i have no title for this post.

Okay, so I should have saved the headspace music for today.

Plain and simple, today sucked. Black out of the crevices and all over the chicken feathers as I sit back and wave. Any other life mottos I can kill? Go here or there,

Staff meeting this morning was not what I was expecting. Yes, we're building a new library - if we can get the funding - so all that was explained, but then it turned to budgets and reallocating hours and since I'm the newest employee - technically even though I've been with them since May 2010 I've only been full-time since November - I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get banished to up north.

Not that there's anything wrong with up north, it's just that I finally feel like I'm where I'm supposed to be, you know? Like I love TAB - I just built an entire website for it, and I'm finally used to the supplies and damages routine, plus backup aide supervisor is a fun position so far - but that's mostly cause Slim Shady is the boss boss and she's been doing all the stuff I just take over when she's not there - and as for volunteer coordinating I had four volunteers in today, one of them for his second day since he trained yesterday and they rocked. I like the location, pace, staff, patrons, it just fits.

Immediately after the meeting I went to the home branch for an hour and was talked down by my trainee who is fantastic and logical and reliable and all that and made me see things that I might have missed cause I was upset. If it all works out I owe her dinner.

So today sucked yes, but I had some great people to talk to, Trainee, Joe Studley, the authentically awesome one and only KB, Slim Shady, even BossLady searched me out cause she could tell I was freaked. I'm sure it'll be fine and I'm over-reacting,

Anyway, so after that whole crapfest I headed out to see the boyfriend and we hit up the new Bourne movie.  He's fantastic - the boyfriend, not Jeremy Renner though he's great too - because pretty sure no one else was really looking forward to seeing that movie since it's not actual Jason Bourne - but he put up with it anyway cause my day sucked and he loves me. Talked for a while after but now I'm back and ready to crash.

I'd give Bourne about a 6/10. It was alright but mostly because it had Jeremy Renner and Rachel Weisz, two of my favorites though Jeremy more recently than Rachel. She was pretty kickass, had a few Mummy Returns flashbacks but it was him that did the majority of the fighting.

I will have to go back and watch the original trilogy though to remind me all of the ins and outs of Treadstone and Black Briar and all that. I recognized the faces but the last time I watched any of the movies was on New Years like 3-4 years ago.

Alright, music then crash.

Songs of the day:

Bury Me - Thirty Seconds to Mars

I hate myself for loving you

So apparently, a guard cat Carter is not.

I mean, he can meow tough and stare boldly, but when it comes down to someone breaking into my apartment - someone being my sister and the breaking in was actually her using my spare key - his only defense mechanism was to lift his head, see it was her and go back to sleep.

Like eh, yes, I see you rifling through things, but I'm cute and fluffy and chasing you down would just bring great stress and tiredness and I just don't have the energy right now. I mean, I only slept like 7 hours last night, then went back to bed immediately after she left for work. I need my full 15 hours or I'm just not functional.

I know, his life is so rough.

So yes, I forgot my wallet this morning, which I didn't realize until I pulled up to the parking lot, reached for the key card in my wallet and went, well crap.

Then of course the library is blocked off for this big event so I had to park in the garage - making me late - but I don't have cash so I had to panic call Oldest Sister to see if she could bring my wallet so I could get out of the garage and into my actual lot.

So yes, I was late, by like a minute, think I walked in at 9:06 instead of 9:05 but I stayed late tonight helping this dude check out music books so we're covered.

Talk to Queen of the Known Universe, she's got my back.

As does the New New Guy (not to be mistaken with the Old New Guy)  He is now the damages king - aka Sir Damaged - so I was going over training stuff with him and that's just basically stuff that Fearless Leader and Queen of Awesome have taught me throughout the years.

Plus I got to see some of my favorite people, Oldest Sister came to bring my wallet, Adopted Little Sister stopped by as she does every month or so and I got a glimpse of the great KB this morning but after that she vanished. Will have to get lunch at some point or another when we're actually both there and available at the same time.

Water polo? Really?

Got a lot of air time, is it worth it?

Maybe it's just cause I haven't actually watched it. I just fast forward to like swimming, beach volleyball or gymnastics. Haven't watched any archery, though it does look interesting. You can thank Katniss for that spike in popularity.

Alright, aside from the forgotten wallet I did fairly well today, and look yet another pre-11:50 post time, but don't get used to it.

I'll think of a reason later.

The contents of my Yellow Castle Bag:

-Nametag from Children's Lit
-Pink Nike golf ball
-Menu from La Cerreta restaurant
-2 Garden stakes for free salads from Noodles valid through August 31st, 2012
-Unused VIP parking pass and 2 tickets to Saltdogs game from July 2nd, 2012
-Ibuprofen bottle - half-full
-Grade School basketball tournament program
-Toothbrush
-Packs of gum: 2
-Pens: 2
-Sharpie marker
-Headphones
-USB adapter for car and wall
-Flashdrive
-Pepperspray
-CPR kit - don't mix those up
-Shades
-Fingerless gloves
-Nametag lanyard

Finalized camp stuff today. Picture CD's were burned, thank you's were written. All that's left is for Jim to send them and he's on that.

SO I'M DONE!

Until like MAY!!

Which means I get to focus on other stuff in life, like the fact that the boyfriend and I have officially been together for 7 months, or that Fearless Leader is ditching us meaning we get to pick up the excessive amount of duties that she acquired throughout her 3ish years of service.

I'm still crying inside, I think we all are.

Or that school starts in a couple weeks which means I gotta get together with the Library Goddess to come up with a schedule for grad assistant stuff aka comp sessions, conference specifics, etc.

And then the three classes and homework to go along with them.

I foresee more carpool sessions with the awesomeness that is KB upcoming.

But for now I'm going to enjoy my "time off" aka just work.

Meaning I need to finish editing all of the stuff that I should have done months ago but had everything from camp hit me at once.

I look forward to Spring of 2013.

Should be all graduated and done by then.

Much less stress in life, I should start a countdown or something. Those are fun.

Okay, more olympics.

Delayed olympics.

I'm about to watch Gabby win gold.

Well, technically, she did the vault, up next is the bars.

That's how far I'm behind.

Yes, I know she wins but I gotta watch it.

I taped them, I gotta at least skim through them.

Then I'll turn on some Wipeout and crash.

Ha.

Song You Know But Forgot You Knew It

"I'll Think of a Reason Later" - Lee Ann Womack

"did i mention i don't particularly care for her?"

Carter is pretty zenned out for being forced out of his favorite farmhouse and dragged back to the apartment.

He actually didn't spaz out in the car either, I think he's secretly a Lily Allen fan. That's who we jammed to on the way back.

Look, I haven't posted this in like a whole 8 months.

Look, a legitimate post before "11:50 PM".

Glory days, Glory days...

Okay, I don't normally suck at posting every day.

Been a bit overwhelmed lately but everything is perfect now.

Today was pretty good, aside from the fact that I was completely flustered after showing up at the wrong branch. Woops. But fixed that, worked on some Food Drive stuff, planned out some more TAB stuff, you know, the usual.

Got a new nickname at work today from Info-man. Apparently as I am now the supply sergeant at the work branch I qualify as "Klinger" the supply man on MASH.

I love it.

Scale of Awesome time:

Watched "Safe House" tonight with the boyfriend.

Not bad, give it about a 6/10. Kept me intrigued throughout and there were a lot of surprises so I kind of guessed the ending but not the whole thing.I like Denzel and Ryan, but it's not a movie I'll watch over and over like RED.

Did you hear about the New Mexico lady who got arrested for overdue items? Go here: I guess they sent her a summons but she never got it then they arrested her all because of the Twilight series.

Figures.

Alright, music rec and I'm out. Exhausted and checked my schedule so I know which branch to show up at tomorrow.

Got to jam with my carpool buddy today. About time since she's in the basement now.

Says I must have older siblings cause of my music preference.

I'm just cultured.

But yes I do have older siblings.

"For a few to be immortal many must die."

Have you ever had one of those feelings where you're running cause you’re late,
Well you're not really running it's more like jogging,

 But it feels like running,

And the air that fills your lungs is so cold that it makes you feel like you're going to throw up, pass out and/or have some sort of asthma attack?

But of course you can't throw up, pass out, and/or have some sort of asthma attack because you're in class.

And you have to present your final project.

So that would make things really awkward.

Especially for the pregnant teacher in the back row.

So you make it all the way through class,

Present your project in under the maximum time limit,

Jam with your friends for one last time before the summer,

Then make it back home to watch a couple movies you have checked out and THEN end up throwing up for an entirely unrelated reason?

Anyone?

Just me?

Thought so.

It’s just been one of those days, I feel like crap but I took a shower so I’m good.

I mean, I should be celebrating! I’m done! Until June! Woohoo! Huzzah! Much excitement, yeah!

And I ran into the Library Goddess and her current grad assistant in the process.

PS – the current grad assistant, completely professional and capable of great things, her next one? aka me? Not so promising. But I’ll do my best.

Anyway, Woohoo! Huzzah! Done until June! So, in way of celebrating, and also to thin the pile currently sitting on top of the cabinet, I watched “In Time” and “My Future Boyfriend”.

Polar opposites, not only in storyline, genre, and special effects, but also in likeability on the Scale of Awesome.

“In Time” starring Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried, is about a world in which time is the only currency. Once you turn 25 your clock starts running. You have to work to earn more time or you’re dead.

Oh yeah, and it has BBT's Leonard in it as the best friend and Number Four's John Smith as the gangster bad guy around the block.

It’s not like I had the greatest hopes going into it, and dude, about halfway through I about turned the thing off and gave up.

But then Amanda Seyfried shot a cop so I figured I’d have to give it a chance. Cause I like her. Mean Girls all the way!

“Boo, you whore”

Anyway, the second it was over all I could think of was, “Well, that was dumb.” And was forced to put in a comedy to get the whole dystopian theme out of my head.

So I ended up with “My Future Boyfriend” Barry Watson and Sara Rue. Two of my favorite under-rated actors. And the movie was fantastic, as opposed to the tragic blah listed above.

Basically, Barry Watson’s character is an archeologist from the future, he finds a book written by Sara Rue and goes back in time to ask her about some of the concepts included in it, aka love, passion, etc. Did I forget to mention that there are no real emotions in the future?

But it’s a comedy so he comes back, everyone thinks he’s crazy, she works for a paper very similar to the National Enquirer so she interviews him for an article believing this whole time he’s full of crap – as is everybody else – and in the mean time is engaged to this other dude.

But like any romantic comedy, they fall in love and it’s total chaos.

Scale of Awesome says 9/10, made me laugh, made me cry, makes me want to buy it and watch it again which is more than I can say for the whatever you want to call it listed above.

That one I give a 3/10 and that’s purely for the fact that Amanda Seyfried is in it. I gave it a chance, but dude, unless you want to watch Justin Timberlake attempt to be some badass from the dystopian ghetto then skip it man, skip it.

I really did give it a chance, I did, sort of, but then Matt Bomer started acting all serious while JT was acting all fake badass and I couldn’t do it.

The title quote of this post is really all I'm taking away from it.

Quotes of the day:

Me: "But I do drink green tea and have a fat cat so that counts for something." carpool buddy and me talking about librarian stereotypes and how I really don't fit.

CB: "What kind of idiot smokes a pipe while someone's trying to play a wind instrument?!" fun times at flute practice

Alright, tomorrow is a full-day to make up for my weekend “off” so I’m out.

Will probably throw My Future Boyfriend back in and konk out.

Forgetting all I'm lacking, completely and complete...

Homework.

Ugh.

3 hours later and we're still not done.

Ugh.

Even worse? We ended up with more questions than answers which made the homework bite the dust.

Ugh.

Oh well, it's not due for a while so we can come back to it. And she's cool so that's always good for a partner.

As of now I'm gonna eat chocolate, as that heals all, and go to bed.

Looking forward to tomorrow, gonna see Titanic with the boyfriend. Will probably be packed but whatever.

Other than the frustration that is homework today was good. Staff meeting in the morning - I felt like such a nerd cause this whole cataloging class has taught me a lot about our operating system and really how to search for things and what terminology to use.

So yes, I'm a nerd and we're supposed to share stuff with our coworkers but how can I explain without making me sound like a total nerd that you can search "Explosive 18" and "Explosive Eighteen" and get results either way because the cataloger included the 246 tag meaning it has the alternate title in the bibliographic record.

Or like if you type in an episodes title - depending on the cataloger - you'll be able to find the DVD because all the titles are listed in the added entries contents tag aka 505.

Or actors names/subject topics under added entry in the 600's.

But basically if you can't find something it's not necessarily the system that's not listing it just to tick you off, the system depends heavily on the cataloger and how much information was input.

Or copy-cataloged from OCLC.

Which I think is the easiest and most common way to add something to your catalog.

Anyway you can find all that in the bib record on the MARC option which shows you how many letters are skipped in order to be properly cataloged and where information is located on the book by using code.

Which I guess is irritating to people because they're about to switch over to RDA where everything i spelled out and easier to comprehend.

The only reason they use codes now is that it takes up less memory space.

And once you get the hang of them they're easy enough.

Nerdola.

Sorry, ramble-nation.

Yes a whole nation of rambling.

Can you imagine a whole nation of rambling?

We'd never get anything done!

I'm losing my mind.

This whole dewey decimal/added entry stuff is messing with my brain.

And I get to do a whole project on it and how to teach it to other people.

Which should be fun.

I'm rambling again.

What else today?

Yes, staff meeting, desk work, lunch, another meeting, more desk work, tomorrow will be more of the same, except without the meetings so I'm out.

Oh Henry, Have you got something to tell me?

You know what I love even more than B-Movies?

The previews for B-Movies that precede the B-Movie you're about to watch.

You watch them and are like, yeah, I could watch that.

Then you watch the movies and you're like no. Just no.

I often see previews for The Poseidon Adventure while watching other B-Movies.

When I found out there was a version with Adam Baldwin I was all over it.

Plus, you know with the recent cruise ship thing I thought it might be interesting.

So, finally got around to watching it tonight.

I am never going on a cruise. Ever.

I do not care how much you pay me, I will never go on a cruise.

Oh my god.

So the movie. Right.

There are so many thoughts running through my head that I don't know where to start.

First off, apparently in the original it's a storm that turns them over. In this one it's terrorists.

Why they've decided to attack this ship is never really explained. And if it is it's in a different language. Like I said, B-Movie.

So they disguise bombs as beer kegs and blow holes in the bottom of the ship from the inside. The thing flips and a group of survivors tries to climb from the ballroom to the bottom of the ship - which is now the top of the ship - to climb through the hole in the sinking ship to get out.

Adam Baldwin plays the Sea Marshall of awesomeness and yes quite like all of his other characters aka John Casey, the man they call Jayne, the list goes on, he's gruff and rude and kicks peoples' butts
then you've got
C. Thomas Howell as the injured doctor - that one I had trouble with as he's a serial killer in Criminal Minds, freakin' Foyet
Rutger Hauer plays the priest - he's in a lot of stuff but if you're like me you'll know him as Lothos from the original Buffy movie
and Amber Sainsbury who you may know if you've seen 30 Days of Night - my only problem with her is that she looks fifteen, but not only is she over 21 but she's a doctor!
Steve Guttenberg as Richard Clarke, the dad who has an affair while his family is on board. You know what? I loved him in The Big Green and yell out "we love you deputy dog!" quite frequently, but in this movie I could not stand him.

Hm. The Big Green. Another candidate for ILL.

Where was I?

The dramatic speeches and the cheating on the wife, maybe it was the character but I literally wanted to slap him.

And I wanted his homewrecking mistress to die.

Which she did, so that worked out well.

Anyway, there are about 15 people in the group starting out but it ends up with like 11, sad day especially cause I liked one of them and screamed when she died, but the rest of the time I was just like, really? Another speech?

I see why you were a made-for-tv movie.

Like, Guttenberg, mid-catwalk while the ship is literally burning beneath his feet decides to turn around and address his family.

Mid-catwalk.

Fire is literally feet below him.

I think I will take this moment to apologize for all of my faults, then turn around and suddenly become frozen in fear.

And half an hour later I'll make it to the other side.

Anyway, four hours later the movie's over and I'm still sitting here going...huh.

Cause really, what is the appropriate reaction to have after watching a B-Movie?

They always give me pause.

But I like B-Movies. They rock. You should check out Cosmo's War of the Planets, actually that's more like a D-Movie, but we watch it every year at teen camp nonetheless. The cheesier the better.

I'm giving it about a 4/10 on the Scale of Awesome, but that makes it about 4/5 on the scale of B-Movies, so that's rockin' man.

If you like ships, and overdramatic speeches and water and all that crap this may be the cheesy movie for you.

Just make sure you have homework to do while you're watching it.

Or have Facebook available. Apparently people find my commentary humorous.

I still want an underwater flashlight. I'll figure out something to do with it, I'm sure.

In other news, saw my carpool buddy at work today. It was actually really funny because we both froze at the same time, then reacted.

It was one of those, I know you, but not in this context, kind of moments.

But it reminded me that I have a huge assignment thing due this weekend and need to get started on it.

I'll save it for tomorrow night.

And Friday.

Cause it will take both.

I think I understand it.

I mean, I know I don't, but I think I can fake it.

It's cataloging man.

If I follow the book, and the examples online....I should be...screwed.

Eh, I'll figure it out.

"Oh Henry" The Civil Wars

so i had an "oh my god you're an idiot" moment today.

realized that the joy williams in the civil wars is joy williams.

as in THE joy williams.

the singer of "one of those days".

which may mean nothing to you, but oh my god i sing that song almost weekly.

even posted about it in like november. My Life in Closed Captions: It's just been one of those, one of those days...

no idea they were the same person.

to be fair she sounds completely different as the civil wars are folk music and that was pop.

it was a serious moment though. i literally sing that song weekly. because, as mentioned in yesterday's post, i'm a magnet for stalkers and trouble and really anything that goes wrong in the library. and it's often "one of those days".

But tomorrow is a new day.

And a food day, huzzah!

So I'm out, exhausted, gonna have to watch some sort of comedy to get that cheesy-drama-scary-mass-of-whatever-you-want-to-label-it out of my head.

Bring on John Casey and the Buy More crew.

Rules of partial generality

Sounds like a new life motto.

Had my first Cataloging class today.

I went in knowing nothing.

And that's even after reading three chapters of the textbook before the class itself.

It reads like a math book.

Seriously, it's a bunch of code - which usually I can get from my tech stuff, but this is totally different code, nonsensical, obnoxious, repetitive but not repetitive kind of code that's going to drive me nuts for a semester.

The class itself wasn't all that bad. I went in thinking everything was going to be completely over my head, but the teachers explained it well enough that I took away a lot more than I went in with.

And okay, it's not like I'm completely clueless in this matter.

I stare at the catalog all day long at work, running countless searches and finding shortcuts through the new system.

I've run across all the MARC stuff, but I've never understood all the |'s and the $'s and the abc, etc.

Here's what I learned today.

245 10 $a Black Elk speaks : $b being the life story of a holy man of the Oglala Sioux / $c John G. Neihardt.

Yes it took me 3 and a half hours just to get that down. And it's probably horribly horribly wrong.

But that's just one of the lines. 245 is all about the title and statement of responsibility.

The 100 line comes first which has something to do with the author or illustrator or whoever.
245 is the main title
246 is another title thing
250 is about the edition
260 is the publisher and location

And I'm sure there are more than that but that's all we got through today.

It's like this big coded puzzle thing. It intrigues me yet has me shaking in my space boots at the same time.

The assignment don't look too difficult. Once I figure out the patterns I'll be alright.

Think I'm going to re-read those chapters again, now that I can semi-understand what they're talking about.

Other than the joy that is code I got to jam out with my carpool buddy. We kept each other awake...for the most part. No, we were up. And participated and all that. Her more than me. Cause she's smart like that.

We made snarky comments, talked family, baby names, blogs and all that. She gave me the title for this one. It was one of the many new phrases that will become my new vernacular until end of April.

I'm just glad I have people at work that I can get tips from. Especially the cataloger turned public service associate who I get to work with now on a daily basis. She cracks me up.

I have a feeling I will be overloading her with questions for the next few months.

Song of the night:

Because I'm feeling random.

"You're the Inspiration" Chicago

granted he's not Peter Cetera, but he's not bad as a replacement. and technically he's been a part of the band longer than Cetera ever was.

but if you like Cetera better you could go with this version

random, but okay.

cause it won't let me post the original video, you have to go here for that. Love the 80's style. You ever wonder what people will say about 2012 videos 20 years from now?

Alright, I'm off to get some much needed sleep.

I did pretty well today, considering I only got about 5 hours of sleep last night.

Something had me wired and I couldn't sleep. Nervous maybe. Watched NCIS Los Angeles for a while hoping it would put me to sleep, it actually just made it worse. Tried turning it off, didn't work was still in and out.

Tonight I can legitimately stay up and not worry about anything in the morning. Cause we're CLOSED! for the holiday. MLK ROCKS!

PS - Cool Aunt, couldn't get into your office as the main door to your area was locked. Will leave you two notes next time. If I can get in next time. Otherwise you're gonna have a stockpile buildup by the end of the semester.
