"Nope, it's there forever. Like Maggie Smith and her tramp stamp."

Took last night off. Figured you'd heard enough from me the night before.

Yes, it was epic.

But I promise it won't happen again for another 500 posts at least.

A few things you missed:

1. Watched Trance with the boyfriend.

Weird. Weird. Weird. It started out really good and then everything circled back so it was okay, but in the middle it got really really weird. Scale of Awesome says 6/10.

2. Killer Women finally premiered. So excited for the return of Beth Riesgraf. It was weird seeing Carla play the cop instead of the bad guy. Or girl, sorry. I miss Burn Notice already.

3. Jordis Unga now follows me on Twitter.

I know, I freaked. The only problem is that I found out at lunch when I was surrounded by people. I could feel my eyes pop out of my head, it was ridiculous.

For those of you know who don't know, Jordis Unga is wicked awesome. She was on the Voice season two and she was my pick for the winner but she got beat out mid-season.

Here she is on INRX cause my Voice clips aren't working.

Epic.

And her new single is officially out.

So take that world.

4. It snowed like crazy today. Like all day. It was supposed to stop in the morning, then at noon, but it went on until like 3. I like snow, I do, but driving on it sucks.

5. TAB meeting this afternoon. We picked out the teen Summer Reading events for this year and planned out our first web series episode. Maybe I'll post a link when it's published.

6. The People's Choice Awards were on tonight. Sketch and I did some commentating as always. Lots of fun.

Here are some things I learned:

-Not all of those waitresses were female. "Some of me are definitely dudes."

-Ellen Degeneres bakes a hell of a cookie.

-Justin Timberlake thinks putting the dishes in the dishwasher is healthy for your marriage.

-People still watch The Good Wife.

-They're bringing Chuck back but they're calling it Intelligence.

-Beth Behrs can sing. And rap.

-Adam's speech was still my favorite. 3 guesses why.

If you know me you got it in 1.

-Drew loves fanny packs. That is one thing I didn't know about her.

-Sarah Michelle Gellar and Britney Spears somehow majestically have never won a People's Choice Award until tonight. What happened when they were popular the last time?

-Le man, Le myth, LeBlanc has still got it. Unfortunately he couldn't perform his honky-tonk LeBlanc-a-donk cause they were in a rush.

-2 Broke Girls still rock, even when live.

and that's all I got.

on to the music.

Who Needs Sleep - Barenaked Ladies

miss these guys too.

I Almost Do - Taylor Swift

love this one. yeah i know, she's juvenile, whatever, it's a good song.

out. legitimate pre-midnight post, holy crap tag in use.

Might be the equivalent of you falling on your ass and landing in a pile of Christmas.

I'm sorry, but that's the best line ever.

Go Blacklist! Really loving this show, definitely my favorite of the new lineup and I'm glad the ratings agree.

The rest can die, except the Crazy Ones which has its moments, and Back in the Game cause it's entertaining. Think Trophy Wife is already on its way out, but really it had no chance.

So today was dead.

Literally, I don't know if it was the holiday or the weather but I was on the front desk by myself for two hours in a row and I think I helped maybe 5 people total. The majority of my stuff came over the phone or people running in right before we closed. Which makes the rest of the day really boring. Especially when there's nothing TAB-related to do cause I've done it all already.

But at least tonight was fun. Watched The Voice battles, some pretty good ones so far I only lost one of my top 20, then Blacklist obviously, then it was on to Castle - glad she's back, and 2 Broke Girls - "This thing hates women so much we should call it Texas!"

See what happens when my boyfriend's away?

I go back to being boring.

Which actually is okay at the moment because next week is really gonna suck so I should enjoy the laziness while I can.

It's Comps.

I'm freaked.

Everyone is all like, you'll pass don't worry about it, but see they're not your average papers. If I fail even one out of four I don't graduate, I have to retake it next semester.

So Superwoman and Oldest Sister have agreed to proofread them. I'm hoping because I'm taking basically the whole week off that I will finish early and then they'll have time to look them over and I'll have time to edit them without it feeling all crammed for time.

I get them Saturday morning and they're due the next Sunday at 6PM. I'm meeting my classmates the first Sunday to brainstorm which makes me have less anxiety knowing that they're going through the same thing and we can figure out what the questions actually mean instead of worrying about misinterpretation.

I'm going to have to figure out a schedule and stick to it.

That's my weakness, time management, but this is basically a life or death thing so I'll attempt to sort out my priorities.

That's all I got for today. Boring, I know, but it was relaxing and tomorrow I only go in from 10-1 so I even get to sleep in!

Gotta finish up some practicum stuff and then I'm off to bed.

One of the good ones from tonight and one of my favorite songs of all time.

House of the Rising Sun - Briana vs. Jacquie

yes that is who you think it is. i love that adam sides with cee-lo to the point of yelling. i'm so excited.

Here's the updated top 20.

Just Do It, Have It Your Way, What Happens in Vegas Stays In Vegas, Got Milk?

Happy WMC Day!!

Gonna celebrate by watching my favorite episode after I post.

Yes, it is the show that will never die even though the network killed it.

Get over it.

But right now I'm watching Castle.

Had to see the finale before I went to work tomorrow cause my coworkers watch it.

Not liking how this ending is looking.

Oh.

Okay.

Nevermind.

Now it's okay.

Good.

So I was totally productive today even though I only went in 2 hours.

Did more camp stuff.

Updated software.

Paid my bills.

Got cat food.

Did laundry.

Finished Silver Linings Playbook - the book - and then watched the movie.

Sad it's over but I can read it again if I have withdrawals.

Now it's on to finishing Warm Bodies.

On disc 2 and then checked out the book as well.

The movie was hysterical, the book is pretty funny but very very different.

So I'm interested to see how it turns out.

So this week is the week for season finales.

*spoiler alert*

Tonight was Castle's, it turned out okay, at least I hope so I guess you never know what she'll say.

And we have to wait until fall, that's just mean.

I'm glad he proposed, I seriously thought they were gonna break up cause all the Twitter and Facebook feeds said to watch it with kleenex's.

2 Broke Girls was amusing as always. Glad they're gonna open up another shop and this time it's attached to the diner. Which is handy. And Nugget Buddies!! I remember those. Hurray for Happy Meal toys.

I love that every episode when Jennifer Coolidge first enters the crowd always goes nuts.

But she is awesome.

NCIS is tomorrow. I'm so far behind, gonna have to catch up online before tomorrow's episode.

Or I'll watch it when I go home this weekend, Mom records them.

Yes, I actually get to go home, two weekends in a row. Saturday we're having a camp meeting and I'm Sunday and then next weekend Sunday and Monday we're closed for Memorial Day.

Huzzah!

So yes, I was productive, and watched some finales, and then there was the Voice of course.

Top 12 performed tonight. Here are my favorites.

Broken Wing - Holly Tucker

nailed that one.

The Story - Sarah Simmons

perfect song choice. nice job adam.

Elimination episode tomorrow, the bottom 2 go home regardless of whose team they're on.

They're both in my top 20. I'm worried about Judith. She's my number one but I haven't been as impressed with her lately.

The hype was so high early on cause she was Michael Jackson's singing partner, but now she's just being outshined by like Amber and Michelle and Sarah. To be fair, Adam has a really strong team to compete with and then Shakira's got Sasha which will be her saving grace. Blake has Holly and Danielle is rocking it, seriously, and then Usher has Michelle. People seem to like VEDO. He's okay. I'm really not a fan of Josiah. He's a pretty face but that's it, kinda like Dev from last year. Nice enough guy but there are better voices in the competition. He's made it this far cause he's good looking and he's friends with Usher.

So Usher saves him.

Kinda like the bromance between Adam and Tony Lucca from second season.

But I've already made that comparison.

Sorry.

Moving on.

Today was good.

Worked for two hours at the desk and then upstairs.

Have a really great GoPo that's gonna finish her hours tomorrow. And I have my TAB thing, we're gonna mockup our library golf holes so we know what we're doing day of.

On the other hand, apparently the person that I've been watching for over my shoulder showed up at work today. Thankfully I wasn't there when it happened but since they didn't get to talk to the person they wanted to talk to, aka my Boss's Boss's Boss - OH YEAH, it's gone that far - I'm guessing they'll be back tomorrow.

And I'm sure I'll be on the desk when they get there.

Great.

But it's okay. BossLady has designated her office as a safe space. Meaning I'll be running there when I see them.

Alright, I'm out for the night. Gonna need the sleep to keep up with my teenagers tomorrow afternoon.

Legitimate pre-midnight post. Holy crap tag in use.

Monday, April 29, 2013

It's Shakespearean, it's Dickensian, it's Kardashian.

Back at work today.

You could tell it was Monday.

Lots of tired staff and not a lot of patrons so it was a little slow.

Which is fine cause it gives me time to work on other projects like more Summer Reading and volunteer stuff.

Got one of my adult volunteers started on shelving Youth Services.

She's Russian and used to work in a library in Russia so she picked it up very quickly.

So quickly in fact that I barely had to train her at all. When I went through each category she pointed out where they go and when I started her on shelving she put them in the exact space they're supposed to go.

I'm making her tag them so I can look over them, but still, I'm impressed.

That's really all I can remember about today.

Oh, except for the part where some dude asked if he could take a picture of my Green Lantern t-shirt.

But what do you say to that, really?

I told him he could find pictures of it online or find it at Target.

Guess that's what I get for wearing fun shirts.

He's another one that makes up excuses to come to the desk to talk to me. Last week he rambled about some sort of chemistry meteorology thing, I don't know I can't remember.

Tried to block it from my brain.

But Queen of the Known Universe was laughing.

Dangit, just when my stalker count was lowering out.

Castle tonight was epic. Love the flashbacks. Kind of cheesed up the drama part, but she was standing on a bomb so you had to have some sort of comic relief.

And Bones was alright. For a season finale I was expecting more. I am super depressed for Brennan now though.

2 Broke Girls was humorous.

Yes I spent a lot of tonight on the couch watching TV but I need a night off from homework and stress and all that.

Anyway, they filmed an episode - well, fake filmed - an episode of SVU in the diner and hired Max and Caroline as extras.

That's where the status is from, basically they're pimping themselves out as actresses so they can get money to pay for Chesnutt's shoes - he's a horse.

The Voice was also on tonight and of course I'm saving it for last cause I get all rambly.

Battles were last week - check out this video cause it's awesome:

Dropping it down from 12 members to 8.

I love that video, that's cool.

Tonight was Night One for Knockouts - Team Adam and Team Shakira, tomorrow will be Team Blake and Team Usher. Each artist picks their own song to sing and their coaches pair them up against each other. So they went from 8 to 4 members each for the live rounds which will start next week!

Big upsets tonight, I lost 2 of my top 5 - Midas Whale (huge shock) and Monique Abbadie.

But the winners deserved it.

Here's my lineups after Night One of the Knockouts.

Red = Adam
Green = Blake
Blue = Usher
Purple = Shakira

Judith Hill - Adam, defeated Karina in battles and Orlando in knockout round
Jess Kellner - Usher, defeated Taylor
Midas Whale - Adam, defeated Patrick, beat by Amber in knockout round
Caroline Glaser - Blake, lost to Taylor stolen by Adam, defeated Amy in knockout round
Monique Abbadie - Shakira, defeated Luke, lost to Karina in knockout round

Sasha Allen - lost battle, stolen by Shakira, defeated Shawna in knockout round
Michelle Chamuel - Usher, defeated Chelsea
Sarah Simmons - Adam, defeated Duncan in battles and Warren in knockout round
Christian Porter - Blake, eliminated during battles
Jessica Childress - Usher, eliminated during battles

Jeff Lewis - Usher, eliminated during battles
Jacqui Sandell - Blake, eliminated during battles
Karina Iglesius - lost to Judith stolen by Shakira, defeated Monique in knockout round
Holly Tucker - Blake, defeated Michelle
Garrett Gardner - Shakira, defeated J'Sun in battles and Tawnya in knockout round

Danielle Bradbery - Blake, defeated Caroline
Amber Carrington - Adam, defeated Sasha in battles and Midas Whale in knockout round
Savannah Berry - Blake, defeated Jacqui
Josiah Hawley - Usher, defeated Jeff
Audrey Karrasch - Usher, defeated Jamila

Tomorrow will be the green and the blue as Team Usher and Team Blake are up.

The most epic of tonight's battles was probably Sarah Simmons vs. Warren Stone. You can check it out here:

It's amusing because they post all these behind-the-scenes sort of videos so you can get to know the artists.

Here is my favorite for Team Adam

(Dolly Partner, is that weird? Yes it's weird.)

and Team Shakira

(don't worry I can't tell them apart either Tawnya. and Bruno Mars? I can see that.)

and of course my other music rec of the night is:

Dip it Low - Christina Milian

alright, back to Diners, Driveins and Dives.

making me want a hamburger.

Monday, December 10, 2012

There will be an answer, Letter B.

Quote of the day comes from the Things Overheard at the Library section:

"I'll put some paint over it, they'll never know the wall was burned."

I absolutely hate this commercial.

But I still can't get over the kids in the end.

An awkward of awesome.

Reminds me of all the other obnoxious commercials that make me want to throw things.

Which takes me back to hanging out at my great aunt's house all the time after school and her threatening to throw rotten tomatoes at the Menard's guy.

An interesting day at the library. Made a lot of progress on TAB stuff. Big meeting tomorrow. Planning our holiday party for Saturday and also picking out the Summer Reading Kickoff activities. I have a list, but you're creative. Any suggestions for fun activities to do with kids ages 2-12? The theme is something to the effect of "dig into reading" or something like that. Thinking treasure maps, crafting fossils, that sort of stuff. But it doesn't have to be theme-related.

Though it'll be hard to top bat goggles.

They were pretty sweet.

Maybe carrot hats will do the trick.

But probably not.

As for the holiday party - Think we'll end up ordering pizza. They want eggnog. Which sounds just gross. But hey, it's their party.

Anyway, thinking about making some fun holiday cards and taking them to a nursing home. Or The Mission. Or maybe I'll let them keep them and give them to their own families. It's up for debate.

So that was basically my day. Working at the desk while planning for the meeting tomorrow so that tomorrow there will be less freaking out-age.

Though I still get nervous. No idea why, they're cool kids. Though this time got a supervisor sitting in.

Big potatoes man, gotta be on my game.

Eh, I'll wing it.

On to the music.

So, The Voice was on tonight. Semi-finals. Things are a bit different this year because of the whole it doesn't matter who your coach is new twist. See last year and the year before each coach had a contestant in the finale because everything was broken down by the teams so whoever on each team got the least amount of votes got kicked off, but with the twist this year anyone can be voted off, no matter the team.

Which led to Xtina and Adam being kicked out before the semi-finals. Now Blake has two - Cassadee and Terry - and Cee-Lo has two - Trevin and Nicholas.

But now, instead of all four being honored and them going through 4th place, 3rd place, 2nd place, winner, tomorrow someone gets eliminated and it's down to three. And then that will be the finals.

Last year they did duets with their coaches, wonder how they're planning on doing that this year.

Aaannd guess who's making a guest appearance?!?!! JULIET SIMMS!! The fantastic and majestic. Now with Cee-Lo as a manager, that's a first so it's huge.

I would be content with any of them winning. They're all great. Though Cassadee still is my favorite and number one on my top twenty. And Trevin is number 2. Glad my top two made it. And Terry was on my honorable mentions but I can't believe I didn't put him higher, he's fantastic. "I wanna know what love is" is my favorite song this entire season.

He did great tonight as well.

So, apparently, growing up my brother thought the lyrics were "Letter B" instead of "Let It Be".

You can see how that can be mistaken, right?

Speaking words of wisdom, Letter B.

There will be an answer, Letter B.

Shine until tomorrow, Letter B.

Wow. Is is really only 11?

I think it's this whole no homework thing. I feel like something's missing.

And, okay, I lied. There's a tie for quote of the day. That one and:

"Si, Gracias por la hoagie."

Max Black.

Is epic.

Think I could dedicate an entire post to Max-isms.

Hmmm....an interesting thought.

OUT!

and yes, holy crap tag in usage due to the pre-midnight post.

Friday, September 28, 2012

caught in a mudslide, eaten by a lion, got run over by a crappy purple Scion

"Thank God it's not flip flop Friday."

You know when your supervisor calls you in the morning and you look at the clock and freak out, thinking you're supposed to be at work and totally forgot or slept through your alarm?

That was me this morning. I saw Girlscout's name on the caller ID and like jumped up off the couch, ready to run to my closet.

Turns out she was looking for someone to switch days with a different coworker who couldn't make it in today.

However, I had a dentist appointment and a bunch of errands to run so that killed that.

Surprisingly, I survived the dentist.

It is not my favorite place to visit, mostly cause I have a crazy history with them.

Like literally, the only memories I have from visiting the dentist are all horrible.

Or awkward.

Like the time the new dentist asked me if I was married to my brother.

Well, he didn't phrase it like that, it was more like my brother was there the week before and he's like,
"Is he your husband?"
"Um, gross."
"Brother, got it."

But he was new.

Cause my old one got arrested.

And my orthodontist committed suicide.

Didn't think my teeth were that bad.

But I'm famous at the old dentist's office. He was gonna pull a tooth but it was adhered to the bone so he ended up cutting it out in four pieces. Which would have been bad enough except that when he put the numbing stuff on I felt like I was gonna pass out so I ran out to my mom in the lobby, smacked my head on the desk and konked out.

Woke up in his arms, apparently he was freaked.

Not exactly something that happens to him every day.

Which is the reason why I'm number 3 in the top 5 highlights list.

And the only reason I know that is the last time I went in to that office I was talking to the receptionist and she was like, "should we put a big red x on the floor in front of the desk?" and the girl standing next to her looks up at me and goes "that was you?!"

Anyway, so there was that time.

And of course braces were no fun, so there's that memory.

What else?

The first time I visited this new dentist I went in and they said I had 4 cavities. Though I'm pretty sure there ended up being 5 of them filled.

And the only reason I got through it was the nitrous being pumped into my nose. Though I'm pretty sure it was more of a mental thing than a physical thing.

Which is fine by me cause I survived.

Much like today, though of course I need to start actually flossing flossing, not just doing it when I force myself to cause I have an appointment coming up.

But my teeth have gotten better and I didn't have any new cavities so I'm calling it a victory.

"Nothing says spending Friday nights alone like a calculator watch."

After the appointment, since I was on that side of town anyway - and how weird is that to say, that side of town? I grew up in small town Nebraska, population 2500, there were no sides.

Though technically I was a farm girl outside of town, but it still counts.

But still feels weird that it takes so long to get to work and back even though I'm in the same city.

Where was I going with this?

Oh yeah, camera, I was on that side of town so I stopped in at Best Buy to get my new camera. Which I've been wanting to do for a while, but haven't had a day off off where I had the opportunity in a while. Most of my days off are either spent in class, doing homework, visiting the boyfriend, or going to the farmhouse. It was nice to stick around here and be able to run errands, take a nap and watch some of those library DVDs I have out that are due soon.

Anyway, the camera is all fancy and was on sale. It's got the same features as the bigger ones but it's still compact and I can carry it in my pocket.

Well, my coat pocket, it's not that compact.

But I'm excited. I wanted to get a new one for Vegas because my old one is literally old doesn't have that great of quality. Plus this one has the photo burst option so I can take like five with one press of a button. Figured it will be good to capture some night life or entertainment in Vegas. I'm stoked.

Even more stoked than I already was.

"Nothing like crying into a bag of Doritos on a Friday night."

After buying the camera - and the new Avengers movie - I got some groceries, did some laundry, started season one of Grimm - one of my many library dvd's - and took a nap.

Which was fantastic.

As is Grimm. I always meant to watch that one but never got around to it. Glad I waited 'til the DVD to get out cause I'd be totally lost without the first episode.

Oh, and somewhere in there I got gas and went to the carwash. Which my car was in desperate need of.

It's so nice to be able to wash the thing and then not have to drive on gravel roads to get home immediately after.

Cause that just kills the whole clean thing.

So the whole day off was pretty great, though I'm especially partial to the nap section of it, since I've been in dire need of an afternoon nap since the last time I had one.

I know, I'm old.

I'm feeling it.

But then I go to work and am told repeatedly how young I am for this job and then I'm okay.

Tomorrow I'm back at work, then heading out to see the boyfriend. Oh, and the Husker game is tomorrow night too, which I forgot until now so I'll have to DVR it. Though I'm assuming we'll do something similar to last time and go out to eat and watch it. Cause that was fun.

Alright, music for the night and then I'm out.

Carter is already sleeping and is stretched out so much that he's claimed an entire couch cushion. Did I mention he's a big fat Garfield-like cat? Perhaps I'll take a picture with my brand spanking new camera.

50 Ways To Say Goodbye - Train

love the melody to this one. i have no idea what's going on at 4:06-:07 but it's hysterical.

Raise your capri to the sun.

Other things I learned this week:

-"Almost" is the longest word in the English language with all letters in alphabetical order.

-The reason firehouses have circular staircases is because they used to have horses and horses can walk up regular stairs, but not circular ones.

-My family is capable of remaining sane and semi-calm. We get thrown out of places like Valentino's and churches, so I was proud we made it the whole way through without a glare or comment.

-There's a law in California guaranteeing sunshine to every resident.

- On average more people fear spiders more than they do death.

Finished my homework and posted it. That's pretty much all I got today. 9-6 at work, obviously, did a lot of supply stuff. Jammed with a few of my favorite people.

I'm trying to figure out if I like pistachios or not. They're actually really gross. But I've eaten half a box over the past week.

They're gross.

Vomitrocious even.

But they're here.

And I'm eating them cause they're here.

They need to go away.

But if I eat them then they'll be away.

And i don't have to buy them anymore.

"What if a simulated van hits me?"
"I'll hit you in the face with a pillow."

Name that quote.

So yeah homework's done, I'm good until Saturday which is class. Then it'll be more of the same.

I'm out, long day tomorrow. And the day after that.

Started food drive planning stage, I'm stoked! Activity is staying under wraps at the moment as it's a work in progress but I'll tell you all about it when it's finalized.

"Barbara Ann" Beach Boys

grew up with this oen.

oh yeah, title is from 2 Broke Girls. Which I'm way behind on. But Max throws Caroline a birthday party and it's pathetic. And they drink capri sun. and it's fantastic. The episode, not the party.

Monday, May 28, 2012

now you're just somebody that i used to know.

Ah, living the dream.

The vacation was great, short-lived, but great.

So I'm back to life fulltime tomorrow, which is fine, I have a lot to do. Juiceboxes, finish campfires, etc.

Visited the cemetery today with mom and great aunt, it reminded me of a story my uncle told me a few years back. Apparently, one of our relatives was quite the drinker and the doctor told him it was unhealthy so he should quit. The dude looks at the doctor and says, "I know a lot more old drunks than old doctors."

Was cool to see the headstones and hear the stories. Learn family history and all that. Though a little creepy considering you never know where to step.

After that I watched some more Swamp People with dad, got caught up, and yes HeeHaw clips as well. Had them all lined up for certain sketches. Then watched some Leverage, mom liked it so that was cool. I got her hooked on Chuck before, looking forward to the season premiere for this one. Gotta have something to watch, my favorites are dropping like flies either being cancelled or the storylines suck.

I've given up on Greys, Private Practice, Glee, Body of Proof, and Criminal Minds - I really like that last one but if Paget is gone gone then I'm officially done. Will have to watch the finale and see what happened. They better not kill her off for real this time.

Then they cancelled Chuck, possibly GCB, plus the Closer will soon be over, which leaves me with Castle, NCIS, the Voice, and....crap, what else is on my DVR? Leverage, Warehouse 13, Hot in Cleveland, that might be it. And I don't watch those live. Oh Bones, but I'm behind on that. As well as Big Bang Theory. 2 Broke Girls, I love that one. Watched a bit of it tonight as well, Max throwing Caroline a birthday party and them ending up the prison to see Caroline's dad but instead Max met an old ex who had her tattooed on his stomach. Awkward.

Wipeout is gonna come back for the summer, love that one. We watched highlights of it at Stop Class.

Made the day go by pretty quickly.

I'm sure there's something I'm missing, I could just check the DVR but I'm too tired and lazy.

Maybe the cancellations are good as camp is coming up. I don't really have time to watch anything anyway.

So, tomorrow. Big day. And the word of the day will be: "Agliff: a verb only found in the past participle as aglifft, meaning frightened. It is related to the equally obsolete gliff, meaning to alarm."

Would you add an -ed after that? "Like I agliffed myself when I saw the creepy stalker?" or would it just be "I was agliff after he approached me." ??

My favorite covers of Gotye:

Somebody That I Used to Know

Tim Whybrow's Acoustic Cover

super cool video. except for the egg with the face. that was weird.

Lindsey Pavao on The Voice

love it, she was one of my favorites.
though the dancers were a little...much?

alright, i'm out.

"C'est la vie" say the old folks

It goes to show you never can tell.

My day rocked.

One of those days when I looked up at the clock and went, it's 4:00 already?

Which is good, because the day began when I walked out, saw my car covered in snow and went, WHAT?!

You know, this whole winter in Nebraska thing is messed up. Today was normal weather for a winter in Nebraska. But it felt abnormal.

Like I walked out, saw the car and was confused.

Who gets confused about snow in winter?

Someone who's getting used to this whole 50 degrees in December and January thing.

I was sad there was no snow to sled over winter break, but then I started digging the nice weather.

Although, if this is nice weather in winter, what is summer going to be like?

Maybe this whole global warming thing really is taking over.

AHHHH!!

We're toast!!!

Or we're going to be TOASTED!!

I don't know. Shut me up now.

I've been watching too many episodes of 2 Broke Girls.

I caught back up, oh my god, Jennifer Coolidge as the crazy neighbor - FANTASTIC! I love her. She highly amuses me.

She's all over the place! Even The Closer - "I entered your picture in the ugly contest and you won the grand prize!!"

Though my favorite is still her Friends guest appearance. "If you don't want to get me on my mobile, then don't call me on my mobile!"

Aww, Friends. That was a great show. I think I reference it at least once a week.

I'd do it more often but whenever I do reference it either people don't get it or they think I'm crazy. Or both.

Just depends on who I'm around, Slim Shady can usually pick it up pretty quickly.

My siblings are fans as well, not as much as me and miss Regina Falange of course. We play the trivia game, though we haven't lately. Bet she could actually beat me, I'm out of practice.

ANYWAY, my day was good, flew by pretty quickly, made plans for the weekend - other than working.

Plus, there were girl scout cookies on my desk this morning, SCORE!
Thanks Queen of the Known Universe, totally made my day!

Chuck's Greatest

You're shaking my confidence daily...

Things I did today:
--------------------------

-Did not sleep in. Well, not much. What I did do, was forget to turn off my alarm, so I woke up before noon when I didn't have to wake up before noon. In return I turned on Sherlock and fell back asleep.

-Took out the trash and did laundry.

-Caught up on Castle and 2 Broke Girls. Was super sad for Beckett - not a lot of comedy moments in that episode - but laughed really hard about the 2 Broke Girls working in Santa's Village for money.

-Signed up for Stop Class. Looks like Cataloging isn't the only class I'll be taking in January. Now, how do I explain that I need the whole day off to my boss without her taking away points. "Um, I have a dentist appointment that day?" Not. She'll laugh, I'm sure. But I like my 140.

-Bought liquor. That's my contribution to Thanksgiving with the family. Apples to Apples and liquor. Does anyone else drink Asti? Or is that just an Everts family thing? It's present at pretty much all Everts family functions so I think it's wildly popular... however, things that are also present at Everts family functions such as "Spoon River Anthology", painted grapes, the phrase "TMI" and male cousins who dress up as cheerleaders to perform The Perfect Cheer, are not things that are involved in other peoples' family functions, so perhaps Asti isn't wildly popular either.

-Went to work for two hours. And shelved. Even though that's not really my job anymore. You can take the girl out of shelving range, but you can't take the shelver out of the girl. There was a buildup of carts, what was I suppose to do? Dump it all on the Quiet One so he can suffer through shelving 80 jP's by himself? That's just mean. Adult Fiction, maybe, but jP's? Dude, that's cold.

-Wrote and posted my paper. Hooray for Wichita Public Library. They have clear examples of both advocacy and marketing, which made finding examples really easy. Huzzah!

Things I'm about to do today:
----------------------------------------

-Post this entry.

-Watch NCIS.

-Go to bed.

Back to the alphabet rec's

Music from the C Section.

A classic and one with classic potential.

"Cecilia" Simon and Garfunkle cover by The Local Natives

If you haven't heard the original version then you are seriously culture-deprived. I posted this version because I find it amusing. I especially like the drummer who uses the tree for a drumset. They're highly resourceful.

"California Hustle and Flow" Social Distortion

there is a serious amount of guitars in that background. yes, i'm aware it's a guitar center. just saying.

Miss Almost, Miss Maybe, Miss Halfway

I've been watching too much SVU.

"Sometimes all that brooding intensity is just annoying."

I think it's getting to my head.

Gotta break it up with some comedy and music recs so I'll leave you with these and I'm off to watch 2 Broke Girls to laugh the night away. I love that show, it's hysterical.

Monday nights man.

You get that, Mike and Molly and Castle, plus the Closer once that comes back on. Although, I might have to crossover when it does. But that's what DVR is for.

No Castle tonight, some sort of 20/20 special or something. Castle's always good, I especially loved the bank heist episode. Super intense drama there.

Mike and Molly was supposed to be good tonight. Mike's mom gets a job at the school and she bonds with Molly over gossip. I'll watch that one before I crash as well. Should be funny. I love his mom. She's so awful.

Season one is out on DVD. I'm debating on buying it, but that's mostly thanks to Katy Mixon's "Victoria" character. Her Bigfoot story made my year. But of course you know that, since I've posted it about ten times.

Alright, music recs then finish this totally depressing episode of SVU, and switch over to some comedy so I can sleep. Tomorrow's a big day. Get to plan out my life for the next 2-3 years. I'll keep you posted.

"Miss Halfway" Anya Marina

love it. quite the comedian.

"Psycho Killer" Talking Heads

nerds. i love it. i was tempted to post the Bird and the Bee's remake of it but I resisted.

and just in case you missed it: Bigfoot

call that eleven.

It's just been one of those, one of those days...

Rollin' with my gnomies. Yep. Painted another one today. Think it's gonna be my thing. Cool Aunt always paints grapes on things. I'll just paint gnomes. I'll have an army of them. Yeah, Gnome Army. I like it. Rollin' with my gnomies. What? It's not like it's an army of clowns or something.

"There is a heavy clown presence in this room. It's unsettling and I'm obsessed with it! I want both more and less of the clowns." -Max, 2 Broke Girls. Love that episode. "It's Hoarders 3D: The Experience!"

okay. got distracted for about 20 minutes watching clips. must move on.

So, today. 11-2 shelving. Then painting. Then came back and CLEANED MY APARTMENT! heck yeah! vacuum and broom included. Although I still need to dust. And clean the bathroom. But the main room, kitchen and bedroom are golden.

Along with that cleaning I'm also cleaning out my DVR. I've taped all the pilots to a bunch of shows that I wanted to check out but have yet to get around to them. I kept the good ones that I'll attempt to watch soon aka Once Upon a Time, Unforgettable, and Grimm but deleted Pan Am, and some old episodes of shows I've already seen. I am keeping however, all the episodes of Castle, Bones, 2 Broke Girls and all that.

If you haven't seen 2 Broke Girls yet you should check it out. Monday nights on CBS. It's fantastic. Max is my new hero. Her personality is very similar to the voice in my head. She has all the best lines. Like stuff you really want to say to someone but refrain cause you know, you're a nice person or want to make it seem like you're a nice person.

I'm a nice person.

I think.

Shutup Sketch.

I can be a nice person. And not like Phoebe's I can be a bear cub kind of thing.

middle season two. and i can tell you the title without looking if you're interested.

Music Recs:

"One of Those Days" Joy Williams

cool video. i sing this often at work. especially after incidents that involve reports.

"Leave the Light On" Priscilla Ahn live on the Late Late Show

just a bonus that craig introduces her. he's my hot guy of late night. used to watch his show every night for over 2 years. college craziness.

Alright, tomorrow is all day and then I'll probably crash and burn so I should probably konk out soon.

Carter is scratching at the carpet. It's freaking me out. I think the cleanness is freaking him out.

I miss you like boy bands and cheap cologne, our song and chaperones...

Quote of the day:

Sketch: "I dedicated my c-section to you!"
no she didn't have a baby. see, the thing about us being sketch and edit is that we talk about really random things and if they were sent to someone that wasn't us that person would be really really confused. so, to avoid that confusion, she always makes sure that my name is the first name under C in her cellphone so that she doesn't send anything by mistake to someone else. Even if their name starts with a C and goes before mine alphabetically they get filed another way.

I was actually semi-productive today. On my day off even.

Picked up Squirt's jersey, plus bought some xmas stuff - She & Him has a xmas album, I'm stoked! Now that other people can actually tell the difference between her and her sister she's all over the place. Zooey = New Girl, Emily = Bones. Both play the title role in the show.

Aside from that I'm officially done shopping for my mother. Well, big stuff anyway. I'll continue to get her little stuff as the season goes on just because she buys the most stuff for people.

After that stopped by Target to get my Diet Dr. Pepper - can't run out of that or I'll die, then did some homework. I'm almost done with the book report, really all that's left is coming up with discussion questions that meet Bloom's Taxonomy standards and meeting with the group. Then posting all that online.

Once that's done I can focus on the blueprints for the before and after a library redesign. You know it's sad when you can close your eyes and draw out the current layout by heart. But I've got a couple of weeks before that's due so I'll just the next week or so accumulating ideas.

Aannd then got to catch up on some DVR.

"Just putting it out there."
"Just put it back in there."

Oh my god, I love "2 Broke Girls". Got picked up for the rest of the season on CBS, huzzah! I'm STOKED!
The character dynamics are fantastic and it's like the live audience just adds to their acting. It's like they're gonna bust out laughing at any moment because the dialogue is that funny. Lots of sarcasm. Max is my favorite, she reminds me a lot of Daria - did anyone else watch that show? She's got the whole sarcasm, doesn't care about the world approach while Caroline is the former heiress who's father just went broke so she's just starting out in the working world but still cares about what everyone thinks.

Plus they have a horse.

Here, check this.

love it.

Plus, did anyone watch Castle? Um, Spooky! And the preview for next week?!?! Duuude. I don't wanna give away any spoilers but it's gonna be awesome!

Songs of the day: The Band Perry. Turns out it's just the dying young song that I can't stand. The rest aren't so bad.

"I Miss You Being Gone" The Band Perry

dig it. love the song.

"Hip to my Heart" The Band Perry

lyrics are lacking but the video is pretty cool. plus it's catchy. sibling love.
