I could write a blog. I have thoughts.

Hot Babes Getting Hotter: You'll See Less Of Us Soon

They're bringing book-it back.
All of us readers know just how to act.
Hit the library, pull books from the stacks.
Pass up on those by literary hacks.

None of them abridged!

Go ahead, read more of it.

Why yes that was a spin on a Justin Timberlake "classic."

Sorry, nerd.

But yes they're bringing it back. Apparently even as an adult you can get free pizza. Did anyone else do that in grade school? You read so many pages and then you get free stuff from Pizza Hut. It was awesome. Will have to look into that.

Dangit...now that's gonna be stuck in my head all night. Moving on.

Interesting couple of weeks with lots to post about. Will attempt to cover them in some semblance of order.

First up: Leadership Award

So, remember when that library patron was having a stroke and we had to call 911 and all that? If not, go here.

Superwoman decided that we handled it well so she nominated me for this leadership award. I didn't win - not that I was expecting to - but I got to go to this luncheon and be honored and all that. She wrote up a very nice summary of what happened and other stuff I'm involved in and they read it all outloud.

It was fun - I got free food, woohoo! Plus Mom came up which was nice. It was amusing cause afterwards Superwoman was like "I thought we had it in the bag!" and Girlscout after asking if I won said "well, did anyone else save someone's life?!"

Really not that big of a deal, but entertaining that they were so passionate about it.

Honestly I'm just glad he came to us and we were able to get him help, I can only imagine what would have happened if he went somewhere else.

Anyway, it's nice to feel appreciated every once in a while. Plus it was a good opportunity to meet people who also work for the city/county and hear their stories and all that.

Next up: Motley Crue/Alice Cooper/Raskins

I don't know what it is with us and concerts lately, but there's been a lot of drama. See this.

Last time it was "I will shoulder a 12-year-old for you, that's love."
This time it was "I would punch that girl in the face for you, that's love."

I took off work early so we could get there with plenty of time to check in to our hotel and find our seats. Hotel room was nice, had a hot tub and all that, huzzah.

Then when we got to the concert we found our seats and watched the first band. People starting filling in around us and suddenly we hear this girl say "they're in our seats." We double check our tickets and they're correct so we assume she's talking about someone else. Suddenly the usher shows up wanting to see our tickets. He confirms they're legit and goes back to the girl. Hers also say the same seats. Turns out she had booked that entire row for her family and we were in the middle of it all. The usher made us get up and go to guest services. We went and they claimed they can't do anything without both sets of tickets and that there's no possible way to have duplicate tickets if they're legit. Since the other people with the tickets didn't come with us they wrote down different seat numbers on the tickets and told us to sit there. They were just a few seats down, but still in the middle of the family. When we pointed that out and that they had that whole row booked the lady said that those two seats were unsold so that wasn't possible.

I assume that means the error was on the family's end if the event center has no record of them having all the tickets, but whatever.

We went back to our section and on the way ran into that girl. I asked if she would go to guest services, she said no and walked away. When we got back to our section we told the usher. He confirmed there were people in that entire row and offered to go to guest services with us. After talking it through with the usher there to back us up they moved us to the opposite side of the concert. Meanwhile we're missing Alice Cooper - not that I'm a huge fan, but the boyfriend missed a song he liked. When we got to our new seats there were people in those too! That meant getting yet another usher who kicked them out and we finally got to sit down and watch the concert. We were glad to be way on the opposite side as that family, but our seats were right behind the exit so there were constantly people standing up in front of us going in and out.

But whatever, eventually it calmed down and it was a good show. Lots of pyrotechnics, though my favorite part was when Tommy Lee and his drumset went into the audience.

Look at this:

See that lighted box toward the left attached to the red bars? That's him strapped on to his drums, doing flips and drumming upside down.

Cool right?

Here are some of my other favorite shots.

After the madness that was the concert we got back to the hotel, ordered pizza - so did everyone else getting back from the concert according to the woman on the phone - and relaxed in our hot tub watching Pawn Stars 'til the pizza arrived.

After having a hot tub in that hotel and the Luxor I have decided that once we're married and have a house our first major purchase should be a hot tub.

Sounds reasonable, right?

Third is a visit from one half of P Squared.

So after a weekend filled with all of our teams losing we have come to the conclusion that we are no longer allowed to watch sports together. Went to the hockey game and we lost against our rivals. Went to the Husker game and we lost to Minnesota. Watched the Bruins play and they lost to the Canadiens. The only team that did win this weekend was the Blackhawks and that was because - you guessed it - we didn't watch it. So no more sports for us when we're together. Otherwise we'll have to start rooting for teams we don't like so they'll lose. Hmm... Was good to see her though. With the exception of a random lunch a few months ago it's been years since we've hung out which is weird cause we used to all the time. She's a friend from back home and by back home I mean when we were little on the farm. Used to ride the bus together every day. Got separated in high school but still did every New Years together. Yes she's one of P Squared who I did all the New Years, Dance Dance Revolution, running around the house with sparkling cider and shooting it all over the place at midnight with. But I've already rambled to you about that. Was good to hang out though especially now that she's got this fancy new job and is moving yet again. Crazy!

Fourth is Mockingjay Part One.

When putting together our schedule for this year's TAB events the first thing on their wishlist was to do a Mockingjay party like we did for Catching Fire last year. I got it cleared so we went and it was great. Went to the library early, set stuff up then we all met at the theater. We were in the new one with those fancy seats - I don't know if they have these at your theater or not but in this one they're like barcaloungers. You can put your feet up and they've got cupholders and all that. Just ridiculously cool. The movie was great, then we walked back to the library for trivia, games and snacks. For trivia this year I added something special - if you got your question right you had the opportunity to shoot an arrow at a target for more points. The team that won hit the bullseye twice so in the end it wasn't even close. The string obstacle course was Level 2 compared to last year - much harder. I think I posted pictures of that last year - here's the one from this year.

Much more challenging. Not a single kid made it through without knocking down a string. The rule was you can touch them but if you knock one down 10 seconds was added to your time. The one who got through the fastest was one of mine so I was proud. While some were doing that others were eating snacks and discussing book vs. movie. I was proud that most of them had read it, which made the trivia a lot better cause most of it was from the book instead of the movie.

Fifth is a family reunion.

My cousin just retired after 20 years in the airforce and is making the rounds. Was the first time I've seen him in at least a decade. I can't even remember the last time which probably means it was a funeral back in 2003. He missed out on our Vegas trip a few years back cause he was God knows where. Was good to see him and actually amusing because he flies military airplanes and the boyfriend makes parts for them so they had plenty to talk about.

Sixth is a visit from my favorite team - Stars at the library!

Two players came for storytime and read hockey picture books to the kids. They even danced and signed posters for them. It was super cute and the kids got really into it. I took a bunch of pictures for the website and then of course had to get a picture with them myself. Not a stalker I promise, though I was wearing my signed jersey. It was awesome. Posted that picture to my Twitter, now one of them follows me, the other one favorited it, and it got retweeted by the team. Then this morning I learned that the team's official Twitter starting following me. Take that Bembridge Scholars.

Don't ask.

Seventh is the Code Word.

I've been doing a bunch of training lately for two of our new employees. I explained to them our code word to get away from the desk and told them some of my horror/amusing stories from the past. Most notable being "likes ass or jazz" and the double emergency when Queen of the Known Universe coded me so I could get away and then the same guy latched on to her and I had to code her out too. Soon after telling them about the code I was talking to the female security guard and a guy came up to her claiming he was a musician and needed a security guard to escort him around the library so he wouldn't be mobbed by crazy fans. I didn't recognize him but Wordie did and said he was full of crap. Soon after she returned and said he did it to get her alone cause he asked if she was single. Cheesy but slick, I can dig it.

Eighth is Thanksgiving/Day After.

Did lunch with his family and then afternoon/supper with mine. Lunch was good. The restaurant was packed but I'm glad we went because the other part of the family that was planning to come couldn't make it. After lunch we headed to my sister's place where we watched football, looked through Christmas ads, and then he slept cause he went to work that night afterwards. Voluntarily. Cause he's crazy like that. I stayed over at the farmhouse and the next day set up the trees. I took a break mid-tree to eat lunch with mom and my great aunt at her nursing home. They did a baked potato bar and then had the game going for the residents that wanted to watch. The staff there was quite passionate about the game, chanting the Go Big Red cheer, leading the wave (regular and slow motion with the residents), playing the fight song over the loudspeaker, and then singing Kum-ba-ya when we were doing awful. It was highly entertaining.

Ninth is a list of miscellaneous stuff that I found amusing or interesting:

The Queen of Awesome and I have decided to start eating healthier. We're calling our diet "Hot Babes Getting Hotter: You'll See Less of Us Soon."

While stocking supplies last week I stopped by third floor. I passed our new Supply Queen and told her "I'm here to steal your kleenex's." She paused and then said "All I could think of in response to that was 'blow me' but I didn't think it would be appropriate." I told her I would have given her a thumbs up.

Have done a plethora of exciting displays at work recently. Turned a triangle display into a turkey:

and then a snowman:

And then upstairs we had Movember - I stuck mustaches on books with faces on them -

and Readbox - made up of books that were turned into movies.

Election day came and went. My coworkers and I discussed how many people were running unopposed and my boss said that her daughter is a hardcore democrat so if there were any republicans running unopposed instead of voting for them she was going to write her mother's (aka my boss's) name in the box. I decided that was entertaining so I wrote her in for county sheriff. As that's basically what she does here.

A TAB member told me she learned how to parallel park from a video on Youtube. The problem? It was a British video so she had to learn how to do it backwards.

Got my hair dyed and one of the first people to notice was a security guard. Even before the boyfriend who has yet to say anything about it. It's darker red with blonde highlights. Working away from the fire engine red hair even though I miss it...But it was hilarious, the guard comes up to me, does a double-take and says, "you changed your hair." "yep." "it's red." "yep." "and short." "yep." "looks nice." then walks away.

The boyfriend and I finally watched Jersey Boys.

Was excellent, loved the music, though I fell asleep during part of it. Scale of Awesome says 7/10.

We also watched A Million Ways To Die in The West

It was interesting...had its moments though they were few and far between. People die at the fair. Cameo by Doc Brown. That's about it. Scale of Awesome says 5/10.

And There's Something About Mary

Another one of those movies that my brother and I would have left to get popcorn during the awkward parts. It's amusing that we're similar like that. I just can't sit there and watch when people are in awkward uncomfortable situations, it makes me cringe. If I'm by myself I will fast forward but if I'm with others I'll just leave. Scale of Awesome says 6/10.

And Old School

Interesting to see Ellen Pompeo in this one since I'm so used to her as Meredith. Like a flashback to her college tequila days or something. The boyfriend loved it. It had its moments. Scale of Awesome says 7/10.

Last is: The Voice

Finally we're to the finals. Here's where my top 20 stands.

Jean Kelley - Gwen - stolen by Pharrell – won knockout - eliminated in lives
Troy Ritchie - Gwen - won battle – lost in knockouts
Taylor Brashears - Blake - won battle – won knockout - eliminated in lives

Damien got eliminated but then brought back as the WILDCARD! Awesomeness! So not bad since I have 3 out of the 4 remaining. I would have all 4 but for some reason I switched out Craig Wayne Boyd from my top 20 even though his was only one of the few blind audition singles I actually bought.

Even though I'm happy for Damien I'm guessing either Craig or Matt will win. Most likely Matt, but maybe Craig. Right now I'm happy with whoever.

On to the music, here are my rec's for the week:

Uptown Funk - Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars

new theme song for the Queen of the Known Universe...fitting for our Hot Babes Hotter plan. love mark ronson. reminds me a bit of Ladies Night or James Brown.

Lips are Moving - Meghan Trainor

the more i hear from her the more i love her. she's more than all about that bass, honestly, look into her other stuff, it's fantastic. dear future husband, close your eyes, title, and now this. i'm stoked for the new album coming out soon!

in fact i think she has officially reached Current Top 5 Favorites status, bumping out Eminem cause I don't like his new stuff.

that puts us at:

1. Maroon 5
2. She & Him
3. Lily Allen
4. Karmin
5. Meghan Trainor

and guess what, SHE'S TOURING this spring!! so exciting. now if only Lily Allen were to come back to the US sometime soon....this time not as miley cyrus' opening act...honestly i would have gone to see her and then left before miley. she's too much of a wrecking ball for me.

Hanging Tree - Jennifer Lawrence

heard this in mockingjay and haven't stopped singing it since. totally haunting moment but complete momentum shift in the storyline.

God Only Knows - Matt McAndrew

was so excited since it's one of my favorite songs from my youth. he covered it very well.

i grew up on their music, and mr. tom and i listened to it many times while i was doing my practicum internship. lots of beach boys, eagles, and halloween music playing in the background, it was highly entertaining.

Back Home Baller - Saturday Night Live

i just have the "bowls, bowls, all type of bowls" part stuck in my head. driving me nuts but i love it!

Alright that's all I got. More soon. Already planning out my 12 Days of Christmas Music That Doesn't Suck - woohoo!

Who watches the Watchmen?

Huzzah for holiday weekends!

Mine was glorious, how about you?

Slept in Thursday, watched a bit of the parade, then picked up the boyfriend en route to Oldest Sister's place.

Food, fun, football, and frivolity. Plus a lot of family. It was fabulous.

Too many F's.

Anyway, ate a lot, watched some football, fell asleep for like 20 minutes, looked through ads, figured out stuff for Xmas list, ate some more, listened to some Elton, wrote out grad invitations - all of mine had to be approved since I kept screwing them up - then headed home.

That was Thursday. Today was filled with more relaxing. Yes I had today off too. I love City holidays.

Anyway, watched the Huskers lose - which sucked but maybe it's the push they need to fire Pelini, I know, I'm sorry if you're still a supporter - set up the trees - yay for good ones that don't make me want to burn them to the ground - and put up the stockings - we're in need of some new ones that actually match - and wrapped some presents - though not as good as my sister's do.

I'm not crafty, I can't wrap things all fancy, but everything is covered so I called it a victory.

After that stopped by the boyfriend's place and we watched Watchmen.

Saw much more of Malin Akerman than I ever wanted to but it wasn't a bad movie. Scale of Awesome says 5/10. The boyfriend seemed to love it. For the action. And effects. Not for her. I think.

That's all I got. Work tomorrow, off Sunday. Hoping to do some xmas shopping at some point.

On to the music.

I forgot how much I missed Lily Allen.

yes, i know it's like the 5th time i've posted that video but to be fair it has been at least a year so get over it.

She's definitely in my top 5 for favorite artists. I think it goes something like this:

Maroon 5
Karmin
She & Him
Lily Allen
Eminem

The Wreckers used to be in there but they got bumped down to number six since they haven't came out with anything lately.

And yes I know Eminem doesn't really fit with the rest of those artists. And my boyfriend hates him but I still love him so get over it.

"Did you see that? She wooed and high-fived me." "Are you sure she wasn't aiming for your head but your hand was in the way?"

My day started off with getting hit on.

Dude asked me to be his girlfriend, when I said I was already taken he offered to thumb-wrestle the boyfriend for me.

Um, no.

And then my day ended with a high five from a really excited patron cause I helped her find books at 5:59 PM.

We close at 6.

Awkward transactions all around, but I have tomorrow and Friday off so I'm stoked.

After working all day I headed out to see the boyfriend. We went to supper with his parents and then watched some - keyword some - Mystery Science Theater the Movie cause he fell asleep.

To be fair he works nights and stayed up all day so he could sleep tonight and act like a normal person tomorrow.

Which is sweet really since he's coming to my family's Thanksgiving.

Originally Thanksgiving was gonna be at Second Sister's but due to natural disasters we're moving it to Oldest Sister's.

Got Apples to Apples and other random board games in my trunk. Gonna rock.

Need to remember to stop and get a paper on the way there so we have ads to look through as is tradition.

That's all I got for today. Gonna crash.

Music: I sang At Last and Radioactive all day long. Seriously repeatedly driving me nuts. Random combination I'm aware, but it's my fault cause I bought them both - well, the Will Champlin versions.

Soo let's go with something else so that they can get out of my head

I Still Believe in You - Cole Vosbury

took me days to figure out that was a vince gill song. drove me nuts.

he's crazy good. cole not vince. never really been a fan of vince, is that just me?

legitimate pre-midnight post, holy crap tag in use.

"i ain't touching her heat button."

Ah, Thanksgiving.

Yet another family function filled with food, fun and frivolity.

Say that five times fast.

You can stop now.

Our family is pretty zen compared to others - well, at least the adults are. The kids on the other hand - there was a lot of running and screaming and video games and bingo while the rest of us were content to watch football, the Bond marathon, and look through all the ads in today's paper coming up with our own Christmas lists.

It's become this cheesy tradition and this year we all basically brought our own papers which made it even more entertaining.

Though last year's bicker and banter over who got to see what first was also amusing.

Add to that Second Sister's great app suggestion - Christmas List Pro - in which you can keep track of the people you're buying for, what you got them and how much you spent. There's more if you pay for the premium version but really that's all I needed. Got a lot of good ideas from today but the problem with me is that lately I have no idea what I want.

Book shelves and luggage is all I can come up with, and really, neither of those screams a good time.

Practical yes, party no.

Not that I'm a big party girl like at all really.

But you gotta have some fun stuff too and before that pretty much all I got was fun stuff. Video gaming systems, movies, CD's, computers, signed Charmed scripts, etc. Now I'm old and am boring apparently because before I was able to list off 5 movies that I wanted or video games that had just came out.

Right now all I got is luggage and book shelves.

And then of course my yearly Santa requests...

An endless supply of Diet Dr. Pepper...

A litter box that cleans itself...

yeah know, just the basics.

But not knowing makes it hard for people to buy for me cause I'm not able to give them suggestions, SO! Within the next week I'm gonna be searching ads and online trying to find good fun stuff.

And if you see something you think I'd like send me a note.

Where was I before this tangent?

Oh right, Thanksgiving stories.

Made some interesting memories tonight, slept in 'til 10:30. Woke up and turned on the parade - about thirty seconds later Second Sister called asking what I was doing so I was able to say "watching the parade" instead of saying "shutup i'm sleeping it's my vacation" isn't that nice?

Oldest and Second Sister's families arrived first, then I went to pick up the great aunt but kept getting phone calls about stuff I needed to pick up while in town. The lady at the counter kept laughing at me cause I kept coming back and trying to balance ice, chips and a paper. And listening to my ringtone for when my mother calls.

Let's just say it's highly entertaining, but awkward in social situations when you don't know the people around you.

So I picked her up and successfully jammed the walker into my backseat - always entertaining - then came home so we could eat. We jammed out, watched the Lions lose in overtime - what the hell is up with Suh? You know, when he was here in Nebraska he was the hero, he was awesome. Now he just has some serious anger issues.

The great aunt played bingo with the kiddos and apparently won all the games. Though I laughed cause they were playing with apple jacks as the markers.

This was sometime after the siblings had taken of the couches/chairs in the living room and had ads spread all over the place. But I found Squirt some cool Yoda slippers and Bek a giant stuffed rainbow unicorn plus came up with some other ideas as well. We had Bond on in the background later on - Goldeneye then something else, we weren't paying too much attention to the second one. I just remember it had Teri Hatcher in it.

But then we got distracted ate supper and played pitch instead. Dad and Oldest Sister challenged Bubby and I. They won the first set by a lot, we edged them out in the second set and then SHOT THE MOON and won the third.

I had AKQ962 in diamonds somehow majestically before the deck so I passed that on to Bubby. We dominated.

Oh and big Joe made a house out of dominoes it was pretty cool.

And then everyone took off around 8ish.

The boyfriend spent today home with the flu. I know, I was totally sad but I think he was content to lay on the couch and watch TV. I told BossLady I should have introduced them because she wants to catch the flu. Apparently she enjoys being sick and spending time on the couch. It can be relaxing but I'll pass on all the symptoms, thanks.

Actually she's not the first one who wants to meet him. Around work he's known as "the boy" "the boyfriend" or "the yorkster" which I enjoy. I was told to bring him to work some time though I'm not sure I want to subject him to the Spanish Inquisition from some of the more protective ones. I quite like this one, you can scare the other creepers away.

All in all it was a pretty great day except for the missing boyfriend part. Told some humorous stories, my favorite I'll get in trouble for posting but I'm going to anyway cause I'm still laughing was when Mom first got the new mower - and it's one of those massive riding mowers so very different than our previous one - she hit the pickup and she came inside and told my brother to move the pickup and "while you're at it, pick up the mailbox too."

Needless to say I did a lot of the mowing from then on.

The title is a quote from my brother. Mom has this fake fireplace unit inside our actual fireplace - bizarre but effective - and it has these lights that look like an actual fire but it's also a space heater. My brother was complaining it wasn't doing its job so I told him he needed to hit the heat button. He refused.

After all that Mom and I jammed out on the couch and watched that Michael Jackson documentary Bad 25, it was interesting. Totally didn't know Sheryl Crow sang backup to him on tour and that Annie are you okay was a reference to a CPR dummy. Totally makes the song different after hearing that.

apparently he made "short films" not video. cool to see the influence tie-ins now that I know what to look for.  though i still have no idea how they did 7:14.

even though that is a classic the version i grew up with is this one:

love the sidewalk.

sleeping in tomorrow then watching the husker game while putting up the trees, woohoo!

"I'm gonna need some bail money."

Okay. So I got a speeding ticket. Yes, I'm aware. But, now, apparently, everyone else is as well. But as least I called and told them about it after it happened. It could have been worse. I wasn't calling from behind bars or something. My one phone call. Asking for bail money. Thanks for that Second Sister. The lot of you really. You're all so supportive. The second I walk through the door. Seriously.

So, Thanksgiving. A time for food, family, and sarcasm galore. There wasn't as much this year since there was no Apples to Apples involved. There was however a lot of card playing.

Some really really and let me add another really bad pinochle playing on my part. Joe sat by me trying to pick up the game and I had to say, "Well, here's how you lose." But, just to say, we were 87 in the hole at one point and still finished with a positive 40 something. So that could have been worse as well. Got a double marriage and a double pinochle and a run in one hand and I think we scored about 80 on that one alone. But that was my only good hand the whole night.

I did win one game though, when I was paired with Dad. Which is weird, I mean it's not cause he's good, but Teina and I usually rock when we're paired up. But that was a while ago when we were last paired. This year we got owned. On multiple occasions. But crappy cards man. Geez. One good hand means getting set every other one. Yikes. I should have just stopped bidding altogether.

I haven't played that game in literally years. Which is weird, because we use to play it all the time and I mean all the time. We never played pitch. It was always pinochle. But when we're with extended family it's pitch because it's easier. And faster.

Other than card playing there was a lot of food, yes, but there was also a mass amount of laziness. About an hour of sitting on the couch, watching Suh get thrown out, smooth move dude, and going through the ads. It was funny cause we were out in the living room on the awesome new furniture, Sarah on the end, then Cindy then Mandy, Me then Teina and Mark on the floor and we would just pass the ads down the couch basically. All with paper and pens coming up with Christmas lists.

Second Sister wants me to get her one of those emergency tool things so if your car goes under water you can slice your seatbelt and hammer your way out of your window. Cause apparently you're trapped. They saw it on Mythbusters. And she drives over mass amounts of water daily. Not. But she's pregnant and hormonal so I shall do as she asks.

And they always ask if we're doing a big Christmas, aka are we buying presents for the siblings? And I do. Cause I like Christmas. They don't have to buy lots of stuff if they don't want to, but I'm going to. Cause I like it. and I have this awesome catalog of random stuff - similar to a Sky Mall if you've flown and browsed through that - and yeah, there's gonna be a lot of random gifts this year. I'm thinking Everts Christmas gag gift stuff. Primo collector edition.

And of course, everything I was repulsed with I talked about and they all claimed they were going to buy it for me. But really, why would you need a fake plastic person who's actually a tape dispenser but is sitting on a toilet with a pen in his mouth and paper clips coming out of his butt? Is that repulsive to anyone else? Who wants that sitting on their desk? Seriously. I'm gonna have to find a picture of that, cause I really can't describe it any better than that. I'd rather just have a coffee cup filled with pens and tape.

Here, go here: Creepy Plastic Person

It freaked me out.

Even more than the 100 dollar bill toilet paper. It doesn't cost 100 dollars, it's an actual (fake) 100 dollar bill on a roll.

or the kind that glows in the dark. WHY?!

Good god.

I did, however, find something fantastic for The Cool Aunt. which I guess I can't mention cause she reads this. So she'll just have to be excited for things that fly. and that's all I'm saying.

Speaking of Everts Family Christmas. We have this baby. It's plastic. and Ugly. and Dances. Supposedly. But it's still in the box so really it only sways side-to-side and it's been a gag gift for years. Literally. and it just keeps getting passed back and forth. and I have a problem. Because I'm pretty sure that I have it. and that means I have to find it. So it's either in the boxes in my apartment, or the boxes in my closet here at the farmhouse. or in the abyss that's the basement. Hmmm... I'll check tomorrow.

Okay, so other than cards, trail mix, ads, football, napping, mass amounts of food, drinking chocolate wine, and watching children run wild, there was a lot of talking. and some good quotes. Though there are really none of them that I can repeat. Other than the ones I've already explained.

I did enjoy our 20 minute conversation about the Dougie dance. If you have no idea to what I'm referring to skip to the bottom and watch the video. We want to change it to "Teach me how to Teina". We watched the video and she said she does most of the moves so we could change the name and add a few more moves. and Mark can do the cabbage patch in the background.

Alright. Music Rec's I think we're to the E's.

And due to good timing you get a family classic:

"Evil Woman" Electric Light Orchestra

used to dance and sing this when i was little tiny. and we taught it to Squirt and Bubby when they were little tiny.
"there's an open road that leads no where, so just make some miles between here and there"
hahahahaha, oh my god. one of the comments on the youtube page is a dedication.
"I'd like to dedicate this song to my ex, Sheila.
Sheila, if you are reading this, rot in hell.
Love, Mark
:D
"
fantastic.

"Everywhere" Michelle Branch

a big one from college. good god she looks young.
yes i know this is the second one of hers i've used for the alphabet rec's and we're only to the E's but get used to it, cause she rocks. and technically that was The Wreckers. just cause she's one of the lead singers in the band...

Big day tomorrow. New phone on the morning, means I had to go through my current phone tonight typing up all my notes cause they won't save to my media card. Do you know how long it takes to type up 479 notes? I skipped half. Didn't even upload any of the dream log. Cause dude. That's soooo much more. But the pictures and ringtones and all that are good to go. I'm hoping they'd just be able to transfer all that stuff - like contact numbers and stuff - to the new phone but I'm guessing it doesn't work with the notes. Hence the typing.

I did find a few more life mottos that I forgot to mention in the One Year post.

-"One minute I'm sane, the next two I'm crazy" think that came from a dream
-"Put it in the microwave and pour it over chips" that's a Magic Bullet direct quote but I like to use it out of context, it's more fun that way
-"It's a worthless guide to an epic ride" which is kind of a disclaimer to this blog
-"We won't judge you. We may slow clap you, but we won't judge you." camp quote, that was one of mine when we went bowling, works well in life events

Okay, will consider transferring more depending on how tired I am after this post.

After the new phone tomorrow is the Huskers game. First annual Heroes Game, trophy included. It's a "revivalry" really. I enjoy that word.

And then I get to set up the trees - yes I did buy them a new one and I'm stoked - and decorate the house. My favorite thing to do for Xmas, aside from the whole Xmas day proceedings. It's cool to have all the lights up and all that. I'm excited.

So, big day. I'm out.

Happy Thanksgiving!

And you're the only one...who...MEOW!

So, after spending hours alone with my cat in a car I realized a few things. One, that drive was a lot longer than I remember it, and two, my cat hates the following musical artists: Michael Buble, Elton John, Outkast, Billy Joel, The Midnight Beast and virtually every song from the Rocky Horror soundtrack. But, he loves the Glee soundtrack. Like, he meowed constantly and loudly for everything but Rachel Berry and Finn Hudson. I was shocked.

Today was a good day. I ate good food, I watched the Huskers beat Colorado (big twelve championship here we come!), I saw my aunt and uncle, I attempted to sign up for grad school classes but failed - something is wrong with my account - annnnd.... I got my new car! Hooray! It's red and shiny. But now I'm paranoid because I have to work downtown and that's not the safest area. So time will tell, I guess. I'll just have to get used to it. But I'm super excited because, since this is Nebraska and it is freezing now, it has this remote start feature so I can turn it on from my apartment and it will be warm by the time I get there. Hooray!

I was sad though, because I had to clean out my old car cause they're selling it to a friend. It was a good car. I've driven it since high school. I liked it. It wasn't new, but it was my car! Maggie... now I have to name the new one. I'll need some time to think about that.

Right now I'm watching Alias season one. I suck at this whole watching library dvd's because I get distracted with my own. Oh well, I'll finish Dr. Who next week.

Hope you all had a happy holiday.

"Spontaneous Combustion is pretty awesome, unless it happens to you."

Okay, today was just fun, not surprisingly. I love my family. But today was just funny fun. We went to my sister's for Thanksgiving and had amazing food. Then we played Apples to Apples for four hours. Not kidding. We played until we ran out of red cards. It was ridiculous. But hilarious. The title is one of the many one-liners that came from it. It fits right in with the others - "I always win soft" (my sister) "Bull fights? Really?" (sister-in-law) "Nothing more casual than having a baby" (brother-in-law) "Charming is the part you play in our friendship" (my sister to my sister-in-law trying to win her way with a create your own card. She laughed so hard she cried. Then my brother was like, "you might be the first one to lose with a create your own card!")
Plus the card combinations were funny. My mother, MY MOTHER! threw me "angry hornets" when I laid down "elitist" then there was "calm" which I picked "creamed corn" cause I mean, what's more calm than that? Unless of course it's "in a coma" which won the "relaxing" card. We're awful. But it's just funny stuff. And then there's the fact that my mom kept calling it "apples to oranges" and learned that that was not, in fact, it's name when my aunt texted her back and asked, "Is that anything like apples to apples?"
Long story short, it was fun and we were crazy. Who plays apples to apples for four hours? Seriously? Are we mental? No, we were just having fun. And even mom lasted about 3 hours before she gave in. The final tally ended with my brother and sister tying with 24, my niece getting 18, and then myself, my brother-in-law and my sister-in-law pulling in 17.

After that it was driving home and talking more about the car I still haven't picked out. Actually, I have it picked out already but they want me to keep looking. It's not like it was the first car I looked at or something. I know what kind of stuff I'm looking for. But whatever. I'm going with it. As long as it happens before Christmas I'm fine with it.

Hope you all had a happy Thanksgiving.

"The word is explosive. Choices are: hot lava, nice. atomic bombs, wow. electricity, yeah....bubble gum? what?!" (sister-in-law)

Sketch and Edit Cook a Turkey
E – “Aw, poor G. This will only hurt for a minute!”
S – “G?”
E – “Short for ‘Gobbler.’”
S – “He’s already dead, you know that right?”
E – “Hey, I would want someone to commentate my afterlife. It would be boring to just lay there not knowing what’s going on.”
S – “You would want to hear about someone cooking you very slowly?”
E – “Okay, no. I think I just became a vegetarian. Karma’s totally gonna come back and bite me in the ass for this.” *silence* “We need a code word.”
S – “For what?”
E – “I don’t know, it just seems like something we should have. Like a panic word.”
S – “We already have ‘the code.’”
E – “‘The code’ consists of hitting a bunch of nonsensical characters on a phone keyboard in a text message sent so the receiver knows to call so the sender can get away from their stalker exes or possible future exes.”
S – “So what’s the difference?”
E – “You can’t use that code in person. It would look like you’re having a seizure… ‘alkwekcselsfi6634lkanskjdf7’ …. ‘Huh? Should I call the medic?’ … ‘No I was trying to tell you there’s a psychokiller standing behind you.’”
S – “Why couldn’t you just say ‘there’s a psychokiller standing behind you’?”
E – “Because that would alert the psychokiller that we know they’re a psychokiller and that we were on to them which would make us viable targets for them to stab!” *motions with knife*
S – “Would you put down the dagger please, before you hurt one of us.”
E – “Sorry, I was deep in it.”
S – “So… code word…”
E – “Code word.”
S – “For psychokillers…”
E – “And crazy exes who might potentially become psychokillers…”
S – “You do know how many people are on that list now, right?”
E – “Just because I have more exes than I do years in my life doesn’t make me a bad person!”
S – “Yeah, just keep telling yourself that.”
E – “What about ‘bananas’?”
S – “No, because you’re constantly using the phrase ‘driving me bananas’ and I would just get confused.”
E – “Right. ‘Pineapple’?”
S – “What’s with the fruit? Shouldn’t a code word be inconspicuous?”
E – “Pineapple is inconspicuous.”
S – “Not if you’re standing somewhere in the middle of winter surrounded by people. Yelling that would just draw attention.”
E – “Okay, so not fruit.”
S – “Pookie.”
E – “No, that would just make me want to smack you… or let the psychokiller get you.”
S – “Awww, mean. You’d think a future-librarian could think of a better code word reference.”
E – “Kilgore Trout?”
S – “I’ll get back to you on that.”

happy thanksgiving!
