Okay, fair warning this post is going to be music-filled cause Voice finals were tonight along with The Sing Off which I put off watching though I don't know why cause after tonight holy crap.
Seriously, watch this and tell me you aren't a fan.
Yep, going back to watch the rest of the season.
Oh look, Pentatonix.
That explains why they're everywhere.
Anyway, before all this there wasn't a lot of music, minus when I was off desk cause I do listen to my headphones when I'm off desk.
Do some dancing and all that in the elevators.
Though you really have to watch out for which elevator you're in cause we have two and one has a bigass window and that would just be bad.
The other one is super slow and claustrophobic so to pass the time it works.
Where was I?
Oh right, work.
Work was super slow today - think it was the weather, everyone was outside instead.
It was a sweltering 40-some degrees today.
You scoffed at that, but 40-something is sweltering for December in Nebraska.
There's people outside in shorts.
It's madness.
And it's supposed to continue to swelter this week and hit 49 at some point. I'm hoping the trend is slowness doesn't continue as well.
But, I do actually get a lot done when it's slow so it wasn't all that bad.
We're working on getting plastic bags for the checkout which is super boring to you, I'm aware, but big for us, well me since I'm supplies and have to write a proposal for it and all that.
Thankfully I have Superwoman around to make it all shiny and stuff.
Speaking of shiny stuff, I got my final GPA. I finished with a 3.978 which out of 4.0 isn't all that bad.
Would have been a 4.0 if not for that lone A-
Mean.
*cough*Library Goddess*cough*
What else from today that's not music-related?
Oh, so I posted on Twitter something I found online that goes a little something like this:
Jingle bells,
Twilight smells,
Edward ran away.
Bella dies,
Jacob cries,
Star Wars all the way.
Half an hour later I get a notification that Darth Vader now follows me on Twitter.
So take that world.
It's sad, but I'm proud of that.
Brother will be super jealous, though not jealous enough to actually join Twitter. Or any social network at all for that matter.
He's a lot like my dad, they're both luddites.
Dad's only experience with technology are his smart tractors and his reality-filled DVR.
Or "reality" that is.
Duck Dynasty. Swamp People. American Pickers. Big Shrimpin'. Ax Men. Pawn Stars.
There's more should I go on?
Anyway, I'm pumped. Now I will have to find more Star Wars humor and post it to keep him on my side.
Okay, now on to the music.
So yes, tonight was the Voice finals. Tessanne rocked it. She's still my number one and I think she deserves to win, but I'm secretly cheering for Will cause he's the complete underdog.
He lost in the battles then got stolen by Xtina. He lost in the knockouts then got stolen back by Adam. He beat out James, Cole and Matthew which is madness and he did it all in style.
I know, I know, you don't care, but you should watch this cause it's excellent.
Tiny Dancer
I cheered when I heard "take on an Elton John classic" then attempted to guess what it would be. Not even close.
Love those guys.
Anyway, for the - well, second to - last time here's my Top 20:
Top 20
Red - Adam
Pink - Xtina
Green - Blake
Grey - CeeLo
Tessanne Chin
Matthew Schuler - Eliminated in lives
Holly Henry - Eliminated in knockouts
Kat Robichaud - Eliminated in lives
Grey - Eliminated in live rounds
Brandon Chase - Eliminated in knockouts
Michael Lynch - Eliminated in battles
Timyra Joi - Eliminated in battles
Briana Cuoco - Eliminated in battles
Jacquie Lee
Tamara Chauniece - Eliminate in lives
Ashley Dubose - Eliminated in battles
Monika Leigh - Eliminated in battles
Shelbie Z - Eliminated in lives
James Wolpert - Eliminated in lives
Josh Logan - Eliminated in live
Caroline Pennel - Eliminated in lives
Johnny Gray - Eliminated in lives
Olivia Henken - Eliminated in lives
Ray Boudreaux - Eliminated in lives
So go Tessanne, Jacquie and Will. Whoever wins you deserve it cause this year's was crazy competitive.
Alright, on to the actual music.
Day Three of Christmas Music That Doesn't Suck
Tonight's song choices are:
Christmas Wrapping - Save Ferris
oh my god, was not expecting the twist on the lyrics, love it.
2011 was The Waitresses, 2012 was The Donnas
Santa Claus is Coming to Town - Cimorelli
no, i don't expect you to know who they are, but you should check them out. they've done a ton of covers, my favorite of which is probably Call Me Maybe that they turn into an 80's workout video.
2011 was Glee, 2012 was Michael Buble
Let It Snow - Christina Perri
love her, she's great, but you know that already since i've posted like 8 things by her already on here.
2011 was Michael Buble, 2012 was Frank Sinatra
this was a close second for that last one:
shutup wesley!
2011 Day Three - You Better Not Pout, I'm Telling You Why
2012 Day Three - You Mean You Forgot Cranberries Too?
and speaking of 80's workout videos, check this out if you haven't already:

Someone told me long ago, there's a calm before the storm, I know it's been coming for some time.
Should I be worried that someone got to my blog by Googling someone's name with the subtitle "the KFC slut"?
What kind of stuff am I posting on here?!
So my dad got struck by lightning today.
Dead serious.
I'm just glad he's not dead period.
Apparently being on the four-wheeler saved him cause of rubber wheels. I don't know if that's true or not - science was never my strong-point.
I do know that usually when someone is struck by lightning they go to the hospital to get checked out.
My dad on the other hand refused. Even after his favorite/pharmacist daughter told him that was a bad idea.
Not all that surprising. Remember the months and months of white walls and sterilized equipment posts? He seems to go to the hospital once a decade and then gets stuck there to fix everything that he neglected to go there for through the years.
This time there might be long term damage. Oldest Sister said the effect was immediate cause he went home and told Mom to stop mowing - you know, before he went back to work - and he never tells anyone to stop working so something must be wrong. She thinks his next hobby will be flower arranging.
It was interesting because I found out right before practicum so I walk in in this weird state of shock, not fully believing that he actually got struck by lightning.
Cause c'mon, who of you knows someone who was struck by lightning? Show of hands? Granted I can't see you raising your hands, but I'm guessing it's slim to none.
Besides my family who can now raise their hands of course.
Anyway, so I tell Mr. BossMan Tom and then go on to explain his other famous injuries.
Drill-bit through the hand, falling out of a tree while chainsawing, and my personal favorite running himself over with a car.
Which also, show of hands on that one? Anyone? Anyone? Nope, didn't think so. I mean, people get run over all the time, but do they ever run themselves over?
He was washing it and he put it in neutral and tried to walk it and his foot got caught and- it's a whole long story, whatever, the point is I'm listing all these things out to Mr. BossMan Tom and I finally realize where I get all my klutziness from.
I mean, Mom has her blonde moments every once in a while - "what's the abbreviation for 'no'?" "Um, no?"
But Dad truly takes the cake on injuries.
Though I'm not the only sibling in my family with klutzy injuries, I mean Oldest Sister blew out her knee doing laundry so...
Aside from that the day was interesting on its own. Worked at the home branch this morning. Listened to their new supervisor do a Toddler Time where she sang a song from Barney.
Which was then stuck in my head all day.
I hate Barney.
With passion.
Stupid purple dinosaur.
Queen of the Known Universe tried to fix it with her own headphones, thanks for that.
Plus, I made up these posters for the libraries we're building for practicum and had them laminated by the place across the street. It was funny cause I uploaded them last night then got this phone call from the lady all frantic this morning saying she's not going to have them done. Then when I go over there on my break I'm like right outside their door when she calls to say they're done. AND I KNOW HER! Cause she comes into the work branch all the time so that was amusing.
It decided to rain today, but only when I was outdoors walking to my car to leave for practicum and then when arriving at practicum - stopping in between while I was driving, which was crap cause it started again right as I was getting out of my car to go in.
Practicum Count-Up 32/90. Flying by. Today I made our check-out slips and decorated the boxes they'll go in. We put up the signs in the women's library and then went over to the men's to work more on that. Still not finished shelving, but the slips and box are there if they want to start checking stuff out.
We listened to a rain playlist today instead of the Beach Boys. It ranged from Jack Johnson to Gun-N-Roses. Huzzah for YouTube.
After that I came home to do homework. The boyfriend is still sick which means I haven't seen him since like this weekend.
Was it this weekend? I can't even remember I just know it's been too long.
When did I turn into one of those girls.
Seriously?
When did that happen?
I used to be so independent.
I still am mostly, but I do like spending time with him and wish he would just propose already so we can stop driving back and forth!
I know, it's not romantic at all, but it would be practical!
Which is sort of quasy...ish romantic.
Right?
Okay maybe not.
BUT I did get a lot of homework done tonight. Which is good cause it's done Sunday night. I wrote the paper, all that's left is citing and graphs. Which I may or may not do after I post this depending on my energy level.
Oh and I watched the new Star Trek movie.
I love Benedict, he's awesome.
Oh, I mean, go Starfleet!
Or whoever it is you root for in Trek... I'm sorry, not a Trekkie, more of a Wars girl.
Speaking of Wars, that whole "we'll fit" thing, total Millenium Falcon reference.
Just saying.
But it was good, I'd say 8/10 on the Scale of Awesome. Worthy of purchase, though I don't have the first one so there's one for the Xmas list.
On to the Music:
Have You Ever Seen The Rain - CCR
also on the playlist and the one that stuck with me as i drove home.
you know, after it had stopped raining cause i wasn't outside.

They say she just went crazy, screaming out his name
Let's start off with the interview this morning.
The class assignment is to interview a technical services professional about their cataloging process from start to finish.
A as in 1.
So imagine my surprise when I show up this morning and am led directly to the conference room.
Holy toast.
And the funny thing is that two more people who were going to be there couldn't make it this morning.
So there were supposed to be more.
But it was fantastic! The multiple perspectives were really helpful, cause each person had their own specialty and responsibilities. And I actually got a lot of my questions answered so that was great.
Totally nervous asking actual professionals - as in more than one at once - and me being all para-professional, student and lowly...a little intimidating.
But they were great, and didn't make me feel like a complete idiot.
I think I actually surprised my prof cause I had a bunch of questions about circulation that she didn't have answers to. So she took me to one of the experts, I met a lot of people today, haha. That one and I bonded over weird reference questions. I've had my share.
But I'm actually genuinely interested in their operation because they're freaking right down the street from us!
I mean, I knew they existed, cause they're kind of a big deal, but I did not know that they existed within a 3 block radius of us until this morning.
Yeah.
Totally had to call Superwoman this morning, freaking out cause I had no idea where I was going and didn't want to be late. Walked right passed it. I freakin' Mapquested it and everything.
And I used to park in that parking garage all the time! Freakin' walked passed that building all the time!!
It's giant.
But it's an archive.
So it's supposed to be giant.
Anyway, it was good having more people there because then there was more information and explanation, I really appreciated that. I got passed the intimidation fairly quickly - it wasn't like I was completely unprepared. I had all my questions laid out.
I think I took like three pages worth of notes.
Which is good.
Cause it's like a three page paper.
I just have to put them in order and format it and all that. It'll be gold.
Also stopped by my carpool buddy's office, knew she'd give me crap if I was there and didn't even say hi. She has her own fancy shmancy office and everything, jealous man.
After that I came home and attempted to take a nap.
But I was too wired so I started Downton Abbey instead.
It's highly amusing, I enjoy Maggie Smith very much. She is everything that I thought she would be.
The went into work for two hours and got started on my newest booklist - The Hunger Games read-a-likes, I'm thinking Survivor-ish fiction, Suzanne Collins got her inspiration from flipping channels between Survivor and the war coverage.
I've found a few already, Ship Breaker is one of them, go here: My Life in Closed Captions: don't it always seem to go that you don't know wha... but that's just the start.
Squirt came in today for her volunteer stuff, so I dropped her off after picking up some Subway for us for supper. We jammed at the house and watched Star Trek (movie) - does watching that make anyone else want to start the original series? - and Castle. Duuuude...fantastic episode. Did not see that coming. Love how they mixed in the cast with the 1947 storyline. Super cool.
And that was today.
"Beaches of Cheyenne" Garth Brooks
cheesy slideshow.
someone please tell me why this was stuck in my head all day. out of nowhere.
"Zip-Lock" Lit
and keep it in my pocket, keep it in my pocket...replacements soundtrack, gonna rock.
Now I'm off to crash, full day tomorrow. And after the full day I'm gonna e-mail the people that weren't at the interview this morning and ask some questions about cataloging the general collection, start the paper, then get back to my editing for my friend, woohoo!

I got Spocked.
He "live long and prosper"-d me then walked out.
I keep these notes in my cellphone and date each one. I was reading them on my break, last year on this day it was, "Her life is what great tragic novels are made of." I wish I could remember who I was talking about. Yesterday's was "Well, that's something to scrapbook." Which can work in really any situation, bad or good. Although it would probably seem more amusing in a bad one. Last year yesterday's was from a lit class in college. "I hear something." "It's my heart beating." I was kind of an English nerd and was friends with fellow English nerds. We had a lot of fun with literature.
It was brought to my attention this weekend that mis-matched socks are now fashionable. Which sucks. Because that means I have to find matching socks. I've never been into the whole fashion thing. I grew up wearing tear-aways and a backwards Titans hat. Which suspiciously went missing by the way... I suspect foul play *cough*Mom*cough* but have yet to prove it.
Alright, song for tonight is an old favorite. I mean, it's not too old...actually it's been like 10 years. So, recently old. Yes, recently old. I'm going with that.
Uncle Kracker's "Follow Me"
Used to sing this song with my softball teammates between games. Fun times.
Tomorrow is split shift and play practice. BTW - it was a good thing I left my phone on last night since I did get a call this morning from work. Anyway, play practice is going to have to be some sort of hardcore tomorrow. Going over all the songs - no skipping - saying lines with their faces out of the book. They'll be mad about both those things but I'm starting a countdown. May 12th. 17 Days. We're soooooo not ready.
Okay, I'm gonna crash. Well, make supper and then crash. Long day tomorrow.
Have a good one.
