Ah Wednesdays.
The day of the dead.
I've noticed that Wednesdays and Thursdays especially the library staff just seems dead.
You would think that would happen on a Monday. Tuesdays are fine, Friday's we're antsy, but Wednesdays and Thursdays just bring a general deadness.
No idea why.
It didn't help that 2 of the public service staff called in sick today.
A lot of red in the schedule.
More sickness. Glad I had it and am over it. Usually I'm the last to catch things.
Blame that on my stubbornness. And the "it's all mental" attitude.
Did a lot of TAB info stuff, went to church after, sat in the balcony with Oldest Sister.
She is the organist.
More patient with the piano than I ever was. Though I can blame that on a few factors that I won't mention on here.
After church got to talk with Beej and JoJo then headed back here to watch NCIS. Loving the ex-wife showing up during their investigation. Hilarious.
Now I'm watching Mike and Molly but the deadness has carried on so I'll probably end up konking out before midnight.
Geez, is it really only 11 now?
This no homework thing is really screwing with my brain. Aw, crap. I gotta fill out those online evaluation forms.
Okay, new plan: fill out forms, check grades, then sleep.
Ready? Break!
I'm sorry, I'm boring.
Here, be entertained.
Clip of the night:

love the Diva impression.
These guys are just genuinely awesome. Too bad Cee-Lo isn't there.

Umm, okay?
90's country was the best.
pre-midnight post. holy crap tag in usage.
I could write a blog. I have thoughts.

i'm not clever enough at this point to think of a good title for this post.
This is so weird. I don't take sick days, let alone two in a row. I got a letter from the mayor last year for perfect attendance for crying out loud. This bites.
Okay, so here is my deal.
My new attitude in life is "it's all mental." I blame my high school basketball coach, he used to say it over and over in practice, but I've learned to live by it now.
If I feel like crap I power through and cover for anyone else, But when I have a fever and it's legitimately contageous, that's when I crash and burn.
Yesterday and today have been ridiculous.
Yesterday I was freezing, literally freezing, and had the heat on high.
It drove Carter nuts, he was sitting by the glass doors to stay cool.
Today I was burning up and opened the glass doors to let in the cool air.
I didn't eat anything yesterday - that's how I knew I was actually sick - today I force-fed myself ice-cream cake - how can anyone seriously say they force-fed themselves ice-cream cake? that sounds like an oxymoron - but now I just feel nauseous.
But see, that's my thing though.
Cause I'm nauseous all the time anyway.
So, how can I tell if it's a symptom of whatever the hell I have at this time, or if it's just the regular nausea thing that has turned into daily life?
Like, am I sick and nausea is a part of it? or am I just nauseous AND sick?
Did that make sense?
I don't think it did.
I can't even freakin' sit up at this point in time. I tried to shower but couldn't stand up long enough.
According to my mother I have what's going around the family and it takes a while to get through it. Oh, and she also told me I'm supposed to gargle saltwater - gross, that might legitimately make me throw up - but I passed on that.
So here's the deal for tomorrow.
I'm going to bed IMMEDIATELY after this post. If I wake up tomorrow and I have a fever or I can't stand up for longer than two minutes, as was the problem this morning and afternoon, then I'm going to the doctor. Or having my sister take me there, cause driving probably isn't a good idea.
If there is no fever, and I am able to walk around my apartment and stand for longer than two minutes, then I'm going to work.
I have Friday off, all I need to do is power through 8 hours on Thursday, come home and work on that presentation, and then I can crash for another entire day.
It's all mental, I can do that.
Yesterday I slept pretty much all day, when I wasn't texting the boyfriend or my mother. Today I spent on the couch, working through the DVR. Yeah. Too exhausted to even get up to put in a DVD. But I got through Castle, NCIS, The Voice, oohh, I forgot about Bones. Oh well, I'll save it for later.
Right now I am out. For like 11 hours, hopefully. Whenever I sleep I like alternate between being too cold and too hot. And cough up a lung. And Carter sits on me and stares at me - he has decided that if I'm home then I need to pay attention to him.
Or he's just mad I stole his spot.
Afterall, it is HIS apartment, I just stay here.
Or that's what he thinks at least.
Guess it depends on tomorrow. Wish me luck.
I'm out.

The Fool-Proof Diet
So we came up with a plan.
And by we I mean myself, Squirt and the awesomeness that is Megan.
To write our own diet book.
You know? One to go amongst the 613 section of the library.
These are our diet rules:
-Eating someone else's food means no calories cause it's not your food.
-If you eat a donut it's only half the calories cause there's a big hole in the middle.
-If you eat a snickers bar while running in place it doesn't count cause they cancel each other out.
-Diet pop means you lose weight as you drink it cause it has diet in the title.
And we call our plan the "Fool-Proof Diet" because it takes fools to prove that our diet doesn't work.
But we're thinking of coming up with more rules - there were more thrown out on the car ride back from the event tonight but I've forgotten half of them. I'm sure they'll remind me tomorrow. Then I will include them in that post.
Anyway, we're thinking of writing this book, then taking before and after pictures but in reverse.
Like Before: *insert picture* we were skinny.
And After: *insert picture* we weigh 400 pounds each.
We would probably need some sort of strong disclaimer to go on the cover.
Like, "if you're serious about dieting you should seriously stay away from this book."
Or something of the sort.
Then use really cool pen names like Marsha Mellow or Chris P. Bacon.
I'm kinda digging it.
Today was like completely weird schedule-wise. 1-5, which actually were my normal hours before I was 40 hours, but then 6-9 for this big TAB event.
Friday the 13th means murder, mystery and mayhem so we had a murder mystery event for the teens over at one of the branches.
It was fun. And loaded with teens, I was impressed.
Neon cheese-puffs were included so I mean how can you say no to that?
I should add that to our diet plan.
Aside from the splitting headache - and I mean actual makes you want to crawl in the corner because this NEVER happens EVER kind of pain - it went off without any major catastophes.
About an hour into it I was alright - I'm library personnel, you just power through it. It's what you do.
It's all mental.
Freakin' Coach Otte, I blame my new life motto on you.
Anyway, the teens got pretty into the whole thing.
Some had parts and were the suspects, the rest were put into groups - I led group 3, woohoo! - and we went around to the crime scene and the detective's desk and all that. Then came back to the room and I made them round-table. They figured it out, I was pretty proud.
And the most unsuspecting person in the world was the murderer, which I LOVED! Because it was one of my coworker's kids. Well, two of my coworkers technically cause they're married and both work with me, but I usually only work with one of them.
But this girl was fantastic, she was helping me put pop and ice in the cooler before everyone arrived and was stabbing the ice pack. "I have violent tendencies." She's like the most mild-mannered girl ever, so her as the murderer just seriously made me laugh.
Especially because she was just sitting at the crime scene reading.
All innocent.
Nope, she poisoned the librarian so she could avoid being arrested for plagiarism!
The set-up was pretty sweet. We even had a taped outline of the murder victim.
I took pictures of them taping it out, but they would probably kill me if I uploaded them.
It was super cool meeting some of the other librarians.
I mean, I've seen them around, but you don't really talk because you're always in meetings or staff inservice or whatever.
These were the other TAB leaders and it was a seriously fun group.
I'm getting more excited as the process goes along.
Although my mentor was loving the fact that she just got to be the advisor tonight.
"You wanna do it?"
"Nope, I'm the mentor."
Our kids kicked butt.
I mean, so did everybody else's, but I was proud of ours and their acting skills.
And they all seemed to have fun.
Next up for TAB is a meeting for more Summer Reading activity planning.
I have a feeling that's going to become my life for the next few months.
Fantastic, just in time for CAMP planning.
And class.
Speaking of, I have my first session on Sunday afternoon.
Carpooling with an awesome classmate so the Library Goddess might have to live without her coffee from me this semester. Not sure if I'll see her anyway, unless I stop by her office.
Which I will.
Always leave the Cool Aunt a note after every class.
Lately it's been pictures.
A turkey for Thanksgiving, a tree for Christmas.
What do I draw now?
MLK?
He does rock.
And we do get a three day weekend because he rocks.
Which means he rocks even more in my book.
And speaking of books and rocking and MLK, my booklist is officially out there, I'm stoked!
Go here: If You Like "The Help"
It's a super awesome website if you're looking for a good book or movie.
Info-Man and Darth Scheduler are major Star Wars fans so if you find the Star Wars booklist you'll be looking at hundreds, and I mean hundreds, of Star Wars titles.
Plain White T's Week: Day Six
Friday the 13th pretty much demands mysterious and weird music, right?
"Welcome to Mystery"
okay, i can't even focus on the song cause all i can see is that dude on the right with the blue shirt dancing like an idiot.
"Cirque Dans La Rue"
"but just remember, while you're watching us do the things that we do,
We're watching you!"
Quote of the night:
Me: Bye Fluffy.
Bubby: Bye.
Me: I was talking to the cat.
Bubby: Well that was awkward.

Treading trodden trails for a long long time
Called in sick, spent the day on the couch.
Couldn't even stand up this morning, was all light-headed, burning up and just dead.
Second Sister says that it must be serious as I never call in even if I am sick. Even Mom was worried.
But I figured Superwoman would take away points if I crashed at the public service desk.
Called Girlscout and she took care of it, then took my temperature and ended up with 100.1 - probably best I called in.
No idea where it came from.
Hope it's not the flu. Then Glee-Loving Boss will give me even more crap about that flu shot thing. I told him I'd rather get the flu than the shot. Probably shot myself in the foot with that.
So it was a lazy day, the only semi-productive things I did all day were open the door for the repairman who came to fix my water heater - I've been living on cold showers, not cool in winter - and talked to my sister-in-law on the phone about a Christmas present thing.
The rest of the day I slept, didn't even turn on the TV until the repair guy got here. Figured it would be awkward if I was sleeping while he was here.
Now I'm up again. Figured I should eat something. Chicken noodle it is. Though I don't have much of an appetite.
And my cat isn't even here to keep me company, he's living it up at the farm. He stayed there since I'm just going back out again this weekend and packing him up and driving him back didn't seem all that appealing since I would just be taking him back again in a few days. Plus he likes it there. As long as he doesn't go outside and have to deal with the gangwar between the North Side and South Side cats.
Anyway, of all the days to be sick, I actually had plans tonight.
Shocking, I know.
But it's true.
I'm headed back to bed after the soup, should be back to at least 90% by tomorrow.
If not I'll probably go anyway.
Coach Otte, our high school assistant basketball coach, used to say "It's all mental."
I used to hate it when he said that.
Seriously.
We all did.
Now I live by it.
I'm a workaholic and love my job. Get used to it.
Alright, a music rec and I'm out.
"So Much to Say" Dave Matthews Band
stuck in my head.
no idea where that came from either.
and now i'm singing jimmy fallon. dangit sarah, i blame you.
must turn on movie or something to get music out of head.

Edit Gets Back From a Rock Concert
Okay, so I'll make this short and then add a Sketch and Edit. I'm posting this one in particular because it's how I'm feeling currently. Thankfully I have tomorrow off to sleep in and all that. I went to work and felt fine, until I started working, then I got all light-headed and burning up again. But I toughed it out, it was only 3hours. I keep hearing Coach Otte's voice in my head "It's all mental!" But it's not working. Sorry Coach. When I got home I crashed and burned - a familiar concept lately - and my brother-in-law brought me groceries because I'm spoiled and had no food. But hey, they offered so I took it up. Well, my sister offered anyway, I'm sure he was thrilled to bring them all over here. I love my family. Now I'm laid out on my couch in my awesome blue sun hoodie, yay for firefly, and going to start How I Met Your Mother season one.

E – “Ow.” *limping*
S – “Hey, how was the concert?”
E – “Ow.”
S – “Whoa, are you okay?”
E – “Ow.”
S – “What happened?”
E – “I tried to crowd surf and the tide went out.”
S – “Seriously?”
E – “The sea just parted.”
S – “You tried to crowd surf?”
E – “Yeah, so? Ow.”
S – “You?”
E – “Sometimes, people do things in crowds that they would never do on their own. We learned all about it in Social Psychology.”
S – “I think you’d need a crowd for this one. I don’t think you can do it alone.”
E – “Yeah, I figured that one out.”
S – “Haha, bright side?”
E – “Oh I dare you. Cheese it woman, I’m in pain.”
Faaaaaaaalllllll on your Kneeeees....... Ohh Heeeeeear the angel Vooooiiices...stuck in my head. Told you they stay on my ipod until July. And then it's pointless to take them off so I just leave them on. I start singing Santababy in August anyway.
