It's a green, it's a green, it's a green green light...

So weird hearing Beth Riesgraf call someone else Parker.

Even if she did preface it with Ranger.

Anyone else watching Killer Women?

Just got caught up.

She's the reason I DVR'd it in the first place. Though it is interesting watching Carla from Burn Notice play on Team Justice.

aka the good guys.

She was kind of a bitch on Burn Notice.

Today's a good day cause work flew by and now I'm back to editing.

One of my life's true joys. Writing, editing, the whole process. As long as it isn't homework that is.

I'm a nerd, but I'm not that big of a nerd.

I actually just took a break to eat and watch Killer Women but I'm headed back to the story after I post.

It's fun playing editor because you're a part of the story, but it's still able to shock you cause you don't know what's coming.

Nerd.

Get used to it.

The only problem with editing is that it gives me motivation to go back to my old stuff.

And then I get distracted.

Priorities.

I will finish that damn apartment story at some point or another.

go here.

The sad thing about that list that out of the 10 only Jax is finished.

And that's cause it was for an assignment.

Yes, I wrote about an assassin for an assignment.

And I passed.

Take that world.

To be fair Sketch and Edit are never ending.

And I should really send Sketch the unpublished ones cause I have lots.

Well, I guess I could change Life of a Teenage Writer, stick Kate in an apartment instead of a house and use that....

But that would be cheating.

Hmmm....

Just need to actually set aside time and work on it.

But gotta finish editing first.

So, music and I'm off.

Just cause I can and they're stuck in my head:

Bright Lights Bigger City/Magic - Treblemakers

Price Tag/Don't Forget About Me - Barden Bellas

looking forward to the sequel.

legit pre-midnight post, holy crap tag in use.

oo, apparently christina ricci is doing a lizzie borden movie on lifetime. she and jimmy kimmel are arguing if she's guilty or not. apparently his book saying she's innocent trumps her online research saying she's guilty.

way to go books.

okay last clip i promise.

hysterical. love it. new song to sing while driving.

Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Right B A Start.

"There you are."
"Just where you left me since I couldn't join in any reindeer games."

I'd let Tara Cole join in my reindeer games, she's a badass.

Yes, Leverage.

Season two.

If you still haven't checked it out DO IT!

You're missing out on life.

Yes, I skipped yesterday.

Don't worry, I'll still make my 300 posts by the end of the year.

I think.

Yeah, I'll make it.

Maybe even hit 1000 total.

Madness.

But I guess it has been 3 years.

So, weekend.

Yesterday:

"Your bun is hanging out."

I'll take "Phrases that are only appropriate in a sandwich shop" for 100, Alex.

I was lazy food-wise, went out for lunch and then ordered pizza and breadsticks for supper.

Spinach and feta cheese breadsticks to be exact.

That's right. Be jealous.

Don't really remember much else. I worked. I came home. Was exhausted. Ordered pizza. Oh, I watched some of the new Whose Line is it Anyway on the CW.

Not bad.

Not as good as the Drew Carey version, but not bad.

I really like the addition of a new sketch called Sideways Scene, it's fantastic. Let me see if I can find a clip.

Or, a group of clips, that works too.

I love the Twilight reaction from the crowd and his martial arts jump movie over Wayne. Awesome.

So that was Saturday.

Today:

It snowed. All day.

But it was lazy snow, like super slow falling in big huge chunks.

Which somehow looked lazy so I'm calling it lazy.

Thankfully it was not the packy kind of snow so I was able to unbury my car by myself.

I'm sure my brother-in-law cheered when he didn't get my panic call asking him to come over and help me out of the parking lot.

Every time it snows Superwoman gives me crap cause they don't really plow my lot, they just push it up against the back of our cars so I get stuck and then I'm late so I call my brother-in-law to help me out.

This morning I was early.

Though it didn't really matter, we were the only ones in the building for the majority of the day, aside from the people on the computer.

A coworker and I made predictions for stats. I said I'd probably have 12, but I think I finished in the high twenties so it wasn't too bad.

And I made more progress on my booklist, which is good cause it's due in February.

Then came home, played some video games and watched some more Leverage.

And when I say video games I mean a classic.

Contra.

Dominated.

With the 30 lives cheat code that is. I used to be much better, gonna have to practice so I can get back to the not cheating version.

Tomorrow I'm off - huzzah - no big plans, but I should probably do some Christmas shopping at some point.

Maybe hang up my stocking and some Christmas lights.

I love Christmas lights, but there are some people that take it to the extreme.

And by extreme I mean inflatable stuff and lights galore.

I'm more of a simple girl, decoration-wise.

But I do have lights and places to hang them so that will be my task tomorrow.

Plus play more Contra.

Sounds like a plan.

See, this is what happens when I'm done with homework forever.

I find new distractions.

Alright, Carter and I are out. Gonna watch some more Leverage and konk out.

Music:

Tall Tall Trees - Alan Jackson

another song you know but forgot you knew it.

i should work on my 12 days of xmas music tomorrow too.

hmmm...

Why aren't you seizing the boy?

You know you're a nerd when you cheer cause it's Thursday.

You know, Thursday?

The day when the place across the street has their specials?

Yes I go there every day and yes they know me by name.

Today was hamburgers.

I ate mine on the way to a TAM meeting.

TAM = Thursday Afternoon Meeting

Redundant since we call it a TAM Meeting, but a meeting nonetheless.

With all the Youth Services staff.

We picked our favorites for upcoming Caldecott.

Yep. Libraries full of nerds, get used to it.

That was the highlight of today.

Tomorrow I get to spend my day in chairs.

Dentist and Hair Dresser.

You can track my life by the color of my hair, I've lost count of how many colors I've gone through.

There was red, blonde, purple, orange, blue streaks, black and brown. I'm sure I'm forgetting a few.

It was amusing because right after I started dating the boyfriend - this time - I told him I was going to get my hair dyed and he goes, "not red, right?"

As in fire engine red which I had for both high school and college.

Can you tell we've dated before?

No, not red.

Nor will it be tomorrow. Though it would be awesome. Superwoman said she'd give me points for that, but I'm guessing now with the Master's it would be frowned upon.

I'm supposed to be all professional and all that.

Tie my shoes.

Match my socks.

Now I do neither, guess that'll have to change next week when I get the diploma.

Or maybe I'll be a rebel and continue to do neither.

Sounds like a plan.

Music:

Yes I'm back on Leverage.

Season Two.

You're missing out on life if you've skipped this show, for serious.

Go to your library. Check out season one. Watch it. Then tell me I'm wrong.

I'm gonna crash. I hate dentists, need actual sleep so I don't freak out in the chair.

I have a history.

Luckily, I have Sketch and Edit to reenact those things for me.

Sketch and Edit Sit in a Waiting Room

And just cause I can.

On repeat.

Just one of those things that gets sweeter with time.

For once I was nothing but productive on a day off.

Usually when I clean my apartment it's because I'm avoiding homework.

Now I have no homework to avoid so I had to force myself into it.

But I was up.

Since 8AM.

On a day off.

I know.

Sucked.

But I guess it was worth it.

Met up with my sisters for lunch, shopped a bit in the afternoon, then cleaned the rest of the day.

Literally, the rest of the day.

Mopped, dusted, vacuumed, scrubbed, all that.

I think I've mopped like 3 times since I've moved in.

Don't give me that look, it's not like there's a lot to mop.

And I keep it clean.

But today was extreme, even changed out my shower curtain.

Think I'm good for a while.

Tomorrow it's back to work so I should crash.

Exhausted.

I know, I'm boring. I'm sorry. But it was a very big day for me.

Here, have some more Useless Information.

-The original pack of Skittles doesn't contain the color blue so you CAN'T taste the rainbow.

-The letters on M&M candies stand for Mars and Murrie, the developers of the candy in 1941.

-The designer of the Statue of Liberty - Frederic-Auguste Bartholdi - used his wife as the model for the body and his mother as the model for the face.

-The 57 on Heinz ketchup bottles stands for the varieties of pickle the company once made.

-A group of whales is called a Pod.

-Kermit the Frog is left-handed.

-The word "nerd" was first coined by Dr. Seuss in "If I Ran the Zoo"

Gonna look into that one tomorrow at work.

On to the music. Song you know but forgot you knew it.

Dust on the Bottle - David Lee Murphy

classic country.

Watching Leverage's Nebraska episode. Nice attempt at our accent. It's amusing. Sophie hates chicken fried steak. Parker wears a Nebraska hat and eats corndogs. Hardison gets mobbed.

"Ladies, for the last time I am not the tailback for the Cornhuskers. I don't even know what a Cornhusker is."

"I can't hack a hick."

Even if he were a High Tech Redneck?

Just another day lost in the city of angels.

Alright, My Day in 5 Words - ready go:

1. Holiday
2. Invites
3. Target
4. Coworkers
5. Leverage

1. You would think that after being closed for two days there would be some sort of mad rush today, but it really wasn't all that bad. Just a few carts for bookdrop and a bunch of people on computers. Though it did give me a ton of computer stats. That weren't just basic questions either, it was explain this database and show me how to work it type of questions. Which was okay cause it made the day go by rather quickly. Sort of.

2. So people are loving that my invites are pink. Cause I'm not a pink person. Technically it's just the envelope that's pink. And the inside of the card. And a little on the outside. Whatever. You can blame that on Second Sister who claims not to have realized that they were pink. Sure. I totally believe you.

3. So Mom called all panicked this morning about getting these iPad mini things for Xmas. I don't know, they were on sale so at lunch I jumped in the car, drove across town, went straight to electronics and picked them up. The sales dude was awesome. "$299? I thought these were $599..." These are usually things you should know when working in electronics. Though I was especially amused cause he was having trouble with the scanner and I mentioned something about them being a pain. "You must work in retail." "Sort of." Jumped back in car. Picked up lunch. Ate in the car. Made it back with 5 minutes to spare.

4. I finally heard back from Fearless Leader - and then of course once I brought her up I got hounded for details, but the same thing happens when conversation turns to Slim Shady. Anyway, I was gonna invite her - the both of them actually - to the grad party but they will both be out of town. Bummer man. I miss our Booze Cakes. Go here. Will have to reschedule with the both of them.

5. And then of course instead of working on homework after work - my last assignment ever - I decided to turn on some Leverage and have yet to turn it off. Made it through half of season one. "Alice made a friend." I got time. Isn't due 'til Friday and it's half done anyway.

I'm in celebration mode man. No work tomorrow. Just church, cleaning my apartment, xmas shopping, and possibly going out to see the boyfriend which was the original for tonight but he's busy. So, back to Leverage for me, here's some music for you.

Something Old:

Call Me When You're Sober - Evanescence

i miss these guys. this was probably my favorite by them...they need a new album.

Something New:

Just Another Day - Caitlin Crosby

hadn't heard of her before this one, but she's quite good. and an actress too apparently.

Something Borrowed:

Olympus Has Fallen

currently checked out - aka borrowed - from the library

Something Blue:

Boy With The Blues - Oasis

love this one. these guys need a new album too. but they would first have to re-band after the big fight and all that.

Put the bunny back in the box.

Define irony. Bunch of idiots dancing on a plane to a song made famous by a band that died in a plane crash.

Watched Con Air tonight with the boyfriend.

Scale of Awesome puts it at 7/10. I'd never seen it before but it was wildly entertaining. Especially the cast. Huge amount of big names in that one.

Granted at that time they probably weren't as big of stars as they are today.

Before the movie was practicum, before that was work. I think. I don't remember it which is both good and bad.

Good cause that means nothing bad happened, bad because it means nothing good happened either.

Don't remember much of yesterday either, I spent the majority of it sleeping on the couch cause I felt like crap.

But tomorrow will be fun. Have the day off and the only thing on my schedule is a Mental Health Awareness Walk at the practicum site with Mom. And hopefully I'll see my boyfriend at some point.

Yes, I'm aware I'm boring tonight but I'm distracted by Leverage. Got the final season and started it tonight. Even though I've seen them all I still don't remember everything.

Clip of the Day:

Huzzah amusingness.

Tonight was ridiculous with storms. Even after the boyfriend left for work I stuck around his place until they cleared off. Thinking about getting a garage. Would probably be helpful in snow season anyway.

"Don't tell the elf." "Not a word."

Sickness Day One:

- Woke up with a fever, headache, was exhausted and sore.

- Laid on the couch freezing and overheating attempting to sleep and watching Lord of the Rings movies 1, 2, and 3. Which I didn't realize was an all day affair until I attempted it.

Sickness Day Two:

- Already had the day off, had plans all of them cancelled.

- Woke up with a fever, headache, was exhausted and sore started coughing again.

- Laid around on the couch attempting to sleep and watching an all-day marathon of NCIS.

Sickness Day Three:

- Woke up with a fever, no voice, exhaustion and frustration!

- Laid around on the couch attempting to sleep and do homework. Caught up on Leverage.

I'm going stir crazy so I'm going in tomorrow. My fever is gone and I can stay in this apartment no longer.

Do you know how hard it is to sleep not only when you're freezing one minute and then overheated the next but with a 22 POUND CAT SLEEPING ON YOUR STOMACH?!

Normally this is cute and fine and a nightly occurrence but I was freezing so I'd put on more blankets, and then I'd be hot so I'd attempt to throw them off but you can't when there's a 22 POUND CAT SLEEPING ON YOUR STOMACH!

Cause he's cute and fluffy, but he gets mad when you wake him up from his nap. And he naps A LOT! But then, when I finally fall asleep he decides he wants to get up which means he wants me to get up.

I know this cause if I don't he'll jump on me and walk around on my stomach and stare at me.

Or lay across the room and glare at me until I get up and play with him.

He's smart though cause he bites normally but not when I'm sick which is super weird. It's like he knows. Though the fact that I laid around in the fetal position for like 3 days isn't exactly subtle.

Livin' on popsicles and flavored water, ah the good life.

No, I'm fine, it's fine, we're fine, the boyfriend's almost fine as is the rest of the family.

See there are two strains going around in our family there's the stomach flu that my Mom had plus Oldest Sister and Squirt and my brother. And then there's the Influenza that me and the boyfriend had.

And apparently that lasts for like a week so I'm cutting it short and going to work tomorrow. Cause it's all mental. Only reason I keep staying home is cause of the fever, otherwise I probably would have sucked it up and went in.

I'm like my dad like that. I don't really take sick days.

Anyway, tomorrow it is. But I did get some homework done today. Finished the IT paper that's due tomorrow at 10 AM - huzzah - next up is the paper due Sunday - cause I already finished the one due Saturday. And then the one that's due next Saturday is after that.

And then I'm done for the semester!!

But then January will come and I will once again be overrun by assignments. Which is fine. Cause next December I will be done done.

As in done eternally.

As in no way am I going for a doctorate.

I already feel crazy enough for going back voluntarily, I ain't doing it again. Power to the ones crazy/brave enough for it.

Alright, off to sleep now. Work tomorrow then the weekend off. 9 hours, I can power through 9 hours. I'll be fine. It's all mental.

i'm sorry but tracy morgan is the best part of this skit every time they do it.

He's cute but he's fat.

here with you, here with me.

Damnit, Hardison!

Finally caught up on Leverage. Finished the fourth season whilst working on camp stuff.

That's called multi-tasking.

Now I'm on to Wipeout so I can sleep.

Gotta say, I miss Jill but really don't mind this Lachey chick so much. Though I did totally miss that he got remarried.

Not that I was big into 98 degrees. More about the Spice Girls and NSync.

Today seemed to fly by, that's probably cause I got to sleep in and didn't go in until noon. Woohoo!

Was a quiet day, not sure if it was caused by the Batman movie tragedy or the weather. Either totally suck.

I haven't checked on it for a while, did he explain why he did it?

Other than the fact that he's the Joker?

The role only belongs to one man and he's already dead.

Stuff like that is awful. I just don't understand it.

My cat keeps biting me.

I know that that problem is small potatoes compared to what else is going on in the world but it's still obnoxious.

The water bottle did work for a while but now he's not phased.

It's annoying.

Excited for the shortened day tomorrow, mostly cause I get to take pictures of the Food Drive sculptures. Cause I'm nerdy like that. Will probably upload some if possible.

After that it'll be more camp stuff.

I know this post is total crap, I'm sure I'll have plenty of quotes tomorrow.

I'm on it.

Just for you.

Here, have some more useless information:

-X's on letters originated as crosses back in the 1000's. When lords would sign their names they would kiss the cross after signing to signify they were faithful to god and their king. Over time it slanted to x's.

-Each deck of cards represents a major pillar or economy in the Middle Ages: Heart is church, Spades is military, Clubs agriculture and Diamonds merchants.

-Most of American car horns honk in the key of F.

-Most toilets flush in E flat.

-It is estimated that millions of trees are accidentally planted by squirrels who bury acorns and forget where they buried them.

-There are three other versions under the current Mona Lisa.

-There is such thing as coffee-flavored PEZ.

-Honey is the only food that won't spoil.

-According to US laws a beer commercial can never show a person actually drinking a beer.

I'm doubtful about that last one, but come to think of it I don't remember anyone drinking one during a 30 second segment.

Will have to look into that.

And here's some fun quotes from Rocket Power just cause I can

-"that should be on the to-don't list."
-"you're like a sixth finger. it just gets in the way and it's kinda freakish."
-"i pulled a bobby brady, dude!"

could have sworn this one was titled "these are the moments" but maybe that's just cause it was our prom theme.

or cause she repeats it a lot.

yes, prom theme.

the one the boyfriend took me to senior year.

drove the tbird as it's his favorite.

i like the vette, but me and my then boyfriend drove it the year before so had to switch it up.

he lived in fear of my mother driving his car back to his house.

he's kind of a car nut.

but that's okay, i like my boys geeky.

Speaking of geeks I should crash while I can. Big day tomorrow.

Tuesday, July 17, 2012

Roller coasters, Holy Roller, I got shot down in Southern California.

Okay, so I went to Bubby's game to get out of my head.

And then they lost.

So now I'm back in my head.

And I usually don't do this on here.

Like ever.

But I guess there's a first time for everything.

So here goes.

I'm freaked out.

Constantly.

But I don't say it.

Cause it's just weak, and then people all think that I'm a kid and I can't handle stuff.

So I've become good at faking like everything is fine.

Cause who wants to put up with whiney Meredith Grey every day, really?

But everything is fine.

Right now.

It's the fall that's making me freak out.

Here's the thing, end of August means I'll be taking three classes with mass amounts of projects due in all of them. One of which is online so that means I will constantly be adding to discussion groups and forums and all that crap.

August also means that I will be Grad Assistant for the Library Goddess. So I'll be doing a bunch of newsletters, and meeting people and going to conferences, etc. And I'm supposed to do the Grad Assistant thing Fall Semester and Spring Semester meaning August-May.

Also in August I'll be dealing with the post-camp process aka making sure everything gets back to where it needs to be stored, sending out thank you letters, combining all the pictures that were taken on to one massive CD, burning copies and sending them to the all the kids.

Post-camp will be cake, that'll just take a couple weeks and we can do that before school starts. However, pre-camp never officially ends until we're actually at camp. Then it starts up again immediately after to plan for next year.

Then there's work. I work 40 hours a week at the library and don't plan on that ending anytime soon. I finally got used to it there and feel like I'm in the right place.

And I have a boyfriend. Who works nights. And he probably will for a while so we're working around that.

So here is my freak out moment.

That's a lot of stuff.

Working 9-6 every day doesn't exactly leave time for a lot of other stuff.

Something's gonna have to give.

It ain't gonna be the boyfriend, cause I'm in love with him and he is my priority.

And if people don't like that then they're gonna have to get over themselves cause it's my life and that's how I feel.

I'm also not giving up Camp J.

I know that that may be the logical choice, but seriously, camp gets me through the day. I look forward to that, I don't care if the planning for it flips my life upside down, it's worth it. It makes me happy. It's the biggest thing I look forward to every year. And I'm a lifer so it's gonna stay that way for a long long time.

Work is important to me. Pretty sure I've proven that on a regular basis. I like my job, I like my coworkers - the thought that Fearless Leader is leaving us for Kansas makes me cry inside - but I don't plan on leaving anytime soon.

And I'm paying my own way through Grad School so that shows that it is important to me as well.

So, since I can't give up any of those things it's just gonna be sleep that doesn't happen.

Which is fine, I've done that before.

But the problem is when I don't get enough sleep I get all messed up, similar to my mindstate at the moment.

Though I'm guessing that is true for most people.

A few months ago I talked to a former Grad Assistant and she said she slept maybe 4-5 hours a night. But I thought that was because she had a family and a life and all that. She said I could handle it for a semester. I told her I was doing it for two and she told me good luck.

I don't know what to do in this situation.

I'm sure it will be fine.

And even if it's not fine, I'll make it fine. Or seem fine. Or be fine. Cause that's what I do best.

I'm probably just freaking out over nothing.

Like I said I'm in my head and right now everything is just overwhelming and blah.

All I know is that I'm gonna get through the rest of this week, go in for 2 hours on Saturday, take pictures of the sculptures, send them to the judges, head out to G-Town for the camp meeting and literally just go home to the farmhouse after and stay for the rest of the weekend.

I think I just need to get away from here for a day.

And I really want to see my boyfriend at some point as I probably won't get to during the week.

When Vegas comes in November I'm gonna be ready for it.

I'm probably just overreacting to everything.

I'm sure it will be fine and I'll have a lot of support along the way.

So, now to distract myself from the madness that is me I'm going to watch something that I like and konk out along the way.

Like Leverage season four.

Just got it tonight as it came out today.

But first, fun and exciting music to distract me from the innerworkings of my twisted mind.

Random combination I'm aware.

"Good Time" Leroy

"and now that you're living on the hill i hope that you're social life doesn't get you killed, no!"

oh my god this version is fantastic, almost as good as original recording.

give him a shot. seriously.

i wanna learn how to play guitar like that.

"Hail Holy Queen" Sister Act

so funny to see her now as Kate's sister on NCIS.

Okay, other good stuff. Um?

Finished last night's episode of the Closer. *spoiler alert*

It's not looking good for Gabriel, I'm beginning to think Sensei is right about him being the mole.

Cause he's not in the previews for the spinoff and everyone else is - minus Brenda and that's cause Kyra wanted out, hence the need for a spinoff.

I'm guessing she dies in a shootout with Stroh in the finale. Cause Fritz is in the spinoff and she's not.

And why wouldn't he go with her is she was transferred somewhere else?

I know that would be horribly horribly depressing, but from the previews and the interviews that I've watched they're making it out to be this huge tragic ending.

Should make for an interesting couple of episodes. This week's was pretty funny, I enjoyed that. It's always Flynn and Provensa that screw up. They make me laugh.

Alright, out for the night.

Friday, June 29, 2012

Oh, sometimes I get a good feeling, yeah.

Pics of the week:

BEFORE: 9 carts

So we have these hours where we're scheduled in the "circ workroom" in which we check-in all the bookdrop and delivery items. This is what I walked into the other day.

Hour later: 0.5 carts

I left half a cart plus the new books cart for big brother as I didn't want to leave him with nothing.

But the new books cart takes forever cause you gotta change the status plus put them all out. So that could take an hour in itself, depending on how overloaded it is. And it was.

Oh the joys of the backroom.

My clean clothes.

Like three weeks worth of them.

In my gigantor closet.

My mother would be so proud of my organizational skills.

I'll get to it eventually.

I think I'm turning into a girl cause I'm running out of space.

Though to be fair a big portion of that is fun t-shirts.

And a random TV.

That works.

But I have a different one so now it just sits there.

I should probably do something with that as well.

So, today was good. Made a lot of progress on Food Drive stuff which is helpful as I'm off this weekend and it's supposed to start on Sunday. Basically, the plan is, put out the barrels, and hopefully the branches will have picked their volunteers to build the sculptures out of the items donated.

And if not they'll get assigned and just have to live with it for three weeks.

Fearless Leader and the New Girl volunteered at the work branch. They are both very artistic so I'm stoked. Boss's Boss's Boss is awarding the prizes this year, one for most creative, other for most items donated.

I have two judges so far, the Food Bank director and an artist. Still working on the third.

I'm hoping people get into it. If not it's just going to suck.

But we'll see I guess.

Last year there was a mass amount of food donated since we opened it up to the public. This year with all the hype about it perhaps it will gain even more.

Alright, need to sleep like immediately. Driving the Library Goddess to class tomorrow, meaning I have to be across town by 7AM. Meaning I'm up at 6AM cause I don't know where I'm going. I mean, I have the address but getting there might take a while.

And I'll need to be conscious. And you know, coherent. And perhaps communicable. Which doesn't happen often before 8AM. At camp perhaps, but that's cause there are children everywhere and I'm supposed to be in charge.

So I'm out for the night which means I need to switch from Dark Shadows to something I've seen and therefore won't need to stay up to see what happens.

Silence bugs me, no idea why. Even doing homework I have headphones in.

In honor of Leverage's soon to be released season four on DVD:

"Good Feeling"

love it.

Last class tomorrow, then I'm off for the weekend. Go see the boyfriend and buy some fireworks. Awesomeness.

i get a good feeling, yeah.

20 pounds of crazy in a five pound bag.

"Haircuts, Parker, count the haircuts."

What a day man, what a day.

Church this morning with Squirt's graduation. She got her diploma and all that so we went out for sushi after.

Quote of the day:

Squirt: "There aren't a lot of cute Lutheran boys so when you find one you have to jump on him."
Bubby to his mother: "Is that why you married a Catholic?"

After that it was open house at Camp J.

Oh my god.

There are no words.

Seriously, I'm still processing.

We are no longer roughing it in the woods, the new building is huge, and air conditioned, there's a huge kitchen with state of the art stuff, lots of space for crafts, we're thinking about doing skit and worship in there as well...the only thing that people aren't going to like so much is that they blocked off our road that goes all the way around camp. So the kids who are on the other side of camp have to basically carry/drag their stuff all the way over there instead of just being able to drive to the cabin and drop it off.

But they'll live.

I'm stoked.

Gonna take off that Thursday around 2, come home and pack, then head out.

Though technically half of my camp stuff is still in my car.

So, ha!

There's a reason it's still in there.

I took lots and lots of pictures...and then my camera died...so I took lots and lots of pictures on my phone...

Thinking of buying a new camera before camp.

Though there's a lot of things on my list of things to do before camp.

Aka, get my hair dyed and chopped, finish this freakin' songbook, process all application forms and send return letters, come up with a schedule, order t-shirts, find volunteers, assign volunteers to cabins, assign kids to cabins, figure out what to do with the plethora of teen helpers, clean out the trailer, what else, oh yeah, write about 18 skits. No big deal.

So I'm distracting myself with Leverage.

"Age of the geek, baby."

Even though I have lots and lots of other crap checked out, somehow I always get distracted with my own.

I love this show, I hope they keep it going. Great con show, you always wonder how they pull these things off, I'm not that clever...at stealing stuff apparently.

Anyway, double checking my schedule was a good idea as it means I get to sleep in tomorrow and I'm off early, but I'll probably spend that time shopping for summer reading kickoff supplies so it won't really be time off.

So, I'm out for the night.

After this.

Tomorrow's Word of the Day: "Wabbit" a Scottish word meaning 'exhausted or slightly unwell,' as in 'I'm feeling a bit wabbit.' Its origin is uncertain.

And these.

High Five - Calibretto 13

Okay, now I'm going to bed.

Thursday, January 12, 2012

I just want to make you happy, So come and grab me, And love me madly

Pretty sure Carter thinks I'm super lame.

Mostly because I don't have to work tomorrow until 1PM yet I'm still debating on going to bed before 10PM.

When did I turn into this person?

Midnight used to be early for me.

And that was back when I had class every morning.

Now if I see the clock turn 12, or anywhere near it, if I'm even able to stay awake that long, I'm like crap I gotta go to bed or I'll hate myself in the morning!

You know those mornings where you wake up and you're like, crap. Why didn't I go to bed sooner.

Like those "holy crap where is my coffee" kind of mornings?

Yes I realize I used the words "like" and "crap" three times in three sentences.

But I'm about 80 percent already asleep. Or is it asleep already?

Already asleep?

Asleep already?

This is me posting on autopilot.

If I start talking about evil pigs or losing hamsters don't even attempt to translate it.

I won't be able to in the morning and it's my head these random thoughts are springing from.

Did that make sense?

It sounded like it did in my head.

So I've been watching a lot of NCIS:LA. As you've probably noticed, I've mentioned it once or twice. I'm not so deep into it like I was with Chuck or Leverage, but it's a good enough show to have on in the background when you're supposed to be doing other things, you know like homework or writing.

And every once in a while when you look up it's usually worth it.

Though it'll never top its originator.

I like the buddy dynamic between Callen and Sam. Their banter is quite humorous.

Kensi is a badass, Hetty is hilarious, I had completely forgotten about Nate the psychologist until I got season one, but Deeks is still my favorite.

Although sometimes I want to punch him.

But that's how you know it's a good actor.

Like Rachel Berry.

She's a fantastic singer.

But as a person, you kind of always want to punch her.

The actress is so good she makes you hate her. Then love her again when she sings.

I'm assuming she's still the star on Glee, I haven't watched a single episode this season.

I've also fallen behind on Bones - shocker I know! This was my favorite show for like ever. And The Closer - still at midpoint of the season. Big Bang Theory I'm still on last season and that's only because I bought the DVD. If I hadn't I'd still be on the season before that. I love that show. Criminal Minds I read up on online. Warehouse is out on break until July. Grey's I haven't watched regularly since college so like 2 seasons ago.

The only real shows I keep up with are Castle, 2 Broke Girls, and NCIS the original.

And technically I don't really even watch them when they're on live, just DVR'd.

Cause I work.

A lot.

Or I'm gone.

Or distracted.

Or writing.

Or writing and distracted.

Like now.

Agent Jordan Todd from Criminal Minds is currently Detective Jess Traynor on NCIS:LA. Took me 10 minutes to figure out how I knew her and by that time she was already dead.

I feel like somebody should come up with a list.

Of locations and agencies.

Like LAPD is Deeks.

But it's also Brenda Lee Johnson from The Closer.

NYPD is Kate Beckett in Castle but it's also Olivia Benson from SVU.

The FBI is always obnoxious in these shows, but you've still got Agent Booth from Bones and the whole BAU from Criminal Minds.

Trent Kort is a completely obnoxious CIA agent from NCIS but then you've got two "CIA Agent Walker"s aka Annie from Covert Affairs and Sarah from Chuck who are completely anti-Kort.

Though John Casey is the only NSA Agent I'm coming up with.

Then you just got anti-everything with the Leverage gang.

I watch too many crime shows.

But someone should still make a list.

Cause there's even more crime shows that I don't watch.

So there's gotta be more crossover.

Yes I'm a nerd, but in my defense there were no paper towels.

Sorry, that was my Mom's excuse for leaving unmarked luggage in an airport bathroom.

In my actual defense I'm half asleep, I'll be lucky if the above references are actually correct. I'll verify them tomorrow. As for now I'm out.

Plain White T's Week: Day Five

"Our Song"

this is probably my favorite, right up there with Body Parts or Broken Record.
give it a minute you'll like it too.

"1234"

cheesy but it works. like the video. "she hates country music."

Today was good.

I think.

Aside from it being freezing and the majority of our staff is either sick or getting back from being sick.

Went to lunch with Slim Shady and Fearless Leader.

We're thinking more Booze Cakes, this time with some Parks and Rec.

Love the library episode.

Fantastic.

I'm out.

Look, I even made it past 10, huzzah!

"Why are there stuffed animals in the bathtub?"

Weirder questions have been asked during our family gatherings.

And, today, that was on the low scale on a weird-phrase-o-meter.

See, Second Sister just realized that she has a talk to text function on her cellphone, like mine. So we had a lot of fun saying stuff and seeing what it translated as then sending it back and forth while playing pinochle.

There were a lot of good ones.

"My brother is a lubener"
turned into
"My brother is a big blue banner."

"I bought a troll, I bought a troll for you."

became
"I'm bothered troll I'm not a trophy for you."

"How do you like the spatula?"

translated as
"How do you like hell?"

to which I replied
"It's purple and pretty."
but it thought I said
"Parboiling."

What the crap is parboiling?

We had to google that one.

"Ariel pajamas" became "I am the gym"
"Luke-a-Boogie the San Francisco Treat"
became "Love you do g San Francisco tea"
"Brave the cream cheese, brave the cream cheese"
became "Brava cream cheese brain cream cheese."

Though my favorite was when Second Sister said, "My husband is a stud."and the phone thought she said, "My husband is a big fat ass in here."to be fair, there were people talking in the background for that one.

and my new phrase wasn't even technology-related. Second Sister passed the table and said, "oh peanutbutter balls" like negative, like a put down or something. i like it. i'm going to say it randomly.

Okay, so I had this Xmas list going, that I kept forgetting to post. Since today was our Christmas I'll give it to you now.

Things I want from Santa

1. Endless supply of Diet Dr. Pepper
- target did have a supply of 24 packs, i was SHOCKED! hope they keep that up
2. A litter box that cleans itself - keep dreaming
3. Leverage DVD's - GOT THEM! currently watching Elliot kick some butt.
4. A wireless printer/scanner - Woohoo! Gold!
5. Thor on DVD - sister-in-law rocked that one
6. Fun t-shirts - got a few, stoked, but probably shouldn't wear these ones to work, even with a shirt over the top.

and now I can move directly onto the

New Years Resolution List

1. Be more health-conscious
- doesn't everyone say that? like workout more? eat healthier? it's cliche, but in a good way. and it needs to start now.
2. Write more - this actually i can do, since i'm deep into the whole apartment story thing mentioned here: My Life in Closed Captions: Troll the ancient yuletide, Carol!
3. Continue getting my degree - see, right now it's cake just taking one class but in the fall i'm gonna get wooped taking three at once plus working 40 hours.

and that's all I got. keeping it short. if there's less of them then there's less chance i'll give up on them.

and that's another thing, if you totally fail on like the first day, does that mean you have to keep it up for the rest of the year?

As for New Years Eve, hung out with one half of P Squared. We hit up a comedy show - "I have the IQ of a cheese sandwich!" "Dropped the whom-bomb on me" - it was fantastic, possibly a new tradition, then played some SSX Tricky and fell asleep watching Hot in Cleveland. cause who doesn't love Betty White?

Music Rec: Aaannd you thought we were done! HA!

one last entry in the Christmas Music that Doesn't Suck category

"Another Christmas Song" Stephen Colbert

i like it, really this is like the second original christmas song i've run into. everything else is just a remake of something from the past.

Sleeping in, prime rib, Apples to Apples, presents, pinochle, family, frivolity = Awesome Christmas.

Leverage, My cat the chair thief, Crocodile vs Lawnmower, and more SYKBFYKT

I love Leverage!

Halfway through season three and I can't stop. Stoked they're on the fourth season on TV. Will have to find those online.

I was completely productive today.

So productive, in fact, that when I took the time to actually look at the clock I realized, "holy crap it's 5:30". I had to literally stop being so productive and sit at a desk, physically stop working so much. Or I would have continued another project and left it half-finished. And I can start that tomorrow. Or next week.

That's how I know I have a great job, I look at the clock and I can say "holy cow it's already" *insert number here* It doesn't drag on to the point where I would say, "Aw man, it's only" *insert number here* Big difference between that "already" and "only".

I gotta space these things out. What if I do everything now and then I won't have anything to do later? That was my fear as an Aide. If I shelve everything right away, then the rest of the day I'm screwed!

I'm kind of excited about a new display, I did one in the YA section on books to movie and tv shows. Wish there was more space, but I do what I can.

Gave Superwoman some Angry Birds. Apparently they were a big hit. I got some as Xmas presents for some of the tiny children as well. You squeeze them and they make noises. Though I'm tempted to build obstacles and throw them at it like the game, just to see if they can knock things over and kill the pigs.

But I'd need a pig.

And some wood planks.

A few glass panels.

It'd be like Ultimate Angry Birds. Sounds like a good thing to film and put up on youtube.

Which reminds me, I still need to throw out that tree and film the process.

Freakin' Christmas tree. The new one rocks. Super easy.

Time to throw out the old one and burn it.

It will bring good news of great joy which will be for all the people.

Sorry. Christmas program.

Christmas isn't over yet!! Family party 3 days and counting. Woohoo!

Though it still doesn't feel like Christmas, where is the snow? This feels like Spring or something. It was nice all day today. It's messing with my head.

Mom showed up today at the library. Scared the crap out of me. Apparently my cat likes her new furniture and steals her spot when she leaves the room.

Which, you get used to, eventually.

See, you can be sitting on the couch.

And he could be sitting right next to you.

Then you get up, leave the room, come back and he'll be sitting where you were sitting.

I don't know if it's like warmer there or something, I'm guessing he's just playing mindgames with you. See what you do next.

But beware, he will bite you if you try to move him.

But I have strategy. Cause I will just lay next to him.

And he'll get tired of it, jump off the couch and find a new spot.

HA! Victory!

Then I reclaim my old spot, he'll sit on the floor and glare at me cause I've figured him out.

Guess he gets the mindgames from me.

Alright, on to the rec's then I'm out.

Full day tomorrow then more fun at the farmhouse. Woohoo!

Remind me to pack controllers. As much fun as Road Rage was on DDR mats, it's a lot easier with actual controllers.

Songs You Know But Forget You Know Them aka SYKBFYKT continued
this may just become a recurring theme, but i did think of these today.

"New Soul" Yael Naim

i know you know this one cause it was on every ipod/ipad commercial for like a year

"A-Punk" Vampire Weekend

pretty sure i've posted this one already, i just remember them singing it on SNL, his guitar strings and giant scarf drove me nuts.
you probably know it from the hp printer commercials

check this out

australians...
i think the mower's dead.
i like that it's named elvis.

I'll buy you tall tall trees and all the waters in the seas

So this is what a day off feels like?

Spent it sleeping in until noon,

Watched some Leverage,

Went grocery shopping,

Put off the stuff I said I was going to do today but I'll do Monday instead.

Just paperwork mostly. and some phone stuff.

But I got my pop so I'm good for a week or so.

Made tenative plans for New Years with the same old gang.

Next up, more Leverage.

Aaannd, since there's nothing really else that happened today I'll leave you with these and get back to my big fat cat to watch some Leverage.

T-Recs.

HA!

Didn't do that on purpose, but I like it.

Take Your Mama - Scissor Sisters

scissor sisters are fantastic but relatively unknown. even though a lot of their songs are played on TV shows in the background and all that.

Tall Tall Trees - Alan Jackson

IS THAT MONICA POTTER? dude. didn't know that. head over heels is one of my favorites, hysterical. She's a regular girl who moves in with a bunch of models and they witness a murder, it's just really funny. and Freddie Prince Junior is in it.

Try - John Mayer

just give it at least 30 seconds. you'll get hooked, the guitar is fantastic.

Tortured, Tangled Hearts - Dixie Chicks live

one of my bands of all time playing one of my favorites. they're fantastic live.

Well if you gots the poison I've gots the remedy

Dear Blogspot,

Today I was totally productive.

Even more so than usual.

As I’m a big girl now, that apparently comes with responsibilities. Some of these have not yet been announced or I would be freaking out about them on here…although if you saw who I was shadowing and meeting with today then you probably already know. And it’s not like big big stuff. Okay, well some of it is. But it’ll be enough to keep me busy and freaked out for the next few years. Might take a while to adjust, but maybe it’s about time for a changeup.

Even though I’m still in changeup mode, switching from 20 to 40. Well, 35 to 40. With 38 at the work library and only 2 at the home library. I’m hoping the 2 hours there will continue on, but now that they have their new staff who knows what will happen.

Okay, aside from meetings and shadowing and then meeting with supervisors to talk about other stuff I also signed up for a parking spot, woohoo!

Then came home, made supper, did a bunch of computer stuff and watched some more Leverage. Still waiting on season two so I’m stalling until it gets there. Starting season three without watching it is feasible, but I’d rather watch it in order.

And that was today.

Tomorrow should be fun.

Staff meeting in the morning where hopefully all the changes will be announced and explained.

With the stuff that’s being handed out I’m shocked the supervisors weren’t losing their minds with all that they had to handle. Granted they got paid the big…well, bigger bucks, to do it. But still, that’s a lot of stuff.

Then I get yet another meeting with supervisors from different branches about a thing that I’m being put in charge of.

Again, I’ll explain more tomorrow. And prepare to get nervous and freaked out ramblings, I excel at those.

Okay, what else? Oh yeah.

Squirt now has a blog. And it’s gonna smash both mine and her mother’s down like the hand of god. She’s funny stuff. You should check out her “The End of Barbie and Ken” story, it’s highly amusing.

Alright, there were a lot of R-Recs to go through, so after a thorough weeding process (aka which ones don’t suck and which ones haven’t I posted within the last few months) I’ve come up with these ones.

Enjoy.

Red Wine, Mistakes, Mythology – Jack Johnson

The title made me laugh so I bought it. It’s actually pretty good, but most of his music is. I post a lot of it, probably one of my most posted artists, although Michelle Branch is climbing that ladder pretty quickly.

Remedy (I Won’t Worry) - Jason Mraz

him live makes me laugh.
It’s one of those songs that you know but you forgot you knew it. You know? I found a few of those when I put mine on shuffle. More Michelle Branch stuff included. I’ll find more of those after this whole alphabet thing is over. Plus the 12 Days of Xmas. There’s so many freakin’ Christmas Songs out there, I’ll have to post at least 12 of those. I’m just stoked for Day 12.

Or is it Day 1? Do you count down or up?

Rockafeller Skank – Fatboy Slim

This one is an excellent dance song. It’s actually on Dance Dance Revolution, the 3rd one I think. I don’t remember, I own a lot of them. I’ll have to remember to take them to the farm for the 1st. P Squared and me usually rally and do some of those, along with some SSX Tricky and lots of sparkling cider.

And apparently it’s well known as well. I posted a lyric from it as a blog title and it got more hits than most of my others.

Run Joey Run - David Geddes

cheesefest.
I hated when Glee covered this song. No idea why. I mean, they did a great rendition, I think it was just the video that went along with it. Rachel and her dramatics. But it was cool to have all three guys picking up on different verses.
Alright, that’s all for tonight. Big day tomorrow.

PS - Check out Priscilla Ahn’s CD “A Good Day” it’s delightful, a lot of upbeat music, not as many fillers as I’d thought there would be.

And Adele’s “21” I’m loving “I’ll Be Waiting”. Excellent jam out session.

and yes I'm going to post it. I'm allowed to, it's my blog.

"I'll Be Waiting" Adele

she's fantastic, live and radio.
words cannot express how awesome this song is.

Run Joey Run Joey Run Joey Run Joey Run Joey Run Joey Run!!!

Midnight, and I'm a-waiting on the twelve-oh-five

11-8

Tired.

Slept in but I'm just ready to go to bed.

I was kind of like that all day. This whole 40 hours thing is like a kick in the butt. I need some tang or something. I have green tea in my car. A whole pack of them actually, and it's funny because they've frozen and about froze my hand off this morning carrying one to work. It's cool, it's like a green tea slushie. Awesome.

Tomorrow should be interesting cause we have tech stuff in the morning and I have 2 meetings during the day about big kid stuff.

Cause I'm apparently one of those now.

Today I'm still Dirt. Tomorrow not so much. But we'll see where that goes. I'll explain more later.

So, I'm watching Leverage. Yes, again.

Third time for season one.

I did get season three today, and I'm debating on starting it, but I'll be missing a whole season. And who knows what happened in that finale. I don't want to kill it.

So I'll give it a couple more days.

I have other stuff to watch anyway.

Sparticus.

Fringe.

Crossing Jordan.

other random DVR'd stuff.

But once I'm stuck on one it's hard to move on. It's like Chuck all over again.

I'm on the last disc again.

12-Step Program. They're in a rehab. Why can't he just get sober! I guess that's part of the drama thing. Although in second season it's apparently supposed to happen. We'll see about that.

Really? The alarms go off when you open the windows, but not shoot open the electronic lock? That's a bummer.

"How did you break him?" *hears music over phone* "Nate, you took him out for tacos?!"

Alphabet Rec's

Okay, so my options were a bit limited on this one. X and Z should be interesting as well.

So, here's what I got.

Que Sera Sera - Doris Day

i listen to a lot of doris day, especially around christmas. but i blame all that on my aunt. she got me hooked on Calamity Jane. it was all downhill from there. or uphill. cause doris day is awesome. and that was her favorite movie to film.

Queen of Hearts - Juice Newton

she's pretty good live.

Oh, Body of Proof was new tonight. Maybe I'll watch that. Or the Closer. I need to have a marathon of that soon, now that it's back for a while. Especially since it's going to be done done soon. yes, done done. I'm sad. But there's a spinoff. So I guess it'll be okay. But not okay okay, cause Kyra will be gone. I'm wondering who will replace her. Hmm...Captain Raydor would be interesting...

Also, yes the cowboy boot pictures are up on Facebook, along with the 4th of july parade ones and 2G golfing of awesomeness. Perhaps I will post some on here...

Softly pleading for silence in a shattered world

Long day.

I hate icy roads.

I'm starting to hate snow.

Which sucks.

Cause three days ago I loved it.

And looked forward to it.

And last year was fine driving on it!

Jarvis rocked it.

This year just bites.

But the day flew by pretty quickly, which is common now that things are finally in a set rhythm. I love my home branch but it is easier to just be at one place all day. I will miss the slow mornings though, gave me a chance to wake up. Not so much here.

But tomorrow I get to visit for a couple hours. Huzzah!

Other than that went to church tonight since I worked Sunday and got to jam with my old high soprano buddy Beej. We rocked it. I was a junior and she was a senior. Did our duets and all that.

Anyway, it's good timing, because that leads me directly into tonight's rec's.

and the alphabet says...

Prayer of the Children - Concordia Choir

the dancers are freaking me out.
okay, ignoring them.
We sang this song Junior year, end of the year concert. It was our last concert with the Seniors that year for KRT aka Knights of the Round Table - mascot was the knights and we were the select choir. We all cried. Guys included. and Kitzworld the director. It was her first year as our director. It was sad to see us disbanded. Even if most of us were reunited the next year as Senior with new Juniors.

i miss choir. but i'm out of practice. should work on that. the only real practice i get anymore is camp. and that's singing nonstop for a week. my voice is toast the week after.

alright, moving on.
let's switch it up a little.

Paralyzer - Finger Eleven

love the random dancing spy people.

now we'll switch it back.

sort of.

Pilot of the Airwaves - Charlie Dore

charlie aka charlene. love the 80s. or i guess this was '79. with 80s clothing. it says country festival. is this country? i thought it was pop.

and switch it back to the original switch.

sort of.

Phantom of the Opera Song - Me First and the Gimme Gimmes

love the remake. makes me smile. i love all their remakes, they do a lot of classics and change them up.

So that was pretty much my day. That and watching 2 Broke Girls and Castle, duuuude. Castle. Creep factor. I screamed on more than one occasion. So did Castle. and Beckett. Dude. Had to switch on a comedy after just to get that old lady's face out of my head. and I thought Castle was a comedy. It's getting pretty dark and scary at points now. Last episode was just an emotional mess, I'm interested to see where it goes.

Tomorrow I get to sleep in. Sort of. Then work all day, so I'm out. Get back to Leverage. I'm hooked. Even though I've seen this whole season. I'm watching it again. Well, again again. This will be the third time. Second season better come in soon or I'm gonna go all Mummy and Mummy Returns on you and start spouting the lines start to finish.

OUT!

Sunday, December 4, 2011

They love to tell you stay inside the lines, but somethings better on the other side.

I forgot to post last night.

Literally just forgot.

Geez.

To be fair, I was distracted...I'm hooked on Leverage. I finished season one from the library and now put a hold on seasons two and three, and I'm hoping they'll get here soon.

Kind of a cliffhanger. But I know what happens. Sort of. Cause they're still, you know, functioning three seasons later.

It's a good show. Quite humorous. Sophie's accents amuse me. Although they make me want to speak like that, and it's messing with my head.

Things from today and tomorrow. I hate driving on ice. Two days ago it wouldn't have been a problem. From yesterday and today, it's been ridiculous.

8 things in the ditch on the way back from class. One semi. The rest were SUV's. Which is actually hysterical since people pay so much more for their traction and all that. No cars. Hmm...

Then there was today, and just ugh.

I used to love snow. Sledding on the farm behind a 4 wheeler and all that.

Now not so much.

At least class and Grams thing today was fun.

Last class of the semester so I'm done until January.

Final Quotes:

Professor: "Don't be looking at your crackberry in a meeting."

Classmate: "This is a sandwich that it's not nice to be in."

Classmate about prof's office: "It's cold in there."
Professor: "I do that so people don't stay."

Professor about my name: "I remembered cause I thought of the blood on your head."
Me: "See, Stephen King, minus the pigs blood. It works."

Me about NLA: "I was just stoked to be surrounded by fellow nerds." and I was. they had presenters come in to talk to us about joining and asked about our experiences of going for the first time. green bags and nametags. pretty sure the people without them thought we were in some kind of cult. i laughed.

Classmate: "APA. I'm not a fan."
Professor: "Nobody is."

Classmate: "B-hag. It's a big hairy ambition goal."

Freaking Shackleton. I can tie everything to him now.

Then today we went to Grams for a Holiday tea thing. Santa was there. Joked around with our table for a while.

Santa sans suit: "Santa says you don't like spinach so you're gonna get it for lunch on Monday."
Grams: "He's gonna get it back in his face!"

and my aunt from the other side of the family came along, she's always hilarious. We were talking old family stories and some other goofy things.

"She left with the truck and Tommy still misses...the truck."
"She was the winner in that situation."
"She deserved the truck."
"And a load to go with it."

Funny stuff. I'm gonna focus on that today. The rest was kind of crappy.

So I'll watch Leverage again from the start. Only 4 discs so it didn't last very long. I'm hoping the next couple seasons have more. The special features are pretty detailed so that's cool.

Alright. So yesterday would have been N. Right? Which makes today O as well.

Let's see what I got.

N-Recs
Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye - Steam

which just reminds me of this:

Remember the Titans

people are all about ryan gosling being some underrated heartthrob, but this is what i associate him with. number 48. nice dance moves.

which led me to this:

one of the best scenes. love it. sunshine...
yeah. twelve sounds better.

No Such Thing - Josh Mayer

one of my favorites from high school

O-Recs

Oh Carol - Neil Sedaka

another high school inside joke. but i like it cause it makes me laugh.

You are the queen, but I'm, I'm just little.

Watching Leverage. It's fantastic. I knew I'd like it, I'd just put it off because I had too many shows going already.

So I got season one from the library. And of course it came in the same time as about 5 other movies and two other series. But isn't that how it works. You put popular things on hold over the past five months and they all show up at once.

It is really good. I'm impressed.

I'd give the pilot a 9/10 on the Scale of Awesome. I totally fell for it. Plus it had Artie in it. Which was fantastic as well. aka Saul Rubinek. Artie Nielsen from Warehouse 13.

The basic plotline is that they're a group of thieves with one honest man - played by Timothy Hutton - who's their leader. Originally all of the characters usually work by themselves, but they're all hired in the pilot to steal back this guy's airplane designs that were stolen from him. So the honest guy agrees to do it. The thieves are just in it for the money. After that they find out they work so well as a team that they group up and basically steal things back for people.

There's a lot of good stunts, major spy stuff - a lot mission impossible hanging upside down - and really funny comedy.

So you've got Timothy Hutton aka Nathan Ford, who's the honest man and leader. Timothy Hutton was in Secret Window, The General's Daughter, and plays Archie Goodwin in all those Nero Wolfe mysteries, but I like him because he played F. Scott Fitzgerald in the tv movie Zelda. Zelda as in Zelda Fitzgerald, not as in the animated character.
Aldis Hodge aka Azi on that voodoo ritual episode of Castle plays the tech genius Hardison. He brings in most of the comic relief.
Beth Riesgraf plays the stealthy and tomboy Parker - she's the one who scales the building and does all the hanging-from-a-rope-upside-down work. She guest starred in NCIS last year as Max Destruction in the episode where Gibbs shoots the crazy computer system that tries to hack the Pentagon.
Gina Bellman plays Sophie Devereaux, the pretty actress who lures all the men into falling for their traps. Gina's a New Zealander so her accent is actually accurate, which is new and exciting.
Christian Kane plays the tough one, who beats up multiple bad guys in seconds but hates guns. Christian was on Angel with David Boreanaz but I like him because he played the younger version of Hub on Secondhand Lions, you know the one who was good with swords and rescued the princess and all that. Love that movie.

Anyway, I'm only a couple episodes in but I'm digging it.

Unfortunately I'll need to crash soon. And fill out that plan of study form. If I can find it on the website. Which I keep forgetting to do.

Last class tomorrow. Which means I don't have to wake up at 6:30 on a Saturday for a while now, woohoo! Next semester has class on Sunday afternoons, huzzah!

Where am I at? Yesterday was L cause I remember Leave the Pieces so that makes today M. Check that, I know my alphabet. But I'm guessing that's something you want in a librarian. Shocker.

M-Recs. Okay, so far I've got

Mama Song - Keaton Simons

no it's not carrie underwood. this one came out first. If I could play guitar like that I would. all the time. nonstop. incredible. plus he's a goofball.

Meet in the Middle - Diamond Rio

another rewrite, this time it's family. i'm not sure who started it, although i'm pretty sure it was my brother in law. he does most of our rewrites aka turning "Then I saw her face, now I'm a believer" into "Then I saw her face, now I'm gonna leave her." yeah, try singing that was a straight face.

anyway, so the refrain that they sing goes like this:

I'd start walking your way,
You'd start walking mine.
We'd meet in the middle
'Neath that old georgia pine.
We'd gain a lot of ground
Cause we'd both give a little.
Ain't no road too long
When you meet in the middle.

but our version goes like this:

I start walking your way,
You sit on the couch.
We meet in the middle
Because I'm such a grouch.
We gain a lot of ground,
Cause we both eat a little.
You are the queen,
But I'm, I'm just little.

except when Second Sister sang it she sings

You start walking my way,
I sit on the couch.
We meet in the middle
Because you're such a grouch
We gain a lot of ground,
Cause we both eat a little.
I am the queen,
But you, you're just little.

and point at me. thanks for that btw.

Mi Vida Loca - Pam Tillis

anybody else remember this one?
random video, but i'll take it.
used to love this one as a kid.
welcome to my crazy life.

Minnie the Moocher - Cab Calloway

a karaoke classic. and we have a friend named heidie. so they always sing it to her, it's hysterical.
check out those moves, man. He's got the moves like jagger. (oh my goodness, my niece says that all the time. and she's two. it's ridiculously cute.)

Move - The Dreamettes (Dreamgirls)

love it cause you not only get Jennifer Hudson and Beyonce but also Anika Noni Rose who's a broadway great but also stars as the awkward secretary in the No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency (which stars Jill Scott another great musician)

Alright, find form, then back to Leverage, then sleep.

PS - what the heck happened in town today? i've heard nothing but sirens all day!
