Still on season one.
Need to finish this so I can move on to season two and then return them both.
Had them for like 2 months now.
Gotta love Interlibrary Loans.

It's an amusing series.
Though not inspiring enough to make me want to read the novels.
There's just something about vampire books that I can't get into.
I blame Twilight and Bella's immediate fascination after two pages of Edward.
We had to read the first book for class.
She knew him for like 2 days and was already, "i'll die for him" and all that crap.
It was repulsive.
Vomitrocious one would say.
Well, a friend of mine would anyway.
So today was fun.
Got to work at the home branch with the new supervisor and the new aide.
The one I was hired along with 3 years ago finally quit and has a new job.
Speaking of 3 years, yeah, it's officially been 3 years as of yesterday that I've worked for the library system.
And on the 24th it'll be 3 years at the work branch.
It was nice to go back to the relaxation that is the home branch and its usual patrons.
Except it wasn't relaxing for long as the computers would turn themselves off after about 15 minutes into each session.
That made for a fun morning.
But I was off at 2 so it wasn't that long of a day.
Tomorrow is gonna be a weird one as well, work the morning then camp meeting in the afternoon.
Sending out our application letters, woohoo!
We always have fun, even if it's doing the mundane task of folding letters and stuffing them in envelopes.
But we're goofballs.
And now we're excited goofballs cause application letters going out means camp season is officially upon us.
I've already gotten 2 applications in the mail - you can always tell when the pastors get them cause their kids send theirs back immediately.
We actually mail out individual application forms to everyone who went the previous year and then out to the churches as well to attract more kids.
So that's Saturday, and I'm off on Sunday and Monday so for Mother's Day I told Mom I would clean her house.
Cause that's all she wanted.
Alright, I'm zonked.
Gonna crash.

i do it quite often.
both SoundHound-ing things and looking through my history to find stuff to post.
it's quite handy when you can't remember the name of a song or want to know what year it came out.

feels so good to hit the ground.
It has been brought to my attention that people don't know the "Tonto" dance.
This is wildly depressing to me.

Basically the Fresh Prince and Carlton go broke in Vegas so they have to come up with some money and enter themselves into a dance competition.
And no, I have no idea why someone would put video game characters on the side of their video but it was the best quality so I'm sticking with it.
C'mon people, even the marines know the dance.

Although the song is actually called "Apache" really the only known words to the song are "Tonto, jump on it, jump on it, jump on it." and repeat.
Originally released as instrumental in the '60s in Britain by the Shadows, then the Incredible Bongo Band added some more hiphop-ish elements to it in the '70s and the version you're hearing is actually the 1981 take on it by the Sugarhill Gang who added the lyrics.
It's also been remade by Sir-Mix-Alot, Fatboy Slim, and more recently Beck - but no, he doesn't loser-rap in it.
Yes, I'm a nerd. Look it up.
More website progress today, gotta remember to get it cleared by end of tomorrow. I'd like to have it up and running by next week since the first TAB meeting is on the 4th.
A little harder to build one when you're at the front desk for three hours but it reminded me why I started at the library in the first place, which lately has been interesting because I've had more time off-desk than anything else.
Not that I'm complaining, it's nice to actually have time to work the stuff that I've been assigned and elected for. Speaking of, first volunteer came in today so I got to give him the tour and get him started on random projects. And of course that's when both pencil sharpeners decide to break - weird, and as I thought that was boring anyway I got him started on some computer stuff that he picked up fairly quickly.
What else? Umm, got to jam with Fearless Leader today for like 3 hours which rocked, worked with BossLady and The New Girl - we were shocked and couldn't remember the last time that happened. Though she's stuck in the basement cause she's half cataloger and half public service. Well, more like 30/10, sad day.
My cat is driving me nuts. He's on some sort of biting rampage even though I'm covered with blankets and wearing sleeves. No idea what his problem is but he was like this yesterday too. Missing the farm perhaps, but it's keeping me up at night and makes me frustrated in the morning. I put him the cage and he whines. I close the door to the bedroom and he pounces on it.
Erg.
Yes, erg.
It was either that or arg but I'm not much for pirate talk as of late.
I'm falling behind on that version of Mango Language though I did at one point attempt it.
We have this language database that teaches you language at your own pace so you've got like Spanish, French, Italian, Mandarin and then at the bottom... Pirate. You should look into it, it's free through the library man.
I wanna learn sign language, I think that would be fun.
Alright, I'm off to do some more editing. Final touches and then I'll send it. Huzzah!

yes, old school. well, not really, but it is for me. and really all I can think of is Sweet Home Alabama when I hear it, but it's still a good song. you can actually watch that whole movie on youtube.
Actually I'm pretty sure I brought this next one up back in Favorites Week. Or should have at least as it is one of mine. I know it's been posted at least once cause it's got a tag.

there are two versions to this song, this is the longer and wordier version. the other is just instrumental from 2:15 'til the regular verse which is usually at 3:23 but this one repeats, hence the reason it's longer.
see how i can do math?

i like them both but find this one more satisfying. if that makes sense?
it's a headspace kind of thing.
but give it a shot, it's worth it.
Alright, edit then sleep. Staff meeting tomorrow morning so I gotta be semi-conscious.

You Drive Me Crazy 'til I'm Shattered
This weekend was a bit like madness - awesome one minute and the next total crap. Yesterday I actually got "all-hail"d by a coworker, she fake bowed and everything, it was amusing. Apparently I'm the go-to tech geek when virtual services has the day off. That was one of the highlights. One of the lowlights? Coworker calling in sick and us running the whole main library with a 4 person team. Let's put it this way, there was never a dull moment. Ever. Because there was no downtime. But at least the day flew by. And my supervisor came through unscathed. Barely. Felt bad for him, he was so stressed, but he pulled it off grandly.
So, to go along with the whirlwind of a weekend, I give you Shakin' Stevens!
Am I so weird to know this song? My partner in Delayed...Reaction knew it too but from when he was overseas. So we did it for karaoke a while ago...wow...karaoke, haven't done that in a while. Add that to the hobbies favorites week post. And killing plants. Not that it's my favorite but it's definitely been a hobby lately.
Anyway, here's "You Drive Me Crazy" by Shakin' Stevens.
Diggin' the whole dancing around in jeans thing. It's very George Michael. But I'm pretty sure he came before George Michael. The majority of Shaky's music came late 70's/early 80's. I think George Michael was more late 80's/early 90's.

This is version two, the original version is just piano from 2:14 to 3:23, no vocal or guitar. Both are good but this is the one that came up when I searched therefore this is the one I'm posting. Love it, actually had it as my myspace song. Think it still might be my myspace song. Should probably check/update that sooner or later.
In other news:
-I attempted to watch the pilot of The Tudors but wasn't as enthused about it as I thought I would be. Everyone that I've talked to about it loves it, I just couldn't get into it.
-Thinking about doing another themed week, maybe best 90's music or 80's music or something. Thoughts?
