"I think I speak for all of us when I say TODAY....was a DAY!"
now what the crap is that from? it was on repeat in my head all morning.
Class at 8:30 this morning over an hour away.
I was already running late when I get all the way through town and Jarvis starts beeping at me cause I'm running out of gas. No way I can make it all the way there, have to turn around and come back.
Called Library Goddess completely freaking out, and since she's as awesome as awesome can be, she covered for me.
And, okay, do you know how long it takes to fill up half a tank when you're running late compared to how long it takes to fill a whole tank when you have the time?
Duuuude, so not cool.
But I drove like a madwoman and made it there by 8:35. The substitute was barely introducing herself. I crashed in my usual back corner seat and was finally able to breathe.
Duuuude, just duuuuude.
Class was good though, listened to people present, talked about next assignments - dude, we get to draw our own blue prints, I'm stoked!
We basically get to take a library we're working in - or use - update it with new stuff and do the floorplan before and after the update. We update the hardware, shelving, etc. Freaking stoked. Does that make me a nerd?
It's easy to choose which library. Okay, maybe not. Actually I'm still debating between the two I work in. One has multiple floors so I'd just cut it down to one and switch-around the layout, with the other... there are actually a lot of changes that I would make. And I know the layout better, so I should probably choose it. That happens when you're an aide.
And Library Goddess says we have an unlimited budget and can knockdown/expand walls. We need a computer lab. Or a study room at least. Plus some couches that are more comfortable than wooden chairs, maybe a built in projector for movie nights on Sundays. Our freaking library is always first up on the chopping block, maybe it wouldn't be if we could update. I know that's not an option with the current budget, but I'm stoked to be able to draw it out. Any suggestions send them my way.
After all that headed back and crashed on my couch, took a nap, watched some SVU season six. Then headed to oldest sister's house for supper and Chuck Season Four. which I got today, huzzah!
However, I'm back to season six of SVU cause it has a due date and Chuck doesn't.
We also watched Sixteen Candles. Because it's awesome and amusing. I love the foreigner, he's the best character. Followed by the geek. Who has no real name. Just "the geek". Gotta love John Hughes, his 80's movies are classics.

I find I'm using that word almost as much as Captain Awesome on Chuck. It makes the actual awesome things less awesome. And we can't have that happen. So I'm looking for a new word. Any suggestions send them my way.

and who in case she doesn't hang can say she started with a bang?

It's interesting reading about how many women were up for the roles of her and Velma Kelly from Chicago - quite possibly the best musical of all time...just below RENT.
Get this out of the way and go from there,
For those of you who didn't get yesterday's "Towanda" reference:
Fried Green Tomatoes best scene. That's pretty much how we were laughing in the car during the whole "Jansen!!" experience.
Highlights:
Morning: Had Diet Dr. Pepper and some donuts for breakfast. I'm super sad that it's my coworker's last day at work - she comes every summer and ditches us for the school year. Makes me sad cause she's just that awesome. But she brought us donut holes. I think I'll see her later this week at the other branch though so it's cool.
Work: I think I was on the main floor the entire day until lunch and then the very last hour. It's not that I mind but I find it amusing because apparently I'm social. Or at least helpful. I don't know if I like being called social. It's just weird to me. Since I'm not. At all. But at work it's different. Cause it's an actress thing. Which sounds weird but if you work in public service I'm sure you understand.
But sometimes people are such good an actress that patrons stop by to give them recipes for cabbage soup they 'seemed' interested in and then patrons force me to find the woman they were talking to just to give her a copy of the freaking recipe so I have to send out the weirdest staff email I've ever sent asking for who it was she was talking to about cabbage soup and what they want me to do with the freaking recipe. I put it on Girlscout's desk. She can deal with it when she comes in.
-Saw a book today in the nonfiction called "Sesame Street Unpaved" it had a bunch of behind the scenes stuff. I was amused.
-Had lunch with the security guard today. She's pretty cool, drummer in a band, I posted the video of my favorite of their songs here: My Life in Closed Captions: Can I Keep You - Some Assembly Required We hit up my favorite new burrito place, a recent phase but it's close to work and has cheap food. Invited me to go see a band play tomorrow night, we shall see. It depends on how much I want to crash and burn after golf tomorrow.
-I enjoy my foreign friends. Contact with them makes my day. They are just that awesome. Which reminds me that I'm supposed to be working on one of their projects instead of 20 of my own. Woops. Freaking writer's block goes away when I actually need it.
Tonight: The tire pressure light is on in my car and it's weirding me out. Cause it's not flat. But maybe it's about to go flat or something. I don't know, I'm still not smart enough for Jarvis. Every couple months I end up hitting that call button on the stearing wheel and shouting vulgarity that it then asks if that's who I want to place a call to. Go here: My Life in Closed Captions: "To call hell say dial."
Now: Jesus is staring at me. No, seriously. There's a picture of Jesus in my bedroom and he's looking at me. Freaking me out. Lord's Supper picture is leaning against a chair in my bedroom and staring at me. I have no idea where it came from but I came home and it's here. And now all I can think of is the Davinci Code. There's not a specific object on the table and there's a big space between you know who and you know who. And that's all I'm gonna say for those of you who haven't seen it/read the book. Although, I think that enough time has elapsed that if you actually had a desire to see/read it you would have by now. Both the book and the movie are excellent.
-Speaking of coming home, I get here, walk in and Mom's like, "What are you doing here?" And not in a pleasant fluffy tone, no. I called! And told Dad not to lock me out. You'd think he would relay the message, but on. Apparently he enjoys surprising her or something. But I learned he did enjoy the HeeHaw skit and he's currently helping me write lyrics to next year's already. Feeling special.
-Voice is officially back. I think. For the most part. Superwoman was enjoying the quiet version of me. Again, apparently I actually talk at work and act like a normal person. This is brand new information to me.
-Came home and watched Bones episodes on the DVR. huzzah!

Tomorrow is golf with the 2G gang. I'll have to upload pics of us all in our bright orange. I'm wondering whatever happened to my lazy time. Before on the weekends I did like nothing, then I got a job and I worked most of the days but there would always be that day where I stayed in bed and did absolutely nothing. I think that was all destroyed by camp. Maybe now that it's over it'll come back.
I'm watching that NSync video again and whatever happened to JC? I know Chris has some sort of clothing line, Joey was an actor, Justin Timberlake is Justin Timberlake and Lance has become some sort of an icon as well. I'm just curious since JC was like number 2 man in America for how many years and he just disappears? Yes, number 2 man Sketch. Justin being number one. Don't think I was saying he was trumped by one of those crazy BSB dues. Anyway, that was a while ago.

So you'll remember what I forgot to say...
Write this down!
Class today was awesome, as always. Had to stop for gas on the way. See, Maggie used to beep at me when I was running out of gas, Jarvis just has this light in the corner of the dash. And I'm soooo good at checking the dash...not. Ask my parents. "How long as that oil gage been broken?" "Um, a while?" "WHAT?!"
So, 12 books in 6 weeks. 2 down, 2 for next week. Soon it'll be an audio book, got it off Amazon.com and apprently it's really long but since I'm not driving back and forth between practice and here anymore I'll have to load it on my computer and put it on my ipod. That's always in my pocket...along with a quotebook, flashdrive with my grandpa's journals and all my camp stuff on it, chunk of concrete from junior year of college (long story), a business card and a bunch of slips of paper that seem to accumulate as the day goes on. I used to write notes on my arms and hands to remember things but it's probably unprofessional to do it in public service so I write them on paper instead.
Okay so now I can officially review them.
Book #1 = "Hold Still" by Nina LaCour
Caitlin finds her best friend's journal under her bed after she commits suicide. Story follows her journey dealing with grief and moving on with her life.
It was okay, nothing I plan on reading again because it was depressing. But it was quick read with a lot of journal entries and some cool pictures.
Book #2 = "Revolution" by Jennifer Donnelly
After her brother dies and her mother goes crazy Andi's father decides to take her to Paris where she finds this diary in an old guitar case that belonged to a girl from the French Revolution. The girl was the official companion to the Dauphin of France - the son of the King and Queen during the French Revolution.
You MUST read this book. I can't say anything more about the plot without giving things away. But you MUST read this book. If you like Historical Fiction it's the perfect read. Even if you don't like Historical Fiction it's a great way to get you interested. I rarely read it but I was hooked from the start. It's funny, it's educational - I seriously looked up facts on the French Revolution and Louis-Charles after I was finished reading it because I had to know - because it's based on a true story. Read this book.

-"What color was the car?...blue..." a totally indepth question...not.

-"I don't care if you have a girl middle and a boy high or a boy middle and a girl high...school! High school!" yeah...haha, gotta include school on that one.
-"Take the call but go down the hall, don't say Hey by the door. We don't care about your hey." but it was like "Hey" as in "Hey, Ho, Hey, Ho" hysterical.
-"Have your dog look at it, I don't care." there were a lot of dog references
-"You will not get a handout for your marriage." true dat.
-"iPad, uPad, we all pad" I don't remember what we were talking about but it was funny
-"There's language we use with our friends and language we don't use with our grandmother." yeah.

Tonight I'm going with Grandma (26-year-old-coworker) who I, from now on, will refer to as "Slim Shady" because it's shorter and funnier, are going to see a friend from work's band play. It's Slim Shady because at inservice they made the people who were working on the software transition stand up. I said Stand up Slim Shady and it was funny because that's like anti-her. I'll make it work.

bugs on steroids!
That's what a friend of mine said when she first moved here. We were driving and her windshield was covered in june bug juice. haha. But there were freaking bugs everywhere at work this morning. Spiders and crickets and some weird looking green thing. Just gross.
So, Jarvis decided to go rogue again. The unlock button on my key stopped working so I had to use the actual key. Which is fine. Except that it set the car alarm off. Crimeony. I'll have to figure out where the spare key is cause tomorrow I'm at both libraries and an alarm blaring might make things awkward. Especially when there's a security guard that would totally make fun of you for it.
But play practice was awesome! I was shocked! I mean, usually it's awesome because I love the kids and we have a lot of fun but this year they're just not as pumped as usual. Anyway, today they knew most of their lines and they were actually singing the songs. I'm going back out Thursday afternoon and hopefully we'll be completely out of the books and all that. Bop and my oldest girl are writing their own commercial so that's exciting. The King and Shad started working on their rap this afternoon. So if both of those things get finalized and we start work on them by the end of this week we might actually be ready! Shocker! 16 days. Holy toast. I'm just glad I don't have to learn the lines. I do however have to write a song with Nic. Which of course we haven't started yet. Last year we wrote it just a few days before performance so we're right on track now. We still need to pick a topic as well. I'll have to brainstorm on that this week. What about, what it takes to direct a grade school play? hmm...
Another fun thing that's kind of still going on - we're having a bit of a battle on facebook! My cousins and myself that is. My sister mentioned something about not being cool enough for her daughter to want to be "matchers" with - which is more of a long story - but my male cousin stood up for her, saying our family is awesome but then something along the lines of the male members of the family being better. To which he was bombarded by comments by myself, my sister, my second sister, and two of my cousins. I cool aunt quoted him as well. Because she's right and this just proves true. "*insert last name* women show up!" Which is true! Weddings, family reunions, etc. We're always there. Us women are awesome. And it is totally on like donkey kong. Seriously.

I enjoy watching him put on his jacket in slow motion. And okay, gotta say,
Red hoodie = awesome.
Giant blue scarf that's really awkward and unnecessary indoors = dumb.
It's like the updated version of Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman yelling at each other in a giant elephant, I'm loving it!

"Is this ad relevant to you?" "No!"
Gotta love watching TV online. I love Hulu, it's fantastic, it has all my favorite shows and it's free. But they stick you with these ads that are like ridiculous then ask if they're relevant to you. Car commercial, relevant? No. Different car commercial, relevant? No. Kay jewelry commercial, relevant? No. Open hearts jewelry commercial, relevant? No. Video game promotion, relevant? No. I was like, what's next? Different video game promotion?
Is it just me or is anyone else secretly waiting for the psycho killer to show up at the end of that "i'm right here and i always will be" storming outside kay diamond commercial? I think I watch too many crime shows. Speaking of, I caught up on Bones and I don't want to ruin anything for anybody else who isn't up to date but dude. Like duuuude. Big episode last week, I'm stoked for tomorrow's. Heather Taffet man! And I was starting to like her as an actress. She was in the Closer, Saving Grace and Criminal Minds as well - although I haven't seen the last one since I'm on strike. I'll spare you the rant. Again. But a serial guest star again, like Natalie! aka "bring it on old man" chick from RED aka Go Meat chick from the Hillshire Farms commercial who also guest spotted on all my favorite shows. Scroll down a few posts and you'll find who I'm talking about. In fact, Taffet and Natalie kind of remind me of one another. Maybe it's the red hair and bad attitude.
So the roads here are awful but Jarvis and I are still having fun. Except that it took FOREVER to scrape off the windshield this morning even though I used the self-start ten minutes before. Just have to start earlier tomorrow morning. But driving and seeing snow flying everywhere reminded me of sledding on the farm. You don't just have the sled you go all out with the 4-wheeler pulling you over hills and ponds and through the ditches. You just gotta hang on for dear life. Especially when your cousin runs you into a mailbox, my bad, sorry Megan. Or over the top of a car, again my bad Megan, but it was well worth it. And it's always fun when you get stuck in a pile of snow and step on the gas only to fly right through making the person on the sled get completely yanked off because it's so sudden. Awesome. Unfortunately I've missed out on the sledding so far since I've been working but I'll have to make up for it when I go home.
One of my favorite snow memories was when it snowed so much and it piled up next to the quanset - this building of ours so big it houses the combine and tractors and all that - and so I climbed all the way to the top and slid down. Mom totally flipped, like flipped. Dad just laughed and went inside to get the camera. I was fearless. There's a picture of me standing on top of this thing and it's not like a flat top building, it's rounded. That was probably a very bad idea. But I survived.
I also liked making forts, we did a lot of that in grade school. But no snowball fights, that was frowned upon, in grade school and high school.
Music currently jamming out to - "Don't know nothing" by Maroon 5. I love the rhythm of this one. I'm recommending their Hands All Over album again, it's fantastic.
Food thinking about eating even though it's after 11 - popcorn. mmm... popcorn.
TV show I will most likely fall asleep watching - NCIS first season, I'm back to the DVDs. I miss Kate. It's so weird seeing Sasha as a Medical Examiner now. And Angie Harmon is still a detective but she'll always be Lindsay Boxer to me. Yes I'm referencing Women's Murder Club. Get over it. But I do like Rizzoli and Isles, I'm waiting for the first season to come out on DVD. Should look into when it comes out. Oh well, job for tomorrow. I'm out.
Is it just me or is anyone else secretly waiting for the psycho killer to show up at the end of that "i'm right here and i always will be" storming outside kay diamond commercial? I think I watch too many crime shows. Speaking of, I caught up on Bones and I don't want to ruin anything for anybody else who isn't up to date but dude. Like duuuude. Big episode last week, I'm stoked for tomorrow's. Heather Taffet man! And I was starting to like her as an actress. She was in the Closer, Saving Grace and Criminal Minds as well - although I haven't seen the last one since I'm on strike. I'll spare you the rant. Again. But a serial guest star again, like Natalie! aka "bring it on old man" chick from RED aka Go Meat chick from the Hillshire Farms commercial who also guest spotted on all my favorite shows. Scroll down a few posts and you'll find who I'm talking about. In fact, Taffet and Natalie kind of remind me of one another. Maybe it's the red hair and bad attitude.
So the roads here are awful but Jarvis and I are still having fun. Except that it took FOREVER to scrape off the windshield this morning even though I used the self-start ten minutes before. Just have to start earlier tomorrow morning. But driving and seeing snow flying everywhere reminded me of sledding on the farm. You don't just have the sled you go all out with the 4-wheeler pulling you over hills and ponds and through the ditches. You just gotta hang on for dear life. Especially when your cousin runs you into a mailbox, my bad, sorry Megan. Or over the top of a car, again my bad Megan, but it was well worth it. And it's always fun when you get stuck in a pile of snow and step on the gas only to fly right through making the person on the sled get completely yanked off because it's so sudden. Awesome. Unfortunately I've missed out on the sledding so far since I've been working but I'll have to make up for it when I go home.
One of my favorite snow memories was when it snowed so much and it piled up next to the quanset - this building of ours so big it houses the combine and tractors and all that - and so I climbed all the way to the top and slid down. "To call hell say dial."
Sometimes Jarvis scares the crap out of me. I was pulling into the parking lot at work and while trying to avoid being schmeered I hit the sync button accidentally and he started talking to me. "Please say a command." I totally freaked and was like "What the hell?!" It replied with the title of this post. I told that to my boss and he was like, did a creepy guy with a deep voice answer? I totally turned off the car and started freaking out. Oh man. But that was last week. Then, a few days ago, the gear shift changed BY ITSELF from automatic to manual - cause it has both options - while I was mid-traffic on the way to work. And I didn't know it even happened until the engine started revving and I was like not moving. I pulled into a driveway and figured it out. I don't know if I like didn't lock it into place or if it was between gears and it slipped or what but it scared the crap out of me. Needless to say I was awake for the rest of the day - both of those days. I really need to read the manual about that whole sync system. I could totally make that work! I'm loving the self-start in the winter. So nice.
Today I went to my grad school with my aunt - she gave me a tour of the building and where to park and stuff. Where the cheapest gas is, where the best pop and coffee selection is on the way there, etc. And we stopped for Mexican food as well, it was good. But no margaritas, we were focused! She thought that that Jarvis line was hilarious so I figured I'd share it with you as well. It was the quote of the day. Aside from "TMI" which she says a lot. It's rather amusing actually. And she talks to herself. Glad to know it runs in the family. My neighbors probably think I have a roommate. Or I'm crazy. Either way, just me and my big fat cat. Who I could talk to but he would just stare at me until I fed him. Like he is now.
After the tour I came back to the apartment for a movie marathon. Scale of Awesome time.
Clash of the Titans 7/10 I was pretty entertained but it wasn't spectacular.
The Other Guys 0/10 Almost as bad as Rushmore but not quite - not sure that's possible. I didn't even finish it, I couldn't finish it. Awful. I really don't like Will Ferrell movies. I loved him on SNL but in movies, they're just dumb. And not dumb funny. Just dumb. But I like Mark Wahlberg so I figured I'd give it a chance. Bad choice.
Kick-Ass 8/10 Dude...Hit Girl is totally my hero. She took down so many people!! Crazy! Not sure I liked Nicolaus Cage in it as much, I like him as an actor but I didn't really see him in that role, but the other actors fit their characters pretty well. And it was funny. Totally 8/10.
Tomorrow is a pajama day. Sleeping in - we're supposed to get a lot lot lot of snow so I don't plan on going anywhere. Just gonna lay around and watch the rest of my library dvd's. There are plenty. And they're all like due next week so perfect timing.
Right now I'm gonna watch the rest of Warehouse 13 Season one and konk out in the process. It's excellent a 9/10 on my scale of awesome. I really like the actors they work well together and Claudia's lines are hilarious. Rad. Sick. Ganza! I'm having flashbacks to high school catch phrases. I still say gnarley quite often. Especially during church softball.
I feel so much better after today though because I know where I'm going and when to leave and where to park and all that jazz. Weight off my mind. Now all I have to do is do the homework and email the office about some paperwork. I'd say I'll do it tomorrow but I know that won't happen on my day off. I'll save it for the week when I'm super stressed. I work better that way anyway.

Things that make you go hmmm....
Thing 1 - (yes I'm going Dr. Seuss on you)
Come out to car for lunch break and find mysterious envelope on windshield. A little creepy. Upon opening text possible person of origin and get it confirmed. Not a stalker. Yay for small victories.
Thing 2 - Almost got shmeered *smeared? **shmeared?? ***schmeared??? on route back to work. Truck pulled out in front of me, I slammed on my breaks (yay for new tires on a new car) as did the car immediately behind me. Both thankfully on time. Incident shook me up but Jarvis and I are okay. Yes I've settled on a name. He's Jarvis and he's still shiny. Sort of.
Thing 3 - Cousin whom I haven't seen in ages - like, literally ages cause she's freaky smart and goes to Yale - shows up mysteriously at library with my aunt! Total awesomeness! We talked school, roller derby - of course - family, future plans, dance dance revolution and the like. Was nice to see her again. Now flashing back to family roadtrips to Florida and California... writing songs about bears and listening to Shania Twain's "That don't impress me much" on repeat. I love both sides of my family but on that side I actually have cousins my own age so that's kind of nice. We do family reunions and weddings are a big deal and all that. It's fun.
Thing 4 - I'm debating New Year's Resolutions. I'm down to a few that are doable. I feel like I should make an official list. And like plan for that list. Because every year I say I'm going to do something and never even attempt to do it. I'm sure that's true for many people but I think now is the time I should change things in my life aka health and routine stuff.
Thing 5 - Missouri is playing Iowa. Since I'm technically going to grad school through the Univerisity of Missouri I feel obligated to cheer for them. Not that I'm a big fan of Iowa anyway. I will probably fall asleep by halftime anyway. Maybe I should add in a social life change to that resolution list as well.
