I know, I know, it's been like 3 days.

And if you aren't friends with me on Facebook then you probably think I'm lying dead somewhere on the side of the road.

Like Sensei the day I slept through my alarm back when I was an aide.

Woops.

But they clapped when I showed up, cause apparently the last aide that didn't call in was actually dead.

Anyway, no, not dead, Sketch was here for Sketch and Edit's Excellent Adventure: Take Two.

Though really we've had many so I don't know that I can actually say Take Two.

Cause we were really random in college.

But on here it's gonna say Take Two.

Cause it's our second adventure as graduated mature adults.

Emphasis on the "we" cause I totally made the brownies all by myself.

However, I'm glad I covered them up before I left for work because look what I found when I came home.

Anyway, we had a lot of fun and while a lot of memorable quotes took place - though half I can't quote on here - I think the winner of the weekend was: "This popsicle doesn't taste like Robert Downey Jr."

I have Avengers popsicles and they're colored like the heroes. She got an Iron Man one while I ate a green and black one for The Hulk.

And then a red, white and blue one for Captain America.

Did I mention I have a thing for popsicles?

So the weekend was a success. Gonna compile a list of recipes for us to make for next time.

Gummy Bear Popsicles are gonna be on it.



I should rephrase, for her to make me as she is the master chef.

Tonight's were especially hilarious just because of the new coaches. There's a lot of rivalries already getting started - Shakira's pretty intense.

But it was hysterical because Usher was trying to win over this country artist and says, "Nashville is a state" in an effort to make Nashville seem small compared to the world so Adam goes, "It's a city...one of the 60 states!" and like Usher like freezes, woops.

I love it.

I'm just exhausted.

All day acting peppy and cheerful and excited about life cause when you're training new employees you have to be all peppy and cheerful and excited about life. Cause who wants to train under someone who's mean and depressed and tired all the time?

And that's basically all I did all day was train people. Cause we have three new ones in the system - and it's not like it's a pain, I like them, they're cool. It just takes it out of you. And I'm always freaking out that I'm going to teach them the wrong thing or whatever.

But it's always fun when you're training with other fun people.

After work was dinner with the sisters. Got my usual rainbow chicken and fries, half of which is in the fridge ready to be eaten at around 2AM.

If I make it that long, I'm barely hanging on for this post and it's only 11:30.

Dinner was fun and our annual trivia night - mentioned here "Hey, I got flax." - has been officially scheduled for the first Friday of February. Totally stoked. We talked about our costumes a bit, every team is supposed to have a theme. We picked That 70's Show for ours - go here: "That's not it either." I'm Donna cause I got the red, which makes the boyfriend Forman. Oldest Sister is Kitty cause she can do the laugh, her husband aka the King of Useless Information is Kelso, my brother is Red all the way, Favorite Sister-In-Law will be Jackie, Second Sister will be Hyde - she's stoked to buy a wig - brother-in-law will be Fez which I think will be hysterical.

Anyway, originally that was going to be the weekend for the annual Sketch and Edit's Excellent Adventure so we will probably end up pushing it back. But it was also the weekend of my niece's first birthday party and I felt guilty for skipping. This will be good though cause it gives us actual time to plan since that's coming up really fast. Last year when we went I got sick so we didn't do much but this year we actually semi-know the area and we can come up with a game plan about some stuff to visit and places to eat at and all that so it will be better.

Should stop by their library.

We drove by. We actually did just randomly drive all over town. It took like 20 minutes to cover the whole town.

Went shopping tonight with Oldest Sister after working 9-6.

I packed my massive bag. Cause my regular sized one is broken. So now I'll have room for souvenirs. Not that I was planning on getting a lot of them.

I'll should bring The Princess Bride with me tomorrow. For some reason I was reading it both times I flew to Chicago. Could keep the tradition alive, but I'd rather read Castle so I'll take that instead.

Was pretty progressive tonight.

That's not the word I'm looking for but since it's the only one that comes to mind I'll stick with it.

Anyway, I got a lot accomplished so I can relax for the weekend. I was told to go away and forget about school and life.

And Mom will be here so she gets to take care of my big fat cat.

Which means it'll be an actual vacation. Which I haven't had since Sketch and Edit's Excellent Adventure in January. And that was a barely a weekend and I was sick for most of it.

Realized yesterday that I totally missed out on Remember Remember the 5th of November.

aka the second year anniversary of this blog.

Last year I made a big deal out of it but this year I've been so crazy busy or half asleep when I post that I just plain forgot. As I'm still busy I'll come up with something next week.

Alright, so I'm all packed, now gotta get some sleep. Get to sleep in - barely - though I probably won't cause I'll be way to amped.

So I'll be taking my new camera, woohoo! And my new clothes and all that so I'm mostly packed. Maybe take my ipad and play some angry birds in the airport.

Greetings from Boondocks, Iowa!

So Sketch and Edit's Excellent Adventure was this past weekend.

We rocked it.

Met up halfway between her place and mine, aka Williamsburg, Iowa. Which is like population 2000, but the home place of Roxy's Bar, the Sundown Lounge, a brand new public library, and the Tanger Outlet Mall. Plus, it's about 10 miles away from the Amana Colonies - which we drove through for fun.

We stayed at this Best Western - ya, for population 2000 the place had 3 hotels, 3 Casey's (no seriously, 3 Casey's), and an outlet mall. Where was all that in G-Town? Seriously? We had 1 hotel. Which actually makes me laugh cause there's a story about it involving my sister and a bird, but I'll let you read that here: My Life in Closed Captions: Joys of Small Town Nebraska

So yes, Best Western. And the Best part of all of its Western charm was the random assortment of items that decorated the rooms and hallways. It was like 7's, birds, pineapples and farm animals. Plus some wicker furniture. And a broken pool - not that we're really swimming people, but still.

There were 7's on all the lamps - there were 4 lamps in the room all with 7's and wings on them. I wondered if that was the number lamp they were on, you know with the rock and roll crazies who throw things out the window.

we were surrounded.

And there were pineapples everywhere. Like as fake candleholders in the hallway and decorative headpieces on the bed.

Why?

The lobby was covered in birds. Literally, they were sitting all over the place. All fake. I hope. But it was like we couldn't escape them.


I was a little disturbed by this one:

And the pictures were all of either birds or other farm animals. Which I guess makes sense since it was a Best Western, but still.

Found it. But I'm pretty sure no whores were involved, there were maybe like 3 cars in the parking lot total the whole time we were there. If whores were involved I'm sure creepers of all ages would swarm all over the building.

I think there were more themed rooms than there were regular. We were sane so we went with the regular, but you could stay in the the Oriental Suite, the Hi-Tech Suite (which i wanted to check out), the Frontier Cabin Suite, the Huntsman Suite, the Prarie Cabin Suite, the American Suite, the Vintage Cabin Suite, and the Flyway Suite.

Weird factor.

Even weirder?

Remember how I said there were 3 hotels? 1 of them was in town - we were outside of town, but number 3 in that lineup was next door.

No, literally NEXT DOOR.



It looked like the two hotels were attached, but there was a line of trees between the properties. Reviews said that the people who work at Super 8 - the attached hotel - are super creepy. However, the people that worked in ours were nice so apparently the trees hold off the creeps for another few feet.

We're not big partiers, but it was cool to get together and jam out.

I was sick on Saturday. I get this thing once a year, usually around winter where I'm nauseous all the time for about a month. I went to the doctor once about it and he thought it was morning sickness. Which, obviously it was not, so now I no longer go to the doctor about it.

Here are some interestings notes, questions, quotes, and other random crap I learned on my journey to and from Iowa.

-"Interesting is code for Disgusting." but only when I'm talking about food. cause then I called someone interesting and it backfired on me. well. i guess it could work for some people. i'll work on that one later.

-"Funeral Advantage? Really? Why would you name your insurance that?" i'm still wondering.

-"Diplomat Coffee" yeah, our room rocked. we didn't get just any old coffee, we got diplomat coffee.

-There are apparently 100 things that make a guy undateable. Ask VH1. The countdown was highly amusing.

-"Speed Limit 70" do all states have 70 as the max on their interstates? is 75 just a Nebraska thing? is it because we learned to drive 5 years before everyone else? with all that farm equipment? does that give us the 5-mph-edge?

-What's with the white lines on the interstate in Iowa? I'm not talking about the ones down the middle, there's a white line in the left lane that goes perpendicular to the way you're driving and it's painted like every .2 miles. What's up with that?

-Subway Drama: so this dude I guess got locked in the bathroom at Subway when we were there. He and some other dude and chick went and complained the manager saying he was stuck in there - like Sketch and I got there, ordered, sat down, ate lunch, didn't see the guy this entire time until someone let him out so he must have been in there for a while - so I went over there and there's a sign on the door that said clearly "lock is broken, you may get locked in." so yeah. how he wasn't expecting that confused me. I told Sketch if that happened to me I would text her. She said she'd just laugh and leave me. Thanks for that btw. But I HAVE THE KEYS!

-There is one thing I can escape from if I'm locked in, Sketch's trunk! She has a glow in the dark handle you can pull on if you're locked in and it'll let you out.

i know that this happens all the time on TV, but do people really get locked in other peoples' trunks?
we just really enjoyed the picture because it's not like the guy is just pulling the tab and getting out, he's pulling the tab and running like hell!though i guess i would too if i were in his situation.

-I really can listen to my ipod without skipping songs after all. Turned the thing on when I left town, didn't mess with it at all until I pulled in the drive. 67 songs straight. I was proud. You would be too if you knew how many songs are on there and on average how many I skip to get to a good one.

So, now the prodigal Library Service Associate has returned to a life of library, a fat cat, and a very pregnant Second Sister. Woohoo! Telling you, if she has a boy I'm golden! I don't have to have any! Cause it'll even it out!

Not that I won't have any.

Ran into BK today at the library, showed her some good music biographies and introduced her to our music librarian. Was cool seeing her around, will have to meet up sometime for food and a movie.

Work was basically work today, stocking supplies, checking-in the backlog, working public service.

Took Squirt home today after work and got to eat ribs with Oldest Sister and family.

Well.

Different from what I was expecting.

And not bad different, just different. Dark but not too dark, intense but not overwhelmingly intense. Lots of comedy, well-written and acted.

I'd give it an 8/10 on the Scale of Awesome.

Just not as fantastic as the original, that one's hard to beat.

I did love Noomi Rapace, she was fantastic and it was good to see her do some comedy totally different from the Millennium Trilogy, plus Robert Downey Jr. is quickly rising to the top of my favorites list as well. And Stephen Fry as Mycroft, oh my god so funny.

Alright, I'm taking a posting hiatus for the weekend. Yay for Sketch and Edit's Excellent Adventure! Found some restaurants and all that, should be fun.

Sketch and Edit's Excellent Adventure is quickly approaching.

Which is awesome as I haven't seen her in months.

We're gonna jam out, drink, eat, take some pictures...I'll come back with quotes and stories of pure awesomeness. Even though we don't have any definite plans, we're better at just making it up as we go along.

As for today, it was awesome. I guess. Not like stellar awesome, but not awful, okay so it was more like mediocre. According to Ellie if you use the word "awesome" for everything it becomes mediocre. She's the one engaged to "Captain Awesome" on Chuck, he calls him that because everything he does is awesome, even flossing.

So I guess my day was mediocre.

I got all the way through the Summer Reading manual. It gives all these activity ideas. Our theme is darkness and night, but their ideas are completely morbid like tour a morgue, talk to a coroner, design your tombstone, write your epitaph... seriously? Creep factor.

Also switched out my display and cleaned the YA area. I had a books to movies display, now it's "The Name is the Game" where I went through and pulled a bunch of books with clever titles, "Jesus in your Backpack", "Death by Latte", "Then He Ate My Boy Entrancers" - i have no idea what that one's about but I'm intrigued.

I also ran into a bunch of fun titles about getting over your ex, I'm saving those for Valentine's Day, that should be fun.

So that was work, after that I watched Castle - oh my god hysterical when they find the hidden camera I died at their conversation - then finished my homework, woohoo! We had to evaluate 3 online catalogs and make a chart.

I actually ran in to the easiest catalog I've ever seen which was new and exciting, but also - and this is a shocker - a catalog from hell.

It's pure evil.

And it's not ours.

OH MY GOD, you can't place holds through it, you can't tell what format an item is unless you go into the physical record, the search results aren't sorted, you can't limit your findings, there's not advanced search option, I was like seriously?

I mean, I know our catalog is confusing, but at least it gives you results, with this one you're screwed if you don't know the exact title and author.

Anyway, rant over.

First vacation vacation I've taken since...oh jeez. I don't even remember the last time I left the state.

Well, that's depressing.

Think it was camping with Second Sister's family. And that was like 5 years ago.

All my other "vacations" are for camp - and that's everything but a vacation. Oh well, it's worth it.

So yes, I'm taking my camera - or my "hand attachment" as she calls it. Though I haven't taken pictures with it in like a year.

Like I said, not much time for a vacation when you're working 40 hours a week, plus taking classes, plus family stuff, plus camp stuff...

So I'm stoked.

Started my homework today, though I had more questions than answers. Glad I have smart friends also taking the class - that's helpful. We just started and I'm already totally lost.

Oh well, I just gotta figure out what books they're talking about so I can figure out how to catalog them. It's a group thing, they divided us up and we're all supposed to add in a bunch of stuff, work together and catalog items.

So if I do something wrong they can fix it. Huzzah!

Once I get that all sorted out I'll be ready to roll on the other stuff. Evaluating catalogs and making a chart.

Easy enough, I just gotta get it done before this weekend since I'll be gone.

I know, sorry, boring ramblings.

What else is exciting?

Umm...went in to work today for two hours. Taught Squirt how to do a trace list.

I used to love doing them at the home library. Kept me entertained for hours.

Though you rarely find anything.

Which is good and bad.

Good cause it means you're doing your job, bad because it gets old fast.

But, on the rare occasion you do find something - and these are things that were supposed to be pulled at one time or another and they weren't where they were supposed to be - you grab it and do a victory dance.

That was our motto when we were done with the lists as well.

Toss it and do a happy dance.

That's what I'll do when I'm finally able to graduate and be done done with school.

No homework, just work work. Though a doctorate sounds like fun.

Hey, a girl can dream.

But I don't want to be one of those lifetime students.

Be overloaded all the time.

Even though it'd be cool to throw "dr" in front of my name. or "phd" at the end of it.

Moving on, Carter and I are gonna jam out to some more Benson and Stabler kicking ass.

How they thought they could replace them I'll never know.

I think I'll stop working my way through the seasons when I get to that point.

Yes, I continued to have moves like Jagger today.

I'm sure you were all wondering.

I moved from my predecessor's old desk to a desk of my own - for some reason I had two desks even though technically I had no desk at all. Which doesn't make sense, but it does make sense if I explain it correctly.

I wasn't assigned a desk - they just needed a place to put incoming supplies since I'm in charge of it, so it went to the desk it was going to before. Then Mentor cleaned off an area for me in a youth workroom so then I had that desk, but not really as it was never assigned.

Now it's assigned.

Sort of.

Superwoman is still figuring stuff out.

Doesn't matter, I don't really need a desk, I don't know that I'd actually sit at it and use it, I just need a place they can put the supplies that I will know to check so I can grab them and distribute them. It's easier than running up to 3rd floor all the time just to check.

Moving desks was just one of my off-desk hours, the other I spent cleaning up the YA area. Now all the shelves are edged nicely and the displays are full and in the right places with the right statuses...I give it about 12 more hours before it's back to destruction.

And I won't even be there to fix it, that's right! I'm at the home branch tomorrow! All day!! With the new new guy, who I guess is actually an new old guy since he worked there before but that was before my time. I have yet to meet him though I hear he's awesome.

It'll be cool going back and getting to work there again. Plus it'll be nice since it's a little slower there I can actually make progress on my The Help booklist. I've got my titles, now I just have to come up with short summaries to go along with them. Plus a main thing about the original book. Maybe throw in something about the movie. Who knows. I'll send it to Info-Man when I'm done, he's the genius with this stuff so he can fix it if it sucks. Which I don't think it will. I've got plenty to choose from. There's a serious amount of material on civil rights fiction - especially with the southern states.

I'm sorry, nerd moment.

Aside from that I talked to Sketch and we continued planning for Sketch and Edit's Excellent Adventure: Year One. We picked a weekend between our birthdays and a location halfway between our current locations to meet up, jam out, take pictures, troll the streets of whatever the name of the town is that we're staying in. And the countdown has begun. 22 days. Then it's on.

We are talking hotels, she found one that has a log cabin theme. Then there's one with a Victorian theme. Which led us to a discussion on whorehouses. Not sure why. Which led me to explaining the difference between a whorehouse and a whore's house. Cause you gotta have more than one living there to make it a whorehouse, right? Cause otherwise it's just a whore's house.

All the while avoiding the decision about choosing a room - which is what we do best. We're all about avoidance. I told her to pick whatever, I'm fine with it. She didn't like that.

So maybe I'll stick you guys with the choice.

What's the best option for a hotel in the middle of Iowa?

Log cabin theme?

Victorian theme?

Regular room?

See, a normal person would pick a regular room. Cause the others are weird.

And yes, we're weird but not that weird. We wouldn't stay in it cause we prefer it that way, we'd stay in it cause it's weird. And I could take pictures.

And we could make jokes about having cabin fever.

see, i'm the writer she's the artist - hence sketch and edit - and i write her things and she draws me things. we might take the year off. not because we're lazy, okay, sometimes we're lazy, but mostly because we're busy.

props to low budget 90's music in Canada. awesomeness. i keep rewinding it, at 1:48 it totally looks like Deb from Napoleon Dynamite. guess that's just a part of the awesome 90's fashion statements.
originally i thought she was singing a dozen years, but then when you watch the video she says a thousand. but it still sounds like a dozen.

Alright, it's on.

The weekends are posted - of coures they're posted the one day i left my planner at home - so Sketch and I picked out our weekend. A weekend between our birthdays we're gonna meet up halfway, so basically somewhere in the middle of Iowa, and hang there for a weekend jamming out, taking pictures of random things, and calling it Sketch and Edit's Excellent Adventure. I'm stoked.

But it's really funny because we were looking for hotels and there's this one next to a shopping mall, and neither of us are shoppers so we were like, eh. Whatever. Then a different one has a waterpark, again, eh. Whatever. So I guess there's one with a bar next door, so that's probably the one where we'll end up.

I'm excited, I think it will be fun.

see, i'm used to the spice girls very british version of this, so when i first heard this one the actual lyrics threw me way off. both versions are fantastic, and brittany did pull it off pretty well on the glee soundtrack.

speaking of glee, i like finn and puck, mostly puck because i think his voice it better especially if he's playing guitar, but this one is excellent for both of them.
but i love this version cause it's like santa claus the rock and roll version.

Let It Snow - Michael Buble

this man could remake anything and make it fantastic. not that this wasn't already fantastic, but i'm saying all of michael's music is pretty fantastic. so you really can't go wrong posting something of his, even if it is just a cover.

tomorrow is shopping central. gotta wake up before noon for this one, shop 'til i drop then head to the farm. i'm way behind, gotta keep going before it's the 23rd already and i've got nothing!
