Happy Christmas Eve Eve.
I'm alive.
I'm alive.
Mostly.
Just took the weekend off and then felt like crap so I'm posting it all now.
Added two posts for yesterday and the day before though because otherwise it would be music overload.
I know that's cheating but it's my blog so get over it.

So, where was I?
Oh right, let's start with the TAB Holiday Party on Saturday.
Fantastic.
Ordered pizza, ate ice cream, drank apple juice - they had eggnog which just grosses me out - and played tons and tons of Apples to Apples. It was awesome.
Though the thing is that they like playing the regular version instead of the junior version so last year we made a rule that if they didn't know who the person was then they got to discard and pick another.
There were so many people this year it was ridiculous and it made me feel super old. Like camp all over again but this time no Noel to save me.
On this year's list was: Bill Murray, Madonna, and then Nicolas Cage came up and one of them was like, "oh isn't he that cute old guy?" first off, ew, and second, is 50 old?
It used to be but now it's not. Maybe that's cause I'm halfway there.
There were many others but I'm blanking on names, I literally went through 5 cards in a row discarding them all because even though I knew who they were they wouldn't which means I would lose every time cause no one would get my references.
But that's okay, they're young and fun and all that.
Anyway, so that was a lot of fun then after I went home to take a nap but ended up going over to help Mom unload all the party stuff at the hotel meanwhile getting a pounding headache.
So basically I helped her unload all her stuff and then the Cool Aunt showed up so I took ibuprofen and laid down to sleep it off in Mom's room.
Didn't work, ended up watching Indiana Jones part four - still sucks, btw they had 20 years to write it and that's what they came up with? aliens? seriously? - and not getting any sleep nor did the headache go away.
But then it was 6 and my boyfriend showed up so I took another dose and headed out to be social.
That dose seemed to work cause 10 minutes later I was all over the place greeting people and forgetting about the headache entirely.
Was awesome, all my siblings with their spouses and kids, plus his family was all there, the cool aunt and her sons who i've dubbed as the "cool cousins". They're not my only cool ones I have, they're just the only ones I see anymore and since the Cool Aunt borned them it seemed fitting.
Anyway, I passed on to the dancing baby on to the cool cousins. Have I told you about that freakin' thing yet? Yes, it's in here somewhere.
AHA! Found it. "Story behind the dancing baby is a bit of a mystery. It originated around 15 years ago and has been making the rounds ever sense. And its not like a nice cute doll. its ugly. and it dances. Well, it's two pieces so when you shake it its upper body flails and it looks like its dancing. and it's still in the package. If you get it you're stuck with it for a year before you wrap it up and give it to someone else."
So last year I got stuck with it and now I'm giving it back. It can adorn their shelves for a year before someone else gets it. I was just proud I didn't lose it. Which for me - meant keeping it somewhere I would always see it, aka above my TV - everyone who saw it went "what the crap?" and then I had to rehash the story for them over and over.
Where was I? Oh right, so my family, his family, cool aunt and cool cousins, one of the favorite aunties plus one of her kids and wife and their kids, plus a bunch of my cool coworkers, and of course the Library Goddess.
Many pictures were taken, including one with boss #1 and boss #2. I let them fight over who fits what title, it's an ongoing battle.
So it was madness, but the good kind of madness that was sort of contained.
Mostly.
Minus the tiny children running all over the place.
I felt bad for the chick on duty at the desk, but to be fair we did bring her lots and lots of food to make up for it.
There was a ton of food there. Mom made chili, mints and my favorite punch, Oldest Sister brought meat and cheese tray plus everything that everyone else forgot, Favorite Sister-In-Law brought chips plus this awesome cheese dip, and then Second Sister brought the vodka slush which won over the crowd.
I raved to my coworkers about it so I made them try it.
Unfortunately my master plan to get the Queen of the Known Universe inebriated failed. But that was just attempt number one, it'll happen.
The question of the night became "you got the degree, now what?"
And honestly the truth is I don't know.
I'm comfortable where I am, but I've been told on numerous occasions that I shouldn't stay there too long or I'll be stuck there forever.
Which to me would be fine. I don't know, we'll see if any positions open up in the near future. If not I'm content. For now.
To be honest I'm waiting for them to make the final decision on the boyfriend's hours before I make any major decisions. If he gets switched to second maybe moving somewhere and working 11-8 would be better. For now 9-6 is good for us so I'm sticking with it.
So that was all Saturday.
Sunday was church, the dinner with Mom, Dad, the boyfriend and Oldest Sister's family. We went to this Greek place for the second Sunday in a row - which is fine by me it's good food and there's no wait, plus they have a breakfast menu, not that I order off of it, but it's there.
After that the boyfriend and I watched Shawshank Redemption, waited in line at Best Buy for obscene amounts of time but I got my headphones, and then we saw American Hustle.
It was good, not my favorite, but alright. Scale of Awesome says 6/10.
I know, I'm harsh.
I love that Jennifer Lawrence got the "and" in the credits over all these seasoned actors. That's just how badass she is, take that!
No it was a good cast and the script was alright, their hairdos were seriously messing with my mind, Jeremy Renner's mostly followed very closely by Christian Bale's. But I guess that was the style.
So that was Saturday and Sunday. Today is Monday, I felt like crap so I spent most of it sleeping on the couch and when I wasn't sleeping on the couch I was sleeping on the bed.
We'll see how much sleep I get tonight.

It seems every episode SNL gets at least one sketch right, this was this Saturday's.
Shakira, Pitbull and Alanis are all dead on, but I loved Snape cause it was so random.

okay i'm a chicago nut but i was like, wait what? ohhh..."all that christmas". well they had the dance down. i enjoyed that in the subtitles it was all foreign and then there would be like 2 words in english in the middle of it all.
apparently they have the most popular video in the world at the moment beating out cyrus and bieber. no it's not this one, it's this one. don't look at me, it's k-pop i have no idea.

westward leading still proceeding
Happy Christmas Eve Eve.
Name that reference.
Hmm, today.
Went to Bubby's Christmas Eve service at church. I'm aware it's not Christmas Eve, well technically now it is as it's officially passed midnight. Though this post will say it's ten minutes before as almost always. First year Squirt got out of it since she is in high school now. But see when she used to be in it we could make her laugh by making faces and all that.
But Bubby is too smart for that. He doesn't even look at us cause he knows it's coming.
I fear it's payback for how his dad used to wave and make broad gestures to me from the back of the church when I had to stand up there and say the lines.
But reading them over and over for years and years really does make them stick in your brain as I recited in my head along with them.
Apparently there was a section that Bubby forgot and totally made up his own thing. Didn't eve notice he's that good on the spot.
And the best piano player there for the pre-worship stuff.
But his mom is the organist so...
Interestingly enough he goes to someone else for lessons.
Anyway, so that was in the morning then we went to lunch at Sam and Louie's. Got a calzone and half of it is still in the fridge.
Though now I'm hungry. Dangit.
After that came packing my car with all the presents. Which I didn't realize how many of them there were until I had to carry them all the way down the stairs and across the frozen parking lot expecting to fall at any moment.
Though I haven't had any major ice falls since college.
People used to go to breakfast just so they could sit by the windows and count how many people fell on the ice in the parking lot.
But they never plowed it cause there were always cars there. They'd pour gravel but that only goes so far.
After that I came home - Carter was actually okay on the drive out though he was very happy to be out of the carrier when we entered the farmhouse. He's very content now.
Speaking of content, we did our stockings today. Got some sweet Star Wars ones. I gave him Yoda cause he's small and fuzzy and I'm Darth Vader. Cause that was the other option and I guess I can be both evil and good at the same time.
He got lots of cat treats.

There's also a collection of shot glasses, signed copies of 2 separate children's books courtesy of two of my favorite teachers - Serck and the Cool Aunt - plus a golden snitch, mizzou tiger, C-3PO's head, etc.
Told you I needed more bookshelves. There is one other unit as this one only holds A-P. And before you ask, yes they are in order. I work in a library, what do you expect. Though I may switch it up. Sort them by year just to be different. In which case I think Crime and Punishment by Dostoyevsky would be first and Frozen Heat would be the newest.

Last year's Day Ten included my favorite new original Christmas Song - Wish List by Neon Trees - but since I posted the original last year and all the covers on youtube aren't so fantastic I'm forced to skip it since I can't post it twice in a row.
These rules suck sometimes.
Moving on we still got a few others on the agenda.

starting off with the one most often stuck in my head. for the boyfriend that would be blue christmas. which he sang over and over this weekend it was highly amusing. especially since it was that one and payphone over and over.
but this is the one i looked forward to posting after seeing it on the voice.
think this is one of the major highlights from season three just because blake brings back his entire team to sing.
they make a heck of a choir. cassadee, jordis, think i'm team blake for life.

I just want you, Oh darling, I just want you.
Happy Christmas Eve-Eve!
Worked until 4, did more supply rounds, filled out my first request to purchase form, woohoo! Then went over my TAB stuff with my YS mentor, she's great so she walks me through all the steps and answers all my stupid questions.
After work I picked up Grams and we met up with the rest of the family at the hotel for our pitch tournament. I partnered up with my favorite sister-in-law and we actually did pretty decent. We dominated the Bash Brothers in the first round, though they went on to win the tournament but we ended at the middle table. I think we won the most games, or maybe the second most.
It's just all about timing. You have to win at the head table during the last round, so you could completely suck the first few rounds then win three in a row and you'll jump from loser's table to middle table to winner of the high table. Lull people into a false sense of security then smack then down like the hand of god. But Teina and I do none of that lull stuff. She bid 7 our first hand and we made 9.
But we rocked it. About time too, the last time we were partners was Thanksgiving for pinochle and we got owned. It was sad.
We were the classiest so we got pretzel M&M's. Bash Brothers were hot so they got hot tamales, red hots and a gift certificate to Chili's. Oldest Sister and Squirt were cold so they got light up snowpeople.
Second year in a row for Oldest Sister. Though last year she was partnered with Dad.
Brother and Bubby won the Most Obnoxious award.
The surprise of the evening was when Second Sister and her husband ended at the winner's table when this was the first time he actually played pitch with us.
Quote of the night:
"Better books than booze" about our homeless population that visits the library.
So we rocked the night with our cranberry margaritas, ate our pizza, little smokies and peanut butter balls, and laughed a lot.
Cool Aunt rocks for setting this all up. Year Two was a success, looking forward to Year Three.

it's their own christmas song! that they actually wrote! who writes new christmas music? ever? people just revamp old stuff, so I was excited about this one.

Mercedes and Santana rock it. and of course Rachel. Rachel's always fantastic. Even though she's really obnoxious and a lot of time I just want to smack her.

if you're a Home Alone nut like me you'll recognize this one from the aftershave scene. I love those movies. Well, the good ones.
The first one rocks it's a total classic,
the second one's crap though I do love Tim Curry,
the third one's surprisingly fantastic Alex D Linz pulled it off,
the fourth is crap and that's all I have to say about that. You probably didn't know there WAS a fourth. Don't watch it. It's awful.
"Welcome Christmas" Glee Cast Version
yes there are two glee selections, but no She & Him, so there! I can't help it if their remakes are fantastic.
the whole Christmas album is pretty great, both of them now that the second one is out.
"How the Grinch Stole Christmas" (the classic version no offense jim carrey) is an essential part of Christmas. I watch the movie and read the book. Though I don't need the actual book present as I can recite it without looking.
That and Doris Day. I listen to a lot of her music as well.
But it still doesn't feel like Christmas without the snow. Just an extended weekend. Is this what it feels like every year for people who live in civilizations without snow? like Florida?

if you're a Home Alone nut like me you'll recognize this one from the aftershave scene. I love those movies. Well, the good ones.
The first one rocks it's a total classic,
the second one's crap though I do love Tim Curry,
the third one's surprisingly fantastic Alex D Linz pulled it off,
the fourth is crap and that's all I have to say about that. You probably didn't know there WAS a fourth. Don't watch it. It's awful.
"Welcome Christmas" Glee Cast Version
yes there are two glee selections, but no She & Him, so there! I can't help it if their remakes are fantastic.
the whole Christmas album is pretty great, both of them now that the second one is out.
"How the Grinch Stole Christmas" (the classic version no offense jim carrey) is an essential part of Christmas. I watch the movie and read the book. Though I don't need the actual book present as I can recite it without looking.
That and Doris Day. I listen to a lot of her music as well.
But it still doesn't feel like Christmas without the snow. Just an extended weekend. Is this what it feels like every year for people who live in civilizations without snow? like Florida?
