Okay so we weren't as dominating as planned but we finished it off. I'll take the win. Pathetic as it was, it had its highlights.

"Hey you, what's new at the Stew-Zoo?" more charlie's Angels. Bosley is feeling euphonic. It's one of those shows that once you start you can't stop. You know, like pringles? Although I'm sure none of the women on this show even know what those are, good god. They all weigh like 80 pounds.

No! No! No! Don't go into the dark parking garage alone! You're toast! No! I liked you. Scream! Run! Something! Wait, he karate chopped you once and now you're dead? The black rose is a nice touch.

So today flew by pretty quickly, granted it was only 12-6. Tomorrow is 11:30-6 plus our opening softball game. Huzzah! We're gonna win them all this year. We're on a mission. 5 years and we've beaten everyone but one team. Every year they freaking beat us, it's obnoxious. Last year we would have had a second chance at them since the season got expanded but they dropped out. Apparently they had better things to do. We said they were scared of losing. They're probably both true.
But our team is awesome. It's basically the same crew every year, though we've learned we play better when we're scrappy and short-handed. Mom was mad last year, one game we were short and made her play right field. I remember her chasing down a fly ball "YOU said they never hit it out here!!!" I lied. Sorry Mom.

But tomorrow we're gonna dominate! Not like the Huskers did today, actually dominate! Hopefully I won't have to break my leg back open. That was disgusting. I'd upload pics but I don't want to make you sick. Gravel + Skin = Ouch man. Pure ouch.

C'mon Kelly, bust down the door, you've gotta land the plane! Oh yeah, let the karate expert kick it down. In heels. She's much more believable. Mom used to make fun of me watching this show. Something about the cheesy fight scenes. I find them amusing. I wonder how she's doing with Chuck. I did leave her the first season. Perhaps I will steal it back if she's finished. If not I still have the last part of season three to get through.

Although it was only a half day I feel like I actually made progress. I finally got all the way through a story I've been editing...for like months that I'd never gotten to. My apartment is semi-clean. My cat is sleeping next to me on the couch.
All-in-all it was a good day.

"You move it Turkey, we were here first!" I love that they refer to Kelly as the street-talking angel. Kelly Garrett. aka Jaclyn Smith. It's like what the Queen of the Known Universe was talking about today - remember the grandma on Airplane? "I speak jive."

This is a week of my favorite things Day Two: Movies

Donuts in my mailbox and Angry Birds on my ipod. All in all an excellent day.

So, day two, as requested means Movies. Since apparently she thinks she knows me well enough to know what they will be. Which she probably does, but I'm going to post them anyway.

4. Get Smart
Great comedy, but Steve Carell and Anne Hathaway in an action movie? No one expected them to pull it off but they did. Fantastic acting, awesome cast, great script and so much fun to watch.

Yes I'm doubling up the next two even though they're separate movies and I love them both I figured I could fit in more movies this way, deal.

3. Charlie's Angels/Charlie's Angels Full Throttle
Okay, so I'm a nut for Drew. Like website and fanclub kind of nut. Certifiable kind of nut. And I'm also a nut for the Charlie's Angels series - own the dvds, went trick or treating with two friends as the Angels - so when you put the two together I was all over it.

"And that's kickin' your ass."

"Is this grape? It's grape! It's grape, yessir!"

2. Mummy 1/Mummy Returns
Awesome acting, awesome cast, excellent script, what more could you ask for? Plus I love Egypt! I was obsessed with it all through grade school and high school, it's the only thing I ever wrote research papers on, it's on the list of places I want to see before I die. So, mixing Egyptology with a cast like Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz, John Hannah, Arnold Vosloo was like a dream come true.

Yes that was by memory, check my first post I can quote all of the first two but not the third because it's crap.

Honestly, it adds just the right amount of comedy in with action plus history, you learn a lot about Egypt and its customs.

Did you really not see this coming? Idina Menzel? Taye Diggs? Favorite song of all time. And, despite a certain coworker's opinion haha, a musical of some sort should be on everybody's list.

These are a few of my favorite things - Day One: Music

So, I spent my day off at the farmhouse. I got some more fun shirts from my truly amazing brother and my awesome sister-in-law. Then, ate some good ice cream cake with the family. There's my weekend.

Okay, so I was inspired by my last post - aka literal music video and Mindwalk Blvd - to post more of my favorite things. But, there are too many of them to post all at once so I figured I could span it into a week. Maybe it will help distract me from reality and the significance of the next few days.

I have a lot of favorite things, music, movies, tv, books, hobbies, etc. Tonight I'm gonna focus on music. Music is kind of a big deal to me. It's relaxing, it's fun, it's catchy, sometimes annoying aka "Do the Bookdrop", but still something I can't live without. One of my favorite quotes from college came from this girl I had one class with total.
Best Friend: You know the girl with the headphones who stares at her feet when she walks?
Girl: Oh yeah, she's so sarcastic I love her!
When someone knows who you are just by those descriptions it means something.
Anyway, I thought it was funny, but yes, headphones are constantly in my ears or my pockets because sometimes I just like to jam out, you know? Sometimes it drives people nuts but hey, that's me.

I thought my first segment should be about favorite songs. I have lots of favorite songs but only a few all-time favorite songs. I've lowered it down to five, some of them you've already heard on this blog but some will be new.

Here's my top five:
1. Tracy Chapman's "Give Me One Reason" I'm not much for blues, but this song, it just gets to me with the rhythm and the guitar. I wish I could play like her.


2. Aaliyah's "Are You That Somebody"It so sad that we didn't get to see her career go as far as it would have. I love the beat of this one and the awesome dance moves in the video, haha.


3. The Wreckers "Leave the Pieces"Here's the live version, you can find the official video/recording on youtube.
I loved Michelle Branch already, but when she joined with Jessica Harp to form the Wreckers she became a whole different kind of awesome. Her style totally changed and turned a bit more country which I think she pulls off pretty well.


4. Joshua Radin's "Only You" I'm more a fan of the acoustic version available on itunes but this one is good as well. Remake of a classic that he totally does justice.


5. "Out Tonight" from Jonathan Larson's broadway classic "Rent"

Okay, you're probably aleady overloaded so I'm gonna crash and burn.

Baby, Baby, Baby, NOOO!!!

Soooo.... pretty sure my neighbors think I'm nuts. Started on my paper, just have to add final touches tomorrow after work when I get more info on Reference USA and how to cite it. After that I caught up on my shows, aka Castle, Glee, Harry's Law, good episodes all around.
Castle - Beckett quotes F. Scott Fitzgerald aka the quote I carry around in my back pocket, literally.
Glee - Mercedes and Rachel performed "Take me or leave me" from Rent plus Sue danced and sang in a flannel tracksuit.
Harry Law - Harriet goes all rambo and tanks her defense, and while getting dragged toward the holding cell by the bailiff she screams, "You're not gonna put me in a cell with my client are you? Cause he kills people!"
Anyway, they probably think I'm nuts because there was a lot of commentary (meaning screaming) coming from me while usually I'm pretty quiet. Except during Husker games. Or if I'm listening to music...which is always, but usually it's into headphones...so yes. Quiet, I'm a quiet neighbor. My cat, when he bangs on the door, he has a mind of his own. But I'm quiet. Anyway, I was stoked about Beckett reciting my favorite quote (yes i'm a nerd and a writer so i have a favorite quote) so there was some yelling there, I laughed hysterically at Harriet's quote about her client but my outbursts while watching Glee are probably why my neighbors think I'm messed up because at first it was, "Oh, god no, not Bieber!" but then like ten minutes later I was so excited for Rent. So there was a lot of shouting. Who doesn't shout for Rent, honestly? Probably a lot of people. But again, I'm a nerd and saw it live. Took my roommate and some college friends plus a high school one, it was fantastic. Surprised them with tickets actually. I think I pulled off the secret 'til we pulled up to the theater which is pretty impressive. Except Schwartz, I needed her cause I was freaking out. Everybody else I got pretty good.

Anyway, I wanted to post that clip as it is awesome, but I couldn't find it so you're stuck with this one. Because I had to suffer through it you do too. My main problem now is before I could say I had never heard the whole song. I don't listen to the radio, so if it weren't for my niece and her Bieber Fever - well, past love of Bieber now apparently he's lame - I wouldn't even know of him. Now I have to actually claim to have heard the whole song all the way through and not hated it. Well, Sam's version anyway. He's not so bad. But don't worry, I'm not gonna go out and do anything drastic like listen to the original.

Other than writing the paper and catching up on shows my day also consisted of searching for a new messenger bag online, found a cool one, and ordering my bridesmaids dress for the aforementioned roommate's wedding as she is getting married in July. Fun stuff.
