singing my life with his words...

Well now I officially feel old.

But still inspired.

Today marked my two year employment with the library.

Originally I was at one, then two, now back to one but it's the other one, if that makes sense.

I started as an Aide at the home branch exactly two years ago today, so it was a happy coincidence that I got to spend all day there today with my former bosses, one scheduled (Glee-Loving Boss) and one that stopped by (Sensei).

Took me back a bit, I still remember my first big assignment on the new job. Three hole punching the bottoms of plastic library bags because that way if a kid puts one over their head they'll still be able to breathe.

It was some sort of legal issue I guess.

I can still picture the look on Glee-Loving Boss's face when he said and I quote, "I know this is ridiculous but..." So I spent the majority of the day in the backroom poking holes into bags and more of the same the next day, except it was me and the other aide - the kid who's no longer a kid - and this time we put bookmarks in the bags.

So you know, if they decided to put it over their head they'd at least be able to look at something pretty whilst still being able to breathe because there are holes for that.

After that it was sorting carts, well items on carts, cause if you put them in the right order on the cart you can put them on the right order on the shelf.

And even if you couldn't do that they all had orange tags in them so they'd be easy to find on the shelves when the boss made the rounds.

But I got to find my purpose in life in the process and meet some pretty great people along the way.

So I brought cookies for the backroom. Half of them are gone by now, and with Space Cadet and her carb addiction who knows if there will be any left by the morning. HA!

I know this post should be doubly long as I skipped out last night.

To be fair I konked out at like 10, and this is even after the boyfriend came to visit.

I was zonked, for serious.

But today I was actually awake and coherent the whole day.

Which was good because at around 4:30 all hell broke loose.

No seriously, we went from 5 people to around 60 all needing help at once. It was ridiculously busy and Glee-Loving Boss and myself envisioned our recovery shift getting there at 6 and them seeing us flee the building for the sake of sanity.

But we stuck it out. We're tough like that. Besides it all calmed down by the time they got there and I got to tell Space Cadet all about life at its current state, aka meeting the parentals, Vegas... apparently the fact that I have a boyfriend and the fact that he's still around is widely appealing.

I shall have to tell him that later.

Unless of course he reads this, then I'm telling him now.

So if you're reading this, congratulations, people like you and are glad you're still around.

If not then I'm talking to myself, which really wouldn't be a shock factor.

Scale of Awesome time.

So I watched We Bought A Zoo.

Simply fantastic.

Real heart-warmer and all that, but it was comedic and real and just a really good root for the underdogs kind of story.

Basically his wife dies and everything around the house and around town reminds him of her so when his son is expelled they go house shopping and find this house that's perfect, only catch is that it's a zoo. And by buying the land he is also buying the zoo. So he decides to reinstate it to its former glory and all that with a lot of bumps along the road.

I'm gonna give it about a 9/10, and I highly recommend it. Matt Damon is great, showing he can do comedy, drama and action - not action in this but you know you've got Bourne and all that.

Speaking of Bourne, am I the only one looking forward to the new Bourne movie? I love Jeremy Renner.

I know he's not Jason Bourne! But that's the point!! He's a different agent entirely, stop freaking out! They'll bring Matt Damon back when he's ready to do another movie. Geez crazies.

Sorry, where was I? Oh right, Scarlett Johansson is quickly rising in the Scale of Awesome meter of you know awesomeness and she's like serious zookeeper woman in this who has no outside life cause she's always there. And then you've got Thomas Haden Church as the protective accountant brother, a bunch of crazy staff members, plus the two kids who couldn't be more different from each other and it's all based on a true story! With a book to go with it!

And the line in the trailer about him having more hair than the other dads is a joke since the actual Benjamin Mee is in fact bald.

I love his line about 20 seconds of insane courage, great life motto.

So go watch it. Rent it, buy it, check it out, whatever, just do it cause it's fantastic.

I'm excited, I get to semi-sleep in tomorrow. Sort of. I start late cause I'm off late, helping out with a middle school visit that isn't actually a school visit, it sounds a bit like a school carnival or end of the year event thing, so we're going to promote library stuff I guess. I've never done one before so I guess I'll find out.

But I've got the awesomeness that is Girlscout with me so she'll get me through it. Plus I think the intern is going which is cool as she's in the same masters program I'm in. Seems pretty cool so far so it should be fun.

Things on my to-do-list:

Yes the ever-growing and never disappearing to-do-list.

-Finish editing friends stories, making that a priority as it took me like 5 months to get through one and that's awful. Usually it's more like 2 weeks but apparently library life keeps me pretty busy.

-Format Camp J songbook, how long has that been on the list that I've been putting off? Seriously? Just do it woman, the stuff is already uploaded all you have to do is space out the notes to match the lyrics.

-Buy 200 juice boxes. Okay that one's a little more complicated, but it's for the kickoff, and I also need to buy more candycorn while I'm at it. Also for the kickoff, don't ask I'm sure I'll ramble plenty about it when it comes around. Target man, Target. Screw HyVee I tried that already. Go here: Sharkey walks the plank

-Come up with Camp J application form that one I also have a deadline for since the meeting is on Saturday afternoon. I'm stoked! We're thinking of driving out to camp to check out the new digs. They built a new cafeteria/craft building with storm shelters and air conditioning. Now everyone's gonna wanna work in the kitchen and that never happens.

I'm sure there's more but I'm totally blanking.

I should sleep, as exciting as sleeping in sounds you have to actually fall asleep for it to take place.

"Yesterday" Adam Levine and Tony Lucca

love it.

"Killing Me Softly" Katrina Parker

he picked tony anyway, but i thought katrina was great, really grew on me throughout the competition.

but i'm all for the underdogs.

No Coast, No Mercy.

Yes I skipped yesterday.

And the day before that.

But it wasn't my fault.

I've tried posting this three times now, let's hope this time it works.

Have I mentioned how much I hate this new blogger?

Okay, so flashback to Friday:

Early morning, seminars all day, derby at night, then some crazy old lady convinced me and my boyfriend that we needed to go out after the derby.
But we had fun so it was okay.
Besides, I got her back anyway, check Facebook. I'm assuming she's not grateful that a picture of her sleeping on Easter has surfaced especially after she told me I'd be dead meat if it did.
Bring it, I've got more.
So, inservice.
Basically, all the employees from all the branches meet up at the main library and listen to speeches the whole day.
This year was not so bad, at least the sessions were interesting. Last year everything was aimed toward the new operating system we were about to switch over to so it got old fast. This year I got to learn about future technology aka 3D printers, and glasses that give you directions, take pictures, play music, etc. Plus some genealogy from Sensei my former boss, and  listen to a panel from the Journal Star about reviewing books.
Plus there were a couple major guest speakers, one of them being Mary Pipher who wrote “Reviving Ophelia” once upon a time. She told us a story about being on the Oprah show, apparently the producers told her what her opinions were supposed to be, ignoring her actual beliefs on the subject for dramatic purposes. But she’s stubborn so she ignored them and answered truthfully. She was immediately escorted out of the building after the show and into the limo. No goodbye, though there was no hello either, she didn’t meet Oprah until she was actually on stage being interviewed. So Oprah must be a great actress, it always seems like she knows/gets along with her guests very well.
Anyway, inservice is actually kind of a blast at times, mostly cause I get to see all my friends from the home branch and jam with them. Our new tradition is to head out to this Mexican restaurant during the lunch break, awesomeness.
Though some people still say they’d rather get an colonoscopy than go to inservice. But it’s not that bad, think of it as a nerd convention. All of us together packed into one room talking about library stuff, quoting literature and cheesy library-related jokes.
Plus some funny speakers that lead to a few good one-liners.

Things overheard at Inservice:
-“and now I have time to talk about my cats”
-“anyone want to sing a medley of show tunes?”
-“somebody give me a g”
-“now let’s take some time to talk about why you’re wearing what you’re wearing.”
-“the new paint job - orange meets green meets purple which wouldn’t be possible without the help of our decorator” *insert picture of Stevie Wonder*
After 9 hours of that came the roller derby.

Mad Maxines dominated Springfield 165-97.

Flash Gloria hip-checked the other team's jammer into the scorekeeper's easel and took it down!

Oldest Sister was jealous as I take her kids all the time but she’s never been so she tagged along with me and the boyfriend. I’m turning into a pro at explaining the rules, or I better be as I've taught …at least like 8 people, but that doesn’t include the giant group of my former teachers that all came together a couple years ago.
Definitely worth it.
But then of course people realize how big of a derby nerd I am, quoting their actual names and occupations whilst listing stats and strategies along the way.
Oh well, it’s not like they don’t already think I’m a nerd anyway.
Especially since yesterday I checked out the Spice Girls greatest hits CD.
Yes they have one and it’s awesome.
Though I already own all the songs cause I have their previous albums, well all except the last few.
Like I said, nerd.

BossLady and I were bonding over the Spice Girls, apparently there’s a great band called the Space Curls that sing their songs in German.
It’s highly enjoyable.

Which just reminds me of this time in college, freshman year I lived with an awesome friend of mine from high school and I just remember I turned this next video on Youtube and we were moving her gigantic futon, like giant heavy obnoxious futon, and it gets to the first language she drops her side completely and bends over laughing. Cause she had no idea, just thinking it was the regular version.
Fantastic.
"Girlfriend" Avril Lavigne in 8 languages

My favorite are probably Portuguese and Chinese, though German does have its charm.

So Saturday:

Aside from Spice Girls flashbacks I worked 9-6, watched "Beginners" and "Page Eight" meanwhile uploading all my photos to Facebook. You can probably tell I was watching "Beginners" when I uploaded them as my captions were very much like lines in the movie.
If you haven't seen it you should, it's great.

Anyway, photos.

After months of meaning to do it and getting distracted.

Much like all the other stuff on my to-do-list.

At the moment it consists of formatting that camp song book, which I started uploading in January, coming up with a camp application form before the meeting next week, buying my niece a kick butt confirmation present - I was thinking roller skates, we decided at the roller derby she would rock it. Just gotta come up with a kick butt name. I'm still working on mine, have some possibilities but nothing solid. Or as cool as one of my cousins, another one of my cousins came up with it, his name is Jake so basing it on Jake Gyllenhaal his name would be Jake Gyllen-haul-your-ass-around-the-track go grocery shopping for summer reading stuff, but I get to do that on the clock, what else....meet up with the Library Goddess and her current GA for GA stuff, oh and fill out the official paperwork for that to happen in the first place, and then there's camp

Camp.

And all the planning that goes along with it.

Enough said.

Sunday:

Worked all day with some cool people, uploaded some volunteer stats, narrowed down more stuff for my next booklist, currently I'm jamming out with my big fat cat watching Scooby Doo: Mystery Incorporated

It's them as teens living in Crystal Cove, teenage drama included, and hysterical.
"The last time you were that polite to me I spent a month locked in my bedroom listening to 'Now That's What I Call Break-up Songs 16'!"

"We've got something from every food group. salty, sugary, jerky and ice cream!"

"What's up with Freddy?"
"Oh, he's just in the zone. It'll pass. If not we'll spray him with the hose."

Highly enjoyable continuation of a classic, I'm diggin' it. This show never gets old.

Time for some Scale of Awesome Ratings:

"Beginners" Ewan McGregor, Christopher Plummer, Melanie Laurent
The story jumps back and forth between the present and multiple pasts. After his wife dies Plummer's character Hal comes out of the closet. Which is strange as he's been married to a women for decades, but she died so now he wants to live his life the way he actually wants to live it. He meets a guy, Luca from ER which totally threw me off, they fall in love, then Hal gets cancer and starts dying meanwhile Ewan, aka Oliver the main character and Hal's son, is narrating this whole thing whilst living his own life and being horribly horribly depressed because the majority of his scenes take place in the present after his father is dead.

I've probably lost you, sorry, he dies, Oliver is sad, he adopts Hal's dog and meets a girl who turns his life upside down.

Anyway, the monotone narration and random images that pop up on the screen were probably the best part as they were completely random and as I was watching I was also tagging pictures and writing captions so the captions I was writing came out as monotone narration in my head.

Scale of Awesome says around 6/10, I was entertained, I love Ewan McGregor, Christopher Plummer definitely deserved the Oscar, but it was horribly horribly depressing. Even when it wasn't.

"Page Eight" Bill Nighy, Rachel Weisz, Ralph Fiennes
Basically Bill Nighy's character Johnny is given a secret file by his boss/best friend exposing a huge secret. Then his best friend dies, not mysteriously it was legitimate, and suddenly people are out to get Johnny because of the information that's been uncovered. Though he wasn't the only one who received the file apparently he's the only one being watched, along the way he meets his neighbor Rachel Weisz's character Nancy who's brother was murdered overseas.

I got lost. I checked it out cause it has Rachel Weisz on it and it was about secret agents and it sounded interesting, but it wasn't so much. I mean, there were moments, like many other movies, it did have its moments.

To be fair I was doing about 8 other things at the time so, much like Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, I probably would have liked it better if I were paying more attention.

Scale of Awesome says 4/10. If it was better it would have held my attention instead of transferring it onto something else.

So there are those, Scooby Doo gets a 10/10 in case anyone was wondering, and now I'm off to make some food though Chinese takeout sounds really good...

Get out of my dreams, get into my car.

I love it how the second the bad guys get run off the road, in Charlie's Angels, their car explodes.

You know what I'm talking about?

Like, in the chained-together episode ("i'm not a yo-yo!") when they're driving a farm truck and being chased by cops, then decide to start unloading the potatoes in the back of the truck on to the road, and the bad guys swerve - cause you know, potatoes are apparently deadly for cars - and end up in the ditch where the car bursts into flames?

Mom finds my obsession with this show amusing.

Apparently even she thinks it's cheesy with the fake stunts and all that.

But hey! My ex's mom was Kate Jackson's stunt double, so I'm just supporting her, really!

No, I love it, with its cheesy action scenes and ridiculous dialogue, it makes my day.

And it's actually been a pretty good one.

Slept in, huzzah to that! Met up with my carpool buddy and headed to Cataloging where we got to learn all about fixed fields - actually this is like cake compared to last class's tag central - and I gave my presentation on cataloging non-print material.

Shaking hands, rambled tangents, 5 minutes and 46 seconds later I'm done!

For that class session anyway. Now it's all about updating the group wiki cause they gave us books to catalog together, then updating my own records, plus there's an open book quiz due this weekend. Oh well, I'm not too worried. Open-book is pretty low-maintenance.

And will surprisingly be my first quiz in all of grad school so far.

I'm four classes in.

That's actually why I like it. It's all about papers and projects that I actually remember, rather than studying for a test I'll forget the answers to an hour after I take it.

Registration is tomorrow. I added some classes to my wishlist, now I just have to remember to officially add them tomorrow after work. That'll plan my life at least through December.

And the summer class that I want to take is just in June so I'll be able to focus time and effort to camp in July.

You know, outside of the 40 hours a week that I work my actual job.

Not that camp isn't an actual job.

It's very actual.

It's very time-consuming.

It's a very actual and time-consuming job.

Which reminds me I still need to format that uploaded music.

Back to the to-do-list, I forgot I have a dentist appointment this week as well, so add that to the ever-growing list.

Tomorrow I gotta finish that TAB spreadsheet for the paperback books they want added to the collection, and figure out what I'm gonna say during the meeting on Tuesday that I have to lead without Mentor - that should be paralyzingly scary - and after the spreadsheet is done and sent in I'll focus on the Summer Reading stuff that this whole being sick thing has forced me to put off over and over.

One day at a time, for now I'm going to bed.

Hope you had a good one, I'm off to watch more Angels.

Oh good, the one with the assassin in specialized shoes.

I don't know what you're talking about, this show is totally believable.

Music Rec's

"Get Out of My Dreams, Get Into My Car" Billy Ocean

the amateur video actually highly amuses me as he dances them to death, but also because they're dancing in front of a carmen sandiego backdrop which is another one of my nerdy obsessions...go here My Life in Closed Captions: Just Say No! to vending machine orange juice.

"Lola" The Kinks

c-o-l-a, cola.

Saturday, March 3, 2012

But that train keeps a-rollin' on down to San Antone...

And I'm DONE!

For this weekend anyway.

Powerpoint is researched, finished and posted. It's on cataloging non-print items so I basically gave examples of some, some stuff to watch out for when cataloging them, and then notable tag numbers.

Now I just gotta figure out what to say along with it. But I do that best on the fly.

Plus I'll have time before class cause we're going early. There's a meeting about choosing classes and all that. I have my plan all set out but it'll be interesting to hear what they have to say.

So, you know when you finish a series and you're looking for something to start next, and even though you have a mass amount of tv shows to pick from, you automatically go with something familiar?

Is that just me?

Like, I can literally choose anything to watch, but then I see Charlie's Angels and I'm like, heck yeah!

Sabrina Duncan: I love you, I'll prove it, You won't like it, I don't care.

(favorite quote from the entire series and I use it frequently)

I'm talking the original series, not the remake. No matter how much I love Drew I couldn't watch the new series all the way through.

The movies rocked though, we went as the angels for Halloween my junior year of high school, that was highly amusing.

It goes in spurts with that show, like once a year I get all obsessive and crazy then drop it after about a season and a half.

Original cast is the best, but I actually kind of like Cheryl Ladd, so secondary cast was good as well. I have yet to force myself to watch fourth season, even though I own it. I'll start with 1 and go from there.

It always amuses me to see Tommy Lee Jones in the pilot.

I blame the sudden return on my powerpoint.

I needed something running in the background that wasn't going to distract me and I've seen every episode from seasons 1-3 multiple times.

I work better when there's noise.

Hence the headphones.

For some reason I find silence more distracting than noise. I think it's because if it's silent my mind runs 80 miles per minute and goes off on all these different tangents, whereas if there's a noise to distract me I actually have to focus all my energy on one tangent in particular.

And it works.

Did that make sense?

Perhaps not, I did just take that couch medicine stuff and that makes everything fuzzy.

Oh yeah, some chick told The New Boy "bless your fuzzy heart".

Is that a compliment?

Yes, he's The New Boy, cause there's already a New Guy, and he's older than the New Boy.

I'm gonna blame that nickname on the fuzzyness as well.

I'll fix it later.

I actually almost got to work at the home library today, but I had so much crap to do at the work library that I needed to get done there that I sacrificed the opportunity.

This whole extra responsibilities thing is kickin' my butt.

But in a good way.

Cause it gives me something to do, like today I switched out my "All's Fair in Love and War" display one with one entitled "Teen Scenes in Green" which basically consists of books with green covers.

Also today I made some progress on my spreadsheet - we took the TAB kids to Barnes and Noble and now I get to make a spreadsheet of all the titles they want added to the collection and send it on to my supervisor.

That, of course, is due Monday but since I've been gone the majority of the week, and I'm not supposed to work on work stuff outside of work, I will be finishing it on Monday and hopefully getting it sent in before I get another reminder e-mail.

Speaking of TAB. I was told today that Mentor is going on vacation. And there's a TAB meeting on Tuesday. Which I get to lead. By myself.

No pressure.

Actually, haha and this actually makes me laugh, the only part of the meeting that I'm actually dreading is taking role for volgistics, because I'm still learning their names.

The rest of the meeting will be cake!!

Which sounds backwards, right?

But there are a lot of them, and outside of the meetings I've interacted with about 5 of them. My niece included.

It'll be fine. I will give them snacks and we'll discuss the Barnes and Noble thing, plus talk about our refurbishing idea - basically we're gonna take old books and make them into crafty stuff and decorate the library. They were excited so I'm going with it.

And then review Summer Reading Kickoff duties and then we'll be good.

Good.

Yep, good.

Not gonna freak.

Cause that would be loser-y.

Plus I have more to freak about in the meantime.

Starting with tomorrow.

After that comes my next week's To-Do-List

-Finish that spreadsheet, send it in, and get started on example crafts for refurbishing project.

-I've uploaded all my camp music but I still need to format it and send it out.
Plus pimp out the camp date and theme on Facebook, plus update the website. Or send updates to our webmaster. For some reason there's always something camp-related on my to-do-list no matter what time of year it is.

-Finish editing my friend's stories. I'm almost through with one, but still have to get started on the second, then send those back.

-Summer Reading stuff at work - make sure my program planning sheet got cleared for the forensics presentation, plus get in touch with the other presenter since he still hasn't said anything since his initial e-mail. Gonna have to break down and call him, that should be a fun conversation.

-Plus do whatever homework is due for next weekend.

-And insert some sort of social-life into the process, I haven't actually seen my boyfriend in like weeks cause last Friday didn't really count.

"Wonderful World" Herman's Hermits

good god, they look fifteen! love the random go-go dancers.

"Folsom Prison Blue" Johnny Cash

but i shot a man in reno, just to watch him die. when i hear that whistle blowin' i hang my head and cry

"I am a Man of Constant Sorrow" The Soggy Bottom Boys

And I'm not leaving 'til you're leaving

Have you ever noticed that the second you go from "single" to "taken" is when all the decent guys start coming out of hiding?

Like, when you're single, every freakin' creeper is hitting on you, yet the second you're taken and not looking for a sane one, that's when they all appear?

Not that I'm interested in anyone else, I'm happy being taken as I am very taken with them.

I just find it ironic.

But maybe it's just a quirk of the library. You know how many creepers roam those aisles?

So I've made some more progress on that to-do-list.

Finished the MARC records, interviewed professionals for my paper, scanned all my camp music.

As the list is massive, I'm just going to focus on this week.

-Read the rest of the articles, write up the notes for the assignment and post it

-E-mail the contacts that weren't at the interview and ask about the general collection, send thank you's to the rest

-Format the scanned camp music, it's a mess, but they're uploaded

-Go over my friend's stories that I got like a month ago, cause apparently being busy all the time makes me a really crappy editor.

And I wanna get all of that done before the weekend, possible plans for Friday night, plus I'm going out with the Cool Aunt on Saturday, have class on Sunday, and next week is Valentine's Day - which thank god he feels the same way I do about the hallmark holiday, we'll pass - plus my birthday.

Yikes.

No major plans for that, but I should probably figure something out soon. Would be cool to do something with old high school friends who are now in town. Or maybe go out with the family.

I will have hopefully seen Star Wars in 3D by then, I'm a nerd, get used to it and yes he's as into Star Wars as my family is, so we're good there.

Alright, there were many quotes of the day, though none of them beats this one:

Coworker: "So I picked up the poop..."
Me: "You know, if I didn't know what you were talking about that would have made for a really awkward conversation starer."

"When I Get You Alone" Robin Thicke

the original.

And I'm out for the night.

good god...piranhas...

Saturday, February 4, 2012

"Would it help if I got out and pushed?"

Shameless Star Wars reference.

But I did.

Guess how many cars left the parking lot this morning.

Zero.

Guess how many attempted.

One.

Guess who was around when that happened.

Me.

Great way to meet the neighbors.

One chick gets stuck trying to get out, another chick waits for her to get unstuck cause she's blocked in.

Then she decided to stay so she wanted to go back to where she was parked before.

Basically I pushed and she hit the accelerator, and when that didn't work after about ten minutes we MacGyver'd it. Used the floor mats as traction, AND IT WORKED!

So take that!

But yeah, after that neither of them ended up going to work anyway!

Oh well, it was amusing.

My car was buried.

And they plowed the snow right behind our cars, so there was no way out.

I was split shift, Superwoman said stay home, but I was gonna try to go to the home branch in the afternoon.

But then they lost power.

So, nevermind.

Guess what I spent my day off doing?

Working on my to-do-list.

Shocker, right?!

Added to the group MARC records that I've been putting off, printed off all the material I need to read, read the chapter, took some notes, scanned ALL of my camp songs and uploaded them...now I just need to format them.

Yeah, PS-my new scanner rocks.

Seriously.

But you have no idea how many freaking songs are in that book.

Plus there are more that I don't have and Liz does.

Or I probably have them somewhere buried in my camp stuff.

Which is like tubs worth of stuff.

So those are uploaded - and I've been putting that off since August.

I did laundry and dishes...

What else?

Oh yeah, so ever since that whole pushing the car thing this morning I had the line "Would it help if I got out and pushed?" stuck in my head. Carrie Fisher's voice and all.

So I watched the original trilogy.

In the background, while I was scanning all that music, but it was fantastic as ever.

Though there were a lot more "search your feelings" remarks than I remembered.

Now I've moved on to The Replacements.

"Kick ass, Falco!"

I forgot how good the soundtrack was. Gonna have to look for that on iTunes.

Just got a call from my brother-in-law, he dug out my car for me.

Awww, I love my family. They rock. Though I'm pretty sure my mom asked him to do it.

And yeah, that was my day.

"Cold As Ice" Foreigner

sorry, it was either this or Let It Snow and as more snow is probably a bad idea...

and just because I can

"Don't Bring Me Down" Electric Light Orchestra

i'll tell you once more before i get off the floor, don't bring me down.

Tomorrow I'm totally going to work, don't care about the weather. Cause if I get stuck here again I might go crazy.

It's like, if I'm not sick, and I don't go to work, then I need to be doing something productive.

You know?

I just felt bad cause I couldn't get there.

But I did make a lot of progress on projects I've been putting off.

Next up, prepare for the interview on Monday.

It's a technical services kind of interview for class, where we go through the whole cataloging process with someone who does it for a living. I'm heading to the commission, figured they know what they're doing - cause I'm not supposed to interview someone I work with.

But they gave us a rubric so I won't be completely lost on what to ask...hopefully.

Anyway, I'm gonna crash.

I didn't nap the entire day.

Holy toast, right?

It's okay. Carter made up for me.

Wonder if that's his routine on a regular basis.

Probably.

But at least he's not tearing apart my apartment.

"I Will Survive" The Replacements

love the behind the scenes thoughts on that.

On Moonlight Bay

Drama Drama Drama.

Started off the day overloaded with computer questions, then I was constantly running all over the building patrons to items and running supplies all over the place, after that I got yelled at - by a patron while I was helping another patron - it was one of those days.

And what's worse is that we called it as "one of those days" before 11AM. We open at 10.

But it's alright, I stayed busy which made the day move fairly quickly.

Plus Mom stopped by to pick up some books and drop off some fruit, woohoo! I love fruit. I'm weird like that, sorry.

And that was my day.

Aside from homework stuff - emailing my professor about an assignment - and summer reading stuff - emailing my contact about a presentation and getting that all finalized.

So I guess I was productive.

There's so much stuff on my to-do-list right now it's crazy.

First off there's class. Tons and tons of homework due in February, which is fine cause it's class. If there was no homework I wouldn't learn anything, you can only take away so much wisdom from a lecture. But this week I need to schedule an appointment to meet with a cataloger - one not from our system - to talk about the whole processing thing. Then add my input to a group MARC wiki thing, which hopefully I don't completely suck at. Plus read a chapter and some articles and write up a paper on those and submit it. And these are just things that I need to do within the next week and a half.

Then there's Summer Reading stuff, there's a serious amount of planning that goes into this whole extravaganza.

We've got a TAB meeting on the 7th to plan for more Summer Reading stuff, which means I need to make another phone call to a different contact tomorrow so I can figure out if they're interested.

I'm also supposed to be editing a story, well two, for a friend which I've started but am nowhere near finished.

Plus I got a call from my dentist and need to set up an appointment with him and one with Mom to meet with our tax dude cause apparently I need to learn how that works.

Then! There's camp! Which is fastly approaching, but before that even I need to scan all my sheet music, upload it, and e-mail to about 10 people. Yeah. Said I would do that back in August. Look how long it's been and I still haven't gotten to it.

AND! Second Sister is due next week and who knows when that is all going to happen.

So yes, my vacation is officially over and I'm back to the real world. Which isn't so bad. I kinda like the real world.

But it's busy.

And constant.

And constantly busy.

So I should sleep while I can.
