I could write a blog. I have thoughts.

My librarian's spicy under-layer.

Damnit, I don't wanna cheer for Omaha!

I was informed today by Alicia Teaze - aka one of the managers of the awesomeness that is the No Coast Derby Girls who also happens to be a librarian at the university - that my favorite (well, everyone's favorite) skater Flash Gloria has transferred.

Not only did she transfer, but she transferred to the enemy.

Damnit.

All my favorite jammers leave...

First there was Busty St. Claire - she opened a flower shop.

Then it was Lt. Slamher - she went overseas for the army.

But I knew I could always rely on Flash because she was MVP every year and we were dominating so why would she ever leave?

Our record is like 59-17 for gods sake, WHY WOULD YOU LEAVE?!

It's giving me physical pain.

Damnit, I don't wanna cheer for Omaha!

I know this may seem over-dramatic to you, but it's really not. If you knew how big of a fan I am you'd understand.

Is it weird that my favorite sports are roller derby and ice hockey?

When did that happen?

I mean, I'm head over heels for Husker football, that's always been there and always will be, but when did roller derby and ice hockey beat out basketball and baseball?

And then the only sports I play anymore are softball and golf.

Though golf isn't really a sport and technically I only do it like twice a year so it doesn't count.

We're well-inebriated for most of it anyway.

Where was I?

So yeah, Flash is leaving. Left already, actually. There's a bout tonight but I couldn't stomach going.

Totally bummed out.

Damnit, I don't wanna cheer for Omaha!

Okay, distract me. What else was I gonna ramble about?

Oh, inservice!

Every year all of the libraries in our system shut down for a day and we have a staff training day we call Inservice.

This year's was at the hospital - which meant I got to jam out with Juwanna afterward, woohoo!

It was alright, not my favorite, but it had its moments.

Here are a few of my favorites:

"I know about your librarian's spicy under-layer....let your freak flag fly."

"Never underestimate the power of a slightly inappropriate book...Captain Underpants is my gateway drug."

"Think about how much time you spend managing your boobs." *all of the men's mouths drop after viewing a particular slide*

"Do anything to combat that stress?"
"I'm drinking more....running, drinking, not at the same time..."

"Banning? This happens at the library?!" *room erupts....no our patrons are all perfect angels*

Oh and we also learned that if you vary your clapping speed it makes it sound like there's more people in the audience. Apparently a tip our director picked up after attending many of her late husband's gigs.

Our table had fun. Basically the same group as last year. I sat between the Queen of Awesome and the Queen of the Known Universe.

Talk about feeling inadequate...they're queens and i'm like...not.

This year's focus was all about health and wellness - hence the hospital location. We talked about physical and a little bit of mental stuff and how our health affects how we deal with patrons so we should always be at our best, etc. etc.

A bunch of us went out for Mexican at lunch. Had a big table. We counted the vegetables so we didn't feel so bad about that whole day of health awareness thing. Does cactus count as a vegetable? What is cactus anyway?

After all the lectures and our director's speech I met up with Juwanna in the entryway - introduced her to a couple of the essentials, Queen of the Known Universe and Superwoman. They wanted all the dirt, but she's smarter than that cause I have dirt too.

Was cool to catch up, we're gonna have a girls night soon.

After that Queen of the Known Universe and I hit up Barnes and Noble. She had to pick up a movie and I had to buy Attachments.

Have I rambled about Attachments yet?

I'm pretty sure I have but you're gonna get it again.

Attachments by Rainbow Rowell.

It's about a dude who works in IT at basically the Omaha World Herald and it's his job to flag personal emails and people who are gambling and all that and he runs across this series of personal emails between these two women - Beth and Jennifer - and gets caught up in their story so he doesn't flag them. Then Beth starts talking about this hot guy at work and it turns out to be him so he joins a gym and all that. It's just hysterical.

Beth is me.

You roll your eyes but it's true.

She talks like me. She says stuff I've said and would say in situations. She acts like I do in situations. She's in love with a guy works the night shift. Etc.

I'm pretty sure Rainbow Rowell just followed me around a took notes. A fact that I tweeted her about and she favorited it!

So who knows, maybe she did. She is a local.

Nebraska Pride.

Anyway, I keep reading sections of it over and over cause I'm hooked.

But that's a problem with me, I get so hooked on fictional characters and once they're gone I get totally bummed out and need an immediate replacement.

Luckily I have a bunch of editing I can do to fix that.

I always get hooked on them.

BUT READ ATTACHMENTS. It's fantastic. And it's available at your local library so you don't even have to pay for it.

Alright, gonna skim through it again for the 100th time then get back to my editing and crash.

It's been a long weekend and it's only Saturday.

Songs of the Day:

I'm starting a new music segment called Why don't people know this song?

It will feature fantastic songs - probably made up mostly of indie music - that people should know but they don't know.

Here's a classic.

Stuck in the Middle With You - Dawn and Hawkes vs. Josh Murley

Originally by Stealers Wheel and featured in the Tarantino movie Reservoir Dogs but not nearly popular enough. Some describe it as Bob Dylan-ish but I love it.

BTW Dawn and Hawkes may win the battle but Josh does get stolen by Shakira.

Speaking of The Voice, my top twenty are still kickin' butt. Let's take a look.

Voice Top 20
Christina Grimmie - Adam
Bria Kelly - Usher
Sisaundra Lewis - Blake
Dawn and Hawkes - Adam
Brothers Walker - Usher - eliminated in battles

Cierra Mickens - Shakira - lost to Emily, stolen by Usher
Clarissa Serna - Shakira
Audra McLaughlin - Blake
Cary Laine - Adam - eliminated in battles
TJ Wilkins - Usher

Alaska and Madi - Blake - eliminated in battles
Delvin Choice - Adam
Ddendyl - Shakira
Sam Behymer - Adam
Paula Deanda - Blake - eliminated in battles

Kaleigh Glanton - Blake
Jake Worthington - Blake
Madilyn Paige - Usher
Emily B - Shakira
Kat Perkins - Adam

Rockin' it.

Alright, here's another Song You Should Know and then I'm out.

Everything - Michael Buble

not as well known, but excellent melody and lyrics

If your neighbor's not laughing explain that joke to him.

Ah inservice.

So, a lot of us were worried, because there was just one speaker like the whole day.

Normally we do breakout sessions so there's no time to get bored cause they're each like half an hour.

But with a guest speaker, and the same speaker all day, if they suck, then you're screwed.

Surprisingly, the chick rocked.

For serious.

And apparently, according to a branch manager, reminded her of me.

So perhaps that's why I thought she rocked.

But no, she was great, very funny, very engaging, didn't stand in the front and speak at us ever, she was always in the crowd walking through, cracking jokes.

And she definitely changed my perspective on poverty vs. middle class.

The short version is that in poverty what matters most is relationships while in middle class it's more about achievement. Once you understand that then you are better able to help people.

Sat with the Queen of Awesome, Mentor, Queen of the Known Universe, Music Librarian, Awesome Aide, Super Librarian Status and some other cool people. We jammed in the back, close to the food and the exit.

We had some killer snacks. I ate a lot of bagels with flavored cream cheese.

Went to lunch with the Queen of Awesome. Ate some barbecue, had a brisket, it was awesome. Fries and coleslaw. We finished early so we went back and played cards.

See, see what would happen if I cleaned out my car?

Again, usage of the board game box.

Take that everyone who keeps telling me to clean it out! That's like 3 times since camp.

So there.

Anyway, we played Go Fish and Old Maid - which she had never played before - she kicked my butt, beginner's luck. Then Queen of the Known Universe and I played Kings on the Corner. We left it tied 1-1 so next week it's gonna be on man.

Yet to be decided what the loser has to do. We'll think of something.

Some quotes of the day include one from Boss's Boss's Boss: "I get to follow hand sanitizer..."

and then the rest from our Guest Speaker:
-"If your neighbor's not laughing explain that joke to him."
-"We have disposable cars."
-"Thank you for cheering for that, people in Minnesota don't even cheer for that anymore." (about Vikings going to championship)
-"You don't call AAA, you call Uncle Ray!"
-"You might read a book! *mumbles* librarians...."
-"Middle class has made alcohol good for you, thank you! Exercise? No thanks, I've got red wine!"
-"What the? How the? Who the?"

But it was fun. Even though I had to leave the apartment at 7:15 in the AM.

And just got back at like 10:15 PM, but that's a longer story.

After inservice I headed out to Second Sister's house for Mom's birthday party. It was more like a Mom's/Abby's/Bek Kate's bash. They all got presents, as did I. More purple kitchen stuff from Second Sister. Man, was excited for those boots - see post here: Yippee-ki-yay! No, I like it, I will use them.

Was fun, even the boyfriend made it out. I got to play with the baby.

Who's not really a baby anymore.

I asked him if he wanted one of those, he claims he's too broke.

Then says we shouldn't have one because it would suck to be an only child so then he says we should have two and if we're gonna have two then we should have four and if we have four then we should have eight and when the number got to 64 I said I wasn't popping that many out cause I'm too queasy and then the conversation changed to me cringing at the Manchurian Candidate when he stabbed himself and pulled out the probe.

But that was gross!

Anyway, we jammed.

Ate some good food.

Joked about Dad turning 70 and what to do for his birthday in September.

-"A card shower?"
-"How about a surprise party?"
-"I don't know if you want to surprise a 70-year-old."

Was relaxing, but now I'm zonked.

So I'm gonna post this and then crash.

Big day tomorrow, Sketch and Edit's Excellent Adventure, take two.

Maybe - Sick Puppies

aaannd i'm out.

legitimate pre-midnight post. holy crap tag in use.

saw you leaning against that old record machine, saw the name of your band written on the marquee

Oh the joys of morning staff meetings.

Every year we have this thing called "inservice" where all the libraries in the system close and all the employees of all the different branches all come to the same place and we do seminars and breakout sessions and all that. I don't mind it cause I get to see all my home branch and other "we are, we are the youth of library" friends.

But apparently, this year they said screw it to the whole breakout sessions thing and we are instead going somewhere to learn about poverty. Which will be helpful, to our branch especially, but it won't feel like inservice. Cause instead of breakout sessions it's just one chick talking to us the whole day. So she better be good, or that's really gonna suck.

Anyway, for said "inservice" we have to read this book and answer these discussion questions and in this morning's meeting we went over those questions.

And Superwoman brought us donuts. Yeehaw.

It's gonna be interesting, and that's all I'm gonna say about it.

So that was this morning, after that most of the day I worked on that paperback spreadsheet mentioned in previous posts and finally got that sent off to the supervisor who works with collection management to do the ordering for the processing party that will take place in May.

Spent a lot of time at the desks, sent out reminder emails for the First Friday Art Show tomorrow, some of my teens are playing music whilst others greet guests. Should be fun. And then Saturday is the Read Across America thing at the mall. So it's a big weekend for TAB.

And me in turn, adding to that is the concert on Sunday.

Which means next week you will be overloaded with music by Maroon 5, Neon Trees and Owl City.

Get ready for it.

After work I met up with Slim Shady for supper. It was awesomeness, I pretty much tackled her in the parking lot. We ate pasta, it rocked. I have half of it in my fridge. Along with many other leftovers that I should really clean out before going shopping tomorrow.

Got to hear all about the new job, new place and the serious boyfriend. It's always amusing when it comes to boyfriend talk because we both started dating them at the same time. Funny to see how differently our relationships have progressed in the same amount of time. Granted she is older by like 2 years (used to call her Grandma scroll back a year and you'll find them) and my boyfriend has basically told me we're not getting married for like another 10 years.

I know, it was either Vegas or 10 years, should have stuck with Vegas.

Anyway, it was an excellent vent session. Which I severely needed cause I no longer have her or Fearless Leader around. Queen of the Known Universe and BossLady take the brunt of it nowadays along with the boyfriend but I don't want to scare them off so it was good to be able to talk stuff out with someone who's been there but now has outsider perspective.

If that makes sense.

And that was my day.

Oh and Carter's happy cause I got him his old food.

Cause I attempted to get him to eat different stuff but he just stared at me. So I had to go buy his regular stuff. Plus new treats.

Currently he's konked out next to me on the couch purring, I'm calling it a victory.

Moving on.

Music Rec and then the fiction.

C'mon - Ke$ha

as weird as her lyric video is the regular video version is even weirder. seriously. don't believe me go here.

Downtown - Lady Antebellum

great jam song.

On to the fiction.

In girum imus nocte et consumimur igni - Part Three

“It’s done,” I say into my watch as I exit through the back and walk to our next check point three blocks over. She’s been circling and slows down enough for me to open the door and jump in.

“Problems?” she asks looking over.

“None,” I reply, putting the briefcase down by my feet and my gun in my pocket. She turns left and heads toward our agency headquarters. After turning right five minutes later I notice, in my side mirror, a blue pickup taking a similar route.

“We’ve been compromised,” I say. She looks in her rearview mirror at the only vehicle following us down the rundown residential street. “Turn there,” I say, pointing a block ahead of us. “There’s a ramp to the freeway a block away.” She nods and turns at the corner. So do they. They pick up speed, knowing that we know.

“Why are they following us?” she looks over confused. She speeds up, starting to panic. “You did your job.”

“I’m a loose end,” I reply, opening the glove box, and reloading my gun with the ammo I find there. “Now that Noffke’s dead their person of interest will be free, but I still have all the information and can roll on them if ever caught.”

We enter the freeway and travel at full speed. She’s good, weaving in and out of traffic and losing the tail. For a while at least. They pick us up again as we exit the freeway twelve miles later and rear end us. She swerves off the road, trying to miss the black SUV in front of us. We spin ‘til the front of the mustang hits a tree, the impact setting off the airbags.

I push against the airbag and get out, pulling out my gun and crossing in front to pull her out. She’s hurt, her head hitting against the window as we spun, then slamming into the headrest from the impact of the airbag. I open her door and see four men approach from the pickup, guns out.

“Stay in the car,” I yell, firing off two shots at the two men in front, then ducking behind the open door. The girl pushes the airbag out of the way and crouches down in her seat. Retaliation shots hit the door and window causing shards of glass to land on my head. I look around the side of the door and see two men down. I hit what I shoot. Always. It’s kill or be killed in this business.

I see the German approaching me head on. He shoots twice, both missing but just barely. I step out from behind the door ready to fire but am grabbed from behind. The taller man must have gone around the car. He knocks the gun out of my hand in our struggle and everything goes black.

No Coast, No Mercy.

Yes I skipped yesterday.

And the day before that.

But it wasn't my fault.

I've tried posting this three times now, let's hope this time it works.

Have I mentioned how much I hate this new blogger?

Okay, so flashback to Friday:

Early morning, seminars all day, derby at night, then some crazy old lady convinced me and my boyfriend that we needed to go out after the derby.
But we had fun so it was okay.
Besides, I got her back anyway, check Facebook. I'm assuming she's not grateful that a picture of her sleeping on Easter has surfaced especially after she told me I'd be dead meat if it did.
Bring it, I've got more.
So, inservice.
Basically, all the employees from all the branches meet up at the main library and listen to speeches the whole day.
This year was not so bad, at least the sessions were interesting. Last year everything was aimed toward the new operating system we were about to switch over to so it got old fast. This year I got to learn about future technology aka 3D printers, and glasses that give you directions, take pictures, play music, etc. Plus some genealogy from Sensei my former boss, and  listen to a panel from the Journal Star about reviewing books.
Plus there were a couple major guest speakers, one of them being Mary Pipher who wrote “Reviving Ophelia” once upon a time. She told us a story about being on the Oprah show, apparently the producers told her what her opinions were supposed to be, ignoring her actual beliefs on the subject for dramatic purposes. But she’s stubborn so she ignored them and answered truthfully. She was immediately escorted out of the building after the show and into the limo. No goodbye, though there was no hello either, she didn’t meet Oprah until she was actually on stage being interviewed. So Oprah must be a great actress, it always seems like she knows/gets along with her guests very well.
Anyway, inservice is actually kind of a blast at times, mostly cause I get to see all my friends from the home branch and jam with them. Our new tradition is to head out to this Mexican restaurant during the lunch break, awesomeness.
Though some people still say they’d rather get an colonoscopy than go to inservice. But it’s not that bad, think of it as a nerd convention. All of us together packed into one room talking about library stuff, quoting literature and cheesy library-related jokes.
Plus some funny speakers that lead to a few good one-liners.

Things overheard at Inservice:
-“and now I have time to talk about my cats”
-“anyone want to sing a medley of show tunes?”
-“somebody give me a g”
-“now let’s take some time to talk about why you’re wearing what you’re wearing.”
-“the new paint job - orange meets green meets purple which wouldn’t be possible without the help of our decorator” *insert picture of Stevie Wonder*
After 9 hours of that came the roller derby.

Mad Maxines dominated Springfield 165-97.

Flash Gloria hip-checked the other team's jammer into the scorekeeper's easel and took it down!

Oldest Sister was jealous as I take her kids all the time but she’s never been so she tagged along with me and the boyfriend. I’m turning into a pro at explaining the rules, or I better be as I've taught …at least like 8 people, but that doesn’t include the giant group of my former teachers that all came together a couple years ago.
Definitely worth it.
But then of course people realize how big of a derby nerd I am, quoting their actual names and occupations whilst listing stats and strategies along the way.
Oh well, it’s not like they don’t already think I’m a nerd anyway.
Especially since yesterday I checked out the Spice Girls greatest hits CD.
Yes they have one and it’s awesome.
Though I already own all the songs cause I have their previous albums, well all except the last few.
Like I said, nerd.

BossLady and I were bonding over the Spice Girls, apparently there’s a great band called the Space Curls that sing their songs in German.
It’s highly enjoyable.

Which just reminds me of this time in college, freshman year I lived with an awesome friend of mine from high school and I just remember I turned this next video on Youtube and we were moving her gigantic futon, like giant heavy obnoxious futon, and it gets to the first language she drops her side completely and bends over laughing. Cause she had no idea, just thinking it was the regular version.
Fantastic.
"Girlfriend" Avril Lavigne in 8 languages

My favorite are probably Portuguese and Chinese, though German does have its charm.

So Saturday:

Aside from Spice Girls flashbacks I worked 9-6, watched "Beginners" and "Page Eight" meanwhile uploading all my photos to Facebook. You can probably tell I was watching "Beginners" when I uploaded them as my captions were very much like lines in the movie.
If you haven't seen it you should, it's great.

Anyway, photos.

After months of meaning to do it and getting distracted.

Much like all the other stuff on my to-do-list.

At the moment it consists of formatting that camp song book, which I started uploading in January, coming up with a camp application form before the meeting next week, buying my niece a kick butt confirmation present - I was thinking roller skates, we decided at the roller derby she would rock it. Just gotta come up with a kick butt name. I'm still working on mine, have some possibilities but nothing solid. Or as cool as one of my cousins, another one of my cousins came up with it, his name is Jake so basing it on Jake Gyllenhaal his name would be Jake Gyllen-haul-your-ass-around-the-track go grocery shopping for summer reading stuff, but I get to do that on the clock, what else....meet up with the Library Goddess and her current GA for GA stuff, oh and fill out the official paperwork for that to happen in the first place, and then there's camp

Camp.

And all the planning that goes along with it.

Enough said.

Sunday:

Worked all day with some cool people, uploaded some volunteer stats, narrowed down more stuff for my next booklist, currently I'm jamming out with my big fat cat watching Scooby Doo: Mystery Incorporated

It's them as teens living in Crystal Cove, teenage drama included, and hysterical.
"The last time you were that polite to me I spent a month locked in my bedroom listening to 'Now That's What I Call Break-up Songs 16'!"

"We've got something from every food group. salty, sugary, jerky and ice cream!"

"What's up with Freddy?"
"Oh, he's just in the zone. It'll pass. If not we'll spray him with the hose."

Highly enjoyable continuation of a classic, I'm diggin' it. This show never gets old.

Time for some Scale of Awesome Ratings:

"Beginners" Ewan McGregor, Christopher Plummer, Melanie Laurent
The story jumps back and forth between the present and multiple pasts. After his wife dies Plummer's character Hal comes out of the closet. Which is strange as he's been married to a women for decades, but she died so now he wants to live his life the way he actually wants to live it. He meets a guy, Luca from ER which totally threw me off, they fall in love, then Hal gets cancer and starts dying meanwhile Ewan, aka Oliver the main character and Hal's son, is narrating this whole thing whilst living his own life and being horribly horribly depressed because the majority of his scenes take place in the present after his father is dead.

I've probably lost you, sorry, he dies, Oliver is sad, he adopts Hal's dog and meets a girl who turns his life upside down.

Anyway, the monotone narration and random images that pop up on the screen were probably the best part as they were completely random and as I was watching I was also tagging pictures and writing captions so the captions I was writing came out as monotone narration in my head.

Scale of Awesome says around 6/10, I was entertained, I love Ewan McGregor, Christopher Plummer definitely deserved the Oscar, but it was horribly horribly depressing. Even when it wasn't.

"Page Eight" Bill Nighy, Rachel Weisz, Ralph Fiennes
Basically Bill Nighy's character Johnny is given a secret file by his boss/best friend exposing a huge secret. Then his best friend dies, not mysteriously it was legitimate, and suddenly people are out to get Johnny because of the information that's been uncovered. Though he wasn't the only one who received the file apparently he's the only one being watched, along the way he meets his neighbor Rachel Weisz's character Nancy who's brother was murdered overseas.

I got lost. I checked it out cause it has Rachel Weisz on it and it was about secret agents and it sounded interesting, but it wasn't so much. I mean, there were moments, like many other movies, it did have its moments.

To be fair I was doing about 8 other things at the time so, much like Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, I probably would have liked it better if I were paying more attention.

Scale of Awesome says 4/10. If it was better it would have held my attention instead of transferring it onto something else.

So there are those, Scooby Doo gets a 10/10 in case anyone was wondering, and now I'm off to make some food though Chinese takeout sounds really good...

"Who put a shark in my mailbox?"

Okay, giving the Scandal pilot a fourth chance.

It's excellent!!

Except I keep falling asleep.

I start it too late.

But tomorrow I don't have to go in until noon so I can stay up later.

Showed up today and checked my mailbox, like any other day. And there was a shark eyepatch in it. I was completely lost, couldn't figure out where it came from. Asked everyone I ran into if they knew anything about it and got nothing. Then finally recognized the handwriting on the interdepartmental envelope and it hit me. Queen of Awesome. and I should have known cause it was awesome. So it could only have only originated from her.

Squirt and Bubby's play was tonight. She was the fairy godmother attorney and he was the big bad wolf on trial.

Both had solo's, his was a rap, hysterical. They rocked it.

Reminded me of when we did the Trial of the Big Bad Wolf. With the "weasel sidestep" and the forever famous "yeah yeah the jury...yeah yeah the jury..."

19 years later and it's still stuck in my head.

Before the play was a dinner and a silent auction - i got cookies and a chair it's exciting - before all that was work, during that it was mostly desk stuff and some circ room check-in. Plus registering for inservice.

Oh inservice.

Last year someone said they'd rather have a colonoscopy than go, but it wasn't so bad.

Plus this year Sensei is presenting so I gotta go to that.

Ohhh, so that's why Olivia left the whitehouse and went on her own...got it.

Good show you should check it out.

I wanna be a gladiator in a suit.

Other than that today did some homework so I'm good for a couple of weeks, however I have a huge project due on the 21st that I haven't started yet. Woops.

On to tomorrow which is volunteer recognition, gotta dress up and all that. Catered food of awesomeness, plus some prizes and all that for the TAB kids.

Should be fun.

I know, I'm sorry this is a boring post. I'll make it up to you tomorrow.

Wait, she cleared his reputation but that's it? I guess it's not their job to figure out who the real killer is. I'm used to watching crime shows, it's messing with my head.

Song of the night:

"Forever and For Always" Shania Twain feat. Alison Krause

love the harmony on this one.

I feel like I'm forgetting to post something. Drove from home to library. Bought new headphones. Shark in the mailbox. Went to the church for the play. Ate supper. Watched them dominate in their roles, I think Squirt enjoyed calling her brother names and telling him to shutup - she was the prosecution attorney so she was all over it. Came back to apartment turned on Scandal. Posting.

Still posting.

Continue to post.

Til I'm done.

Which is now.

Night!

Well, that's something to scrapbook.

That's become kind of my motto lately. Well, that and "Black in the crevices" go here: My Life in Closed Captions: "I'm just coloring in the chicken feathers."
Anyway, it works in any circumstance, good or bad.
Like, if you win the lottery!
Well, that's something to scrapbook.
Or if some jackass guy totally rips you off and then doesn't talk to you anymore.
Well, that's something to scrapbook.
Fortunately today's was pretty good. Inservice at the library - it was actually kind of funny because I was at one presentation on the main floor and like every two minutes you could hear the door rattle because someone had ignored the signs and was trying to get in. The whole thing kind of flew by actually, cause I had some kickass presenters! Got to learn about some cool Young Adult books - which will hopefully help me out for my next grad school class that's about young adult materials - and talk about family literacy, see how media can affect libraries for the better and...what else...oh listen to a hysterical zookeeper dude do the final wrapup presentation, that was amusing. Plus I had a fun lunch with some of my coworker friends.
Quotes of the day: (well, some of them...)
-"Correlation isn't Causation, find out why at the library." theme slogans, long story
-"There is no crying in Koha." which is going to be a major theme in the upcoming weeks as we transition from our old system to a new one
-"I just need to carry an ottoman around with me." Grandma (25-yr-old-coworker) about the lack of a good footrest

"Give In To Me" - Country Strong Garrett Hedlund and Leighton Meester

They're actually not too bad. It's one of the few I bought on itunes so I figured I'd promote it.

and another fun movie duet
"Here's to Love" - Down with Love starring Ewan McGregor and Renee Zellweger

Another excellently cheesy movie. Not that Country Strong was cheesy. Depressing, yes. Cheesy, No.

I have the weekend shift so tonight will probably conclude with me konking out watching one of the many DVDs I have out that are due next week. Black Swan seems a bit creepy to watch at night, and Inception seems like something I should be completely awake for so that leaves me with either Eat Pray Love or 127 Hours. Maybe I can sleep through the whole cuts-off-his-arm thing. No, I totally wouldn't sleep through that, nightmare central. Guess I'll stick to Frasier season eight. Nerd, yeah I know. Or...30 Rock season one...hmm...the choices.

"I transferred from Los Angeles, your school has no gymnastics team, this is a last resort..."

Name that movie. It's my random quote of the day.
Others include:
Oldest Sister - "I'm related to that one."
Me - "She's my older sister."
Josh - "You're very strong."
OS - "So you've met my family."
Josh - "Just that one."
Thanks. But he's actually the reason I went tonight. He helps out at camp, well directs the teen one with Steve and me. He's got some good one-liners from camp as well.
Me - "Josh!"
Josh - "Finally! Someone who doesn't call me Pastor!"
and then the incident when all the guy leaders were talking about bathrooms and I refused to take part in the conversation (i was the only girl counselor that year) so I got up and walked away and heard him yell, "Shaaaaaaaaaaaaare! Carrie won't shaaaaaaare!"

Today was a serious roller coaster. Early morning training at the big branch and the system was flaky? I guess you could say, where it worked one minute but then it didn't the next. After that it was like flustered central because there was a lot to do and I was scheduled to practice more training stuff but I did actual work work instead because we were behind. By the time I got out of there I was exhausted and I was only there 'til one. Then I came over to the smaller branch after that - so it was backwards day - and got to have fun conversations with my coworkers there. I love my coworkers. And my boss. They are the bomb-diggity. My Glee-loving boss says that we should get matching t-shirts for inservice with a phrase that basically deals with the name of our branch and a movement that happened in the 1860's. I think it'd be fun. I'm actually semi-excited for inservice. I mean, it'll probably be long and stuff, but I'll know people so it's okay.

"Hey Soul Sister" Glee version

The Warblers at Sectionals. Awesomeness.

Missy is my hero. I have no idea how this quote came to me today, I saw nothing dealing with Eliza Dushku or cheerleading or gymnastics or Los Angeles. But yeah. Just one of those that comes at you and sticks with you.

Now I feel like I should watch the movie. Do I even own the movie? Hmmm... gonna find out.

Night!
