Good thing I went back.
Woke up at noon - Mom called, she brought my Xmas presents and took me out to lunch.
We hit up this local cafe and pie joint, holy awesomeness, Batman, there were like 50 types of pie listed on that menu. It was ridiculously fantastic. Brought a slice of banana cream along with half of my meal home with me.
Where I took a nap and then headed in to work for a whole 2 hours.
One of which I spent in the back room checking in 7 carts, the other at the front desk fielding a complaint that may make tomorrow quite interesting considering who I'm pretty sure it's about.
Don't worry, not staff.
After work I headed over to Oldest Sister's house for supper and come up with a game plan for Saturday. I'm off this weekend so when I woke up to a text from my super sweet boyfriend suggesting we hit up the hockey game this weekend, maybe taking Squirt and Bubby with us, I cleared it with their Mom and they're in.
Along with Squirt's boyfriend.
He did survive New Years with us and the many many rounds of Apples to Apples so you gotta give him props for that.
They seemed excited about the game. I'm already the cool aunt but since it was the boyfriend's suggestion I'm pretty sure he's won them over.
Though compared to the 2 others that they've met out of the ... let's not go there, he is the best.
So we ate and watched part of the Bama vs. Dame game.
When I left Bama was up big, haven't turned it back on but with the way the Irish were playing I'm pretty sure they got hosed.
Now I'm back and falling asleep but a question for you first.
So, the boyfriend got me this awesome smart bluray player that allows you to hook up to the internet and watch stuff off Netflix, Hulu Plus, etc. So now I'm debating on which to invest in, either of those or Amazon Prime.
Though I don't know if Prime is compatible or not. So I'm holding off on that one. Though I would get free shipping on stuff.
Anyway, Mom had Netflix so I've used that before but I watch stuff on Hulu all the time.
I'm leaning toward Hulu Plus since it has more recent TV episodes. It looks like with Netflix it's just past seasons.
But any experience with either?

I stand here by the owl.
Yes, I did post last night, however I'm guessing half of you didn't read it because Facebook went all spastic on me and wouldn't let me post the link.
So, I will post tonight's and last night's and then you'll get a double dose of my crazy and be set.
I'm feeling a bit crazy at the moment, though I'm not sure how I got to this point exactly. Everything was fine a couple of hours ago. Work was fine. Dinner with the sisters was fun. Have half of my rainbow chicken and fries in the fridge. Will most likely eat it after this post.
But you know how you're having a great day and then something happens like say you realize you totally forgot about a massive assignment that's due in like 3 days and then your day just goes from happy to oh my god it's the end of the world and then you turn into some emotional wreck because you don't know know what to do?
Or is that just me?
I feel like that happens frequently, especially lately, but it's just something I'll have to deal with for the next couple years at least.
This whole 3 classes thing is throwing me off cause all the assignments are due at different times and I get preoccupied focusing on the 1 class cause there's more work required and put off the other 2. Then realize I have an assignment due on Sunday that I'm sure she mentioned like weeks ago but since it's an online class it didn't stick with me.
But I did the math today, I'm at like halfway through the program already cause I've taken:
Managing Collections - 3 credits
YA Lit - 3
Management of Information Agencies - 3
Children's Lit - 3
Cataloging - 3
which is 15 plus now I'm in:
Reference - 3
Intro to Info Tech - 3
Adult Services - 3
which puts me at 24 credits out of the 43 I have to complete.
Next semester I'll take 9 more which will be 33, then I'll do my practicum in the summer plus one other class that's only 1 credit so I'll be at 37 and after that I've got 2 left for 43 and I'm done!
For life!
Cause there ain't no way I'm going to get a doctorate, I'll stick with my Master's.
December of 2013.
It'll be done.
The Cool Aunt is making me walk.
As in across the stage to get my diploma.
I live in Nebraska but am getting my degree through a distance education program through the University of Missouri.
And since it's through them the graduation service will be in Missouri.
Apparently getting it in the mail is unacceptable.
Which is fine. As long as the Library Goddess will be there for it I'm in.
Maybe invite my boss as well as she's been supportive of the whole adventure.
But that's a long way off.
Speaking of my boss, don't you love it when your boss calls and begins the conversation with "don't freak out"? Doesn't that make you all warm and fuzzy? Or does your boss not do that?
I find it highly amusing because she knows me well enough to know that I am.
Apparently I'm training some of my superiors on the stuff I learned at a seminar last week.
But Superwoman is going to be there now so I don't know how much she wants me to talk about.
So it'll be fine. I'll act like I know what I'm doing.
Air of confidence that I apparently project at work. Or so I've been told. Which makes me laugh because I'm the youngest and probably the most clueless out of the bunch. They're all super smart. And then there's me. In charge of a bunch of stuff.
But it's good. Keeps me out of trouble.
Where was I? Oh yes, so emotional and crazy but seeing it in writing and how soon it will all be over with is good. Puts things into perspective.
And, since I should really be sleeping cause I totally started the massive assignment before posting this it is super late and totally not the 11:50 this post claims to be.
Which is the norm as of late.
Where was I in videos? Think in the teens somewhere.

Alright, emotional wreck has been distracted and is now going to bed to sleep off the crazy. Can't exactly call in sick tomorrow.

Forgetting all I'm lacking, completely and complete...
Homework.
Ugh.
3 hours later and we're still not done.
Ugh.
Even worse? We ended up with more questions than answers which made the homework bite the dust.
Ugh.
Oh well, it's not due for a while so we can come back to it. And she's cool so that's always good for a partner.
As of now I'm gonna eat chocolate, as that heals all, and go to bed.
Looking forward to tomorrow, gonna see Titanic with the boyfriend. Will probably be packed but whatever.
Other than the frustration that is homework today was good. Staff meeting in the morning - I felt like such a nerd cause this whole cataloging class has taught me a lot about our operating system and really how to search for things and what terminology to use.
So yes, I'm a nerd and we're supposed to share stuff with our coworkers but how can I explain without making me sound like a total nerd that you can search "Explosive 18" and "Explosive Eighteen" and get results either way because the cataloger included the 246 tag meaning it has the alternate title in the bibliographic record.
Or like if you type in an episodes title - depending on the cataloger - you'll be able to find the DVD because all the titles are listed in the added entries contents tag aka 505.
Or actors names/subject topics under added entry in the 600's.
But basically if you can't find something it's not necessarily the system that's not listing it just to tick you off, the system depends heavily on the cataloger and how much information was input.
Or copy-cataloged from OCLC.
Which I think is the easiest and most common way to add something to your catalog.
Anyway you can find all that in the bib record on the MARC option which shows you how many letters are skipped in order to be properly cataloged and where information is located on the book by using code.
Which I guess is irritating to people because they're about to switch over to RDA where everything i spelled out and easier to comprehend.
The only reason they use codes now is that it takes up less memory space.
And once you get the hang of them they're easy enough.
