I could write a blog. I have thoughts.

Sunday morning, rain is falling...

Technically it's Monday, but the song is in my head.

Skipped yesterday.

Didn't really have anything to talk about except a crazy dude rambling about Mike Tyson, black magic and computer hackers.

Surprisingly that's more common than you think. Don't remember that from the contract I signed, so I skipped.

Not that I have much more from today, only went in for 2 hours. Though I did fly through some more editing, on my second read-through now to make sure everything makes sense.

Also made some progress on more Sketch and Edit stuff. Will post them next week after Sketch gets her copy, she'd kill me if they were posted on here first.

My problem is that I get all these ideas or quotes and I try to include them or base something off them but then I get another quote and work on that completely forgetting the previous entry.

Oh well, hopefully something good will happen and spark something or whatever.

So, my apartment smells like syrup, and not in a good way.

Got these waffle things that comes with syrup that you put on it and microwave it, but now it's overpowering. I tried to overpower it with noodles and marinara but that just turned the smell into something like lasagna pancakes.

Which would be gross.

I used to not like pancakes.

No idea why, was probably just being stubborn. Though I'm still that way with brussels sprout, melted cheese and more recently pistachios.

"you say tomato I say pimp."

Back to Burn Notice. Have it on in the background while I finish editing. Should be done with both stories by the end of the week. I'm hoping anyway. Saltdogs game tomorrow, see boyfriend either Wednesday or Thursday, Friday I'm in bed early cause I gotta drive an hour to be at class Saturday morning at 8.

Should have had these done ages ago, but to be fair I am working 40 hours, taking classes and then there was camp. Still, I'm on it.

Speaking of being on it, gotta sleep soon. Back to regular work hours tomorrow. Today was nice cause I slept in and went in for two hours. Though it was madness since I didn't even get a chance to check my email and accounts for library and ILL.

But that's what tomorrow is for.

And no I have no idea how that's anything like being "on it".

Song of the day:

"Sunday Morning" Maroon 5

yes, i know this is boring. i'll make up some more stuff just to appease you.

Saw this somewhere but their suggestions were lame.

Okay, so here's how it works: come up with categories, turn on iTunes, put it on shuffle, play a song and list it next to the first category, second song on shuffle goes with second category, etc. no skipping around and must answer honestly.

Did that make sense?

If not hopefully this will.

And the categories are:

Personal Anthem: High-Tech Redneck - George Jones - hey that one actually made sense

Wedding Song: I Knew I Loved You - Savage Garden - okay what's wrong, usually these are way off

Work Theme Song: Nature Boy - David Bowie - okay that's more like it

Exercise Jam: Grenade - Bruno Mars - that could work

Favorite Love Song: 12 Days of Christmas - Relient K - well, i guess you have to be in love to buy all that crap

Favorite Headbanging Song: Ladies Night - Kool and the Gang - yeah, no.

First Dance At Prom With Date Song: Faith - George Michael - hahahaha, that's fantastic.

Mother's Favorite Song: Rhythm of Love - Plain White T's - i could see that one.

Song You Listen To When You're Sad: Strangers Like Me - Everlife remake of Disney classic- perhaps but not likely

Go-To Jam: White Trash Wedding - Dixie Chicks - would have been funnier if it was the wedding or love song

Favorite TV Show's Theme: You & Me - The Cranberries - hm, don't see that playing in the background while images of Angie Harmon, Aubrey Dollar, Laura Harris and Paula Newsome roll across the screeen

Song Playing In The Background When You Were Born: Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow - Roberta Flack - well that's a bit depressing, though i guess it could be worse and end up with the next category

Family's Theme Song: Nowadays - Renee Zellweger on Chicago - and that's good, isn't it grand, isn't it great, isn't it swell, isn't it-

Song That Makes You Cry - Somewhere Only We Know - The Warblers - that one is actually spot on and is only played on three specific dates each year, but that's a longer story. though i guess this year it'll be four to include today.

Song You Sing In The Shower - Move Along - All American Rejects - never saw it that way, but i guess it's worth considering

Song That Is Always Stuck In Your Head - Hotel California - The Eagles - that one is partially true, it's one of those catchy ones that sticks with you

Song You'd Like To Sing On Broadway - Barracuda - Heart - don't see that one happening since i was supposed to learn the guitar part as a dare from mak like 4 years ago and it still hasn't happened

Song You Think Weird Al Should Remake - Yakety-Yak - The Coasters - now that'd be interesting

Song That Reminds You Of Your Best Friend - Chop Suey - System Of a Down - haha, well sometimes we do throw in some commentary or finish each other's sentences

Song That Makes You Laugh: That's The Way I Like It - KC & The Sunshine Band - this is quite humorous

Song That Makes You Mad: Honey, Honey - Amanda Seyfried, Mamma Mia - another true one cause i hate it and it's frequently in my head, "oh he makes me dizzy"

Least Favorite Song: Breathe - Prodigy - well that's just mean, i love that song

Sang At Your Funeral: The Transition - Hawthorne Heights - sort of, kind of makes sense. ish.

When I'm not with you I lose my mind, give me a sign...

I don’t like the new blogger.

Everything is switched around.
Just when I got used to the old one.
It’s like Facebook, why you gotta keep changing. Just stick.
Like Timeline?
Seriously?
Lame.
And weird.
Just weird.
That’s not Facebook, it’s something completely different.
And it takes forever to load everything.
Sorry.
Rant of the day.
Everything else today was pretty good.
Except when it was bizarre.
But not all the bizarre was bad, some was cool.

But other parts of the bizarre were not so cool.
So yeah, pretty good.
That sums it up.
Today was pretty good.
No major problems and The Voice tonight was actually I think the first night in a long time that one of my favorites wasn’t kicked out.
Nice.
So, I’ve picked the final four, right now they each have two on their team, but my guess for the final is gonna be Tony Lucca for Team Adam, Juliet Simms for Team Cee-Lo, Lindsey Pavao for Team Xtina and Jermaine Paul for Team Blake.
That’s my guess.
Even though I’m secretly rooting for Katrina Parker.
She did pretty well tonight, I was shocked SHOCKED that Juliet wasn’t immediately saved, but I guess Jamar Rogers did well last night so he deserved it.
Okay, I’ve hit my Voice rambling limit, as most of you don’t watch it you’re welcome to skip those, though I do have to warn you that they’re gonna be weekly until this thing is over for the season.
Usually I have Castle to follow it but not this week, that’s okay, Adam Baldwin as a guest star makes up for it.

Oh my god, except I kept waiting for a Firefly reference! Seriously, wouldn’t “you’re damaging my calm” be a perfect line for his cop character?!
Okay, not work, not TV, what else is going on.
Um, nothing.
Which is AWESOME!
Did I mention how excited I am to be out of school until June?
Except next week is when camp really picks up so I gotta enjoy this while it lasts.
Like Thursday, day off, middle of the week, gonna sleep in, watch some movies I have checked out, then get some dinner with the sisters for my awesome sister-in-law’s birthday.
Stoked.
I enjoy my siblings, they amuse me. And feed me great one-liners.
And now draw me pretty pictures.
Second Sister attempted “Vikings” on the Draw Something app. That was I think my favorite so far.
I guessed it completely from the letters given to me cause it was like yellow-hat'd people under a boat.
It was awesome.
Should have taken a picture.

Not that any of mine are freakin’ fantastic, as I’m not an artist at all.
Well, drawing-wise anyway.
But I write.
Not this.
Well, I mean I write this too, but this isn’t my writing.
Okay, rephrase, this is not my serious writing.
Not that all my other writing is serious, okay let’s put it this way, this is crap.
It’s fun crap.
And people read it.
My other stuff, which people for some weird reason are convinced is good, I don’t share.
Unless it’s for a class assignment.
Or a Sketch and Edit.
Speaking of, I have a few new ones I could post on here, but I should send them to Sketch first as she would kill me for posting them on here first.
Geez, it’s been a while, I think my last one was like…hm, let me check.
And that was crap.

But it’s fun crap.
Much like this blog.
Which is why they’re on here.
Perhaps I will throw in some writing on Thursday. Make a day of it. After I sleep in. I’M JUST SO EXCITED!
Did I mention I’m not really a morning person.
But you probably figured that out already, I dare you to find one of these that’s posted before 8PM. Or 9 even.
Most of them are like 11:50PM.
Rock it.
What else?
Oh yeah, the Wordsmith came in to work today.
I totally froze.
Gave me an invitation to his graduation.
But it was funny cause he’s physically told me that hell will freeze over before he sets foot into the library.
Like, when he gave me an Xmas present he put it on my car instead of bringing it inside.
Scared the crap out of me in the process.
But still, so yeah, gave me the invitation and then basically ran like hell.

Cause you know, it was about to freeze over, if it hadn’t already.
Crazy.
Anything else?
Um.
Not especially.

Oh, my cat is crazy.
But that's nothing new.

String hoarder.

And some empty shelves.
Which will soon be gone.
Cause they're already to the N's in Biography for the shift, woohoo!

Okay, on to the music.

I’m thinking classic with a twist.

Because it’s just that awesome.
Baby One More Time – Tony Lucca
You can laugh all you want man, but name one other American song that people world-wide can name by hearing just those first three notes.

'til Johnny's dancing with me I've got no reason to smile...

Big day in G-Town man, big day.

First up was driving a pickup to the tire shop as it had a flat, and I followed mom who was also driving a pickup to the tire shop cause it had a flat...and this was after my dad had dropped off my car at the tire shop cause it had a flat...they loved us today.

Then it was the big easter egg hunt at the courthouse which apparently I used to go to but have absolutely no memory of it. I guess my brother took me around, he was the popular one in school so everyone just knew me as Mark's baby sister.

Yeah, that's one of my favorite stories about my brother, he could have been valedictorian but he chose not to because he wanted to have a social life.

All my siblings are super smart and then there's me.

Not that I'm completely incompetent I am a librarian. And got a couple 4.0's in college so I manage.

Anyway, this morning it was all about candy at the courthouse. They divide the age groups up and we had one in each cause Abbers was in the youngest which is like toddler to 3, then you got Booge's group which was 4-6, and then Claire was the oldest in the 7-to I'm guessing like 10, anybody older than that would dominate.

I went with Booge and actually he did dominate, he had excellent strategy though I don't know if he realized it. Basically he's super fast so he ran out in front of all the kids and got there first and then grabbed and ran, like it was the run and scoop method, genius. He dominated. And the girls did pretty well themselves. Plus they got these prize ticket things for businesses around G-Town, they cleaned up man.

I'd call it a victory.

After that Mom and I came back to the house to help the "easter bunny" with candy stuff.

While we attempted to watch "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy" but failed as we were too distracted.

It was alright.

Not fantastic.

I feel like I should go back and watch it more closely because it was SOOO HARD to follow, too many characters I think. I should probably read the book then maybe I'd get it.

Anyway, so I should go back and watch it again but I really have no motivation to. Even though I do love Gary Oldman and Colin Firth, I think they're fantastic, and maybe it is a fantastic movie but I was too distracted to pay attention.

Scale of Awesome at the moment says 4/10 but that's only because I missed half of it cause I was stuffing eggs.

Plus I had to show Mark the Darth Maul commercials posted a few posts below this one and we were watching it on the TV with no remote for the DVD player - which is obnoxious but it's been that way for years now. And the sad part is that we have a universal remote so we could program it, but that'd be too easy you know?

Anyway, yes there are going to be a lot of "anyway"s in this post I think this is my third, get used to it.

Anyway, four, he thought they were funny, which they are, plus I gave him his shirt. I found this Darth Vader shirt at Target that has a picture of Vader and then the phrase "Who's Your Daddy", super funny.

After that candy craze, which mom hid cause she knew that Mark would steal it - he did unsuccessfully try this afternoon but failed epically, I had to throw him some and it was funny cause he was trying to be subtle about it. HA!

Anyway, five, after the candy craze I watched some Swamp People with dad, cause apparently a weekend at the farmhouse isn't complete without watching an episode of Swamp People at least once a day. Which is good, I find it highly enjoyable. Looking forward to next week's and see I'd tape them on my own, but then what would I watch when I came out to the farmhouse?

Really, Swamp People is just saving me from marathon's of HeeHaw. Which I'm sure I'll get tomorrow night before I leave. He usually has ones cued up for me to see.

ANNND after all that I cleaned out my closet.

One of them.

Sort of.

I mean, I went through everything but it's all memorabilia stuff so it's not trash-able. So it'll stay in boxes for now and eventually get moved to my apartment.

So I guess you could say it was more like taking stock rather than cleaning out.

I took stock of all my crap.

And I only got through one of the two closets in my room.

I mean, technically it's one big one they're connected but it's two doors, whatever, anyway six, I found stuff from high school and college and all that and in it was one seriously seriously depressing poem that I don't remember writing at all, and it like threw me off. Cause I was so excited to find all this stuff, especially the stuff I forgot about and then I pull this out and it was like, dude, WTF?

Here.

Read.

And then forget it cause it's highly depressing and like I said I totally forgot about writing it, no idea when I did, but it's in my hand-writing so I guess it was me.

When you smile at me my heart skips a beat.

When you talk to me it starts to pound.

When you're close to me I can hear it in my head.

When you kiss me it leaps into my throat.

When you told me you loved me my knees buckled.

When you're not around I drag my feet.

When we bicker and fight I cannot breathe.

When you told me you're leaving I ended my life.

When you came back for me I was already gone.

When you cried for me I couldn't hear it.

When you threw things for me I couldn't see it.

When you ended your life I saw you again briefly, but just for a second before they took you away.

Why oh why do you do this to me?

and there's that. like i said highly depressing and morbid and just blah.

so forget about it.

cause i'm still reeling and just weirded out that i don't even remember writing it. or who i was writing about. which is weird. cause i'm a writer and it's semi-memorable i would say.

or maybe because it's highly depressing i blocked it out, whatever moving on!

I finally watched the elimination rounds on the Voice and if you don't want to be spoiled - though it was from Tuesday - then don't read.

Stoked that Jordis got saved, though was shocked when she was initially not picked as they said she topped the rock charts and was the first artist to do so on The Voice.

Seriously just excited, and kind of shocked by a lot of the choices, but stoked as they were all my favorites and the ones I downloaded off itunes.

Alright, songs of the day:

"It's My Party" Lesley Gore

i just love her voice, it's so unique. and that's the only way i can describe it.

and its sequel

"Judy's Turn To Cry" Lesley Gore

and you took him back? after that? really?

Troll the ancient yuletide, Carol!

Alright, so it's official.

Library Fever has spread even farther in our family.

Squirt is officially a volunteer at the work branch.

It was amusing because when I asked people if they had met her they commented on the red highlights. Yes, I take full credit for those. Especially since Oldest Sister blames them on me.

I can't help it if I'm just that awesome that people want to be like me.

She has inherited a lot from me though, besides the red hair. She's got the snark, the blog, and the tom-boyishness (from time to time when she's not wearing spandex to play volleyball or screaming about snakes in the grass while playing soccer), and now she's got the library.

Could be a foot in the door kind of thing. If she likes it maybe she'd want to be an Aide. But that's far far in the future.

No one believes it when I tell them she's only 14. She's taller than me. She's also not allowed to stand next to me in pictures. Cause I feel short. Though I still call her Squirt. It's catching on, Slim Shady did as well.

But she's excited about her nametag - of all things - and she seemed to do pretty well with shelf-reading, so who knows.

I've got people watching out for her, favorite patron included. He was excited to meet her. I'm scared they will bond and swap stories. Maybe this was a bad idea.

All in all it was a fantastic day. Made a lot of progress on both ongoing projects aka YA section and supplies list. Though it took me half an hour just to list everything sitting on two shelves of one cabinet. And that's just one cabinet. This is gonna take forever. I'm making a spreadsheet, I figured that was the easiest way to figure out what we have and what we need. Plus I can send it out so others will know where to find things.

Aside from all that I hung out at Oldest Sister's house for a while, ate with them and then came back here to write. AND IT WORKED! I've been writing for almost two hours straight now. This whole apartment story is taking shape. No idea what I'll do with it when it's done, well, if it gets done. There's still a lot to do. Out of the 10 tenants all the stories have been started, but there is like one that's finished. And that's not even finished finished, it's just slightly finished. Cause it's at the end of a scene. So I could end it there, but people would kill me. They already attempted it in college when they wanted to know what happened next. Yes, I'm pilfering my college stuff. But only the good ones. It's amusing with the change of scenery to be thrown in since the apartment complex is in LA. Brings a whole new element to all of them.

Okay, so far I've got
Apartment 1: The Exotic Dancers Next Door, I blame this idea completely on a night out watching a friend's band with Superwoman, the awesomeness that is Barb and Slim Shady in which there literally were exotic dancers next door.

2: Sketch and Edit, which I have plenty of. Though I feel like I should reformat them so they'll fit in with the rest of the story. But then I can't cause they wouldn't be Sketch and Edit.
Though I really don't need to since each story is different in formatting, person, tense, and all that jazz. The only reason I'm tying them all together in the first place is because I'm making them all live in the same apartment building that gets mentioned at least once in each story and then I'll bring them together in the end when I either decide to burn down the building from the kid in apartment 7's mad science experiment, or when the tenants in 4 and 8 get married. But I'm still deciding on the end. Like I said, work in progress.

3: Kris's awkward 4th of July experience entitled "Oh What a Tangled Web We Weave", this is the one from college everyone wants me to add to. But it's hard as I like it the way it is. So did the prof, she said read the whole thing through because she was so into it, then had to go back and make comments.

4: Is a chick in love with the dude in apartment 8. They have their own balcony scene, it's a comedy go with it.

5: This is Lindsay, she breaks up a wedding, confusion ensues.

6: Jake lives here, he moved here from a rural town after, well, okay the only clue I'm giving you with this story is that it's entitled "One Headlight" turn on some Wallflowers and you'll figure it out. It's the only one of them so far that's completely emotional and not funny at all.

7: The insane teenager living with his mom. The first scene takes place at the shrink's office after he punched the lights out of the school bully.

8: The landscaper by day, waiter by night who has bad luck in love until he meets the upstairs neighbor in apartment 4. Balcony scene included.

9: Is Jax. He's an assassin. This is the sole story that's actually finished. And that's only because I can absolutely not add anything more to it's ending. If I do it will screw over the entire story. Inspiration for that one came after I got smashed by an idiot at an intersection, which is funny because the car crash scene is just a mere page compared to the rest of it. Anyway, so there was that but I also got it from a story we read in college about an office building, each person there had their own story - sound familiar? almost like an apartment complex, hmm - one of them was a serial killer. Everyone knew but he didn't kill any of them so they didn't care. Jax is a bit more discreet about it so they're not aware.

10: Thomas Family. Mom, Dad, Teenage Girl, Tween Boy. Teenage girl has a thing for a library boy. That's as far as I've gotten. But at least it's written down!

So yes, they're completely different stories about completely different people in completely different writing styles, and maybe it's a completely stupid idea but I'm up for the challenge. and it keeps me entertained.

But it's ongoing, so I'll keep you posted.

Alright, music rec's of the night, let's see. We went with sacred yesterday so let's throw in some silly. I live my life behind the tab. Sorry, obscure camp reference, I get those daily.
Speaking of obscure references, I quoted Caddyshack today and pretty sure no one had any idea what I was talking about.
Superwoman said I should help out with the TAB program at one of the branches in January and I said, "Oh, Das all I need! Tanks for nuthin' Danny Noonan!" and got nothing.
Not surprising, there's a lot of quotes that float around in my head throughout the day, I'm sure half of them are obscure enough to only be recognized by hard-core fans of either Friends, Charmed, or Just Shoot Me.

Moving on.

Christmas Music that Doesn't Suck: Day Six

"Sleigh Ride" She and Him

i cannot pimp this album any more, it's fantastic, buy it! or check it out! somewhere! this is one of the few songs in which he actually does vocals. and i'm not talking few on this album, i mean few period. it's usually just Zooey, which is fine as and she is fantastic, but it's cool to hear his voice as well.

"You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch"

classic movie is the best, no offense to jim carrey, who's also fantastic but not as fantastic as boris karloff. i watch it every christmas and read the book, though i have them both memorized.
oh my god, just saw this and loved it. You're a Mean One, Emperor Palpatine and the dark side really does wonders for your complexion.

"Jingle Bell Rock" Brenda Lee

while Bobby Helms version is good as well, I like this one better. or i could have posted the Mean Girls version, but that just makes me laugh.

"Deck the Rooftop" Glee Cast

so, if you were ever in a dire place in life when you couldn't choose between "up on the housetop" and "deck the halls" you could simply turn on this mashup.

OUT!

And if the world stops spinning I'm not afraid to fall...

Yes, I know, I'm sorry I skipped last night.

To be fair I was exhausted.

Worked 9-6 and sat down a total of four times throughout the whole day. We were that busy. But there was only two of us, and we were closed the previous two days so we had all this material coming in and going out, plus the shelves were a mess, and the displays, I seriously was sitting at the desk for maybe an hour total and I was there 9-6. I mean, I was at the desk, just not having a chance to sit. Cause there were people all over.

To make a long story short, too late, I was tired so I turned on Sherlock and konked out. or attempted to. Then fell asleep watching the Husker game, which I had taped and need to delete cause I'm running out of space for HD stuff. I'll have to switch it over to regular definition. Is that was they call it? as opposed to high definition?

I remember this one line from "Red Green" was anybody else forced to watch that with their parents? where he says, "What good is high def when you're half deaf and half blind?!"

Today was pretty busy as well. 11:35-6, computer lab was packed, phone ringing off the hook, but it was a good day. It slowed down on occasion so that was nice, but it wasn't so slow that I was going bananas. Bonus points.

Tonight I'm thinking....food. I need to eat. and then...go through my DVR and weed out stuff I've seen....then...I should write some more. Cause I have some ideas, and if I don't put them down they'll go away.

Which I blame on ZH.

Not the ideas going away, no the process of putting everything down.

It's called a Shitty First Draft. and I'm not coining that, it's already been coined. In writing - of course - but it's actually a chapter in a book we had to read in college. I was amused. It basically says that your first drafts will always be crap compared to the final results. But it's an opportunity to put everything down. It doesn't have to make sense, it doesn't have to go anywhere, as long as it's down on paper you can come back to it later. or delete it later. It gives you that option.

So, I carry quotebooks, and write stuff in my green notebook - I've started doing that, calling them "simple scenes" and adding them into stories later. Most of them have absolutely nothing to do with the characters I'm currently working on, but it's a good exercise and I can throw them into stories later. or come up with new ones based around the scene.

Did I mention I was a nerd about writing? If I could I would just do that. But, as all writers are at times, I'm cursed with writer's block at the moment. on most of my big stories. Hence the quotebooks and scenes notebook. Anything else I can write about I will, but when it comes to an ongoing story, I've got nothing. Which is crap. and backwards of how I want it to be.

Perhaps I should start putting stuff on here. But that would be an effort on my part.

More than just the copy and paste function.

I have this thing, where I'm a perfectionist. and I hate everything I've written. I think it's all crap. I've been told it's not on multiple occasions by multiple people, but I still think it's crap. Because I just have this urge to go back and fix things, or change the storyline completely.

So, submitting anything on here, would mean I'd have to actually find something good enough to share with people, and other than Sketch and Edit, I've really got nothing of that calliber finished. Actually, I don't know that I've ever actually finished a story because of this compulsion. I keep going back and deleting stuff. or I'll get bored with it and move on to another, completely putting that one on the backburner even though I'd worked on it for months, years. There are stories on my computer that I started in 2002 and I still haven't finished. and it's not like I'm writing novels. My longest is maybe 50 pages.

But, like I said, perfectionist.

So, you get Sketch and Edit's, which reminds me that I have a couple of those actually ready to post. Sort of. Compulsion strikes again. I need to sign off of here so I can work on those and post them later.

Okay.

Enough rambling.

Food then writing. Maybe I'll turn on the Husker game in the background since I fell asleep mid first quarter. Even though I have seen it entirely already.

Silence messes with my head. Hence the headphones.

Alphabet Rec's
Since I skipped last night you get G's and H's. Have fun.

"Goodnight Sweetheart Goodnight" The McGuire Sisters

used to sing this over the phone to an ex at night, but that was back when i still had a voice. i'm out of practice now.

"Girl Next Door" Saving Jane

good song. and amusing, since this one actually came out before Taylor Swift's "You Belong With Me" hmm....similar lyrics. I like them both.

"Have It All" Jeremy Kay (acoustic version)

"Scrubs" soundtrack
i really really really like this one. if you're going to watch only one choose this one

"Heroes" The Wallflowers

cause i like their version the best. even over the original, sorry bowie. c'mon, it's dylan's son, just go with it. he's got talent.
aannd it's another soundtrack song, this time "Godzilla" hence the destruction in the background, however I know it from "The Replacements" an excellent football movie. Keanu rocks. so does Jon Favreau. He's in front of the camera this time, instead of behind it. You should look into it, it's a fantastic comedy/drama/sports movie.

Honorable mentions: "Give In To Me" another soundtrack this time Country Strong
and "Head Over Heels" by April McLean. fantastic song that i would have posted but couldn't find it on youtube.

Joys of Small Town Nebraska

I got caught up in the joy that is writing.

What's sad is that it's unusual at this point in my life. I don't really have time for it, so when I do - like tonight - it's pretty much all I can focus on. Anyway, I looked at my clock and went, crap. It's almost midnight. I should probably post something.

I'm working more on the Jake and Lindsay piece mentioned here: My Life in Closed Captions: This is a week of my favorite things Day Five: Hob...

And working in some of the quirks of small towns. I happen to come from one. 2500 population. If we're lucky. But we do have some badass church softball teams who keep things exciting. (I probably shouldn't use those words back to back, that looks bad.) That's really the only time I make it back there for, other than random family shenanigans. But driving through town every time I'm there brings it all back.

-The Dairy Queen knockoff that shuts down every winter and gets a new owner every summer.

-The two main gas stations in town right across the street from each other in a war over who can have the cheapest gas prices, knowing that the crazy out-of-towners - who scarcely drive through now that the highway got bypassed - think the nearest gas station after that is 8 miles out. (there's another one in town that no one knows exists. except my mom.) Doesn't really matter to me as I have a gas card. Which is probably one of the many reasons why my parents are glad I moved out of town. Joking, I love you. Don't take my gas card away.

-The tire and auto-repair shop oh-so-professionally called "Ralph's". They can fix anything. And they pretty much had to with my old car.

-The lone hotel in town which, similar to the Dairy Queen knockoff, is under new ownership and changes its name almost every year. (Though it will forever be known as the "Goldenrod") AND! if you happen to stay there - I believe it now goes by "Geneva Inn" - and you see a sign claiming they will file legal action against you if you clean poultry in the bathroom (actually it will probably just say "please refrain from cleaning chickens in the sink" but i like my version better) blame my sister. That was all her.

Not the cleaning of the chickens in the sink.

The cleaning up of the cleaning of the chickens in the sink. Apparently it wasn't all that pleasant. Who knew?

AND! for the love of all things library, PLEASE take a picture of the sign and upload it on here. I'm tempted to go stay there just to see if it still exists.

-The joy that is driving 20 miles to get to the nearest superstore. That's hidden behind the chinese place. No, not that chinese place, across the street from that chinese place. Yes, there are two chinese places battling in front of a Walmart. I support the original. Though my dad kept its competition open for like a year.

-The actual joy of moving to a big city and realizing that Pizza Hut's actually do deliver - it's not just in the movies! And AND!! things are open past 8PM. NO WAY!?

There are many more joys of living in Small Town Nebraska, especially that one in particular that have gone unmentioned. I'm sure I'll think of more along the way and post them when I remember to. If you can think of any more send them my way. I'm all for the anecdotes in stories. They make it more entertaining.

Alright, I'm out to write some more before I crash and burn. I don't start until afternoon tomorrow. Afternoon! I might actually get to sleep in? I don't know if I'll be able to pull it off. Maybe I'll do what I did Monday, turn on SVU and lay on my couch.

Back to the Midwest Theme, working my way down the US. Yesterday it was Nebraska and Kansas, today you get Oklahoma and Texas. Will have to hop up after these ones.

"Oklahoma" big surprise there

cry everytime i watch this movie. "did he just really ma'am her in a proposal?!" i remember when they did it in high school. i was still shy enough at that point that i didn't try out for anything drama-related. i stepped up sophomore year.

"Texas Was You"

literally the only song of his i can stand. sorry sketch.

Um, those lyrics are crappy. -LM

I love that upstairs in the lab we have three chairs for the two people to choose from. And some of us have our designated chairs. But it's nice because if you screw with the settings on one and can't fix it then you have a backup. Unfortunately, my preference of the chairs hates me. Although today was not my fault. Someone, I ain't saying who, put the chair super short and apparently I'm not smart enough or the chair hates me enough that I can mess with it for half an hour and it will won't go back up to its regular position - yet the second, and I mean the second, that Slim Shady sits in it, she can do it and it's fine. What the crap? Seriously. I was helping patrons so I was distracted but seriously like half an hour. And of course in that half an hour when you're helping the patrons you sit down in the chair every once in a while, and forget that it's that low so you look like an idiot when you like flail all the way down. Then they laugh so it's a good conversation starter, but whatever. So maybe it's not my fault I'm social! I can blame it on someone else. Don't call me social. That's just mean. I'm not social. Am I? Really? When did that change over? I think that's part of the whole actress/librarian theory.

This section may bring out what Sketch enjoys referring to as "B-Poc" aka Bitter and Pissed Off CK. I'm not really B or PO but the rambling may turn ranting so if you're a fan of either Katy Perry or The Band Perry I'd skip this section.

So, I'm jamming on my way to the farmhouse today like jamming to good music and I hit this lull with "If I Die Young" by The Band Perry. They're a good band, you know as a group of siblings and all that and I like their music, and the beginning to this song is awesome and I could listen to that by itself but really? You end it with "they're worth so much more after i'm a goner." "funny when you're dead how people start listening?" It's more like a teenager's cry for help. Which is okay, I guess. But she's like 28.

Plus it doesn't make sense. You started with "If I die young" then you end with "funny when you're dead how people start listening." But you're not dead. How do you know they're listening? Did you die somewhere between this point and the first verse? I think I got distracted by all the "Sharp knife of a short life"s you're throwing at us.

I got this one for free off iTunes back when they were still "who?"

"Who would have thought forever would be severed by the sharp knife of a short life". Um, you? You're the one putting forth this hypothetical situation.

They do redeem themselves with this one:

You Lie

this one is a jam out one, and shows off her vocal skills so it's much better.
I give them a 8/10, I think it's just the one song that gets to me. It just happens to be the number one hit that plays every other song.

Like I said, B-Poc. So, moving on.

Listening to the first one just reminded me of the fireworks show after the game last night. There's mandatory music that's usually something patriotic or pop-ish or whatever, this time they hit up with Britney Spears and Katy Perry. You know, America's poster girls? I like Katy Perry, I think she's great and really branched out and all that,
But no Katy, I never feel like a plastic bag drifting through the wind wanting to start again.
Is it just me that cringes at that line? (I do that at both sections of TBP mentioned above as well) I mean, the refrain is great and dance-worthy, but really? Does that have to be your first line? Doesn't that make people change stations?
But like I said, I like her and she's got some great music. It amuses me even more that her parents are ministers. They always said that PK's were the most rebellious. Almost as bad as us TK's.

Firework

While the rest of the lyrics aren't all that grand either it's catchy so it's toxic.

So, Oldest Sister thinks the phrase "introduce you to" one of my characters is funny since they're fake so you really can't meet them, except that you can. And I figured it out. She's more the pro at nonfiction with all the computer manual stuff and the comedic life moments and stuff whereas I just suck at all things nonfiction. This blog should be proof of that. Fiction is my forte so my characters are important to me.
I laugh when they laugh, I'm sad when they're sad, I help them get ready in the mornings and put them to bed at night. I'm there with them when something terrific or tragic happens. So yes, they're real to me. And I enjoy introducing people to them. Unless they suck, then no.

Alright, today was a long day and tomorrow's gonna be more post-camp stuff so B-Poc is signing out. LM

Ghetto Superstar, that is what you are

Don't you hate it when you pack up a bunch of DVD's and books and stuff that are due but you forget they're in your bag so you totally don't drop them off even though you watched them like weeks ago but you keep forgetting to pack them and then when you finally don't forget you end up forgetting that you for once didn't forget so you forget to put them in the slot? Did that make sense?

...
....
...

close enough.

I'm getting fines cause I keep forgetting. Oh well, I'll take care of them later.

Totally stoked for Charlie's Angels the new series produced by Drew Barrymore, huzzah! Starting up on the 22nd of September which I guess is the 35th anniversary of the original series - take that Mom! I must be good since it's lasted that long! She makes fun of me cause I love it. So does Sketch, but whatever. The cheesy stunts and the too-loud music just adds to the show's dynamic of comedy, action, and more comedy. Cheesefest style.
"It's not the wilderness, Bosely."
So, from what I can tell, other than Drew's company Flower Films producing it they have the three angels - which to me are completely unknowns except for the blonde who played Lucy Fields on Grey's this past year.
And it's completely different - the chicks aren't all cops who were tired of the boring daily life, one was a thief, one was a dirty cop and the other was a carjacker and it's like Charlie is giving them a second chance or something.
Bosely is some dude who was in Battle Los Angeles, Robert Wagner was going to do the voice of Charlie but there was some sort of conflict there so I don't know if he's still attached to the project. But it will be Thursday nights on ABC like right before Grey's at 7.

here, watch this:

It looks a bit short-lived. Hopefully the series will be better than the previews.

This pilot is supposed to have Dina Meyer in it - aka Holly Snow from NCIS, Lady Irina from Castle, and Kate Miller from Friends. you know, the one that doesn't like Joey back, his costar who makes fun of him cause he couldn't open a carton of milk on an infomercial, then they're friends and they stay up talking and then she ditches him for LA? You know? maybe not. you have lives. I forget that sometimes.

"Everything" Michael Buble Live at Madison Square Garden

You're every line, you're every word, you're everything.
love all the accents. but the beginning of that song sounds too much like this song:

"Ghetto Superstar" Pras feat. Mya

cameo central.
so i sing that instead. even though this one is based off of this:

Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers "Islands in the Stream"

stick with it to the refrain, then you'll get it.

Had a burrito for supper, it was awesome. Think I'm gonna start going there more often. They have green tea too so I give them a thumbs up. Scale of Awesome says 9/10. Was nice, got off at 5 then started season one of 24. I'm still up in the air about that one. At this point I could take it or leave it. It's not all that intriguing and I'm kind of like, do I really need another series? I've got Six Feet Under waiting for me on the shelf plus all the ones I actually watch, if this one isn't interesting why put up with the 80 millions seasons it went through? Scale of Awesome says 5/10. I like some of the storylines but others are just stupid and I want them to move in. Which they don't. There are like 8 different storylines going at once. And it's 24 cause it's like 24 hours a day. Each episode is an hour in the day and it's like that for a whole season so like season 2 would be 24 hours of the next day. So, if there were like 8 seasons, which I think is what it was, but don't bet on that I don't really like the show so it's a total guess, it would just be 8 days total.

HA! There were 8, Aces!!

love that. "Have you seen these? You write important messages on them then affix them to objects. Aces!"
3 guesses as to who said that. Post-its, she's talking about post-its. Didn't know people could get that excited about post-its, but you should have seen my dorm rooms in college. Whenever I went on a writing binge they were hung all over the walls along with pictures of the characters and notes about their quirks, possible storylines and all that. I'm a nerd. I pick a character name then google for images on what I think they might look like, print them off and hang them up. Haven't had a chance to do that yet in my new apartment, it might look awkward in the living room, people see that room. Granted anyone who actually enters the room already knows about my crazy but for the maintenance people who occasionally visit, they don't need to know all about the crazy.

It is about time though - not for the crazy but for the pictures and all. Need to get back into the apartment story. I actually worked on that a little tonight just character names and ideas for each apartment.

alright, split shift tomorrow. gotta clean the apartment as well. out!

Just Say No! to vending machine orange juice.

Seriously. I had my poptart so I got a bottle of orange juice from the vending machine and spent the day drowning out the taste with Dr. Pepper and gum. Gross. Bitter Central. Yikes.

So, I've found that working in public service has killed my phone-talking skills. Not that I had any to begin with, but like parents will call with questions about camp and I'll say something like "Can I help you with anything else" which just sounds awkward and geeky over the phone, but I'm so used to saying it at work that it just comes out. I guess it's better than "Can I help you find anything else?" which wouldn't really make sense over the phone. There's a reason I keep my phone conversations between my family and Sketch. They already know I'm awkward and geeky.

Speaking of awkward and geeky:
"Where you'll see....ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Because Carmen stole all 162 stones that make up this ancient ruin known as Stonehenge!" Where On Earth is Carmen San Diego isn't as good as the regular series/game aka Where in the World is... Mostly because the Chief is a dude instead of you know, Lynne Thigpen.

She's my definition of the Chief. Other than my best friend growing up. Who I still call Chief. But that's another story.
"Things are getting yucky in Kentucky!" I got the TV series from the library because I like the game. But, much like any of the Super Mario Bros. movies, it's just not the same. It'll go back tomorrow, along with all the other movies I finally watched this weekend.
Now all that's left are "Justified" "Heathers" "The Match Game" "Andy Richter..." and of course "The Wizard of Oz." But, I have tomorrow night as well. Think I'll stick in Warehouse 13 season two instead. I always get distracted with my own stuff.

Today I was all day at the same place and the same for tomorrow. After that is my day off! Which means Camp central aka emailing dude about t-shirt designs, going over new registrations, printing out more forms cause I ran out, printing off all the nametags and shoving them into the lanyards which we'll have to clean out....what else? Oh, going through the trailer. Cause we keep putting that off. Technically we were going to do it last time but we couldn't find the key. Oh and I have to figure out a second lifeguard. Cause one member of the dynamic duo can't make it. Fun times. Oh and the skits. Which of course I haven't started. Who writes those things in advance? I mean, seriously? I think best at 2AM night before. You know, when I'm already there and freaking out because I haven't done them yet. Maybe if I write them beforehand and they don't suck I will post them on here. But don't be surprised if they do suck.

Last year I wrote a decent one - which I would post but it's too long - called "Rapunzel: The Early Years" and it kind of demands a sequel. But I don't know. I'll ask M and see if she'd be interested in seeing it continued as it was her cabin that did it. They got pretty into it, it was amusing actually. "Oh no, I've been sabotaged by a Demon Radish!" This year I only have 3 8th grade girls, so I'd either have to pilfer some of the 7th graders or make the teen helpers do it. We'll see. That got pretty long. And "The Later Years" would be even longer cause you'd have to do the highlights version of "The Early Years" all over again. Like "Previously on Rapunzel, The Life and Times"...

Father - Let’s melt her with water!
Ogre - Good idea!
Mother - Take your squirt gun.
*Sneak to Witch’s house*
Ogre - Singing telegram!
Witch - Singing telegram for me?
*Squirt witch with water*
Witch - You fools! Water does nothing to me! That only works in the movies! There’s nothing you can do! A deal is a deal! Once it’s born, your child will be mine! Mwahahaha!
All - DUN DUN DUNNNN……..
Human - Oh no! She can’t get the child! What kind of ending is that?!
All - Tune in next year for Rapunzel: The Later Years

and then it'd be what like

"19 years later..."
...
....
...

What exactly did Rapunzel do in that tower? I mean, she could only brush her hair for so long... and she couldn't reach all of it, right? So...maybe the Witch became her teacher or something. Tried to teach her the ways of evil but she resisted. She was just too good to do any evil. That's why she locked her in tower!!! No, that's dumb. Umm.... I'm stuck. Email me ideas. You're clever.

And I can't even use my trick! I freaking sabotaged myself! Stupid Demon Radish! Not you M. You're awesome. Just the, you know the, essence of De- I don't know. Curses, foiled again.
See, I have this trick for Writer's Block that goes like this.
It's called "Firsts" - you take the characters and write their First something. Like their first meeting, or their first date, or their first time on a rollercoaster, etc.
But it has to be a First because when you think about it, all good stories are about some sort of First. If people only wrote about what people do everyday with no variation or first time for something or sense of not knowing what's going to happen then all the stories would suck. There has to be some element of "First" in every good story. Which sounds semi-cheesy, I know. But it works for me. Cause it sparks story ideas.

BUT! In this case! I can't use it! Because I already wrote the ultimate freakin' First for this story. I guess I could do like the First time they visited the tower. Or the first time the witch left her alone inside of it. The First time some dude tried to climb up her hair. Okay, plenty of firsts. Maybe one of them will spark something permanent. Off I go. Trying to write while watching Warehouse in the background. One of those won't last very long. Wow. check out the W's in that sentence. write while watching warehouse...okay.
I've lost it.
I need to sign out and start on the freakin' skits.
Or the apartment thing. If you have no idea what I'm talking about go here: My Life in Closed Captions: Choot 'em LizBet!
Oh, I thought up more fun tenants.
And one of them is an assassin. So that's exciting. That was another part of the original inspiration, besides the Exotic Dancers next door jokes. We read this story in Fiction Writing about this office building and it bounced from person to person and one of them is a serial killer. They all know but he hasn't killed any of them so they're fine with it.

this is starting to get super long. if you're still around here are you music rec's for the night:

Just because I can. Don't hurt me tomorrow.

"Spice Up Your Life" - Spice Girls

"We've got a deal!" I love 0:26 and 2:15. Yes that is MeatLoaf dancing at 1:12, and Alan Cumming at 2:11 and James Bond at 2:19.

"I Want You Back" - NSync

90's must have been a space craze - the music video for the song above also involves space ships.

Goodnight Gumshoes!

PS - Oldest Sister started a blog. Wonder where she got that idea? I think I'm toast.

Choot 'em LizBet!

Wow. A day off. So this is what that feels like.
It was an awesome one, hung around the apartment, ate breakfast for lunch/dinner, watched a Harry Potter marathon. Carter and I jammed out and napped on the couch. Plus I did some writing. I've started on a new story and am thinking about linking it to one of my old ones that I'm stuck on.

Basically, the idea is to write a group of short stories or one long story about an apartment building. Not like the physical building but the people who live in it. Like one story will be about one apartment and the next will be about their neighbors and just move on and then somehow bring them together in the end. Maybe it'll be crap but it's just an idea. And I'm blaming it on Superwoman since the idea originated from all the "Exotic Dancers next door" jokes from when we went to see our friend's band play at a bar.
Go here for my favorite of their songs: My Life in Closed Captions: Can I Keep You - Some Assembly Required plus a list of a bunch of library goddess quotes. Ha!

Anyway, there were exotic dancers in the bar next door so we made jokes and it just makes me wonder about my neighbors. Maybe I do have exotic dancers next door. Cause really, what do you really know about your neighbors? I've talked to maybe one of them. And I've been here over a year.

I'm still debating if I want to link it to my old story. I mean, I could, cause they live in an apartment and it's a story all about them. So I could start on one about their neighbors. Maybe. I don't know. But it's kind of cool mapping out an apartment and deciding who lives in the building and what might be going on in their lives. Or maybe it'll be dumb. I'll keep you posted. I still have no idea how I'll bring them all together in the end. Maybe I'll burn the place down. No, that'd just be mean.

I'm watching Swamp People with Dad. It's sad, I'm hooked. What's more sad?...I've seen all the episodes on the DVR. Now I'm re-watching them. It's just so like just whoa. You know? Like, I could never do that. Ever. And I know that the show is ridiculous, but I still can't help but stare.

Music of the day:

when all else fails do the time warp again.

Glee does the Time Warp from Rocky Horror

and Damnit Janet

quits halfway thru but is still hysterical.
love the three in the background, almost as good as the original. janet....janet....janet....awesome.

Alright, gonna hit the sack soon since tomorrow's gonna be camp central. Forms, assignments, t-shirts and possibly cleaning out the trailer.

Return of the Writer-Monkey

Castle-ism... It was either that or "Frog and Toad are Friends". yeah, no reason behind that one other than I saw it on the shelf today. At least this title is relevant.
Writer monkey has returned with a vengeance. New ideas for old stories and I'm breakin' 'em out. I guess that's what happens when I'm shelving and get ideas...now that I have free time! Or I do for the rest of the week. Monday is camp central and after that all my free time will be gone. So, I'm enjoying it while it's here. Watching CSI and the CWS - picked up The Closer season six from Target as it came out today. Lovin' life. It's awesome. Next week that may change.

For some weird reason getting inspired to write apparently doesn't tranfer to here. Cause I have no idea what to write about tonight. Split shift - between I got my license updated, yay dmv?, hit up target for groceries, laid around with my big fat cat, then went back to work. And my phone is all wonky. Those are my highlights.

Gonna write/watch CWS 'til I konk out. Totally sad Vandy lost this morning. But both Texas teams are headed home. When we were leaving it seemed to be drunken Texas fan central. And though some of my best ex's are actually from Texas I still will never root for them. Texas that is. A&M is okay on occasion. Except when they're beating us even though we should have smoked them. Guess we don't have to worry about that so much anymore with the change in conference. Go Huskers!

One for tonight:

"Killing Me Softly" the Fugees

definitely in my top 10 favorite songs of all time.

And because I find these amusing:

Baby, the World Spins Madly On

The world has righted itself. Well, most of it. Life is good again, I think. I mean, I only had to "wave" once today, so hopefully the rest of the posts this week won't be as sad and depressing as those of the last couple of days.
Work today was good, I actually accomplished things between shifts aka paid bills, ordered boots for wedding - yes cowboy boots going to be a fun one - registered for a class in the fall, emailed my grad prof who was apparently looking for me yesterday, and wrote! Which was shocking. I've had this idea in my head for a while, not a Sketch and Edit, but a story I've been working on off and on since Fiction Writing senior year of college. And even though I really don't have time for it - which is when inspiration usually strikes - I wrote it anyway.

I still have yet to get ahold of book #2 which I need to read by at least Friday. I think it should be here tomorrow - I'm keeping track of it postage-wise - and if it's not I'm going to Barnes and Noble tomorrow afternoon. I only work 'til 4 so I can pick it up and read it all tomorrow night.

Thursday is the play - there will be plenty of "waving" for that. They had a trackmeet today so no school which means no practice which means tomorrow is going to have to be hardcore. And hardcore as it will be I won't be present since I'm working. I'm feeling more of like a consultant than a director. Which sucks. Cause I liked directing the thing with Nic. But Nic deserves all the credit, as usual, because she's a fantastic teacher, and I'm excited for Thursday. It's at like 5 - or the thing starts at 5 - it also includes awards night and food. It's sad cause usually Amber Squared aka BFF and Schwartz - even though she's married now and isn't actually Schwartz anymore she will forever be called Schwartz - come and watch but this year they won't make it.
I usually bring them candy so I'll have to pick something up tomorrow afternoon or on the way there Thursday. I'm headed out right after work then we'll have a final practice and send them home.

Michael Bublé and Sharon Jones - "Baby (You've Got What It Takes)"

gotta love it. although i think he should actually sing into the microphone instead of just dancing with the stand - that's a little awkward.

The Weepies - "World Spins Madly On"

Another great indie group, similar style as She & Him and Rilo Kiley
and a cool video as well

Alright, out for the night. Have a good one.

What if the Hokey Pokey really IS what it's all about?

Like really? What would that say about life?

Hooray for a split shift! Went in twice and spent the time between writing. Which I miss immensely. But working in public service is always good for inspiration and humor.
Got to work with Space Cadet again tonight. She called me dirt. Then said I'm below dirt, mining for minerals. It's not as bad as it sounds when it's in context of what we were talking about, but out of context is what I gave her crap for. It's funny because two days ago she called me her kid - we matched with like the same color green shirts jeans and red hair as did the QofA we should have taken a group picture - then earlier tonight she called me a wizkid and then like ten minutes later I was dirt. But it's worth it cause now I get to say "She called me dirt...." in a sad voice every time I see her.

The song of the day I listened to repeatedly while writing more adventures of Sketch and Edit. It's like relaxing, I love the deep voice. It zenned me out. So I'm posting it. This one came out last year. He's probably wildly popular - like I said, I don't listen to the radio - but I do enjoy this song.

Lover, Lover by Jerrod Niemann
