Just when I was starting to like Brandi Chastain. It would have been cool if she won since she started as an alternate.

No, honestly Nicole Eggert deserves to win the show, but I've been rooting for Drake and Rory since the beginning so I feel I gotta stick with them.

Work today was interesting.

More Aide Training.

Shelving Adult Non-Fiction and Youth Services now.

She's great, so far perfect minus a book on CD issue yesterday.

I don't know how but we are completely caught up on shelving.

We have some awesome aides and volunteers.

One of my volunteers is 93 years old. Comes in almost every day.

Skipped the Volunteer Recognition Banquet cause it was her day to volunteer.

Gets up on step stools to reach the high shelf, she's fantastic.

Aside the aide training there were a lot of tiny children running all over the place. Multiple grade school tours going through.

Originally I was asked if I wanted to help lead them but tiny children in giant masses freak me out.

I know, it's great that I work in Youth Services, huh?

Camp I can handle cause it's controlled groups in organized sessions and they're all over 3rd grade.

Speaking of camp, getting stoked.

Gonna have to start putting together some skits while I have the time.

But first I should really finish all my homework.

Final project presentation for Diversity is next week, along with my final assignment for Internet Reference.

She's finally letting us use Google.

I know the point of the class is to get us to use a variety of resources, but I can find things so much faster on Google than any of those other sites!!

Drove me nuts cause assignments took 3 times as long. But that's what you do when you work reference, Google, because the people on the phone don't want to wait for you to search a variety of search sites they want a phone number, address, answer to some obscure trivia question, etc. and they want it right away.

Anyway, I'm excited to be able to use Google.

As excited as one can be when they're talking about homework.

But I will soon be done with it eternally so I guess it's okay.

Next week, then I'm free 'til June. After June everything will be about Camp and Summer Reading and then classes pick up again in August and then I'll be done in December!!

I have no idea where this post was headed so I'm going to steer it toward something I do know about and that's The Voice.

I know, you're all shocked, but I didn't post about it last night cause I hadn't watched it yet so you're getting it tonight.

More Aide Training today.

She reminds me of my original high school roommate, looks just like her and is goofy as well.

Original meaning my first roommate.

Well, I guess there were two, but then the one got kicked out. Then another moved in and then I switched rooms and moved in with two others and then another moved in with us so I had...6 roommates throughout freshman year?

And then she went on to room with Juwanna - who was my last high school roommate - before ditching us for Texas.

My favorite memory of her is, okay so it was freshman year and I was super homesick and I think it was like the first or second week and she was trying to cheer me up so she put a box on her head - think she was unpacking or something - and started dancing.

So I pulled out my disposable camera and took a picture.

I don't know if she heard the click or saw the flash but she turned around, put her hands on her hips and just stared at me. Box on head.

It was hysterical.

Anyway, the new aide is great. She shelved today and tagged so I got to go through and pull them. Got all the books right so I was impressed.

Not bad for her first time, though she does work at a bookstore so I guess it wasn't all that surprising.

Work flew by pretty quickly. Afterwards I headed out to see the boyfriend.

We met up at the theater to see Oblivion.



Oh my god, so weird.

So, so weird.

I was intrigued but at the same time I was totally confused. But that was kind of the point I guess.

Scale of Awesome says about 7/10.

Entertainment Weekly said "We liked Oblivion better when it called Moon and starred Sam Rockwell."

So I checked out Moon to compare and contrast.

But it's already a step up because while I don't like Tom Cruise I love Sam Rockwell.

Not only cause he's Drew's friend - Charlie's Angels, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, Everybody's Fine, etc. - but also for Seven Psychopaths, Iron Man 2, etc.

So it was a good day.

Alright, which one of you nerds bought me a subscription to a cooking magazine?

I opened my mail and just started laughing.

I'm still laughing.

So thanks for that.

But still, man. Ouch.

The prank war is on.

And I'm 2 points behind.

Cause Glee-Loving Boss still gives me crap about flu shots, even moreso after he planted the "flu mist nasal spray" flyer in my mailbox. That was prank number one. I wear the flyer around in my nametag cause it's funny and I'm random like that.

But my nametag also says I'm 30 percent off at Target, so there.

And This Issue is Not For Checkout, comes aplenty as well.

What else are you supposed to do with all those stickers after you take them off the magazine barcodes? You put the new magazine on the display rack and have to take the sticker off the old one.

There's pretty much just a buildup of randomness in and on my nametag.

And I'm keeping this one.

I've had to tape it multiple times since it keeps falling apart.

But that happens when you're an Aide. It gets caught in everything. Our Supply Queen sent me a pack in bulk just cause I kept asking for them. I'm keeping this one.

It also has my star - since GLB stuck one on my forehead one day mid-shift (no warning) and said I was the star. I put that on my nametag, along with the giant Mickey Mouse sticker he gave me saying I could get another if I went to get a shot.

Not happening.

At least the Mickey Mouse is sort of fitting as now I'm sort of Youth Services.

Partly.

But I'm sad cause I don't want this one to fall apart like my last one did. And that had my gold star on it from Space Cadet from the "She says I should get a sticker. Or a gold star. Or a pizza." conversation when she said I deserved it for having over 100 percent in Superwoman's point system.

So I wrote that to Superwoman who replied, "Oh good grief, she would say pizza." Then told me my prize was a snowflake sticker "compliments" of her, aka the ones on the desk we give out to kids that she didn't even know existed until she showed up that morning and said, "wow, cool snowflake stickers!" Compliments, HA!

That also went on my nametag.

But it's hanging on my door so it's cool.

Oh the sacrifices of being an Aide. Or having been one. Although my work hasn't necessarily changed as I was kind of a jack of all trades there. I'm still one, just in a different building. Like today, when there's computer problems they call on me cause Virtual Services has the weekends off.

Or taking care of the YA section. I'm weeding through that fairly quickly despite spending the majority of the day at the desks. I got through to the J's. But they started at Z so that's progress.

Lots of pulling books, putting them on carts, taking the elevator downstairs, scanning all the books and changing statuses, weeding the ones that don't make the cut, putting the rest back on the cart, taking the cart back upstairs, and re-shelving them.

And going with that, apparently my back is screwed for future use.

We had this seminar thing during a staff meeting when this dude came out from Risk Management to talk about back safety.

Giving us examples of what not to do.

Well, I do that daily.

And that.

And those as well.

Woops.

Maybe not as often anymore since I'm not an Aide. But there's still a lot of that involved in checking in and moving carts and all that.

Do you know how awkward it is to "belly up to your work" when you're pushing a cart? I keep kicking the bottom of the freaking thing.

So, if my back fails on me I'll just be like my Supplies Predecessor and get to call 911 and actually say, "Help, I've fallen and I can't get up!"
