By the time I'm out the door, you tear me down like Roger Moore

Okay, to whoever got to my blog by searching for "dolly parton whorehouse stockings" I just have to say why?!

Why are you searching for that and why why WHY did that land you here?

So weird.

So the countdown 'til the motorcar trip continues.

Leaving Friday night and getting back Sunday.

Showed pictures of what we're riding in to the guard, she's jealous.

It'll be fun.

I hope.

No, I'm actually pretty excited.

Figuring out what to pack and all that is amusing. He says layers.

Gonna have to brush up on my train jargon.

Never thought I'd say that ever.

Especially after escaping them at the farmhouse.

Dad's obsessed with models, but the boyfriend is obsessed with the real thing.

Which is far more expensive.

But more lifelike so I guess that's okay.

Though one of dad's friends has one that's like a junior train and people ride in it at parades and stuff.

I was the cool kid cause I got to ride in the engine. Actually have a picture of me hanging out the side of it.

Back when I was young and cute.

I know, such a long time ago.

I would post it on here but then my coworkers would see it and then I'd be hosed.

Speaking of coworkers, tomorrow is food day for my Trainee's going away party.

I know, they're all leaving!!

Fearless Leader, Slim Shady now my Trainee. It's like all the people that were hired around the same time as me.

But Superwoman made me pinky promise that I wouldn't leave because of a boy.

Guess I'l be commuting.

Gonna have to remember to bring something this time, though I have no idea what.

Nutty bars or something of the like perhaps.

Oh, I have grapes.

That's healthy. Let's go with that.

So that's work tomorrow.

Well that and training a volunteer to shelve in Youth Services.

Work today was good. Super slow in the morning then a mad rush from like 2-5. Most of it being 3-4 which is when the New Girl and I were on the desk. It seems we are often paired together at that time and it's busy cause school gets out and then everyone has to stop at the library on the way home.

Gives me confidence that they think we can handle it on a regular basis.

Or maybe it was just a scheduling fluke.

Probably just a scheduling fluke.

What else? Oh, sent out an email about library golf asking for putters. If you have some or golf balls or anything that you think would make a good obstacle send it my way and I'll get it back to you soon after.

After work I went back to watching Blood Ties. Still on disc two but got distracted along the way.

So gonna get back to that. Or switch to DDD, see yesterday's post. See what I meant about getting distracted.

Carter's giving me the glare.

You know that "i can't sleep until you sleep so shutup and sleep."

Alright, I'm on it.

You know I'm no Good - Amy Winehouse

i know, i've posted this already.

but it's been a while.

and it's been stuck in my head all week. which i blame on Jess Kellner.

but it's one of those that i sing around the library.

well that, and this

whilst shutting things down at the end of the day or doing supply orders/summer reading stuff in the basement.

like how i used to sing george strait while shelving.

and then people notice.

and smile.

so i keep singing.

out!

Yeah, I'm gonna miss her. Oh lookie there, I've got a bite.

It's cause he's in love with his brother's wife!!

Sorry, watching Scandal.

Which I haven't done since first season.

Basically I turned on the TV to see what I had recorded and it was right at the start of Scandal.

And I love Darby Stanchfield (Deep-fried Twinkie, Shannon Gibbs) and Bellamy Young (Special Agent Stone, Ellen Darling, Hotch's girlfriend) she's the one that I guess her hair color when I see her name in the opening credits and she shares my birthday so I stuck around. It's still pretty good.

Haha, caught them kissing outside, called it!

Another call? This whole storm of the century, Q or whatever being total crap, told you it was hype. They called off school this morning with absolutely no snow on the ground. We were supposed to get like 10-12 inches, we got like 4. Barely.

We closed early, 4:30, but I got off at 4 anyway so it didn't really matter to me. We were supposed to have class at the hospital library but because of the weather we did a virtual class instead.

Dude, Webmeeting is awesome. All like 50 of us went to this Webmeeting site where they gave us a phone number. We called it and it was like a massive conference call with all of us students plus our 2 instructors plus our host. So all the audio was on the phone, none from the computer. There was a powerpoint and a chat window, it was sweet. I wish we had these in my other online classes.

I already did all my homework for that class until March, I've done the majority of Diversity homework - did the interview, wrote up the transcript and overview, now all that's left is discussion of others overviews to tie together themes and analysis. And the next Internet Reference assignment isn't due 'til the 2nd.

And see, I have tomorrow off, and I always have the best of intentions, I'm gonna clean my apartment, I'm going to write, I'm going to finish my homework, etc. But it never happens.

So here's my plan.

I plan to sleep in and watch movies all day - I have like 10 checked out so I need to fly through them. Cause I ain't driving on the crappy roads and I have sustenance so I don't need to go anywhere.

But it's a strategic plan.

Cause I always break my plans - I plan to clean, write, do homework all the time and never do it so if I plan to do none of those things maybe one of them will happen.

Does that make sense in some twisted sort of way?

I'll keep you posted.

What I am doing tonight and tomorrow no matter what is laundry, cause otherwise I'm screwed for work this weekend. That's easy enough and I can sleep through it so it's gold.

What else from today? Work was good. Super short 9-4 day but it was pretty busy even through there was snow.

Thank God for my Trainee. She always saves me from the creepers. One in particular. Wordie was there when he came in today, I told him he wasn't allowed to leave me alone until Trainee came back to the desk.

Apparently I'm too nice.

Whoa, Jimmy Kimmel on in the background, check out this kid.

Mad skills.

Here's his challenge to Jimmy.

He totally dominated that competition, I bet that'll be posted tomorrow on Kimmel's website, you should check it out.

And that's all I got for today. Just glad I don't have to go in tomorrow cause getting out of my parking lot after any snow at all is awful.

So, now I'm going to turn on Storage Wars - which was my original intention - and crash and burn, but first here's some music and part two from last night's fiction.

I'm Gonna Miss Her - Brad Paisley

classic, one of my favorites growing up. his actual wife in the video. love 0:30-0:32

On to the fiction

Life of a Teenage Writer: Part Two

The flashbulbs were blinding, he could barely see passed the first row of reporters but there had to be at least fifty of them staring at him with cameras, microphones, and handheld recorders in hand. Charlie pushed him toward the podium. His throat was suddenly very dry.

“Hey everybody,” his voice was shaky. “Thanks for coming out to see me; it’s great to be here.” He forgot the rest of his speech and froze. He looked back at Charlie in a panic.

Charlie stepped forward, “If you have any questions we will take them now.”

About thirty hands shot up. A.J. pointed toward a blonde man with a microphone.

“Mr. Smith, it’s great to see you. I’m Mark Brown from The Journal,” he said in a rush. “I was wondering if you could tell us a little about your writing process.”

“My writing process?” A.J.’s voice cracked. He scanned the crowd looking for Kate. She was in the back… and she was doing the Macarena. A.J. tried to keep a straight face and turned red. “I usually lock myself in my room after school for a few hours and try to get at least 500 words on the page. Sometimes they fit together and sometimes they don’t. If I get stuck I go for a run or do my homework. I usually come back to it before I go to bed.”

Next, he pointed to a blonde woman who was slowly edging her way toward the stage. “A.J., can I call you A.J.?” she asked, smiling sweetly. A.J. nodded. “I’m Sarah Chase Cameron from The Times; it’s great to finally meet you. Our readers want to know where you get your inspiration. How do you come up with those gruesome details?” Sarah thrust her handheld recorder in his direction.

A.J. smiled and thought called it, okay a quarter for sincerity.

“I’ve been really interested in crime and its prevention from an early age. I’ve done a lot of reading about it and some of the images have just stuck with me I guess.” He pointed to another reporter, but Sarah spoke up again.

“Do you think that your interest in crime came about after the murder of your parents?” A.J. froze. He looked at Kate but she had stopped dancing and was staring open-mouthed at the reporter, as was the rest of the crowd. They began to murmur to each other.

“I… Um…” Sarah’s eyebrows raised and she smiled victoriously.

Charlie stepped forward and cleared his throat. The audience went silent, anxiously waiting for an explanation. “It was horrible what happened to A.J.’s parents. I’m sure that it has an effect on everything he does.” A.J. slowly stepped backward, trying to imagine he was anywhere else. Even with his imagination it wasn’t working. Sarah’s smile only grew. “That’ll be all for the question and answer segment,” Charlie announced as an effort for damage control. “We’ll meet you at the entrance for some pictures and autographs in a few minutes.” A.J. sprinted offstage. Charlie watched as Kate made her way toward the backstage area, then he zoomed in on Sarah Chase Cameron. She smiled at him slyly and winked.

“What the hell just happened?” asked Kate. “How did they find out about your parents?” A.J. just paced and shook his head. Charlie approached him and put his hands on his shoulders.

“You did great kid! Let’s get you some water and go take some pictures.”

“What? No? How do they know about Mom and Dad?” he yelled.

“You know reporters,” he tried to blow it off. “It’s their job to dig up the dirty details of anyone worth interest. She probably has a source somewhere in the police department. Your parents’ case is still open.”

Kate handed A.J. a bottle of water and guided him to a chair. He sat and downed the whole bottle in one big gulp.

“I’m going to go see what they have set up for us in the entrance,” said Charlie making his way toward the stairs. “You’ve got three minutes buddy.”

A.J. sat in silence. Kate stood there staring where Charlie had exited. “You don’t think it was him do you?”

“Huh?” asked A.J. looking up at Kate.

“Charlie? You think it was him who let the story about your parents slip to the reporter?”

“Charlie wouldn’t do that. He’s a good guy.” A.J. felt the need to defend him even though he knew it was probably true. Charlie would do anything for a quick buck and more personal interest meant more book sales.

“I have a bad feeling about all this,” Kate said.

A.J. stood up and threw the bottle away in the trash, a mix of courage and exhaustion taking over. “Let’s go get this over with.”

one without a permanent scar...

Big Husker victory tonight against Michigan, woohoo!

Brett Maher is back in action, redeeming himself for those previous missed field goals. Must have had Wheaties for breakfast.

Our defense really stepped it up, especially in the second half causing a lot of turnovers.

I watched the game with the boyfriend. We went out for half of it - steak and shrimp was great - and stayed in for the rest. I attempted to not yell at the TV as often as I do on my own or with my family.

Though I'm not quite as bad as my brother, but I explained that last week.

Anyway, glad to have a win since they were our last rated opponent and now we're at the top of the Legends Division of the Big 10. Next up Michigan State @ Michigan State. Should be interesting.

The game/dinner with the boyfriend came at the end of what was a pretty uneventful Saturday at the library. I checked my work mail this morning and saw like 6 new incident reports from yesterday alone, and since it was a home game I was expecting more, but the most rowdy the library got was when this one did wanted to talk to my supervisor about some expired hold fees.

And then he was fine.

I did fill out a program planning sheet and come up with a flyer for an upcoming TAB event. We're hopefully going to do some fun stuff with the community in a couple weeks, but we'll see what The Powers That Be have to say about it. Fingers crossed as my kids are excited about it - totally their idea - more on that later.

I did get to work twice with my Trainee which was fun as we never get scheduled together, and twice with BossLady who again dissed my shoe choice.

I LIKE THESE SHOES. I don't care that they're falling apart and their laces don't stay tied. I cut them twice already. But now there is a giant hole - well, in both of them - but in one especially to the point where my sole sticks out of the side and if I were to step in a puddle I'd be screwed. As Oldest Sister once told me, "I'm not going to stop praying for rain just because your feet are gonna get wet."

But I wore the last pair - the same brand and style but blue instead of grey - until they fell apart completely.

I have this weird quirk where I own a lot of shoes because I like shoes. Yet I wear the exact same pair every day until they die horrible deaths. I drag my feet which kills the bottoms of the shoes and the backs of them since they're rubbing against my heel. It always ends the same no matter what the brand or style - with holes in padding in the back and uneven soles due to the dragging, plus some tearing along the stitching.

I have no idea where I'm going with this or how I got here in the first place. Let me scroll up.

Oh right, so yes, BossLady made fun of my shoes SO I'm pulling out the duct tape! Just for survival sake.

And though I will no longer be able to wear them to work - while good conversation starters they wouldn't be very professional looking - I will still be able to wear them to things like church softball, and around the farm.

Shoes.

Shoes.

Shoes.

Oh my god, shoes.

Liam Kyle Sullivan.

Whoa. Flashbacks to Youtube hits from the high school era.

I'd post it but it's wildly inappropriate.

Though I'm guessing anyone my age that's reading this knows exactly the video I'm referring to.

So I will instead direct you to this one as the song has been stuck in my head since listening to it this afternoon.

Even though I attempted to drown it out with two hours of Carrie Fisher's "Shockaholic" aka 1 disc on the way to the boyfriend's and 1 disc on the way back with 2 discs remaining. More on that later.

Drops of Jupiter - Train

That's right, a freeze-dried romance.

Look it up.

i have no title for this post.

Okay, so I should have saved the headspace music for today.

Plain and simple, today sucked. Black out of the crevices and all over the chicken feathers as I sit back and wave. Any other life mottos I can kill? Go here or there,

Staff meeting this morning was not what I was expecting. Yes, we're building a new library - if we can get the funding - so all that was explained, but then it turned to budgets and reallocating hours and since I'm the newest employee - technically even though I've been with them since May 2010 I've only been full-time since November - I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get banished to up north.

Not that there's anything wrong with up north, it's just that I finally feel like I'm where I'm supposed to be, you know? Like I love TAB - I just built an entire website for it, and I'm finally used to the supplies and damages routine, plus backup aide supervisor is a fun position so far - but that's mostly cause Slim Shady is the boss boss and she's been doing all the stuff I just take over when she's not there - and as for volunteer coordinating I had four volunteers in today, one of them for his second day since he trained yesterday and they rocked. I like the location, pace, staff, patrons, it just fits.

Immediately after the meeting I went to the home branch for an hour and was talked down by my trainee who is fantastic and logical and reliable and all that and made me see things that I might have missed cause I was upset. If it all works out I owe her dinner.

So today sucked yes, but I had some great people to talk to, Trainee, Joe Studley, the authentically awesome one and only KB, Slim Shady, even BossLady searched me out cause she could tell I was freaked. I'm sure it'll be fine and I'm over-reacting,

Anyway, so after that whole crapfest I headed out to see the boyfriend and we hit up the new Bourne movie.  He's fantastic - the boyfriend, not Jeremy Renner though he's great too - because pretty sure no one else was really looking forward to seeing that movie since it's not actual Jason Bourne - but he put up with it anyway cause my day sucked and he loves me. Talked for a while after but now I'm back and ready to crash.

I'd give Bourne about a 6/10. It was alright but mostly because it had Jeremy Renner and Rachel Weisz, two of my favorites though Jeremy more recently than Rachel. She was pretty kickass, had a few Mummy Returns flashbacks but it was him that did the majority of the fighting.

I will have to go back and watch the original trilogy though to remind me all of the ins and outs of Treadstone and Black Briar and all that. I recognized the faces but the last time I watched any of the movies was on New Years like 3-4 years ago.

Alright, music then crash.

Songs of the day:

More headspace.

Hurtful - Erik Hassle
he's swedish, just go with the hairstyle.

Bury Me - Thirty Seconds to Mars
video is weird but the song is good.

If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.

Met the family.

Okay, so usually, I'm the type of girl that guys can take home to meet the parents.

I'm a christian, well-educated, family-friendly, full-time library service associate, master's student, youth camp director, etc.

So I wasn't completely nervous.

Okay, I'm lying, was totally freaked.

But in the end, it went really well.

I actually like his family, they were great. His siblings were funny, his aunts had great stories, plus I got some dirt on him - not as much as I would like - but still a substantial amount.

Though the biggest thing I learned was basically, okay, I thought that my dad was head over heels about trains. And he is. But hanging around with my boyfriend and his father...pretty sure they have him beat.

So it wasn't worth the whole freak-out moment I had driving out there.

His siblings especially were great, the sister and I bonded over the boyfriend being handy, hence the title.

Though I do think he's handsome.

And that show is a classic.

Included in the freak out moment came me asking for some tips from some family. Here are the highlights:

- "Be yourself, ask them questions about him as a young lad."
- "Don't worry, you're a lovely woman. Just don't say 'whats up with the fat kid.' ... wear makeup."
- "My intentions are..."
and then my favorite
- "They will like you. You ate a delightful woman." she meant to say "are" but "ate" was better. Then she called and we discussed how when you swallow someone delightful their delightfulness absorbs onto you.

Seemed to work out pretty well and now the dreaded fear is gone. So I look forward to hanging out with them again.

Though my favorite moment was probably when they asked me about school and I told them I was getting my master's in library science. Jaws dropped. Think I impressed them.

Aside from that, a day off, I didn't know what to do with myself! Slept in, of course, watched some SVU season 12 though disc three was cracked so that bit the dust. Will have to find another copy. I meant to clean my apartment, like clean clean it but that didn't happen. Was too busy napping and watching SVU, it was fantastic.

But having Friday off means I have to go in tomorrow and Sunday.

Which is fine, pretty sure Slim Shady and possibly Fearless Leader will be around.

I rarely see her anymore, pretty sure she's a figment of my imagination. Same with my trainee. I have to poke her to make sure she's real.

"Blister in the Sun" Violent Femmes

and then one more mellow as that's my mental state at the moment. which is good since i should be sleeping.

"Go On" Jack Johnson

out!

Wednesday, February 15, 2012

and that's what everyone's talking about.

So I was so excited because at about 5:59 I realized that tonight I had absolutely nothing planned.

The first night in forever that it was just me and my cat and I didn't have to freak about homework or cleaning.

I didn't even know what to do with myself.

I debated watching my DVR'd stuff, cause it's building up. Like NCIS I'm 5 behind, the Closer I still haven't made it anywhere near the end. Even 2 Broke Girls I'm missing.

I think the only show I've kept up with is Castle. And that's mostly because after I drive Squirt home for the night I hang there a while and we watch it there.

So, I decided instead to check Facebook. Because I've been told I need to put a picture up of the boyfriend or they will Facebook stalk me and find one.

Done.

But then I had all these other pictures that I hadn't even thought of posting cause they're on my phone, not my computer. Like 136 pictures, I forgot how long the new Facebook takes to upload things.

Like 2 hours later I'm finally done with it and ready to crash.

But they're awesome.

I'm thinking about making a "Best Of" album for high school and college. Camp. Old stuff.

Should be fun.

For the moment I'm gonna crash. We had the African American read-in today, news channel came and filmed it. It's weird that that's becoming normal. I'm small-town Nebraska and that never made the news.

Wait, I take it back, it did once when our cops went on strike. The mayor had a "do not pull over" list of people and they didn't like it. So they just stopped. Had to bring in the state troopers.

Anyway, there were a lot of readers and people watching and all that. Was super cool. One guy sang the African American national anthem.

Aside from that the usual running up the stairs 100 times. I should start wearing one of those things that counts your steps. A pedometer? Wore one once in college for a class. Ashley and I teamed up for a scavenger hunt for health class. Was awesome.

So, exhausted. Gonna need to start going to bed sooner. Which means I should start now.

Quotes of the week:
Girlscout: "That really skeeves me out."
Boss's Boss's Boss and I were very intrigued by this term and have decided to start using it.

Me: "She says she didn't get my e-mail. Maybe it went to her spam folder."
Trainee: "Did you title it 20% Viagra?"
Me: "Yes! Maybe that's why it didn't show up."
we keep getting all these spam emails, it's amusing but annoying.

"Girlfriend" Avril Lavigne

love the video, it still cracks me up.

though, now when i hear the song, all i can sing is this version

Dark Lady laughed and danced and lit the candles one by one.

For some reason today was exhausting.

Which is weird, because nothing that big happened.

There was a staff meeting in the morning - we're integrating the oversized nonfiction in with the regular sized nonfiction - something that all the other libraries have already done or didn't divide up in the first place.

Basically, they wouldn't fit on the normal shelves, so they were shelved seperately. But, since it was obnoxious to look in two places for the same subject, we're adjusting the shelves and putting them together.

Should be interesting, but the main part of that is: are they all going to fit in the one room? and if not what are we moving out of the room, etc. Glad I'm not part of that whole process. Granted they asked for our opinions this morning, but still, totally glad I'm public service and not at supervisory level. That doesn't sound like a fun thing to figure out.

What is funny though is that when I went in to interview initially for an aide position - this was back in May of 2010 - they were already talking about the integration, here it is 2012 and they're just getting around to the measuring.

But it takes planning. And technically everything got pushed back when we changed operating systems.

Now I'm just wondering, if they're planning to build a new library...what year is that gonna be done?

But I love my job. And I'll leave that to the pros and stick to the desks. Today I was actually at the desks all day, which is new. Lately either they're tired of me or they don't think I'm getting enough done while off-desk cause I'm rarely scheduled for public service. That's my theory anyway.

I miss the desk.

So today was good.

Even though currently I feel like the walking dead and all I want to do is sleep.

Which is why this is going to stay short.

I got some more homework done, I've officially read everything I need to read. Now I just have to write the paper, post it online, e-mail the prof with some questions, e-mail the people that weren't at the interview, and send out the thank-you's to the ones that were.

But like I said, walking dead and fading fast.

After that I gotta edit the stories and format the camp music, then next week I'll focus more on the interview paper and whatever else homework assignment is due. There are a lot in February.

Since I have Saturday off and my only real plan is lunch with the Cool Aunt I might be doing a lot of that stuff on Saturday night.

Today? What happened today? I'm thinking. Something really funny happened, I remember laughing at something. I don't remember what it was.

Oh, yes I do. I was talking with my Trainee about the computer lab - there are like these privacy protection covers over the screen so that you can't see what the person next to you is viewing. I call them dashboards, even though they're not really a dashboard. But then again, what is the definition of a dashboard really? Right now being half asleep that sounds like the weirdest term in the world. Anyway, she laughed, so I was like what do you call them? And we came up with a whole list of what they could be called.

And then, similar to right now, I couldn't think of a term I wanted to use and was like "what's the name of that big blue thing that blocks off the restroom?" and she replied "a gift from god?" I was actually going for partition or divider - as something like that is normally used as - but gift from god works too.

It did turn out to be one today, as I was walking by the restrooms on my way to lunch.

Me: "You know what's really disturbing?"
Slim Shady: "What's that?"
Me: "Seeing a guy walking out of the restroom and still buttoning his fly."

So it was a gift from god, cause I could have seen even more of that if it weren't for the partition.

"Dark Lady" Cher

hmm...outfit inspiration for gaga?

i have no explanation for choosing this song tonight...other than because it sounded like fun.

Okay, falling asleep, I'm out for the night. I'll figure out the rest of the homework stuff tomorrow. Too tired to be logistical or rational or is logistical actually a word? Cause that looks weird.

"Words taste like peaches."

And we're back to Chuck, I'll turn that on and crash.

OUT!

Let's Go To The Hop

There are no words to describe today.

Well, maybe a few.

But they are of the four letter variety.

And they weren't said by me. Just crazies who yell them in the library.

It was a day for incident reports.

Serious serious serious incident reports.

Seriously.

Like, I've been followed to the cash register, I've been hit on by old ladies, I've been slipped phone numbers by homeboys that call me "shortie" and all that crap, but today just...

I was creeped out.

Literally creeped out.

Have you ever seen that episode of Grey's Anatomy when Meredith is on morphine for her appendectomy? And George and Finn and McDreamy are all there and she looks at Bailey and says, "All my boyfriends are here!" all dreamily.

I said that today.

But instead of boyfriends it was "All my stalkers are here!" I did my best Meredith on morphine imitation.

As I hid in the back room.

First, this drunk dude comes up to me at the desk, tells me he doesn't have a card, he doesn't want to look at books, he wants to look at me. Then asks me for money or something cause he was hungry.

Thank god for John Boy, seriously, knight in shining armor. I took off but the dude followed me.

So yeah, I ran.

To Superwoman.

Which is actually who I run to most of the time when I'm being stalked or feel totally creeped out. Cause she's awesome like that.

Although today when I walked in she was like,
"Wow, you haven't had someone follow you around in a while."
"Yeah, a whole two days, WOOHOO!"

Cause there's serious need for celebration when that lasts longer than 24 hours.

Anyway, then I go back out to the desk where I run into the old lady who searches me out and all that, then the foreign dude who's always hitting on me and talking about my jewelry.

I feel like I should just stop wearing jewelry.

But then I'm sure he would comment on that!

So yes, all my stalkers were there.

Well, most of the current ones.

Yes, there are more than one, and no I'm really not so appreciative of that.

Though, with the New Girl today, we did have fun writing our incident reports.

Mostly because we started singing The Beatles but changed it to "Can't Find Me Love" cause that's what the dude said somewhere amongst his drunken ramblings.

Then just as we were singing it the awesomeness that is Barb walked by, paused, turned around and we just laughed. Busted. Told her she'd understand when she checked her e-mail the next day.

Quote of the day:

Me: "They made a version of that for kids?"
Trainee: "Yeah, they probably have one for dogs too."

gotta love it when an adult book is so popular they put it in kids format and shelve in the jNonfiction. "Heaven Is For Real", that book is freakin' everywhere.

Actually, there are more quotes from today but the majority came from the 2 hour conversation I just had with Sketch and therefore I can't repeat a lot of them...

I had some sort of epiphany and realized that all of my ex-boyfriends hate her. They don't dislike her, they actually hate her.

Not that she doesn't hate them back, so yeah, we were talking about the current boyfriend and I told her she wasn't allowed to threaten his manhood.

Cause I actually like this one.

We'll see how long that lasts.

Songs of the day: Cause you can never go wrong with the classics,

it's like a game of "name that artist!" i do enjoy jennifer warnes' dance moves as a backup singer. but you've got springsteen, costello, waits, raitt, lang, i'm sure there are others but i'm falling asleep.
i'm diggin' it.

Stuck in my head like a broken record

Wow.

Milestone.

Over 10,000 hits and I've only been doing this for a little over a year.

A big end to a weirdass day.

You know it's weird when you show up and there's no schedule.

Trainee MacGyver'd us one, she rocks. Then we were okay.

Until I was in youth services and suddenly I could hear all this water running. Sounded like a shower. Dude runs out of the bathroom in a panic. Sink was clogged and the water wouldn't stop.

Fantastic.

Oh public libraries.

But the maintenance people were on it fairly quickly so it wasn't a complete and total disaster.

You know when you get the most random song stuck in your head and it just won't leave?

I shelved the Gilligan's Island DVD series and couldn't get the theme song out of my head.

Me: Quick, sing something else!
Trainee: All I can think of is the Gilligan's Island song.

Drove me nuts for an hour.

Pulled out my ipod after work just to drown it out.

I traded that one out for the Monster Mash.

After that it was good.

Movie with the boyfriend tonight. Introduced him to the awesomeness that is John Malkovich in RED.

"I am getting the pig!"

Fantastic.

Glad he liked it.

I still remember watching it with Oldest Sister and Squirt. They were like eh, whatever. Then the dudes showed up to kill him and they were like OO! Rewind that!

I haven't seen that movie in forever. Which is strange, since I watched it every night for like a year.

Technically I only made it through the first few scenes, but still. Every night.

Songs for the night: Said I was going to bring in the new year with Plain White T's. Here you go.

PWT's Week: Day One

"Rhythm of Love" live at Taylor Guitars

probably the most well-known behind Hey There Delilah and 1234. did a double take cause it's not the main guy who sings it, he's just backup. but that's how it's recorded.

"Broken Record"

think this is one of my favorites cause it's so random. and catchy. and fast.
and fitting since gilligan, the skipper too, the millionaire and his wife, the movie star, the professor and mary ann drove me nuts for an hour straight!

Now I'm out, and stoked! Sleeping in tomorrow. Anybody calls me before ten it better be an emergency. Cause I don't have to work until 4. Woohoo!

"That's right old man!!"
"Can I kill her now?"

I've got the moves like Jagger.

Dear Blogspot,

Today I rocked it.

Got to use my new coffee machine this morning, well, my parents' old one cause they got a new one, but it's NEW TO ME so I'm calling it new. Anyway, it has a timer so it was ready when I woke up, awesomeness. Grabbed some fruit and hit the road.

Opened up first floor, finished up the YA project, worked at the desks, answered reference phone calls, restocked the displays, did supply rounds, wrote up a book recommendation, checked in 6 carts in an hour, then stopped by the home library after work to see Space Cadet and my Trainee.

Was good to have the Space Cadets reunited. I haven't seen her since I worked there. Like, as in the last time we worked together. Which has probably been months, since I was just down to Tuesday and Thursday nights for a while - neither of them with her.

Anyway, I walked in wearing my "Tundra hat" - present from the Cool Aunt that Slim Shady says makes me look like I'm headed for a tundra, i like it - and Space Cadet did the best doubletake ever. It was nice. Walking passed with a cart as I walk in the door, looks over, keeps walking, stops walking and looks again. HI!

We talked ipods, family, cooking, library stuff.

She enjoys that someone bought me a subscription to a cooking magazine, and claims it wasn't her. I still have no idea who did it, but once I do it's on.

I miss my home branch.

It's a completely different atmosphere there. I got to know my coworkers there a lot more than my current work branch ones just because it's slower there so you talk more. Plus they have longer hours.

And I'm getting to know my current ones, they're fantastic as well.

I draw mazes for Slim Shady on my breaks. We go out for movies and food.

Fearless Leader likes my Firefly t-shirts. We talk blogs, books, movies, and dating.

Info-Man and me talk Huskers and recommendations.

John Boy teaches me all about comics, I'm learning people.

Mentor tells me all about the joys of working with teens, and shows me the ropes to talking over teen programs.

The Reference Queen always checks in to make sure I know how to do things, aka processes that I wasn't exactly trained to do but am still doing them because no one else is.

Queen of the Known Universe always makes me laugh, we talk Criminal Minds, Big Bang Theory, and crazy people.

Super Librarian Status always gives me good philosophies for life, such as "it's not possible to drink all the liquor in town, i've tried it."

Big Brother always watches out for creepers staring at me and gives me excuses to leave the desk when one approaches.

Girlscout and I talk derby, food, library everything and somehow she's always hard at work in the staff room whenever I go in there.

Superwoman is always watching out for me, period.

The New Guy and I joke about anything that's going on at the time.

The New Girl seems to always ask me questions about processes instead of other people, I'm flattered.

Cabin Fever who I joke with about writing a book about life experiences entitled "What Was I Thinking: The Hindsight Bias" and told me to tell creepers I talk to snakes so they're scared away.

The Aides and myself always joke around and talk about starting an Aides Union - as I used to be one and now I'm an advocate.

So yes, I do like my new coworkers. But I miss the old ones as well.

Sensei who I talked The Closer, Criminal Minds, NCIS, really any TV show.

Glee-Loving Boss who calls me to tell me that Temperature Tuesdays have started at Runza.

Queen of Awesome who lets me hold Maximus Awesomus, aka the Spawn of Awesome. And goes out for sushi and drinks.

Joe Studley who I can talk to about anything, and who does impressions just to cheer me up.

Space Cadet who's always teasing me about cooking. We talk about my tech-nerd-ness and her no-tech-ness. And occasionally yell out "you want an e-reader!" for no reason.

Trainee who I actually occasionally get to see since she's doing now what I was doing before, except I was an aide at the home branch and an LSA at the work branch. She's that in reverse. We talk sports, life, crazy people, etc.

Yes, I like my coworkers. All of them. That's why it's hard to leave. That's why I don't plan on leaving anytime soon.

I'm actually looking forward to inservice day so I get to jam with everyone at the same time.

What was I talking about before this whole rambling things got started?

Oh right.

Today.

I think we're finally off vacation-mode since we're fully functional.

Or seem to be.

Today was just weird reference-wise, I had this phone call asking for an address and everywhere I looked gave me different information. At first the addresses were different, then the middle initials were different, then the phone numbers were different, then she wanted to talk to someone else cause apparently I wasn't helpful. Though she didn't say that, she just said is there anyone else there. Info-man to the rescue. He told her the same things that I did and she listened to him!! Seriously? Then she called back!

Anyway, aside from that I rocked it. Though technically I rocked that since he just said the same things that I said. Maybe I need to sound more experienced. Or authoritative. Or something. Distinguished.

I'll work on that.

In the meantime,

"Moves Like Jagger" Maroon 5 feat. Christina Aguilera

dig it. my niece - the youngest one, she's like two - sings this. "got the moves like jagger, got the moves like jagger, got the moves like jagger..." i taped it and put it as my ringtone. hilarious.

We'll see if I'll still have moves like Jagger tomorrow.

Here's the Red Green philosophy for the day:
The faster you go the more you miss. As you get older you're gonna realize that we're all pretty much heading for a brick wall. The question is, how hard do you wanna hit it?

OUT!
