I could write a blog. I have thoughts.

And I find it kind of funny I find it kind of sad The dreams in which I'm dying Are the best I've ever had.

Another season of American Ninja Warrior comes to NBC?

When was the first season?

And why?!

I know that you probably don't care, but this was epic.

And you should rejoice.

Because it's the finals, meaning after tomorrow you won't have to read my rambles on the Voice until next season!

When Xtina and Cee-Lo return!

I will miss Shakira though.

Maybe even Usher.

Okay, so here is my lineup for the last time.

Red = Adam
Green = Blake
Blue = Usher
Purple = Shakira

Judith Hill
Jess Kellner
Midas Whale
Caroline Glaser
Monique Abbadie

Sasha Allen
Michelle Chamuel
Sarah Simmons
Christian Porter
Jessica Childress

Jeff Lewis
Jacqui Sandell
Karina Iglesius
Holly Tucker
Garrett Gardner

Danielle Bradbery
Amber Carrington
Savannah Berry
Josiah Hawley
Audrey Karrasch

Artists left:

Team Blake:
Danielle Bradbery
Swon Brothers

Team Usher:
Michelle Chamuel

Both Adam and Shakira are out.

Which is interesting because they had Judith, Sarah and Sasha. Who should have won this whole thing.

Now I'm guessing Danielle is gonna win it.

I haven't checked iTunes or Facebook and I'm not even halfway through the episode yet but I know she's gonna win.

I'm rooting for her or Michelle.

If the Swon Brothers I'm gonna be pissed.

I just don't get them apparently.

But I like Danielle because she and Blake are bringing back classic country music

Timber, I'm Falling In Love

and she's got the power vocals to do it.

And I like Michelle because she's the awesome nerdy underdog.

I Knew You Were Trouble

4 Eyes on the Prize yeah man.

Okay, sorry, I missed it tonight so I'm watching it now.

Slept in, did homework, went in for two hours, headed out to see the boyfriend, got dinner, watched a movie, and now I'm back.

Smo came in today.

Was fun getting to see her again.

She met Wordie.

Smo was my high school roommate.

Well, one of them.

I was sort of a serial roommate-er I guess.

Freshman year I had....2,1,3 so 6, and then Sophomore year was just me and Smo, Junior was Smo, Shel and Juwanna and then Senior year was me and Juwanna.

So like 7 roommates.

But that's leaving out all the girls that Smo and I got stuck with Sophomore year.

Every time somebody came to visit the school or started and then stopped or whatever, they lived with us cause we were the um I guess the most school spirited ones?

Mrs. Gotta called us bubbly I believe.

Or maybe that was one of the girls she stuck with us, I can't remember.

Anyway, so it would be 7 but there were 3 others that came and went during that year alone so that makes 10.

Meaning there were only 3 female classmates I didn't room with.

The joys of a dorm high school.

Interesting because in all of college I only had 1 roommate.

Though I requested it that way.

Myers and I had a lot of fun Freshman year but after she got her own place I was good on my own.

Sketch and I decided if we lived together we'd kill each other.

Why yes, we are the best of friends.

But that's the problem.

We wanted to remain best friends.

And you don't do that when you're trapped in a room with someone every day.

Though she did steal my extra mattress frequently.

I really don't remember anything else about today.

Was nice to sleep in since I was up 'til like 4.

I enjoy those 2 hour shifts, however gonna change and do half hour lunches on the weekends I work instead because then I'll have 2 whole days off. Instead of 1 day and 6 hours.

Okay, I know, I'm boring.

We watched Magic Mike tonight.

It was...interesting.

Didn't get all the way through it, but I do like the guys in it - Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer, Alex Pettyfer, Matthew McConaughey, etc.

Pretty sure his house is haunted though cause during the movie his pop like exploded all over the place.

So apparently the house is not a fan of exotic male dancing.

Which is fine with me.

And that's really I got for today.

Mad World - Gary Jules

I know some people prefer the original Tears for Fears version but I like this one much better.

Lyrics match up better with the tempo on this one than the funki-fied T4Fs version.

Plus the video is cooler.

Jack Harper, Tech 49

More Aide Training today.

She reminds me of my original high school roommate, looks just like her and is goofy as well.

Original meaning my first roommate.

Well, I guess there were two, but then the one got kicked out. Then another moved in and then I switched rooms and moved in with two others and then another moved in with us so I had...6 roommates throughout freshman year?

And then she went on to room with Juwanna - who was my last high school roommate - before ditching us for Texas.

My favorite memory of her is, okay so it was freshman year and I was super homesick and I think it was like the first or second week and she was trying to cheer me up so she put a box on her head - think she was unpacking or something - and started dancing.

So I pulled out my disposable camera and took a picture.

I don't know if she heard the click or saw the flash but she turned around, put her hands on her hips and just stared at me. Box on head.

It was hysterical.

Anyway, the new aide is great. She shelved today and tagged so I got to go through and pull them. Got all the books right so I was impressed.

Not bad for her first time, though she does work at a bookstore so I guess it wasn't all that surprising.

Work flew by pretty quickly. Afterwards I headed out to see the boyfriend.

We met up at the theater to see Oblivion.

Oh my god, so weird.

So, so weird.

I was intrigued but at the same time I was totally confused. But that was kind of the point I guess.

Scale of Awesome says about 7/10.

Entertainment Weekly said "We liked Oblivion better when it called Moon and starred Sam Rockwell."

So I checked out Moon to compare and contrast.

But it's already a step up because while I don't like Tom Cruise I love Sam Rockwell.

Not only cause he's Drew's friend - Charlie's Angels, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, Everybody's Fine, etc. - but also for Seven Psychopaths, Iron Man 2, etc.

Here's the trailer for that:

holy crap, that's like dead on.

Anyway, after that we watched parts of Dark Shadows and Edward Scissorhands, I know Johnny Depp marathon, and then Napoleon Dynamite.

So it was a good day.

Am watching the Voice, only halfway through so not gonna post about that until tomorrow.

For now you're getting:

Crazy Women - LeAnn Rimes

love it.

Don't let the pigeon drive the bus.

So, today was far more successful than I thought it would be.

Seriously.

Woke up at 8, by accident.

Forgot to turn off that alarm.

So went back to sleep until 10.

Got up in time to prep for interview - gotta love phone interviews in your pajamas.

Diversity in Libraries, interviewing diverse patrons.

Last week it was diverse librarians.

So now I've talked to a librarian from Seattle and a patron from Columbia.

Missouri.

Columbia, Missouri.

Been an interesting experience so far, I'm digging it, AND I met that professor yesterday at that meeting.

Which I neglected to mention, I think.

I neglected to mention a lot, including a fabulous map drawn by the Library Goddess so I had to go back and add stuff.

I was half asleep by the time it was posted, but that's the joy of being the post-er.

You can go back and re-post.

Anyway, so yes, met the professor, interestingly enough - and I'm pretty sure she thought I was a total nut at first because she was talking and I like was walking past her and I froze.

Like froze.

And did like one of those slow motion turns so she stopped talking.

And I was like, "I recognize your voice."

And she was like, "okay?"

So I asked what classes she was teaching and Diversity was one of them and I was like "YES!" cause she records her lectures. But it's just her voice and a powerpoint, she's not in the picture.

I was quite proud of myself.

I mean, after she stopped looking at me like I was some stalker nut.

She was great, as were the rest of the crew.

It is a really cool program for them to be able to do this, huzzah for Distance Education.

Except everyone is making me go over there and walk for graduation.

They could mail me the diploma but my friends and family will have none of that.

Ugh.

Anyway, so there was that and I added the map and the Digital Beef so I think we're good about yesterday.

So, okay, yes, phone interview in the morning. Had to record it so I can write up the transcript later. Could have done that tonight but didn't want to be THAT productive, people would start to worry.

After that I ate lunch, made soup and didn't burn the apartment down, victory, then headed to work for Reader's Theater.

Okay, I'll admit, while I do direct and write half the scripts for camp, Reader's Theater is completely different so I was a little freaked.

But it turned out awesome.

Seriously, it was great.

Basically in Reader's Theater you want to focus on stories with a lot of dialogue because the actors are literally reading from the script so I had them go throughout the library and pick items they'd like to act out.

I was expecting things like The Hunger Games but actually we ended up with a couple of picture books and a spy thriller.

Don't Let the Pigeons Drive the Bus came first. It was actually really amusing - and they're rather creative - so like we made arranged chairs to make it look like a bus. And you know half of that book is a child listening and screaming "no!" at the pigeon so the passengers did a lot of screaming.

Actually our first take they just shook their heads and sat in silence.

That was funny as well.

Anyway, if you've read the book you know, but at one point the pigeon totally spazzes out and screams "Let me drive the bus!" and like throws a tantrum. Our pigeon decided that instead of throwing a tantrum she'd throw a box instead.

At me.

So I ducked and spun and kept filming, it was awesome.

And then of course the pigeon gets left in the end - oh sorry, spoiler alert - and the bus leaves so I kept the camera in place and they're all in office chairs so they all roll off in line while the pigeon looks all rejected and then names the book and says it's available in our library system.

So that was book one.

Second came something about a green sock, like Lizette's Green Sock I think, by a Catherina V-something. I could Google it but I'm too lazy. Maybe I'll upload the videos or send you a link once they're edited.

Anyway, we made green socks out of paper bags....that we colored with green markers. And then there was a pool and a squirt bottle and it had a rabbit and a cat and a mouse and a fish and a mom.

Long story short - too late - it took us like 2 tries but we got it.

Final was called The Killer or The Killing or something of the sort - it was a spy thriller so one of our boys read the back cover while the other boy rolled around on the floor avoiding the bullets that our hitwoman was spraying at him and the other girls ran across the stage holding signs that said "boom" "bang" "scream" and the sort.

Melodrama.

Reminded me of high school.

Oh god, what was that called again?

Pecos Bill and Slue-Foot Sue Meet the Dirty Dan Gang.

That's right.

I was Clever Coyote.

I got to dance on stage.

And had a secret handshake with Slue-Foot Sue.

One of my favorite plays, but the boyfriend's LEAST favorite.

He hated that thing.

Seriously hated it.

Think Oklahoma was his favorite.

He played the skeevy traveling salesman.

And he sang.

He used to be so little and short and cute.

or maybe it was Oh, What a Tangled Web that was his favorite. I was student manager for that one, it was sophomore year and my first high school play. But I knew all the words and would fill in for people during rehearsals, even being married to myself a few times.

But that was One Act.

Where was I before this tangent?

Oh right, so he was rolling all over and she was holding the cardboard in the corner and then there was signage with narration and then he went around and shot all of us and I fell over, camera in hand.

All-in-all I'd say it went rather well.

Cause they demanded we do it again.

I'm in.

Though this time it will probably involve Cod Sparkles and his library adventures.

Don't ask.

I seriously was freaked, but I was really impressed with how it all turned out.

So, now I have all the videos, will go over them and send them on to our webmaster who can post them to the library's website.

Huzzah!

After that I stayed and set up for Teen Tech Week. Which starts tomorrow.

Well, today, as it is in fact Sunday already, though this post won't say it is. 11:50 PM all the way.

Anyway, that goes through the rest of the week.

I have a feeling that that will fail miserably, but I had that feeling about today's activity as well and it turned out okay.

and Teen Tech Week made the paper.

Like the actual legitimate newspaper.

My pet project.

So maybe people will show up and participate.

After that joy I came home and did homework.

Originally was going to go to the derby but apparently it's supposed to snow so people were bailing.

It's cool, first bout of the season there will be more.

Think I'm going to the one end of March anyway, gotta love it.

Anyway, I wrote a paper and posted it, then watched Skyfall and now I'm on to Murder in Suburbia.

Gotta love British murder mystery series.

I already had Lightman's accent in my head, Ash and Scribbs are just making it worse.

"It's like graveyard jenga down here."

Flashbacks, haven't said that in a while. Gotta love Bonekickers.

Actually broke down and bought that one.

Indiana Jones meets CSI.

There's a lot of posts on here about that show. Think "graveyard jenga" actually has its own tag.

Yep, awesomeness.

And that was my day.

So on to the music.

Maroon 5's greatest hits, take 5?

So, found this video of both Misery and Give a Little More - both performed live@home...in France.

Handy.

But if you'd like to see them separately go here...

Give a Little More

Aaannd...

Misery

another one of my top 5, but you should really check out this next version too...

this guy is great, he's the one that did the Pitch Perfect Starships video, which I posted a while ago here

this is probably my third favorite version, my second of course being Glee's cover which I post after every major assignment just because I want to throw the papers up in the air like they do.

3rd and final:

Stutter

on a cruise ship.

i will never ever take one. ever. cause you're like stranded in the middle of no where and the thing's either gonna sink or tip over.

and even if it doesn't i'll be paranoid that it's going to sink or tip over at any time and that will ruin said cruise.

see, fishing boats and small stuff i can take, cause you can still see the shore. and you aren't surrounded by crazy drunken people or spastic children.

unless you're out there with my family.

kidding.

and it's not like i don't like water or swimming, it's just i've never heard a single good thing about a cruise. cause you got the Titanic, you've got the Andrea Doria whatever that ran into that other Stockholm one, and then the more recent ones that tipped over or lost power, and then at the home branch the Glee-Loving Boss was always telling horror stories how the boat was sideways cause of the wind and waves....

never ever ever.

and the mutants over at table nine.

Took a night off yesterday as I didn't have much to say.

Not that that's changed today.

Slept in - only worked 12-4 - then got to lead a comps review. Well, the Library Goddess was technically in charge as we did it over speakerphone but I had half and she had half.

Except I'm not taking comps yet so I don't have the links. But they did so we were fine. It was a good group, pretty self-sufficient so it was fun.

After that Smo came over, she has class in town tomorrow so she's staying over.

We watched some Storage Wars and 2 Broke Girls after realizing that out the 26 people that graduated half of them are already married or engaged.

But that's huge cause like 2 years ago there were only 2 of us married.

To each other.

It's amusing to look back at those yearbooks and see how much people have changed.

Thinking back I wanted to teach high school English.

Now I sort of do.

I got the Teen Advisory Board and I work in Lit so I'm calling it a win.

No, I was in the ed program but dropped it after realizing how many hoops you have to jump through to get your degree. English was good enough for me and I'm glad I dropped it cause then I wouldn't be in the library world today.

I'm excited about the library world this week. Tomorrow is my night off so hopefully I'll be able to see the boyfriend, but Wednesday and Thursday I'm touring some sweet special libraries for class. Secret passage ways, ghost stories, etc. More on that later.

With these 2 online courses there's been some interesting stuff so far as well. We're working on this "story behind a story" project where you pick something in the news and then tie it with other links you think match so like if you were focusing on Sandy Hook you could talk about gun control, grief counseling, etc.

I'm thinking of going with the whole Obama thinking football is too dangerous. We do live in the center of Husker Nation where the majority of the residents are Husker fanatics - leaving out half my colleagues of course - but I'm thinking I can include stuff about concussions side effects, maybe statistics on injuries, talk about the history of football safety standards - the evolution of helmets and padding, etc.

We have to have 5 links and create a source ourself so you may be getting a blog entry on something of the like so I can link to it.

So here's your forewarning.

Don't know, it sounds fun and that's what I was going for. It's gotta be a national/international news thing that's relevant to our patron base. And really that's all I could think of that I found legitimately interesting.

I'll keep you posted on the progress I'm sure.

Alright, on to the music.

Watching The Wedding Singer so you're getting some 80's awesomeness.

You Spin Me Right Round - Dead or Alive

rockin' the purple jacket

I love this movie. Total 10/10 on the Scale of Awesome. Adam and Drew were great.

Grow Old With You - Adam Sandler

"NO WAY!"

he's actually a really good singer, especially in this movie. think he was a wedding singer in a past life.

one of my favorite drew movies.

and love them reunited in 50 First Dates

plus i totally saw Billy Idol live at Warped Tour back in '05. He's wicked.

legitimate pre-midnight post. holy crap tag in use.

a book report on peter rabbit...

Blah.

Homework.

I know it has a purpose.

And it's useful.

Especially grad school stuff cause it's not just useless tests and random statistics I'll forget five minutes later.

But still, the fact that it's here and I have to do it and I lack the motivation to finish the website because I'd rather be doing things like spending time with my boyfriend, eating and sleeping...

Eh.

So tonight I went out there, we ordered pizza and watched Back to the Future Part 1 and half of Part 2, and tomorrow I think he is coming here, where we will probably finish Part 2 and maybe start Part 3.

Not a lot to do since I'm not home 'til 6:30 and he has to go in to work at 11 an hour away.

But it's okay cause it's not due 'til Friday so I'll have all of Thursday

unless

something should happen,

why does

this always happen?

I should

be outside playing

getting

fresh air and sunshine

i work

best under pressure

and there'll

be lots of pressure

if i

wait 'til tomorrow

i should

start writing now

but if i

start writing now

when i'm

not really rested

it could

upset my thinking

which is

not good at all.

THE NAME OF THE RABBIT WAS PETER

24-25-26-27-28-29-30 HA!

down came the staff on his head SMASH

and robin fell like a sack full of lead CRASH

the sheriff laughed and he left him for dead AH

but he was wrong.

35-36-37-38-39-40

yes.

that was all from memory.

there's more but i'll spare you and let you watch this instead.

and no that wasn't planned.

but when you listen to the song for weeks straight it gets ingrained in your head.

and sayings like "i'll have all of" bring it back in full force.

apparently even 7 years of absence can't make it go away.

feels like only yesterday that we were doing the macarena backstage to "the kite song"

it probably didn't help that i spent all night with charlie brown.

ah, flashbacks.

i'd upload the video i have of dress rehearsal but they'd all kill me.

this is me attempting a straight face.

it didn't last very long.

for more pictures go here: Christmastime is here, happiness and cheer

Alright, off to bed so that I can be semi-coherent tomorrow morning.

rhubarb and chives!!

Tuesday, September 18, 2012

"Why aren't you in the upper balcony?"

Moment of the day:

Walked into the professors office and went, "Whoa. I interviewed here."
"Is that a good thing or a bad thing?"

I'll get there in a minute.

Day like any other, woke up, went to work, updated the website, checked in a bunch of stuff cause there was no delivery yesterday. I'm starting to realize we took our old delivery guy for granted. Uh, what else? Oh did some major supplies stuff cause apparently I was way behind on that. Copied some application forms, used the guillotine chopper thing, then checked in even more stuff.

It was funny because - okay we have like a daily schedule and we have specific places to be each hour - and today it was like 2nd floor, PS2, circ workroom, Lab desk, then lunch, then I had like circ workroom, holds, off desk, and then ended at Youth Services so my afternoon was like on my own time. It was fantastic. I checked in a bunch of stuff but there were like 4 other people scheduled to be back there in the afternoon so most of my time was spent on supplies and volunteer stuff.

Trying to come up with a list of stuff to do for volunteers who can't shelve. I have a lady coming in on Tuesday and the only things I can think of that she might be interested in is cleaning displays and maybe edging shelves. Cause she'll be a long term adult volunteer and I'm guessing things like sharpening pencils and sorting colored strips will be of little interest to her.

Ideas?

So after work I headed over to one of our other branches because my professor is the branch manager there. I walk in her office and go whoa. Flashbacks. Cause that's where I interviewed to make the temp job permanent. The first interview I did, well that was with Queen of the Known Universe and Super Librarian Status in the basement of the work branch. Immediately following that was with my Glee-Loving Boss and Girlscout at the home branch. Third came with Superwoman in her office and that was for the 20 hour summer temp job. Then the library judge - as he now goes by - took some time off so I stayed 'til October and that's when they decided they needed two more people - one at the work branch and one at the branch I went to tonight - so they panel interviewed me basically in that office and I got the work branch job.

Which was my preference.

Then they panel interviewed me again - same people, different office this time it was back to Superwoman's - to make the 20 hours permanent turn into 40 hours permanent.

Anyway, I was like, "i interviewed in this office" and she was totally lost cause I don't currently work there.

She rocks. For serious.

Like, we were supposed to have class on Saturday but I couldn't make it, which was okay because originally there was no class scheduled that day and when they added a different one they said we could meet with her to make up for it if we couldn't make it. Since I had the wedding I chose to go to that and just meet with her later. The class on Saturday was supposed to go 8:30-2:30. I got off work at 6:05 tonight, got there at about 6:20, I think we were done by 7:40.

But it's all html stuff. Actually it's pretty cool, by the end of the assignment I'll be able to type this entire thing on html instead of switching back and forth between that and composition mode. Would make my life a bit easier, but I'll have to learn all the codes. Or learn to copy and paste them from the tutorial websites they gave us links to.

I remember we built our own websites in high school, but that was like sophomore year Computer Applications with Tutor Bode like 5 years ago. I remember something about typing in specific numbers for colored texts and backgrounds but for the life of me I don't remember what they were. I do remember building a sweet house with an awesome colorful dance floor, plus some flyers for a party with my fellow PEUBH Juwanna.

Cause we were the Popular Evil Ugly Bitchy Hags.

Don't ask.

It's a roommate thing.

We had a lot of those.

Alright, I'm aware that this post was a complete and utter waste of your time and I'm totally boring and about to get more boring cause the second I log off here I'm back to homework.

So watch this, it will make up for all of my boringness.

Finesse Mitchell talks about Prince

"why are ya'll up there?"
"how the hell you get down there?"
"forget all that, can you get to me in case something go on down here?!"

Watch it, you'll love it.

Shout out of the day: To you, unshaven young dude with the white t-shirt and baggy jeans running through traffic to make it to the parking garage. I know you thought the chick you passed was good looking and had to turn around to take another look but you almost got ran down by a bus so perhaps you should watch where you're going instead of leering at strangers.

And that's all I got. Have a good one.

Thursday, September 13, 2012

cause i had my tray table up and my seat back in the full upright position...

So I'm engaged.

Well, that's what I told a creepy stalker today.

Yes, Sketch, I could hear your "What?!" all the way from Illinois.

It's the newest of the stalkers that I mentioned a few posts ago. He saw the ring and asked and since I feel like he's hitting on me constantly I said I was engaged thinking he would stop but then he started talking about rings and how he got a cheap one for his ex-boyfriend.

So guess I was safe anyway.

But the fiance thing was already out there and there's no real way to take it back aside from saying, I lied cause you were creeping me out.

Tomorrow I'm heading out to a friend's dress rehearsal meaning I have to leave straight from work meaning I have to actually dress up dress up tomorrow. Though not a dress. I promised him I'd wear one for his wedding but didn't mention anything about the rehearsal. And the boyfriend is in it which is why I'm going to the dinner which should be fun. I'm stoked, I love going to friend's weddings to see who's in them and see people and dance the night away.

Took a while to pack and now that I have all these dresses that Mom keeps bringing me and Oldest Sister keeps taking me shopping for I don't know which one to wear. So I'm taking like three and I'll have Smo pick. She picked which one I wore to the last NELHS wedding. Which was more like a NELHS reunion cause both bride and groom went there.

Today was pretty uneventful aside from my own personal drama. Which was stupid in the first place. And my boyfriend is wonderful and puts up with everything.

2 people called in and then 1 more went home sick. Which doesn't bode well for the rest of us.

Finished all my homework for the week. Which was a quiz, IT in libraries paper, and community analysis aka demographic study. It didn't take as long as I thought it would and I literally did a victory dance after posting them.

Albuquerque - Weird Al
i was off by three but i still won the grand prize...

Cool video for someone that's not the performing artist. But I keep spelling the title wrong.

I remember we listened to this when we were driving through Albuquerque on our way to California.

The song lasted longer than our drive through the town.

I miss those cousin vacations. We keep saying we should go to Vegas but then get busy and it goes on the back burner. Probably won't happen until after I finish grad school and all that. Which actually isn't that far away. December of 2013 I think. Should start a countdown.

Okay, I really should crash as it's almost 1 and tomorrow will be crazy. And Saturday. Which means I should sleep when I can.

And I wouldn't be surprised if this was my last post for the next few days. Receptions tend to go late. Which is why I did all my homework early. I didn't want to have to leave early just to finish homework. Blah.

Alright, falling asleep. Off to bed.

Yes, I'm aware this turned totally lame. But the next post I'll have actual material to post about.

if you'd like to make a call, please hang up and try again. if you need help hang up and then dial your operator...

Querque!

and the towels are oh-so fluffy

yep, 1:09, definitely back-posting and then crashing.

wait a minute, I'll go check.........NO! we're out of bear claws!

Thursday, August 30, 2012

I have a big head and little arms.

Okay, I've been super crappy blogger lady lately I'm aware, so that ends now.

Before it was either not posting or posting about nothing, but now I actually have stuff to post about so we're good.

Yeah, you know it's bad when your mom texts you and asks if you're okay.

Yes.

I'm fine.

Just been busy.

Okay, where were we?

Ah yes, so Fearless Leader had her last day and the next day all hell broke loose when the mail didn't show up and the delivery truck broke down meaning today we were just swamped and had like a holds cart in the morning and then another in the afternoon.

After the madness Smo came out and stayed over last night - which is why there was not post-age so you get double tonight - ordered some burgers, watched some Warehouse 13, and pulled out the yearbooks going, "wait, who was that guy again?" Our class started as 32 and ended at like 26, but sadly the class above us lost even more people and graduated with like 13 or something. It was super small.

Speaking of the class above me, my roommate from college was in that class and she texted me this morning a quote from Grey's - actually scared the crap out of me cause usually when I get Grey's quotes they're from Sketch. I hit reply and went, wait, what? I get random ones from her every once in a while but now she is all married and pregnant and working so she's busy.

But that's okay cause I'm busy too.

Anyway, so Smo was here and we jammed out and had fun cause she's always fun. Reminisced about a bunch of high school stuff, actually realized that there's just three of us girls left that aren't engaged/married/parents out of the...eh, there were only like ten of us. But still, amusing.

Then she started making fun of Frank.

Remember Frank? Go here

He's cute. And he has a big head and little arms. Which reminded us of this:

and I found one that repeated it and we seriously watched it over and over

and then in the "related" field we ran across this one

"it's so fluffy i'm gonna die!!" and then proceeded to watch that over and over

and then again, in the "related" field came this one

so yes, they are making a second. And sort of a 1 1/2 cause there's one called Minion Madness as well.

Anyway, after some burgers and Warehouse we both konked out, then she took off this morning when I left for work.

And speaking of leaving for work - no, none of this will be in order - so you know when you wake up and you're like half asleep? Not yesterday morning, but the day before totally broke my toilet. Well, the handle. Cause you know you pull and then it's there and then you're like wait, that's not supposed to come off, but you're half asleep so you don't really understand what just happened?

So yeah, that was a fun voicemail to leave for my apartment people, basically, um, this is broken and I don't know what to do and I have to go to work so I'll check in later.

And then never did cause I got swamped.

And speaking of never did - apparently yesterday my dentist called - no, not my cellphone, they called me at work - and I was on break so they said they'd call back - and then never did, so I don't know if I'm supposed to call them or like wait for them to call me....I don't know why they called my work, they have my cell number as my main contact.

I think.

I'll call tomorrow cause I have the day off.

So much to do tomorrow, finish editing, read for homework stuff, post homework stuff, go shopping to buy more page protector things, and at some point I would like to sleep, though right now it's already 2AM - which isn't a big deal since I'm off tomorrow - but in order to sleep in you need to actually first fall asleep.

Let's see, so we got Wednesday, that was the broken toilet, hell breaks loose at work, Smo comes over - oh yeah, and it was all fixed by the time I got home. Which rocked cause that would've been awkward.

So that was Wednesday.

Thursday was today? Right.

Yes, Thursday was today. So she left this morning and I have this whole like free week of XM radio in my car cause they want me to sign up but I never do, anyway, so I didn't realize that I had forgotten my ipod - and I didn't realize how much I actually listen to music during the day cause there's lunch and there's off desk for projects and stuff so I totally had to update Pandora on my phone and listen to that instead with my backup/broken headphones that was miraculously still in my bag.

Yes, I'm aware that I'm pathetic cause I couldn't last one day without some sort of substitute for my ipod, but I don't have any music stored on my phone and then Pandora is internet radio so it kept killing my battery so I had to pull out the charger and take that with me like through lunch and then at my desk.

And I needed that to be charged cause I knew I'd need it later because I only have one charger in my car and I was using it for my GPS - Squirt had her first volleyball game tonight, she started and she rocked and they won so it was fun - anyway, but it was an away game and the high school they played is way up north and I had no idea how to get there so I tried to plug it in to Thomas my GPS but I never update Thomas so Thomas had no idea what the hell I was talking about so I ended up calling the library for directions!!

Don't you just love reference?

And I called the home branch - because for some reason I always call the home branch instead of the work branch for directions but I think that's more because when I need directions it means I'm not at work and when I'm not there it means we're closed - yes I do work too much - so I called the home branch and talked to the newest employee there who I get to work with every once in a while, she's fantastic, was talking me through it.

Totally found it and made it without driving in circles like an idiot.

So, they won 2 sets out of 3, Squirt rocked and the red hair was sweet cause they have green uniforms. Which means I should get a green shirt so I can like blend in and stuff.

After that I headed out to see the boyfriend - though the majority of the time he was working on motorcar stuff and then loading them up and all that.

I felt like the trophy girlfriend cause I couldn't do anything - my knowledge of mechanics is slightly limited - shutup Sketch - so I basically held the flashlight and made commentary. But he's very handy so he knew what he was doing. And he's smart because I'm clumsy so I'm sure I would screw something over.

But he is leaving to go on a trip with his dad until Tuesday so I knew if I didn't see him tonight it wouldn't be 'til like midweek next week, which made me realize how much I actually am in love with him because the thought of that just made me think, nope, that's too long to be apart so I'll go out there tonight and see him for like 2 hours.

So I did and it was fun and now I'm back, and after talking to Sketch for an hour did some homework and posted it though stuck on some other stuff - that isn't due 'til later - but it won't let me login to their library databases page and I know my way around our databases but theirs are different and their login thing is weird and I don't know what I'm doing so I got to send yet another dumb question email to our fantastic professor - I think that's actually the fourth email I've sent her this week and I'm supposed to know stuff cause I'm a GA but apparently I know nothing so I am sucking at that job.

Perhaps I should stop rambling and sleep.

Carter is staring at me going, do you know what time it is. Put down the computer so I can sleep. Cause he sleeps on my stomach at night. Like it's ridiculous cause he's really fat like 21 pounds of fat cat and I'm pretty sure my back looks something like this when I sleep

O--_____-----B
          ^ Carter

Yes that is a head and those are feet.

Just go with it.

Like I said, sleep, I need sleep.

No matter what the Barenaked Ladies may claim, people do need sleep or we would all go crazy. So I shall sleep now.

I mean, after these, then I'll sleep.

So, the joys of Pandora is that it's internet radio so you can like pick your genre. Today I went with '90s pop and ran into a bunch of random songs that I'd completely forgotten about, such as these:

"Torn" - Natalie Imbruglia

"Iris" - Goo Goo Dolls

THERE.

Enough for a couple of missed days and nothing posts?

A rambling mess, for sure, but hey it's something.

when everything's made to be broken i just want you to know who i am.

Dick Cheney, Vampire Slayer

Hit up "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" with the "oh wise one" aka my smart Valedictorian friend from high school.

She reminded me that the last movie we saw together was another Sci-Fi wait-what-just-happened movie way back in like 2006ish. Though you may remember it as X-Men 3: The Last Stand.

Afterwards we walked around town and talked about tennis, and we did the same tonight.

Our plan originally was to at some point get together and play tennis. I suck and the last time I remember  actually playing tennis was in grade school. And the majority of that PE class was spent running.

Cause I'd hit the ball over the fence.

Not the net, the fence surrounding the courts.

Then Schomberg was like, "go get it."

Crap.

So I'd go get it, bring it back, and hit it over the fence again.

But I blame that on the Williams sisters.

Though I don't think many people can blame bad tennis playing on the Williams sisters.

My excuse is that I feel the need to like slam the ball really hard cause you have to have that whole grunt factor thing - who doesn't watch tennis just to hear them grunt repeatedly? - but! apparently if you hit the ball too hard it will fly over the fence.

Especially if you're a grade schooler with no aim cause you never play tennis.

Where was I going with this?

Oh right, I suck, but she's good. And now I live in a apartment complex with a tennis court. And we have rackets, so we are going to attempt to play some tennis. At some point in the future.

And these courts have high fences so I think I'll be okay.

Running these streets would be obnoxious cause it's just houses and they have dogs and blah.

So I'll use that as motivation.

Anyway, so Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter - we figured if it sucked we'd sit in the back and make colored commentary. But actually it was quite entertaining.

why yes, that is johnny cash.

Scale of Awesome isn't quite sure how to rate it, but I think I'd put it around a 7/10. Ish.

I don't know, not something I'd see again, but the premise was so interesting that I had to see how they could make such a random and out there storyline work.

Though I don't quite believe that vampires fought in the Civil War.

It did have a cool historical aspect to it.

And she's smart so she's like, "Is that supposed to be Jefferson Davis?" and I laughed and then he called him Mr. Davis so I was like "heck yeah, it is!"

Flashbacks to watching election results during play practice and the creation of "John Thune Rocks My World" homemade t-shirts came to mind.

Anyway, Quotes of the night:

"You don't think he could pull it off? Dick Cheney, Vampire Slayer?"
"It'd be more like Dick Cheney, Everyone Slayer."... "I'd be more scared to be on his side."
awww, no love for friendly fire

"Mary Todd is gonna kick her ass."
the actress who played her was fantastic but it drove me crazy cause i couldn't place her. now with the help of IMDB i realize she is both Ramona Flowers from Scott Pilgrim and Lucy McClane from Live Free or Die Hard aka Mary Elizabeth Winstead which i think i also discovered about her on here a while ago, probably in this post: My Life in Closed Captions: That poster needs more exclamation marks.: "Scott, if your life had a face I'd punch it." yep that's the one.

I could place Dominic Cooper but originally couldn't think of his name. All I could think of was "Mamma Mia Boy".

The dude that played Abe - Benjamin Walker - was pretty great with the ax. Very impressive. Apparently he actually worked on that for months so it would seem authentic.

The movie itself didn't have any one-liners but there were humorous physical aspects to it. So we did add some colored commentary when those came around.

So yeah, I'd say around a 7/10 on the Scale of Awesome.

Though not quite awesome enough to make me want to read the novel.

Alright, off to bed. As fun as 4-6 was today, it's back to the regular 9-6 tomorrow so I'm gonna turn on some Wipeout and crash.

Cause I'm into remakes this week apparently

Who Are You - Brown Derbies

at first i was like, wait what is this again? then like ohhh....got it.

Study Maybe - University of Maryland School of Medicine 2015

stick with it, highly amusing but probably moreso for people in the medical profession

out!

Vader is coming. Look busy.

Or so my t-shirt says.

I like my fun shirts.

I find them humorous.

Anecdotal even.

And I sort of collect them.

And pens.

Random, I'm aware. But I'm a writer. And I use them as story references. Brands and places and all that.

It's amazing what can bring inspiration when you're in the darkest of writer's block holes.

We saw Snow White and the Huntsman tonight.

But, I can't take Kristen Stewart seriously, so I kept cracking up at all the serious stuff.

And then Squirt started cracking up. And pretty sure Oldest Sister was like, what are you doing? I'm watching a movie here.

But I couldn't help it!

"Use me as your weapon" and something about iron melting, I couldn't do it.

Though I will give it a 5/10 on the Scale of Awesome purely for Charlize Theron and Chris Hemsworth.

Cause they rock.

Though not exactly faithful to the original fairy tale. Missed the whole red-hot iron shoes dance 'til your dead thing.

I have a weird sort of thing for original fairy tales. Charles Perrault's mostly.

Anyway, it kept me intrigued so it wasn't all bad.

Though Squirt says it seemed like I cheered when she was cursed.

Is it bad to root for the even witch?

I mean, I played one in high school.

No, I wasn't an evil witch, I actually played one in high school. One Act, senior year we did "Briar Rose" I was the 13th Fairy, aka Maleficent. And I was pissed cause I got passed over for godmother.

So I got to yell lines while being completely surrounded by a human forest. And knitting a babysweater.

You know how hard it is to knit a babysweater when you don't know what you're doing and you can't look down at what you're doing cause you have to project your voice to the audience?

It ended up as a square. That wasn't really a square. Purple. With big holes. So I gave it to SuperHumann for Christmas. She was the director. I think she found it amusing.

Anyway, Snow White, it wasn't awful, though I don't think I'll watch it again.

I kept waiting for Thor to reach for his hammer, or Charlize Theron to whip out a gun and go all serial killer on them.

She did get an Oscar for that. She's got the evil thing down.

Speaking of evil things, dude. Chuck season five.

Finished it.

Hated it.

You can't end it like that?!?! Where the heck did that storyline come from? Seriously?!

That just ticks me off.

There's a reason I don't like watching the ends of my favorite series', they always go to crap. Women's Murder Club, Charmed, Gilmore Girls, Will and Grace, Cashmere Mafia, there's never been a "goes out in peace" kind of thing. I mean, they go out, in maybe what the writers think is peace, or they get cancelled and there's no peace. But there's never really peace for fans.

Especially with that one.

My boyfriend says I watch too much TV.

Maybe he's right. But really, when you work public service for 8 hours and then you come home, how else are you supposed to relax, really? I mean, I write a lot as well.

But as a late it's been nothing but camp and homework, so really, not as much TV watching.

It's only gonna get worse, I have homework assignments for both Tuesday and Thursday plus class again already on Saturday. I've got camp applications coming in by the bundle, I still gotta get in touch with Dallas about T-shirts and start lining up all that stuff.

I have some of the skits, but nothing in concrete as of yet. They're constantly changing and really aren't final until the time they're performed. I'm always getting different numbers for kids and then when they're there if they don't like it then we change stuff, it's a mess.

Plus I have two stories from a friend I'm in the middle of editing, I need to finish one and soon.

And the freakin' song book still isn't formatted and that's a major priority.

What was I saying? Oh yeah TV, I won't be watching as much in the coming month, if any at all. The homework assignments don't look too intense or awful, it's just that there's a lot of them, and no real break since it's a month straight instead of just once a month and an assignment every couple weeks.

Kinda like college again, and actually not sure how I'm going to handle taking three classes in the fall plus work 40 hours plus pull grad assistant duties.

A little nervous about that.

But it'll only be August-April. Maybe May.

I can handle that.

I think.

I hope.

Guess we'll see.

At least camp will be over with for the year. Well, it never officially ends cause there's always stuff to do, especially with the new website. Which reminds me I gotta send that dude and e-mail to talk to him about software.

AHHH!!

Gonna go nutso.

But the kickoff is over with. So that's a weight off my mind.

One day at a time. Or a week anyway.

This week the boyfriend comes back from California, yay, so seeing him is a big priority, and homework, and work-work, and some family stuff. Think I got it mapped out pretty well. And if I don't I'll make it up as I go along.

As of now I'm going to bed. At work all day tomorrow and then gotta do some massive homework so I'll be free for the rest of the week to hang out with the boyfriend. And attempt to go to my nephew's game as well. They keep dominating. First week they won 24-1, last week it was 25-0, I'm wondering about tomorrow's game.

And Squirt won all her volleyball games from the not-tournament. But I guess there's more upcoming, should be fun.

Songs of the day:

"You Got It" Roy Orbison

trippy.

"Wooly Bully" Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs

what's with the random chicks just standing there? i LOVE the voice crack at 2:01. awesome.

Tomorrow's Word of the Day: "Nimfadoro: an effeminate fellow, especially one who is well-dressed and popular with women."

should be a fun one.

though it reminds me of harry potter and tonks.

alright, out for the night.

Oh Captain, My Captain.

So I picked up "Dead Poet's Society" from the library yesterday thinking it's a classic, and hey, it's got Robin Williams in it, so it'll be hilarious!

I've come to realize that SuperHumann was right all those years ago when she said, "just because something is a classic doesn't mean it's any good." Even though she was referring to the Grapes of Wrath I think it still applies in this situation.

Not that I doubted her wisdom. I've always taken her words to heart.

Even when she's throwing markers at my head.

Though, to be fair, I did deserve it.

"What's unique about the word 'equal'?"
*absolute silence* *raise hand*
"It has a q in it."
*red marker flies past my head and hits the wall behind me*

Good thing her aim is lacking.

Or was at that moment.

That woman got me through high school and then some, which was no easy task, believe me.

Going to a dorm school when you're used to living with your parents back home isn't exactly paradise. It was more like homesick central. I mean, I'd met the other kids before at school events, but that didn't prepare me to live with them on a daily basis with no escape.

So I'd talk to her. About pretty much everything. Looking back I don't know how she put up with all my crap. But she was patient. She was kind. And she wrote me a five page letter front and back that we labeled "The Safety Net." I carried it around every day in my back pocket for years until it started to fall apart. Now it resides in my wallet and I've read through it a few times in the past few years.

Frayed around the edges it still gives me the strength to keep me on the road I'm on.

She's the reason I majored in English in the first place. So really, you can kind of blame my profession on her as well.

Well, her and the Library Goddess.

Both very strong and independent people, watching out for me. I've been lucky that way, always having someone watching out for me.

Ironically, some of those inspirational words she quoted actually came from her teacher...my uncle.

My favorite of course being:

Say One Thing
Mean Another
Write A Third
Expect A Fourth
If It's Simple, Complicate It
It It's Complicated Draw A Picture
If It's On The Test Don't Talk About It

In true Everts fashion.

And I still frequent the phrase "comments? questions? snide remarks?" at most of the meetings I lead.

So Dead Poet's Society, yes, horribly horribly depressing and not at all what I was expecting. Which sometimes is a good thing, but in this situation was not so cool.

Scale of Awesome says 4/10.

In order to sway from the depression of the moment I began to write out skits for camp while still watching. Giving it my full attention was too much.

Why is Red Foreman always Red Foreman?

Seriously, does he ever play the good guy?

Typecasting.

Which amusingly enough is yet another high school thing involving SuperHumann. In drama productions I was always the dumb girlfriend. Or the evil queen. Maybe they were trying to tell me something.

In one instance I actually had to sing something on stage - in a non-musical - and the script listed something boring so we decided to go our own way. During a sophomore World History class she pulled out a boombox and "forced" us to listen to "Istanbul" by They Might Be Giants. I say "forced" as the other kids were like, what the crap? But I was totally into it. Which led to me singing it onstage during a One Act performance whilst being photographed by my current boyfriend though he was not at the time.

I had this horrible habit of dating my fellow actors which drove SuperHumann nuts. And it made it awkward when you're playing the dumb girlfriend. Because for some reason I was never dating the one that I was paired with onstage. Like in Candid, the one where I was walking around with headphones and singing "Istanbul" I had to play my current boyfriend's girlfriend, but at the time I was dating the guy who played one of his best friends.

Awkward.

I still remember SuperHumann telling me about an interesting reaction, apparently I put my hand on my current boyfriend's leg and the boyfriend at that time shot straight up in his seat.

Woops.

Then, senior year when we did Arsenic and Old Lace I was engaged to that straight shooter on stage whilst actually dating my current boyfriend who played Jonathan's henchman, Dr. Einstein. "My how I've changed!"

See, now, if I'd been anything other than the dumb girlfriend that wouldn't have been so awkward.

But apparently they liked making me sit on the windowseat and watching me re-apply my makeup for eight pages straight.

I've got the photos to prove it.

It took two people to get me into that dress.

And running across the stage in those heels while trying not to make noise was more difficult than you'd imagine.

Especially as I was not so good in heels. Cause I didn't wear them.

Don't wear them.

I loved high school drama.

I mean, the stage kind.

The living drama I could do without.

We'd have so much fun in practice that I'd look forward to it all day.

That's the boyfriend on the far left.

Doesn't he look focused.

This dress was a bit more manageable.

And comfortable.

But for some reason I stuck with the silver heels throughout the whole thing.

Though that's probably a good thing, I was having trouble navigating that pair already, you didn't have to throw in another to make it worse.

Plus my roommate loved giving me crap about them.

That coat was massively itchy man.

The freshman playing Jonathan said it was a bit intimidating to play against a bunch of seniors.

But he pulled his weight pretty well.

Oh yeah, such a hard worker.

Actually pretty sure that was our first read-through/block-out for Arsenic and Old Lace.

I miss the good 'ole days. "Arsenic and Old Lace", "Candid", "Pecos Bill & Slue Foot Sue Meet the Dirty Dan Gang", "Briar Rose", though my all time favorite is still "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown". The boyfriend playing Charlie Brown with bleach blonde hair. That was interesting. I'll leave that picture out of the bunch, though it is on Facebook.

I probably should have joined drama in college, but really I was just looking to get out of their as fast as possible. As much as I loved high school, that was as much I hated college.

Most of the people were great, but four years seemed like a century. So glad to be out and in the real world.
Drama-central, seriously. It was like, sharing a hymnal with someone at chapel meant you were engaged and off the market. Even if you didn't know their name, people assumed you were an item and backed off.

Memories.

Speaking of.

As I'm on a roll with them, Random Quote Book entry: Let's try Freshman Year.

"What do you think of this dress?"
"Stick two candles in it and make a wish?"

"We never really had problems."
"Then why'd you break up?"
"I cheated on him...I guess that's kind of a problem."

"Any job skills?"
"I'm a snake-wrangler."

"Did you bat your eyes?"
"I batted everything that wasn't nailed down."

"Can you vacuum the rugs?"
"Can't you shake them out?"
"I'd have to pick up the house."
"Oh, you meant the carpet."

"My mind is like cheesecake, whatever cheesecake is. Fluff. I don't know, ask me later." that was my mother.

"Herod really had his undies in a bunch."
"Did he really just say that?"

"Send your parents a report card: 3 A's and a baby."

"I like him, but he's a pimp!"

"I'm sick of talking about boy problems. Remember in the beginning of the year when we never talked about boys? Let's do that again."
*silence*
"What did we used to talk about?"

Okay, overload. Music Rec and I'm out.

"Istanbul"

fantastic. remind me a bit of some guys i went to high school with.

Now SuperHumann and I sing this for karaoke.

It's highly amusing.

Woops, tomorrow's Word of the Day: "Rhathymia: the state of being cheerful, merry, and optimistic. It comes from a Greek word meaning 'to take a vacation, be idle'."

Gonna have to do a lot of that tomorrow, it is Summer Reading afterall.

While the angels sang a whiskey lullaby

Another day, another marathon of Swamp People.

Plus some HeeHaw.

But that's what happens when you don't visit the farmhouse for two months, your father has shows lined up for you to watch.

And then hits his head and winds up in the emergency room.

Quote of the night:
Mom: "Guess where I am?"
Me: "Where?"
Mom: "The hospital."
Me: "Seriously? I leave for five minutes..."

He needed stitches and apparently the doc started stitching him before the numbing took effect. I asked if he socked him in the face. After all the crap this past year with the white walls and sterylized equipment I would have been tempted to.

But he's always been a great doc to me so...

He's probably used to the after hours calls from us by now. As a kid I went over there multiple nights to get my arm put back into socket. Apparently that happened a lot, it got pulled out or something. Then he taught my brother how to do it. Sounds painful, must have blocked it out. I'm not good with that stuff, makes me cringe.

Anyway, aside from watching Liz kick some major gator butt, I took my car for an oil change at my favorite mechanic's aka the boyfriend's house. He's handy like that. It was highly entertaining.

Mom has invited him for Easter. We'll see if he is brave enough to face the crazy. Church, dinner then a massive egg hunt. I told him there would probably be a lot of card playing after, as has become tradition at family gatherings. Or maybe we'll switch it up for some Apples to Apples but that's highly doubtful.

Will have to teach him how to play, as seems to be the tradition when siblings bring in significant others. It's like a rite of passage or something.

Moving on.

What kind of hats do they wear at the North Pole?

Ice caps.

Or that's what my popsicle stick says.

Popsicle sticks, I hate popsicles sticks.

SuperHumann used to use them in high school when no one would raise their hand. They'd be numbered so whoever got pulled had to answer.

Though I remember it backfired one time during government class. She also used them to assign partners, this time she partnered me with my boyfried of the time. The look on her face was priceless. So we were loud and obnoxious and lived it up. She was not amused.

Pretty sure that came around the same class as:
SH: "What's unique about the word equal."
no one answers...raise hand
Me: "It has a q in it?"
red marker flies passed my head.

We had a lot of fun in that class. Speaking of, Jessica and I used to drive around York when dropping Smo off for PT and we came across Iowa Avenue with lots of hills and a sign that says "Dip". We told SuperHumann about the "dip"s and she replied,
"Well, there's two of them in the car."

Ouch.

So tonight when I drove passed the Iowa Avenue roadsign I had to laugh.

The joys of small town Nebraska and class with SuperHumann.

Alright, I'm out for the night. Class tomorrow means I should get some sleep, that way I can actually understand all the numbers and data entries they'll be explaining tomorrow.

"Whiskey Lullaby" Brad Paisley

well that was depressing.

"She Said Yes" Chad Brock

the boyfriend and i had a debate about the lyrics on this one. he says it "he said why" while i say "he said wow" cause it makes more sense and rhymes better.

You're my brown eyed girl.

So the wedding.

Awesome.

Oldest Sister dragged me dress shopping last week.

I got multiple. She did a victory dance.

But I'm not the girliest girl - which you have probably figured out by now - so I made Smo choose.

And the bride approved so she chose well.

Though I think my favorite moment was probably the boyfriend's facial expression when he saw me in the dress. Made me laugh.

Told him not to get used to it.

He says maybe it'll grow on me.

Highly doubtful, but a guy can dream.

The wedding was great. I told Beej I was proud she made it through without crying. She said she about lost it walking down the aisle.

I'm like, that's when you lean over and say "Dad, slow down, I need a minute!!"

As fun as the wedding was, the reception was 10 times as awesome.

And I gotta throw this out there. It was like a freakin' reunion. So many NELHS alum that one of our recruiters - the one who recruited me - made us take a group picture. We'll see where that one ends up. Highly likely it'll make its way to Facebook eventually.

Which reminds me that I need to upload my pictures...from the wedding and I still haven't put up the Alumni vs. Called Worker game pictures either. Woops.

Anyway, it's highly amusing now that everyone I went to high school with is old enough to drink. Needless to say many hijinks ensued. And most of them either won't be remembered and shouldn't be repeated so I'll leave it at that.

Though I do have to repeat this one.

The boyfriend was telling us a tale of a girl who thought that the song "Strawberry Wine" was some sort of reference to Jesus.
Smo looks over, serious as ever, and yells over the music, "But, it's about wine!!"

It was a great night. I had a lot of fun dancing, and chatting with some old high school friends - got to jam with Smo and Shel and Frizzy, yeah Sideburns!! and Sloan - I forgot how much fun these people were. There's a reason I loved high school. Even the boyfriend hit it off with some former college classmate who was randomly there.

So it was all about old friends making new memories and all that jazz.

Today, on the other hand, as much fun as it is to take over the library with a big shot of estrogen - there were 5 of us there today and we're all female - the majority us were dead on our feet. So I was glad it was relatively slow.

After work it was homework and then I finally got around to watching The Whistleblower.

Dark. And scary. And depressing. And more depressing.

But based on a true story, about a NEBRASKA cop turned peace-officer in Bosnia who uncovers a human trafficking ring. It's interesting watching the interviews with the real Kathryn Bolkovac. She literally wasn't trying to be a hero, she was just trying to do her job. It's completely fascinating but totally depressing.

Scale of Awesome says about a 7/10 I watched all the way through, couldn't leave until I knew how it ended. Not completely what I expected, but it definitely had its moments. And I mean how can you turn down Rachel Weisz and Nebraska? Really?

Alright, on the music:

"Brown Eyed Girl" Everclear

almost good as the original but it's hard to beat a classic

"What I Like About You" The Romantics

love the original and the remake by lillix. and the show. the show was fabulous.

Extra fun fact I learned today at work. The song "Over the Rainbow" by Judy Garland is considered a love song. From the 60's.

Which is ironic. Because it's neither a love song nor from the 60's.

And yet it made a 60's love songs compilation CD.

Hmmm....

"I added some garlic for pizazz!"

Okay, have you ever had one of those mornings where you wake up to someone pounding on your door, look at the clock and freak out, check your phone and see missed calls, and think oh crap I'm late for work and Superwoman sent the landlord to make sure I'm not dead?

Anyone?

Anyone?

I think I watch too many crime shows.

Fortunately, when I frantically ran to the door to assure the landlord that I'm not dead I opened the door and found my mother and Oldest Sister who had come to measure my curtains.

Then realized I didn't set an alarm cause I didn't have to go in until 4.

So I'm allowed to sleep until 12:30!! No judgments!! I was up until 4:30 the night before!!

Anyway, people are starting to think I'm dead on here as well. I'm not dead, but Sketch was here so here are some highlights from that past three? four? days:

-Ralph Nader is coming to Nebraska on Monday. I find this highly amusing, but not for political reasons. Basically in high school we took a government course and it was an election year. While everyone was making George Bush campaign posters and slogans we chose Ralph Nader and would shout "Go Green Party!" up and down the halls.

We were nerds.

Not much has changed.

But no I won't be going and shouting that up and down the halls there. I'm working cause I work and then I work some more. And some more.

-Fairly Legal Season One on DVD. I'm intrigued. It's not what I'm used to actually. She was a lawyer at her father's firm then he died and she rethought her life and became a mediator instead. Good cast of characters (including cousin Bobby from Sweet Home Alabama but I still see him as Preston from Can't Hardly Wait "Prestooooon! Yeah I like that guy!") that are semi-3 dimensional so it could turn out okay. I'll give it a 7/10 on the Scale of Awesome for now.

-Sketch coming means rest and relaxation. We're semi-lame. or I am at least. So we watch lots of movies and jam out and all that. Though it probably wasn't the best timing as I had to work all week. Totally forgot to give her the copies of the new Sketch and Edit's and if I post them on here first she will kill me.

-TAB kids fix all. I was freaked out about stuff all day, then we had our repurposing project where we took withdrawn books and turn them into crafts and I was completely relaxed. We talked about many things. One of the crafts was to make an apple out of a book like cut the edges so when you stood it up it would be an 3D apple. So I said we could make some other fruit and turn it into a hat like the Chiquita Banana Lady. And we don't joked about the Chiquita Banana Lady, she means serious business.

So then we said we should put together a vegetable one, but it would smell. I said I'd throw in some "garlic for pizazz!" to add some flair. Maybe scare some creepers off.

-When Oldest Sister is determined to take you dress shopping she will take you dress shopping. No excuses allowed. I got more than one. She did some victory dancing and cheering. Said she'd text mom.

Speaking of, dresses weren't the only thing I got tonight. Opened my mail and got a Choot 'em Lizbet!! Swamp People shirt from Mom I'm stoked!! I'd wear it tomorrow but I can't, wearing my District 12 shirt instead Hunger Games!!

-Going to Hunger Games tomorrow night. Hopefully it won't be totally packed, though I might be disappointed if it isn't. I hope it does well. And I really hope it doesn't suck.

Remember how we're nerds?

Yeah, we're all totally stoked.

-Finished my Booklist and got it published, check this: If You Like the Hunger Games

-Apparently, the requirements for becoming a Tennessee Titans Cheerleader are you must be over 18 and a high school graduate, dance experience is recommended, must be available during all games and my personal favorite you must be available to travel to Florida for annual swimsuit calendar shoot in May, June or July 2012. I love reference.

-They've started the shift at work. Basically they shelved the oversize books from the regular ones because they wouldn't fit on the shelf, so now they're changing the shelves and integrating them in with the regular size books. Which is fantastic because we don't have to lead people to two different places.

and that's that. completely random i'm aware. there are more but at the moment i'm totally blanking.

tune in tomorrow for some hunger games thoughts.

Chocolate Fixes Everything

Queen of the Known Universe is really the queen.

We had this massive update of our ILS system last night and it has some glitches. So there were a lot of frantic moments, mostly this morning.

So, when our Assistant Director comes down to check on us and asks how it’s going she says something to the effect of, “you know what would make it better? Chocolate.”

Jokingly of course.

He goes to lunch.

Comes back with bags of chocolate.

For serious.

Made my day.

I totally busted out laughing cause it was oh my god, he actually brought us chocolate!

And it helped man. We were stoked. Chocolate really does fix all.

I figured that out in high school. An old friend of mine and myself had this theory that just kept getting expanded on.

Originally it was chocolate fixes all. Then it was chocolate and Moulin Rouge fixes all. Then it was chocolate, Moulin Rouge, and apple juice fixes all. And I think it ended with chocolate, Moulin Rouge, apple juice and Carrie’s broken chair fixes all.

Yes I had a broken chair.

And it was awesome.

It was a recliner that stabbed you if you walked by too closely cause the footrest was broken.

My parents hated it cause I brought it home with me from the dorms.

Shortly after I moved out it mysteriously disappeared.

Hmmm…much like my Titans hat that I wore every day…

I’m lucky I escaped with my tearaways! Though I’m sure people are proud that I rarely wear them anymore. As I don’t really have a chance.

Didn’t we just have this conversation? I’m a workaholic? Right? Yeah, we figured that out a couple days ago.

Not that it wasn’t apparent before then.

But this whole chocolate thing is killing my good behavior for the dentist. Apparently I drink too much pop and chew too much gum. Now Mom wants to buy me a water pik, whatever that is, but it would probably be useful. Then maybe I wouldn't have to give up the pop and gum. Cause that's clearly not happening.

Tonight was fun. Had sushi and a movie with Oldest Sister and family. We watched Tower Heist - which I took the kids to see in theaters - and it had alternate endings. They were both good and should have been added, cause you could have the original and both the additions. They should have them.

Oh well, guess more people will have to watch the DVD to see them.

"If you get shot in your head, it's over. If you get shot in your face, the bullet will go through your cheek and come out the other side!"

We still died, actually Squirt and I kept going, it's almost to the best part, sh it's coming up!

Then the maid went rogue, ran into the FBI guy with the cart and said into the radio, "he was allergic to chocolate, i had to beat him" and we both died.

Best part of the whole movie, though the whole thing is good.

It's hard to have a bad movie when you have so many good actors in it. Ben Stiller, Eddie Murphy, Matthew Broderick, Casey Affleck, Gabourey Sidibe, Alan Alda, even Téa Leoni was pretty badass in it. Though the last movie I saw with her in it was Fun With Dick and Jane...which wasn't too fantastic.

Guess what?!

I get to sleep in tomorrow! So don't call me tomorrow morning! Cause I'm sleeping passed noon.

I'm still exhausted. Girlscout says maybe I have mono. I went NOOO!! Don't even say it!!!

I had that once before and it was not cool.

But I'm tired all the time. Oldest Sister says I just haven't caught up on sleep yet. Which is true, I haven't been sleeping much lately.

Tonight I will. Gonna put in some Charlie's Angels season one and crash with my big fat cat.

I'm still counting car crashes, I bet I can reach double digits by disc 4!

"Elephant Love Medley" Moulin Rouge

because everyone should have someone to scream at in a giant elephant.

What's an enigma?

Almost made it.

Got to the halfway point and it all went south.

Stupid food.

Made me sick.

First actual meal I've eaten in like 3 days. Serves me right, I'm going back to fasting man.

Mom picked me up halfway through the day and took me to the doctor.

He says it's strep.

Fantastic.

But he gave me some good drugs.

Speaking of, I will probably be out soon.

So I better make this quick.

You know when you're sitting in the doctor's office, after the nurse leaves, and you're patiently waiting for the doctor to show up?

And that's when the most random of thoughts or songs or quotes or whatever just hits you?

Is that just me?

Cause it's like that at the dentist too.

That's why I bring my ipod.

To drown out the crazy random.

Yes, the crazy random.

Go with it.

Today, I figured he wouldn't be long since it was really just us in the waiting room, so I left the ipod in my pocket.

I wasn't wrong...I mean, I wasn't right, but I wasn't wrong, but then I had to think of something to think about that wasn't going to make me nauseous. Cause there were pictures of needles and organs gross stuff that made me nauseous.

And that's the common denominator in all of my problems lately. Nausea.

So I'm thinking...hmm...what's a good and awkward song to sing in a doctor's office that you've never been to before?

No, not really.

It actually just came out of nowhere, like most of the songs that get stuck in my head do.

I got hit with this one.

"Glee Club Rehearsal"

We did "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" my junior year of high school. And this scene was probably my favorite of the whole thing. We did pretty well, but one of the nights I totally broke out laughing during this thing live onstage.

I was Peppermint Patty, my boyfriend - at the time - played Linus, haha um my current boyfriend - but was not at that time - played Charlie Brown.

Oh yeah, and then to make things more awkward since you know Patty is supposed to be secretly in love with Chuck and all that, for One Act that same year we did this play called "Candid" in which I was the girlfriend of my current boyfriend, but again at that time I was with...I'm just gonna call him Linus cause that'll make things easier.

The NEXT year, we did "Arsenic and Old Lace" in which I was engaged to Linus, but at that time, I was dating my current boyfriend.

So there was that switch.

But it really made a lot of scenes very awkward, especially those geared toward romance.

Yeah.

There were a lot of those.

Somehow I was typecast as the girlfriend.

Huh.

High school drama, eh.

Anyway, I loved every minute of that. And if I could go back I totally would. We had so much fun, even backstage dancing behind the scenes. I'm pretty sure I told you about the gum story.

We put gum into one of the Valentine's that Charlie Brown opened onstage - we always do a lot of weird stuff like throw in extra stuff on the last night - and he was like, WHAT?!

Awesome.

Yeah, found it, for more pictures and behind-the-scenes stuff go here: My Life in Closed Captions: Christmas time is here, Happiness and cheer

We had too much fun.

Glee Club Rehearsal

i really love everyone's facial expressions in this one just because they all individually make me laugh.

Arsenic and Old Lace

yes a dress - there was actually more than one dress, the other one took 2 people to get me into it - plus silver heels. you should see those things man, they killed me - i had to run across the stage in them without like making loud clacking noises or dragging my feet and sliding all over the place cause we had floor mikes. that was fun. and took coordination. which took time. cause i don't wear heels.

Okay, I'm going to go take some drugs.

That sounds really bad, but the doctor told me to, I swear!

And then I'm gonna konk out.

And wake up tomorrow to do all my homework for this weekend.

I hope you have a good weekend. If you don't hear from me I'm probably sleeping.

"The guy in stripes is not on your team."

So, grade school basketball tournament was today at my high school.

I went out there in the morning and jammed out all day watching Bubby and Squirt kick some butt. They won 2 out of 3. Bubby was a rebounding machine, and Squirt volleyball spiked the ball out of a chick's hands when she went up to shoot, it was hysterical.

No foul, it was all ball. I told Juwanna she would have been proud.

So, after all that joy came what we were all waiting for

the Called Worker vs. Alumni annual basketball game.

They used to have it every year, but for some reason it's been 9 years since the last time and they've brought it back. Our guess was that they finally have enough young and agile faculty so they have a fighting chance.

The "Called Workers" are basically - we're Lutheran, I went to a Lutheran high school, and to be a teacher at a Lutheran school you go through the whole education program, get your degree and then you get what is called a "call" to go somewhere. You can get sent all over the place.

So the "Called Workers" were basically faculty at the high school and surrounding grade schools that came to the tournament today. Lots of teachers.

vs. the Alumni, or Alum-Knights if you will.

The final score speaks for itself.

Domination.

You know what's sad about those 96 points? At least 40 of them were all from one guy. Loberger is a three-point machine. It's ridiculous, he hit at least 10. AT LEAST.

Juwanna scored 7, hit a 3 from the top of the key. That's my roommate, the star point guard. Still holds half the records on the board and we graduated in 2006.

I didn't play as I'm not the "athlete" I was or wasn't a long long time ago. I got softball, that's all I need. So I took a lot of pictures, they'll hit Facebook later this weekend.

Things I learned tonight from the surrounding crowd:

-The lady behind me doing commentary was fantastic, and even snarkier than myself. Plus she was alumni, so that rocked. She wanted to steal the buzzer. I told her she should hit it twice every time there was an airball. Like "AIR"...."BALL!!!"

She said she's throw in a "Nice"..."Pass!!" for all of the crappy ones as well.

-"The guy in stripes is not on your team." no matter how many times you try to throw the ball to him. I'm talking to you faculty.

-When a ball rolls around the rim and falls out it's called a "carnival roll". No explanation was given.

So, after the game came the celebration. Hit up the one and only bar in town.

Since I still have that whole nauseous all the time thing going for me I didn't drink a lot, which actually made for an interesting experience.

Usually when you're drinking the same amount of alcohol as the people around you you don't notice things like when you start getting louder, or start singing, or making fun of the people at the bar far too loudly.

Though they were questionable.

It was definitely a night to remember as we were joined by our high school basketball coaches. It was only right to end the night with them as we were back at our old stomping grounds.

I talked the boyfriend into joining us, and though high school was not his favorite place in life - by far - he loves me. So he came. Said I was worth it and bought me a drink.

After debating hot celebrities, talking reality TV - Swamp People and Teen Mom (which makes me laugh so hard cause they're obsessed), singing some Beastie Boys, and watching Juwanna dominate her boyfriend in an arm-wrestling competition we called it a night and headed home.

Now I'm exhausted and I work all day tomorrow.

Though I'm stoked! Far more stoked than the average sane normal person should be stoked to go in on a Saturday. But I get to work with SPACE CADET!!

Do you know how long it's been since I've worked with Space Cadet?!?!

Like September...maybe October. Ridiculous.

The only time I see her is when I'm off and stop by on my way home, as we close at 6 and they're there until 8.

So I'm stoked.

And now I'm out. Turn on some Chuck and konk out.

"Fight For Your Right" The Beastie Boys

that's a serious amount of pie.
