For once I was nothing but productive on a day off.
Usually when I clean my apartment it's because I'm avoiding homework.
Now I have no homework to avoid so I had to force myself into it.
But I was up.
Since 8AM.
On a day off.
I know.
Sucked.
But I guess it was worth it.
Met up with my sisters for lunch, shopped a bit in the afternoon, then cleaned the rest of the day.
Literally, the rest of the day.
Mopped, dusted, vacuumed, scrubbed, all that.
I think I've mopped like 3 times since I've moved in.
Don't give me that look, it's not like there's a lot to mop.
And I keep it clean.
But today was extreme, even changed out my shower curtain.
Think I'm good for a while.
Tomorrow it's back to work so I should crash.
Exhausted.
I know, I'm boring. I'm sorry. But it was a very big day for me.
Here, have some more Useless Information.
-The original pack of Skittles doesn't contain the color blue so you CAN'T taste the rainbow.
-The letters on M&M candies stand for Mars and Murrie, the developers of the candy in 1941.
-The designer of the Statue of Liberty - Frederic-Auguste Bartholdi - used his wife as the model for the body and his mother as the model for the face.
-The 57 on Heinz ketchup bottles stands for the varieties of pickle the company once made.
-A group of whales is called a Pod.
-Kermit the Frog is left-handed.
-The word "nerd" was first coined by Dr. Seuss in "If I Ran the Zoo"
Gonna look into that one tomorrow at work.
On to the music. Song you know but forgot you knew it.
Dust on the Bottle - David Lee Murphy
classic country.
Watching Leverage's Nebraska episode. Nice attempt at our accent. It's amusing. Sophie hates chicken fried steak. Parker wears a Nebraska hat and eats corndogs. Hardison gets mobbed.
"Ladies, for the last time I am not the tailback for the Cornhuskers. I don't even know what a Cornhusker is."
"I can't hack a hick."

I could write a blog. I have thoughts.

"They have great marinara."
Having a Major Crimes marathon.
My favorite scene in the series so far.
I love Rusty, but Flynn is my favorite in that specific moment.
I still have last season's on my DVR so I'm going through them before watching the season premiere from Monday.
Ah today.
Volunteer training, intern training, computer lab installation - tables are up, chairs are here, all that's left is the actual computers to be installed.
Which I think are somewhere in the building.
It's exciting.
Except for the awkward carpet.
It's awkward cause it's nice.
As is the new lab - no more claustrophobic walls, more air flow and plus it's more ADA capable, etc.
After work came home, did some homework, turned on Major Crimes and now I'm off to bed.
"it looks like an insurance office."
"we agree."
Another long day tomorrow and then Friday I'm off!
With an assignment due at midnight.
So ready to be done and graduated...countdown to December.
Though at the moment I am halfway done with one of my summer classes cause it only goes through the end of June. Thinking of it that way helps me get through the homework.
The other class I have until July 31st to turn in all the homework.
Thinking I'll dedicate a long weekend or two to it and be done with it.
After I'm done with the homework for this one.
Alright, back to Major Crimes and I'm out.
I know, I'm boring.
Here, read more useless information:
-Spam stands for Shoulder Pork and Ham
-The United States Postal Service assures its customers that they will not get fat licking stamps. There is no more than one-tenth of a calories worth of glue on every stamp.
-It's illegal in Alabama to wear a fake mustache that causes laughter in church.
-The oldest word in the English language is "town"
-The names of the continents all end with the same letter with which they start, excluding North and South in front of America.
All I got.
love the Judds.

When you answer the door, pick up the phone you won't find me 'cause I'm not coming home.
9-6 at the work branch.
Not much to say about the day.
Actually can't think of a single thing, which can be both good or bad.
It's good because that means nothing bad happened that stuck with me, but it's bad because it means I'm totally boring.
I'm literally scrambling for something about today.
A bunch of people heard a book advertised on the radio and flocked to the library for a copy but it's out of print and we don't have it. ILL all the way.
Seriously 4 people.
Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii had a BBQ beef sandwich for lunch. And sour cream and onion chips. And a mountain dew.
I get the latter 2 every day basically, but switch up the sandwich part. Sometimes it's a polish dog. Sometimes it's soup. Sometimes it's the special.
But they know me so they reach for the chips and pop before I start talking.
Um, I updated the TAB website...
and oh yeah. Planned a Week Long Event.
Kicked ass at it too.
Teen Tech Week - posters are made, approved and sent along with both the tally and raffle sheets. Info is sent to our webmaster who's put it online. All that's left now is to buy the candy and then send that through delivery later this week.
Oh and send an staff-wide email.
I hate those.
With a passion.
Takes me hours to write 2 sentences cause I overanalyze everything.
Blah.
After work came home, did some laundry, immersed myself in homework for a couple of hours and now I'm vedging out watching Lie To Me season two finale. Carter at my side.
Originally I was supposed to meet up with the Library Goddess tomorrow morning for coffee but she's swamped so that's on to next week.
And that was my day.
I know, I'm boring. I'm sorry.
I'll be better tomorrow, but for now enjoy these.

Barbie isn't popular. You still have to buy her friends.
"If you wanna get sick, lick a library book." - BossLady-ism
So today was fun.
Actually got a decent amount of sleep last night. Think I was out before 2AM. Shocker, I know.
But it made for a nice relaxing day.
Worked the desk, stocked supplies, came home immediately following to watch more Lie To Me and do some writing.
Even more of a shocker. Lately I've been doing a lot more editing than writing - for my awesome now officially published friend. But I've been looking through some old Sketch and Edits that I'd started and disregarded, may start bringing a few back.
But of course before I can even think about posting them on here I have to send physical copies to Sketch or she would drive all the way out here just to smack me.
Cause the whole thing is really her fault. She refused to draw anything for me until I wrote something for her. And thus Sketch and Edit was born. Way back in 2008. And while they've been on the backburner they're always there in the back of my head.
The problem with that though is you know how you get an idea and then you think it'd make for a great story but then when you go to write it down later you totally forget whatever it was that you were going to write down?
Or is that just me?
See, I used to write things on my hands, arms, legs, wherever.
Literally, my arms from fingers to elbows would be covered in notes, but I have a feeling that SuperWoman would frown on that so I now just forget stuff.
"present company excluded." Beckett's gonna kick your ass.
Yes, I'm watching Castle.
I'm intrigued, thinking that this Senator has something to do with Castle's dad. He seems a bit too young to be his father but I'm wondering if there will be some sort of twist that he's his brother or related or something random.
Unless he dies by the end of this episode, in which case I take back that theory.
The Senator, not Castle. You can't really kill off the namesake.
Well, you could, but I doubt as if people would continue watching the show since it took 5 seasons just to get him and her together.
She let him go?
Oh, she's gonna get busted.
"Drive" movie clips in a commercial. Did you hear a woman actually sued the movie company because she thought there wasn't enough driving in the movie?
Like she was led astray or something so she sued them.
Alright, this is mere ramblings, I know, I'll hit you with something fun.

Please don't say "caveman!"
Finally home.
Carter attacked me when I got here.
Literally jumped on me cause he missed me.
It was nice to get away but I did miss him.
So, got away from the chaos, cleared my head, now I'm ready to go back to work.
For like 2 days before I get another one off anyway, woohoo!
Need to get my hair chopped at some point soon.
But not like chopped chopped, I'm not that brave.
Don't think I could ever do that.
"Please don't say caveman!!"
Hailey Nash/Maid Marian is on Bones. Now she's a publisher.
I haven't watched this show in a long time and there was a double episode. Huzzah.
So what else from today?
I slept in, watched some TV, took a nap, went over to my brother's to fill out some paperwork. Got to see their cute kiddos and puppy dogs.
Then stopped by the boyfriend's place and we watched the Husker men get smoked by Illinois. Then some Mighty Ducks.
Flashbacks man.
Haven't seen that movie in like 20 years.
Didn't even remember the storyline but now I have an urge to get the rest of the series through Interlibrary Loan.
I have another request in the works but for the life of me I can't remember what it is. Guess I'll check on that tomorrow.
It's back to work I go and it's late so I should sleep.
Yes, I know, I'm boring.
Here.

-The Zip in Zipcode means Zoning Improvement Plan.

We'll call this section "Under-rated soundtracks"
Goodnight Moon - Shivaree
Retro 1999 from Kill Bill Volume 2 and apparently now Silver Linings Playbook, which I still have yet to see.
Chelsea - Stefy
reminds me a bit of the Eurythmics.
John. Tucker. Must. Die. I watched this movie twice a day for 3 months.
Enough said.
When the Morning Comes - Jon Allen
Give him a chance it's fantastic. Bones always has great music, like Grey's did. Back when I watched it anyway.

"Show me your chest hair."
I'm just exhausted.
All day acting peppy and cheerful and excited about life cause when you're training new employees you have to be all peppy and cheerful and excited about life. Cause who wants to train under someone who's mean and depressed and tired all the time?
And that's basically all I did all day was train people. Cause we have three new ones in the system - and it's not like it's a pain, I like them, they're cool. It just takes it out of you. And I'm always freaking out that I'm going to teach them the wrong thing or whatever.
But it's always fun when you're training with other fun people.
Quote of the day: "Show me your chest hair."
Nope.
No explanation, just gonna have to roll with it.
After work was dinner with the sisters. Got my usual rainbow chicken and fries, half of which is in the fridge ready to be eaten at around 2AM.
If I make it that long, I'm barely hanging on for this post and it's only 11:30.
Dinner was fun and our annual trivia night - mentioned here "Hey, I got flax." - has been officially scheduled for the first Friday of February. Totally stoked. We talked about our costumes a bit, every team is supposed to have a theme. We picked That 70's Show for ours - go here: "That's not it either." I'm Donna cause I got the red, which makes the boyfriend Forman. Oldest Sister is Kitty cause she can do the laugh, her husband aka the King of Useless Information is Kelso, my brother is Red all the way, Favorite Sister-In-Law will be Jackie, Second Sister will be Hyde - she's stoked to buy a wig - brother-in-law will be Fez which I think will be hysterical.
Anyway, originally that was going to be the weekend for the annual Sketch and Edit's Excellent Adventure so we will probably end up pushing it back. But it was also the weekend of my niece's first birthday party and I felt guilty for skipping. This will be good though cause it gives us actual time to plan since that's coming up really fast. Last year when we went I got sick so we didn't do much but this year we actually semi-know the area and we can come up with a game plan about some stuff to visit and places to eat at and all that so it will be better.
Should stop by their library.
Yes they have one.
We drove by. We actually did just randomly drive all over town. It took like 20 minutes to cover the whole town.
Boondocks baby, yeah.
Anyway, so that was my day.
And yes I'm boring so here, enjoy these.

And on to the music the LAST DAY of my picks for 2012's greatest hits.
Lights - Ellie Goulding
actually been around much longer than 2012 but didn't gain popularity until this past year. very catchy and SUPER COOL VIDEO. we played this while golfing this summer 2G style.
Lovin' You Is Fun - Easton Corbin
love the deep voice. really like this one.
Finally Found You - Enrique Iglesias
making a comeback? liked "baby i like it" better though.

You suck at this game!
So I play this game on the drive home.
I drive the same route every night so you get to know traffic patterns and all that. Anyway, if I go a certain speed with no car in front of me I can hit every green light a split second before it turns yellow all the way to my apartment.
However, if there is a car in front of me I hit every red light.
Not one, all.
So of course there was this obnoxious car going under the speed limit and I can't pass them so we hit all the lights.
He sucks at that game.
Oh my god, so I'm watching Jennifer Lawrence on David Letterman, was I the only one who got her First Wives Club reference?
Has no one else seen that movie?
Did people think that she would actually insult Meryl Streep like that?
Seriously?
Bette Midler's character Brenda picks up an award that Goldie Hawn's character won and says something to the effect of, "look it says I beat Meryl!"
I bet I can find it.
HA!
LiLo blowing everything out of proportion. As always.
I'm sorry, tangent.
So, today was the scavenger hunt.
I spent the majority of the day FTFO.
Even this morning making changes and then the hour before realize that one of my clues was checked out so my wonderful Trainee found me a different book and wrote the clue.
But the kids seemed to like it.
Didn't think it was lame. Or at least that's what they said.
And they learned stuff.
Or seemed to.
I had fun making it, though it took like months on and off.
Gotta work with the off desk time all I can.
Anyway, so they paired off and I had 5 sets of clues - cause I didn't want them to just follow each other around the library. Each of the clues was based around the life of a Nebraska author featured in our in-house special library.
They started with microfilm and OF COURSE today of all days some dude decides to camp out on one of the machines and then the articles take a while to find plus the third machine takes forever to load and then neither of them print so I had some skip ahead to the next clues and then work their way around, whatever, after they showed me the article - instead of printing it off and bringing it to me - I gave them their next clue which was a call number to a biography which they had to locate which then led them to adult nonfiction then to adult fiction which then led them to finding information in a specific database - tied to their subject matter - that they had to show me and then after the database was the music section and then we all ended up on 3rd.
Meanwhile, on the backs of all these task/clues were bonus questions specifically about our library system. What are the full names of all the branches? (look for a business card at the desk) Who is ours named after and why? (ask a staff member) What year did we open? (look for a plaque outside the entrance) What animal is hanging in Youth services? What color is this person's portrait's frame? etc. etc. There were more but I'm rambling.
But they all got them right and they took the time to answer them and to go to all these places in the library and they did it without complaint so I'm proud of them.
Anyway, it ended with an awesome tour by our in-house special librarian. Who is excellent. And I'm pretty sure she gets cabin fever cause almost every day I see her fixing displays on first floor.
Love it.
But she had fun with it and the kids seemed to like it. Was a good refresher for me. Got my C-NAMES down.
Long story.
Anyway, that was pretty much all afternoon and really the only thing from the morning was training new staff to work over at one of the other branches. This time there's 3 new girls - one of which used to work at the work branch and is back. The other haven't worked at libraries before. All 3 are pretty awesome and said we hadn't scared them off and they are coming back again tomorrow so, job well done.
And that was my day.
So, on to the music. More of 2012's greatest hits
Starships - Pitch Perfect cast plus Youtubers
cause i think it's cool.
Scream & Shout - Will.i.am and Britney Spears
first of these greatest hits that i don't own. actually this is the first time i've heard the song all the way through. it's not bad, may buy it.
just such a random combination of artists.
We Are Young - Fun
at first was not such a fan of these guys, but they've grown on me. really like Some Nights.
Why yes Craig, it is a great day for America.
I miss this show.
Used to watch it every night for like years.
Literally years.
And LENA'S A GUEST!!
Totally DVR'ing this one.
Useless Information
a la Craig Ferguson
The reason a vaccination is called a vaccination is because...
When they were searching for cures to smallpox they noticed that milk maids never got small pox, however they did get cow pox. And that little bit of cow pox kept the small pox away. Since the Latin word for cow is "Vacca" it led to "Vaccination".
and just cause i can...
and i'm out.
EDIT
Sorry, Lena's interview was hysterical and reminded me of how often I rewind it when guests swear and they put flags over their mouths and Craig yells something else and I found this great example so I'm adding it cause I think it's funny.
that's how i dance.
HA!

tired, sleepy, other words meaning tired and sleepy...
Holy toast man, totally fell asleep at like 8:30 tonight.
Almost fell asleep on my feet tonight though so that wasn't a big surprise. I did manage to pick up the bread and basket for the soup luncheon on Sunday. Big meal for all the library students between classes, it's pretty fun.
Last semester we did pizza, one before that was tacos, etc.
Get to show up at 10 for class at 1PM. But she's smart enough to know I can't cook so I get to bring bread instead of soup.
Work was interesting. Got yelled at by an angry dude over the phone, another weird dude got banned for two years, there was an open house after closing so the regulars got to stay even later....
That's pretty much all.
Oh, planned out my meeting for Tuesday. Got a TAB meeting Tuesday with the party on Saturday. Holiday party with holiday card making to take to a nursing home, gonna order some pizza drink some eggnog - really? eggnog? that's just gross. Though I did have some today in a "santa shake" which according to the place across the street consists of eggnog and peppermint icecream. It was actually pretty good.
So excited for the day off tomorrow. Gonna spend it sleeping in and then heading out to see the boyfriend.
Aaannd that's pretty much my day.
Sorry, I'm boring.
Hopefully will have more to say tomorrow.
Yes, I'm aware I said that yesterday.
Here, have some of this:
- The average woman spends 1 year of her lifetime trying to decide what to wear.
- Mario appeared in the 1981 arcade game, Donkey Kong. His original name was Jumpman, but was changed to Mario to honor the Nintendo of America's landlord, Mario Segali.
- Fanta Orange is the third largest selling soft drink in the world.
- Butterflies cannot fly if their body temperature is less than 86 degrees.
Alright, that's all I got. Have a good one.

coffee, work, homework, and potential flying papers
Aaannd, just like every other end of semester, here you go.
Misery - Glee
Aaannd every time I wanna throw papers but then realize I have to then clean them up.
I'M DONE!!! with all my homework!!
For the semester at least. Now gotta order textbooks for January's classes.
Was a good day. Early morning coffee with the Library Goddess with special guest star THE COOL AUNT with her chai tea latte as always.
We put the finishing touches on our newsletter then they took off for work. I stayed a bit and finished things up. Now just gotta upload it and send her the link so she can pass it on to be added to the website. Huzzah!
After that was 9 hours of work, only 1 of them at the desk. And it was Youth Services. Staff meeting at 9, periodicals at 10, off desk doing aide timesheets with Slim Shady at 11, lunch at 12 - actually got to eat with Slim Shady and literally can't remember the last time that happened cause we never get scheduled for lunch together ever - meeting from 1:30-3:00, off desk 'til 4 working on volunteer stuff with my volunteer, circ work and holds at 4, then YS at 5.
Weirdness, but quite relaxing.
After work added posts to the discussion boards and submitted my reference interview paper. So back to the huzzah!
Huzzah!
Tomorrow is back to work as usual then I have Saturday off and class Sunday with a soup luncheon. More on that later.
I know, I'm boring. I'm sorry. Here. Have some useless information.
-If you blow torch Pepto Bismol you would get a hunk of metal.
-Your foot and your forearm are the same length.
-The only domestic animal not mentioned in the bible is a cat.
- The infinity sign is called a lemniscate.
-You can put a price on fitness. It's $25.
OUT!
legitimate pre-midnight post, holy crap tag in use.

Knock, knock, knock, Penny. Knock, knock, knock, Penny. Knock, knock, knock, Penny.
Oh, Reference class.
Filled with 17 brilliant people who can't navigate a discussion line.
But the thing with an uneven number is that it throws everyone off cause when you hit the end you have to go all the way around. And moving over turns into moving two over, and apparently some of us suck at line dancing more than others.
"can i help you find anything?"
"a comic that depicts a woman whose bosom can't be used as a flotation device."
But we talked a lot about some good reference guidelines - censorship, respect, and all that. And downloaded some cool new software for Word for this reference website thing.
Which I now am supposed to pass on to Superwoman cause I am a spy in the house of me.
After class the Library Goddess and I met up to work on the newsletter that gets sent out to all the library people. No pressure.
Though the majority of it is copy and paste. Which I'm a total pro at, yeehaw.
"what are you waiting for?"
"they're in a group, i'm scared."
Then after that I stopped and got a burger with money that the Cool Aunt left for me on her door.
Cause she's cool like that.
Whiskey river bbq burger with fries.
It's amusing because I called on my way home and it was ready by the time I got there.
Awesomeness.
"i feel like two different people, Dr. Jekyll and Mrs. Whore."
So, now that I'm home, I'm taking a much needed break cause it's my last day off for a while, to watch some Big Bang Theory. Tomorrow I will finish my website though it's not due until Friday, and then start work on the newsletter - which I can't do yet anyway cause I don't have the stuff to put in it.
And I think that's it for homework this week.
I think.
I mean, there's more next week, there will always be more.
Maybe it's just timing but I feel like there will always be homework.
Like, even after I'm graduated, there will always be homework.
Mostly cause I keep inheriting all these responsibilities at work and don't have time to finish everything whilst there.
"she doesn't have a boyfriend, she has a Sheldon."
Oh well, if life was easy then I would get bored so I'm good with it.
Tomorrow is back to work so I should go to bed at a semi-decent hour as I was up pretty late last night.
"i feel like i should say, 'that bitch!' but i don't have enough information."
Here's even more useless information for you.
-Off! and similar mosquito repellents don't really repel - they hide you. The spray blocks the mosquito's sensors so they don't realize you are there.
-Duck tape was originally green and developed by Johnson & Johnson for the US military, which wanted a waterproof tape that would keep the moisture out of - and blend in with - their ammunition cases. During the postwar house boom, it was discovered that it was also good for heating and air conditioning duct work, so the color was changed from army green to silver and duck tape became duct tape.
-The homes on Wisteria Lane were lived in by the Cleavers, the Hardy Boys, and the men of Animal House before they were rebuilt and remodeled for Desperate Housewives
-60 Minutes is the only TV show with no theme song or music
-The Magna Doodle that hung on the inside of Joey and Chandler's apartment door had a different picture every episode of Friends. I KNEW THAT ONE. Also, the frame that Monica and Rachel had hanging on the back of their door around the peep hole was originally a mirror that broke during filming, but they liked it so they kept it.
-The technical (copyrighted) name for the mini marshmallows found in Lucky Charms is "Marbits". They were invented by General Mills VP John Holahan when he cut up a few orange circus peanuts, stirred them into a bowl of cheerios and was impressed with the results.
-The distinctive smell that you experience upon opening a box of crayons comes from stearic acid - which is the formal name for processed beef fat.
-Of the 20 possible answers on a Magic 8-ball, ten are positive, five are negative and five are neutral. Which, according to statisticians gives a high degree of accuracy to the ball's ability to forecast.
aaannd that's all for now.
have a good night!

"Okay, here it is. We go home. We vomit." "And?" "That's all I got so far."
So, it's official.
Fearless Leader has officially left us for greener pastures.
I wish her good luck, but will miss her just the same.
Walked out with her for the last time, sad day. Took a picture in front of the sign and all that jazz.
Will definitely miss our food and movie nights as they actually understood the day-to-day life stuff. Oh well, Slim Shady is still around, and maybe we'll take a road trip down to see her at her new job.
Today? Flew by pretty quickly. More website stuff, still waiting for approval by two more supervisors and then I'm gold - though they both just got back from vacation so I don't know how long it will be.
Kind of stoked, I have "teen scenes" page where I list a bunch of events in town that they might be interested in. Taking forever to find stuff though cause the paper's website only includes so many.
Google helps.
Had 3 volunteers come in - well, technically 4 but I haven't really worked with that one and he only comes in 4 hours a month.
Other than her leaving and website updates I really got nothing.
Here, take some more useless information
Funkspiel - was the name given to a counter-espionage operation carried out by the Nazi's during the second World War.
Horrible meaning, but fantastic word.
I'm totally exhausted and my heart is racing. No idea why. Like it won't stop.
Not that I want it to stop completely.
Should lie down, happens pretty often though, goes with that weird circulation thing. I'm gonna shutup and move on.
Yes I AM aware that this post is incredibly boring. Let me fix it with some Charmed quotes.
Though I'm sure some or most of you are probably thinking that will in fact just add to the boringness in which case I could totally take you on. Got 8 years worth of ammunition to handle it.
Pretty sure my Mom is tired of the show, along with either of the two Mummy movies.
Yes, there were only 2, I'm not counting the crappy 3rd edition.
Moving on.
Well because it's your damn fairy tale and it's alive and frozen in our kitchen.
So I take it you guys heard about Chicken.
Rooster.
Holly Marie Combs was my favorite. She kicked ass. She's in Pretty Little Liars now, though as much as she rocks I don't have an urge to look into that one.
Still looking for one with the "i'm gonna save your ass so I can kick it myself later" reference. She always had the best one-liners, even before Shannon left.
Will find it eventually, have a gigantor print out of all my favorites cause I'm a serious nerd. Actually went through and marked down all the episodes they're in.
Did I mention I'm a gigantor nerd?
Might go get that now. Can't do anything but lay down anyway. Will most likely pass out before I reach them. Tomorrow perhaps.
Okay, more boringness. I'm out.

If I had legs, I would kick you.
Wearing black tomorrow for Fearless Leader's last day.
Still crying inside.
Today was good.
I'M APPROVED!
Well, my website at least, which means tomorrow I get to send out the link asking for their feedback and a photo to add to the profiles page. Figure I'll send out the link to the members and prospective members. Kind of their own cool place, will attempt to keep it updated as much as possible. Much easier than overloading their inboxes with random news. Though I'll probably still keep sending out quite a few reminder emails.
Mom brought me some fruit. Think this is still part of her making sure I'm actually eating campaign. Still remember her opening my fridge one day, seeing nothing but alcohol, turning around and saying, "let's go grocery shopping!" It's not that I drink a lot, it's more of the opposite. I keep receiving it and it adds up quickly.
She's got me googling the eagle. There used to be an eagle on the building across from work but when the office moved to somewhere else - theirs not ours - they took it with them.
Other highlights of the day...hmmm...oh got to plug BossLady's meter. I was stuck on an e-book question and she was on her way out the door. We switched. It was amusing though cause she gave me the right car model but the wrong license plate number. It didn't help that it was parked next to something similar and with a few of the letters she gave me originally.
Only way I could tell it was the right car was because the other had an hour left on it and this was completely gone.
What else?
Oh, Carter has been semi-sane tonight. He's quite calm and sitting next to me as opposed to his behavior as of late.
Woops, I lied. Pulled out the cereal and now he's all ticked cause I moved.
Blah.
Super tired at the moment. Did some editing, probably should have been working on some homework but as I am the worst editor ever I chose that instead. And now I have "time", yes I have time even though I'm working, taking classes, doing homework and GA stuff I still have more time than when I was doing camp stuff and work. Granted the GA stuff and class is just starting.
Will work on homework tomorrow.
I know, this is boring. I'm sorry.
Here, fun fact for you:
Take any number, double it, add 10, divide it by 2, subtract your original number - it will always equal 5.
For example 11x2 = 22+10 = 32/2 = 16-11 = 5
or 7x2 = 14+10 = 24/2 = 12-7 = 5
Food day tomorrow, perhaps I'll take some fruit. I've got a fridgefull.
Clip of the day:
Helped a guy with some computer stuff and he brought up Charmed, like a super obscure reference. I was like, "you're a fan?" awesomeness.
"and get my hair wet?"
Oh right, Old New Guy and I are on a crusade to make "sour" a new trend. As in, "that's sour man" meaning "that rocks man."
While sour seems like it would be a bad thing it's similar to "wicked sweet" or "mad skills".
"and why is the g silent?"
I've got a fridgefull.

here with you, here with me.
Damnit, Hardison!
Finally caught up on Leverage. Finished the fourth season whilst working on camp stuff.
That's called multi-tasking.
Now I'm on to Wipeout so I can sleep.
Gotta say, I miss Jill but really don't mind this Lachey chick so much. Though I did totally miss that he got remarried.
Not that I was big into 98 degrees. More about the Spice Girls and NSync.
Today seemed to fly by, that's probably cause I got to sleep in and didn't go in until noon. Woohoo!
Was a quiet day, not sure if it was caused by the Batman movie tragedy or the weather. Either totally suck.
I haven't checked on it for a while, did he explain why he did it?
Other than the fact that he's the Joker?
The role only belongs to one man and he's already dead.
Stuff like that is awful. I just don't understand it.
My cat keeps biting me.
I know that that problem is small potatoes compared to what else is going on in the world but it's still obnoxious.
The water bottle did work for a while but now he's not phased.
It's annoying.
Excited for the shortened day tomorrow, mostly cause I get to take pictures of the Food Drive sculptures. Cause I'm nerdy like that. Will probably upload some if possible.
After that it'll be more camp stuff.
I know this post is total crap, I'm sure I'll have plenty of quotes tomorrow.
I'm on it.
Just for you.
Here, have some more useless information:
-X's on letters originated as crosses back in the 1000's. When lords would sign their names they would kiss the cross after signing to signify they were faithful to god and their king. Over time it slanted to x's.
-Each deck of cards represents a major pillar or economy in the Middle Ages: Heart is church, Spades is military, Clubs agriculture and Diamonds merchants.
-Most of American car horns honk in the key of F.
-Most toilets flush in E flat.
-It is estimated that millions of trees are accidentally planted by squirrels who bury acorns and forget where they buried them.
-There are three other versions under the current Mona Lisa.
-There is such thing as coffee-flavored PEZ.
-Honey is the only food that won't spoil.
-According to US laws a beer commercial can never show a person actually drinking a beer.
I'm doubtful about that last one, but come to think of it I don't remember anyone drinking one during a 30 second segment.
Will have to look into that.
And here's some fun quotes from Rocket Power just cause I can
-"that should be on the to-don't list."
-"you're like a sixth finger. it just gets in the way and it's kinda freakish."
-"i pulled a bobby brady, dude!"
could have sworn this one was titled "these are the moments" but maybe that's just cause it was our prom theme.
or cause she repeats it a lot.
yes, prom theme.
the one the boyfriend took me to senior year.
drove the tbird as it's his favorite.
i like the vette, but me and my then boyfriend drove it the year before so had to switch it up.
he lived in fear of my mother driving his car back to his house.
he's kind of a car nut.
but that's okay, i like my boys geeky.
Speaking of geeks I should crash while I can. Big day tomorrow.

Three years later...
My air conditioner is broken.
Not cool.
So I got my college yearbook in the mail today. From junior year. 3 years later.
Still waiting on senior year's.
Interesting coming from a teacher's college, you'd think they'd have an organized system in place.
Watched more Dark Shadows whilst doing homework. Got a lot done, just have to scan and upload it, then explain two literacies it involves. Then upload reviews for all the books I read this week. All by 11:59PM. Not a big deal, I'm off at 6.
Ordered pizza cause I'm lazy. Ate like one slice. And some breadsticks. And cherry coke.
Sheldon: Is this your card.
Leonard: Nope.
Sheldon: Drat. Is this your card?
Leonard: Nope.
Sheldon: I'll be right back.
I so love Amy and her obsessive "Besties" thing with Penny, it's too funny. Trying to be all normal.
Oh, PS, shelved her book today. Apparently she is not only a scientist with a PhD but also a published author.
My air conditioner is still broken.
Drat.
Calling maintenance tomorrow.
Useless Information:
-Mona Lisa has no eyebrows.
-The only king without a mustache in a deck of cards is the king of hearts.
-Every minute in the US 6 people turn 17.
-Each king in a deck of cards represents an actual king in history.
Spades - King David
Hearts - Charlemagne
Clubs - Alexander the Great
Diamonds - Julius Caesar
-Harrison Ford has a species of spiders named after it.
-Upper and lower case letters got their name from the cases they were kept in, the bigger letters were kept in the case on top of the case full of the smaller ones.
-In 1784 the US had a state called Franklin after Ben but four years later it was incorporated into Tennessee
-Prince Charles and Prince William never travel together in the same airplane in case of a crash.
-Indiana has a city named Santa Clause.
-The Sanskrit word for war means desire for more cows.
And that's all I got.
And I'm hot. Cause my air conditioner's out.
But I said that already.
So I'm out, staff meeting tomorrow.
"Paradise City" Guns N' Roses
was a signature song in high school between myself and a classmate.
despite the grammatical error in their name they're a pretty great band.
love the jam out session in the video.
Not cool.

Thumbs up for shawarma.
Highlights of the day:
-Woke up early, this time 8:25 instead of 8:35. Aren't you proud mother? I don't have to be at work until 9:05 and I usually leave around 8:45 so I'm good. This morning I was early, almost stopped for a donut and coffee but settled for a granola bar from my locker and some fruity flavored water.
-Stocked the Young Adult display as it was pretty much pillaged from the weekend. Proud of that one, actually brought up the YA circulation numbers as it brings attention to the section. I'm hoping it doesn't get converted to displaying something else.
-Squirt came in for her volunteer hours. Invited me to her volleyball games tonight.
-For once it wasn't me getting the creepy stalker I want to date you note!! Not that I don't look back fondly at "likes ass or jazz" incident, but seriously, the fact that Slim Shady was on the receiving end instead of myself really made my day. Ask her. It's highly amusing.
-Hit up the volleyball games. One sand, the other turf. She's pretty good, had some good serves and digs I was proud.
-Went to Babylon. A surprisingly short journey from here. Though we did miss the turn. But Danny & the Juniors kept telling me to go to "the hop" and I think my mind must have jumped to "where is the closest apartment complex with speed bumps?" and decided to go there first. We called it the scenic route.
-Ordered the shawarma at Babylon and gotta say, it was awesome. If the Avengers approved I figured it was worth a shot. Got a box-o-shawarma in the fridge which I'll probably pull out and reheat at about 3AM when I'm in and out of consciousness yet think I must eat something or I'll die. Is that just me?
-Talked with camp partner in crime and talked through some camp stuff. More of that this weekend after the weekend.
-Posted the homework that's due tomorrow at 11:59. Woohoo! Just gotta finish the three assignments by Thursday at 11:59 and I'm gold. Until next week. Then it'll be more of the same.
Quotes of the day:
"Stop being crazy in my dreams."
"Oh, my big toe!"
More Useless Information:
-The Red Sea is not red. However, the yellow river is actually yellow, though not for the reason one would assume.
-India has a bill of rights for cows.
-27% of Americans believe we never landed on the moon.
-Elephants are the only mammal that can't jump.
-A group of tigers is called a "streak".
-The bible has been translated into Klingon.
-Peladophobia is the fear of bald people.
-Kemo Sabe means soggy shrub in Navajo.
-No president of the US has been an only child.
-Frogs cannot swallow without blinking.
-Bulls are colorblind therefore they will usually charge at a matador's cape no matter what color it is.
-The triangular shape that Toblerone chocolate is packaged in is protected by law.
-When cows lay down they get up back feet first so if you get enough people to sit on the back end the cow won't be able to stand.
-Every year more people are killed by donkeys than in aircraft crashes.
"Uprising" Muse
from way back before everyone knew him because of kate hudson. classic.
I listened to a lot of Muse this weekend. It drives me nuts when a close friend is mad at me so I turn back to hard rock. Blasts it out for about 3 minutes until it comes back. Thankfully another song starts immediately after.
Think this one is my favorite aside from "Bliss". Though critics say they sound like Radiohead. Maybe. Thoughts?
Tomorrow's Word of the Day: "Criticaster: a minor or incompetent critic. The ending -aster is used to form nouns referring to someone who is inept or unskillful in a certain sphere of activity, for example, poetaster, a person who writes bad poetry, or medicaster, a person who falsely claims to have medical skills."
I'll leave it to my regulars to come up with how to use it in a sentence. I'm headed to the fridge to heat up some shawarma.

Raise your capri to the sun.
Other things I learned this week:
-"Almost" is the longest word in the English language with all letters in alphabetical order.
-The reason firehouses have circular staircases is because they used to have horses and horses can walk up regular stairs, but not circular ones.
-My family is capable of remaining sane and semi-calm. We get thrown out of places like Valentino's and churches, so I was proud we made it the whole way through without a glare or comment.
-There's a law in California guaranteeing sunshine to every resident.
- On average more people fear spiders more than they do death.
Finished my homework and posted it. That's pretty much all I got today. 9-6 at work, obviously, did a lot of supply stuff. Jammed with a few of my favorite people.
I'm trying to figure out if I like pistachios or not. They're actually really gross. But I've eaten half a box over the past week.
They're gross.
Vomitrocious even.
But they're here.
And I'm eating them cause they're here.
They need to go away.
But if I eat them then they'll be away.
And i don't have to buy them anymore.
"What if a simulated van hits me?"
"I'll hit you in the face with a pillow."
Name that quote.
So yeah homework's done, I'm good until Saturday which is class. Then it'll be more of the same.
I'm out, long day tomorrow. And the day after that.
Started food drive planning stage, I'm stoked! Activity is staying under wraps at the moment as it's a work in progress but I'll tell you all about it when it's finalized.
"Barbara Ann" Beach Boys
grew up with this oen.
oh yeah, title is from 2 Broke Girls. Which I'm way behind on. But Max throws Caroline a birthday party and it's pathetic. And they drink capri sun. and it's fantastic. The episode, not the party.

Life Is Short
Juice boxes are unloaded, edible campfires are stuffed and sealed, glow in the dark stars are purchased and delivered, my end of the deal is done.
Now all that's left is the actual kickoff party, which will be madness but well worth it. We're thinking around 200 kids, all in one area so it should be interesting.
But they've done it so many times they're pros, I'm just there to help where I can.
So I got to spend my morning at the home branch, was great to catch up with some friends, though it was mad hysteria cause of us being closed for the holiday. Basically a massive backlog for check-in plus delivery plus all the incoming from the day.
But we made it through unscathed.
After that it was kickoff prep with the edible campfires, basically sticking a bunch of pretzel sticks in bags and making sure they had all the ingredients in each bag, and then I made some more progress on the booklist.
And by more progress I mean like 2 titles, with the holiday and summer reading there's rarely time to sit down, let alone work on anything else.
But I love my job, and it's never boring. Especially not during summer reading. As an aide I loved it cause there was always massive carts to shelve.
I have this urge to see Dark Shadows yet again. Think I'm gonna hit it up with the Queen of Awesome. She's always fun to jam out with.
Speaking of fun, ran across some more useless information/random trivia over my lunch break. Cause that's what I do. When I'm not playing Angry Birds or doing homework, which speaking of, I got my official e-mail this week reminding me of the assignment.
Gotta read some kids books and an article about children's lit. Not looking forward to leaving at 7AM on Saturday mornings but it's with the Library Goddess so the coffee I stop for on the way will keep me alive and alert.
Plus she's fun so I won't sleep.
Not that I would sleep, I have yet to sleep through a class.
What was I talking about before this?
Oh right, random useless information.
- You're more likely to get stung by a bee on a windy day than in any other weather.
- By raising you legs slowly and laying on your back you cannot sink into quicksand.
- The longest one-syllable word in the English language is screeched.
- The music band UB40 got its name from an unemployment form in England.
- To avoid long encounters with the press President Reagan often took reporters' questions with his helicopter roaring in the background.
- In Baltimore it is illegal to mistreat oysters.
- Grapes explode with cooked in the microwave.
I'm intrigued.
May test that one out.

Will I cry? Will I smile? As you run down the aisle?
Today was good.
They fixed YA.
aka the Young Adult area.
Made it less like a waiting room, expanded it, yet closed it off to the creepers waiting to get into the computer lab...pretty much everything that I asked for so I'm happy.
Gonna take the TAB kids for a detour after the meeting, see what they think. And if they have interest in making posters to deck out the new area.
What else?
I finally caught up with supplies, well the requests at least. They're submitted and everything will get ordered by the end of the week...
Went grocery shopping, put air in my tires, did laundry and dishes...
Ummm...oh, switched out the "teen scenes in green" display for one on National Humor Month.
Which is apparently April.
Had no idea 'til I cruised the Chase book in search of display ideas.
Also didn't realize there are like 5 library-related holidays in the month of April.
There's like National Library Week and then Library Worker day and like School Library Day and Drop Everything and Read Day and then there's another but I'm blanking. I'll check tomorrow.
I love that book.
Chase's holiday calendar - that's how I found out about Spunky Old Broad's month. And that display rocked man.
It's just filled with the most random holidays ever. And they're all documented!
Like April 15th is "Well That Sucks" day.
Yes, I'm completely serious.
Because it's tax day but it's also the anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic.
So everything sucks about that day.
Hence the holiday's title.
There's also a day in April - which again I'm blanking the exact date though I'm sure I could google it - that is Louie Louie Day. Like the song. Apparently it's been covered more than any other rock song in history and there was some mention of it almost becoming the state song for Washington.
Here are some other random tidbits I learned throughout the day:
-If you went out into space you would explode before you suffocated because there's no air pressure.
-Isaac Asimov is the only author to have a book in every Dewey Decimal category.
-In Alabama it is illegal to stab yourself to gain someone's pity.
-The average American will eat 35,000 cookies in a lifetime. (though probably more in the case of Pete Lattimer)
-All polar bears are left-handed.
-Walt Disney was afraid of mice.
-The Guinness Book of Records holds the record for being the book most often stolen from Public Libraries. (though in lincoln that honor would go to either the twilight series or Guide to the Ghosts of Lincoln)
-All 50 states are listed across the top of the Lincoln Memorial on the back of the $5 bill.
-In Florida it is illegal to fish while driving across a bridge. (um, duh?)
-The first person to go over Niagara falls was Annie Edson-Taylor. She made the trip in a wooden barrel and survived.
-Wine will spoil if exposed to light, that's why the bottles are tinted.
again, these may be complete crap but i found them entertaining.
and yes that was a warehouse reference with lattimer, get over it. i'm still in shock and denial and will remain that way until the season opens and everything is fixed!!
Quote of the Day:
"I love cheese!!" Fearless Leader's reason for not transitioning from vegetarian to vegan. But she yelled it so it was hilarious.
Reminded me of my I like cheese but I don't like cheese speech. Go here: My Life in Closed Captions: New Shoes, the Cheese Speech, Warped Tour and MXPX...
Song of the night:
"It's All Been Done" Barenaked Ladies
i was thinking about making it Barenaked Ladies Appreciation Week but then realized that if someone didn't know that was the name of a band they may take it horribly horribly wrong.
And I'm out for the night. 9 hours of work tomorrow plus some editing means I'll be completely zonked so I should sleep while I can.

Don't wake up in a road side ditch.
Things I learned today:
-In Duluth, Minnesota it is illegal to allow animals to sleep in a bakery.
-In Idaho, you may not fish on a camel's back.
-All of the earth's continents are wider at the north than in the south - and nobody knows why.
-A group of frogs is called an army.
-90% of women who walk into a department store immediately turn to the right.
(those may be complete crap, just FYI)
-No matter how well-planned out things may seem, they can still go sideways.
The last one was especially true for today. They've finished the majority of the painting which means that books go back on the wall along the outside - or the car manuals at least cause that's their new permanent location.
When they took them down they attempted to keep them in order on the shelves and then line up the shelves so that it would be easier to put them back up....but the plan failed a bit.
Mostly because the lines they were put in were a bit out of order. But whatever, two hours later they were fixed and up.
The movers were seriously impressive, the Awesome Aide and I sat back and watched as these muscle-bound guys picked up the shelves with the books still on them and carried them around the room, then lifted them over their head and installed them.
And these are heavy books.
Dude.
Anyway, as well-planned as it was, since they weren't putting them back in the same section as they took them down it turned into a bit of a mess.
But we got it.
One of the dudes said if something goes wrong they'd have my back.
So Chet's Moving Service has got my back.
Made me feel special, haha.
But there was a lot of re-shelving things and organizing today which made me realize all this new supplies stuff I need to order, blah. I'm behind, but that'll be my goal for tomorrow: order conquer, tape, baskets, batteries....there was more but I'm blanking. Good thing I wrote it down.
Aside from the constant running all over the place was the constant heat which didn't help things but we're in Nebraska so we're used to it, anyway we found ways to distract ourselves, talking about the big game and our favorite commercials which is a frequent topic between myself and The New Guy.
Here are some of our favorites:
Make 7-Up Yours!
i love orlando jones and this is fantastic.
Don't Wake Up in a Road Side Ditch
"when people think you're tough people want to see how tough..."
it's just so random!!! i love it! and all the other variations, but this is the best.
Darth Vader and a Volkswagen
love it.
ALL ABOARD!!!! The 5G Train!
"i dunno, kinda looks like a girl"
That's Brisk, Baby!

I want a Golden Darthy!!
"...well that blows..."
That kid's got game
"and the babes start snickerdoodling and then you go on lots of dates!"

Song of the night:
Because Jordis is in my top 5 for The Voice and she rocked it tonight, here's her blind audition
"Maybe I'm Amazed" Jordis Unga

the one where things get all mushy and weird
Think I’m gonna start counting how many cars crash and burn in this series.
I’m up to at least 5 and I’m only three discs into the first season.
Next up is the Beamish episode – which I always dread cause it’s weird. Pretty sure that’s true for all Die-hard Angel fans, you just mention Beamish and they all groan.
But when I watch a season I watch the whole season so I’ll try to get through it without giggling or referencing Citizen Kane again, don’t ask.
This whole sick thing is turning me into a social leaper.
I haven’t talked to my best friend in days, I haven’t seen my boyfriend in weeks...a fact that both of them at this very moment are none-too-pleased about.
But I’m a crap communicator. Always have been.
Take this blog for instance, sure I post every night but when is the last time I had a serious entry of any kind?
I will pay you money if you can find an entry on this thing that’s completely serious with no quotes or cheesy references at all.
To me that just sounds completely awkward and boring. I mean, who wants to read something by someone who whines all the time, it’d be like nonstop Meredith narrations on Grey’s.
Not that she doesn’t have her own moments of comedy.
But that’s my theory on life: keep your head down, then when in doubt make them laugh. It’s just easier to keep everything bottled up, then you don’t have to deal with it.
Apparently, thinking like that gets me in trouble with my friends and family.
Working in public service hasn’t helped with this attitude.
And it’s not that I don’t like my job. I love it. But that’s the problem. I’ve become what people refer to as a work-a-holic, so much so that when I get home I’m so exhausted that I don’t want to talk to anyone or deal with drama of any kind.
Which makes me a really crappy best friend and a really boring girlfriend.
So, for those of you out there who are still reading this, here are real words from a very crappy communicator.
I’m grateful for all of you. You are both fantastic and crazy for putting up with my endless amounts of crap.
I may not say it enough, but when I do I mean it. Thanks for sticking with me.
See what I mean about awkward and boring? Though it was and is sincere.
And now, to detract from the seriousness of the moment which I feel is necessary in life both virtual and real, here are some things I learned today:
-In Utah, birds have the right of way on all highways, do keep in mind that these are from the internet so they could be complete crap
-A hippo can open its mouth wide enough to fit a 4 foot tall child inside, how they figured that one out i do not want to know
-If a lobster loses an eye it will grow another one, see that's just not natural
-The powder on chewing gum is finely-ground marble, seriously? that can't be healthy.
-The 7-11 Extreme Gulp is 50% bigger than the volume of the human stomach, bet that don't put that on the label.
-L. Frank Baum named Oz after a file cabinet in his office, one cabinet was labed A-N, and the second was labeled O-Z, i enjoy how macguire used his name as inspiration for Elphaba
-The famous Casanova (Giacomo Casanova) was a librarian for many years before he died, yeah i bet he put the service in public service
-Since 1978, at least 37 people have died as a result of shaking vending machines in an attempt to get free merchandise. More than 100 people have been injured, which is ironic cause i read this one outloud literally five minutes before the New Guy came in and was talking about shaking the thing to get something unstuck.
Alright, that's all for tonight. Dentist appointment tomorrow morning and then a staff meeting, plus a whole day of joy at the library.
"Bend Me Shape Me" The American Breed
i enjoy that they sway in a choreographed manner.
