Fireworks, Ted, Summer Songs and a Binary Solo

I'm free!!

Until August!!

From school that is, now it's Camp J in high gear. Meeting this weekend with an impromptu golfing session after, but that's really more for our sanity and practice for the big tournament in August.

It was a good day at least. Left early this morning cause I took the Library Goddess with me. I didn't get pulled over and I only ran over one curb with her in the car so I'm calling it a victory.

Class was good, talked about literacy strategies and then presented our digital book projects. I'm just glad it's done, included everything from the syllabus but we shall see.

After that it was the pizza party. Basically a get together meal for all the library students. I met a lot of people, and it's amusing because I get introduced as the Cool Aunt's niece and they all know her so it's like an immediate, "oh yeah!" kind of thing. Highly entertaining.

Added something to the Cool Aunt's haiku, then took off and headed out to see the boyfriend and buy some fireworks.

Hit up my dorm mom's stand, called her enroute of course and she answers, "yes we're open where are you?" The woman knows me all too well. And she gives me free stuff...cause I buy stuff....lots of stuff.

To be fair I did warn him in advance that he was about to see his girlfriend spend an obscene amount of money on something that will literally blow up in her face.

But he'll probably be lighting off half of it anyway.

All I have left to buy is tanks. And I can get those from the Strang stand the day before. They have one in the Dollar General parking lot that I always hit up to support their baseball team. I used to play softball there so gotta show some support. In Strang, not the Dollar General parking lot. Just to clear that up.

After fireworks we went out to eat with his fantastic sister and her amusing boyfriend. They're pretty great so it was cool hanging out with them. And then we hit up Ted. Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis, talking stuffed teddy bear, etc.

It was....interesting. I mean, not awful. Heart-warming at times. Highly inappropriate at others.

Scale of Awesome would rate it somewhere around 4/10. It wasn't bad, I laughed, I just don't plan on watching it again.

Very Family Guy-esque. Since it was the same dude it kind of makes sense.

If you don't know the premise, it's basically this kid has no friends so he makes a wish that his teddy bear could come to life and they could be best friends forever. And it works, and then the story jumps to like 25 years later when he's 35 and has a girlfriend who's sick of the bear and all that.

Here:

like i said, interesting.

And, as is tradition. Out for the summer means a new Summer Song.

Cause I'm a nerd and declare the first song that plays after I'm officially out for the summer to be my summer song and I can't skip it for the entire summer. Which works out for some, and not so well for others.

2008: Kat Deluna's "Whine Up"

this was one of them that got old fast.

2009: "Tomorrow Still Comes" Will Dailey

he's a bit quirky, just go with it.

2010: "Remember Last Time" by Avi Buffalo

yes they're kids and his voice is much different recorded, this is live.

2011: "Tonight, Tonight" Hot Chelle Rae

technically it was the radio version, but i found this one and as i've posted the other multiple times, i'm posting this one now. shockingly not sick of this one yet.

which leads me to 2012 and...drumroll....or not.

Big surprise here, though it wasn't planned I hit shuffle as usual.

2012: "Want U Back" the US version of course

get tired of the kid rapper on the uk one.

the grunts really do make the song though, found this one and it's just not the same.

she is fantastic live.
and like 18.

and getting married.

and here's a little something extra just because i can.

Flight of the Conchords "Robo Boogie"

love the binary solo.

OUT!

Remember, Remember the Fifth of November: Take Four

Another instance of: My Life in Closed Captions: Here's a little segment called: "My boss is cooler...
Got called to the backroom today. Superwoman says I work too much. She's making me take tomorrow off. I mean, what does she expect me to do? Sleep in? Lay on the couch all day catching up on TV - OMG, have you seen "Unforgettable"? it's fantastic. - and watching DVDs I have that are due this week, aka yesterday?

Geez. Watching out for my sanity like that.

That's why she's the coolest.

Alright, so we did Posts of the Year and Pictures and tomorrow is Quotes so I guess that makes today Music...

Favorite new songs I've discovered throughout the year.

"I'm Into Something Good" The Bird and the Bee

i could recommend this over and over and over.

"Lover Lover" Jerrod Niemann

love the vocals. awesomeness.

"Tonight, Tonight" Hot Chelle Rae

summer song 2011 still lives on. somehow still not sick of it.

"Back At Your Door" Maroon 5

i've probably listened to this song more times in 24 hours than i have most songs ever.

"Time Warp" Glee Cast Version

okay so it's a little before the year mark, but i've listened to it enough times throughout the year that it still counts.

"He Wasn't There" Lily Allen live recording

i've been a fan of hers since college but just recently found this on youtube, love it.

"Misery" Glee Cast Version

i've watched this videos many times, mostly after i complete big assignments. wanting to throw all my papers up like that but not wanting to have to clean it up. i'll stick with just watching.

"Since You've Been Gone" Theory of a Deadman

my first ever video rec back on the first of the year. geez. (well this and 'heart of gold')

"Why Do You Let Me Stay Here" She & Him

morbid but awesome. stoked for their christmas album. love her voice. again, fan since college but never saw this video until a few months ago.

annnd now for the most rec'd videos I've posted.

3. "Forget You" Glee Cast feat. Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth man, no last name campaign.
Though I really do love this version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFnth12HyJU Audacity-Made, it's a program that can mess with vocals. Yeah, still Gwyneth. Just a bit lower. Just a bit. haha.

That was born after the blog was started. These two I had been big fans of before I started on here. Yes, complete opposites, but stick with me.

2. "You Drive Me Crazy" Shakin' Stevens

diggin' the dance moves. he's welsh. just go with it.

1. "Reflecting Light" Sam Phillips

love it.

Tomorrow is Quotes of the Year, such as this: "How do you expect me to get a woman if I can't blend a margarita?" Tune in for more like that one and I'll probably throw in some other random stuff as well.

"Why do you edit? Just give me credit. I'm just sitting on the shelf."

We can get crazy let it all out....

Why are the pockets always sewn shut in dress pants? Do men have that problem? Are your pockets sewn shut too or is that just another "let's torture the woman-kind thing"?
Like, "Ha! We will give them something that looks suspiciously like a pocket but when they try to use it...EPIC FAIL!"
Why are they giving you a pocket in the first place if you have no access to it? Is that some sort of style thing? Like, "These pants would look awkward without pockets. Let's give them fake ones." Cause you know, real ones would be just too functional.
And then, if you try to cut your way into it, you cut a hole in the pants. And really, how can you explain that at something like camp when you're surrounded by 100 kids?
"Um, I needed a pocket."
"So you made one yourself?"
"Well, sort of. Not that it's functional. But it's more of a pocket than the one they gave me."
And then they'd look at me funny.
Well, moreso than usual.
I know if I didn't add that Oldest Sister would.

No, I didn't cut a hole in my pants. I did buy new capri-type whatevers for camp but then realized that army green would look really bad with tangerine camp t-shirts - not that I aim for fashion, but since there will be parents and I'm supposed to look semi-adult and you know director-ish...I have no idea where I was going with that. Long story short the pants are staying here not only because it's super hot and I won't wear them anyway, but also because the pockets just make me mad. Or lack of pockets. Seriously. It's like the taunt you.
"Haha, you thought you could use us, but no!"
Yes, I know, this is very ranty and when I read that last line outloud it came with a French accent... I will try to tone it down a bit.

Was grandpa left-handed? Cause I have one of his shirts and the buttons are on the wrong side. I put it on when I'm stressed. Or cleaning. Which usually means I'm stressed anyway cause really the only way my apartment gets cleaned is if I'm avoiding doing something else. Like, oh! I have to write 8 skits by Friday morning! I'm gonna clean the apartment. Or, hey, isn't that paper due tomorrow? Nope, gonna clean the apartment. So, if you come to my apartment and it's actually cleaned and not just things thrown in the back closet with the door closed, BEWARE!

I'm freaked. Directors are dropping like flies - one of the tri-directors bailed, another has kidney stones, Jim is gone, Liz won't be there 'til Saturday night so the 6-headed monster is just down to me and Pastor. and Jayne. Who's a miracle worker in the kitchen. Plus Cherie for crafts. But music is me with 3 teen help and Nic. Because we're making her come. For Friday anyway. Then it's Becca on Saturday and I'm assuming Sunday.

And, if you took any part of that beginning rant seriously, you'd realize that no, I haven't written/found skits yet. Well, I started. You know, looking through a website and tagging a few. But they suck. Cause they're not mine. But I think mine always suck anyway. So maybe they're okay.

Jim says we should do "tankety-tank-tank" again. Think I'll save that for next year maybe since the boys that did it 5th grade year are only 8th graders now. After they're teen help and/or gone enough time will have passed to use it again.
It's my favorite so far. I'll post it later. Along with the list of others I use. Or used. As this is my last post for like a week. Yeah, Wednesday night I come back. Then work 9-6 Thursday.

But I love my job. And my boss. Who gave me 3 points today for Food Drive related statements. Basically what I learned by co-chairing it leadership-wise. I came up with some oddball stuff, I think there were 13 things I'd learned that I listed and maybe 2 of them were serious. Like how to get to all the branches and how much the Food Bank does with so little support. The others were more like if you text Fearless Leader *invisible milkjug dance* *invisible milkjug dance* over and over she'll remember to pick up empty milkjugs after work. Or Remember to grab your apartment keys out of your vehicle if you're switching with someone or you'll get locked out of your apartment for 8 hours. And if I mention the words "Food" and "Drive" to the Cool Aunt she'll drive over and donate. Oh, btw - if you're reading this, we won the competition. Downtown had the most total but per person we dominated. Mostly because there's only 7 of us.
Woops, did I just let that slip. Well, I'm e-mailing the announcement tomorrow during work anyway. So for those of you reading this before like 1PM...ish maybe 2 or 3, congrats. You've got the...what do you call it when you get the news before everyone else? Dish? or like Inside Scoop? Whatever. I can't even think of real words how am I supposed to write skits?

WHO PUT ME IN CHARGE OF THIS ANYWAY?! I was volunteered! I honestly don't know how this happened. But I'm here. And I love it. Mostly. So I should probably get back to it. Or clean my apartment.

But speaking of work, SHE'S SAFE! Well, for now anyway. Unless they really do plan to fire me - they're going to have to do it over the phone. That'll be pleasant. Budget cuts at work suck.

Oh, btw, I'm thinking of making my 7th/8th grade boys do this:

Seriously. Or like a series of them between skits. I found a bunch of others. Maybe I'll make them do it between each grade or something. But getting an older boy to sing is like bloody murder. Especially when the girls are around. But I got Jeffrey. He's brave. I'll make him be lead. Or his sister will since she's my teen helper. He was the victim of tankety-tank-tank too.

Okay, I was literally singing that refrain over and over and over while shelving this morning. Drove me bananas. So, gonna blast it out with this one, find skits, shower, finish packing...or maybe I'll just clean my apartment. And watch Warehouse 13.
Watch this.
Everyone loves H.G. Wells.

Badass.
"You were covetting my grappler."
...
"It's a little old fashioned."
"Well, it wasn't when I invented it."

See, and now I've lost all motivation again. Okay, kicking myself off of here.
I'll post next week, in the meantime enjoy this little vacation. You put up with all my crap all the time, take some time off. You deserve it.

Tonight, Tonight - Hot Chelle Rae

Summer song makes another appearance because I'm clueless as to anything other than Where Oh Where's theme of the day.

**Invisible Milk Jug Dance!**Invisible Milk Jug Dance!**

So we decided to leave tomorrow morning instead of tonight which means I actually have time to pack and sleep and shower and all that. Which is good, cause I kept putting it off. Like, I'll pack last night! Nope, do it in the morning. Then I woke up this morning and I'm like nope, I'll do it after work. It's after work...so I should pack. Cause I'm definitely not going to do it tomorrow morning!

Today was one of those. As much as I wanted to go to bed early last night it didn't happen. And I tried to post but it wouldn't let me so you're getting today's and yesterday's. But I separated them to prevent confusion.

My brain was fried by 5. Unfortunately I worked until 6! But we sent out all the food drive stuff and she sent out emails to all the staff giving them a heads up since it starts tomorrow! Then it'll be game time! Well, next week it'll be game time! When we start the competition between branches for loose change. We're sending empty milkjugs to all the branches and seeing who can fill it with the most loose change by the end of the donation period. Maybe they'll get into it and maybe they won't. We'll see. But we still need the milk jugs and Fearless Leader aka my partner for this whole thing said she was going to get some tonight and I was supposed to continually remind her about it so she wouldn't forget. And, her brain was fried around the same time I was, and, because I'm kind of a goofy person I came up with this invisible milk jug dance and continued to do it around her until she would smile. And now I'm texting her the title of this post over and over until I get confirmation.

So the wedding is Saturday but we're leaving tomorrow and everyone at work was teasing me all day about the need for pictures because I'll be in a dress and cowboy boots. Apparently I need to bring back pictures. And I was like um, no. But now Superwoman and Boss's Boss's Boss are saying it as well. So I'm toast. Boss's Boss's Boss told me today she had faith in me. I felt special. And Superwoman says I'm doing good. So the day was good up until my brain was fried. After that it was just a lot of dancing. Which I guess was fun too.

Songs tonight since I'm feeling goofy and dancy:

"Mahna Mahna" Cake - Star Wars Version

love how the sound effects match up with the clips. super cool.
this song is also in my head a lot at work, but it's mostly the original muppets version.

aka this.

mostly when i'm shelving in the kid's section.

"Tonight Tonight" Hot Chelle Rae

the second appearance of the summer song. good jam out material. plus i like the video. even though it makes the lead guitarist look more like the lead singer than the actual lead singer.
i enjoy the zach tattoo. that's fantastic.

Alright, gonna finish packing then turn on some Closer and konk out.

This is my last post for a couple of days, hope you guys have a good weekend and if I don't post behind then a Happy 4th of July!!

PS - Just got confirmation on the milk jugs. I can officially stop dancing. Well, at least for the next few hours, once the wedding reception starts who knows...

Summer Songs

I'm done! I'm free! Papers are written and posted, books are read - yes all 12 i literally read them all - Wikis are up and running. And I'm done! Free! Until August! With school anyway, now it's gonna be camp central!

Okay, so summer song - aka the song that plays first after I'm released from school. I can't skip it for the rest of the summer, cheesy but whatever. Skip back a few posts and there's an explanation. Been doing it a couple years now.

2008:
Kat DeLuna - Whine Up

this was the originator back in college. i heard it and the concept stuck.

2009:
Will Dailey - Tomorrow Still Comes

live version aka impromptu singing at a party. nice.

2010:
Avi Buffalo - Remember Last Time

not the official video since they don't have one. they do have videos of them singing it at clubs, for example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iaqnNFBcaws

Aaannnd drum roll - summer song for this year:
2011:
Hot Chelle Rae - Tonight Tonight

and yes, that is chord overstreet in the video. i totally flipped.
gonna be an interesting summer.

Okay, and just as an extra tonight - Nic is here and introduced me to the awesomeness that is Judas by Lady Gaga.
Totally sweet video you gotta check it out.

Imagine the 12 disciples and Jesus in a biker gang. That's what this video is.
Although I have no idea what's going on from 3:45-4:20. No idea.

and because i'm still laughing....
Golf Boys - Oh, Oh, Oh

Join Ben, Hunter, Ricki and Bubba on the golf course. hilarious hick boys rapping. yes, this is actually how i golf. ask nic. we name our clubs, drive crazy in golf carts, get lots of drinks from the drink cart lady, and always have to have a woohoo in our backswing. "that one sucked." "there was no woohoo in your backswing."
is that a jonas brother? it looks like a jonas brother.

out!
