Since my last post was ginormous I'll try to keep this one short.

Fun things from this week...hmmm...

My favorite hockey player got to be the hero yesterday. He scored in a shootout and won it for us! And of course it was an away game so I wasn't even there to see it, ugh.

Went out to eat with Mom and Oldest Sister. Had Greek potroast, it was fabulous. Mom gave me money for new clothes for Christmas so Oldest Sister and Second Sister are taking me shopping tomorrow.

That should be an adventure...

You should be so proud to know that I've already started working on my New Years Resolutions.

If you read my previous post you probably already know one - yep, it's time to actually work on getting in shape.

Queen of the Known Universe and I are gonna work together on this one so we can push each other. That means no more junk food, less burgers, more broccoli. Except I hate broccoli so I'll have to find a substitute.

I have been working on meal plans and am making a grocery list. We're not officially starting until January 3rd though so I'm holding off on buying the stuff.

We figured you're doomed to fail if you start before the holidays, plus we have to have time to clean out the fridge and cupboards...you know, eat the rest of the cheesecake and all that so we don't have to later.

I'll have to add blogging more to the resolution list since it makes me happy.

I'm sure there will be more later.

I was informed today by Alicia Teaze - aka one of the managers of the awesomeness that is the No Coast Derby Girls who also happens to be a librarian at the university - that my favorite (well, everyone's favorite) skater Flash Gloria has transferred.

Not only did she transfer, but she transferred to the enemy.

Damnit.

All my favorite jammers leave...

First there was Busty St. Claire - she opened a flower shop.

Then it was Lt. Slamher - she went overseas for the army.

But I knew I could always rely on Flash because she was MVP every year and we were dominating so why would she ever leave?

Our record is like 59-17 for gods sake, WHY WOULD YOU LEAVE?!

It's giving me physical pain.

I know this may seem over-dramatic to you, but it's really not. If you knew how big of a fan I am you'd understand.

Is it weird that my favorite sports are roller derby and ice hockey?

When did that happen?

I mean, I'm head over heels for Husker football, that's always been there and always will be, but when did roller derby and ice hockey beat out basketball and baseball?

And then the only sports I play anymore are softball and golf.

Though golf isn't really a sport and technically I only do it like twice a year so it doesn't count.

We're well-inebriated for most of it anyway.

Where was I?

So yeah, Flash is leaving. Left already, actually. There's a bout tonight but I couldn't stomach going.

Totally bummed out.

Okay, distract me. What else was I gonna ramble about?

Oh, inservice!

Every year all of the libraries in our system shut down for a day and we have a staff training day we call Inservice.

This year's was at the hospital - which meant I got to jam out with Juwanna afterward, woohoo!

It was alright, not my favorite, but it had its moments.

Here are a few of my favorites:

"Banning? This happens at the library?!" *room erupts....no our patrons are all perfect angels*

Oh and we also learned that if you vary your clapping speed it makes it sound like there's more people in the audience. Apparently a tip our director picked up after attending many of her late husband's gigs.

Our table had fun. Basically the same group as last year. I sat between the Queen of Awesome and the Queen of the Known Universe.

Talk about feeling inadequate...they're queens and i'm like...not.

This year's focus was all about health and wellness - hence the hospital location. We talked about physical and a little bit of mental stuff and how our health affects how we deal with patrons so we should always be at our best, etc. etc.

A bunch of us went out for Mexican at lunch. Had a big table. We counted the vegetables so we didn't feel so bad about that whole day of health awareness thing. Does cactus count as a vegetable? What is cactus anyway?

After all the lectures and our director's speech I met up with Juwanna in the entryway - introduced her to a couple of the essentials, Queen of the Known Universe and Superwoman. They wanted all the dirt, but she's smarter than that cause I have dirt too.

Was cool to catch up, we're gonna have a girls night soon.

After that Queen of the Known Universe and I hit up Barnes and Noble. She had to pick up a movie and I had to buy Attachments.

I'm pretty sure I have but you're gonna get it again.

It's about a dude who works in IT at basically the Omaha World Herald and it's his job to flag personal emails and people who are gambling and all that and he runs across this series of personal emails between these two women - Beth and Jennifer - and gets caught up in their story so he doesn't flag them. Then Beth starts talking about this hot guy at work and it turns out to be him so he joins a gym and all that. It's just hysterical.

Beth is me.

You roll your eyes but it's true.

She talks like me. She says stuff I've said and would say in situations. She acts like I do in situations. She's in love with a guy works the night shift. Etc.

I'm pretty sure Rainbow Rowell just followed me around a took notes. A fact that I tweeted her about and she favorited it!

So who knows, maybe she did. She is a local.

Anyway, I keep reading sections of it over and over cause I'm hooked.

But that's a problem with me, I get so hooked on fictional characters and once they're gone I get totally bummed out and need an immediate replacement.

Luckily I have a bunch of editing I can do to fix that.

I always get hooked on them.

BUT READ ATTACHMENTS. It's fantastic. And it's available at your local library so you don't even have to pay for it.

Alright, gonna skim through it again for the 100th time then get back to my editing and crash.

It's been a long weekend and it's only Saturday.

Oh well, I got to spend my day with Space Cadet. Which is always entertaining.

Today it was french toast.

But there wasn't as much debate as usual. Though really not a lot of debates can top who would win in a fight: a snow leopard or a sea cow.

Long story, Go here: I guess I'll go home it's late. There'll be tomorrow night, but wait...

Meanwhile the boyfriend is still sleeping with my big fat cat on his stomach.

Did I mention we got home super late?

But he works nights so he needs to sleep during the day. And as he couldn't last night I let him sleep.

Cause it would suck to have to switch back and forth like that.

It was amusing when I came home with lunch at 3:15 and he was still konked out. Though he was awake when I got home around 6:15. Ate supper, watched a movie and he headed to work.

Tomorrow is margaritas and fajitas with the Cool Aunt but first is work. I get to go in an hour late but I still need to konk out soon.

Alright, it's on.

The weekends are posted - of coures they're posted the one day i left my planner at home - so Sketch and I picked out our weekend. A weekend between our birthdays we're gonna meet up halfway, so basically somewhere in the middle of Iowa, and hang there for a weekend jamming out, taking pictures of random things, and calling it Sketch and Edit's Excellent Adventure. I'm stoked.

But it's really funny because we were looking for hotels and there's this one next to a shopping mall, and neither of us are shoppers so we were like, eh. Whatever. Then a different one has a waterpark, again, eh. Whatever. So I guess there's one with a bar next door, so that's probably the one where we'll end up.

I'm excited, I think it will be fun.

Totally stoked for Charlie's Angels the new series produced by Drew Barrymore, huzzah! Starting up on the 22nd of September which I guess is the 35th anniversary of the original series - take that Mom! I must be good since it's lasted that long! She makes fun of me cause I love it. So does Sketch, but whatever. The cheesy stunts and the too-loud music just adds to the show's dynamic of comedy, action, and more comedy. Cheesefest style.

So, from what I can tell, other than Drew's company Flower Films producing it they have the three angels - which to me are completely unknowns except for the blonde who played Lucy Fields on Grey's this past year.
And it's completely different - the chicks aren't all cops who were tired of the boring daily life, one was a thief, one was a dirty cop and the other was a carjacker and it's like Charlie is giving them a second chance or something.
Bosely is some dude who was in Battle Los Angeles, Robert Wagner was going to do the voice of Charlie but there was some sort of conflict there so I don't know if he's still attached to the project. But it will be Thursday nights on ABC like right before Grey's at 7.

You know? maybe not. you have lives. I forget that sometimes.

Had a burrito for supper, it was awesome. Think I'm gonna start going there more often. They have green tea too so I give them a thumbs up. Scale of Awesome says 9/10. Was nice, got off at 5 then started season one of 24. I'm still up in the air about that one. At this point I could take it or leave it. It's not all that intriguing and I'm kind of like, do I really need another series? I've got Six Feet Under waiting for me on the shelf plus all the ones I actually watch, if this one isn't interesting why put up with the 80 millions seasons it went through? Scale of Awesome says 5/10. I like some of the storylines but others are just stupid and I want them to move in. Which they don't. There are like 8 different storylines going at once. And it's 24 cause it's like 24 hours a day. Each episode is an hour in the day and it's like that for a whole season so like season 2 would be 24 hours of the next day. So, if there were like 8 seasons, which I think is what it was, but don't bet on that I don't really like the show so it's a total guess, it would just be 8 days total.

3 guesses as to who said that. Post-its, she's talking about post-its. Didn't know people could get that excited about post-its, but you should have seen my dorm rooms in college. Whenever I went on a writing binge they were hung all over the walls along with pictures of the characters and notes about their quirks, possible storylines and all that. I'm a nerd. I pick a character name then google for images on what I think they might look like, print them off and hang them up. Haven't had a chance to do that yet in my new apartment, it might look awkward in the living room, people see that room. Granted anyone who actually enters the room already knows about my crazy but for the maintenance people who occasionally visit, they don't need to know all about the crazy.

It is about time though - not for the crazy but for the pictures and all. Need to get back into the apartment story. I actually worked on that a little tonight just character names and ideas for each apartment.

Baby, the World Spins Madly On

The world has righted itself. Well, most of it. Life is good again, I think. I mean, I only had to "wave" once today, so hopefully the rest of the posts this week won't be as sad and depressing as those of the last couple of days.
Work today was good, I actually accomplished things between shifts aka paid bills, ordered boots for wedding - yes cowboy boots going to be a fun one - registered for a class in the fall, emailed my grad prof who was apparently looking for me yesterday, and wrote! Which was shocking. I've had this idea in my head for a while, not a Sketch and Edit, but a story I've been working on off and on since Fiction Writing senior year of college. And even though I really don't have time for it - which is when inspiration usually strikes - I wrote it anyway.

I still have yet to get ahold of book #2 which I need to read by at least Friday. I think it should be here tomorrow - I'm keeping track of it postage-wise - and if it's not I'm going to Barnes and Noble tomorrow afternoon. I only work 'til 4 so I can pick it up and read it all tomorrow night.

Thursday is the play - there will be plenty of "waving" for that. They had a trackmeet today so no school which means no practice which means tomorrow is going to have to be hardcore. And hardcore as it will be I won't be present since I'm working. I'm feeling more of like a consultant than a director. Which sucks. Cause I liked directing the thing with Nic. But Nic deserves all the credit, as usual, because she's a fantastic teacher, and I'm excited for Thursday. It's at like 5 - or the thing starts at 5 - it also includes awards night and food. It's sad cause usually Amber Squared aka BFF and Schwartz - even though she's married now and isn't actually Schwartz anymore she will forever be called Schwartz - come and watch but this year they won't make it.
I usually bring them candy so I'll have to pick something up tomorrow afternoon or on the way there Thursday. I'm headed out right after work then we'll have a final practice and send them home.

Today flew by pretty fast, mostly cause I was all over the place. We were pretty busy. The meeting with my boss's boss's boss went well thankfully. She's pretty awesome and everyone was able to be there so I'm actually thrilled, plus got all my questions answered. Now I can find a peer library's policies and compare for the paper, then I'll be done with it. Well, I have to physically write the paper but I have most of the stuff planned out already so it won't take too long. But it was fun, meeting with coworkers and talking about work stuff which is totally new for me. Plus they called it my "stomping ground" so that made me smile.
