Happy Christmas Eve!
Christmas Music That Doesn't Suck 2014 Edition: Day Eleven
Getting down to my real favorite songs here.
Carol of the Bells - Staring at Lakes
Interesting take on it. Love the accents. Give them a minute, it's worth it.
2013 was the Piano Guys, 2012 was Pentatonix, 2011 was Home Alone soundtrack
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas - Anna Kendrick
And see, you think she's just good in Pitch Perfect, but no. She's good on her own without all the effects. Crazy good.
2013 was Christina Perri, 2012 was Xtina with Brian McKnight, 2011 was Judy Garland
Oh Holy Night - Home Free
Yes more from them. Get over it, I bought their Xmas CD as well. It's quite good. Still want to see them live.
2013 was Jordis Unga, 2012 was Hey Monday, 2011 was Glee
2011 Day Eleven - Let all within us praise his holy name
2012 Day Eleven - To the Moon, Alice
2013 Day Eleven - From now on our troubles will be miles away
I could write a blog. I have thoughts.
Life at the library, adventures with friends and other hysterics...

From now on our troubles will be miles away.
I love that someone got to my blog by googling "Monica Potter Tall Tall Trees Feet"
Yes, she is in that video, but what is your fascination with her feet?
So today was work - we closed at 2 - and then the boyfriend's family Christmas.
I like their traditions it's very relaxing with no tiny children running all over the place.
Though they did have two dogs there tonight that were really not friends at all.
One fell asleep on my lap, she was really cute.
Anyway, so I went there, we ate supper then went to church. Was a candlelit thing, pretty cool, and then opened presents back at their place.
Got some pretty cool stuff - some awesome Husker chairs, socks, a digital picture frame, giftcards, and a wicked awesome Darth Vader bag.
It's a bag.
Cause I don't wear purses.
And Craig called it a bag and since he's the one who bought it that makes it a bag.
Though that didn't stop my boyfriend from labeling it as purse and calling it that repeatedly.
Even coming up with a little song about it.
Nope. Not a purse. Cause I don't wear purses.
But it is wicked sweet man.
And then of course there was the present from the boyfriend.
He was really good about keeping it secret and had me completely fooled.
Remember a few months ago when we decided - on the fly - that we were gonna go to Reno to see one of his favorite bands play? The full story is on here somewhere - ha, found it. Anyway, he mentioned it once one night before he left for work and when I woke up the next morning he already had the flight and rooms all booked.
Turns out my boyfriend is full of crap.
Instead of taking me to Reno he's taking me back to Vegas.
And we're staying in the Pyramid Suite of the Luxor Hotel.
aka my favorite cause I'm an Egypt nut. I literally drug him all over that hotel and photographed everything when we were there in November. Check Facebook, you'll see the pictures.
So he's really sweet.
And a punk.
First cause he lied. And second cause the tickets were in a box underneath a bag of coal.
Yes, actual coal from a train.
But he wrapped the present himself - which never happens. And I knew it was big cause his sister was there and she told me to sit down before I opened it.
Best boyfriend ever.
See what happens when I don't give him a list? It really works out in my favor so I'm going with it.
Anyway, so that was my day. I hope you all had a rockin' Christmas Eve.
Tomorrow is Christmas morning with my parents, then lunch with his extended family, and then hopefully supper with my parents. More on that later.
On to the music.
Christmas Music that Doesn't Suck: Day Eleven
Carol of the Bells - The Piano Guys
pretty cool. almost makes me want to learn cello. almost.
2012 was Pentatonix, 2011 was Home Alone soundtrack
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas - Christina Perri
it's hard to beat judy garland, but this comes close.
2012 was Xtina with Brian McKnight, 2011 was Judy Garland
Oh Holy Night - Jordis Unga
are you really surprised? she's still who i associate with the voice because she was my favorite for the first season i watched it ever. but this is great, she recorded it with an iphone so it's got a unique sound quality.
2012 was Hey Monday, 2011 was Glee
2011 Day Eleven - Let all within us praise his holy name
2012 Day Eleven - To the Moon, Alice

to the moon, alice!
Christmas Eve with the boyfriend's family today.
They didn't have to get me anything but I came home with quite the load.
The boyfriend and I bought presents together this year. Which is kind of a big deal.
And while getting ideas on what he wanted was much like pulling teeth when it came to my gifts he totally swept me off my feet.
Remember how I mentioned that he kept singing Payphone over and over this weekend? I said something to the effect of Maroon 5 was coming to Nebraska along with Neon Trees and Owl City and it would be cool to go.
Not knowing that he had already bought the tickets
...and that that was the reason the song was stuck in his head.
And they're good seats.
So there was that.
And a blu ray player.
Which I was thinking about buying for myself but holding off for xmas money. Actually the same model that he got me.
Best boyfriend ever.
I got him lots of stuff since we're having 2 Christmases but nothing can top those really.
His family is awesome. His brother got me the Batman trilogy on Blu ray - perfection for first set of blu rays - plus a Husker sweatshirt that I'm currently wearing, a sweet Husker stoplight that the Cool Aunt will totally be jealous of, some cool water bottles, and a wicked bag that says "I like big books and I cannot lie" which makes me laugh amongst other things.
Plus some stuff for Carter.
They rock.
Tomorrow morning is Christmas with mom and dad and then more stuff with the boyfriend's family - extended this time.
It's interesting. If you would have told me last year that now I'd be in a serious relationship spending Christmas with the boyfriend's family I would have laughed.
Though I never think in terms of years, it's always in terms of five years.
Because I'm not a fan of the future and I don't like change so throwing out theories about things happening five years from now is much less stressful than a year.
Does that make sense?
Before it was:
In five years from now maybe I'll have someone.
In five years from now maybe I'll be married.
Now it's more like:
In five years from now maybe I still won't have kids.
Don't get too excited about that one, he says stuff about not having them either.
Though my mother would kill me and his mother has already told me she expects three.
No pressure.
Where was I before this tangent?
Today.
It was great. Soup for lunch, then presents, watched Short Circuit #1, went to church and then watched Short Circuit #2 - which I gave him on Blu ray - apparently he used to watch them over and over as a kid.
Not bad. Interesting to see G.W. Bailey before he was Provensa. Same attitude about life but less gray hair.
And that's basically today. Tomorrow I'm excited cause I got Mom a lot this year. And Dad some pretty cool stuff as well. Though this is only a few things since the majority of our stuff is saved for New Years with the rest of the family.
On to the music.
Christmas Music that Doesn't Suck: Day Eleven
Alright, it's getting down my favorite songs of all time.
Carol of the bells - Pentatonix
they're pretty good.
though i'm having mixed emotions about this video.
Have yourself a merry little Christmas - Christina Aguilera with special guest Brian McKnight
love her.
can't be replaced. even if i do like shakira.
one season though, just one season and she'll be back.
Oh Holy Night - Hey Monday
yes, i know. if you know me or read this blog this version really shouldn't be that big of a surprise.
but to be fair i was a big fan of them before she turned up on the voice.
didn't stop me from choosing her as my number one.
and see how well that worked out?
team blake all the way.
so yes, that was my favorite religious holiday song. and if you were around for last year's 12 days of music you already know what i'm going to post for tomorrow's pick but stay tuned anyway.
For last year's Day Eleven go here
Legitimate pre-midnight post. Holy crap tag in use.

Let all within us praise his holy name
Yes, this is late.
Sorry.
My only excuse is that I was up late watching the Red Green Show. Which is not an excuse you should use very often because then people would start to worry.
Though it is quite humorous, he made a backhoe out of an old car, a ladder and a trashcan. And you can't forget the duct-tape, that's the main ingredient in every skit as it's the "handyman's secret weapon".
It's amusing when you've been in so many Christmas programs that you're able to recite the words with the kids. My niece and nephew were pretty impressive. Apparently my nephew came home one night from practice - he's five - and said "The other kids don't know the line so I have to lead them." He's still young enough that they say their big line with a group of kids their age. But my niece said hers by herself, she was the loudest and the most understandable so I was proud.
Some interesting life developments that I'll keep you posted about later. Once I figure out what's going on. Long story.
So, here I sit, on the couch in the Claudia Warehouse 13 shirt, now all I need is the Grinch and some Doris Day music.
For now I'll give you these.
Christmas Music that Doesn't Suck: Day Eleven
"Carol of the Bells"
Yes it's a random soundtrack to pimp out, but I love it! Excellent Christmas music, I already told you I was a Home Alone freak so is this really surprising?
"Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" Judy Garland from the Judy Garland Show
like I said a few weeks ago, she sings it the best but I cry no matter who's singing it.
"O Holy Night" Glee Cast Version
now we get to my favorite sacred Christmas song, tomorrow you'll get my favorite silly one, there's just something about this one that makes me smile.
this version is fantastic, as much as i love the other characters i'm glad it's rachel who sings this one. i often want to punch her character, but then she sings and all the anger just goes away.
Alright, off to church. Have a Merry Christmas!
