I'm cooked like a lobster.
Which is Italian for exhausted.
I got this great book - from the library of course - called "I'm not hanging noodles on your ears" and it's filled with ridiculous idioms from across the world.
It's highly amusing.
Here are some of my highlights so far:

Today was good, led my first TAB meeting, not as many were there so we finished early and went to jam out in the courtyard. It was nice out.
Hooligans.
And more dead birds. That's two in two days. Same girl found it too, I think she actually looks for them.
Dead birds aren't really my thing so I called the guard.
Pretty sure he loves me for that.
Mom brought me more fruit. And I think I'm set for life in lightbulbs.
I don't remember the apartment ever being this bright.
And I'm stoked for the fruit. But I'm a nerd like that.
I was gonna buy lightbulbs myself tonight but she was there. I went anyway cause I had to get birthday presents. There's a lot of birthdays in March. Two of my nieces, plus my mother's, plus one of my old friend's as well. We gave her crap cause she was born on the Ides of March.
Though I think it's me that's the jinx. Yesterday while jamming with Queen of the Known Universe she flails out of her chair. I told her I'd give her more points if she would have screamed. I know I would have.
But then today the new supervisor, that I still haven't come up with a proper nickname for, slams her finger in the cash register for the first time in seven years.
Fantastic.
I think it's me.
I'm already klutzy on my own, but now it's contageous.
What else from today...
Superwoman and I made an E-books display today in the main entryway. Hung up some pictures of e-readers and all that. It turned out pretty cool. But it's National Read an E-book week. We turned it into a month since we were late - I was sick and she was busy. Will have to find some flyers or something.
Joyful and triumphant.
She took away a point today so I'm down to 141.5 cause I had my feet up on the table. Apparently that's not what a librarian is supposed to do. She's grooming me into the perfect librarian apparently. Between her and the Library Goddess I'm toast.
Tomorrow is more of the same, all day but minus the meetings. And hopefully the klutzy drama, but with me it's inevitable.
On to the music:
I had Billy Ocean's "get out of my dreams get into my car" stuck in my head all day. Was singing it all over the building - boss's office, basement, front desk, backroom while doing display - drove me nuts.
Info-Man says there are worse songs that could be stuck in my head. He's right, last time I told John Boy about a song being stuck in my head he started singing the song that never ends.
I replaced that one with "it's a small world afterall" and believe me, that's even worse.
So, in hopes of this one erasing all of those let's pick a good one. Hmmm...

Long day today. But I got to sleep in so I guess that's okay. 11-4 at work library and 5-8 at the home library, plus a break to pay rent, do laundry and dishes means I'm exhausted.
Little freaked about some work stuff. I'm missing the good 'ole subdirt days, but I'll handle it. No, it'll be good. I'll make it fun. I do this kind of stuff every summer anyway. See, look excited again. Yay!
But that's all I can say. for now. I'm sure you'll get more of my nervous ramblings later.
Okay, stuff I will say. There's a lot of good L songs. And it's funny listening to them because I can pinpoint times in my life at which they were on repeat.

Grade School Favorite:
Let Me Blow Ya Mind - Eve feat. Gwen Stefani (2001)
used to jam to this one back in grade school. it was my favorite all throughout 8th grade, 7th and 8th grade were the big years in which i branched away from country music that i thought was the world at the time. yeah, not so much anymore. although i do enjoy the classics. and a few new artists.
High School Highlight:
Leave (Get Out) - JoJo (2004)
Jess and I rewrote this one in high school. We used to take a lot of PT trips, aka I would drive people to physical therapy and she would ride with me, and we'd drive around town, specifically Iowa Avenue, and somehow always end up in the same place - like always by this triangle house - when whoever it was called and said to come pick them up. Anyway, this song came on the radio once and we came up with our own lyrics, then taped it back at the dorms. I'd upload the video but she'd probably kill me. or Shel would. it includes an interesting tirade about her socks. The joy of living in the dorms.
Anyway, in our version the boy cheats on her with their kindergarten teacher. Hence the title of this post.
College Rockout:

Danger! Danger! High Voltage!
I'm sure I'll have more to say tomorrow, so I'll keep it short tonight. I'm giving you quotes of the week now cause I'll get plenty tomorrow when there's family around.

Me as the alarm is blaring over and over about the emergency evacuation plan: "What is the emergency evacuation plan?"
Queen of the Known Universe: "Nobody knows."

Second Sister: "I like you and think u r the bees knees. I dont know how essential bees knees are and where that saying originates, so maybe i should research that phrase before i say u are it."

Worked all day, slowly counting down the hours until I could drive home. Got lunch with Fearless Leader, we talked library, grad school, and dating, she's fun, I enjoy working with her.
After work, drove to the farm where I was of course, made fun of for my speeding ticket, I expected on less, by my brother. Then we played some pitch and pinochle. Anybody else play pinochle? I haven't in so long I had to re-adjust, we've been playing so much pitch it was weird to play with a deck where 9 is the lowest card. Messed with my head. But we did pretty well.
Now I'm watching Swamp People with Squirt. Jamming on the couch. Tomorrow will be the parade and lots of food and all. Stoked. Seriously, stoked.
And sad that my vacation will probably fly by and be over with soon. I need to start taking vacation time. Really, the only time I have is for camp. And that's it. And that's in the summer, should start using it since I'm 40 hours and actually earning it now.

heard it on charlie's angels originally and thought it was so bizarre and hilarious, that it became kind of a running joke in high school. i drew a comic for art class, calling my villain "high voltage" his power was that he'd sing and dance to the song so loud and obnoxiously that it would blind people and they would fall over dead. should try to find that. wonder if mak still has my copy.

Stuck in the Middle With You
Why would anyone put a needle in a stack of hay anyway?
NCIS Season 8 - fantastic! Scale of Awesome says 10/10 and I'm only one disc in - of course I've already seen the whole thing but that's not the point. It's got great storylines - cases that haven't already been used by other crime shows - fantastic characters - Gibbs, Ziva, Kate, Tony, McGee, Abby, Ducky even Palmer everyone of them is unique with their own quirks - even excellent sets - this show is pure awesomeness on air. I highly suggest you check it out Tuesday nights on CBS, or pick up one of the seasons on DVD at the library.
Speaking of the library - had a big day at ours today. There was this big ribbon-cutting ceremony thing with speeches and all that - even a giant pair of scissors. That was sweet.
Today felt super busy even though it was only 9-5. Yes, only. But shelved and boxed up books all morning then had some lunch, huzzah for mint chip ice cream, then got all registered for the NLA conference - aka Nebraska Library Association not the National Limousine Association or the Lawyers Association, Lipid Association,...what other ones did I get when I Googled the page I was trying to find....oh! how about the Nine Lives Association? Real deal.
But I'm going because they're having this session on life during and after the MLS and since that's what I'm getting I thought it would be cool to go and listen to what they have to say. But that's not until like October, so got a while to plan.
Or, how about the National Lime Association?
Another tip I learned today - try going shopping when you really have to go to the bathroom. It'll save you time and money cause all you want to do is grab the essentials and get the heck out of there. I always buy a bunch of junk that I really don't need. Might use that strategy in the future.
Newspaper Licensing Agency. I hate that word licensing. I always spell it wrong. I feel like I'm spelling it wrong now. Maybe I should google that too.

It's kind of a "Wreckers" situation when Michelle Branch teams up with backup singer Jessica Harp and they make their own band as a duo, this is Miranda Lambert plus Ashley Monroe who's been kind of a backup singer for profession plus a newbie Angaleen Presley. they're pretty good.
you may have heard of their hit "Hell on Heels" seen here for it's live debut:

I like "Bad Example" best just cause it's like throwback country mixed with sort of a doo-woop sound from the 50's. I'm diggin' it.

Spent over an hour packing up 16 boxes worth of donations. I was totally exhausted all day. Because that was just the morning. After work was baseball, Saltdogs game with Wordsmith = awesome. totally fun, had my margarita and my funnel cake. excellent.
Currently watching I Am Number Four as I crash but I turned on the for hearing impaired thing and it's this dude narrating everything that's happening. totally awesome. "Now, at the farmhouse..." awesome.
Songs of the night: Theme: RAIN! weather as of late. it's lightning even now. it better quick this tomorrow. at least from 9-5. it can rain after that.

love their mashups. and i was totally not a fan of this song originally, umbrella i mean. but they make it bearable. plus hearing all about the behind-the-scenes stuff about dancing with those umbrellas, that would be madness.
Tomorrow means College World Series and I'm totally stoked. We're leaving super early because we're all about the experience, walking around and seeing all the booths and stuff. Buying souvenirs. Plus we can find parking.

These are a few of my favorite things - Day One: Music
So, I spent my day off at the farmhouse. I got some more fun shirts from my truly amazing brother and my awesome sister-in-law. Then, ate some good ice cream cake with the family. There's my weekend.
Okay, so I was inspired by my last post - aka literal music video and Mindwalk Blvd - to post more of my favorite things. But, there are too many of them to post all at once so I figured I could span it into a week. Maybe it will help distract me from reality and the significance of the next few days.
I have a lot of favorite things, music, movies, tv, books, hobbies, etc. Tonight I'm gonna focus on music. Music is kind of a big deal to me. It's relaxing, it's fun, it's catchy, sometimes annoying aka "Do the Bookdrop", but still something I can't live without. One of my favorite quotes from college came from this girl I had one class with total.
Best Friend: You know the girl with the headphones who stares at her feet when she walks?
Girl: Oh yeah, she's so sarcastic I love her!
When someone knows who you are just by those descriptions it means something.
Anyway, I thought it was funny, but yes, headphones are constantly in my ears or my pockets because sometimes I just like to jam out, you know? Sometimes it drives people nuts but hey, that's me.
I thought my first segment should be about favorite songs. I have lots of favorite songs but only a few all-time favorite songs. I've lowered it down to five, some of them you've already heard on this blog but some will be new.
Here's my top five:
1. Tracy Chapman's "Give Me One Reason" I'm not much for blues, but this song, it just gets to me with the rhythm and the guitar. I wish I could play like her.
2. Aaliyah's "Are You That Somebody"It so sad that we didn't get to see her career go as far as it would have. I love the beat of this one and the awesome dance moves in the video, haha.

I loved Michelle Branch already, but when she joined with Jessica Harp to form the Wreckers she became a whole different kind of awesome. Her style totally changed and turned a bit more country which I think she pulls off pretty well.
4. Joshua Radin's "Only You" I'm more a fan of the acoustic version available on itunes but this one is good as well. Remake of a classic that he totally does justice.
5. "Out Tonight" from Jonathan Larson's broadway classic "Rent"

More favorites yet to come tomorrow. I'm thinking movies...or maybe television, I do get to watch shows online tomorrow that I missed tomorrow.
Okay, so I was inspired by my last post - aka literal music video and Mindwalk Blvd - to post more of my favorite things. But, there are too many of them to post all at once so I figured I could span it into a week. Maybe it will help distract me from reality and the significance of the next few days.
I have a lot of favorite things, music, movies, tv, books, hobbies, etc. Tonight I'm gonna focus on music. Music is kind of a big deal to me. It's relaxing, it's fun, it's catchy, sometimes annoying aka "Do the Bookdrop", but still something I can't live without. One of my favorite quotes from college came from this girl I had one class with total.
Best Friend: You know the girl with the headphones who stares at her feet when she walks?
Girl: Oh yeah, she's so sarcastic I love her!
When someone knows who you are just by those descriptions it means something.
Anyway, I thought it was funny, but yes, headphones are constantly in my ears or my pockets because sometimes I just like to jam out, you know? Sometimes it drives people nuts but hey, that's me.
I thought my first segment should be about favorite songs. I have lots of favorite songs but only a few all-time favorite songs. I've lowered it down to five, some of them you've already heard on this blog but some will be new.
Here's my top five:
1. Tracy Chapman's "Give Me One Reason" I'm not much for blues, but this song, it just gets to me with the rhythm and the guitar. I wish I could play like her.
2. Aaliyah's "Are You That Somebody"It so sad that we didn't get to see her career go as far as it would have. I love the beat of this one and the awesome dance moves in the video, haha.
3. The Wreckers "Leave the Pieces"Here's the live version, you can find the official video/recording on youtube.
I loved Michelle Branch already, but when she joined with Jessica Harp to form the Wreckers she became a whole different kind of awesome. Her style totally changed and turned a bit more country which I think she pulls off pretty well.
4. Joshua Radin's "Only You" I'm more a fan of the acoustic version available on itunes but this one is good as well. Remake of a classic that he totally does justice.
5. "Out Tonight" from Jonathan Larson's broadway classic "Rent"

You know how you can have all time favorites and then new ones that you love but they're so new you don't think you can classify them as all time?

Stop Making Friends - aka Pauley Perrette is freaking awesome. Listen to their song "Fear" and tell me what you think.
Anything by Doris Day - I always listen to her stuff on Xmas, but especially the Calamity Jane soundtrack.
I'm a very soundtracks kind of girl. There's a lot of those on my playlists,
lately it's been a lot of Glee, aside from that there's
Moulin Rouge, Calamity Jane, Oklahoma, Music and Lyrics, Rent, NCIS, Hairspray, Avenue Q, Grease 1&2 Chicago, Mamma Mia (minus pierce brosnan), Rocky Horror, Sister Act, Wedding Singer, Walk the Line even Whip It had a kickass soundtrack, which was Drew's mix tape for the world.
Okay, you're probably aleady overloaded so I'm gonna crash and burn.
