FINALLY saw Red 2 tonight with the boyfriend.



I say finally because the original Red is in my top five movies of all time.

I watched it every night for almost 3 months. Maybe longer.

Scale of Awesome for this one says 8/10.

Wasn't as good as the original - but that's true for most sequels - however it did have a lot of good moments.

These were a few of my favorites:

All-in-all I liked it a lot and will buy it when it comes out.

Just like its predecessor.

Today was good. Was super busy with volunteer stuff so the day flew by pretty quickly. Tomorrow is another half and half day.

I actually look forward to those cause neither parts drag on.

Looking for ways to keep track of stats on books that aren't barcoded.

Speaking of, I woke up to like 34 missed texts this morning all revolving around plans for dad's birthday.

But you know me at that time of day. Barely able to tie my shoes so I had no clever responses to send back.

I did buy him a present. A Duck Dynasty book. It's thoroughly exciting.

For him at least, I don't watch the show.

I tried once, it didn't stick.

Anyway, off to bed. Need my sleep to function tomorrow. And there's a staff meeting in the morning. Fake it 'til you make it I guess.

Have you ever had one of those days that you hear something so unexpected that it just completely and totally throws off your entire day?

It didn't help that it was in the middle of the night.

And then I woke up thinking I dreamed it, cause it's one of those way-out-there-never-see-it-coming kind of things.

And then I checked my phone and realized it wasn't a dream.

So then today was just all wonky.

Plus I woke up early to dig out my car, ended up spinning sideways out of the parking space and drove right out, apparently parking diagonal actually works.

Even when it wasn't on purpose.

So I didn't get as much sleep as I should have which made said day even more wonky.

It was just...unexpected.

I have no other words.

But you know, it's a good thing.

My problem is that I'm protective right, to a fault really.

Sketch doesn't even tell me about her boyfriends, let alone introduce us.

Anyway, I'm just protective and I want the best for her, but I'm staying out of it.

Cause she's grown and all that.

And she's happy.

Giddy really.

So we'll see where this goes.

Anyway, aside from all that wonky stuff, I finished Lie To Me.

What the crap?! Seriously.

Clearly they were expecting to do another season because there was no end to that ending.

And at the same time, no real cliffhanger either.

Just a general, unsolved-ness.

If that makes sense.

But with how crappy that last season was there was no way it was getting renewed.

Which didn't help my wonky day.

So now I'm watching Red in search of some sense of normalcy.

Since I fell asleep watching it every night for like a month.

Or two.

Okay it was three.

But anyway, am in need of some normal routine stuff, and since I could think of no other solutions and I had a craving to watch it ever since I saw the preview for the sequel...tada!

Sent our webmaster the Reader's Theater videos and photos. He's gonna upload them to the website, huzzah!

I'm really proud of how they turned out. Especially the pigeon one.

Long story.

But they were great and we shall do it again next year.

And Teen Tech Week is coming along. I had to go out and buy the freakin' candy in the snow yesterday and made it in time for delivery this morning.

That was another huzzah moment.

So my job, for now, is done. End of the week they'll send all the forms back and then Cabin Fever will draw the winner for the iTunes card and we'll be good until next year.

When someone else can take charge and come up with something better.

Even though the "teen experience" crew said it was great.

Ummmm....did some homework. Wrote up the overview of that interview, now gotta wait for other classmates to write up theirs so we can do a discussion board.

Oh yeah, speaking of class, totally crashed one today.

In Special Libraries you know, and today they stopped by the work branch to visit one of our in-house special libraries. It was amusing, they all walked in and went, you work here? It was amusing.

So I crashed their class for my 15 minute break.

Asked my question and ran.

Professor found it humorous.

Actually encouraged my crashing of class.

So does that take away the "crash" when the professor is okay with it?

Cause I feel like the whole point of crashing something is to show up unannounced in like an unapproved manner.

You know, cause like people crash weddings they're not invited to. But I was in fact, invited, so perhaps crashed isn't the best word.

Even though, during my introduction, the professor said I was crashing class.

So she not only approved of said crashing, but she also called it crashing so then I think that re-confirms that it was a crash afterall.

Cause she said it.

I'm going around in circles and none of that made sense whatsoever so skip it please.

I told you my day was wonky, this was my thought process ALL DAY.

Okay so that's wonkyness, the class crashing, more wonkyness, Lie to Me, teen tech week, oh I made spaghetti for supper and then did the homework and now I'm watching Red. Oh and then the car thing this morning and yep, think that's all.

So now I'm gonna go back to watching Red, almost an hour in already and quoting the whole thing while it plays in the background.

Did I mention it was practically every night for three months?

Almost as bad as the Mummy or Returns except not quite to those extremes.

Which goes to show why my mother so is tired of those movies.

Huge day today.

Started off with an active shooter staff meeting.

Meaning we watched a video on what to do if a shooter came into the library, then went around the entire building basement to fourth pointing out where to go if you were in those places.

It was intense, but fun since it was the entire staff. Most meetings are just Public Service and Interlibrary Loan. Sometimes members of Tech Process stop by, but that's it. This was administration - director-ess included - all the way through the aides.

Though a little freaky knowing the reason behind it. Superwoman says they classify the library as a "soft target" because it's a bunch of women and children and shooters want to go somewhere they won't be defended against by men or something.

But I guess we're not the only ones running through this stuff so it's smart.

It brought up some interesting shooter in the library stories, I guess we had this criminal run into the library to hide from police and SWAT came in with guns drawn.

Reference Queen said she looked through a window and saw everyone down on the ground.

Exciting stuff.

But that was like years and years ago.

What was really interesting though was immediately after the meeting our morning stats sucked.

Like seriously sucked.

We've started tallying individual online so you can count totals end of the day, but the morning was totally low compared to other days and the Library Judge says it was cause of the meeting, like we were too freaked to reach out to customers or something, haha.

So that set the tone for the day, I think I had like 25 stats by the end of the day, it was bad. It wasn't like I was lazy, I was up and out, though a few of those hours I spent off desk or in the backroom so I guess that limits numbers.

Plus it was Valentine's Day so it wasn't like the place was hopping.

Anyway, so that was the meeting and immediately following, MEANWHILE I realize that my phone isn't in my pocket and go completely nuts.

Cause I need my phone.

And my iPod.

In my pockets at all times.

Both of them.

Or I will go insane.

So I had to go home over lunch and get it.

Thankfully it was in the apartment, I was all freaked I had dropped it somewhere.

More post-meeting paranoia I guess.

Anyway, so got my phone, handed out my Valentine's.

Yes I brought Valentine's cause I like them and they're fun. Last year I went with Angry Birds and Fun Dip - but none of my older colleagues knew what Fun Dip was - I told that to BossLady and Boss's Boss's Boss's new Assistant and they were like WHAT?! cause who doesn't love Fun Dip, seriously? - so this year I stuck with M&M's.

And Scooby Doo.

With tattoos.

They were awesome.

I brought one to the Magician - who is my savior all the time at work, I flail to her constantly - and she was like "I haven't gotten one of these in years!"

Sad day man, gotta have Valentine's.

So I gave out mine with M&M's and then majestically found a Fun Dip in my desk from last year so I gave that to BossLady as well.

Okay so that was all in the morning, then went home for lunch to get the phone and picked up Arby's on the way back - the afternoon was pretty slow, worked the desk, shelved DVD's, had to dig through Books on CD to find new ones cause display shelves were empty, it gets to be around 5 and I realize I haven't taken a break yet so I did and I spent it putting makeup on.

Hey, don't give me that look.

I only spent my break doing it to so that I wouldn't have to wear it all day long.

So I'm not a girly girl, stop looking at me like that.

Anyway, it was good timing cause about ten minutes after that I'm back at the desk, sorting DVD's when I hear this whistle from Mentor and look up to see the boyfriend at the desk holding a bouquet of flowers.

See, last year I got crap cause he sent me flowers and I turned like beet red. I still remember it I was in the reference workroom and Fearless Leader comes in with them and I move so she can get passed me, thinking she was taking them to Girlscout and she just keeps standing in front of me.

So yeah, beet red.

And I'm sure this year was even more cause he was there in person. And then of course Queen of the Known Universe gives me crap but she's allowed cause out of everyone there she probably knows me best. So she's earned it.

But I love them, they're pretty.


The only challenge now is keeping them somewhere Carter won't eat them.

Which is a challenge, believe me.

So that was like 5:30ish, after work I meet up with him at the apartment and look over the recipe that Mom sent - and bought ingredients for so she was sure I would make it, though she forgot the vegetables so we had to go get those.

He mixed the egg, Bisquick, and milk while I did the chicken, soup and vegetables then added them together in a pan. Left it in the over for about half an hour and it actually didn't turn out too bad.

Was kinda fun, like last year when we made the lemon chicken. Might have a new tradition going.

Whilst waiting for dinner to cook we started Moonrise Kingdom.



I was actually really interesting, I give it a 7/10 on the Scale of Awesome. Bruce Willis really surprised me - I had never even heard of it 'til it crossed the desk at work, but when I saw the cover and then that he was in it I knew I had to check it out cause it just seemed like such a non-him kind of movie.

Also, I'm sensing a theme as this is the third movie we've watched that's had Frances McDormand in it. First was Promised Land, then Almost Famous and now Moonrise Kingdom. Plus I have Fargo checked out so it could be four!

Speaking of Bruce Willis movies....



dude I'm so stoked.

I watched the first one every night for like 2 months.

Granted I'd only make it through like ten minutes before I went to sleep but it literally became a routine and I still laugh.

Okay, super short post for today. Not a lot of highlights, I'm on a roll for volunteers not showing up. Today made 4, but the one in the afternoon made up for it.

Um, looked over the NLA program to see what sections I'll want to go to. Though I don't know how many I'll actually see since I'm in the booth all day with the library goddess. Which should be fun, she's highly amusing.

I'm just not excited to have to leave the apartment at 6AM. But there will be traffic and I think I know where I'm going but I may be way off.

Apparently you can see it from the interstate but we'll see. I told Queen of the Known Universe she'll probably get a 7:58 panic call since I have to be there by 8.

According to mapquest it only takes like 45 minutes but earlier is better in case I get lost and then to find parking. Should have got a room to stay over, I'm not sure how late I'm supposed to say cause there's a lot fun activities going on after the conference.

After work was datenight with the boyfriend and as soon as he texts letting me know he made it back I'm out like a light - this wind is crazy - SO clip of the day:

A big end to a weirdass day.

You know it's weird when you show up and there's no schedule.

Trainee MacGyver'd us one, she rocks. Then we were okay.

Until I was in youth services and suddenly I could hear all this water running. Sounded like a shower. Dude runs out of the bathroom in a panic. Sink was clogged and the water wouldn't stop.

Fantastic.

Oh public libraries.

But the maintenance people were on it fairly quickly so it wasn't a complete and total disaster.

You know when you get the most random song stuck in your head and it just won't leave?

I shelved the Gilligan's Island DVD series and couldn't get the theme song out of my head.

Me: Quick, sing something else!
Trainee: All I can think of is the Gilligan's Island song.

Drove me nuts for an hour.

Pulled out my ipod after work just to drown it out.

I traded that one out for the Monster Mash.

After that it was good.

Movie with the boyfriend tonight. Introduced him to the awesomeness that is John Malkovich in RED.

I still remember watching it with Oldest Sister and Squirt. They were like eh, whatever. Then the dudes showed up to kill him and they were like OO! Rewind that!

I haven't seen that movie in forever. Which is strange, since I watched it every night for like a year.

Technically I only made it through the first few scenes, but still. Every night.

Great comedy, but Steve Carell and Anne Hathaway in an action movie? No one expected them to pull it off but they did. Fantastic acting, awesome cast, great script and so much fun to watch.

3. Charlie's Angels/Charlie's Angels Full Throttle
Okay, so I'm a nut for Drew. Like website and fanclub kind of nut. Certifiable kind of nut. And I'm also a nut for the Charlie's Angels series - own the dvds, went trick or treating with two friends as the Angels - so when you put the two together I was all over it.

2. Mummy 1/Mummy Returns
Awesome acting, awesome cast, excellent script, what more could you ask for? Plus I love Egypt! I was obsessed with it all through grade school and high school, it's the only thing I ever wrote research papers on, it's on the list of places I want to see before I die. So, mixing Egyptology with a cast like Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz, John Hannah, Arnold Vosloo was like a dream come true.

Okay, I made that up, but still, 70 degrees in February?! That's just mental, right? Maybe it will actually be a decent temperature on Saturday...doubtful.

Today I was a ninja of awesome.
Packed up the large type, pulled all the holds and expired holds, plus checked in the whole bookdrop all before 10AM. After that it was cake...not. But fun. And there was cake! Well, brownies, as people brought food to celebrate the February birthdays, thanks everybody! I feel special. The cookies were excellent, and I'm still waiting to try those ass-kicking peanuts with the picture of the donkey on the cover. I'll save that for some time tomorrow probably at lunch. It'll be my mid-day jolt.

Then, after work and working on paper and all that went over to sister's house to watch RED which I convinced her into buying and they loved it! Like the whole family was quoting it, hilarious. "Poop to that!"

So, tomorrow means more work, then final touches to paper before I post it (which I'm putting off until the library goddess gets back to me which is my excuse for procrastinating) then I have a social life, hooray! Mmm...burgers and Glee...awesomeness.

Gotta love watching TV online. I love Hulu, it's fantastic, it has all my favorite shows and it's free. But they stick you with these ads that are like ridiculous then ask if they're relevant to you. Car commercial, relevant? No. Different car commercial, relevant? No. Kay jewelry commercial, relevant? No. Open hearts jewelry commercial, relevant? No. Video game promotion, relevant? No. I was like, what's next? Different video game promotion?
Is it just me or is anyone else secretly waiting for the psycho killer to show up at the end of that "i'm right here and i always will be" storming outside kay diamond commercial? I think I watch too many crime shows. Speaking of, I caught up on Bones and I don't want to ruin anything for anybody else who isn't up to date but dude. Like duuuude. Big episode last week, I'm stoked for tomorrow's. Heather Taffet man! And I was starting to like her as an actress. She was in the Closer, Saving Grace and Criminal Minds as well - although I haven't seen the last one since I'm on strike. I'll spare you the rant. Again. But a serial guest star again, like Natalie! aka "bring it on old man" chick from RED aka Go Meat chick from the Hillshire Farms commercial who also guest spotted on all my favorite shows. Scroll down a few posts and you'll find who I'm talking about. In fact, Taffet and Natalie kind of remind me of one another. Maybe it's the red hair and bad attitude.

So the roads here are awful but Jarvis and I are still having fun. Except that it took FOREVER to scrape off the windshield this morning even though I used the self-start ten minutes before. Just have to start earlier tomorrow morning. But driving and seeing snow flying everywhere reminded me of sledding on the farm. You don't just have the sled you go all out with the 4-wheeler pulling you over hills and ponds and through the ditches. You just gotta hang on for dear life. Especially when your cousin runs you into a mailbox, my bad, sorry Megan. Or over the top of a car, again my bad Megan, but it was well worth it. And it's always fun when you get stuck in a pile of snow and step on the gas only to fly right through making the person on the sled get completely yanked off because it's so sudden. Awesome. Unfortunately I've missed out on the sledding so far since I've been working but I'll have to make up for it when I go home.
One of my favorite snow memories was when it snowed so much and it piled up next to the quanset - this building of ours so big it houses the combine and tractors and all that - and so I climbed all the way to the top and slid down. Mom totally flipped, like flipped. Dad just laughed and went inside to get the camera. I was fearless. There's a picture of me standing on top of this thing and it's not like a flat top building, it's rounded. That was probably a very bad idea. But I survived.
I also liked making forts, we did a lot of that in grade school. But no snowball fights, that was frowned upon, in grade school and high school.

Music currently jamming out to - "Don't know nothing" by Maroon 5. I love the rhythm of this one. I'm recommending their Hands All Over album again, it's fantastic.
Food thinking about eating even though it's after 11 - popcorn. mmm... popcorn.
TV show I will most likely fall asleep watching - NCIS first season, I'm back to the DVDs. I miss Kate. It's so weird seeing Sasha as a Medical Examiner now. And Angie Harmon is still a detective but she'll always be Lindsay Boxer to me. Yes I'm referencing Women's Murder Club. Get over it. But I do like Rizzoli and Isles, I'm waiting for the first season to come out on DVD. Should look into when it comes out. Oh well, job for tomorrow. I'm out.

So I kept shelving and look over to see my Aunt Diane just looking at the books like she belongs there. It was one of those moments where you're like, I know you. But not in this context. So after a nice delayed reaction came the "oh my god, hi!" moment. Fun times. My aunts and uncles have decided to go to Alaska and want Mom and Dad to go as well. I'm wishing them luck with that. I mean Mom will be all for it, but Dad? Should be a challenge, but I promised I'd encourage him. So it was cool getting to see them since I don't as often anymore. Aunt Hay-Hay and uncle Bob are actually moving to Lincoln so she said she would sign up for a library card when they had everything official. Very exciting. After they left I'm shelving the holds and my sister shows up. It was like, were you all sent to check up on me or something? My boss was giving me crap, it was pretty funny.
Aside from all that the stupid "do the bookdrop" song was back in my head. It was followed closely by "All my exes live in Texas" which I sang in the jnonfiction section, not expecting there to be a lady there. She smiled. So I kept singing. haha.

Then, went to lunch with an awesome coworker. Pizza buffet of awesomeness and all for less than ten bucks. Excellent lunch with good company. Will have to do it again.

After jamming out in my car to some awesome Scissor Sisters music - compliments of the library, gotta love checking out cd's - I was actually productive and finished my homework for the week. We were supposed to read half a textbook and post our notes online. I beat the rest of my group so that's exciting. But I'm sure their notes will be much more thorough than mine and like betterly worded. Betterly. I like it. I'm sticking with it, yes I'm sure their notes will be betterly worded, can't imagine why, haha.

And my prize for being productive was to watch RED which came in the mail today. Score! "This is just like Love's Savage Secret!" I'm loving the special features as well. Definitely worth checking out.

Although everytime I see that chick I think of Charmed. She plays Natalie this awful whitelighter, I mean she's good at her job, but she's just an awful person who turns out okay in the end. But she puts the sisters through this bootcamp - this is back when Shannen was still on the show, post Cole's fake death but pre-Piper and Leo's wedding so season three I think it was called "Blinded by the Whitelighter" yes I am that sad, and wait it's about to get even more sad - anyway, bootcamp and she's like upset that they're not taking this certain demon as seriously as they should so she's like, "you need to prepare yourselves physically, spiritually, sartorially..."
"what?"
"she doesn't like our clothes."
"you need clothes that are loose and move. that means no more braless, strapless...fearless attire."
"okay, but then I have nothing to wear." Excellent Prue line there.
and then they're like practicing this battle sequence and Prue knocks the fake crossbow out of her hands -
"oh, i'm sorry."
"not as sorry as if I blinked behind you and stabbed you in the back!"
"well that would be bad."
The entire scene is just completely sarcastic and hilarious and that's why I stuck with the show all 8 seasons. Because every episode mixed in the comedy with the action and the drama and yes it was cheesy but hey, it was fantastic. I think that one is one of my favorite episodes of the series. And this Natalie chick - I don't know what her name is in RED or what her actual name is she's a perpetual guest star she's been in like Bones, NCIS, Saving Grace and all that but she's also in the "GO MEAT" commercials too which cracked me up. Everytime I see her I yell "NATALIE!" and everyone thinks I'm crazy. But this is my blog. I'm allowed to be crazy fangirl and since you're apparently still reading you're okay with that. Or you're okay with it enough to still be reading. So I will shutup and go to bed.
Cole is also in the movie, Julian McMahon, he plays the VP. Interesting. Okay, now really shutting up.


I think I'm gonna watch RED again and crash. Awesome movie, "What does that mean?" "I kill people, dear." "Okay."

So, yesterday's half day got turned into a whole day, not surprising, but not bad. I actually don't mind spending time there. At one point there was no one else there besides myself and my coworker. It snowed and was windy and cold and blah. But then everyone came in at once so we were pretty busy. What is surprising is that I didn't get called in today! So this is what a day off feels like. Wow.
Fun fact #1 - I saw "Red" twice this weekend. Once last night with my brother and again tonight with two friends. So funny. Would totally give it a 9/10 on my Scale of Awesome. "Moldova sucks!"
Today was nice and relaxing. Slept in, went to church, caught up on tv episodes I've missed aka NCIS and The Closer. I watched a Criminal Minds one too, back when it was still good aka pre AJ/JJ incident. Creative Differences whatever.
Tomorrow I'm only scheduled in the morning but it wouldn't be surprising if that changed. I have the afternoon off only because of how many hours I've worked this past week. Gotta make up for it so I don't get past my 20 hours. It's crazy, I haven't been to the big library since the 5th and I'm not scheduled to go back until the 16th! Madness, I'm telling you.

So, it's official. I've covered for all of my coworkers at one of the branches. There's some kind of virus plague going around or something because everyone's been out and since I work as an LA2 at the other library I just basically get promoted when I walk through the door. But not a big deal, I'm getting paid more and it's not like I have something else to do really. Yesterday I went in three times. 9-12 1-3 then 6-8. Today was just 9-6. Which is still busy, especially since there was just two of us all day. But since it's so fast if you're there yourself the day flies by pretty quickly. My highlight though was when this older lady called and was like,
"which branch is this one?" i told her
"is it the one by the pizza place?" i suppose that's us
"what's the name of it" i repeated the name
"yeah, but what's the long name of it?" what? then it hit me, the other branches are named after people but we're just named after the street we're on. so i was like, Nope, we're not that creative.
Then she wanted to buy the new George Bush book from us. Again, not booksellers so had to find her the number for Barnes and Noble. But she ended the call with a "oh, bless your heart" so i feel pretty special.
The best part of the whole thing were the other patrons reactions as they were clearly eavesdropping on the conversation and my coworker was on break so it was just me. The guy was like "you should tell her it's the George (street name) branch."

In other news, I get to sleep in tomorrow so I just watched the Bones episode and the Glee episode that I missed. Both very emotional. I actually cried at like each scene that Coach Beiste was in. Damn these strange girl emotions. I'm not sure if I like this season as much as last year. I bought the Xmas album last week tonight I bought the volume 4 soundtrack.
Bones was excellent as always, Enrico Colantoni guest starred!!! and all I could think of was Elliot from Just Shoot Me. I love that show. I like that even Brennan has a little crazy to her.
Tomorrow planning on going to see RED with my brother. Hooray! Gotta love small town theaters that get the movies 3 months after they've been released. But the Deathly Hallows is next week already so that one came pretty quickly. Should be fun. My oldest sister makes fun of me when I go with him though. "Are you that hard up for a date?!" Nope. Just like going to see movies with him. He's a good brother.
