I could write a blog. I have thoughts.

"You look like hell." "I look like college."

Finally watched Man of Steel.

Scale of Awesome says 6/10.

I love comic book movies, but I'm not really a big Superman fan. Plus the fight scenes in this one seemed eternal.

I know they need to be epic, but they ended up just dragging on.

Now I'm on to Lost Girl.

SyFy series.

Reminds me of Blood Ties.

Private Eye, quirky goth sidekick, focus investigations on the supernatural...

But no vampires so far.

Oh, and they're both Canadian series.

Hm.

This one's pretty fun, but I think I liked Blood Ties a little better.

However, I'm only like a disc in so that could change.

I'm so excited for this weekend.

I'm off. And I have no homework or projects hanging over my head so I can legitimately sleep in and watch movies without feeling guilty.

Plus there's a hockey game tomorrow night.

Gonna be awesome.

That's all I got. Don't really remember anything about work.

Other than sending a guy to jail.

Oh yeah.

Dude from the incident yesterday came in and I recognized him so we called the cops who picked him up.

Never boring at the library.

Clip of the Day:

Kenzi-isms

Go Method or Go Home.

She reminds me of the awesomeness that is Allison Scagliotti in Warehouse 13.

yep. definitely a resemblance.

We are not the B-Team! Fool, we are the second A-Team!

Saw this today.

Watch it and tell me you're not intrigued.

I dare you.

Serendipity is my stripper name.

Aw Claudia, how I've missed you and your snarky remarks.

No, seriously you should watch the clip. It's a great show, totally underrated though it is gaining speed.

Got a bunch of library friends hooked.

But how can you resist?

Though now every time I see anything by HG Wells I picture Jaime Murray instead of an old dude with a mustache.

Which makes library life interesting.

Not that it's not already interesting.

Take today, the work branch closed early because of a water leak.

Didn't really matter to me though as I wasn't there anyway.

Today was our annual volunteer recognition banquet.

Got a panic text from Superwoman asking me to go over early and cover for her.

Spent the majority of the time setting up tables, putting out chairs, napkins, programs, silverware, and staring longingly at the food - it's catered like cheesecake and chocolate and fruit and all that. Got a whole plateful and ate it whilst listening to speeches.

Lots of good speeches, the mayor - totally shook his hand - library director - aka Boss's Boss's Boss - and then our library board director.

Who I've talked to once.

Which was today.

Superwoman played emcee.

Joke of the day being her remembering what our volunteer tokens were called.

Sweat-free double-walled tumblers.

Looks like this complete with straw.

And she's allowed to cause she and I picked them out.

They are awesome.

I use my UNO one from the Cool Aunt all the time.

After the recognition I attempted to finish the homework I couldn't last night - see yesterday's post - cause their site was down.

Turns out it's still down.

And I wasn't the only one with issues, Maegan also commented on my post, along with one more and then I got an e-mail from a 4th asking if I'd heard anything.

Which I didn't.

So I just submitted everything with a note at the bottom and screenshot of the website when it was down.

Got an e-mail back from the prof saying she couldn't access it either so just to send it in and she would consult with the other prof.

Hoping we don't get docked for something that's not our fault.

Though the irony is that the question is something like go to Complete Planet and search for something you know a lot about. Are there databases listed that you've never seen before? Is Complete Planet worth checking again in the future.

Um, the answer to that right now, is no.

This assignment was much easier than the last one with all the census crap - yep, remember that one and the professor that hates me?

Though I can't decide if she still hates me or not.

She seems to be pleased with my work as of late.

So that's exciting I guess.

Aside from homework I've started watching Blood Ties.

He has some great moisturizer.

They're Canadian.

It's.

Weird.

But oddly entertaining.

I got the first two seasons from ILL.

2 discs in, we'll see where it goes.

Alright, on to the music and then I'm out.

Song of the night:

Miss You - Rolling Stones

Meeting tomorrow morning for class then a whole day off.

With no homework to work on.

Stoked.

Probably nap and watch more Blood Ties.

Or one of the other movies I have checked out at the moment.

The stack is growing.

And they all look good, but the problem is that the boyfriend and I watch a lot of movies and I think he would want to see some of them. So I'm waiting 'til he gets back.

Which is Monday.

Yay!

legitimate pre-midnight post. holy crap tag in use.

"I'm a barcode!"

How do farmers tell the difference between seedless watermelons and ones with seed?

Are they grown differently?

Is that some sort of chemical thing?

Sorry.

Watermelon for supper.

Yeah, that's healthy I know, but I just got home so get over it.

Currently it's 11:18 PM and I'm eating watermelon and an icecream bar. Cause both of those things are awesome and faster than cooking anything else.

Well, not really, I had to actually cut up the watermelon so I guess that took some time.

Anyway, went to Bubby's baseball game tonight. They won but it was close. Down for most of the game until Bubby tied it up. His base-running was hysterical, he made it to third and then like was told to go home on a passed ball but then they got it so he had to go back to third but then there was like an overthrow or something so then he went but then he had to go back cause they got it faster than we thought they would.

It was a mess. But he was safe. And then the next dude hit it so he scored and tied the game.

I was pretty proud, the other team's pitcher was super fast. Made me look twice anyway.

And then they brought in a slower pitcher and then the time ran out so we won.

More games next week, even get to play against the #1 team. We beat the majority of the teams by 10 points so I'm a bit scared to see these guys play.

What else from today...was actually pretty productive. Got started on a new booklist though I should check with him on the last one. Anyway, this one is on classics with a twist so some parody stuff similar to "Pride Prejudice and Zombies" and all that. If you have any good ones throw them my way.

There's pretty much a zombie/vampire spin on all the classics which I'm a little questioning of. Yes, classics are awesome and they're classics for a reason, do we really need to throw in the undead to screw everything over?

Though I was a fan of PP&Z and am proud to own it.

I found one on Jane Eyre, I'm intrigued by that one purely because of his ex-wife. Well, wife, you know the crazy one that walked on her hands and knees and made all those weird noises and stuff? Maybe she was eaten by the undead and that's what made her so bizarre.

Maybe it tells her side of the story.

Maybe I could write her side of the story.

and go crazy right along with her, sounds fun but when would I do that?

Which reminds me that I have more return letters to fill out and send before morning, and oh crap it's 11:30 already and I'm on that early to bed kick so I should move on and post so I can sleep.

Carter is trying to steal my watermelon.

Pretty sure he would not like the taste of it but he's obnoxious like that.

What else?

I'm freaked for tomorrow.

I mean, I'm sure it will be fine and easy and all that, I mean all I have to do is go down to C/C and pick up food to bring back for people at work.

That's easy enough right? Just gotta you know find the building and then parking and then the chick I have to give all the stuff to but I think she's gonna be at the Information Desk, so I'll give them the money and the extra tickets and pick up the food and take it back, but I gotta figure out how many meals I'm getting and who gets them and blah!!

Food Bank fundraiser it's a picnic thing but there's a carry-out option which some of my coworkers opted-in to after I talked them into it. But it's good food and it's cheap and it's for a good cause, etc.

And it's kind of my job to promote that kind of stuff.

For the next like....well 8 days 'til the drive ends, but we don't pick up the barrels 'til the 23rd. Which is a Monday. So like two more weeks almost.

Alright, that's all I got.

Big day tomorrow.

And it's a Friday so I have Saturday off which is when I'm getting my hair chopped and dyed.

Not like chopped chopped, just like 5-6 inches. Maybe more.

It's super long at the moment.

And desperately needs to get some red in it so that kids can actually recognize me at camp.

Speaking of camp, return letters then bed.

But first! Cause I said I'd post it when I found it.

Season Three:

it's Dr. Calder....Dr. CALDER!

"This way, no dawdling." *trips* bleep!

"it's gonna be awesome, awesome, it's not 2 in the morning, hey!"

Quote of the day:
Magician: "Grimm's Fairy Tales, terrorizing children for over 200 years."

So we had a magician come in today for a summer reading program. He was pretty good, very impressive. Most of the stuff you can kind of guess as an adult, but there were moments where I was like, wait, where the hell did that quarter come from he threw that in the cup!

I should throw this out fairly early in the post, it's currently 10:30PM. I'm on a crusade to start going to bed earlier as staying up past 1AM makes my mornings miserable.

The majority of the posts on this blog are timed at 11:50PM so they can be considered day of. I actually challenge you to find one within the past month that wasn't listed as 11:50something. So as part of this new rule no more back-timing, this girl needs to sleep. She'll already lose enough at camp as the freakin' night patrol I gotta enjoy it while I get it.

Not that I'm going to stop staying up all the time, it can't exactly be helped when your boyfriend works the night shift and sleeps during the day. But not as often as I have been.

What else did I do today that was good? Oh bought food for the Food Drive sculpture. They have a pretty freakin' awesome idea that I can't post cause it's still a bit of a secret but you should stop by later in the week to check it out. Bought a bunch of green beans cause they needed green cans. Grateful I didn't have to carry them up to the apartment, staying in the car until tomorrow when I'll drop them off.

It's amusing because the barrel in the staff room is practically full but there's nothing in the public one.

That will change once the sculpture is built. The point is to draw attention to the drive so you can get donations.

Though I'm guessing most branches consider it a burden rather than fun. I'm hoping they get into it, I mean the winner gets $50 worth of prizes from the Boss's Boss's Boss. For serious man.

Good other stuff, oh bought a squirt bottle. For the cat. No more biting, I'm tired of waking up to it. My arms are covered in scratches it's ridiculous.

Ummm....what else? Oh, sent the freakin' songbook that could have took like 2 days but ended up taking like 10 months, woops. But that's what you get for working 40 hours, directing a camp, and getting your master's all at the same time.

It's okay, staying busy is keeping me distracted from the madness that is me. If it's too quiet I get all into my own head and crap - hence the headphones - so having a task is good. Keeps me motivated and happy and all that.

That's not something you hear from many people.

Work makes me happy.

But it does, I like the people and the place, and I can actually see that I'm making a difference.

Though every once in a while I do need a break. Which is why tonight was nice to have no major obligations. Got some groceries and Warehouse 13 season three!! which I've been counting down for but not on here cause you guys already think I'm nerdy enough - did some laundry, ate the rest of those leftovers, did some more laundry, and now just about to start Warehouse 13.

But just like one episode.

Or I won't sleep.

And that would break this whole early to bed thing.

Yeah, we'll see how long that lasts, the show is like freakin' potato chips. There's no stopping until the fat lady sings...cause the bag's empty.

Alright, episode one of season three, then I'm out.

Here's a clip for you because I find it humorous. Just watched the ones from season three and can't stop watching the Jaime Murray stuff over and over. Her accent just cracks me up. And Allison Scagliotti makes me laugh all the time.

As season three hasn't been uploaded yet you're stuck with my other favorite,

 Season Two:

i love 1:15, not just one bleep but four.

and 0:43 was same thing Laura did on WMC set. just throwing that out there.

and she's posted and out of here by 11:05!

which is good cause her second summer reading program for teens is tomorrow and she's freakin' out!

Will I cry? Will I smile? As you run down the aisle?

Today was good.

They fixed YA.

aka the Young Adult area.

Made it less like a waiting room, expanded it, yet closed it off to the creepers waiting to get into the computer lab...pretty much everything that I asked for so I'm happy.

Gonna take the TAB kids for a detour after the meeting, see what they think. And if they have interest in making posters to deck out the new area.

What else?

I finally caught up with supplies, well the requests at least. They're submitted and everything will get ordered by the end of the week...

Went grocery shopping, put air in my tires, did laundry and dishes...

Ummm...oh, switched out the "teen scenes in green" display for one on National Humor Month.

Which is apparently April.

Had no idea 'til I cruised the Chase book in search of display ideas.

Also didn't realize there are like 5 library-related holidays in the month of April.

There's like National Library Week and then Library Worker day and like School Library Day and Drop Everything and Read Day and then there's another but I'm blanking. I'll check tomorrow.

I love that book.

Chase's holiday calendar - that's how I found out about Spunky Old Broad's month. And that display rocked man.

It's just filled with the most random holidays ever. And they're all documented!

Like April 15th is "Well That Sucks" day.

Yes, I'm completely serious.

Because it's tax day but it's also the anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic.

So everything sucks about that day.

Hence the holiday's title.

There's also a day in April - which again I'm blanking the exact date though I'm sure I could google it - that is Louie Louie Day. Like the song. Apparently it's been covered more than any other rock song in history and there was some mention of it almost becoming the state song for Washington.

Here are some other random tidbits I learned throughout the day:

-If you went out into space you would explode before you suffocated because there's no air pressure.

-Isaac Asimov is the only author to have a book in every Dewey Decimal category.

-In Alabama it is illegal to stab yourself to gain someone's pity.

-The average American will eat 35,000 cookies in a lifetime.
(though probably more in the case of Pete Lattimer)

-All polar bears are left-handed.

-Walt Disney was afraid of mice.

-The Guinness Book of Records holds the record for being the book most often stolen from Public Libraries.
(though in lincoln that honor would go to either the twilight series or Guide to the Ghosts of Lincoln)

-All 50 states are listed across the top of the Lincoln Memorial on the back of the $5 bill.

-In Florida it is illegal to fish while driving across a bridge.
(um, duh?)

-The first person to go over Niagara falls was Annie Edson-Taylor. She made the trip in a wooden barrel and survived.

-Wine will spoil if exposed to light, that's why the bottles are tinted.

again, these may be complete crap but i found them entertaining.

and yes that was a warehouse reference with lattimer, get over it. i'm still in shock and denial and will remain that way until the season opens and everything is fixed!!

Quote of the Day:
"I love cheese!!"
Fearless Leader's reason for not transitioning from vegetarian to vegan. But she yelled it so it was hilarious.

Reminded me of my I like cheese but I don't like cheese speech. Go here: My Life in Closed Captions: New Shoes, the Cheese Speech, Warped Tour and MXPX...

Song of the night:

"It's All Been Done" Barenaked Ladies

i was thinking about making it Barenaked Ladies Appreciation Week but then realized that if someone didn't know that was the name of a band they may take it horribly horribly wrong.

And I'm out for the night. 9 hours of work tomorrow plus some editing means I'll be completely zonked so I should sleep while I can.

"You know if you move that thing fast enough, you can almost write your name?"

I painted myself silly today. It's been a while. I think the last time I went was with the Cool Aunt as well. She joined Oldest Sister and myself there today. But it was different because this time there were no grapes. And there are always grapes. But she painted no grapes, instead she went for a cupcake and an ornament for grams, Oldest Sister did some picture frames and I painted a gnome and some christmas ornaments. Yes, a gnome. I was stoked. Now I need to go paint another, then I can be rolling with my gnomies....

I just have one question for you. Gnome. Why is the g silent? Really? Is it accomplishing anything that it needs to be there? and just sit there? Silently? Like the K in Knights looks cool - especially when you burn a giant one for homecoming - but the G in Gnome just makes the word look awkward. Or is that just me? But I guess that's sort of fitting since gnomes are kind of awkward. In a way they just sit there silently. Like the g. Okay, now I get it. Or I still don't but I'm rationalizing it out in a way so that I do.

Moving on.

After the joy that is painting and the comradery that goes with it I went over to Oldest Sister's for supper and we watched The Mummy Returns.

I can hear my mother groaning already. "Again?" "Really?" Yes again. Always again. What's wrong with again? I've seen that and the first Mummy more times than you probably brush your teeth in a year! Okay, I hope not. But 300+ is a lot of times to watch something. Especially when watching the second movie with commercial breaks makes you want to do nothing but pull out the first one on DVD and watch them both properly. Skipping of course the third one, which I won't even acknowledge - that's properly, and pulling out all my ancient Egypt books and resources and getting lost in them again.

Am I the only one who gets completely enamored with all things Egypt? The history and the religion and the traditions is completely fascinating.

And now I've figured it out.

Whoa.

Okay, sorry, roadblock. Mr. Boss Man just got back from his cruise and his talking about all things vacation reminded me that I haven't left the central US area since I was like 13. When we went to California. or maybe it was Florida. It's been so long I don't even remember where we went first. Or how old I was. It couldn't have been 13 cause that was high school. So 12. or 11. Good god, I need a vacation.

I did go to Chicago twice, once for a senior trip and another time to visit a friend. Then we flew to Arizona for a basketball tournament, but that's not traveling really. I want to go somewhere far far away. That requires me to actually go out and get a passport. Queen of Awesome and I were talking about a roadtrip to Canada yesterday while eating sushi. That would be freaking sweet!

And our cousin group - who went to florida, california, clear lake, yellowstone (and okay warehouse 13 has totally given that place a whole new meaning) - has talked for a while now about another cousin roadtrip. We were thinking Vegas. And I'm totally in for that. totally totally in.

But I think I need to go somewhere farther. Like Egypt. That would be awesome. But complicated. But worth it. But who would I go with? Cause that's not exactly something you would want to do alone.

And I kind of want to go to London some day as well. Maybe Australia, meet up with Kat.

See, I have all these ideas and all these people want to go places as well and we talk and talk and talk about them but they never happen.

So, today, I say this - and put it in writing - Some time within the next 5 years (gotta give me time to graduate and put my life in order) I am going overseas. Somewhere. For an extended vacation to see the sights, and jam out with the locals.

Sounds fun. Okay, it's in writing. Next step, pick the place and the people to go with.

Now...where was I? Oh right, so The Mummy. Yes, they are both in my top 5, right after RENT, and they still remain there after 10 years of me watching other movies. Which is impressive because I watch a lot of movies.

And, because I've seen them 300+ I know all the lines. It's similar to singing along to the radio when your favorite song comes on except mine comes with visual aids and is about 2 hours longer.

"Tuthmosis? What are you doing here? T-t-t-t-t, I'm going to put you where you belong." leans and ladder goes straight up, leans again and turns the library stacks into dominos. "Woops."

I like Evy, she's my favorite. The rebellious librarian who gets in a bit over her head with her sense of adventure. Plus you add in Jonathan, her idiot brother who really only cares about money, but he's hysterical. Then O'Connell, the love interest, who is the only American in the bunch.

PS - on the DVD Brendan Fraser does the audio commentary for the first movie and it's fantastically funny. I highly recommend it.

Plus the actors themselves are just goofy.

Rachel Weisz is one of my favorites of all time. And now she's married to Daniel Craig. Which is interesting. And has a new horror movie coming out. Which Sketch won't let me go see. Mean.

Alright, I'm gonna konk out before I overload you with quotes. I'm letting you off easy, trust me.

"Look, I may not be an explorer, or an adventurer, or a treasure-seeker, or a gunfighter, Mr. O'Connell. But I am proud of what I am."
"And what is that?"
"I...am a librarian!"

"That's not coffee, that's diabetes on ice." 10/12/07

Yes '07. Good god, I feel old cause that was like forever ago and yet not. Is that what happens when you get old? Time just flies and you don't even realize it? Like today I'm 23 but next time I check I'll be 80? That's just not cool.

Thomas: "Ohhh, defensive sarcasm, it went well."

You know what is cool? That even though the show was cancelled in 2008 the fandom out there is still alive and kicking. And no it's not just me. There's a lot of Patterstonians out there. Sorry, Bones reference.

Thomas: "Please don't give me the laser vision, it makes me really nervous."

Let's start at the beginning.

Claire: "But why something yourself when you can hand it over to a work-shy ill-mannered counterpart?"
Thomas: "Are we supposed to answer her?"
Boxer: "No, that's not necessary."

See, there was this show called Women's Murder Club that was based off the books by James Patterson. It was on ABC Tuesday nights originally, then they moved it to Fridays. It was short-lived because of the writer's strike and bad timing. It only lasted from October 12th of '07 to May 13th of 2008. Not that that's really surprising for a strong female cast show on ABC. Name one that's lasted longer than a year recently, please. Anyone? Anyone? I'm shocked Desperate Housewives is still on. I think that's their one triumph. And that's just cause they're slutty.

Boxer: "Tell me you didn't drive this here."
Thomas: "Please, I drove Maggie, my little red car."
Boxer: "Then you sweet talked Officer Cho into letting you past the tape. Wait, your car has a name?"
Thomas: "Doesn't yours?"

It starred Angie Harmon as the tough chick cop Lindsay Boxer. Yes, she played a cop before Rizzoli and Isles. Where do you think they got that idea from?
Laura Harris as Jill Bernhardt the witty and sarcastic ADA,
Paula Newsome as Claire Washburn the sage and wise Medical Examiner
and Aubrey Dollar as Cindy Thomas the crime reporter who won't stop or shutup.
Then you throw in Tyrees Allen as Jacobi - Boxer's partner on the force - Rob Estes as Lt. Tom Hogan Lindsay's ex-husband and now boss, plus his new fiance and kindergarten teacher Heather played by the awesomeness that is Ever Carradine.

Thomas: "Is that pizza some form of apology?"
Boxer: "Do you want the breadsticks or not?"

The storylines of WMC were pretty much typical of crime shows, except that there was a lot more backstory of the characters - so it was more like NCIS than Law and Order. You felt like you actually got to know them and it wasn't just about the crime and catching the killer. Although Chris Meloni does remind me a little of Rob Estes now that I think about it. And Benson is much like Boxer. Okay, moving on.

Boxer: "You know what I hate about Heather? Every time I see her, or talk to her, she says something that makes me want to respect her a little bit more!"

Everything about WMC was of awesomeness. Except, of course, it's cancellation. And switch in storyline, they fired the head writers halfway through and gave us 3 crap episodes at the end that completely switched the Kiss-me-not storyline. They were going with fairytales, then the new writers - I don't know if they didn't like it or weren't allowed to use it - then switched to this psycho's sister being dead and her keepsakes and...yeah it's a long story.

Thomas: "I'll chat up the locals, see if there's anything more interesting for sale here at the house of lamps lamps and more lamps."
see i hear that line in my head every time I pass that lights shop over on 40th and O.

Anyway, today every year and on the 13th of May every year I watch the pilot in all of its awesomeness. Which would be a whole lot better if they'd just release the freaking series on DVD. Which of course they won't. I'm guessing that has something to the do with the original creators not wanting it. But that's just a theory.

Washburn: Nice vacation, good last meal, couple drinks on the plane, and you doze off during in-flight movie. Not a bad way to go.
Thomas: I hope I go in my sleep.
Bernhardt: I hope I go out on top of Clive Owen. You die your way, I'll die mine.
Boxer: I don't want to die, period. Why are we even talking about this?

So, since the show has ended and clearly has no hope of coming back the actors have all moved on.
Angie Harmon has Rizzoli and Isles on TNT.
Laura Harris did Defying Gravity, some sort of TV movie, and guest starred on Warehouse 13 (she had mata hari's stockings). Has anyone seen Dead Like Me? It's fantastic! I got seasons one and two.
Paula Newsome plays Vance's wife on NCIS, she guest starred on Bones, Criminal Minds, Grey's Anatomy, Pretty Little Liars, Parenthood and Suits. yes, she's a perpetual guest star, she's awesome like that.
Aubrey Dollar guest starred on Cupid, Ugly Betty and now The Good Wife.

Boxer: "Why does my relationship status a problem that every feels they need to solve? I'm not ready!"
HA! i should adapt that as my life's new motto. it'll go along great right next to "Jam Hands only bring pain" and "if you don't come in with it you leave with some degree of insanity."

Aannd, even though it's been years and many different series later I still call them Lindsay and Thomas and all that. It took me like 2 minutes to remember Boxer's real name is Angie Harmon so I could type the above paragraph.
I claim that the WM that precedes my name in my email address stands for Work Mail but it totally doesn't. I had to stop for my own cup of "diabetes on ice" on my way to work today. Will probably do it again tomorrow morning.
There are many other quirks that I won't share with you, what I will share with you however is that awesomeness that is Sketch's artwork.

she gave it to me as a present, i love it. in the middle resides the tattoo that i had on my arm for like weeks. the joy of sharpies. look to the right. ---->

i'm all about posters.

especially the obscure ones. skip to left passed the hunger games and you'll find this one:

tell me what this is a design for and i'll give you a dollar. i'll give you a hint, it has nothing to do with WMC. sort of.

Alright, I should probably stop with the rambling. Off to bed. Long day tomorrow.

Claire: If you're strong and push through the pain and the fear, you often find that happiness is waiting for you on the other side.
Jill: And if you're not strong enough?
Claire: Then that is what your friends are for. To give you a gentle push or a kick in the ass...

I tried my best not to double up on what I've always used here on the WMC Day May 13th post: My Life in Closed Captions: I'm a pancake. I'm a pancake.
But a girl can only do so much.

Boxer: "Uhh, I need to call you back. I'm not done yelling."

OUT!

"She's wearing a Warehouse 13 t-shirt."

HECK YEAH I WAS!

Awesome patrons came in today and fawned over my Rheticus Compass t-shirt. We talked Warehouse. It was fantastic.
Mom: "Who's your favorite character?"
Me: "HG Wells"
Daughter: "She's adorable!"
Mom: *turns gives weird look* "SHE'S EVIL!"
Daughter: "So?!"
they were stoked about the spinoff. then...
Me: "Who's your favorite?"
Mom: "Claudia....you remind me a bit of her. Have the hair."
Daughter: "Talks like her too."
totally made my day. Claudia Donovan rocks man. I wish I was as cool as Claudia Donovan. with her tech-geek-speak and all that. Which occasionally I do with jargon or whatever. but totally made my day.

See, but whenever I wear those kind of shirts at the other library it's just skeezy guys that stare at me and want to strike up a conversation about the design emblazoned across my chest. Which I don't really want to talk to them about. So I've stopped wearing them there. But here I'm all over it. That's part of why I like being an aide. Works well with my wardrobe. Speaking of:

Oldest Sister came in today. I'm checking in delivery and I hear, "I like the highlights." She always sneaks up on me, makes me jump. Then she goes all mom on me fixing my jeans and telling me I need to wear makeup. But WHY?! I already get skeezy guys that stare at me. I don't need any more of them!

After all the joys of shelving - got it all done with 2 minutes to spare - headed over to the book sale and bought 17 books for 15 bucks total. Love book sales. Especially those linked to our library. They rock. And the people rock. This thing took up the whole freaking building! Tables covered in boxes full of books. And if you go Saturday you can get a box of books for 3 bucks. Just have to fill it. The thing about the sale though is that the aide in me wants to go around and put things in order. I mean, they have them divided by category but not by author or DD#. Drives me nuts. Ran into a frequent patron and he had the same urges, and was apparently acting on them, haha. I figured it was my afternoon off so I'd leave it alone. Got some good Patterson stuff, Robert Fulghum, old One Book's, some comedy stuff, I'm diggin it. Think I will take Squirt on Saturday if she has interest.

Tomorrow will actually be a regular day. Schedule-wise. Which sounds weird because lately I'm all about the irregular days. They're actually fun, as long as you know where you're going and when to be there. I just do what I told. Which isn't a problem cause I love my job. Jobs.

Song of the night: Throwback Thursday

Survey says....

"Your Mama Don't Dance" Loggins and Messina

hahahaha, OMG. so, I did a search on here to see if I had posted this song already - cause it's awesome - and typed in "your mama don't dance" and three results popped up. one of them was a dream log that I had posted earlier this year and I was reading through some of them, just duuuude. My Life in Closed Captions: "Those are gonna be some weirdass dreams..."
Who the hell is Agent Larkin?
Although my favorite is "Are we going to get in trouble?" "Just tell them you were the one waving the flag." thanks Superwoman. but why was I waving a flag again?

Short version - I write what I remember of my dreams in the note section of my phone. I used to do it on paper but it got all over the place. This way they're all together. Kind of makes me want to go through the entries since then. Hmmm... Will see about posting those tomorrow. If I post. Smo is coming into town so we will have a jam session. Perhaps I will post before she arrives. Will look them over on my lunch break, see if any of them are worth it.

PS - Did anyone watch Criminal Minds this week? Rossi's cooking lesson was fantastic. I died of laughter. And Kirsten totally loses it at one point. Love it. This season of Criminal Minds fixes all problems, great and small.

YEAH TOAST!

Today was a total OMG Day. Seriously. It was like exclamation point after exclamation point. All day. My heart has finally slowed down back to normal where I can sleep, but duuuude. I was on edge.

FIRST! only had 2 hours to shelve this morning so I couldn't get all the way done, complete madhouse, barely got any of the delivery checked in before I had to rush across town, grab lunch, eat that, and drop something on Superwoman's desk when I ran into number
TWO! Oh my god. There was a freaking bird on her chair! Like a crow! On the back of the chair! And I almost screamed out loud! I literally froze and Girlscout and InfoMan just sat that and laughed at me. Of course it wasn't a real bird, but when you walk into an office that you walk into on a regular basis you're not expecting to see a freaking giant bird attached to a chair meant to scare the crap out of anyone who enters the room when there's not usually a freaking giant bird attached to a chair meant to scare the crap out of anyone who enters the room! MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! Freaking bird scared the crap out of me! I froze! Like literally froze! And edged my way into the room. Slowly. Dropped the calendar on her chair, and inched out of the room. Afraid it was going to come alive and eat me! Oh my god! Seriously! And they just laughed! And I freaked! I'm still freaked! that that bird's gonna like end up in my locker or something! I will scream bloody murder! And buy a freaking padlock!
just reminds me of old family pranks, tying pulling fireworks to car gear shifts and listening to people scream when they pop.
THREE! Didn't see Wordie today, which is like a record cause I see him every day I'm there! totally weirded me out. I did, however, get to see AND WORK WITH Slim Shady, which never happens. So there were shouts of joy.
FOUR! Came home to watch CRIMINAL MIND's SEASON PREMIERE! and it was FANTASTIC! on the edge of your seat awesomeness! And I'm stoked to talk about it tomorrow with the Queen of the Known Universe. cause she was stoked too. Duuuuude. I didn't watch a single episode from last season. Even though I now own it. And will probably not watch them. Even though I own it. And know pretty much everything that happened. Because it was the year they killed the cast to launch a spinoff that epically failed. Why would they launch that if they knew it was going to epically fail? I'm not a TV genius and I knew that it would epically fail! The original cast is just that good. and now they're all back so it's cool. But duuuuude. Okay, I can't give away spoilers. Although, I will say...I wasn't wrong. Read if you dare. My Life in Closed Captions: *Spoiler Alert*

It's amusing, cause I used that yesterday too. But I missed NCIS so I'll have to watch that one online. and Glee's. And Bones doesn't come back until November. and The Closer is gone until like January. But I also am a few episodes behind on that one. Which is unusual as that is one of my favorites. Well, these are all my favorites...that are still running. Plus Greys. Plus Chuck. Plus Big Bang Theory. AND WAREHOUSE! which I have another spoiler but I won't say it. Not that it matters cause you don't watch it anyway. But still...eh, nevermind. I'm just stoked for the finale. Cause someone comes back. Temporarily. And someone leaves. Thankfully. Never really liked them. Kinda wanted to kick them. But it's hard to replace awesomeness. Especially when they're getting their own spinoff. Which will be pure awesomeness and not an epic failure like Suspect Behavior. What kind of spinoff show name is that anyway? Seriously? Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior. just no. I'm sorry. Rambling. And now my heart rate is back up.

I think I'm gonna write. And like write some more. But not on here. I'll spare you. But there's a story idea floating around in my head and I might actually have the energy and excitement to put some of it onto virtual paper. We'll see how long that lasts. It's usually gone as soon as I hit "publish post".

AND NOW brought to you by....eh, whatever.
Okay, so the song of the night is like...I was like, okay, what's a song with an exclamation point in the title. Where people are like yelling. And this just came to mind. And I still love it after all this time...
And you will love it too...if you give it a chance. Which you so totally should. Cause it's only like less than 5 minutes of your time. And it's funny. And if you don't like it, you're free to yell at me later. Deal. Just listen.

"Yeah Toast!" Heywood Banks

i take it they're in texas....that verse isn't usually in it. but niiice addition.

hmmm....version two. Animated.

i would have posted this version but it's too distracting. i can't stop laughing. seriously. make it stop. i can't make it stop.

...and now all I can think of is YEAH BEARDS! oh grafton and your silly competition. a beard growing contest. seriously. at the q125. it was fantastic.

Tomorrow think I'm off around 5. Will have to catch up on some of those series.
On my list to watch at some point this week: season premieres of The New Girl, Two Broke Girls, NCIS, past couple episodes of The Closer....anything I'm missing?

PS - Favorite part of the day. I love being an Aide. It leads to hypothetical situations with people who shall remain nameless. Like, hypothetically, if, today I showed up and worked with two of my supervisors who shall remain nameless and one of them said, hypothetically, take this money and go buy me, other supervisor and yourself a soda from across the street, hypothetically, I would have grabbed it and ran!...to get soda...from across the street. Hypothetically. Then, when I hypothetically asked if I should put that in my job description for a hypothetical application that may or may not have been submitted, they replied um, no. Which is why this remains hypothetical. Totally hypothetical. Did NOT happen. Hypothetically.

And no one's getting fat except mama cass.

Which is more pathetic? 1. Realizing that you've already seen all the episodes of Swamp People that Dad has DVR'd throughout the week or 2. Watching them again anyway when he's not even around to make you watch them?
It's fantastic.

So, I had this hat. It was awesome. Titans hat - dark blue with titans in light blue and the red logo around it. Simple and comfortable and awesome and I wore it almost everyday for years before it mysteriously disappeared - conspiracy theory says mom was tired of it and hid it, i'm still convinvced it's somewhere in the house - but it was my hat. I loved it. My brother gave it to me for Christmas the same year he gave me my long sleeved Yankees shirt - which he said brought him physical pain, he's not a fan - and I seriously did wear it almost every day. Anyway, so I've been trying to not replace the hat but find one like it for years, doesn't necessarily have to be a Titans one but it has to be similar and I've had all kinds of hats. They're all great in some way, but they're not the same. The irony is, that without even trying I found one just like it. Same style and fit - yes I'm a nerd. And yeah, it was a fluke. I bought the shirt/hat combo for the shirt, put on the hat and went whooooaaa.... Yes, I'm a nerd. It's even dark blue, huzzah! This time it's a baseball one but I like it, and I'm diggin' it, and I'm gonna wear it. And this time Mom can't hide it when she gets sick of it, yay!

Okay, so I totally need a lowjack on all my stuff. I lose everything - no I didn't lose the hat - It drives me nuts. This weekend it was my license, my debit card and my ring - all were found, but in the meantime I was going bananas. Someone needs to invent like a lowjack for all things valuable that when you press a button the object will either show itself or if it's somewhere else it will be transported through space to where you are. That would be awesome.

Today was great, got to sleep in then met up and finished our post-camp stuff. I'm done for 6 months! Totally stoked! Now I can get back to the whole work and school all the time thing. Huzzah! But got to see the gang again - well most of them - and this time school was in session so we saw them out at recess. They were playing capture the flag and one of my favorites comes up and says "every time I tag one of the little ones they act like I killed them" cause he's an 8th grader and they're not. You know, small children and all that. It was amusing. Even more amusing was G-Wigger's team's come from behind victory all because of a well-timed bathroom break.

"Creeque Alley"

another song played often at camp

There are rare moments when my father - the music genius for anything from the 1940's to the early 80's - talks to me about music and I actually remember something about it the next day - this one is one of them. (Not that it's not interesting, it just happens that often and they all kind of look alike). This group has totally intrigued me with the drama and the sound and the story - if you get a chance you should look up some of their history, it's a great story. This kind of tells the basics, if you know enough of the references to be able to interpret it.

Tomorrow's split shift, think I'm gonna turn on Warehouse and crash.

"She goes for the money, boo-goosh! Sues him for it!"
"What kind of women do you date?"

Oh, the poor tarp people. Ninjutsu!

Today's Highlights include:
-Worked 9-5, flew by

-Got to help train The New Guy. Which is his nickname for now. I'm stoked cause I'm no longer the newest hire at the desk. He's actually pretty wicked awesome. I love it cause we're able to have a completely adult conversation about libraries, serving the public, demographics, collection management, system changes, just everything professional and then we jump to "What would you do if you had 100 million dollars?" I said I wanted a big big screen TV, an extensive DVD collection and a comfortable chair. That was apparently too small. Little Shelver Boy says he'd level one of the buildings nearby and turn it into his own personal library. New Guy says he'd donate 10 million to the library - can't hurt with your taxes - to refurbish ours, then build a new one that's a big circle with glass windows. I said he had to throw in some greenery. And a nice parking lot. Or a parking garage.

-Heard back from the Library Goddess and Superwoman so plans will be implemented, we'll see what happens. Sophie's Choice here I come.

-Getting a gang together to go see The Help, I'm all for a good distraction.

-Went to my niece's soccer game, she rocked it scoring the ONLY GOAL with her left foot. Total pro.

-Decided to hit up a Saltdogs game on sort of a spur of the moment kind of thing and it was awesome! We had our usuals - my hotdogs and margarita, Oldest Sister had her nachos, dip-n-dots and Chelada, M had cheesefries and a pop then some dip-n-dots. We did miss out on the funnelcakes though. Saltdogs were dominating and every run scored meant music which meant dancing - cause you can't disrespect the dance - and Oldest Sister taping us do the Rush Hour dance, you know the one.

1:41-1:51 best part of the movie
Then the Pheasants - yes the Pheasants - tied us at 7 in the 4th and then it was like
Little sprinkle of rain.
...
More little sprinkles of rain.
...
Torrential downpour.
Seriously.
So we ran for cover, standing behind this tarp banner thing that blocked most of the wind and rain but had holes in it so the back of my legs were just soaked.
Wind was a tree breaker - as they'd say on Swamp People...(when the alligators would break the tree branch off in order to escape.) Cause there were branches all over the highway on the way home.
Total madhouse. I ran into the apartment, saving my ipod, phone, notebooks and all that. The best part was that the guys behind us were looking at the radar and said, "Oh yeah, it's gonna miss us." Then they left. Cheaters.
But the poor tarp people. Oh man. It took them like 20 minutes to get the thing unrolled.

Songs of the night: aka the ones I jammed out to on the rainy drive back home

"Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin'" Journey live in '79

pretty sure there's lipsyncing involved in this one.

"Tequila" The Champs

what are the words again?

"Ninjutsu!" TMNT version.

sorry, just had to.

Tomorrow's weird cause I get an actual lunch break. 12-2. Plus finding parking. But still, weird. I'll take it.

Me and my big fat cat are out of here. Gonna watch the new Warehouse - which I keep saying that I'm going to but never get to it - and crash. It looks kind of like a Halloween episode - which I guess, if you think about it, every episode could be a Halloween episode, but in this one they get sucked into this video game thing or something and they'll all in costume. And no, it's not gonna be like Tron. Or Tron Legacy. Cause they're awful. And Warehouse is awesome. Totally stoked, wore my Claudia shirt to work the other day but masked it with a dress shirt over the top. Rocked it.
More to come.

Ghetto Superstar, that is what you are

Don't you hate it when you pack up a bunch of DVD's and books and stuff that are due but you forget they're in your bag so you totally don't drop them off even though you watched them like weeks ago but you keep forgetting to pack them and then when you finally don't forget you end up forgetting that you for once didn't forget so you forget to put them in the slot? Did that make sense?

...
....
...

close enough.

I'm getting fines cause I keep forgetting. Oh well, I'll take care of them later.

Totally stoked for Charlie's Angels the new series produced by Drew Barrymore, huzzah! Starting up on the 22nd of September which I guess is the 35th anniversary of the original series - take that Mom! I must be good since it's lasted that long! She makes fun of me cause I love it. So does Sketch, but whatever. The cheesy stunts and the too-loud music just adds to the show's dynamic of comedy, action, and more comedy. Cheesefest style.
"It's not the wilderness, Bosely."
So, from what I can tell, other than Drew's company Flower Films producing it they have the three angels - which to me are completely unknowns except for the blonde who played Lucy Fields on Grey's this past year.
And it's completely different - the chicks aren't all cops who were tired of the boring daily life, one was a thief, one was a dirty cop and the other was a carjacker and it's like Charlie is giving them a second chance or something.
Bosely is some dude who was in Battle Los Angeles, Robert Wagner was going to do the voice of Charlie but there was some sort of conflict there so I don't know if he's still attached to the project. But it will be Thursday nights on ABC like right before Grey's at 7.

here, watch this:

It looks a bit short-lived. Hopefully the series will be better than the previews.

This pilot is supposed to have Dina Meyer in it - aka Holly Snow from NCIS, Lady Irina from Castle, and Kate Miller from Friends. you know, the one that doesn't like Joey back, his costar who makes fun of him cause he couldn't open a carton of milk on an infomercial, then they're friends and they stay up talking and then she ditches him for LA? You know? maybe not. you have lives. I forget that sometimes.

"Everything" Michael Buble Live at Madison Square Garden

You're every line, you're every word, you're everything.
love all the accents. but the beginning of that song sounds too much like this song:

"Ghetto Superstar" Pras feat. Mya

cameo central.
so i sing that instead. even though this one is based off of this:

Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers "Islands in the Stream"

stick with it to the refrain, then you'll get it.

Had a burrito for supper, it was awesome. Think I'm gonna start going there more often. They have green tea too so I give them a thumbs up. Scale of Awesome says 9/10. Was nice, got off at 5 then started season one of 24. I'm still up in the air about that one. At this point I could take it or leave it. It's not all that intriguing and I'm kind of like, do I really need another series? I've got Six Feet Under waiting for me on the shelf plus all the ones I actually watch, if this one isn't interesting why put up with the 80 millions seasons it went through? Scale of Awesome says 5/10. I like some of the storylines but others are just stupid and I want them to move in. Which they don't. There are like 8 different storylines going at once. And it's 24 cause it's like 24 hours a day. Each episode is an hour in the day and it's like that for a whole season so like season 2 would be 24 hours of the next day. So, if there were like 8 seasons, which I think is what it was, but don't bet on that I don't really like the show so it's a total guess, it would just be 8 days total.

HA! There were 8, Aces!!

love that. "Have you seen these? You write important messages on them then affix them to objects. Aces!"
3 guesses as to who said that. Post-its, she's talking about post-its. Didn't know people could get that excited about post-its, but you should have seen my dorm rooms in college. Whenever I went on a writing binge they were hung all over the walls along with pictures of the characters and notes about their quirks, possible storylines and all that. I'm a nerd. I pick a character name then google for images on what I think they might look like, print them off and hang them up. Haven't had a chance to do that yet in my new apartment, it might look awkward in the living room, people see that room. Granted anyone who actually enters the room already knows about my crazy but for the maintenance people who occasionally visit, they don't need to know all about the crazy.

It is about time though - not for the crazy but for the pictures and all. Need to get back into the apartment story. I actually worked on that a little tonight just character names and ideas for each apartment.

alright, split shift tomorrow. gotta clean the apartment as well. out!

Groove is in the Heart

So, what did I do with my halfday off?

Rizzoli and Isles dancing behind the scenes - gotta love it

oh the joys. they do this a lot. but this was angie's birthday so i felt the need to post it.

She's back!

Paget's back on set. love it. Totally stoked for Criminal Minds - coming back September 21st! And the whole gang is signed in for the new season. They said they're bringing her back first episode but we'll see. You know Morgan's gonna be mad. Hotch will probably take a beating cause he knew. Not sure about JJ.

Other than working 11-2, not finishing my puzzle, writing barely, cleaning out my desktop, I did catch up on my TV/movies.

Watched the new Warehouse 13 online. HG's back with a vengeance! I heard rumors of a spinoff, I'm stoked but not. Cause I mean it'd be awesome cause she'd have her own show. But then it wouldn't because she wouldn't be with Pete and Myka and Claudia and all that. Maybe they'll do crossover episodes like they do with Eureka. and now apparently Alphas. It's like SyFy is blending all their shows together. Which is sweet. I know, nerd. Moving on. This week's episode was awesome, I highly encourage you find it online. Jack and Rebecca are back - "And me?" "You gaze at me lovingly." - they were Warehouse agents back in the 60's and Rebecca came in first season to help with case. They brought her back in second season and now in the third. Awesomeness.

Then went to see this:

Cowboys and Aliens

It actually was pretty good. Scale of Awesome says 8/10. Indiana Jones meets Space Cowboy Bond in this western good vs. evil flick. Harrison Ford, Daniel Craig, Olivia Wilde, Sam Rockwell. Directed by Jon Favreau - but see, everytime I hear that name I think of him in the Replacements, not him as the director of Iron Man.

Anyway, despite peoples' negative opinions on the movie - those who haven't seen it and say it looks dumb - I rather liked it. and would totally see it again...on DVD.

Quotes of the night:

"You're a bit of a blonde in a brunette's body."
me to my niece. cause it's true. she's just a little goofy. and blonde...at times. We told her she needs her own blog and that can be the title. The post can all be about B words. Boys. Brains. Bananas. Whatever. We'll see what happens with that.

"Watch out for Bobis."
not even gonna try to explain that one.

Oldest Sister: "Get your head out of your purse!"
M: "It smells nice in here!"

goofy.

and the famous
M: "Blame it on Dad. It's his fault I'm stupid."
but she knows how to spell stupid, so she's not that bad.

Also tonight saw the preview for the new Three Musketeers movie - totally going go see that.

Love Mr. Darcy with a sword and Orlando Bloom as the bad guy.

Music Rec's for the night:

"King of Wishful Thinking" Go West

played before the movie tonight - had to google the original artist

"Groove is in the Heart" Deee-Lite

love the video. everything disco is just fantastic - clothing, dancing, just pure awesomeness.

She'll make her way.

Put batteries in my wand. Best flashlight ever!

"Do you want juice or are you a milk person?" I hate milk. It's gross. Watching the Warehouse pilot. Moving on.

Last year today was when Delayed...Reaction did all of our recording which reminds me that I need to work more on that song. Maybe it'll be finished by next year. Ha! It's not as easy when it's just me.

Saw Harry Potter 7 with the boys tonight. Was cool, worked 9-6, went to Applebees for hamburgers and then hit up the movie. Loved it. "Blow it up? Boom?" "Boom!" 3rd time was even better. I love it. But totally sad that it's over. Hope PotterMore is awesome as well. We talked comics - as we usually do - and are stoked for the new Batman and Avengers movies.

Now I'm totally stoked to sleep in tomorrow. Only working part of the day then going to see a movie with Oldest Sister and maybe getting food. Can't remember what we're going to see but we're going to see something. Oh! Cowboys and Aliens. Cause it looks awesome. It's like Indiana Jones meets Space Bond. Who's lost his memory.

Think I'll wear my Angry Birds t-shirt to work tomorrow. I love being an Aide.

Still haven't finished that freaking puzzle. I just have this weird feeling that Oldest Sister is gonna steal a piece while I'm at work give it to me for Christmas. Because that's totally what I would do if the situation was reversed. And she's more devious than me.

Songs of the day:

"Wonder" Natalie Merchant

i enjoy her as well, solo and 10,000 maniacs.

"One Fine Day"

one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite movies. not talking about the rosie odonnell show, i'm talking One Fine Day - Michelle Pfeiffer and George Clooney plus little Mae Whitman and Alex D. Linz.

totally starving. gonna eat the rest of that chicken tikka - that i didn't eat last night around 2. yes, small children sleep more than i do, you knew that already.

OUT!

Thursday, August 4, 2011

I've never heard silence quite this loud.

JANSEN!
I love it. It's like "Towanda" minus the bubblewrap.

Have you ever had one of those days where you're so sore that doing something as simple as walking up a flight of stairs makes you want to writhe in pain? That was me today. And I worked 9-6. It wasn't a total epic fail though, I shelved and got a lot done this morning, then worked at the desk basically all day. Work Big Brother found this pair of paper glasses and said he'd pay me a dollar if I wore them for the rest of the night. And since there was only 10 minutes left in the day he owes me a buck. I rocked them.

Oh, my, god. So people know me now. Which sucks. I liked blending in. Even when I had red hair they still had no idea who I was. Today I called a branch looking for a hold that was supposed to be picked up at one I'm at but she accidentally sent it to be picked up somewhere else and the dude who answered was very nice and helpful and after he found her hold and put it to be sent over he's like, "oh and you have a hold." "for Martin?" "no, you." Um. what? I didn't tell him my last name, just my first and he made the connection. Although I have no idea what hold he was talking about for anything being held there for me. I'd never been there before the Food Drive. Which is what brought this all on in the first place. I sent out so many mass emails that I'd be surprised if everyone didn't know my name by now. Or at least that my name exists in the system. Man.

Have you ever watched a fictional show that has like magic or supernatural stuff in it and then switched over to a regular mystery show and just feel like at any point they're going to whip out some magical weapon or discover some artifact that is causing someone to kill all these people? or is that just me after watching a marathon of Warehouse 13 online. Caught up. Stoked about H.G. huzzah!

Can't believe camp is over already. Well, sort of. Now it's all the after camp meetings plus send out mailing stuff and feeback, burning picture cd's and sending them to all campers, checking budget, paying for everything we owe. yikes.
I was really proud of the kids and how they pulled off the skits. Here are a few, as promised.
3rd Grade Boys - Keeps Running
*Half of boys stand with arms up as trees, other half are birds that fly across the stage the counselors run through the trees 'til the end*
"This is the story of Camp Jefferson.
Every year starts out the same. During spring, the trees get greener and the birds come back north for the spring." *trees stand up with leaves and birds fly across*
"Then in the fall, the birds start their long journey south for the winter." *birds fly back across*
"And the trees start to change color." *trees spin around*
"In the winter, the trees have lost all their leaves" *drop leaves but keep arms up*
"Then in the summer Camp Jefferson takes place and the whole process repeats its self. Yep, Camp J is just like any other camp. And, just like any other camp, the sap keeps on running through the trees."

The 3rd Grade Girls sold brains, 1 was extrememly expensive because "It's the brain of a counselor, it's never been used!" sorry Emily.

4th Grade Boys had a firing squad - the boys about to be fired at would yell out a diversion, point behind them and the others would turn around and look while the original boy escaped. "Ready, Aim..." "Tornado!" turn. "Ready, Aim..." "Hurricane!" turn. last one wasn't so smart "Ready, aim..." "FIRE!" and then yeah, got shot with a water gun.

4th Grade Girls did Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. literally. They were all piano keys except the musician which was the one going around and hitting them on the head. Every time she hit one they would sing the next note in the song. We did it all the way through and I told the last one to be way off key so they musician lifted up her arms, smacked her on the forehead, shook her, then stomped away and after that she finally did it right.

5th grade boys were in a contagious disease ward. every time another one came in they'd get their symptoms as well. then a pregnant boy walks in and they all ran.

5th grade girls had the Scary Monster skit where one of my favorite girls - I've known her since she was like tiny tiny cause her mom used to be my counselor and she would bring her along. Anyway, she was under a sheet and people would come, look under the sheet, see her, scream and faint, until the last girl came and instead the monster jumped up and ran. Cause she was ever scarier than the monster.

6th grade boys fought over tracks - they're beaver tracks, no they're deer tracks, no they're beaver tracks, no they're deer tracks. turns out they're train tracks so you're dead because you don't look up in time and you get run over by the camp jefferson express

6th grade girls did Pencils for Sale in which there's a russian chick who only knows the following words "Pencils for sale" "3 for 50 cents" "yellow" "if you don't someone else will." not a good variety of english when someone comes by and doesn't want to buy pencils. it ends with "i'm gonna punch you in the face!" "if you don't someone else will." kablam!

7th and 8th grade boys did the HeeHaw skit with the 8th grade girls - I'll get there.
The 7th grade girls were a giant group so I had to divide them up. Group A got to do a continuation of last year's Rapunzal skit. Told you I'd bring her back. It's the later years. And I kill her off. Sort of.

7th Grade Girls group A - "She appears to be dead"

Witch: So, you thought you could escape the tower, Rapunzal, but no. I have found you and for your punishment you get the curse. Fall down on the ground and appear to be dead! MWHAHAHA! *girl falls down, 2 girls come to rescue*
Girl 1: You gotta call for an ambulance. She appears to be dead!
Chick: 911 what’s your emergency?
Girl 2 calls: Please, please you have to send an ambulance! There’s a girl here and she appears to be dead!
Chick: Who is she? What happened?
Girl 2: I don’t know, everything was fine then an evil witch cast a spell on her and she fell over and appears to be dead!
Chick: Where are you?
Girl 2: The sign says Montgomery and Westchester.
Chick: What did you say? You’re breaking up.
Girl 1: What’s wrong?
Girl 2: I’m breaking up. Blast this cellphone service!
Chick: Repeat what you said. Where are you?
Girl 2: Montgomery and Westchester.
Chick: Where?!
Girl 2: Montgomery and Westchester!!!
Chick: Westchester and what? I still can’t understand you! Try spelling it.
Girl 1: We’ve got to do something! She appears to be dead!
Girl 2: Uh, it’s M..O….T…G … hold on a minute. Let’s drag her over to King and Elm!

so that's the later years. maybe next year we'll cover Rapunzel the middle years.

Group B did this one:
Airplane Disaster
Four campers are sitting on chairs, one pretending to be an airplane pilot, and the others are the passengers.
Pilot: "The plane is too heavy - we can't land!"
1: "I'll throw out the drink cart!" (Throws a gatorade cooler out an imaginary window)
Pilot: "We're still too heavy to land!"
2: "I'll chuck out this packet of peanuts" (Throws peanuts out)
Pilot: We're still too heavy, throw something else out!"
3: “I’ll throw Cassie out!”
4: “What?! Not again!” *thrown out* “AHHHHH!!! This stinks!”
Pilot: “What’d you do for?”
3: “hehehehehe” evil laugh
Pilot: “Almost there, just one more thing!”
2 Pretends to throw something out and says: "Done."
Pilot: "What did you throw out that time?"
2: "A Grenade"
Pilot: "I don't think you should have done that. Oh, well, at least we can land now. Prepare to land. Everybody ready? 1.2.3. Jump!" *they all jump*
Pilot and passengers land the plane and start walking away.
They pass Camper 1, who is holding her head and the gatorade cooler.
Pilot: "What happened to you?"
Camper 1: "I was walking along and this drink cart fell out of the sky and hit me in the head!"
They pass Camper 2, who is holding her head and eating peanuts.
Pilot: "What happened to you?"
Camper 2: "I was walking along and this packet of peanuts fell out of the sky and hit me in the head!"
They pass Camper 3, who’s sitting in shock staring at passenger #4.
Pilot: What happened?!
Camper 3: “I was just sitting here, eating a banana when suddenly this chick just falls right in front of me. It’s rainin’ women!”
They pass Camper 4, who is laughing.
Pilot: "What happened to you?"
Camper 4: "I farted and the bathroom I was standing in blew up!"

And then there was the highlight of all highlights aka the 7/8th boys and 8th girls. These are the verses I used this year. I found them online - some lyrics, some youtube videos. next year i'll have to write more.

GIRLS 1. Remember when you went out hunting for possum? -- You said you’d get one and wouldn’t be long. -- That’s ten years ago and I’m sitting here waiting -- beginning to wonder if something went wrong.
Where Oh Where are you tonight? Why did you leave me here all alone? I searched the world over and thought I found true love. You met another and *pbbb* you was gone.

BOYS 2. Down here on the farm the weather is messy -- lying around with nothing to do -- when you went away you took my cow Bessie -- I miss her darling more than I miss you.
Where Oh Where are you tonight? Why did you leave me here all alone? I searched the world over and thought I found true love. You met another and *pbbb* you was gone.

GIRLS 3. Pardon me dear if my words seem bitter -- There’s no defense for my broken dreams. -- I didn’t know I married a quitter -- my life is coming apart at the seams.
Where Oh Where are you tonight? Why did you leave me here all alone? I searched the world over and thought I found true love. You met another and *pbbb* you was gone.

BOYS 4. Remember you phoned me a-sobbin' and cryin' -- The dog bit your maw, and drug her around -- You said she looked pale and thought she was dying -- I said "Don't worry, I'll buy a new hound."
Where Oh Where are you tonight? Why did you leave me here all alone? I searched the world over and thought I found true love. You met another and *pbbb* you was gone.

GIRLS 5. The noises you made at our supper table -- Your habits, my dear, were surely absurd -- But how many times do I have to tell you -- Soup is a dish to be seen and not heard
Where Oh Where are you tonight? Why did you leave me here all alone? I searched the world over and thought I found true love. You met another and *pbbb* you was gone.

BOYS 6. You took out your false teeth, your wig and your glasses – You were just scattered all over the place. – I wanted to kiss you and hug you so tightly – I guess I would have if I’d found your face
Where Oh Where are you tonight? Why did you leave me here all alone? I searched the world over and thought I found true love. You met another and *pbbb* you was gone.

Still working on uploading that video. I'll have plenty of pics to go with it once I get Jim's camera and all the pictures downloaded.

Other than camp life is good. Busy with work. Oh, quote of the day. My mom, who now reads this blog, read yesterday's massive post and all she had to say was, "didn't know you liked Justin Timberlake." I cracked up. Apparently actual people read this thing. which is a little nervewracking since I'm a nerd but I'll go with it.

"Story of Us" Taylor Swift

Completely stoked for Saturday. Tee it up for tuition is gonna rock. This is how we golf.
"Oh Oh Oh" Golf Boys

Song and dance included. And if it's a bad hit we say "there was no woohoo in your backswing." And Pastor is hysterical. "Woohoo with you. And also with you." Our orange t-shirts came in and they are super super bright. Apparently. I haven't seen them yet, they got sent to Nic at the school. I'll get mine Friday night. Huzzah!

I feel like there was so much more than I'm forgetting. Oh well, I'll post more tomorrow.

We can get crazy let it all out....

Why are the pockets always sewn shut in dress pants? Do men have that problem? Are your pockets sewn shut too or is that just another "let's torture the woman-kind thing"?
Like, "Ha! We will give them something that looks suspiciously like a pocket but when they try to use it...EPIC FAIL!"
Why are they giving you a pocket in the first place if you have no access to it? Is that some sort of style thing? Like, "These pants would look awkward without pockets. Let's give them fake ones." Cause you know, real ones would be just too functional.
And then, if you try to cut your way into it, you cut a hole in the pants. And really, how can you explain that at something like camp when you're surrounded by 100 kids?
"Um, I needed a pocket."
"So you made one yourself?"
"Well, sort of. Not that it's functional. But it's more of a pocket than the one they gave me."
And then they'd look at me funny.
Well, moreso than usual.
I know if I didn't add that Oldest Sister would.

No, I didn't cut a hole in my pants. I did buy new capri-type whatevers for camp but then realized that army green would look really bad with tangerine camp t-shirts - not that I aim for fashion, but since there will be parents and I'm supposed to look semi-adult and you know director-ish...I have no idea where I was going with that. Long story short the pants are staying here not only because it's super hot and I won't wear them anyway, but also because the pockets just make me mad. Or lack of pockets. Seriously. It's like the taunt you.
"Haha, you thought you could use us, but no!"
Yes, I know, this is very ranty and when I read that last line outloud it came with a French accent... I will try to tone it down a bit.

Was grandpa left-handed? Cause I have one of his shirts and the buttons are on the wrong side. I put it on when I'm stressed. Or cleaning. Which usually means I'm stressed anyway cause really the only way my apartment gets cleaned is if I'm avoiding doing something else. Like, oh! I have to write 8 skits by Friday morning! I'm gonna clean the apartment. Or, hey, isn't that paper due tomorrow? Nope, gonna clean the apartment. So, if you come to my apartment and it's actually cleaned and not just things thrown in the back closet with the door closed, BEWARE!

I'm freaked. Directors are dropping like flies - one of the tri-directors bailed, another has kidney stones, Jim is gone, Liz won't be there 'til Saturday night so the 6-headed monster is just down to me and Pastor. and Jayne. Who's a miracle worker in the kitchen. Plus Cherie for crafts. But music is me with 3 teen help and Nic. Because we're making her come. For Friday anyway. Then it's Becca on Saturday and I'm assuming Sunday.

And, if you took any part of that beginning rant seriously, you'd realize that no, I haven't written/found skits yet. Well, I started. You know, looking through a website and tagging a few. But they suck. Cause they're not mine. But I think mine always suck anyway. So maybe they're okay.

Jim says we should do "tankety-tank-tank" again. Think I'll save that for next year maybe since the boys that did it 5th grade year are only 8th graders now. After they're teen help and/or gone enough time will have passed to use it again.
It's my favorite so far. I'll post it later. Along with the list of others I use. Or used. As this is my last post for like a week. Yeah, Wednesday night I come back. Then work 9-6 Thursday.

But I love my job. And my boss. Who gave me 3 points today for Food Drive related statements. Basically what I learned by co-chairing it leadership-wise. I came up with some oddball stuff, I think there were 13 things I'd learned that I listed and maybe 2 of them were serious. Like how to get to all the branches and how much the Food Bank does with so little support. The others were more like if you text Fearless Leader *invisible milkjug dance* *invisible milkjug dance* over and over she'll remember to pick up empty milkjugs after work. Or Remember to grab your apartment keys out of your vehicle if you're switching with someone or you'll get locked out of your apartment for 8 hours. And if I mention the words "Food" and "Drive" to the Cool Aunt she'll drive over and donate. Oh, btw - if you're reading this, we won the competition. Downtown had the most total but per person we dominated. Mostly because there's only 7 of us.
Woops, did I just let that slip. Well, I'm e-mailing the announcement tomorrow during work anyway. So for those of you reading this before like 1PM...ish maybe 2 or 3, congrats. You've got the...what do you call it when you get the news before everyone else? Dish? or like Inside Scoop? Whatever. I can't even think of real words how am I supposed to write skits?

WHO PUT ME IN CHARGE OF THIS ANYWAY?! I was volunteered! I honestly don't know how this happened. But I'm here. And I love it. Mostly. So I should probably get back to it. Or clean my apartment.

But speaking of work, SHE'S SAFE! Well, for now anyway. Unless they really do plan to fire me - they're going to have to do it over the phone. That'll be pleasant. Budget cuts at work suck.

Oh, btw, I'm thinking of making my 7th/8th grade boys do this:

Seriously. Or like a series of them between skits. I found a bunch of others. Maybe I'll make them do it between each grade or something. But getting an older boy to sing is like bloody murder. Especially when the girls are around. But I got Jeffrey. He's brave. I'll make him be lead. Or his sister will since she's my teen helper. He was the victim of tankety-tank-tank too.

Okay, I was literally singing that refrain over and over and over while shelving this morning. Drove me bananas. So, gonna blast it out with this one, find skits, shower, finish packing...or maybe I'll just clean my apartment. And watch Warehouse 13.
Watch this.
Everyone loves H.G. Wells.

Badass.
"You were covetting my grappler."
...
"It's a little old fashioned."
"Well, it wasn't when I invented it."

See, and now I've lost all motivation again. Okay, kicking myself off of here.
I'll post next week, in the meantime enjoy this little vacation. You put up with all my crap all the time, take some time off. You deserve it.

Tonight, Tonight - Hot Chelle Rae

Summer song makes another appearance because I'm clueless as to anything other than Where Oh Where's theme of the day.

Tuesday, July 26, 2011

I have the magic ingredient, it's called Splenda.

Freakin' H.G. Wells. Seriously. The woman is a mystery. But the finale was fantastic, and sad. Gonna have to find the first episode of season three online cause duuude...cliffhanger.

So yes, you'd think that after a hard day of moving 12 bins all over the place that were overflowing with food and weighed about 100 pounds each, plus collecting all the change, taking it to the bank to figure out the winner, and then coming back to work after all that - AND did I mention that I left my apartment keys in my car back at the farmhouse so I was locked out all day plus I took a detour to visit Oldest Sister's house to take care of their animals - that all I'd want to do is come back and write skits for camp. Write skits and plan and freak out about how I'm not ready and Skits & Worship is going to be a disaster without Liz because we only have 1 guitar... I have no idea for new skits I'll have to find some online because I don't have time or inspiration - i hate writer's block.

But no, instead I crashed on my bed and turned on season two of Warehouse 13 and watched the last disc. H.G. Wells is tricky. Is she good? Is she bad? Yes, that H.G. Wells, they turned him into a her and her into a mystery. I won't say anything more in case someone else on earth actually watches this show other than me. But yeah, the last disc, including when Claudia Donovan guest stars on Eureka in a big crossover episode.
"I came to Eureka and I got was this stupid fence?"

I tried that series but couldn't get into it, even though it's basically the same kind of story except in Eureka, Oregon instead of podunk South Dakota. And-

OH MY GOD that's a giant bug and it crawled across my wall. Gotta find a shoe.....
....
..
....
..
Or a dealer's license plate, that works as well. Dude. giant bug.

Now I'm just starving and exhausted. But my fridge is empty. Maybe I have something in the freezer.

Alright, I started packing. I'd upload a picture of my bedroom right now but it's probably enough to make even the messiest person scream in terror. And speaking of screaming in terror - I live in fear of opening my mailbox because every day I get more application forms for camp. I just love it when I get them on the 26th when camp is on the 29th and the deadline was the 1st. AKA 25 days ago.

Okay, food. Then crash. Long day tomorrow. Work all day then need to write all my skits - 9 of them btw...just throwing that out there. any ideas email me - then pack my car cause I'm leaving straight after work on Thursday.

Aye Aye, Captain Bligh

Jammin' on my couch. Eatin' corn. Watchin' Warehouse 13.

"We interrupt this concert to bring you your regularly scheduled job."
I want Claudia's headphones. Oh! Look! She's from Firefly! Jewel Staite, she plays Kaylee. And she guest starred on Dead Like Me. With Laura Harris aka Jill. Who also guest starred on Warehouse. But she'll forever be Jill. Yeah, yeah, WMC. Moving on.

Today went pretty fast even though it was pretty long. 9-1, 2-4, 6-8.
Mom brought my cellphone so I'm back with the world! I had to actually set an alarm alarm on a clock clock instead of just my alarm on my cell. Was afraid I would sleep through it but it worked. I set two separate ones actually.
And Cool Aunt stopped by today with stuff for the Food Drive, huzzah! She rocks. And on Thursday it'll be jalapeno margaritas!

So, got Warehouse 13 Season Two from Target and I watched the first episode because of the major cliffhanger from last season but I haven't seen any of the others yet. Which of course I'm choosing to watch even though I have movies due back to the library next week. Eh. I'll get to them.

It's Super Myka!

pretty much the cheesiest dialogue in the show and she's dressed like catwoman. She doesn't usually look like that. I mean, she's a badass but she's like a secret service badass. In a suit. With a Tesla.

As badass as Myka can be, Claudia Donovan is still my hero.
Boom Goes The Dynamite

Serendipity

love the look from Artie there at the end.

Disturbia music video to Warehouse clips

cause i'm a nerd. don't worry i didn't make it.

Basically the premise is that Myka and Pete were secret service agents who protect the president and one day they're mysteriously reassigned to guard this warehouse in podunk South Dakota. But! The Warehouse - number 13 after the previous 12 burnt to the ground or exploded etc - is filled with mysterious artifacts from all over the world. Artie calls it America's Attic.
But there's stuff like Sylvia Plath's typewriter which makes you completely depressed,
Harriet Tubman's thimble which changes your appearance,
the disco ball from Studio 54 makes people dance,
H.G. Wells' Time Machine that allows you to be someone from the past, etc. But H.G. Wells is a chick. In this anyway.
and Nikola Tesla's pistol which stuns people instead of you know killing them with bullets. It's cool.
But yeah, so these artifacts all over the world start causing trouble and problems and stuff so they go snag them, bag them, and tag them then bring them back to the Warehouse.

Yes I'm a nerd. Get over it.

Okay, eating, watching, and soon will be crashing. So, I'll throw these at you and give you a break for the night.

"Juicy" Better Than Ezra

family song.

"Birds of a Feather" The Rosenbergs

castle song. love it.

Just Say No! to vending machine orange juice.

Seriously. I had my poptart so I got a bottle of orange juice from the vending machine and spent the day drowning out the taste with Dr. Pepper and gum. Gross. Bitter Central. Yikes.

So, I've found that working in public service has killed my phone-talking skills. Not that I had any to begin with, but like parents will call with questions about camp and I'll say something like "Can I help you with anything else" which just sounds awkward and geeky over the phone, but I'm so used to saying it at work that it just comes out. I guess it's better than "Can I help you find anything else?" which wouldn't really make sense over the phone. There's a reason I keep my phone conversations between my family and Sketch. They already know I'm awkward and geeky.

Speaking of awkward and geeky:
"Where you'll see....ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Because Carmen stole all 162 stones that make up this ancient ruin known as Stonehenge!" Where On Earth is Carmen San Diego isn't as good as the regular series/game aka Where in the World is... Mostly because the Chief is a dude instead of you know, Lynne Thigpen.

She's my definition of the Chief. Other than my best friend growing up. Who I still call Chief. But that's another story.
"Things are getting yucky in Kentucky!" I got the TV series from the library because I like the game. But, much like any of the Super Mario Bros. movies, it's just not the same. It'll go back tomorrow, along with all the other movies I finally watched this weekend.
Now all that's left are "Justified" "Heathers" "The Match Game" "Andy Richter..." and of course "The Wizard of Oz." But, I have tomorrow night as well. Think I'll stick in Warehouse 13 season two instead. I always get distracted with my own stuff.

Today I was all day at the same place and the same for tomorrow. After that is my day off! Which means Camp central aka emailing dude about t-shirt designs, going over new registrations, printing out more forms cause I ran out, printing off all the nametags and shoving them into the lanyards which we'll have to clean out....what else? Oh, going through the trailer. Cause we keep putting that off. Technically we were going to do it last time but we couldn't find the key. Oh and I have to figure out a second lifeguard. Cause one member of the dynamic duo can't make it. Fun times. Oh and the skits. Which of course I haven't started. Who writes those things in advance? I mean, seriously? I think best at 2AM night before. You know, when I'm already there and freaking out because I haven't done them yet. Maybe if I write them beforehand and they don't suck I will post them on here. But don't be surprised if they do suck.

Last year I wrote a decent one - which I would post but it's too long - called "Rapunzel: The Early Years" and it kind of demands a sequel. But I don't know. I'll ask M and see if she'd be interested in seeing it continued as it was her cabin that did it. They got pretty into it, it was amusing actually. "Oh no, I've been sabotaged by a Demon Radish!" This year I only have 3 8th grade girls, so I'd either have to pilfer some of the 7th graders or make the teen helpers do it. We'll see. That got pretty long. And "The Later Years" would be even longer cause you'd have to do the highlights version of "The Early Years" all over again. Like "Previously on Rapunzel, The Life and Times"...

Father - Let’s melt her with water!
Ogre - Good idea!
Mother - Take your squirt gun.
*Sneak to Witch’s house*
Ogre - Singing telegram!
Witch - Singing telegram for me?
*Squirt witch with water*
Witch - You fools! Water does nothing to me! That only works in the movies! There’s nothing you can do! A deal is a deal! Once it’s born, your child will be mine! Mwahahaha!
All - DUN DUN DUNNNN……..
Human - Oh no! She can’t get the child! What kind of ending is that?!
All - Tune in next year for Rapunzel: The Later Years

and then it'd be what like

"19 years later..."
...
....
...

What exactly did Rapunzel do in that tower? I mean, she could only brush her hair for so long... and she couldn't reach all of it, right? So...maybe the Witch became her teacher or something. Tried to teach her the ways of evil but she resisted. She was just too good to do any evil. That's why she locked her in tower!!! No, that's dumb. Umm.... I'm stuck. Email me ideas. You're clever.

And I can't even use my trick! I freaking sabotaged myself! Stupid Demon Radish! Not you M. You're awesome. Just the, you know the, essence of De- I don't know. Curses, foiled again.
See, I have this trick for Writer's Block that goes like this.
It's called "Firsts" - you take the characters and write their First something. Like their first meeting, or their first date, or their first time on a rollercoaster, etc.
But it has to be a First because when you think about it, all good stories are about some sort of First. If people only wrote about what people do everyday with no variation or first time for something or sense of not knowing what's going to happen then all the stories would suck. There has to be some element of "First" in every good story. Which sounds semi-cheesy, I know. But it works for me. Cause it sparks story ideas.

BUT! In this case! I can't use it! Because I already wrote the ultimate freakin' First for this story. I guess I could do like the First time they visited the tower. Or the first time the witch left her alone inside of it. The First time some dude tried to climb up her hair. Okay, plenty of firsts. Maybe one of them will spark something permanent. Off I go. Trying to write while watching Warehouse in the background. One of those won't last very long. Wow. check out the W's in that sentence. write while watching warehouse...okay.
I've lost it.
I need to sign out and start on the freakin' skits.
Or the apartment thing. If you have no idea what I'm talking about go here: My Life in Closed Captions: Choot 'em LizBet!
Oh, I thought up more fun tenants.
And one of them is an assassin. So that's exciting. That was another part of the original inspiration, besides the Exotic Dancers next door jokes. We read this story in Fiction Writing about this office building and it bounced from person to person and one of them is a serial killer. They all know but he hasn't killed any of them so they're fine with it.

this is starting to get super long. if you're still around here are you music rec's for the night:

Just because I can. Don't hurt me tomorrow.

"Spice Up Your Life" - Spice Girls

"We've got a deal!" I love 0:26 and 2:15. Yes that is MeatLoaf dancing at 1:12, and Alan Cumming at 2:11 and James Bond at 2:19.

"I Want You Back" - NSync

90's must have been a space craze - the music video for the song above also involves space ships.

Goodnight Gumshoes!

PS - Oldest Sister started a blog. Wonder where she got that idea? I think I'm toast.
