The boyfriend and I went to see Lone Survival tonight.
Before you ask yes, that is Alexander Ludwig aka Cato from the Hunger Games. That speech is much longer in the movie and it immediately follows him doing the Napoleon Dynamite dance, song included.
That was literally the only funny part of the entire movie. The boyfriend said it was probably the goriest war movie he's ever seen. Definitely mine as well, there were so many gross bloody parts that I just literally couldn't watch. And just when you think it's done there's more.
Scale of Awesome says 7/10. It was good, but nothing I want to ever see again.
Kind of like Zero Dark Thirty but with much more blood and bones sticking out of places they're not supposed to be sticking out of.
Blah.
That's pretty much the highlight of today. Other than sleeping in of course. Watched some more Person of Interest, did some laundry.
Now I'm on to the Winter X-Games. Last night it was snowmobile freestyle.
Yes, apparently that is a thing. It's a lot like BMX, except instead of a bike doing flips it's a 450 pound snowmobile.
Stupid idea, but interesting to watch.
Tonight is snowboarding, my favorite. Super excited for the Olympics.

But I guess it has been 3 years.
So, weekend.
Yesterday:

I'll take "Phrases that are only appropriate in a sandwich shop" for 100, Alex.
I was lazy food-wise, went out for lunch and then ordered pizza and breadsticks for supper.
Spinach and feta cheese breadsticks to be exact.
That's right. Be jealous.
Don't really remember much else. I worked. I came home. Was exhausted. Ordered pizza. Oh, I watched some of the new Whose Line is it Anyway on the CW.
Not bad.
Not as good as the Drew Carey version, but not bad.
I really like the addition of a new sketch called Sideways Scene, it's fantastic. Let me see if I can find a clip.
Or, a group of clips, that works too.
I love the Twilight reaction from the crowd and his martial arts jump movie over Wayne. Awesome.
So that was Saturday.
Today:
It snowed. All day.
But it was lazy snow, like super slow falling in big huge chunks.
Which somehow looked lazy so I'm calling it lazy.
Thankfully it was not the packy kind of snow so I was able to unbury my car by myself.
I'm sure my brother-in-law cheered when he didn't get my panic call asking him to come over and help me out of the parking lot.
Every time it snows Superwoman gives me crap cause they don't really plow my lot, they just push it up against the back of our cars so I get stuck and then I'm late so I call my brother-in-law to help me out.
This morning I was early.
Though it didn't really matter, we were the only ones in the building for the majority of the day, aside from the people on the computer.
A coworker and I made predictions for stats. I said I'd probably have 12, but I think I finished in the high twenties so it wasn't too bad.
And I made more progress on my booklist, which is good cause it's due in February.
Then came home, played some video games and watched some more Leverage.
And when I say video games I mean a classic.
Contra.
Dominated.
With the 30 lives cheat code that is. I used to be much better, gonna have to practice so I can get back to the not cheating version.
Tomorrow I'm off - huzzah - no big plans, but I should probably do some Christmas shopping at some point.
Maybe hang up my stocking and some Christmas lights.
I love Christmas lights, but there are some people that take it to the extreme.
And by extreme I mean inflatable stuff and lights galore.
I'm more of a simple girl, decoration-wise.
But I do have lights and places to hang them so that will be my task tomorrow.
Plus play more Contra.
Sounds like a plan.
See, this is what happens when I'm done with homework forever.
I find new distractions.

Oh what a feeling, it must be love.
You know what's truly awesome?
When you have a really crappy day, and then you see your boyfriend and he says like two words and it fixes everything.
So yeah, crappy day, but that happens a lot in public service.
But the boyfriend fixed it, talked me down, distracted me with Dark Shadows. Which I will wait to fully review until I see it again. Which I will. Cause it was fantastic.
Though my stomach is still all weird.
I don't do well with conflict.
I avoid it if all possible.
Mostly because it makes me physically sick.
I got in this knock down, drag out, physically yelling out loud at each other fight with my professor in college after class about youth and the justice system and I was miserable for like a week.
I respect my elders, I don't believe in pulling crap like that, so you knew it was serious.
Though I still think I'm right and he's wrong.
And then, AND THEN! he brings it up in class the next session and poses it as a debate.
Which I guess is an okay thing to do as a professor, but not as a person.
"so we've been talking about this and having a great debate, at least I think it's a great debate, what do you guys think about it?"
Did I mention how much I really didn't like college?
I just need some sleep.
Tonight helped, he's great, my boyfriend. Has all the answers. And only the good ones. Not like the people who claim to have answers for everything.
Speaking of distraction I still have those quotebooks sitting on the floor.
See if I can find anything interesting.

Okay, Placement Seminar senior year. We came up with resumes, portfolios, went on fake interviews, actually I give credit to that class for getting the job.
Anyway, first week as a class we came up with a life plan.
1. Get born.
2. Grow up - eat spinach, drink milk, stop picking your nose.
3. Go to college - pick a major your parents like.
4. Get high...PAYING job.
5. Find a family - don't want to see them just know they're there.
6. Buy stuff - like a motorboat.
7. Get old - purchase many anti-aging projects to hide the fact that it's almost over and you've missed it.
8. Die. Or leave.
There were a lot of anti-aging products and a motorboat references throughout the class.
I loved that class it was fantastic, she had the best one-liners.
"Nothing like spending your Friday night crying into a bag of Doritos."
"What's a Zamboni? Pasta?"
"He can dunk."
"Donuts?"
"Are we drinking before or after the interviews?"
"Interview rule #1: Celebrate After."
"If you can, case the joint."
"Case the joint?!"
"Don't quote me."
woops.
"Is taking a backpack to an interview normal?"
"Not unless you plan on stealing some office supplies when you leave."
"Don't fold your resume. Especially not into projectile objects."
But that was the same semester I took Group Tech so there were a lot of quotes in the book. I still have flashbacks to that class. That's my curse, and he'll take full blame. I threatened once to make him business cards that said his name and then "Messer of Minds".
It was a fun class, mostly just about how people behave when they're in groups. It's amusing to observe staff meetings and see it happening.
I was a Behavioral Sciences major once upon a time. Before I switched back to English.
But I don't want to spill any secrets because then people will change their behavior and I won't get to find it amusing anymore.
He was a great professor though, always highly amusing.
"Rhythmic breathing. Weird phenomenon."
and my forever favorite after explaining an assignment: "Be creative. Don't get arrested."
As bad as college could be I really liked all - well, the majority - of my professors. And made some good friends along the way.
AS: "He wasn't wearing a jacket."
LA: "But I'm in the back!"
AS: "That doesn't matter, no jacket, no talk! That's the rule!"
LA: "It's okay, he was wearing a plaid shirt."
AS: "Never trust a guy in plaid!"
LA: "Okay, so in order for me to trust them they shouldn't wear plaid, but they should wear a jacket?"
AW: "What if they're wearing plaid and a jacket?"
CK: "What if it's a plaid jacket?"
AS: "Then run!"
So glad to get that one on tape. It made for an interesting drivethru at McDonalds.
Okay, I'm officially distracted and okay again.
Tomorrow's another day.
And its Word of the Day will be: "Logodaedaly ingenious or cunning use of words. Logo- comes from a Greek root meaning 'word' and -daedaly is related to Daedalus, the name of the designer of the Labyrinth for the Minotaur of Crete. His name has come to mean 'ingenious, skillful'. Another rare logo- word is the nonce-word logopandocie, which is the 'readiness to admit words of all kinds' and describes the English language and most lexicographers."
There you go, pronounce that one.
A couple hours ago the songs I had planned were a bit more angsty. But I'm liking this whole classic country thing.
Oh yeah, so I got this free month of XM radio thing so they can tempt me to buy it, did you know they have an entire channel dedicated to Hair Bands?
I enjoyed the Prime Country channel on the drive back.

So this is what a day off feels like?
Spent it sleeping in until noon,
Watched some Leverage,
Went grocery shopping,
Put off the stuff I said I was going to do today but I'll do Monday instead.
Just paperwork mostly. and some phone stuff.
But I got my pop so I'm good for a week or so.
Made tenative plans for New Years with the same old gang.
Next up, more Leverage.
Aaannd, since there's nothing really else that happened today I'll leave you with these and get back to my big fat cat to watch some Leverage.

*Spoiler Alert*
Okay, enough time has elapsed at this point to where, I think I can talk about this stuff. If you haven't seen the finales at this point either you don't watch the show or you just don't care how the season ended. So, this post will most likely be filled with spoilers to various tv show finales. Aka NCIS, Bones, Castle and Criminal Minds. So, if you haven't seen the finales and plan on watching them online or something you should skip this post. Or at least skip to the bottom.
What was it, the year of death?! Dude! Even on Glee! I'm wondering if the different networks have some sort of meeting and decide on a theme. Like, let's make everyone happy this year and unite the love interests or let's kill someone off that everybody loves so they tune in next year just to see how we can screw up next!
NCIS - Okay, so you knew it was going to be a big episode after the mystery eye opened MTAC. Seriously. But did they have to kill off Mike Franks?! I totally cried. I like him. Couldn't they have killed Trent Kort instead? As sad as it was the funeral scene was still pretty cool with Gibbs and all the Navy stuff. Speculation for next season: Tony investigating Gibbs. Cause, I mean, who else is he going to investigate? They've already done enough to Ziva, Tim doesn't really have a secret past and with Gibbs there's endless material. Plus he's having that sort-of feud with Vance lately. He's suspicious of his past or something, there's gotta be some kind of retaliation. Right?
Bones - Um, can I just say FINALLY! Emily Deschanel is actually pregnant so we knew somehow that had to come into play. I didn't think this would be the kind of show to hide her behind lab tables, although there would be plenty. Oh my god, could you imagine having pregnancy hormones and morning sickness on that set? There's a disgusting and decomposing dead body in every episode! (Well, minus the live victim from this season) I'm sad they didn't give us more details about Booth and Bones.
Speculation: Is Angela going to start bringing her baby to work or is there going to be some sort of daycare center at the lab? Next year's gonna be awesome. let's leave it at that.
Castle - Big episode! and finally for Castle and Beckett too! even though she's like dying and all that. But they can't kill her off because then they wouldn't have a show.
Speculation: When they told us someone was going to die this season I immediately jumped to Montgomery. The captain is always the one that gets killed off or leaves. And, because Hollywood is cliche, I'm sure he'll be replaced by a strong female character that Kate hates. Bones, Saving Grace, and NCIS all did it already.
-Bones had Cam, who thankfully turned out to be awesome. She replaced Dr. Goodman who I still refer to as "Ed" no matter what he's in because he played Claire's husband Ed in Women's Murder Club. Just like Claire will always be Claire even though she plays Vance's wife on NCIS and a victim's wife on Bones and a cop on Criminal Minds and the chick in the census commercials, yeah, yeah, I know, Move On, I've heard it all.
-Anyway, then there was Lt. Kate Perry on Saving Grace who took over when their old captain got shot in the head in the squadroom only a couple episodes in. The squad of course loved their old captain but Grace had a history with Kate so they got along fine.
-NCIS had Jenny Shepherd ascend to the director spot after the first/second season's dude, who we saw in maybe 10 episodes out of the 2 seasons he was supposed to be the director, retired. That was controversy even though she was pretty kickass.
-Even with The Closer Brenda Leigh was parachuted over all their heads and they hated her. We loved her but they hated her. Now they love her too. Soon she'll be leaving and replaced by someone else as well in the spinoff. And that's gotta be a female lead as well since it's got soooo many male cast members, unless they're leaving too. There's gonna be a lot of pressure for that spinoff since the Closer is so popular. Few spinoffs are as good as the originals. Law and Order SVU is better than the original, but that's just my opinion. And Sketch's. Plus technically, NCIS was introduced through an episode of Jag so I guess you could call that a spinoff. Oh, and what was with that Finder episode of Bones? Totally and completely random. Is that going to be a spinoff as well? They've got the big actors for it so I wouldn't be surprised.
Criminal Minds - Okay, I couldn't resist. Technically this is a spoiler for next season instead of the finale as I didn't watch anything from this season. With good reason. You take away the good main characters to fund a crappy spinoff that was going to fail anyway and the fans protest. And it works!
GUESS WHO'S BACK!
TAKE THAT, CREATIVE REASONS! AJ/JJ and Paget/Prentiss back on CM, Awesomeness! Now I can start watching again. Totally stoked. Now all we need is a new contract for Thomas and we're golden. He's the only one who isn't officially signed on my next season.
Speculation: Gotta kill off Doyle to get Prentiss back. He's the reason they faked her death and she went underground. Only JJ and Hotch know - although, they're a group of profilers so I wouldn't be surprised if some of them don't already know as well. And if they didn't...then they're probably just going to be pissed they weren't told. Morgan especially.
yeah yeah, i didn't watch the show but i read up on it as the season went on, had to know what was going on with the characters i still liked. temporarily felt sad for the temp actress when i read her twitter but i'm past that. AJ/JJ and Paget/Prentiss returning trump any bad emotion left behind from last season.
Felt I should do this now as I haven't really posted posted in a while. Minus the cough medicine night it's mostly just been the highlights and then I'm going to bed now because I have to work and do more homework. Which will pretty much sum up my upcoming week as well. Monday is work then Saltdogs game, huzzah! Tuesday is work then homework then more work, Wednesday is work then teen program for class then WICKED! HUZZAH to that! gonna have to brush up on my wizard of oz beforehand. Thursday is work plus homework and Friday is work plus homework plus finalized posting of all homework. Then Saturday is the last class we have to show up for. Next week we're just posting stuff online by Saturday. I think. Will have to look into that.

I've been a fan of Alan Jackson since I was a kid and I still totally jam out when they come up on my ipod. This is one of my favorites. Although, in the video, I'm thinking her dance moves say a lot more than "I'm over you" ...haha. *insert joke about exotic dancers next door* SEE! That still works....even though I don't actually have exotic dancers living next door. At least I think I don't. But I don't really know my neighbors. Hmmm...

What was it, the year of death?! Dude! Even on Glee! I'm wondering if the different networks have some sort of meeting and decide on a theme. Like, let's make everyone happy this year and unite the love interests or let's kill someone off that everybody loves so they tune in next year just to see how we can screw up next!
NCIS - Okay, so you knew it was going to be a big episode after the mystery eye opened MTAC. Seriously. But did they have to kill off Mike Franks?! I totally cried. I like him. Couldn't they have killed Trent Kort instead? As sad as it was the funeral scene was still pretty cool with Gibbs and all the Navy stuff. Speculation for next season: Tony investigating Gibbs. Cause, I mean, who else is he going to investigate? They've already done enough to Ziva, Tim doesn't really have a secret past and with Gibbs there's endless material. Plus he's having that sort-of feud with Vance lately. He's suspicious of his past or something, there's gotta be some kind of retaliation. Right?
Bones - Um, can I just say FINALLY! Emily Deschanel is actually pregnant so we knew somehow that had to come into play. I didn't think this would be the kind of show to hide her behind lab tables, although there would be plenty. Oh my god, could you imagine having pregnancy hormones and morning sickness on that set? There's a disgusting and decomposing dead body in every episode! (Well, minus the live victim from this season) I'm sad they didn't give us more details about Booth and Bones.
Speculation: Is Angela going to start bringing her baby to work or is there going to be some sort of daycare center at the lab? Next year's gonna be awesome. let's leave it at that.
Castle - Big episode! and finally for Castle and Beckett too! even though she's like dying and all that. But they can't kill her off because then they wouldn't have a show.
Speculation: When they told us someone was going to die this season I immediately jumped to Montgomery. The captain is always the one that gets killed off or leaves. And, because Hollywood is cliche, I'm sure he'll be replaced by a strong female character that Kate hates. Bones, Saving Grace, and NCIS all did it already.
-Bones had Cam, who thankfully turned out to be awesome. She replaced Dr. Goodman who I still refer to as "Ed" no matter what he's in because he played Claire's husband Ed in Women's Murder Club. Just like Claire will always be Claire even though she plays Vance's wife on NCIS and a victim's wife on Bones and a cop on Criminal Minds and the chick in the census commercials, yeah, yeah, I know, Move On, I've heard it all.
-Anyway, then there was Lt. Kate Perry on Saving Grace who took over when their old captain got shot in the head in the squadroom only a couple episodes in. The squad of course loved their old captain but Grace had a history with Kate so they got along fine.
-NCIS had Jenny Shepherd ascend to the director spot after the first/second season's dude, who we saw in maybe 10 episodes out of the 2 seasons he was supposed to be the director, retired. That was controversy even though she was pretty kickass.
-Even with The Closer Brenda Leigh was parachuted over all their heads and they hated her. We loved her but they hated her. Now they love her too. Soon she'll be leaving and replaced by someone else as well in the spinoff. And that's gotta be a female lead as well since it's got soooo many male cast members, unless they're leaving too. There's gonna be a lot of pressure for that spinoff since the Closer is so popular. Few spinoffs are as good as the originals. Law and Order SVU is better than the original, but that's just my opinion. And Sketch's. Plus technically, NCIS was introduced through an episode of Jag so I guess you could call that a spinoff. Oh, and what was with that Finder episode of Bones? Totally and completely random. Is that going to be a spinoff as well? They've got the big actors for it so I wouldn't be surprised.
Criminal Minds - Okay, I couldn't resist. Technically this is a spoiler for next season instead of the finale as I didn't watch anything from this season. With good reason. You take away the good main characters to fund a crappy spinoff that was going to fail anyway and the fans protest. And it works!
GUESS WHO'S BACK!
TAKE THAT, CREATIVE REASONS! AJ/JJ and Paget/Prentiss back on CM, Awesomeness! Now I can start watching again. Totally stoked. Now all we need is a new contract for Thomas and we're golden. He's the only one who isn't officially signed on my next season.
Speculation: Gotta kill off Doyle to get Prentiss back. He's the reason they faked her death and she went underground. Only JJ and Hotch know - although, they're a group of profilers so I wouldn't be surprised if some of them don't already know as well. And if they didn't...then they're probably just going to be pissed they weren't told. Morgan especially.
yeah yeah, i didn't watch the show but i read up on it as the season went on, had to know what was going on with the characters i still liked. temporarily felt sad for the temp actress when i read her twitter but i'm past that. AJ/JJ and Paget/Prentiss returning trump any bad emotion left behind from last season.
Felt I should do this now as I haven't really posted posted in a while. Minus the cough medicine night it's mostly just been the highlights and then I'm going to bed now because I have to work and do more homework. Which will pretty much sum up my upcoming week as well. Monday is work then Saltdogs game, huzzah! Tuesday is work then homework then more work, Wednesday is work then teen program for class then WICKED! HUZZAH to that! gonna have to brush up on my wizard of oz beforehand. Thursday is work plus homework and Friday is work plus homework plus finalized posting of all homework. Then Saturday is the last class we have to show up for. Next week we're just posting stuff online by Saturday. I think. Will have to look into that.

I've been a fan of Alan Jackson since I was a kid and I still totally jam out when they come up on my ipod. This is one of my favorites. Although, in the video, I'm thinking her dance moves say a lot more than "I'm over you" ...haha. *insert joke about exotic dancers next door* SEE! That still works....even though I don't actually have exotic dancers living next door. At least I think I don't. But I don't really know my neighbors. Hmmm...

Everybody has So Much To Say about Army Spice and Summertime Blues...now Roll to Me - 90s Music Week Day Five
Fun day today, worked then hung out with friends and family. Relaxation, hooray! Got to watch my niece and nephew act in their school play, and not to be bias or anything, but they were totally the best. Just saying, totally stole the show. My nephew was the bad guy, got to wear a suit and a monocle, so cute! My niece was in cahoots with her brother, which was hysterical, but they were both awesome. Oldest sister says nephew takes after me. I called him a stud. Then asked if that made me a stud. She said sure.
Tomorrow is class then derby then sleep! Cause I need sleep. Which is what I will be doing right after this is posted. Hope you all have a good weekend.
