so come and get it.

Carter is mad at me.

I'm not sure what I did to incur his wrath but he won't shutup.

I wonder what he does while I'm gone.

I know he's always waiting for me meowing at the door when I get home.

I'm sure my neighbors love him.

This is Carter in a nutshell.

no wait, this is carter in a nutshell.

pretty much every night. minus the bat.

You can blame these on my coworker's kid, she was the one to introduce me to them. We jammed out all afternoon - my TAB kids came in and made bookmarks, signs, banners and all that to hang up in the YA area.

She's a great artist so if there was a contest she would have dominated.

The bookmarks were a big hit. Apparently teens are into glitter. Who'd have known. Not sure that I was really that into but that was quite a while ago so maybe I'm blocking out my glitter fascination because it's tied to a specific memory.

I guess this goes on the "Boy, was I wrong" list, right above gauchos but just below the Flashdance phrase.

Haven't quoted Lorelai in a while, must be off my game.

So worked in the morning, jammed with the teens designing some cool looking bookmarks all afternoon. Literally all afternoon they were here 1-5. And then it took forever to take down to poor Info-Man basically had to close by himself.

After work I came back and did homework. Finished my paper due Friday and posted it. It's nice to know I can still pound out a major assignment in just a few hours. So I'm done for the week aside from discussion boards and then this weekend I'll attempt to work on stuff that's due next week but since it's my first weekend off in forever we all know that's not gonna happen.

I just needed to get it all done before conference on Thursday/Friday.

Or should I say nerd convention? More on that later.

I'm shocked but of course the boyfriend is off on vacation so no real plans which means I get to go to the farm. Woohoo! And get my tire pressure sensor fixed! I'm hoping, anyway. I think that thing breaks every few months, this is at least the third time it's happened. Gonna have to start keeping track of which tire it is.

More Voice battles tonight. Mycle and Michelle both survived. I'm starting to like Liz Davis as well, she's pretty good. Shocked by Xtina's steal, was not expecting that. The problem with more singers is that they don't show all of the battles. So like Celica, Michelle and Mycle's weren't aired even though they're great. They just showed the highlight reel and then the coach's pick.

Song of the night:

love 1:23-33 seems so much older than 25. just something about the voice. but it just sounds like she should be on the radio. you know? actual legitimate country voice, awesomeness.

Alright, I'm out for the night. The teens tire me out even though I was just sitting all afternoon drawing. They've got a lot of energy. Yikes.

He shoots, He scores! Hey Goalie,

You suck!

I love that right before the game the announcer says that bad language won't be tolerated.

Power in numbers, they gonna kick us all out?

Social psychology at its greatest.

Hockey night tonight at the ice box. We played against Omaha so it was kind of a rivalry thing. Sold out crowd, though there were only like 20 Omaha fans in the entire place.

We had excellent seats - Squirt kept threatening to go out on the ice. She wanted to see them fight. If there were no fights she was determined to go out there and start one.

Much to her chagrin, there weren't a lot of big fights. Though there was one where our guys basically dog piled on their goalie.

But seriously, if he has the puck and they push him in the goal, shouldn't that count as a goal?

I mean, the puck is in the goal.

So technically it should. Right?

Anyway, we lost, but it was great match. For a while it was completely back and forth scoring. We'd score and they'd score immediately after.

Squirt and I did a lot of dancing between quarters. Bubby would just roll his eyes and pull out his phone.

The boyfriend and my sister seem to have bonded.

He thinks I'm a portable jukebox - though heavy metal isn't exactly my strongpoint so when I couldn't name the artist they'd give me crap.

My sister and brother-in-law used to play this game while listening to the radio. You get points for guessing the song and artist first, and if you could name the album you'd get extra points.

She used to rock.

Now she says that after having kids she's lost all her smarts.

Apparently she passed the smarts on to them.

Which seemed to have worked, I guess they did very well on their TerraNova's.

I don't remember them being called that when I took them, but it's the big standardized test thing.

They got smarts.

I was glad that tonight went well. Not that I was worried. He's a good guy, and he actually says things in a conversation unlike other guys that I've dated who will just nod and smile.

And yes, now he has met part of the family.

So you can no longer claim he is a figment of my imagination.

I know that when you use my name and "date" in the same sentence the earth seems to stop spinning.

I'm much like Paris in that aspect.

"For example, I can instantly deduce that when someone hears the name Paris in the same sentence with the word date, jaws will drop, confused looks will cover faces, words like ‘how' and ‘why' and ‘Quick, Bob, get the children in the minivan because the world is obviously coming to an end!' will immediately fly out of people's mouths."

After the game we went out with an old friend and his fiance who were also at the game.

I'm glad she's normal, he's had a few weird ones along the way.

So it was cool to hang out with them, talk about old times.

I got dirt on the boyfriend that I can use in the future. Which is always enjoyable.

Hockey Jams

"Jerk It Out" The Caesars

i'll be running circles around you sooner than you know.
Why does no one else know this song? It's fantastic!

"Mony Mony" Billy Idol

I saw him sing this live. and White Wedding. People never believe me when I say that, but yes, he was at Warped Tour in Denver in '05. It was fantastic. We saw him, MCR, Hawthorne Heights, MXPX, Gogol Bordello, Simple Plan, The Starting Line...I got a guitar pick from them.

It was awesome.

And I'm out.

Class tomorrow, plus the carpool means that I should probably be awake and coherent before noon.

Especially since we're leaving before noon.

OUT!

Paris: What if I fall for him but he doesn't like me?
Rory: Then you'll find someone else.
Paris: What if there is no one else?
Rory: Then you'll buy some cats.

touch and go with your white lies

So, we have this new system at work. It's called Koha. It has its benefits, we're still trying to find the bulk of them, but...
Anyway, I've been dubbed as the smaller branch's Koha Whisperer and Sensei has been joking about me writing the handbook for it. It was hysterical, I sent out an email to the branch about how to cancel a hold in transit and she said it would make a great first chapter and that she would add in the color commentary. We're throwing ideas back and forth.

I never realized how cool phone conversations are. I mean, I rarely talk on the phone but like, you can hear someone's voice. And they're not really there. Sorry, Gilmore Girls, Emily: "I still think transcontinental calls are a bigger deal than they are."

Today I was total zombie autopilot - 4 hours of sleep for a 9-6, not smart - but when you're in public service it's like you say the same things over and over.
Them: "Nice watch"
Me: "Thanks, my sister got it for me for Christmas. She thought it was time I wore one that wasn't broken."

Them: "Oh, I have fines?"
Me: "It's cool, I have fines and I'm here every day."

Plus all the basics, "Can I help you find something?" "Do you happen to have your card with you?" "Do you have a photo ID with you?" "Anything else I can help you find?" "Do you want a bag for those?" That's what screwed me over today. Pretty sure I asked a lady if she wanted a bag twice and she said no both times - but of course I didn't realize I'd already asked her until the second time she said no and looked at me funny. Technically, the looking at me funny thing isn't all that out of the ordinary so maybe I didn't screw it up zombie-style.

"You know, people are calling you 'the blur'"
"That's mean. Or is it? What is that?"

Alright, out early, staff meeting tomorrow. Hope tonight is better. Last night I laid in bed for like hours and couldn't sleep. 4AM to 8AM was all I got. Blah.

"I kept reaching in for strawberries and coming out with liver, that's not pleasant!"

Songs of the day:
Stacy Clark's greatest hits as promised.

Song 1: "touch and go"

the taking random pictures of strangers part confuses me, but awesome song.

song 2: "white lies"

no video yet but she does have her own channel now, huzzah!

"Please erase this from your brain."
"I will definitely try."

staff meeting tomorrow morning, possible dinner with sisters to follow work, then friday is more work and harry potter with the boys. 3rd time, gonna be awesome.
still actually working on my puzzle. surprised i haven't thrown it in the closet yet. this one is kicking my butt. i did all the faces, and the outline and all that but i have all these blank pieces now with no distinguishing markers so i'm screwed.

You're everything that everybody warned about...

How to describe the past 60 hours. Wait, how long ago was 3PM Thursday? I'm bad at math. I think it's around 60. Or maybe not, I'm too tired to count. Okay, how to describe approximately the past 60 hours...
I met a guy. I thought he was sane. We went out. And it turns out he's not. Actually he is. I think. Maybe it's me that's crazy. But since when does playing darts at a bar suddenly put you in a serious relationship? I'm still totally lost. I met him at 3. He asked me out at 4. My coworkers said don't do it, he's bad news bears at 5. We met up at 6. He started referring to himself as my boyfriend at like 9. Seriously?
We hung out and all that then he calls me like all day Friday even though I was at work so I couldn't answer and totally freaked out on me when I spent my night doing homework instead of seeing him again. But it was due at midnight! So then he wanted to hang out today but I already had plans aka class and going to the farm. Then stuff happened with him so he called me like 30 times before 10AM. I'm just still totally confused. Anyway, everyone I've talked to says to run for the hills and don't be nice about it. Which is really hard for me because I'm kind of a nice person. Well, not according to the BFF, she knows the real cynical and sarcastic me. But anyway, he's a nice guy and just because he has a past doesn't mean that it's going to like...I don't know where I'm going with this.
Anyway, the point is I'm single again. Or trying to be. But I don't think it's working. Cause I'm ending it over the phone. (I've known him like 60 hours, am I actually required to do this live? I was never good at that either.) The second sister won't let me see him anymore. I'm actually kind of fond of her "Intercom Breakup" theory. Like if he mysteriously shows up at your door you just do it over the intercom instead of letting him in. I think it could soon be all the rage - like the next major breakup trend.
Back to the whole phone thing, yeah, all we do is argue. He questions me about everything I say. We have nothing in common. We're kinda polar opposites actually. Scratch that, we are polar opposites and my family wouldn't approve. So no, my mother doesn't know, and no you can't tell her.
So I told him that all we do is argue and we don't have anything in common and my family wouldn't approve and that all these things are important to me so we couldn't work because we weren't working and yeah, guess what. We argued. More. So I hung up cause I was tired of it. He called 8 times before I could turn my phone off.
Apparently I'm it for him and he's like ready to settle down and ugh he said all this cheesy crap about how he was waiting for the right person and that all the waiting was worth it because he met me or something like that. It made me want to vomit. Literally. He makes me sick. Maybe I should tell him that next time he calls. But no, all the stress and frustration is literally making me sick. And giving my friends/family/coworkers anxiety. Monday is gonna be fun. Because I met him at work. And he knows I'll be there. Ugh. Guard!

And no, I'm not forgetting about the religious fortune teller's prediction about me finding my mate in the next few weeks - and neither are my coworkers. I'm taking a lot of crap for this. Taking a step back it is kind of amusing. Cabin Fever is going back to the "tell him you worship snakes" theory mentioned here My Life in Closed Captions: The girl with the captivating eyes + sick day + fi... Which basically scares away telemarketers, religious fanatics and creepy looking stalkers. I'm hoping.

Irony about reposting that link is that I've had quotes from Gilmore Girls floating around in my head since I met him and also that was about my first class and today was my last class. Which was good by the way. Kinda sad actually, I was just starting to get to know those people. And I was very TA today which was funny. The Prof had to kind of leave early so I helped out with evaluations and all that. I'll post the Goddess-isms tomorrow when I have my notebook.

"Like stop eating the paste kind of special?" The Gilmore Girls thing lately was about Paris going on a date. I actually love Paris's character. Now. In the beginning she was kind of a B word. I'm starting to censor myself again as camp is coming up soon, not to mention I work in a library filled with children. Anyway, she goes on this date with this guy named Jamie and people are like shocked. Which is kind of like me. Cause I don't really have time to date anymore. Cause I'm a workaholic. I love my work and I love my job and I love my coworkers. Plus camp is coming up, plus we're having play practice all the time, plus there's been family stuff, plus plus plus...blah. Anyway, I don't really date. Not that I've really dated dated since like college. And I don't think that counted. Which is more of a long story. What was I talking about? PARIS! Right, anyway, sorry it's past midnight I get rambly. Shutup Amber, I know you're thinking she's like this no matter the time.
Anyway, Paris has this line -
"I can instantly deduce that when someone hears the name 'Paris' in the same sentence with the word 'date,' jaws will drop, confused looks will cover faces, words like 'how' and 'why' and 'Quick, Bob, get the children in the minivan because the world is obviously coming to an end.' will immediately fly out of people's mouths."

Very similar to me. And it's just so nice because it ties back to the whole fortune teller thing with the end of the world. But that's just one of my many favorite quotes from that episode.

Now I'm feeling more like:
Paris: What if I fall for him but he doesn't like me?
Rory: You'll find someone else.
Paris: What if there is no one else?
Rory: Then you'll get some cats.

But I'm not falling. I've found it's physically impossible to fall for someone when you're still hung up on your ex.

Song for the past few days:
Lily Allen's "Knock 'em Out" one of my favorites, although all of hers are fantastic.

"Try desperately to think of the politest way to say - uhhhh..."

Another fun quote from that episode -
Paris: Get in the closet.
Rory: What? You're crazy.
Paris: If there's no one to compare me to, I might have a fighting chance.
Rory: When we get home, get a new therapist because the one you have isn't working.

Okay, that was a lot. But I have been gone for a while. Tomorrow means long day, but it'll be relaxing. So I guess it's not really long. Why do people say long day when every day is the same length? I'm gonna go to sleep now before I turn even more philosophical over cliches. That happens a lot when I'm half asleep. Also, words like "fork" "spoon" and "Doug" seem a lot funnier past 2AM.

I'm gonna go now. More tomorrow. Or later today. Yeah. Out.
