Some people bring spare parts, Popper Boy brings spare cars...

Have lots to post about so I’ll attempt to do them in order.

4th of July is my favorite holiday. Though when my sister told that to my nephew his quick-witted response was "you like it more than Jesus' birth?!"

Did I mention he's only a 3rd grader?

Anyway, for the 4th - my family goes all out. Even my dad gets into it with his lanterns and cherry bombs.

Don’t ask. There’s a lot of family legends involving those particular fireworks.

Anyway, we did tons of parachutes, sparklers, fountains, artillery shells, snakes, crackling balls, and ground blooms and yet I still have leftovers. Except for smoke bombs I’m out of those. Turns out my godson and niece are pyros and blew through two boxes in a single afternoon.

Not bags.

Boxes of those bags.

Apparently they take after me. Even Bex never matches her socks, I’m so proud.

Anyway, after all the gunpowder and glory – and I say glory because one of the neighbors set off a huge firework down the street and my nephew's quick-witted response (yes, same nephew) was “That sounds like glory!” – I had an interesting journey back to my apartment.

So imagine this, you’re driving down the interstate. It’s like 11:00 PM. Pitch dark. You see two trucks in a row going slow and decide to pass them. Mid-pass of the back truck you look over and see a turn signal flashing. Suddenly said truck is pulling into your lane.

That was my adventure on the way home from fireworks. Needless to say I swerved into the median to avoid him, then swerved back to avoid a reflector pole.

So maybe those Defensive Driving courses (aka the 2 STOP classes I’ve taken) were actually worth something.

Had to call the boyfriend at work who then made me get it checked out the next day. Thankfully there was just some grass and mud underneath so they didn’t even charge me. Though it did make me hesitant to drive for a while.

After the 4th came our Motorcar Adventure in Centerville, Iowa. It was supposed to rain all weekend but somehow it contained itself and only ended up pouring Saturday night after we were done.

The boyfriend doesn’t have air conditioning in his box van so we left early Friday. Ended up riding Friday night, then most of the day Saturday and again Sunday morning and afternoon.

It was a lot of fun. Minus the heat that is. 85 degrees may not sound so bad when compared to 90’s, however when you’re out in the sun with no shade or breeze it gets hot fast. Thankfully when we were moving you didn’t notice.

For some reason something always goes wrong when I’m riding with him and his car started acting up. Luckily he had a second in the van so we switched them out. And then got crap for it.

According to his motorcar buddies, apparently, “some people bring spare parts, Popper Boy brings spare cars.”

Don’t ask about the nickname. It’s a long story. And it's spread. I'm apparently now Popper Gal. Or Popper Girl. I get to choose.

I was bummed because one of his buddies didn’t make it there. Actually I think that’s the one that so lovingly dubbed his as Popper Boy. He’s the one making us plan our wedding around his schedule.

Jokingly. I hope.

After the ride this guy sent the boyfriend a picture of a billboard for a jewelry company. It had a picture of a ring with the subtitle: Your Girlfriend Wants Me.

I told him I approved.

Anyway, here are a few pictures of our Motorcar Excursion.

and of the lineup

Yay for panoramas.

After all that fun the boyfriend and I hit up the Paul McCartney concert. We’re both huge Beatles fans and even though it was semi-expensive (although really not all that bad) we figured 1. He’s getting older and how many more tours is he going to go on. 2. He’s not from the states. And 3. When is he going to come here again? Chicago or Denver perhaps but not here. So we went for it.

It was excellent. He played for 2 and a half hours before taking a break. Not bad for a 72-year-old, who by the way, still doesn’t look a day over 50. He had an excellent lineup including his Beatles stuff, his Wings stuff, and a bit of his New stuff. He joked he can tell which songs people want to hear because when the classics start playing all the cameras go up but when the new stuff starts playing they go back down.

After playing for that long he came back for not one, but two encores saying something to the effect of, “you know I have to go home sometime…” But he was excellent, lots of Husker and Nebraska references which were amusing. Played most of my favorite songs, and the boyfriend and I really enjoyed it.

Here are some of my favorite pictures from that:

On to the music:

Gotta go with Paul on this one.

Silly Love Songs - Paul McCartney & Wings

The boyfriend was disappointed cause apparently this is his favorite McCartney song. I told him it could be our first dance song, but he’s stuck on that stalker song by The Police and envisions our wedding party following us around with binoculars and cameras. Which would actually be highly entertaining.

For those of you who have no idea what I’m talking about try actually listening to the lyrics to this song:

Every Breath You Take – The Police

Back to the actual Rec’s

Yesterday - The Beatles

He waited 'til the encores to play that one so we knew he was coming back...

Extended Rec’s

Whilst motorcarring I had my own playlist on repeat that consisted of a ton of Lily Allen. I bought her new album before we left. Here's my favorite from the new album:

As Long As I Got You - Lily Allen

Love it.

I was so proud the boyfriend actually knew who she was. Or one of her songs at least. It’s kind of a big deal to me as she holds the number three spot on my list of favorite artists of all time and no one here knows her. For those of you wondering it goes:

1. Maroon 5
2. She & Him
3. Lily Allen
4. The Wreckers
5. Eminem

Yes, I’m aware it’s a random lineup.

But if you were to change it to current radio it would become:

1. Maroon 5
2. She & Him
3. Lily Allen
4. Karmin
5. Is up for debate. Maybe Cassadee Pope.

Because The Wreckers haven't come up with anything since I was in college and I don't like Em's new stuff.

Sorry.

Have you heard Weird Al’s new song Word Crimes? I feel like it could be my new theme song.

Only online for a week and it's almost at 10 million views...

Alright, that’s all I got. Next up will be camp stuff which always comes with lots of stories to post about. Hope you have a rockin’ week.

Stick it in your pointy ear.

Okay first up, watch this:

If you haven't already.

Craziness.

Today was good. Slept in, went to church then out to eat with Oldest Sister and family. Watched Bubby play some basketball, did a ton of Xmas shopping - almost done, not really - then headed out to see the boyfriend for dinner and a movie.

Star Wars 6. Classic.

The boyfriend thinks it's weird I get my groceries at Target. But it's one-stop shopping! Where do you get yours? Don't say. HyVee. I have yet to run into any helpful smiles in those aisle. Or at least the one in my neighborhood. And I can never find anything. In Target I know exactly where everything is.

Actually proud of myself for being productive with the shopping. Finished with Mom, Squirt, and most of Second Sister and brother's families. Others I have no clue where to start. But I'll keep looking.

In honor of Star Wars tonight's music selections are some of my favorite parodies.

Yes 2 of which are Weird Al, but who does parodies better than Weird Al?

The Saga Begins

awesome.

Yoda

amusing.

Call Me Maybe

EPIC.

Obi-Wan's "maybe" gets me every time.

I guess technically a parody but I'm going with it.

cause i had my tray table up and my seat back in the full upright position...

So I'm engaged.

Well, that's what I told a creepy stalker today.

Yes, Sketch, I could hear your "What?!" all the way from Illinois.

It's the newest of the stalkers that I mentioned a few posts ago. He saw the ring and asked and since I feel like he's hitting on me constantly I said I was engaged thinking he would stop but then he started talking about rings and how he got a cheap one for his ex-boyfriend.

So guess I was safe anyway.

But the fiance thing was already out there and there's no real way to take it back aside from saying, I lied cause you were creeping me out.

Tomorrow I'm heading out to a friend's dress rehearsal meaning I have to leave straight from work meaning I have to actually dress up dress up tomorrow. Though not a dress. I promised him I'd wear one for his wedding but didn't mention anything about the rehearsal. And the boyfriend is in it which is why I'm going to the dinner which should be fun. I'm stoked, I love going to friend's weddings to see who's in them and see people and dance the night away.

Took a while to pack and now that I have all these dresses that Mom keeps bringing me and Oldest Sister keeps taking me shopping for I don't know which one to wear. So I'm taking like three and I'll have Smo pick. She picked which one I wore to the last NELHS wedding. Which was more like a NELHS reunion cause both bride and groom went there.

Today was pretty uneventful aside from my own personal drama. Which was stupid in the first place. And my boyfriend is wonderful and puts up with everything.

2 people called in and then 1 more went home sick. Which doesn't bode well for the rest of us.

Finished all my homework for the week. Which was a quiz, IT in libraries paper, and community analysis aka demographic study. It didn't take as long as I thought it would and I literally did a victory dance after posting them.

Albuquerque - Weird Al
i was off by three but i still won the grand prize...

Cool video for someone that's not the performing artist. But I keep spelling the title wrong.

I remember we listened to this when we were driving through Albuquerque on our way to California.

The song lasted longer than our drive through the town.

I miss those cousin vacations. We keep saying we should go to Vegas but then get busy and it goes on the back burner. Probably won't happen until after I finish grad school and all that. Which actually isn't that far away. December of 2013 I think. Should start a countdown.

Okay, I really should crash as it's almost 1 and tomorrow will be crazy. And Saturday. Which means I should sleep when I can.

And I wouldn't be surprised if this was my last post for the next few days. Receptions tend to go late. Which is why I did all my homework early. I didn't want to have to leave early just to finish homework. Blah.

Alright, falling asleep. Off to bed.

Yes, I'm aware this turned totally lame. But the next post I'll have actual material to post about.

if you'd like to make a call, please hang up and try again. if you need help hang up and then dial your operator...

Querque!

and the towels are oh-so fluffy

yep, 1:09, definitely back-posting and then crashing.

wait a minute, I'll go check.........NO! we're out of bear claws!

Can't read my polka face.

So The Voice is coming back for a fall season.

I'm sure my boyfriend is thrilled to hear that.

Apparently I'm all crazy obsessive about the show, though I doubt I'll have time for it with class and work and life and all that.

This year is a bit different, I mean the basics are still the same, except now when a coach cuts somebody the other coaches can pick that person up - but they have to win them over first, it's basically blind auditions all over again, they hit a button and fight for them.

Should be fun to watch.

On DVR.

Speaking of DVR, currently skimming through more old olympics. Up to USA men's basketball taking on Spain for the championship.

Just got done watching Haywire - eh, I mean it was alright, I was hoping it would be better. I could see a lot of Bourne tie-ins, but there was just something missing. Scale of Awesome puts it somewhere around 6/10.

And it had some major names in it so I'm surprised it didn't get as much press, Ewan McGregor, Antonio Banderas, Channing Tatum, Michael Douglas, and of course American Gladiator Gina Carano - I gotta give it to her, she was pretty badass.

Can you tell the boyfriend is sick?

It doesn't help that I have like 8 movies checked out and they're all due this week.

Why is it that the ones I get fined for turning in late are the ones I don't watch? Like, I check it out cause I think it looks vaguely interesting, but then something else comes in that's more interesting and I watch that instead and push the other to the back-burner and then it sits there until I show up for work and go crap, that was due yesterday. Woops.

Yes I have fines.

I'm aware that it's pathetic cause I'm there everyday.

But if I didn't have fines I couldn't use the line, "it's okay, i have fines too and i'm here everyday. at least you have an excuse." So really, it's a win.

Not really.

And I gotta pay it down so it's under $10 before the changeover from under $15 in September.

I'm also attempting to order ILL stuff before September cause after that I'll get charged. Guessing that's gonna kill that program, but I guess we'll see. Just put in a request for Daria complete series, I loved that show.

Old MTV rocked.

New MTV sucks.

Alright, enough TV crap, life today was good.

Starting training on volunteer stuff for that transition. Oh yeah, they made me Volunteer Coordinator for our branch. It's like a promotion without a raise.

So basically more work, which is fine, work is work.

And I like it so we're good.

It does make things easier since I was already in charge of the Teen Advisory Board which is basically a bunch of teens who volunteer for library stuff. This way there's crossover and I'll know what's going on.

What else is going on? Um, had a burrito for lunch, that was fun.

The boyfriend is sick, that's not fun.

Umm....what else?

Nope that's all I got.

Songs of the day: Weird Al - Polka Remakes

Blame these on random ILL's that I'm getting out of the way before I have to pay for stuff.

Polka Face
love animated P!nk, that's fantastic.

Angry White Boy Polka
but now i just wanna listen to SOAD chop suey actual version.

Out for the night.

Swollen limbs, Rookie movie, Musical Wine Nerds and Blue stuff, plus a slutty manikin

So my arm is swollen.

No idea why.

Guessing it's some sort of bug bite.

As in actual bug, not like virus bug.

Same thing happened at teen camp this past year, woke up with a swollen ankle, but with some ice and Benadryl it went away. Hoping same plan will work.

It was actually amusing cause I work with a bunch of mothers and they all had different advice. Though the common theme was go to the doctor.

Which I will.

If this doesn't work.

Not the first time my arm was all messed up and I'm sure not the last. I'm clumsy like that. Though last time I had to figure out how to staple artwork above my head while my arm was a numb. Basically stuck the artwork between that and the wall and attempted to lean it against the wall and staple with the other. Didn't work out so hot.

Whoa, Courage the Cowardly Dog. Flashbacks. That and Ah, Real Monsters. Rocko's Modern Life... sorry, ran across them. Ah memories.

Just watched "The Rookie" my favorite Dennis Quaid movie. Well, that and the Parent Trap. "Nothing, not a thing, Cruella..." Everyone should have a Dennis Quaid movie. You have plenty to choose from, GI Joe, Footloose, What to Expect When You're Expecting, Day After Tomorrow...

I'll give it a 7/10 on the Scale of Awesome. Kind of a slow start, I remember it being much better. Like The Big Green, apparently I was a sports movie enthusiast.

I love Angus, "I'm not doing it."

Still pretty good though, emotion-wise and all that. Based on a true story.

So, said I was gonna do this yesterday and I feel asleep anyway. Which is what I'll do soon so I'll post them now.

"Red, Red Wine"

"White and Nerdy" Weird Al

"Blue" Eiffel 65

courtesy of the red, white and blue.

Yes, I know this post was lame, but the only other stuff going on was stocking up on Benadryl and buying some groceries, working 8 hours...that's all I got. I'm sure there's something I'm missing so more tomorrow.

Oh right, I've got a lot of curiosity feedback about the slutty manikins. Here's a picture and you can decide how you would rate them on the slutty scale.

"They wore them on HeeHaw!"

I might be wearing swiss cheese or may be covered in bees...

"we're the cheese at the end of the maze."

So interesting day today: Summer Reading Program training in the morning. I basically directed the kiddos downstairs and observed Mentor lead the meeting. Just going over all the Summer Reading events along with booklets and signup. But everything is online so it's super easy.

It was cool to watch the TAB kids at work, they got to lead the ice breaker, using speed dating as the activity. Basically they came up with the prompts, but it was still speed dating and highly amusing.

They also explained the booklets and all that.

After that it was camp central. Met up with the core group - minus a few - came up with an application form, changed some stuff around price-wise, basically since there's going to be air conditioning in the new building it's going to be a bit more expensive.

But we fixed it.

Sort of.

I guess we'll see.

And of course we did it in our very own goofy and procrastinative way.

But we got the job done, though the most interesting part was while we were stuffing envelopes my mom calls all frantic. "I don't know where you are but get in the basement."

Apparently there was a tornado headed straight at the farmhouse and stopped right before it got hit.

Kind of an eye-opener.

Though we were at the church so we basically just moved our party downstairs and kept working.

And it was probably good that we were there cause the basement always leaks when there's a big storm. The outside drains get clogged with leaves so Obi-Wan fixed it for the night.

But the farmhouse is fine, apparently Dad watched the whole thing on his way home, but pulled over cause he didn't want to drive into it.

We didn't even notice the storm cause the blinds were closed, but then Steve looks up and says something about it being dark out, that's when we got the phone call from Mom. Turned on the TV and went, yeah, should probably move downstairs...

Alright, I'm out semi-early for a weekend. Church tomorrow morning and Squirt gets her diploma for graduating grade school, woohoo! After that is dinner and after that is an open house FOR CAMP J!

We get to tour the new building, I'm stoked will take pictures for the new website.

Oh yeah, we're getting a new website. Cause ours is down. And isn't coming back up. But it'll be easier this way, maintain it ourselves and all that. So we're thinking we should add in a link for the history of our Camp J which means I have to start listing all the themes that I can remember.

And since our first year was 1982 we're thinking we should do some sort of 30th anniversary edition kind of thing.

I'm just stoked cause I'm practically done for the 7/8 and teen helper skits.

Yes, the teen helpers are doing a skit.

They're going to do it and they're going to like it.

Cause I said so.

And I'm mean like that.

But it's humorous and it's not like I'm making them sing. Just you know...dance...and cheer...and there's a possibility of a wig. But maybe not if I still got my female teen helper.

Everyone's just stoked for the new building.

And I'm stoked that we're done with the application forms. They'll get sent out this week so I'll probably already have my hands full by the end of the week.

Which reminds me that I need to go buy a new binder. Cause last year's is overflowing. And I've just started buying new ones every year instead of having to deal with the old stuff. Put it in the tub and be done with it.

Songs of the night:

"Express Yourself" - Madonna

the originator that led to the spinoff aka "Born This Way" by Lady Gaga even though she claims it has nothing to do with this one. Um...melody...theme...outfits...hmmm...

Which I would have posted, but the video was far too creepy. Seriously weirded me out.

So you get Weird Al instead.

And I think I like it better.

"Perform This Way" - Weird Al

and amusing enough the weirdness in this video doesn't even breach the weirdness in that one. and so glad he brought the madonna angle to it.

i love him. and apparently he writes children's books so i like him even more.

Notes from the blender

So I'm a magnet.

For creepers.

This week has been no exception.

A guy came up to me at the desk with a "psychology question" for a class he's taking.

First it was "if someone asked you if you wanted to hang out would you say yes, no, or maybe?"

To which I didn't answer.

So then he changed it to, "do you like music?"

To which I said "sure".

And then he came at me with, "so if someone asked you if you wanted to hang out and listen to music, would you say yes, no, or maybe?"

I said it would depend on the relationship I had with that person.

"Well, you're both single." and that's when he got the ring.

Basically, when I get hit on I hold up my left hand, aka the one with the fake wedding ring, and they back off.

There's a reason I wear it every day.

And this way I'm not technically lying, they just assume I'm taken and they back off.

But it's not like this is irregular, it happens quite frequently.

But I'm too nice, so lately I've been shutting them off entirely.

I don't need another "likes ass or jazz" fiasco mentioned here: This Magnet Moment

Anyway, so I showed him the ring and he kept talking! So I looked over at John Boy who then turned to Queen of the Known Universe and she came to my rescue calling me away from the desk and saying something about going to the basement for a YA question.

So I did and ended up in cataloging talking to the New Girl and grabbing a YA item just in case I went back up there and he was still at the desk. That way I could claim the item was re-cataloged and fixed or something to that matter, but he was gone by the time I got back there.

She and I save each other frequently, though the most memorable was when this guy nearly invited himself over to my house for November so she walked out into the stacks and called the extension and told me I needed to go to the basement and get something. So I left the desk and she came back to it. Then, as I hung out in the stacks, I noticed he wasn't leaving her alone. So I called her extension with my cellphone claiming I needed her in the basement. Then we basically ended up hiding out in the stacks waiting for him to leave the desk.

Which he actually stood at for about five more minutes.

Then there was another guy who was like 30, living with his brother and said he was ready to settle down and get married.

I told him I don't date patrons.

He attempted to find a way to work around it.

Didn't work.

Speaking of the Queen of the Known Universe, she ties for first in the Quote of the Day selection.
-"I don't want to cougar him." turned it into a verb, i like it.

When our library director, aka my boss's boss's boss, is notified about a change coming from the mayer's office she responds with "what the hell are you thinking?"

What else...

Tomorrow is "meet the parents" night.

His dad's birthday party, should be interesting.

I'll keep you posted.

Have tomorrow off to run errands, clean my apartment, but most importantly sleep in.

So don't call me before noon.

I'm out. Exhausted.

American Pie - Don McLean

but something touched me deep inside the day the music died.

he left his home and kissed his mommy goodbye, saying soon i'm gonna be a jedi, soon i'm gonna be a jedi.

if you haven't already heard this next version you are seriously missing out on life. check it out.

Star Wars Epic Saga - Weird Al

PS - I checked out the book that I got from cataloging. "Notes from the Blender" which reminds me of my newest obsession.

Blackberries.

Addicted.

Got a blender from Second Sister for my birthday. I'm hooked. Started making a lot of fruit smoothies with random fruit, pineapple, strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, rasberries, all that. I like it. And it's healthy, so THERE!

Thursday, July 7, 2011

that's your horoscope for today.

There's a dead bird in my parking lot. I'm too scared to go see if it's Jack. Is that a bad omen? The bird that rides home with you on your car turns up dead in your parking lot the next day? I mean, it can't be a good sign. What does that signify exactly? Maybe I should read my horoscope and see what it says.
"Thursday, Jul 7th, 2011 -- You reserve the right to be different today as spacey Uranus activates beautiful Venus in your 5th House of Romance. You aren't interested in being just like everyone else, so show off the twinkle in your eyes and enjoy the bounce in your step. Don't be afraid to move to the rhythm of music that no one but you can hear."
Well....that was helpful. Although I do dance, mostly while shelving, randomly.

"That's Your Horoscope For Today" Weird Al

Harry Potter version. Love it. Until the end prediction thing, creepy.

or here's another

awesome video, wish I was that talented.

So I did it. Wore the cowboy boots the whole day without tripping or falling. I was proud of myself. Oldes Sister showed up to work and took a pic then sent it to Second Sister so there's visual proof. Huzzah!

Went over to Oldest Sister's house for dinner, we watched Date Night and CaddyShack plus finally uploaded all my camp stuff. She made salmon. It was fantastic.

Now I'm gonna watch Warehouse 13 - watching the bloopers Laura Harris has one! Huzzah! But no matter who she plays she'll always be Jill to me. Look it up.

Tomorrow the maintenance people will hopefully be here to put up my curtains. Oldest Sister is gonna jam out here while I'm gone. Should be fun.

Alright, I'm outta here!

Monday, May 9, 2011

Just wave.

Oldest sister has this story that's kind of turned out to be a great life analogy. Basically, back when she was in high school, she was told not to ride on this guy's motorcycle and then of course she did it anyway. And, while riding in town, she passes our parents. Knowing she's already in trouble she just waves. It's a good life motto - along with "that's something to scrapbook". Life is crap. Or so I was told today. So the least you can do, when times are bad and you know you're in trouble, is wave. I have a feeling I'll be doing a lot of waving this week.

Play practice today was interesting. The performance is Thursday but there were no jitters. Actually, there was no interest at all. They wouldn't stand still, they were talking when other people were saying their lines, they didn't speak out - I was in the third row and I couldn't even hear them. I'm beginning to be glad this is only going to last 25 minutes instead of the usual 45. So, we're not doing commercials anymore and the kids gave up on their rap-off at the end. It's a whole mess. But, with all the bad timing - got the script late, during sports seasons, almost end of year and they just want to be done with school - what else should I expect? But whatever. I'll wave for that too.
And I guess there was good with the bad. They're all out of their books - except one and that's allowed because she's the reporter and can read from the script - and the songs are better than the weird versions in the script now that Nic has fixed them. I applaud her patience with kids. I only come in like once a week - well, now like once every two - but she has them every day. Yikes. See, this is why I dropped out of the Ed program. Kids...not my strong point. Good thing I direct a camp, huh?
Anyway, my camp director partner and I - because he's involved in like everything - hooked up some mics and stuck them around the stage so we should be able to hear the kids through at least the third row.

And, we got to talk about the joy that is camp, and the preparation process that goes along with and hasn't started yet even though it should have. I have people asking about information already, usually we wait to send forms out until school is out for the summer but that is coming a lot more quickly than I'd like it. So, I get the joy of coming up with new forms, sending them out, sending everything new to our website guy and hoping he has time to update it, plus do grad school stuff and work both jobs. This is going to be a fun couple of months.
After original application forms are out we work up a mock schedule and I start a spreadsheet of the campers as their applications come back. Then we have our meeting where we decide the specifics about the schedule. Then my director partner and me - and my high school friend if she still wants to help out, not sure as I haven't talked to her in a while - assign kids to counselors and counselors to cabins, finalize the schedule on an official form we give the kids, plan a packing list and send it out to all the campers along with information for the parents. After all that joy is printing out nametags for all the lanyards - and cleaning all the lanyards before we put the new ones in which is just gross - and then we're about halfway done. Haha.
Then it's songbooks with Liz - my mentor for all things music and camp - and I get the pleasure of writing and assigning skits for grades 3-8th. Oh, and assigning teen helpers to cabins and other stations. The teen helpers are always an interesting bunch. Either they're super excited to be there so we put them in cabins or they just want to get away from their parents in which case we put them at a station we think they'll be good at. I cheat because I get first pick for skits and worship with me and Liz. We get the best ones - aka play guitar and put up with our antics.
So, all that, while worrying about budgeting, volunteers, oh and this year we're going to have to find new lifeguards as ours might not make it. They're lifers like me, but all good things must come to an end.
Like I said, fun couple of months. There will be a multitude of waving.

Songs for the day:

White and Nerdy - Weird Al

So yes, I am a fan. And yes, I do sing this at work.
...
Sorry...Victoria....I can't pimp this video enough: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkrbXvo5fVQ
Mike and Molly - Victoria steals every scene!

"Misery Business" Paramore

No she's not the brunette, hold out til the end. I was super confused. Think I'm still super confused.

But other than sleeping in - huzzah! - watching NCIS and Body of Proof, going to play practice, hanging with my family, then driving back here to my big fat cat there wasn't a lot going on today. Oh, I finished my book. Eh. I mean, it was good. But when I was done all I could think of was, "Well, that was super depressing." and "Why would you leave her journal there?" Tomorrow I have to find Book #2 and fast as I'm not sure how many pages it has. Gotta read it and write some sort of analysis question about the both of them.

Alright, out for the night. Hope you have a good week!

Little Miss, Little Miss, Little Miss Can't Be Wrong - 90's music Day Two

Time: 2:30
Location: Couch
TV show on in background: Law and Order SVU season one, woohoo library dvds!
Attitude: Tired, and some dude is drilling something nextdoor so I can't nap. Mean.

Day Two, let's get started.
1. Awesome rock song (probable crossover with pop category)
2. Cool pop/rap song (probable crossover with rock category)
3. Mandatory Country song - since that's what I was mostly listening to in that time of life.
4. TV tie-in - soundtracks and all that
5. And a yes, I did listen to this song and do continue to when it comes up on my ipod, I don't care if it makes me a total dweeb.

1. "Phantom of the Opera Song" Me First and the Gimme Gimmes 1999

Think this is a fanmade video but it works.
I actually learned about them from my younger cousin when we were going somewhere like years and years ago. And since then I got my even younger cousin hooked on them as well. They do remakes of all sorts of songs, Dolly Parton, Billy Joel, Elton John, Dixie Chicks, they even cover Rocky Horror! "Over the Rainbow" is good as well as "Ghost Riders in the Sky", actually they're all good. Hope you check them out.

2. "Little Miss Can't Be Wrong" Spin Doctors 1992

Pop-ish rock, I'm going with it.

3. "Sold" John Michael Montgomery 1995

This has an extended "let's dance around like idiots" segment at the end. Hysterical.

4. "You Don't Own Me" First Wives Club 1996

and yes I know the dance.

5. "Amish Paradise" Weird Al Yankovich 1996

I'm thinking he needs to make a comeback. Haven't heard anything out of him since "White and Nerdy" - another awesome song. I also enjoy his polka songs, the horoscope song and of course "The Saga Begins" aka the Star Wars song.

Text if you make it to your apartment, call if you go to the hospital

My mother said to me so lovingly as I left tonight. She's going to bed early understandably. Long day tomorrow, taking her mom to her sister's funeral. Alzheimer's is not a fun disease. They've told her twice and she's forgotten both times. I can only imagine how hard tomorrow will be. Grams is one of my favorite people. She's the nicest lady, so patient - although I guess you'd have to be if you had eight kids, madness - and really funny. I think I talked about her comments about 'old people' at her 'apartment.'

I'm being spontaneous. I'm typing this on the floor while listening to Weird Al on cassette tape. Found my Doris Day!!

Today was awesome. I laid around in my pajamas and watched a marathon of World's Dumbest. I used to watch (fall asleep) to that show practically every night of my senior year of college. When it was on at least. It was either that or Pastor Melissa Scott. Gotta love televangelists. Even though it's where celebrities' careers go to die I think it's hilarious. Judy Gold, Danny Bonaduce, Leif Garrett, Tonya Harding, Daniel Baldwin, although Brad Loekle is the best. Today's were World's Dumbest Performers 3, Drivers 11 and 15, and Brawlers like 2 and 3 I think. I love that show, and I'm not ashamed. Even though it's awful. But today's were grand, mostly because I missed it so much. One of the performers was this lady who had a show about the importance of cat massaging.
"And the mountain gods said we will spare your life!!!....but we're taking your jeep!" - Jaime Andrews she's one of the good ones.
Here's an example of the stupid/funny
Carter is staying with mom and dad this week since I'm going back out there for New Years. It's so weird, I can actually stretch out my legs without him at the bottom of the couch and I won't wake up to him laying on my stomach or have to barricade the door every time I leave so he doesn't pounce on it and make noise.
Okay, back on the couch watching The Nanny and eating goldfish. My spontaneity can only last so long. Tomorrow is full day of work then the Closer then Castle. Hopefully. Plus have to go get food, and the only liquid in my fridge is alcoholic. Which is why right now I'm drinking a strawberry margarita out of a bottle - thanks to the grab bag and Teina.

Alright, I'm out. Hope you all had a fun and safe holiday.
