Christmas Music That Doesn't Suck 2014 Edition: Day Ten

Wish List - Alex Zukoff

Not bad for being all by himself.

2013 was Only Seven Left, 2011 was Neon Trees

2012 Day Ten - Westward Leading, Still Proceeding

bang she shot you, karma tastes so...

Joe Studley calling in sick means me at the home branch all day, jamming out with my big brother coworker.

He's a cool guy so the day flew by fairly quickly.

Was amusing to go back to old habits, though he got the bookdrop I still went straight to routine with the holds list/expired/cancelled/counting money/checking in delivery/etc.

Hit up Arby's for lunch, that rocked.

And basically just jammed around all day.

Though for some reason I'm exhausted, which makes no sense cause while the work branch is constantly busy, the home branch is more relaxed. So it doesn't make sense.

Maybe it's a state of mind thing. Zenned out.

I'm tired.

And waking up early tomorrow morning so will probably konk out within the next few minutes.

Clips of the night were basically from - you know how you can go on youtube to find one video and you end up finding like eight you weren't planning to find?

It's like a train of thought thing like, "hey, i'm gonna look for culps seminar videos."

"it's really inspiring that all of you decided to attend this mandatory drug awareness assembly..."

"i love will ferrell and ana gasteyer, let's do a search for the perfect cheer." "oh my god, why has no one uploaded videos of the perfect cheer?" "i bet i can find some amateurs."

"oh my god, if you could hear them speak they are dead on!" "those were some killer moves. let's look for some videos on breakdancing."

"oh my god that's ridiculously cool. let's find something else ridiculously cool." "who's ridiculously cool and her music is stuck in my head? kelly clarkson of course."

"well that was....interesting." "what's the name of that song from her new CD?" "oh, that's right." "wow, his cover is really cool, let's post that version."

"I Forgive You" Kelly Clarkson cover by Ben Mallare

"very impressive. almost better than the original." "who else has a killer voice?" "oh yeah..."

"Bang Bang Bang" Christina Perri

"oh my god, she's fantastic live. i wanna go." "you know who else is great live?"

"speaking of having a new hairstyle and outfit practically every time she walks through a door..."

"though when i hear gaga i think of this"

"oh my god, i love sue sylvester. she needs a 'best of' video." "bet i could find one."

"aww, she's so cool. i want one. a sue sylvester that is. guess i should attempt to be more badass in the future." "speaking of badasses..."

there were more, but i'm cutting myself and you off.

cause we need a break.

WE WERE ON A BREAK!!

okay now i'm done.

gotta sleep.

like now.

early morning + long day tomorrow.

OUT!

Saturday, March 17, 2012

You should've apologized to my horse.

So I watched The Three Musketeers on DVD today as it came out Tuesday. "was it 40 or 400?" "just the 40. it was an off day."

Awesome special features with extended scenes and interviews on set with the actors and crew.

The awesomeness demands a sequel - especially since Orlando is headed to France to start a war - and he travels by ship but no pirates in sight.

But it's one of those movies that needs a sequel because of the ending or lack there of. But then I'm not sure of its ratings or viewer numbers which would answer the question of would there be any interest in a sequel if it were made in the first place? But this one needs it! You know? Just like I Am Number Four.

Major cliffhanger.

Sequel in the works? No idea. Though the novel is offically published. And I own it. Sitting on the shelves in front of me.

Now I just need the motivation to read it.

And about 20 others sitting right next to it.

I'll stick to the editing in the meantime. Made a lot of progress tonight was proud. I find it relaxing, but then again I'm a nerd. But it gives me a chance to use my English major skills.

Cause you know knowing things about classical literature quirks, rhyming structures, grammatical trends, or being able to name the author or title doesn't help me at all at my day job.

A Library Service Associate who knows things about literature? What is the world coming to?

Sequels, that's where I was going.

Know what does have a sequel? and a third installment this upcoming summer? Men In Black. "This definitely rates about a 9.0 on my weird-shit-o-meter." Apparently I'm way behind cause I had no idea they were bringing it back. Wasn't the second one a disaster? I mean I love Rosario Dawson but she's the only thing I remember from the entire movie. And I don't even remember how she was involved in the plot it's been so long. She was probably the killer monster or something.

There are a lot of good movies coming out this summer aside from that you've got The Avengers. The Dark Knight Rises. The new GI Joe. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Bourne Legacy. That should be especially good as it ended the way it ended.

But enough about all that. I was actually productive today. Well semi-productive. The majority of my work I can't do until Monday.

Today was good though. Flew by pretty quickly, though I was expecting a weirder day aside from being the "in charge but not actually in charge" person cause I had worked there the longest out of the employees that weren't at lunch during that hour. Which never happens ever cause I still consider myself a new employee even though I've been there almost 2 years. Though I still am pretty much the youngest of the bunch.

Of course that's when all the killer reference questions came in. But no, I was waiting for bizarre crazy stuff cause this morning I made every single light. And that never happens. So something was off.

Falling asleep as I write. I've been staring at this screen for too long, even my cat thinks I'm overduing it. He's konked out next to me about an hour ago. How do you spell overduing? or is it overdueing? or is it even a word at all? Like I said, sleep is near. And nearer. and nearer. and nearer. I don't think nearer's a word either.

You know what's a weird word? Fork. Sorry Drew reference there. That would've been a good one on nitrous. But I probably would have laughed and then he would have sliced my tongue off.

yes i realize this post went absolutely nowhere.

nearer and nearer. Okay, I'm out of here. Have a good one!

All the songs make sense.

If you watch Castle then you get that reference.

If not...you'll figure it out.

So, the boy who doesn't do Valentine's or flowers turned me into a complete girl today in front of my coworkers.

Was in the back room, working on the First Aid Crusade, when Fearless Leader walks into the room with flowers. I move, so she can get passed me, thinking they were for Girlscout or somebody, and she just keeps looking at me.

The boyfriend sent me flowers.

Nice flowers.

Very nice flowers.

At work.

And apparently I turned completely red, which they highly enjoyed because I don't do that often.

Or ever.

In front of them.

Cause, you know, I'm just the goofy kid of the bunch, that they turn to if they're looking for a movie reference or a song is stuck in their head and they don't know what it is.

Or when there's a computer problem and instead of calling down to our very capable tech people, Big Brother calls me College and asks me to fix it.

Which I do.

So it's okay, but still amusing.

Anyway, so yes, flowers at work. He's turning me into a girl. First spiders and now this. I'm sure Amos would love this.

After work I called Favorite Sister-In-Law as she had computer questions, see this apparently is supposed to be my area, and I said we'd figure it out this weekend.

This weekend will be awesome, not only because it's my birthday - which I don't like massively massively celebrate, kinda like how I don't celebrate Valentine's but still show up with candy and Fearless Leader said I looked like a giddy kid, which I did cause Fun Dip rocks! And yeah!

Okay, I know that I'm young, but I'm not that young. How do people not know what Fun Dip is? It originated in like the '40s, of course it went by a different name, but still, it existed! And people ate it!

So then today I give them to people my age and they were stoked! Saying they haven't had it in years, and then anyone over 30 was like, what the?

SERIOUSLY?!

Okay. Now I'm feeling young.

Which is good.

Cause next week I'll be feeling old.

Old - Oh right, I was mid-statement, sorry. Got caught up in a sugar high apparently.

So, not only is this weekend my birthday, but also my newest niece Tessa Jo is getting baptized. Which means lots of fun family stuff so I'm stoked.

Still have no idea what I'm doing for the birthday or any of that. I'm assuming we'll do some sort of thing at some point. Since I'm with family on Sunday I could jam with friends on Monday. Cause we're closed. Three day weekend, woohoo!

But I can't focus on that. Cause first I gotta finish that tech-services paper. Though I can't really do that until the chick gets back to me.

So that's my procrastination excuse, she hasn't gotten back to me yet.

So I can't write the paper until she gets back to me.

See, if I repeat it enough times I forget that I could actually start with the stuff I already know and then fill in the rest when she sends it to me.

Then I would actually be semi-done and not so freaked about it.

But that's this week.

That paper and editing.

And then Saturday is the Barnes and Noble Buy where we take the teens to pick out books they want in the collection. That should be fun.

So, the joy of tonight - well and today - was that Slim Shady brought me this recipe for this easy meal, and she taped it to my locker.

Guess where it is now?

Still taped to my locker.

BUT! I have this awesome app on my ipod about How To Cook Everything and yep, found something on Lemon Chicken and Noodles. So I got all the stuff and by the time I made it back to my apartment - the bag boy dropped my cheesecake thing so he had to go get me another and then we didn't get to it anyway - the boyfriend was already here.

He did the majority of the work on the meal, but he did used to work in fast food so he had the advantage.

And I use that term loosely, neither of us are so great, but he did pretty well.

And it turned out pretty good, and edible, and my apartment is still standing, and nothing got burnt. It's exciting!

All-in-all I'd call it a win.

Plus he didn't give me crap about Star Wars Episode Two being the "romantic one" which it is, but didn't exactly dawn on me until he said it.

So now it's back to me and Carter, and I'm exhausted.

Long day today and another one tomorrow.

sometimes i worry that my boyfriend is a bigger fan of lady gaga than i am.

like how he sings it when he cooks.

just saying.

This time I'm not leaving without you...

"What should I post about?"
"Your favorite candy bar."

Twix. I like Twix. Or anything with caramel. And nuts. Like snickers. Although, for some weird reason, I've started to like Almond Joy's. and I hate coconut, so it doesn't make sense. Unless someone has two coconuts and they're banging them together. sorry, monty python reference. "message for you sir!"

Oh and M&M's, I'm a fan of those as well. And rolos, laffy taffy's, what's the name of those giant taffy bars that have a strawberry flavor and they're covered in sprinkles? Milk Duds. Maybe some Reese's. I used to hate them. No reason whatsoever. Weird chocolate prejudice. Now I love them. How could you not love chocolate and peanut butter?

Quote of the day:
"If you think your memory is bad the rest of the world is doomed!" JS, always good for my ego.

Glee-Loving Boss is back, huzzah! We missed him. Plus now there will be less of me running around with my head cut off. Or maybe that was just another excuse for my crazy. "You're always here!" (patron said to me tonight. yes i pretty much live there.) And before today I hadn't been to the other branch in like a week. and I only went there today because more people were sick. As long as they tell me where to go it's fine. And never boring.

"stale chalk. right.... i'll put that in the blog. how do you spell stale?... that's not how you spell stale."
see, i am paying attention to our phone coversation. totally awake enough to be coherent.

We'll go with "songs of the midwest" maybe i'll make it a midwest week.

"You and I" Lady Gaga

video doesn't make sense bit creepy but whatever. orgy filmed in nebraska.

let's switch it up a bit.

"Kansas City" Beatles version

just ignore the crazy screaming fangirls.

good times never seemed so good

The time has come. Swamp People is officially over for the season. Sad day. But they tagged out so it's okay.
I love Troy and Elizabeth. Plus Jacob. They're my favorite team. Troy's the comic relief while Liz and Jacob are more sane.

"Lochness must have had a twin brother. Cause we just caught him." Good god, their boat is gonna sink. Tons of pounds of gator filling a boat in a storm. There's like 4 inches of boat over the water. Stupid.

"It's the only bad habit I got and I'm going with it." Junior's wife about smoking. Someone on the boat is always smoking. Doesn't matter which boat.

Today was a full day and actually pretty busy. Plus media central now that Amy Winehouse died. Total sad day that she joins the Forever 27 Club. True thing too. Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain, all died at 27. So apparently there's some sort of club. I don't know. Google it. Sounds like a curse to me.

Also, Lady Gaga shot a music video in a bean field here in the awesomeness that is Nebraska. We're assuming it's for her new song written about her Nebraska-born boyfriend.

So I was all excited because I get tomorrow off and I could do camp stuff. But my partner in crime is gone, and Nic is gone so it's just gonna be me. And I was like yay! I get to sleep in! I can stay around the house and work at my own pace, I'll get stuff done...but I walk in the door and Mom's like "we're doing corn tomorrow."
Crap.
The phrase "doing corn" means picking 80 million ears of corn, shucking them all, cleaning them all, then cutting them up and putting the pieces of corn in ziplock bags that are measured out. The process sucks. And it's disgusting cause you get all wet and sticky.
Man.
They better let me sleep in. I moved out for a reason.
Should'a stayed at my apartment.
Man.

Okay, why would someone who was put in a hospital because of a snakebite, be out during a full moon voluntarily catching snakes with his barehands for extra cash? Seriously?
With a long sleeve shirt and some gloves. Crazy.
But I like Willie. He's the one with one of his front teeth missing. Not the most school-smart hunter, but he's got some strength and swamp-smarts. yeah, swamp-smarts. I'm going with it. He usually hunts gators with his Dad.

Songs for tonight = Puck's greatest hits

Summer Songs

I'm done! I'm free! Papers are written and posted, books are read - yes all 12 i literally read them all - Wikis are up and running. And I'm done! Free! Until August! With school anyway, now it's gonna be camp central!

Okay, so summer song - aka the song that plays first after I'm released from school. I can't skip it for the rest of the summer, cheesy but whatever. Skip back a few posts and there's an explanation. Been doing it a couple years now.

2008:
Kat DeLuna - Whine Up

this was the originator back in college. i heard it and the concept stuck.

2009:
Will Dailey - Tomorrow Still Comes

live version aka impromptu singing at a party. nice.

2010:
Avi Buffalo - Remember Last Time

not the official video since they don't have one. they do have videos of them singing it at clubs, for example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iaqnNFBcaws

Aaannnd drum roll - summer song for this year:
2011:
Hot Chelle Rae - Tonight Tonight

and yes, that is chord overstreet in the video. i totally flipped.
gonna be an interesting summer.

Okay, and just as an extra tonight - Nic is here and introduced me to the awesomeness that is Judas by Lady Gaga.
Totally sweet video you gotta check it out.

Imagine the 12 disciples and Jesus in a biker gang. That's what this video is.
Although I have no idea what's going on from 3:45-4:20. No idea.

and because i'm still laughing....
Golf Boys - Oh, Oh, Oh

Join Ben, Hunter, Ricki and Bubba on the golf course. hilarious hick boys rapping. yes, this is actually how i golf. ask nic. we name our clubs, drive crazy in golf carts, get lots of drinks from the drink cart lady, and always have to have a woohoo in our backswing. "that one sucked." "there was no woohoo in your backswing."
is that a jonas brother? it looks like a jonas brother.

out!
