RRVN - Take Four

Happy blog anniversary!

Remember, Remember the 5th of November.

4 years, 120,000 views later and I'm still here.

Can you believe I’ve had this thing for 4 years?

Granted lately I haven’t been as good keeping up with it as I was before. Honestly I don't know how I did it every day for that long.

But that’s probably good for you cause you don’t have to put up with my random ramblings 7 days a week. Now it’s just like twice a month. There you go, I did it for you.

Though I've slowed down a bit I still post about the important things.

In true blog anniversary fashion here are a few of my favorite posts from the past year.

1. Family Christmas: "It's alphabetical." "What from W to boobs?" "Are you sure you want to purchase Boobalicious for $10.95?"

IF YOU'RE GOING TO READ JUST ONE GO WITH THIS ONE
2. 1000th Post: Post #1000 My Top Library Moments of All Time "You looked all serious." "I am serious, I gotta get rid of this 7Up!"

3. People's Choice Awards: Nope, it's there forever. Like Maggie Smith and her tramp stamp. "Some of me are definitely dudes."

4. Golden Globes: "It's the story of how George Clooney would rather float away into space and die than spend one more minute with a woman his own age." "Explosion at the wig factory" = alternate title for American Hustle

5. Life Mottos: Walk west 'til your hat floats Because everyone should have someone to scream at in a giant elephant.

6. Grammy Awards: Then I got sober and two robots called me and asked me to make an album. Could anyone understand the words coming out of Beyonce or Jay Z's mouths? It was like Ozzie up there. And then Ozzie was up there...and needed subtitles.

7. Sketch Meets the Parents: It's cold out and I'm not wearing pants, where are you? “What do you think of this dress?” “Stick some candles in it and make a wish?”

8. Trivia Night: I hope I go home with the right dwarfs Heigh ho.

9. Valentine's and Birthday: puck...puck...puck...i should probably move...yep, good plan. The lady in front of me ducked to save her beer. Priorities.

10. Vegas: Vegas Take Two "Take all the dam pictures you want."

11. Hockey/Attachments: "What do you call people who mouth the words when they read?" "Nerds?" We want milk!

12. Library Inservice: My librarian's spicy under-layer. "Think about how much time you spend managing your boobs."

13. Zombie Apocalypse: "The deaf guy's right, you are a nice lady." Yes, these are the thoughts that we have at work.

14. Zombie Apocalypse Part Two/LifeSize Game Day: Keep Calm and Flame On She watches a lot of Survivor and she's good at assembling Ikea furniture.

15. Motorcarring Take Two: We ain't got no room for boring. I'm wondering if they're actually decorative or if it's more like a giant rock monster died in their front lawn and they were too lazy to move them.

16. Librarian Problems: Do I wanna know why there's a bra in the lost and found? Merry unMother's Day.

17. Cher Concert: I hope you took your heart pills cause I'm coming out. I’ve been drinking this forever…Eisenhower was president.

18. Homey G Wigger/Sketch and Edit's Excellent Adventure: Hyvenese = Chinese for Hyvee Plus I had to save Bertha. Don’t ask.

19. Motorcarring Take Three/Paul McCartney Concert: Some people bring spare parts, Popper Boy brings spare cars. It had a picture of a ring with the subtitle: Your Girlfriend Wants Me.

IF YOU'RE GONNA READ TWO GO WITH THIS ONE
20. Camp J Highlights 2014: Hard to be a boy in a cabin named Sioux. Sounds like a car driving through a halftime show.

21. Camp J 2014 Skits: Eat a donut, write a ticket, hands in the air Soap Opera: …Me? You want to marry me? Oh Biff, I, I.... Game Show: ...am so sorry, that's the wrong answer.

22. Bats at the library: Balls to you sir, balls to you sir, up and down the court. Blow me east, blow me west, I like lots of wind.

23. Learn the symptoms of a stroke/Karmin concert: I would shoulder a twelve-year-old for you. That's love.

24. Fun times at the zoo/Staff Association/Hockey Signings and Tour: "Do you work here?" "No." "Oh, well there's a reindeer stuck in the tree." In the meantime I'm on the cheeseball committee.

25. Disney Overload: No one saying do this, no one saying be there, no one saying stop that, no one saying see here. "it starts with an S and the rest is fluff."

26. Sports Harder: "A field goal's like kissing your sister." They looked like something your grandmother would have bought you (like a bird sweater) and then he actually wore them.

27. Mentor: And I'm dying inside and nobody knows it but me. Living in a dream world is great, but sometimes you have to face reality and write letters to the important people in your life before it's too late.

28. Women's Murder Club: That's not coffee that's diabetes on ice. "That's how I ended up with a Rotato."

No idea what happened in 2012.

Continuing on, here are a few of my favorite things lately:

What's green and sings?

Elvis Parsley. That was a Library Judge addition.

Hey Ya - Troy Ritchie

Flashback to high school. I love his quirky style, especially at 0:42. Need to learn that move. It's stylin'.

Twelve Days of Christmas - Bob and Doug McKelvie

Don't look at me like that, it's November, I'm allowed to listen to Christmas music. Aren't you so proud I waited 'til after October to start?

Guess I'll have to add that one to my list to post for 12 Days of Christmas Music coming up in December. A whole 12 days of posting in a row. Perhaps I should go back to posting every day to prepare. I've got plenty of stuff to talk about.

Here's what you've missed since my last post in no order whatsoever.

Today at work was so bizarre. I climbed through a hole in the wall, turned a display into a giant turkey, and stuck mustaches on books. Let me explain.

The hole in the wall was to the garage which I knew we had but didn't know where it was or how to get to it. Turns out it got walled off cause we don't use it but there's still a hole you can go through to get to it. This was where the supervisor watched safely from the sideline as I got covered in spiderwebs and tripped over broken glass. We've been doing a lot of rearranging lately and we're looking for random odds and ends or more places to stash extra odds and ends.

The turkey thing is going in youth services. We have this giant triangle building block display and Superwoman wants us to turn it into a giant turkey so I recruited two of my TAB kids to help. It's a work in progress, but the head is done!

As for the mustaches it is Movember - a month dedicated to men's health - so I took all the YA books with faces on them and stuck mustaches of different colors and sizes on them, then put them all on display. It's got a lot of attention because it's located right between the stairs and the computer lab. I'm proud.

I know I'm highly entertaining.

What else?

October was filled with ups and downs, specifically one weekend in particular. On Friday we celebrated a wedding, on Monday we mourned at a funeral. Unfortunately it was for the same family as the wedding.

The wedding was fun. The boyfriend went with me - he used to be housemates with the groom. I know the groom from school, camp, and apparently we're related somewhere down the line. And he actually met his bride at camp so I knew her too! She is our nurse. They donated a dollar to camp for everyone at the wedding which I thought was amusing. The reception was lego themed and awesome. Each of the tables had a bowl full of legos for us to build stuff. The boyfriend built a spaceship, I built a house. I even got him to dance with me so it was great.

The funeral was not so amusing. Actually it was rather stressful, even before it started. The night before Mom had this idea of releasing balloons at the cemetery so she texted the new bride to see if it would be okay. The next morning she responded saying that the family loved the idea. Immediately after Mom woke me up - you know how much of an early morning person I am - I got dressed and we went to the pharmacy for balloons. We asked for 40 and they were like "only 40?" until we told them we needed them in like 10 minutes. It took 4 of them to get it done. Meanwhile mom and I went across the street to get breakfast. After the balloons were ready she took most of them in her car and I took the rest. We lost about 4 or 5 on the way over. Scared the crap out of me every time one popped cause they were right next to my head.

Note to self, next time whilst transporting balloons turn the heat/air conditioner vents in a different direction otherwise your balloons will pop. Figured that out halfway there.

Once we were there everything was fine. Well, as fine as it could be. The church was packed, as was the basement, so I was proud. He request was that we sing Someday - which has become a camp tradition since 2008. Since I'm the one who usually leads it at camp I led it there. Plus as she was my mentor I felt it was important for me to do something. It wasn't our best, granted everyone was looking at their feet. It became almost an unspoken rule not to look each other in the eye because we knew we'd lose it. As I had lost it twice during the service - we sang at the end - I only looked up when I had to cue people in and out. After the service we went to the cemetery. The Pastor said a few words and then we released our balloons. It was interesting because there was a treeline and I was scared they would hit the trees but almost a second before they shot straight up and over the trees like they were helped or something. I was glad I could help out as she meant a lot to me. Camp won't be the same without her.

Okay, as thinking about that gets me into over-analyzing my life mode let's move on to something more joyful.

Let's go with TAB, that's always fun. This month for our activity the teens recorded a podcast about their favorite books and their favorite TAB memories. I was quite proud they were able to expand more than just "it was cool" or "i liked the cover." They went into writing style, plot twists, and all that, plus they were very passionate while talking about TAB so that was good. Then of course Info-Man made me talk about how to join and our upcoming events. For your info our upcoming events include a books to movie marathon and a Mockingjay party. Similar to our Catching Fire party last year we're going to see it in theaters and then coming back for games and snacks. I have a crapton of trivia so we're going to divide them into teams through a "reaping" of sorts and then they have the opportunity for extra points if they get the question right by hitting a target with a nerf bow and arrow set.

Very exciting, I know you're all jealous.

What else? Halloween was last week. Myself and a bunch of my coworkers dressed up for work. I was a hockey player. Queen of the Known Universe was a Royals baseball player. The New Guy was a fireman - suspenders and hat included. Info-Man was a Ghostbusting vampire in that he wore a Ghostbusters t-shirt and vampire teeth. We took a picture - it's up on Facebook. As for after work, the boyfriend was off in Iowa riding motorcars with his dad so I went to my sister's. We drank wine and watched Rocky Horror and Young Frankenstein. Squirt was throwing a Halloween/birthday party so there were lots of teens around. I thought it was cool because instead of just watching movies they did a scavenger hunt. They went around taking pictures of themselves with certain things like spiders, pumpkin seeds, gravestones and all that and they got points for each thing. The last thing on the list was to turn themselves into a Mummy so she had tons of toilet paper at the house. Bubby was my favorite. Their toilet paper kept ripping so it took them a couple of tries. His partner was his girlfriend. I know, I feel so old. But I'm the cool aunt so I didn't tell any embarrassing stories. She seems nice.

Soon after Halloween was election day. Most of my people won. Except for governor. I don't like Pete Ricketts or his commercials so that's kind of a bummer. I listened to Mitt Romney Style while voting again. It's becoming a tradition.

On to Scale of Awesome's

Gone Girl

This movie was messed up. In the end they deserved each other, seriously, but we literally just sat in the theater and went what? Like what? It's a super long movie so you're waiting and waiting and waiting for stuff to happen and then it finally does and then it's suddenly done with a huge cliffhanger. I picked up the book at work and read the last couple pages and it's the same thing! Ugh. Scale of Awesome says 5/10.

**Spoiler alert** I thought for sure one of them would kill the other at the end. I was rooting for him to kill her, she's a sociopath, oh my god.

Fury

The boyfriend loves WW2 movies, but since he's a history buff he debunks them as we watch them. This one was apparently fine up until the ending, but I didn't care cause I thought it was great. I know everyone keeps saying all this crap about Shia being nuts, but he stole every scene. He was so good. Total method actor, though I guess he is a bit crazy since he pulled out his own tooth for the role. Whatever, Scale of Awesome says 9/10, I'll definitely watch it again.

Taking Chance

I'm not quite sure how I missed this one until now since it's recent and has Kevin Bacon in it. It must not have gotten a lot of advertising. I thought it was great, very emotional and cool to know what is all involved in the process and how respectful they are. Scale of Awesome says 7/10.

Last but not least here's my Voice Top 20. Well, what's left of it.

Damien - Adam - won battle – won knockout
James David Carter - Blake - won battle – won knockout

Kelli Douglas - Adam - eliminated in battles
Anita Antoinette - Gwen - won battle – won knockout
Luke Wade - Pharrell - won battle – won knockout

Toia Jones - Pharrell - stolen by Adam – lost in knockouts
Maiya Sykes - Phar
rell - eliminated in battles
Joe Kirk - Adam - eliminated in battles

Jessie Pitts - Gwen - stolen by Blake – won knockout
Taylor Phelan - Pharrell - won battle – stolen by Adam

Chris Jamison - Adam - won battle – won knockout
Mia Pfirrman - Adam - won battle – won knockout

Fernanda Bosch - Blake - eliminated in battles
Beth Spangler - Adam - stolen by Gwen – eliminated in knockouts
Matt McAndrew - Adam - won battle – won knockout

Taylor John Williams - Gwen - won battle – won knockout

Katriz Trinidad - Pharrell - won battle – eliminated in knockouts
Jean Kelley - Gwen - stolen by Pharrell – won knockout

Troy Ritchie - Gwen - won battle – lost in knockouts
Taylor Brashears - Blake - won battle – won knockout

My number 1 took out numbers 2 and 6, but the rest of my top few have been dominant. Adam has the strongest team going into the live shows by far since they're all 3 or 4 chair turns. Pharrell has Luke, enough said. James has dominated for Blake and I'm liking Taylor's chances as well. Number 21 on my list would have been Craig Wayne Boyd. He got stolen by Gwen then stolen back by Blake which was cool. I'm rooting for him as well. As usual the female coach has the weakest team. I don't know what it is but every year Christina, Shakira and now Gwen just get hosed by the male coaches.

And that's all I got. Here's to another year. Catch you on the B Side.

You know it's a fun-filled Halloween when you cheer cause a second cop pulled you over.

I'll get there.

So here was my Halloween.

Home branch in the morning. Wore my Nerd Herd t-shirt which the alarm guy recognized and called out.

Go Team Bartowski!

On the desk when who should make a surprise visit but the Space Cadet! After being gone a month - or more - due to injury she hobbled her way in to pick up some holds.

I got a hug, I felt special.

Apparently, due to her injury, we are no longer allowed to use the back door as that whole area is just prone for disaster.

After two hours at the home branch I went over to the work branch for another two, one of which was spent weeding our youth collection, the other was on the front desk with the Queen of the Known Universe. I had like 6 stats total. Rockstar huh? Not so much but not my fault.

Hamburger for lunch from the usual place across the street.

Off to practicum - Practicum CountUp 67:20/90 - where Mr. BossMan Tom had homemade eyeballs for treats.

Frozen grapes rolled in cherry jello powder. The strategy is to freeze the grapes so it creates condensation then roll the grapes in a pack of jello powder - you can pick the flavor - then put them in the fridge. They were awesome. He sent me home with a cup full since he had half a tupperware thing leftover.

Oh the pains of being an intern, leftover food, my life is so rough.

Practicum was good, a lot of more interest in the libraries now that we have the internet computers up and running.

After practicum I headed out to see the boyfriend which is when I checked my email and did a slightly embarrassing jump for joy. Actually it was more of a jump out of shock cause I PASSED MY COMPS!

Of course they don't give you any feedback it's just pass or fail. Which is both bad and good. Bad because I put hours and hours of work into those and I'd like to hear something, but good because if they were crap I don't want to hear, "well, they sucked but we felt bad for you so..."

One of my comrades also passed, I'm still waiting to hear back from the other. If all three of us succeed there will be drinks in our future.

Though that's probably true if the other one fails too.

All I have left is the rest of my 90 hours for Practicum and a few more assignments for Youth Services and then I'll graduate and get my Master's in Library Science at the graduation ceremony in December.

Called my mom, then the Cool Aunt since it's her fault I'm in the program in the first place, then sent out a text to the rest of the family and the Library Goddess. The consensus is good.

Second Sister called me a big stud, I wasn't sure how to respond to that.

After all that calmed down the boyfriend and I got Runza for supper - if you're not from Nebraska Google it - then watched The Skeleton Key.

That was messed up. He was shocked I'd never heard of it. I'm a fan of hers but not diehard so must have slipped by. Scale of Awesome says 5/10. I told him if it gave me nightmares it was his fault. Of course he's at work now so he's preoccupied anyway.

So I left his place and I'm almost to the interstate when suddenly this car speeds up and pulls behind me and then I see the lights turn on. I was totally confused, I had my seatbelt on, I wasn't speeding, I'm not drunk. I pulled over - on the on ramp btw not cool - and he comes up and is like, "your headlight is out."

What?

In my head I'm like "it is not, my mechanic boyfriend has been driving this car around all night he would have noticed something like that."

Apparently not so much.

I'll take it as a compliment actually he must have just been too focused on the awesomeness that was me and missed out on the whole missing line of sight deal part thing.

Or maybe it went out after he stopped driving it.

Either way he gave me a fix-it ticket and said keep it with me in case I get pulled over again.

Me, being the sarcastic person that I am, was like okay, how many cops can I get to pull me over and give me the same ticket?

Now, there are rules to this pursuit.

First rule, don't speed. You don't want to get an additional ticket.

Second rule, remember to use your turn signal. You don't want to get an additional ticket.

Third rule, continue to wear your seatbelt. You don't want to get an additional ticket.

Fourth rule, watch the road. You don't want to get into an accident because of your effort to get a replicate ticket.

I passed tons of cops and I was getting sad cause no one was pulling me over.

Slackers.

There was one a few miles from where I got pulled over initially that had its lights on when I passed him but then they turned off so I think the initial patrolman actually cleared him for me.

Bummer.

So I'm driving and I make it to town and I'm about to turn off of the highway when I see a cop in the median - or the grass thing is it still called a median when there's grass on it and cops park on it? Anyway, I see the brake lights come on and I started to cheer.

Oh come on, you would too.

He walks up, I roll down the window and hold up the ticket. He's like, "oh. so you already know." "yep. had that conversation already tonight."

He was nice enough to let me go without running all of my information again, shortest cop-pull-over ever I'm calling it.

Now I'm back with my big fat cat about to watch some more Blacklist. It's amusing to rewatch them and then count the times you yell "Run Lizzy Run" at the screen. I'm at 5.

So there, that was my Halloween. It made up for the semi-boring days that preceded it.

And now I give you the Spell Block Tango cause I think it's amusing.

Disney plus Chicago, two of my favorite things.

and yes that is Amber Riley.

i'm out!

"Who's that?" "An actress." "A real actress?" "Yes, a real actress!"

Why is it that shampoo and conditioner bottles always run out at different times?

You're using the two together at reasonably the same amount each time, so why does one empty faster than the other?

Or is that just me?

So now I've got an empty conditioner bottle with half a thing of shampoo left. How did that even happen?

I mean, I know I'm bad at math, but it just doesn't make sense.

I think it's the long hair. I need to chop it off.

No, not all of it.

I would die if I chopped off all of it. I could never pull that off.

At some point in grade school I chopped it off to like chin length and hated it so never ever again anything less than shoulder length.

I'm sorry, rambling, I'll stop.

Today was fun, flew by fairly quickly which was weird cause I was dead tired. I don't know if it was the weather or what. Apparently I slept through a massive hail storm in the morning.

Woops.

Car looks fine, didn't even notice.

It was busy on and off but I felt like I barely sat down. When I wasn't helping at the desk I was weeding the youth collection and checking in. Tomorrow is a halfday - huzzah - AND I get to start at the home branch, for a whole like 2 hours, then work branch, then practicum, then date night!

Halloween style.

Which basically means dinner and scary movie night same as last year. I don't remember what we watched last year but I know it was scary at some point but not scary enough for me to remember what it was a year later. I think it had Sandra Bullock in it. I know that really narrows things down.

Hey, I have a blog. I can rewind to things like that.

Be right back.

....
......
....
.....
....

Ah, nevermind, it was a Bond flick. Young Christopher Walken with blonde hair. Bullock must have been a different night. Though it was scary at some point yet not scary enough for me to remember a year later so I was half right.

See, this thing actually is quite handy, who knew?

What are your Halloween traditions?

We talked about this a lot today, I don't really remember trick or treating, I lived on a farm but I know I did it at some point cause I remember being a witch, Simba, Darth Vader and the dude from Scream in grade school - plus Charlie's Angels in high school which is more of a long story.

That's a really weird combination of characters, I'm aware. Sitcom in the making.

Tomorrow should be fun. Last year I wore a Hunger Games shirt, year before that I think it was Batman. This year is up for debate. I have a lot of fun shirts. Maybe I'll do something Star Wars, Warehouse 13 or Leverage...hmmm....

That's all I got for today. Class was interesting, we talked about making libraries welcoming for youth then came up with designs for our dream libraries. It was interesting seeing people attempt to make things on the online chart board. I'm bad at art so I let them do that part I just yelled out the essentials for a teen space. Computers, couches, tv's, video games, music area, possible loft, you know, the usual.

It looked pretty cool by the end there was even a highway surrounding the building but then we ran out of a time and it was lost forever. Sad day.

Okay, now that's really all I got. Finished my homework - practicum paper that took much longer than planned because as mentioned above I suck at math so it took me like 8 times to count up my hours. Ugh.

Still another assignment for Youth Services but it's not due until Sunday so I'm gonna do it Friday night. Should be fun.

Okay, now that's really really all I got.

Music and I'm out.

Knockout Matthew Schuler vs. Will Champlin

i'm sorry but that was epic.

Knockout Caroline Pennell vs George Horga Jr. but ignore the George part

"caroline makes me want to buy a cat..." she had that down perfectly.

I'm rewatching all of the episodes of The Blacklist to do a count of how many times I've screamed the phrase "Run Lizzy Run". So far I'm at 3.

The title's a long story involving Twitter and a famous follower who actually gave me a shoutout tonight after quoting my boss and tagging her. It was amusing.

Okay, now that's really really really all I got.

My broom is in the van.

Not to be confused with last year's entry: My Sickle's In The Car

Dressed up as Katniss today with a Hunger Games shirt and mockingjay pin. Was going to braid my hair but I totally don't wake up that early, like ever.

Few other coworkers dressed up. Queen of the Known Universe wore a nice pointy black hat.

She said we were off by a letter but I'll stick with witch.

After work I headed out to see the boyfriend. We got some burgers at Wendy's and watched the rest of a the Bond movie we started last week. Young Christopher Walken complete with a full head of hair.

So pretty laid back day all in all, which was nice.

Though I should really sleep cause I'm meeting with the Library Goddess tomorrow morning before work.

Hurray for coffee shops.

Songs of the day:

Monster Mash - Bobby Boris Pickett
crazy to think this song was originally rejected because they didn't see the appeal.

bet they're wishing they'd thought differently now.

Psycho Killer - Talking Heads
serious face.

and just for kicks

Word Up - Korn

The difference between "if" and "when"

As you've noticed I did not post last night.

I had quite the day.

Meeting in the morning - 8:30 but I got there at 8:15 - with the Library Goddess at her house. Which is awesome by the way. She made me coffee - bought caramel flavoring just for me - and stuffed me full of cinnamon rolls, sending one home with me for the boyfriend. We put together our online newsletter and sent it off to be published to the official website, woohoo!

First one down, and it was super easy. Lots of copy and paste work, I dunno what I was freakin' out about. Looks great and got some cool pictures to include from fellow library employees.

After that I headed back to the apartment and met up with the boyfriend and left about 10:30. It takes about 3 hours and some odd minutes to get to Worlds of Fun - it's not just fun, there's worlds of it - so we got there at about 1:30.

I like rollercoasters, but my boyfriend, he's a diehard fan. It was highly amusing. I haven't had that much fun in a very long time.

We were there from 1:30-11:30PM.

Riding rollercoasters.

For 10 hours.

And other spinny things that made me nauseous. But basically everything labeled "high thrill" - their term not mine.

By the end of the 10 hours we had ridden at least 16 times on the rollercoasters, it might have been 17 but we lost count.

The Prowler we went on like 5 times - much cooler and faster at night. Or maybe it just seemed that way cause you couldn't see where we were going. By the end of the night the announcer was calling it the "pa-row-la" which is now how I pronounce it.

And then the Patriot we went on at least 4 times. That one was my favorite cause it was inverted - your feet dangled and you were strapped in by your shoulders instead of sitting in a cart. There were lots of upside down, flailing moments, it was sweet.

The Mamba is the tallest and fastest of them and we sat up front - well, the first time, which reminded me of the last time I went to Worlds of Fun back in 1999 cause I rode in the front then with one of my parents friends. He and I rode all the coasters that were there at that time, but there are a lot more now.

I actually cheated because I couldn't remember the exact year we went. But I was a kid, and you don't keep track of that stuff. I thought I was about 10. I remember we rode out in a van-ish thing. Jackie and I basically sat in the back on a mattress playing card games. While we were in KC they bought a washer dryer set, which was highly amusing to drive back with.

Anyway, I cheated, because I remember when we went we stopped at a McDonalds cause it was raining and they weren't open yet. At McDonalds they had these Tarzan straws that when you took a drink they'd talk. I remember finding one once when I was cleaning out the kitchen for mom. So I googled the year Tarzan came out in theaters - 1999 - and realized it had been 13 years since I'd been there.

How did I live without google on my phone before? It's just so handy, I think I use it at least 5 times a day.

Where was I? Yes, so we rode on the front of the Mamba last time I was there and I got a green shirt with a snake on it with all the dimensions and speeds and all that - no idea where it is now.

So it was cool being able to do it again.

I don't remember swearing quite so much or so loudly back in 1999, but there was a lot of that going on this time around. Oh my god, so the Timberwolf was another one we rode a couple of times and this little girl was sitting behind us and screaming her guts out.

No, like, literally. I thought she was flying out of her chair or something because of these crazy high pitch screams. I was like, waiting for her to take a break to breathe, but there was none of that. And the best part of it all was turning around right after the ride and she was like smiling it up. Like totally did it on purpose.

Hysterical.

We attempted to ride on the back car of the Timberwolf and the Prowler which are both wooden ones, and you get beat up pretty bad back there. Pulled over the top of the hills and thrash side to side. By the time you get out of the car you can barely stand...and then you go get back in line.

But again, we cheated.

This time I blame him, but I don't blame him cause it was totally worth it.

Remember how I said he was a diehard? Apparently the boy has no patience for lines so he decides we need to buy these "Fast Lane" bracelets. With these you can use a separate entrance that takes you straight to the front of the line.

They were expensive but worth it.

Even though we got nothing but glares as we passed by like hundreds of people.

That was fun.

Anyway, I'm guessing without them we probably only would have ridden each one just a couple times cause the lines got super long as the day went on.

BECAUSE it was opening weekend for their Halloween stuff.

This place was decked out. For serious. Everywhere you look there were skulls, spiders, decorative lighting which looked super awesome at night. I'll post pictures of that on Facebook later.

And they don't just do that for Halloween, they build haunted houses.

We went through 6.

Aaannd, because our patience is limited when it comes to theme parks, this time we got "Fright Lane" lanyards taking us to the front of the line. First off there was the insane asylum - super disorienting because there was all this fog and you literally couldn't see where you were going. Like I was grabbing his shirt because if he got farther than a few inches from me I would have lost him in the fog. After that one was,

Cornstalkers which was all outdoors and basically like a maze but with people jumping out at you. And they were good - everyone in all the houses was really good cause half of them would sit there and wait and look like a dummy and then they'd move and you'd be like, "holy crap, i thought you were fake."

After the corn came Bloodshed, which was basically a place where they created monsters, it was alright, but there was a group of teenage girls in front of us that wouldn't move. Like they'd see something scary, scream and huddle and just stand there until they gathered the courage to move on. So that took forever, until they got apparently too freaked out and decided to turn around and get the heck out of there.

I was most looking forward to the London Terror, which was up next, but it was the most disappointing. I just wanted more London horror, you know? I was waiting for Jack the Ripper and all that, but got nothing but steampunk - which is cool but not scary - and weird looking wench women.

Yes, weird looking wench women.

In fishnets.

Although I did have an interesting conversation with a steampunk about my Pippi Longstocking hat, that I totally wore the whole day, roller coasters included. The Cool Aunt has started giving me these off the wall hats for Christmas, they're sweet.

After London was this broken down dollhouse thing which was basically filled with barbies nailed to the wall. Which was bizarre but not scary. And last but not least came "Zombie High" which I guess is the newest of haunted houses there. It was alright I guess, although like 1/3 of the way in the lights turned on cause someone hit the emergency stop button. But that lasted maybe 20 seconds before we were going again.

All in all they weren't completely scary, I think I jumped a few times and that was just in the Cornstalkers one because they'd hide in the stalks and jump out at you. The rest of the stuff wasn't so bad because they weren't allowed to touch you. They'd basically stick their face near your face and they were wearing these creepy/crazy masks or their faces were painted. Or they'd scream or beat the wall or something. I mean, it was worth going through and checking out, but nothing that will scar me for life.

There were a lot of random clowns - Juwanna would have died - and strange characters just wandering the grounds as well. I got a sweet picture of me and some giant dude with an ax that reminded me a bit of Attila the Hun.

There were more roller coasters - the Spinning Dragons was a four person cart that spun as you rode and we went with these two cute kiddos who were in front of us. The Boomerang that you start out going forward, get all the way to the end and then it sends you back backwards.

And I got a sweet picture of us on the Patriot. After going on the rides several times you learn where each of their cameras are, well, he did, and made faces every time we came around. I bought my favorite of the expressions, perhaps I will post it later.

We also went on the ThunderHawk which wasn't a coaster but you did go up and down and spin around, "we don't spit in your house so please don't do it off our ride"

and then two of them where you stood against a wall and it spun you so that you were sucked up against the wall - in one of them the floor dropped out and you didn't move because of the suction to the wall.

I had to take a slight break after that one. I was feeling the nausea full circle.

Ha.

But he was proud cause I didn't throw up the whole day, and apparently I lasted longer than his family because we did 10 hours of rollercoasters, and I guess they only last a few.

But we had fun, and plan to do it again. Gonna hit up like Ceder Point and Busch Gardens and all that. Maybe do something once a year.

I'm sure when we go he'll make us take the train to get there, but that's fine.

Yes, when we go.

We're making plans.

I'm making plans.

It's new and different.

I've never been an actual making plans kind of person - and I'm not meaning to sound all Finn from Grey's Anatomy on you - but seriously, the majority of my relationships haven't lasted much longer than a Mento so I've never felt the urge to make plans like this.

But with him it's different.

I've noticed lately that when we talk it's gone from "if" to "when".

You know what I mean?

It's not just a possibility, it's a will happen kind of thing. But not just things like "when" we go to another theme park we should ride even more rollercoasters, though there are those "when"s as well. I'm talking more about the "when" we get married we'll have an open bar, kind of "when"s.

See, throughout Tweet's wedding extravaganza everyone was all over us saying we were next and asking when it would happen and all that. And I directed them to him, saying that he would be the one asking, and he was apparently directing them to me because supposedly I'm in charge.

And then his mom said that we're supposed to have three kids. Cause she wants lots of grandkids.

Neither of us is ready to get married or have kids at the moment. Even though we've dated before that didn't really count as much as these past 9 months. Though probably including them would put us over the year mark. But, marriage and kids are kind of big things and you don't want to rush into them.

But I keep having all these "when" thoughts. I'm actually excited to spend time with him, whether it's at Worlds of Fun or watching movies on a couch. And I've never really felt like that about anyone.

Which makes me sound like a girl, but I'm happy. Like legitimately happy which hasn't happened in a very long time - relationship-wise.

Like this weekend was fantastic. After all the roller coasters and haunted houses we drove all the way back here, got back at like 3:00, then woke up at 10 because he needed to put air in his tires. Then he came back to the apartment and slept all day while I went to work from 11:30-6 - it's only fair cause I'll sleep tonight while he's at work.

But it was nice coming home to someone other than my big fat cat.

Who also loves me and is sleeping next to me at the moment.

We watched "This is Spinal Tap" when I got home from work. Um, interesting, but it had its moments. Then he took off cause he has to work, leaving me here with my big fat cat, attempting to post whilst watching the Avengers with the commentary that tells you everything that's happening on the screen.

It makes me laugh, "he's wearing sunglasses even though it's dark"

"the boxer punches the bag right across the gym and it bursts open. the boxer is captain america."

Anyway, so we're back and it was straight back to life cause I went in this morning and was total zombie-mode all day. I mean, I got through it, but barely. Thankfully it was a Sunday and rather slow. And he goes back to work tonight. So, vacation over. For now. Vegas will be fun. And it's fastly approaching.

Okay, I think I've rambled long enough.

I'll leave you with some music and most likely crash as soon as my head hits the pillow. I'm zonked. And it's only 11:11.

These two songs were sang repeatedly while we stood in line.

and not by me...

love it. though after singing it with a minnesotan accent there's no going back.

think this is the first time i've listened to the full song. it wasn't just him singing this one though, it seemed like practically all the employees were as well. something about the "hands up" thing on rollercoasters.

after i got some sweet light up gloves it was even cooler.

And I'm out. And sleeping in cause I don't go in until 4, huzzah!

and look, a legitimate 11:33.

They did the mash.

"You should rephrase that, she'll think we're sending her poop!"
"Yes, that's how I felt about the money drawer this morning.
i love my trainee

"That'd be like SPF 666."
sunscreen for vampires.

Oh Halloween. Candy and costumes galore but the highlight was definitely seeing my brother in law dressed as Joe Dirt in flannel and a blonde wig.

We jammed at the house watching Clue and Scooby Doo. "To make a long story short" "TOO LATE!" Both classic Halloween shows. We watch Clue every year at camp on the last night after our cheesy movies. It's just so fantastic, Tim Curry at his finest. Well, that and Rocky Horror. He's good with the Halloween cult movies.

I will have to watch Hocus Pocus tomorrow night after work. Along with writing my narrative. But it's only a page so I can handle that. Should probably figure out what class I want to take next semester as well, just waiting to hear back from Library Goddess.

Alright, off to watch Castle on DVR. Gonna be sweet!

"Monster Mash" - Bobby 'Boris' Pickett

dig it.

"Abracadabra" Steve Miller Band

karaoke classic

So... tomorrow. Should be interesting.

"My sickle's in the car"

Good life motto there. Reminds me of high school, I used the phrase "it's in my other pants" quite often when people asked me for something.

There was a kid dressed as a grim reaper that came in today (left his sickle in the car) and it reminded me that I have absolutely no plans for Halloween. Which is strange. Last year I went to see Rocky Horror with Slim Shady. Think I scarred her for life. So I called up Oldest Sister, think we're gonna jam at her house handing out candy and watching scary movies.

I always watch Hocus Pocus - you know the Sanderson Sisters movie with Bette Midler and Sarah Michelle Gellar? Hilarious, never gets old. Plus it's got little McGee with an accent. Didn't realize he was in it until after I was completely hooked on NCIS. He looks and sounds a lot different then compared to now. But maybe that's the accent since you really don't see him see him often. It's just his voice since they turned him into a cat. Long story. Watch the movie. It's hysterical.

Got to work with my awesome Trainee and Girlscout today. They're both fantastically funny so it was a good day.

After that got some pancakes with my grad school homies to talk about our book and other grad school related stuff.

Me: "I think it'd be fun to take Cataloging."
Sam: "You know you're a librarian when..."

It's a fun group. We've got the Snarky One, the Bubbly One, the Quiet One, the Father Figure and the Bartender... and Me. Good discussion. Plus pancakes. I was all over it.

Tomorrow should be fun. Waking up early *cough*onmydayoff*cough* to go cheer on Squirt and Bubby in a volleyball tournament. At my old high school. Looking forward to seeing people. I loved high school. Almost as much as I hated college.

Should be fun.

And I'm out.

I got soul but I'm not a soldier

Pics of the Day:

so sad i missed the scream of death it emitted before it died. but i was there when our tech guy replaced it with another.

"I have a craving to carve pumpkins this year. Would your children be interested so that I have an excuse to do it?"

They were all over it.

Initials. Use it for everything.

Diggin' it. Put it outside on the deck so my cat doesn't kill it.

Posted my homework, tomorrow's meeting should be interesting. Yay pancakes!

Watched Body of Proof - was so hoping the killer tried to escape on a horse. but nope. too cocky.

Now it's Mike and Molly. Fantastic show. Loved Melissa McCarthy in Gilmore Girls with the ditsy comedy, then Bridesmaids with her tomboyness, it's cool to see her as a teacher and normal. And the only normal one in the family.

"So yes, I do believe in bigfoot and yes, I think he's a total jerk."
i know i've posted that like 8 times but it's still worth it.

"All These Things I've Done" The Killers

so weird, looks like johnny depp at 3:39 and nathan fillion with a mustache at 3:42
