I could write a blog. I have thoughts.

"Why are you in a dress?" "I'm having a really bad day."

Huzzah for a day off.

Yes I slept in but I was actually very productive.

Tested out that robot vacuum - Carter hates it, I'm gonna come home and it's gonna be in a pile in the corner - went grocery shopping - found a bunch of pop substitutes and am testing them out - wrote all my thank you cards - both graduation and Christmas - and did a bunch of laundry.

Also watched a marathon of America Unearthed.

Archaeologist obsessed with this hooked X mark.

Knights Templar.

Holy Grail.

Ark of the Covenant and all that.

My thought is if he wanted them to be found they would be found.

Plus what would happen to them if they're ever found?

Anyway, so far my pop substitutes are different types of flavored water.

I tried Nestle's wild berry Pure Life splash - it's nasty, avoid that.

So far Propel Zero berry is pretty good but we'll see how long that lasts.

I also got a limeade type of Propel Zero and a strawberry limeade generic Target brand.

Again, we'll see how long they last. Lots of other options out there.

Anyway, I feel accomplished. My apartment is clean, my fridge is stocked, my cat is happy cause the robot is back in its corner...

I swear I'm gonna come home and it's gonna be in pieces. Although I thought that about the Furby too and that's still in existence.

He just hates vacuums period. Every time I clean he runs.

Oh I also fixed my bed.

Yeah, forgot to mention that I broke that last night.

Rolled over and BOOM.

Pretty sure it woke the neighbors.

Sorry about that.

But it happens all the time. The problem is that the frame isn't actually attached to the headboard. And the only thing that keeps the mattress from the ground are boards lying across the frame. So when any of those shift they pop out and I'm on the floor.

It's problematic, but I think I fixed it.

For now that is.

What else?

Oh, while writing my thank you's I finally got around to watching Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters

Is it me or does Sloan Sloan play the same character in everything she's in? Cocky, obnoxious, spoiled... Grey's Anatomy, Hunger Games, now this? Can't wait to see what's next.

Scale of Awesome says 6/10.

That's all I got for today.

On to the music, more favorites from 2013.

Treasure - Bruno Mars

one of the rumored artists that may be in Milligan tomorrow. apparently they're filming a pepsi commercial there because it's halfway between los angeles and new york but it's a big secret as to who the act will be. though someone did see faith hill shopping today in g-town which could mean it's either her or tim mcgraw.

Thrift Shop - Macklemore and Lewis

i actually just recently started listening to this song all the way through. before it annoyed me but now it's grown on me.

"But avoid the Super 8 there like the plague...unless you want the plague."

Guess what?

I had fun.

Worlds of it.

Literally.

In case you weren't aware, the boyfriend and I went to Worlds of Fun this weekend.

It was packed, but we got fastlane passes so we were able to jump lines.

Ironically, the line for the fastlane passes was the longest line we stood in all day.

Got there at around 11AM and stayed until about 11:45PM.

Did my 17 roller coaster rides - he did more - for some reason I kept getting nauseous which confused me cause last year when we went I was fine the whole day.

Though last year we went in October so it wasn't 90 degrees.

Plus we actually ate stuff.

This year not so much.

But I did wear sunscreen so my mother will be proud.

It was a lot of fun.

When I wasn't having a panic attack and running all over the park retracing my steps.

Why is it that whenever we go somewhere I lose things?

We went to Vegas I lost my camera.

We went to Boone I lost my ring.

We go to Worlds of Fun and I lose my phone.

Temporarily.

The nice man at the Mamba saved it for me.

Pretty sure my mom got called in the process.

Sorry.

The whole time the boyfriend was the picture of cool.

Same with the previous losses.

It's clear which one of us is the more sane.

Though was that really ever questioned?

Anyway, once it was found we went to the car and I left everything in it but the keys.

I did manage to take some pictures before I ditched it though.

We actually took some time to see shows since we had all day.

These guys were pretty good.

Country Junction.

Took a few videos, may upload them later.

AND the spyglasses worked.

So rock on.

Got some cool coaster and drummer videos from them.

Which I will hold off on posting as they are loud and long and I need to fix them first.

It was well worth the trip.

Afterward we were both zonked so we didn't want to drive all the way back.

Stopped at the Super 8 first cause it was right across the street but they were full.

However, their nightshift employee was highly entertaining.

Directing us to other hotels yet warning us to stay away from a different branch of their franchise.

See title of post.

Gotta love it when they're honest.

Ended up staying at a different Super 8 - not the one with the plague - and then came back this morning.

Stopped at a Waffle House along the way.

Awesome chocolate chip waffles.

And raisin toast.

Which reminds me that I need to eat something else today.

Anyway, right before we left Missouri we saw this mega fireworks stand.

And it was kind of like the mother ship was calling me home.

If I were to own a fireworks stand - which I dream about - this would be how I would do it.

Giant warehouse in their backyard.

Posters and figures all over the walls.

(love that paris is in jail with spock as the guard)

Awesome music playing in the background - I'm talking a mix of the best from all the decades.

Plus some awesome discounts - if you spend a certain amount of money you get so much stuff free, however it applies to your next visit.

The staff being as awesome as it was said to go to my car, unload my fireworks and then come back.

Cause that would count as a separate visit.

Did I mention how much I love awesome employees?

Needless to say I spent far too much on fireworks, though it was only certain stuff cause the rest I get from my Dorm Mom.

Who gives me free stuff cause she loves me.

Speaking of, gonna call her this weekend.

I love it, she knows my number so she answers the phone with "yes, we're open!"

Ah, how well she knows me.

Alright, it is getting late and I need to work more on the paper that's due tomorrow at midnight.

Which I have started but just barely.

I did read through all my sources and I have an outline planned.

Now it's just the whole typing thing and the sources thing and the you know, coming up with actual words to say thing.

So, the usual.

Will be glad to be done in December!

Okay, music.

Treasure - Bruno Mars

i'm still debating if i like this song or not. heard it first on the voice - this performance, love the retro jackson 5 approach - and then we heard it on the way back so i'm posting it.

Don't Phunk With My Heart - Black Eyed Peas

another Song You Know But Forgot You Knew It - heard this one on the ride back as well. coincidence that it is also 70's style.

like them better as the Black Eyed Peas than I do separately as will.I.Am and Fergie.

Alright, back to the homework.

"two hours outside any city looks like Kentucky."

No matter how crazy life can be or how frustrating or how tiring or how whatever, my teens always make me feel better.

And I'm not saying that I'm tired or frustrated or whatever about the library, I love my job, love my life, love my boyfriend, love my family, etc.

I'm just saying, they cheer me up.

No matter what's going on.

Had our monthly meeting today, scavenger hunt is next week with the Cosplay party after that.

Cosplay as in costume party.

I'm guessing we'll have a bunch of anime kids and all that. Think one of mine is going as Doctor Who. Should be interesting.

Anyway, so we went over notes for the next few months, scheduled some more fun stuff. They want to be more involved and do more stuff so I've tried to do a meeting and an activity every month. This time they want to do a Reader's Theater kind of thing in which they'll act out something on the spot that's being read to them.

I'm thinking cheesy romance novels sound hilarious.

And then for the next one they're thinking game day - wii, board games, etc.

Aside from the meeting it wasn't a very eventful day. Spent the majority of it in the back room checking stuff in or stocking supplies.

Oh, I trained yet another new employee.

He's not ours but he's training here cause the branch he's actually supposed to work at also has 3 other new employees.

So there's no one around to train them there cause they're all new.

Well, most of them are new, think they still have 2 of the originals.

Anyway, so trained one of them on desk stuff, then had the TAB meeting and decorated the Young Adult area with all of their lovely artwork and bookmarks.

Then after work the boyfriend came up and we went to see Promised Land.

Written by Dave Eggers but adapted by Matt Damon and John Krasinski.

aka Jason Bourne and Jim from The Office.

Scale of Awesome says about 7/10. Interesting to see him in serious roles now instead of action stuff. Though he was all carpenter in this one like We Bought a Zoo.

It's basically about Matt Damon and his partner played by Frances McDormand. They're natural gas salespeople and arrive in this small town attempting to sway people to sign over their land to be drilled but this environmentalist shows up and all hell breaks lose.

It's interesting, good storyline and all that. Well-casted.

But it was nice to see something so different from what we usually watch. Due to timing constraints mostly cause there's only a few hours between when I get off work until when he has to leave here to get to work on time.

Alright, I should crash. Totally exhausted. And Carter's already sleeping and taking up half the couch.

More of 2012's greatest hits.

Gangnam Style - Psy

it's hard to beat the originator but i think i like mitt romney style better.

scroll down a few posts and you'll see it.

or just go here

Farming and I Grow It - ThePetersonFarmBros

since i can't post the original version of this one for reasons that will go unexplained - though if you've seen it then you understand - you get the parody instead.

and i enjoy it so you should watch it.

What Happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas: Day Three

:: The buffet to eat all buffets
- Met up with the gang for breakfast at the buffet. Holy crapola was that a lot of food. The line was pretty substantial but once we got in I realized why. I think there were like 8 different sections of food. Basically, you sat a table then went in to pick what you wanted. I had fruit, biscuits and gravy, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, toast. The boyfriend had all that plus about 2 other plates full of food. Big brother had some sort of beef or steak or something, it was amazing the variety.

:: Starbucks vs. Walgreen's
- You know the Starbucks theory? How there is one every other block? I have a new theory. It's called the Walgreen's theory. Whilst in Vegas I saw only one Starbucks the entire time I was there, however, it seemed like there was a Walgreen's everywhere! It got to the point where - and I've watched this skit far too many times this is proof - every time I saw one the phrase "would be like a Walgreen's, there would be two on every block and four in every airport..." would pop in my head.

:: Roller Coaster in the Sky
- So remember the boyfriend's obsession with roller coasters? And how we rode on them for 10 hours straight at World's of Fun? If not, read this: The difference between "if" and "when" Anyway, so he decided that he wanted to ride on the roller coaster on top of the New York New York hotel. As did my brother-in-law. Since my stomach was still iffy from the flights/elevator that went to high so fast that it literally made your ears ring/ginormous breakfast I happily let them go together whilst I tagged along. So they rode it while I played this ridiculously addictive Saturday Night Fever quarter game. I'm not sure what the game had to do with John Travolta or the movie but it had his picture on it. This is the same game - minus John Travolta - that the boyfriend got me hooked on this summer at the fair, go here: 2012 skits, sickness, olympics and a giant guitar. Anyway, the tickets I got from the game I gave to a kid on the way out. Not like I needed a prize out of their cheesy stash. Plus I'd have to carry it all the way back to the hotel.

:: Camera Drama
- This is where the trip went downhill. Everything was all fine and dandy and then somehow I left my camera in a taxi. Fell out of my coat pocket. Me of course being the over-reactor that I am totally flipped out. We talked to this hotel dude who checked the security camera and gave us a list of taxi cab companies that we could call, but of course when you don't plan on leaving something in a taxi you don't really pay attention to your surroundings as well as you should. Luckily my boyfriend is a car expert so he knew which company to call so we called and left our information. But it's a big town with a lot of cabs and interesting people so we have yet to hear back. I called again once we got back but still nothing. Eh. But it's fine, at least it wasn't my wallet or my phone.

:: My boyfriend is sweeter than your boyfriend.
- Remember my segments about how my boss is cooler than your boss? or my coworkers are cooler than your coworkers? New one for you, my boyfriend is sweeter than your boyfriend. So, since I'm me, I wanted to stay in the hotel room for the rest of the day drowning in misery. If you know me and picture you would understand. I think I have over 60 albums uploaded to Facebook, not to mention multiple computers filled with them. The boyfriend then suggests we go to Best Buy and get a new one but I was having none of it. Favorite Sister-In-Law was also present. Next thing I know he's gone so I turn on Friends and start watching that. Then get a text from Second Sister claiming she misses her kids so I needed to meet her at Treasure Island to distract her. Since we were going to the show right after dinner I figured I would get changed first but didn't have enough energy to put on the makeup as was originally planned.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that in yesterday's post. The night before the girls gave me a makeover with the makeup, I walked into the room and the boyfriend went Whoa. And that was it. There were no other words used. So I took a picture - I'll get back to that later.

So meanwhile, I changed and went down to meet Second Sister in front of the pirate ship - the red one, not the blue one. And I texted the boyfriend as I was leaving cause he told me to text him if I was going anywhere. Told him where I was going then called Second Sister cause our hotel is huge and without the boyfriend apparently suddenly I lose all sense of direction and can't find the correct exit. Except I did. But she was trying to convince me that I was wrong. Which didn't help things. I get out the back door, can literally see the pirate ship and she tells me I'm going the wrong way. Woops. Anyway, met her there and the boyfriend said he would meet us where we were having supper aka Phil's Italian Steakhouse. Someone did some massive planning on that one since some people wanted Italian and others wanted steak. Perfect.

Anyway, so we get the the restaurant - yes I did just spell check that as always - and he shows up with a new camera and memory card. Apparently, whilst still in the room he signaled Favorite Sister-In-Law that he was going to get the camera, found the address to Best Buy then took off with Brother-in-Law to go get one - same model and everything. Pretty sure all the women swooned and said something to the effect of "why can't you be that romantic with me?!" to all their husbands. But it wasn't just the camera, it was also the fact that he volunteered to go all the up and down the strip again just to retake all of the pictures that we had taken the night before.

So the only original pictures I still have left were the ones from my phone - including the makeover pictures that made him go Whoa, label me as stunning and claim to be able to look at that all day.

See, sweet.

Anyway, somehow my brother ended up seeing that picture and legitimately said "who's that?" and had no clue, then didn't believe it was me.

Perhaps I'll upload them later, if not I'm sure they'll surface on Facebook eventually.

:: Shared entree and salad
- Remember yesterday about the food pattern? I would order something, eat three bites then he would finish it after eating his own meal. See, we rarely eat when we're together. Unless there's someone with us. But since the buffet was giant we weren't really all that hungry so we shared some sort of fancy salad and shrimp scampi entree.

:: Beatles Love
- We saw the Beatles Love circ du soleil show at the Mirage on Monday night, it was fantastic. We had excellent seats right up front so we could literally reach out and touch someone if we wanted to. But that would be frowned upon. There was so much going on at once it was like you didn't know where to look. Tons of acrobats jumping and spinning and dancing and singing. Awesomeness.

:: Strip Take Two
- So we went all the way from the Wynn to the Luxor and back. Gotta be like 5 miles at least. Think I actually lost weight on that vacation, and when does that happen ever? We retook our pictures and even a few more - especially of the Luxor but I rambled about that fascination yesterday.

:: Shotglass Collection Continues
- So I have this thing where I collect shot glasses whenever I go on a trip. I got it from my brother. Anyway, the one I snagged and brought home I got this night on the street at a convenience station of sorts. I think around 2 or 3 in the morning. Was cool to see the strip at night but it brought out the creepers, though not as many as I thought. Had some well-placed security guards.

Cause Lord Knows I'm a Rolling Stone

"Wedding cake freezes, this we know."
"Runaway Bride" I love it. 7/10 on the Scale of Awesome. Maggie - Runaway Bride - Carpenter leaves grooms at the alter, so far there's been 3 with another wedding about to happen. Ike the New York reporter finds this story to hard to pass up so he completely bashes her and loses his job. In search of vindication he goes to meet her and prove that he was right, meanwhile finding out all about the true her and why she left all those men.
Julia Roberts, Richard Gere, Joan Cusack

I forgot that Christopher Meloni is one of the grooms.
I think I like them better together in this one than I do in Pretty Woman. It's like a reunited cast, seriously.
Plus Joan Cusack is hilarious. Sketch is a big fan of that family - mostly because of Gross Pointe Blank. "I'm taking down the office now!" Maybe that'll be next on my list tomorrow night.

"Cheer. Normal."

I love split shift. I can take naps, I can watch movies, I can run errands - this time I cleaned my apartment. I even spot-cleaned the place. Not that it needed it, although I'm clumsy and Carter is Carter. Carter hates the vacuum. Scares the crap out of him. Runs and hides.

Then watched some Scooby doo. They have this Mystery Incoporated series, it's actually pretty funny. Although it has Shaggy and Velma as a couple plus Daphne fawning all over Fred - which I guess is normal. Just weird to actually see them as teenagers and you know, people with lives other than purely focusing on mystery solving. Did it used to be that way and I was just too young to notice? I thought it was purely mystery stuff without all that relationship drama. Will have to look for the original series through interlibrary loan or something.

"I think I am profoundly and irreversibly screwed up."

Songs of the night: It's jam out time.

"Runaway Baby" - Bruno Mars

wasn't really a fan before but after listening to his whole album i'm loving it.

"Only You" - Josh Kelley

yes that's Katherine Heigl and yes they're married now. I think I posted that a while ago but just in case you didn't already know.

Tomorrow is coming faster than I thought it would which means I should sleep. Gonna pick up NCIS season 8 after work, huzzah!
