Big Husker victory tonight against Michigan, woohoo!
Brett Maher is back in action, redeeming himself for those previous missed field goals. Must have had Wheaties for breakfast.
Our defense really stepped it up, especially in the second half causing a lot of turnovers.
I watched the game with the boyfriend. We went out for half of it - steak and shrimp was great - and stayed in for the rest. I attempted to not yell at the TV as often as I do on my own or with my family.
Though I'm not quite as bad as my brother, but I explained that last week.
Anyway, glad to have a win since they were our last rated opponent and now we're at the top of the Legends Division of the Big 10. Next up Michigan State @ Michigan State. Should be interesting.
The game/dinner with the boyfriend came at the end of what was a pretty uneventful Saturday at the library. I checked my work mail this morning and saw like 6 new incident reports from yesterday alone, and since it was a home game I was expecting more, but the most rowdy the library got was when this one did wanted to talk to my supervisor about some expired hold fees.
And then he was fine.
I did fill out a program planning sheet and come up with a flyer for an upcoming TAB event. We're hopefully going to do some fun stuff with the community in a couple weeks, but we'll see what The Powers That Be have to say about it. Fingers crossed as my kids are excited about it - totally their idea - more on that later.
I did get to work twice with my Trainee which was fun as we never get scheduled together, and twice with BossLady who again dissed my shoe choice.
I LIKE THESE SHOES. I don't care that they're falling apart and their laces don't stay tied. I cut them twice already. But now there is a giant hole - well, in both of them - but in one especially to the point where my sole sticks out of the side and if I were to step in a puddle I'd be screwed. As Oldest Sister once told me, "I'm not going to stop praying for rain just because your feet are gonna get wet."
But I wore the last pair - the same brand and style but blue instead of grey - until they fell apart completely.
I have this weird quirk where I own a lot of shoes because I like shoes. Yet I wear the exact same pair every day until they die horrible deaths. I drag my feet which kills the bottoms of the shoes and the backs of them since they're rubbing against my heel. It always ends the same no matter what the brand or style - with holes in padding in the back and uneven soles due to the dragging, plus some tearing along the stitching.
I have no idea where I'm going with this or how I got here in the first place. Let me scroll up.
Oh right, so yes, BossLady made fun of my shoes SO I'm pulling out the duct tape! Just for survival sake.
And though I will no longer be able to wear them to work - while good conversation starters they wouldn't be very professional looking - I will still be able to wear them to things like church softball, and around the farm.
Shoes.
Shoes.
Shoes.
Oh my god, shoes.
Liam Kyle Sullivan.
Whoa. Flashbacks to Youtube hits from the high school era.
I'd post it but it's wildly inappropriate.
Though I'm guessing anyone my age that's reading this knows exactly the video I'm referring to.
So I will instead direct you to this one as the song has been stuck in my head since listening to it this afternoon.
Even though I attempted to drown it out with two hours of Carrie Fisher's "Shockaholic" aka 1 disc on the way to the boyfriend's and 1 disc on the way back with 2 discs remaining. More on that later.
Drops of Jupiter - Train
That's right, a freeze-dried romance.
Look it up.
I could write a blog. I have thoughts.

but you don't worry, you don't worry, cause you got soul.
"I'm not gonna stop praying for rain because your feet are gonna get wet."
So, I have this thing about routines.
Go to the same place for lunch, usually order the same thing, wear the same style of clothes - own the same shirt in like 8 colors, wear the same shoes until they're totally busted.
My previous shoes were blue and comfortable, but I stepped on the back to take them off - I don't untie them intentionally though they tend to untie themselves during the day - and the back ripped open and eventually ripped the sides.
So I bought the same shoes, different color.
Now it's backward, sides are ripped and headed to the back.
It would be a problem except there's been no rain, just heat, heat, and more heat.
BossLady says duct tape.
Think I'll keep them 'til they split more and then transfer to my red ones. Which I actually wear frequently as well but I figure I'll wear these until they burst and then make those permanent.
Today was interesting, Mom showed up freaked because they stole her eagle.
Basically there used to be this gianormous eagle on the building across the street but then the bank it was attached to got a new location and it took it with them even though it had nothing to do with the bank in the first place.
Anyway, with all the one way streets it's a little hard to find the building so you gotta use your landmarks. Since they took that away I guess she'll finally have to learn the real address.
She brought me a dress.
Again.
I'm starting to take the hint, though I did tell Tweet I'd wear a dress to his wedding. After he asked. But then again the boyfriend is in it so I have to be semi-dressed up.
What else from today?
Oh yeah, I'm building a website for my teens. Figured it'd be a cool way to communicate with TAB kids and those interested. Got some slideshows, calendar, forms and all that - work in progress and of course I gotta get it cleared before it's published. Kinda fun actually. Not that I'm not already swamped and all that, but it's been a fairly slow week. Only thing I'm behind on at work is the booklist and that doesn't have a due date. Besides, just some formatting left.
Same with the editing, halfway thru my second readthru then I can send it back and work some more on the other. After that it's school central. Got my first classes this weekend.
Was a good night, hit up a saltdogs game with oldest sister. We got hosed, unfortunately, but it was still fun. We have this thing about obnoxious fans though, like the ones that yell. I kind of just want to turn around and say, "go out there and show us how you'd do it better" but I'm doubting they would. We wonder if they used to play so they think they know something but were never good enough to do anything about it.
Cause those are the worst ones.
Alright, I'm off.

I got chills, they're multiplying....
It's Musical Monday. You've been warned.
C'mon, it's better than Mourning Monday? Right? Well, for most people.
Fearless Leader holding up a copy of Legally Blonde the musical: "THIS! Is why I HATE musicals!"
It should be Manic Monday. or Manic Monday Morning at least. Slept through my alarm, then Carter had issues, and then my shoe finally broke as I attempted to run down the stairs. You think they'd notice if I duct-taped it back together and wore it anyway? I freaking liked that pair of shoes, dangit! Now I'm stuck with my half-laced, covered in gravel, black shoes. Not that I don't have other options. But I'm too lazy to go and get them out of my closet.
Summer Nights
love 1:40. that was always my favorite. but john travolta's dance moves and high notes make the movie. seriously.
So, shelved for four hours today. We scanned all the paperbacks as the haven't been scanned since February and I'm sick of seeing "4/27" on the Last Seen Date when I'm running lists. This way if it says "9/19" I'll know I need to keep looking. With 4/27 it's usually 70/30 that it's not there.
After all that fun I came home and took a nap. And it was fantastic. Watched some SVU, and after watching depressing case after depressing case I had to switch it up with some musical clips.
"You're the One that I Want"
niiiice. more dancing greatness.
Aaannnnd, the awesomeness that is Castle came back tonight for season four. Crazy that it's been four years. I've been with it since the start. And...I ain't saying that I was right....but read this My Life in Closed Captions: *Spoiler Alert* ....and without giving away too many spoilers I can say....I wasn't wrong. About Castle. The other shows haven't aired yet. And what's with Bones not coming back until November? Was that an Emily's pregnant so we need more time kind of thing? Oh well, it'll be worth it.
"We Go Together"
i want a flying car. just hope they didn't end up in the womping willow. we know what happened to that flying car....well, actually, i guess we don't. cause it crashed. but then it came alive again to save them from spiders, but then it disappeared again. probably buried somewhere in the forbidden forest.
Tomorrow is split shift which means, running errands, cleaning apartment, watching more SVU, oh and working. twice. Which is going to happen more and more in the future. It's amusing because I'm only 20 hours and I'm technically not supposed to work at that branch, but I still work more nights there than the 40 hours do. Except Joe Studley. I think I actually get to work a night with Joe Studley again. AND THE QUEEN OF AWESOME! I'm stoked! Until she leaves me to have her baby. Which, I guess, is allowed. Not that I'm complaining about the night shifts. I'm actually ecstatic! I get to sleep in! My screams of joy almost lost me points, but we were in the backroom so it didn't count.
Summer Nights 2010 cast reunion at the DVD release party
"we're going to attempt summer nights" haha nice. still got it.
I'm out! for more SVU.

This is a song about loooooove....
Halfday that felt a bit like a wholeday in the beginning but I think that's because I chose a fruit smoothie over coffee this morning. Madness. Falling asleep while walking meant dragging my feet again, dang. I was making such progress on the whole don't-drag-your-feet-you're-killing-your-shoes thing. Not really. Sometimes I just catch myself cause I hear the dragging so I try walking like a normal person until I zone out and do it again.
As there is not much to talk about today, aside from shelving, scanning YA stuff, doing laundry and dishes I won't bore you completely with more rambling.
So, moving on.
Here's a fun clip I found and I'm posting it because I think it's funny.
This is Charlie who was challenged to write/record a song using only his voice and household items as instruments. Pretty creative - I love the Doctor Who police box. Tardis! I've been a fan of his for a while but I'm posting this now since Valentine's Day is like soon so it sounded fitting. The other videos on his channel are pretty funny as well - lots of "Challenge Charlie"s and songs and stuff. You should check it out.
"Thus the basis of its appeal!" name that Julia Stiles reference that for some reason is in my head and makes me really want to watch that movie...

New Shoes, the Cheese Speech, Warped Tour and MXPX
So I felt like a total dork today - and yesterday - cause I got these new shoes and I like them. So I'm trying not to drag my feet and ruin them.
Which is awful and hard and ridiculous.
It's ridiculous that it's this hard to walk like a normal person.
But I have to start because it kills my shoes and my jeans. The backs break open inside the shoe so there's big holes and the bottoms get worn off of the backs like my jeans. Then my sister looks at them and says we have to go shopping and I totally don't like clothes shopping cause people make me try things on.
So, less dragging feet = less damage to shoes and jeans which also = less time in an awkward dressing room while there are people outside waiting to critique me.
But I feel like everyone is watching me walk like I'm this weird awkward weirdo.
It took me two minutes to come up with another word that could come after 'awkward' and got nothing. So W.A.W. it is. I like it.
But I can change. I am right now - eating eggs and toast for supper, I used to hate eggs. I still do. But I'm eating them anyway. Maybe it's just cheesy eggs that I can't eat. But that's because I don't like cheese. But I do like cheese.
Crap.
Are you following any of this?
Does that mean I have to give you the speech? I did say there was a speech attached to that one in my first post. See My Life in Closed Captions: *Insert Clever Title Here*
I could go on for probably half an hour because that's the length of my average ramble so I'll give you the short version.
I like cheese but I don't like cheese.
Melted cheese is disgusting but I love grilled cheese sandwiches.
But only if they're dipped in tomato soup.
I like regular cheese on like crackers and stuff so maybe it's just the melted that gets to me. It's like goo. I don't like cheesy eggs but that's probably because I don't like eggs... Which apparently now I do.
But I really don't.
Only if they're with toast.
Or like in a cake or something.
Like that Guy dude from the Food Network.
That's the short version, I'll stop there.
I'm also mourning the loss of my awesome black Warped bag.
The strap broke so it's been bring-your-backpack-to-work day. And probably will be again tomorrow.
I don't do purses. No. Messenger bag all the way. I've had it since '05. I got it in Denver at Warped Tour. My oldest sister says that no matter if she sews it it will bust again. So I'll send it home with Mom to have her look at it.
6 years man.
That's a serious relationship.
I can't just give up on it completely and jump in with a new bag. That's not right.
So, in honor of the bag's memory and possible reinstatement if fixable I'm posting this picture.

Commemorating its origin and the fun I had with my friends while hanging out with cute drummers, getting overloaded with free stuff, and listening to Billy Idol (yes I saw him live), My Chemical Romance (yes I saw them live), Hawthorne Heights, Simple Plan and the whole reason I got the bag - MXPX - which was branded awesomely on the cover.
I don't want to get emotional.
*fake tears*
It was just a bag.
It was just a bag.
But really, it wasn't just a bag. I still have the stuff I got from Warped in the back pocket - stickers, flyers, even a map of Denver for a certain friend who got lost on the way of meeting me there.
That is definitely on my list of favorite things I've ever done.
That'd be an interesting blog post - favorite life moments...hmmmm...later maybe.
Anyway, I love MXPX. "Panic" is their best cd - in my mind anyway. "Wrecking Hotel Rooms" was in my ipod on repeat for months. The lyrics to the verses are ridiculous but the chorus is awesome and has a good melody - which is the epitamy of punk rock really. The lyrics don't make sense but it sounds cool. So you go with it. Haha.
They have a website...ooo, I see new merchandise in my future. Maybe a new bag. It won't be the same but it will have to do.
Aaaannnd she's out. For the night. More tomorrow, have a good one.
