So apparently it's a crime against humanity that I've never seen the Jurassic Park movies.

So the boyfriend is taking me to see it in 3D this weekend.

Speaking of movies, I'm changing my Scale of Awesome rating for Warm Bodies to 8/10.

I liked it.

And upon further inspection, it deserves a higher rating.

Plus I was like rambling about it today to the New Girl - who has similar taste and we rec shows/movies back and forth all the time, got her hooked on Warehouse...well her, Queen of the Known Universe, Wordie, Infoman, the Wordsmith, etc.

It was good.

And I like the blonde chick - Teresa Palmer, had to look that one up - and then the main dude was the boy in About a Boy.

Rachel Weisz, Hugh Grant, if you haven't seen it look it up, it's amusing.

So today was good.

Much less stressful than yesterday's mass hysteria.

The Favorite Aunties and their husbands stopped by to pick up a book.

Gave them a tour, well of 2nd floor at least.

In the limited time I had before I had to move to the next desk.

But it was good to see them.

So that was the highlight of the workday.

Actually started the workday early, went in for training in the morning - constant software updates with our new system so we learned new search stuff.

Which I understood more about because of my cataloging class, huzzah.

Dig it.

And then of course the papers I wrote on Koha for my Info Tech class.

Coincidentally, the professor for that class is now our Assistant Director.

aka my Boss's Boss's Boss's assistant.

But it was good, learned some new stuff, wasn't a fan of it being so early but had to do it before opening.

And going in early meant I got to get off early so I did my fair share of errands tonight before crashing on the couch and watching The Voice, Castle, Bones - holy crap Claudia Donovan alert! sorry, Warehouse 13, I thought for sure they were going to make her the killer. I was like nooooooooo!!! not Claudia!! - and then Splash.

That show is getting even more interesting - I know, isn't it awful - but seriously, tonight they did team diving and dude, Drake Bell I love and Katherine Webb is cool so they did this synchronized dive called the "javelin". You gotta see it for yourselves...



I know, I know, it's ridiculous.

But I like him.

And I like Rory Bushfield - good god, they stuck him Kendra what's her name who *spoiler alert* chickened out on their dive and forfeited.

Which meant everyone moved on but her.

I would have been pissed if it effected him too.

Anyway, so I'm rooting for Rory and Drake.

And now Katherine, cause that was badass.

I was also productive tonight, in case you were like, holy crap that's a lot of TV, cause I did homework.

And made plans with Chief - an old friend - we're gonna get dinner on Thursday.

Tomorrow I'm going out to see the boyfriend.

Friday he's coming here.

Saturday is the music mentor's benefit thing.

Oh, and have I mentioned that I'm going on a motorcar ride with the boyfriend end of April?

Remember how I mentioned he has a slight obsession with trains?

Nothing I'm not used to.

If you know my dad you know what I'm talking about, I grew up surrounded by trains.

But the boyfriend - and his dad - have taken it to a whole new level, living next to the tracks and also buying, they're called Speeders.

It's basically a big box that rides on the tracks.

He owns like 7 now.

Though in a couple weeks there will be more.

He's riding a train all the way out to Seattle to get more actually.

But that's more of a long story.

Anyway, so end of the month we're going to Iowa to ride one of them.

Am actually pretty excited about it.

Should be fun.

And I get to meet all of his railroad friends - which means he has to introduce me to one in particular.

Which I think he's avoiding, mostly because the friend gives him crap for dating me.

See, he knows my dad.

Well, everyone knows my dad - it's a whole train community thing - but anyway, he knows my dad (and refers to me as his daughter) and he knows that me and the boyfriend used to date.

I did mention that right?

We dated in high school?

And in college?

He took me to prom.

Reconnected after we'd both grown up a bit.

Yeah, yeah, I know aww.

Don't give me that girly crap, I'm already giddy enough at the moment.

Legitimately. Deliriously. Happy.

Which does not happen often for me.

So I'm enjoying it while it lasts.

But enough of that, has anyone watched the 100th episode of Psych?

Much better than the 100th episode of Castle I just watched, what was that? Seriously?

Anyway, Psych is basically a tribute to Clue.

Which is one of my favorite movies of all time.

And we've watched it at Teen Camp like 3 times, kind of a tradition much like Cosmo's War of the Planets.

There are so many great references, I love it!

Mrs. White was my favorite character.

Funny story, my family used to play Clue and when you're not playing you pick the cards of the who, with what and where, you know?

And so I always picked the ones from the movie, like Mrs. White in the Billiard Room with the rope, etc.

So it was either Oldest Sister or King of Useless Knowledge, but they figured out that system and so they went around guessing the movie 'til they got it right.

Geez, I haven't played that game in forever.

Actually, there's an extended version that's even better.

Oldest Sister and King of Useless Knowledge actually own it and we used to play it all the time, me and the neighbor girl, whom I still talk to cause she's awesome. And she's getting married. And so is her brother. Which reminds me I need to RSVP for that online.

Anyway, the game was called Master Detective and it had more characters, like there was a Miss Peach and Madame Rose and Sargent Grey, and then there were more rooms like a Carriage House and all that.

I can't remember if there were more weapons too, but some of the weapon game pieces were missing so instead of Master Detective, we used to call it Master Defective.

"I'll make a note of it" was common reference.

I kept thinking today was Thursday.

Like this morning I went downstairs expecting a staff meeting, nope that's tomorrow morning.

Just started off the day on a weird note.

Didn't help that I was freaked all day because of the interview tonight.

For Diversity in Libraries class we have to interview a librarian of color but they have to be from this selected list so the one I chose works in Seattle. Anyway, we set up a time and I had all my questions ready but I was still freaked the whole day.

But she was great, had a lot to say and all that.

Immediately after I wrote up the transcript - we have to submit that plus an overview them comment on others, however it's not due 'til the like 24th.

So I'm way early on this one.

Same with last night's, it's not due until Friday but I knew I wouldn't have time to do it later so I got it done then.

Even if I did go insane sitting in the same position and staring at the same screen for three hours.

Gotta learn how to take breaks.

But see when I take a break then I'm not motivated to start again so I just don't.

Anyway, I'm glad to have them done. Today at work was pretty good. Aside from the think it's Thursday keep opening the wrong schedule thing.

Figured out my Library Golf logistics. I'm thinking 9 holes will be enough. That way I'll have enough TAB kids to each cover a hole and circulate.
If I put two up on fourth floor, then they hit it in the elevator to ride down to second.
Then we'll put one in the biographies,
One in music,
One in nonfiction,
One in YA/Language,
One at the bottom of the stairs - we'll hit it from second and end at the base of first,
One in adult fiction and then
One in youth services to end it.

That's nine right?

Anyway, now that I've got it okay'd and my kids want to do it it's full speed ahead. Bring it.

Though still waiting for them to get back to me so we can finalize our other two events.

They're good kids, they want to do more like fundraising stuff, however we're not allowed to fund raise on library property - which I only know because of the food drive. Remember last summer where my partner and I set up that build-something-with-the-food-donated competition? The wording had to be approved on the posters so that it made it sound like we weren't asking them for food, but asking them to help their favorite branch win the competition. It was ridiculous.

Oh Halloween. Candy and costumes galore but the highlight was definitely seeing my brother in law dressed as Joe Dirt in flannel and a blonde wig.

We jammed at the house watching Clue and Scooby Doo. "To make a long story short" "TOO LATE!" Both classic Halloween shows. We watch Clue every year at camp on the last night after our cheesy movies. It's just so fantastic, Tim Curry at his finest. Well, that and Rocky Horror. He's good with the Halloween cult movies.

I will have to watch Hocus Pocus tomorrow night after work. Along with writing my narrative. But it's only a page so I can handle that. Should probably figure out what class I want to take next semester as well, just waiting to hear back from Library Goddess.

Alright, off to watch Castle on DVR. Gonna be sweet!

I'm the butler, I like to keep the kitchen tidy.

I love that someone typed "exploded babysitter" into google and got to my blog. That's fantastic. Also amusing, another person's search for "O Lord of Light" ended up with 2G's version. Hope we didn't scar them for life.

Wore my 2G shirt to work today. Well, tonight anyway. I usually wear jeans and a nice shirt if I'm headed to the main branch since I'm like a professional there. Or para-professional. Their words not mine. This is why I love camp. Got back to my roots and wore t-shirts and sport shorts the whole time. That's the actual me. I used to wear tear-aways, t-shirts and a backwards hat every day to school for years. This whole jeans and a nice shirt thing is like prom to me. Every day. Which is why it's nice to throw in a superhero shirt or funny reference one every once in a while when I'm just an Aide.
Besides, I've learned not to wear those shirts at the other branch. If they're going to stare at my chest I would rather them do it in silence and get it over with instead of staring and overwhelming me with conversation about the symbol emblazoned across my chest. That's just awkward.

Staff meeting this morning where my Koha Whisperer thing was made known. Now I'm just nervous they're going to ask me actual questions. Go to someone smart. I'm just a cronie. After that it was covering at the other branch while they had their staff meeting. Okay, I'm calling favorite cause at which branch does she bring pizza to a staff meeting? Yeah. But I got two pieces. Cause it's my branch too. And it was my lunch hour. And that branch is obsessed with all things bread. I blame Space Cadet. Her baking skills got us hooked. They're constantly finding recipes in books and trying to bribe her into making them. It's amusing. She says she'll slip me a few easy recipes that I won't burn down my apartment with. That should be interesting.

After all that fun it was lunch hour - yes a whole hour! that I didn't have to spend finding parking! - so I ran back to the apartment and watched Bonekickers - "like graveyard jenga down here" c'mon you knew that was coming - then went back for three hours and shelved in my bright orange shirt. Joe Studley said I needed to turn it down. It's that bright. I'm proud. Then dinner with Second Sister, got my leftovers in the fridge! I'm stoked for chicken tikka and rice at 3AM. Yes, small children sleep more than I do, get over it.

Then we hit up Barnes and Noble which...okay I used to make fun of it because it was a big bookstore and then they started selling all this other crap and I was like, "get that out of my bookstore!" Now I work at a library, so they can sell whatever they want. Anyway, so I go in, and okay, remember how I'm a nerd. And I got a raise. So what does a nerd do when they get a raise? They buy a wand. That lights up. And is awesome.

Yes a raise. It's interesting in these budget times but I'll take it. Another fun work thing - got my year evaluation! Which is amusing cause I still haven't gotten my 6 month one yet. Again, I'll take it. As long as he doesn't say that I suck. Which, I don't think I do. People are generally glad when I'm there. But I'm a nerd and make them laugh so maybe that's part of it.

Anyway, right, so in between the chicken tikka and the wand-buying was the driving from place to place and I pulled out of the parking lot following her and she's driving and suddenly pulls in the parking lot and starts waving all frantic and flailing. "Why are you following me?!" She was lost. And technically I live like less than a few miles from the place so I guess it would make more sense if I were to lead. So, I led, and got us on the right road and I'm calling Oldest Sister to see if she can meet us and I see Second Sister pass me in the lane next to me. I was like, "What?! She's in the wrong lane!" like chanting it, "She's in the wrong lane, she's in the wrong lane" all while being on the phone with Second Sister when we pull up to the stoplight and she turns...which makes me realize that it was me in the wrong lane. It's another one of those zombie moments, you know when you're driving on a road you take often but to a different destination and you're just used to driving to that place. Anyway, she turned but I was able to switch lanes and turn behind her. Meanwhile Oldest Sister was probably making fun of me the whole time.
OH! BTW - she has threatened to come to my apartment and steal a piece out of all my puzzles. That's just mean. I don't need any help from you to not finish the thing.
