The day of the dead.

I've noticed that Wednesdays and Thursdays especially the library staff just seems dead.

You would think that would happen on a Monday. Tuesdays are fine, Friday's we're antsy, but Wednesdays and Thursdays just bring a general deadness.

No idea why.

It didn't help that 2 of the public service staff called in sick today.

A lot of red in the schedule.

More sickness. Glad I had it and am over it. Usually I'm the last to catch things.

Blame that on my stubbornness. And the "it's all mental" attitude.

Did a lot of TAB info stuff, went to church after, sat in the balcony with Oldest Sister.

She is the organist.

More patient with the piano than I ever was. Though I can blame that on a few factors that I won't mention on here.

After church got to talk with Beej and JoJo then headed back here to watch NCIS. Loving the ex-wife showing up during their investigation. Hilarious.

Now I'm watching Mike and Molly but the deadness has carried on so I'll probably end up konking out before midnight.

Geez, is it really only 11 now?

This no homework thing is really screwing with my brain. Aw, crap. I gotta fill out those online evaluation forms.

Okay, new plan: fill out forms, check grades, then sleep.

Sickness Day One:

- Woke up with a fever, headache, was exhausted and sore.

- Laid on the couch freezing and overheating attempting to sleep and watching Lord of the Rings movies 1, 2, and 3. Which I didn't realize was an all day affair until I attempted it.


Sickness Day Two:

- Already had the day off, had plans all of them cancelled.

- Woke up with a fever, headache, was exhausted and sore started coughing again.

- Laid around on the couch attempting to sleep and watching an all-day marathon of NCIS.



Sickness Day Three:

- Woke up with a fever, no voice, exhaustion and frustration!

- Laid around on the couch attempting to sleep and do homework. Caught up on Leverage.

I'm going stir crazy so I'm going in tomorrow. My fever is gone and I can stay in this apartment no longer.

Do you know how hard it is to sleep not only when you're freezing one minute and then overheated the next but with a 22 POUND CAT SLEEPING ON YOUR STOMACH?!

Normally this is cute and fine and a nightly occurrence but I was freezing so I'd put on more blankets, and then I'd be hot so I'd attempt to throw them off but you can't when there's a 22 POUND CAT SLEEPING ON YOUR STOMACH!

Cause he's cute and fluffy, but he gets mad when you wake him up from his nap. And he naps A LOT! But then, when I finally fall asleep he decides he wants to get up which means he wants me to get up.

I know this cause if I don't he'll jump on me and walk around on my stomach and stare at me.

Or lay across the room and glare at me until I get up and play with him.

He's smart though cause he bites normally but not when I'm sick which is super weird. It's like he knows. Though the fact that I laid around in the fetal position for like 3 days isn't exactly subtle.

Livin' on popsicles and flavored water, ah the good life.

No, I'm fine, it's fine, we're fine, the boyfriend's almost fine as is the rest of the family.

See there are two strains going around in our family there's the stomach flu that my Mom had plus Oldest Sister and Squirt and my brother. And then there's the Influenza that me and the boyfriend had.

And apparently that lasts for like a week so I'm cutting it short and going to work tomorrow. Cause it's all mental. Only reason I keep staying home is cause of the fever, otherwise I probably would have sucked it up and went in.

I'm like my dad like that. I don't really take sick days.

Anyway, tomorrow it is. But I did get some homework done today. Finished the IT paper that's due tomorrow at 10 AM - huzzah - next up is the paper due Sunday - cause I already finished the one due Saturday. And then the one that's due next Saturday is after that.

And then I'm done for the semester!!

But then January will come and I will once again be overrun by assignments. Which is fine. Cause next December I will be done done.

As in done eternally.

As in no way am I going for a doctorate.

I already feel crazy enough for going back voluntarily, I ain't doing it again. Power to the ones crazy/brave enough for it.

Alright, off to sleep now. Work tomorrow then the weekend off. 9 hours, I can power through 9 hours. I'll be fine. It's all mental.

Also tomorrow is more homework. I actually did a bunch tonight, but I HATE LESSON PLANS! Part of the reason I dropped the Ed program and just went with English.

For our last assignment we have to come out with a lesson plan to teach people the Dewey system or Library of Congress system.

As we use Dewey I'm going with that.

I'm come up with the objectives and then come up with a powerpoint and attach it.

Yeah.

That's my plan.

Take this job and shove it.

No idea where that came from but I like it.

So I'm watching NCIS, ps the boyfriend thinks I watch too much TV. Which intrigues me cause it's not on all that often, sure I have certain shows I tune in for, mostly The Voice and Castle and the rest of the nights I have other stuff going on so it goes to the DVR.

Much more relaxing than the flustration that was yesterday.

Yesterday was a madhouse, but we were closed the day before so that's actually normal.

Today I had two hours to get all my supplies and TAB stuff together, we had a great meeting with a lot of good ideas, plus we took the kids out to the courtyard and took some fun pictures with their repurposing projects. Will have to send them to our website dude, maybe he can post them on the library website.

And I actually took half an hour of vacation, I know a whole 30 minutes right?!! so I could meet up with the Library Goddess and the cool aunt for the rivalry game of the season aka Nebraska vs. Creighton - we dominated the creetans - but they're goofballs, especially when they're together so it was a lot of fun.

Plus we ran into another professor, and we were just literally talking about morning classes. This is the Shackleton professor so it was amusing when she was at the game, and we just happened to run into her. Randomness rocks.

Told a lot of old family stories, basically me as a kid being an idiot but for some reason it turned out okay, like once when I was four I was watching the Jungle Book and it got to the scary part and it was too loud. So I freaked out and couldn't find my parents. Me, being the genius I was at age four, decided then that it would be a good idea to run to my grandparents house cause they would make it all better. So I ran half a mile in the dark, barefoot, got there, Grandpa was like what? He drove me back, and my parents were walking to the house - they were out cleaning a bin - and he's like "missing something?" "huh?" they didn't even know I was gone.

Rock solid man, rock solid.

Or the time at the hotel, basically every year we would go to a hotel in Iowa to meet up halfway with some family. My cousins and I would come up with random games to keep us entertained.

This one was basically hide and go seek with a twist. We'd take a bunch of pieces of paper and make a big black dot on only one of them. Everybody picked from the stack and went off to hide. Once you found a hiding spot you open the paper and see if you had the spot, if you did you're it and you had to go find someone, if not do your best to stay away though it's best to keep wandering instead of being in one spot. If you ran into someone you didn't know if they were friend of foe so do you team up or run?

I wandered a bit too far, ended up in a completely different wing and floor. Completely lost and I'm like 8 I knock on a random door and there are these two guys going, what the heck? They basically led me around the building until I could hear my family, we're super loud.

But that could have been really bad, as could the barefoot thing cause you know I could have run into a raccoon. And "a raccoon could kill a dog!" scroll down.

Sometimes you gotta go back to the classics.

Same night as Friends and Will and Grace. Back when NBC dominated. Not so much anymore. Though it does have The Voice which has gotten my attention as of late.

If you don't know the premise this is it in a nutshell.

Maya Gallo (Laura San Giacomo) is broke. She was fired from her TV newsjob after making an anchorwoman cry by sabotaging her telepromter. In order to keep her apartment she is forced to talk to her father a rich businessman and owner of Blush Magazine.

He hires her and she basically is the only normal one in the bunch. You've got Jack the boss and her dad played by George Segal, Elliot (Enrico Colantoni) the photographer who sleeps with all the models, Finch (David Spade) Jack's personal assistant and professional womanizer then Nina Van Horn an middle-aged former model still fighting for the spotlight played by Wendie Malick.

Originally the show didn't have Finch, but the network said it was missing something so they went back, added him in, rewrote the script and added the new scenes in. David makes up a lot of the material himself so it was a good call.

Maya: This picture sends the wrong message.
Elliot: What message are you trying to send?
Maya: "My name is Maya Gallo, and I'm a professional."
Elliot: And this says?
Maya: "My name is Maya Gallo, and my naughty girlfriends and I are waiting for your calls."

At first the show was all about Maya adjusting and the others resenting her but by the end of first season she's in and they've bonded and it's more about complications or hijinks at work that turn comedic. Finch and Elliot pulling pranks on Nina.

The show ran from 1997-2003 when the network decided they needed to add a new character who was supposed to be this rising star. However this caused too much tension so they ended it. It was Rena Sofer who you probably know Colonel Bell's lawyer on NCIS.

Jack: [to Hannah, over the phone] Hi, Hannah. Daddy's going to sing a song about... his desk. Oh, markers and pencils and pens And keys to my Mercedes Benz A cup and an empty green bottle...
Nina barges in about something unrelated: Damnit, Jack!
Jack: Oh, look, it's a grumpy ex-model.

On the scale of awesome I rate it a 10/10. It's got a great cast and it's one of those shows that you know they really get along off set as well and that's been said by all of them in interviews.

The characters are well written and very different from each other, the writing is great, storylines are realistic for the most part as they work for a fashion magazine.

Nina: [looking at Maya's ID photo] This picture captures the real you.
Dennis: Yeah, someone should, for science.

This is when I first realized how great of an actress Wendie Malick is. She plays the snarky ex-model fighting to stay young, much like her current role on Hot in Cleveland.

It's funny that I gravitate to the bitch character. Nina. Sue Sylvestor, Karen Darling, the list goes on though they're all from comedies. I don't think I could handle a serious bitch, at least these are funny.

What's not awesome is that now I have to write the paper, that I was so gladly putting off because she had yet to get back to me.

And I really need to finish it.

I started out tonight with such great intentions, really. Got all my stuff out, made supper, turned on some TV to watch while I ate.

THEN Carter fell asleep on my lap.

And you know, how can I disturb that?

So I kept watching, cause he was cute and cuddly and you know, not biting me.

Then I kept watching some more, but it was good cause now I'm finally caught up on NCIS.

Dude?! That 200th episode? I screamed on so many occasions that I'm surprised my neighbors didn't bust in! Freakin' Kate and Jenny, Fornell just made me laugh, and of course Franks, but Ari?!?! Dude. I wanted Gibbs to punch him.

I do have to question the whole Tony and Kate angle though, I thought they were more siblings and she was into Gibbs. Or that's how it seemed the first season.

I'm really curious how they filmed that as she doesn't look like Kate anymore with the blonde highlights. Medical Examiner in Boston. Or if they filmed it at all, technically that's the same outfit she wore in the plague episode. Did I mention I was a fan? Hmmm...

Then the most recent episode with the return of the elusive Wendy. I'm intrigued.

What was I saying?

Oh right, yes I wanted to be productive and I tried really hard, but then my cat fell asleep on me and it all went to crap.

Saturday is the Barnes and Noble Paperback Buy with the TAB kids, that should be interesting, but other than that I have the whole day so if it's not done by Friday night it'll be done by Saturday night. And posted by at least Sunday as that's a full-fledge day of family fun.

Or at least half-day, I still have no idea what or if we're doing anything for my birthday.

It's not a big deal as I don't really celebrate them, so I'm not gonna plan anything.

Just go with the flow, see if anyone wants to do anything on Monday. Since I have it OFF!

Today was good, Slim Shady took me out for lunch for my birthday. Jammed out there for a while. Was a good changeup from my usual soup and sandwich.

Worked on some Summer Reading Event stuff after that, plus I'm still working on my Hunger Games Read-Alike, if you have titles send them my way.

Though I have like 40. I'm weeding through and only keeping the good ones.

And the Spunky Old Ladies display is still rocking it on first floor. I'm quite proud of that one actually.

So I've been watching a lot of NCIS:LA. As you've probably noticed, I've mentioned it once or twice. I'm not so deep into it like I was with Chuck or Leverage, but it's a good enough show to have on in the background when you're supposed to be doing other things, you know like homework or writing.

And every once in a while when you look up it's usually worth it.

Though it'll never top its originator.

I like the buddy dynamic between Callen and Sam. Their banter is quite humorous.

Kensi is a badass, Hetty is hilarious, I had completely forgotten about Nate the psychologist until I got season one, but Deeks is still my favorite.

Although sometimes I want to punch him.

But that's how you know it's a good actor.

Like Rachel Berry.

She's a fantastic singer.

But as a person, you kind of always want to punch her.

The actress is so good she makes you hate her. Then love her again when she sings.

I'm assuming she's still the star on Glee, I haven't watched a single episode this season.

I've also fallen behind on Bones - shocker I know! This was my favorite show for like ever. And The Closer - still at midpoint of the season. Big Bang Theory I'm still on last season and that's only because I bought the DVD. If I hadn't I'd still be on the season before that. I love that show. Criminal Minds I read up on online. Warehouse is out on break until July. Grey's I haven't watched regularly since college so like 2 seasons ago.

The only real shows I keep up with are Castle, 2 Broke Girls, and NCIS the original.

And technically I don't really even watch them when they're on live, just DVR'd.

Cause I work.

A lot.

Or I'm gone.

Or distracted.

Or writing.

Or writing and distracted.

Like now.

Agent Jordan Todd from Criminal Minds is currently Detective Jess Traynor on NCIS:LA. Took me 10 minutes to figure out how I knew her and by that time she was already dead.

I feel like somebody should come up with a list.

Of locations and agencies.

Like LAPD is Deeks.

But it's also Brenda Lee Johnson from The Closer.

NYPD is Kate Beckett in Castle but it's also Olivia Benson from SVU.

The FBI is always obnoxious in these shows, but you've still got Agent Booth from Bones and the whole BAU from Criminal Minds.

Trent Kort is a completely obnoxious CIA agent from NCIS but then you've got two "CIA Agent Walker"s aka Annie from Covert Affairs and Sarah from Chuck who are completely anti-Kort.

Though John Casey is the only NSA Agent I'm coming up with.

Then you just got anti-everything with the Leverage gang.

I watch too many crime shows.

But someone should still make a list.

Cause there's even more crime shows that I don't watch.

So there's gotta be more crossover.

Finally watched Castle - good god, Kat's making the rounds. First Bones, then Criminal Minds, then Leverage, then NCIS as the Chaplain, now she's the "falls for conman's charms" girl on Castle. Geez. I miss the good ole days of Eastwick. And WMC. But that's a different story.

What is it with me and short-lived female-led series that were pulled too early from ABC?

They totally killed the Eastwick storyline when they cancelled it mid-season. Made the devil into some sort of White Knight. Then took it off the air. WHAT?! Have you read the book? Or seen the movie? Or either of the remakes? Killed it man.

But it was worth it to reunite Rebecca Romijn and Lindsay Price after Pepper Dennis. Though with Lindsay Price's record for short-lived TV series I should have seen this coming.

Jaime Ray Newman surprised me, she's quite a good actress. I can see why she's making the rounds. Though I will forever call her Kat. Hope they bring her back on NCIS. She's got the red hair going for her. Gibbs needs a new interest.

Much more entertaining than the first time around.

Think it had everything to do with the teacher.

First time I went - granted it was in a smaller town and at a library, ironic - it was taught by a cop.

Today we had a sub.

I knew it would be interesting when she was showing clips from Wipeout on the projector before class started.

Every time we took a break she'd show more AFV or just random clips that she had collections of, mostly people doing stupid stuff.

The majority of them had something to do with a vehicle. So it was almost appropriately class related.

We'll call it class adjacent.

It was perfection.

Anyway, she understood that we didn't all want to be there so she flew over the material pretty quickly, not repeating things that we already knew. Answered a lot of dumb questions. I think we all passed.

Why is it that I always end up at the table with the people who talk?

You know, they think they're whispering but they're clearly not cause she keeps looking back at them every 30 seconds.

I think that just goes with sitting in the back corner.

Did that through the majority of college, unless it was a small enough class for all of us to be forced to the front.

Gonna have to switch it up a little I guess.

I did for the Library Goddess, but then she kept using me as an example. Made me sound brilliant, I should thank her for that.

Though I sat in the back for her next class and she still did it.

So maybe it's just me.

It wasn't like a "click it or ticket" message thrown our way, it was more of a "click it or die" kind of message. All these videos and pictures and horrible stories. Scared into submission. Gross.

Plus, tires make me paranoid now. Did you know if they're older than 4 years that's dangerous? Not as in I've used them for four years, as in they've existed for four years. Including the years they've sat in the shop. They showed us the numbering system, I'm checking mine next time I go to the car.

I did a spit take. Literally. I was swallowing my coffee and the second that first squirrel screamed it came out of my mouth and back into the thermos. Laughing and swallowing and coughing at the same time is just awkward. Luckily the majority of my classmates were out of the room on break.

But dude.

I'd seen it before too, I just didn't remember it.

Classic spit take.

Not one of my shining moments.

But it just got worse cause them I kept thinking about the video and laughing when I really shouldn't have been laughing cause she's talking about death and destruction.

A lot of the stuff just reminded me of this episode of NCIS when Abby and Tony are talking about driving classes and Abby is commenting on the videos. "Drink, Drive, Die" was the name of one she wanted on DVD.

And it's like the time that I couldn't stop laughing at this quote from Just Shoot Me and it made working in the lab, where there are just two of us, really awkward.

But that's when you take a lap.

Okay, so, as expected spent my day off sick and on the couch. Coughing up a storm, but getting through even more of season eight of NCIS. Right now I'm up to the flashback episode of where Gibbs and Tony first meet. It's making me crave fortune cookies.

Loving the flashbacks. Wish we could learn more about Abby's past through flashbacks. She intrigues me.

Other than that it's been pretty slow today.

I did get a visit from Mom though, bringing me soup and fruit, taking the Christmas tree.

First day.

Spent it falling asleep on my feet. Literally. I mean, I was able to stay awake and conscious at work, but I totally passed out between shifts for an hour at my apartment.

Apparently, the two guys I worked with yesterday called in sick this morning.

But that's not exactly something you can do when it's your first day as a 40 hour professional.

I've only taken one sick day since I started in May of 2010. It's November of 2011.

Bring it.

It was a good first day, aside from the weakness and the wanting to crash.

And I have tomorrow off so I can rest up. I have a feeling I'll spend it on the couch. It's interesting having the whole day off from both places. I liked working at two different places for two different jobs but it was a lot to keep track of. Hopefully, this will be a little easier.

Other than working, and learning all about Kindle and its capabilities I also talked to my mom, who is coming to town tomorrow. She's always entertaining. And I can give her her new Christmas tree to take to the farm so I don't have to keep hauling it around in the back of my car.

Oh, did I mention I bought them a tree for Christmas? I think I might have in passing. Remember the Christmas Tree From Hell story? My Life in Closed Captions: A Christmas Tree Nightmare Mom says I get to throw the tree in the hole. I might even film the freaking event. It will be fantastic. And EPIC. I hate that freaking tree.

So yes, I bought them a new one. With no lights already attached. They just die off and don't work the next year anyway. This is easier. I will also buy them some new ornaments, if she wants them. It is her Christmas present. Well, hers and dad's. Who said I should get a giant 9 foot one, but since she and I are the ones to decorate the thing every year, I went with her decision on the 7 foot one instead.

And it's still in my car. So Mom can take it home tomorrow. No real point in taking it out of the car if I'm not going to put it up in my apartment.

Okay, other good things in life. Talked with Obi-Wan about camp today. Last weekend of July is set up. We'll get most of the rowdy crew back again, but with the exception of some major players who have scheduled conflicts. Gonna be interesting there.

Ummm... I'm watching the Kate's Sister episode of NCIS which totally makes me sad. Kate was my favorite. Think I still like her more than Ziva, which is saying something because Ziva seriously rocks. I'm glad that Sasha is back on TV. Rizzoli and Isles is rockin' it on TNT.

Oh! And Kat guest-starred on NCIS. As Chaplan Burke. I was impressed. And she's a redhead so maybe they'll keep her around since Gibbs has a thing for redheads. That'd be awesome. Kat as in Kat Gardener from Eastwick. aka Jaime Ray Newman. I loved Eastwick. But of course, it got cut short. Not a surprise there it did star Lindsay Price and Rebecca Romijn. Not exactly solid TV series records in their background. But I like them so I watched it. Found it quite funny. Although, the problem with it ending so quickly was that in the finale it made you believe that Darryl was a good person and not the devil like in the real Eastwick.

Speaking of redheads, I think my very favorite NCIS guest star redhead would probably be Casey Novak with a gun, Diane Neal aka Abigail Borin. Call the Coast Guard, She's fantastic. I just watched "Ships in the Night" yes, I'm watching season 8 on DVD again, get used to it. And I'm still laughing. She's on a horrible blind date on a boat - with nowhere to go - when someone gets shot and murdered and then Gibbs comes and she's still in a dress trying to work a crime scene, it's hysterical.

Gibbs: Well, somebody get something!
McGee computer beeps: Boss, I got something.
Borin: My guys never do that.
Gibbs: Get yourself some new guys.

Sorry. NCIS rocks. Maybe tomorrow night I'll serenade you with things about Bones or Criminal Minds or Castle or one of the movies I have checked out. But I'll stick with NCIS until I crash tonight.

"Fix You" Coldplay

"I've been cheated, been mistreated, when will I be loved?"

Surprise visits from two supervisors today both claiming to check out the relatively new paint job. One - who shall be known as the "Master Chef" (I have no idea about her culinary talents but right before they offered me the permanent job she asked if I was ready to join the Master Chef Challenge. I asked if they brought fire extinguishers. Then they gave me the job instead) - the other who I refer to as Cabin Fever. Because she gets Cabin Fever when she spends too much time in her office and comes to help at the desk. She's also the one who told me to say I "worship snakes" when asked out by a creeper or get annoyed with telemarketers.

Both were amusing as always. One actually did check out the paint job, the other and myself thought about moving the Young Adult area as it's quickly running out of space and no one knows it exists. But where would you move it to really? That's why I'm excited for my blueprint grad school assignment.

I actually enjoyed today a lot, despite the mass amount of stress brought on by certain patrons. But it's just the usual really - patron upset about holds so I spent hours on the phone and looking for a missing book, and of course the jam-handed children running and messing with everything. The joys of the library. For some reason I keep coming back. But I enjoy it.

If there was no conflict or stress then the job would be boring and that's not what I'm looking for in life. I enjoy the variety of people and problems that come across my desk. Keeps me on my toes. The joys of public service.

Speaking of joys, have I mentioned how much I love working with my trainee? I haven't thought up a suitable nickname yet, but she's fantastic. Catches on quickly but asks when she needs something. Plus she's highly amusing and we get along well.

I feel special, they trust me alone with a trainee. For a whole day. Until Superwoman shows up to cover for me going to lunch. If you call 4-5 lunch. Supper? or do you say "Dinner"? In our house it was always Dinner at noon and Supper at night. There was no such thing as lunch. "Lunch" started when I went to a dorm high school when it was on a physical schedule. I should move on before I start talking about projects from college about language and linguistics.

That was pretty much my day. Other than coming home to watch NCIS. Oh my god, you know when you're watching something and you recognize the character's voice but their face is completely different? Duuuude. Guest-starring Charlie's freaking Angel herself, Cheryl Ladd. Although I didn't know that at first, I just picked up on it when she was hitting on Ducky and there was something about her voice. Yelled out "Kris Munroe!" when I figured it out - just adds to my neighbors probable on-going tally on my crazy sudden outbursts about completely random things. But she looks soooo different. But it's not like plastic surgery different. She's got a few years difference between now and the 70's plus brown hair. That's what threw me off.
Not that I should put much stock in hair color, I mean, look who's talking really. I don't even remember my natural color. We attempted to dye it back senior year of high school when I did "Arsenic and Old Lace" yeah, took forever and didn't last long. I was back to red as soon as the play was over.

Overall I'd give the episode a 7/10 purely because of Charlie's freakin' Angel. She was really the only thing I'll take away from it. I was hoping for a more Halloween theme - they usually have some good ones, have you seen "Murder 2.0" from season six? Duuuude, attempted to watch that at night in the dark once and couldn't do it. Still can't. AND I KNOW WHO DID IT!

Alright, that's enough of my ramblings for the night. Thank you for putting up with them night after night. Afterall, it's almost been a year now. Wow. Should probably do something to celebrate that, huh?

All I wanna do is have some fun. I got a feeling I'm not the only one.

Today's Highlights:
-Staff meeting in the morning. Had my juice and cereal so it rocked.
-Put up my display - totally proud, doing a Remember 9/11 one since it's been ten years.
-Finished yet another list. Deserved ice cream but went to see a movie instead.

-Took the Squirt out for sushi and to see "Crazy Stupid Love" (Steve Carell, Julianne Moore, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone) and it was fantastic. 9/10 on the Scale of Awesome.

Carell is married to Moore who wants a divorce and cheated on him so he drinks away his troubles in a bar where he meets Gosling who takes it upon himself to make Carell a man again. Basically extreme makeover's him and all that. But it's hysterical. Like a fairy godfather or something.
Plus there's a bunch of other love plots surrounding all the characters.
With special appearances by Marisa Tomei, Kevin Bacon, Josh Groban, Analeigh Tipton, Agent Lee... okay Liza Lapira but I call her Agent Lee no matter what movie/tv show she's in. It's NCIS. Long story.

-Then while driving home....well, okay. Here's a story. Originally I wanted to be a teacher. I was in the Ed program and all that but I dropped it because I realized that my teaching methods were not something that you would want your child to learn from. I'm more of a learn-from-my-mistakes kind of a person. Because, that's how I was taught. By my brother anyway.
Here was my first driving lesson. I'm sitting passenger while he's driving down the highway and he says, "I just did three illegal things. What were they?" Yeah. That was my brother teaching me how to drive.
So, this is how I teach the Squirt.
Lesson number 1. When drunk frat guys pull up next to you while driving and they're screaming and sticking their heads out the window, DO NOT wink and give them The Nod, or they will continue to drive next to you for miles, stop next to you at the stoplight even though there is 40 feet between them and the car in front of them, and continue to yell things out the window. It's better just to not acknowledge those kind of things.
So, don't do it. See, that's how I teach. You don't like it, don't send your kids to me.
But it was amusing. And she kept freaking out cause it lasted for miles.
So. Keep your eyes on the road while driving. Don't acknowledge the crazy. The crazy will only get worse.

NCIS Season 8 - fantastic! Scale of Awesome says 10/10 and I'm only one disc in - of course I've already seen the whole thing but that's not the point. It's got great storylines - cases that haven't already been used by other crime shows - fantastic characters - Gibbs, Ziva, Kate, Tony, McGee, Abby, Ducky even Palmer everyone of them is unique with their own quirks - even excellent sets - this show is pure awesomeness on air. I highly suggest you check it out Tuesday nights on CBS, or pick up one of the seasons on DVD at the library.


Speaking of the library - had a big day at ours today. There was this big ribbon-cutting ceremony thing with speeches and all that - even a giant pair of scissors. That was sweet.

Today felt super busy even though it was only 9-5. Yes, only. But shelved and boxed up books all morning then had some lunch, huzzah for mint chip ice cream, then got all registered for the NLA conference - aka Nebraska Library Association not the National Limousine Association or the Lawyers Association, Lipid Association,...what other ones did I get when I Googled the page I was trying to find....oh! how about the Nine Lives Association? Real deal.
But I'm going because they're having this session on life during and after the MLS and since that's what I'm getting I thought it would be cool to go and listen to what they have to say. But that's not until like October, so got a while to plan.

Or, how about the National Lime Association?

Another tip I learned today - try going shopping when you really have to go to the bathroom. It'll save you time and money cause all you want to do is grab the essentials and get the heck out of there. I always buy a bunch of junk that I really don't need. Might use that strategy in the future.

Newspaper Licensing Agency. I hate that word licensing. I always spell it wrong. I feel like I'm spelling it wrong now. Maybe I should google that too.

Okay, enough time has elapsed at this point to where, I think I can talk about this stuff. If you haven't seen the finales at this point either you don't watch the show or you just don't care how the season ended. So, this post will most likely be filled with spoilers to various tv show finales. Aka NCIS, Bones, Castle and Criminal Minds. So, if you haven't seen the finales and plan on watching them online or something you should skip this post. Or at least skip to the bottom.

What was it, the year of death?! Dude! Even on Glee! I'm wondering if the different networks have some sort of meeting and decide on a theme. Like, let's make everyone happy this year and unite the love interests or let's kill someone off that everybody loves so they tune in next year just to see how we can screw up next!

NCIS - Okay, so you knew it was going to be a big episode after the mystery eye opened MTAC. Seriously. But did they have to kill off Mike Franks?! I totally cried. I like him. Couldn't they have killed Trent Kort instead? As sad as it was the funeral scene was still pretty cool with Gibbs and all the Navy stuff. Speculation for next season: Tony investigating Gibbs. Cause, I mean, who else is he going to investigate? They've already done enough to Ziva, Tim doesn't really have a secret past and with Gibbs there's endless material. Plus he's having that sort-of feud with Vance lately. He's suspicious of his past or something, there's gotta be some kind of retaliation. Right?


Bones - Um, can I just say FINALLY! Emily Deschanel is actually pregnant so we knew somehow that had to come into play. I didn't think this would be the kind of show to hide her behind lab tables, although there would be plenty. Oh my god, could you imagine having pregnancy hormones and morning sickness on that set? There's a disgusting and decomposing dead body in every episode! (Well, minus the live victim from this season) I'm sad they didn't give us more details about Booth and Bones.
Speculation: Is Angela going to start bringing her baby to work or is there going to be some sort of daycare center at the lab? Next year's gonna be awesome. let's leave it at that.


Castle - Big episode! and finally for Castle and Beckett too! even though she's like dying and all that. But they can't kill her off because then they wouldn't have a show.
Speculation: When they told us someone was going to die this season I immediately jumped to Montgomery. The captain is always the one that gets killed off or leaves. And, because Hollywood is cliche, I'm sure he'll be replaced by a strong female character that Kate hates. Bones, Saving Grace, and NCIS all did it already.
-Bones had Cam, who thankfully turned out to be awesome. She replaced Dr. Goodman who I still refer to as "Ed" no matter what he's in because he played Claire's husband Ed in Women's Murder Club. Just like Claire will always be Claire even though she plays Vance's wife on NCIS and a victim's wife on Bones and a cop on Criminal Minds and the chick in the census commercials, yeah, yeah, I know, Move On, I've heard it all.
-Anyway, then there was Lt. Kate Perry on Saving Grace who took over when their old captain got shot in the head in the squadroom only a couple episodes in. The squad of course loved their old captain but Grace had a history with Kate so they got along fine.
-NCIS had Jenny Shepherd ascend to the director spot after the first/second season's dude, who we saw in maybe 10 episodes out of the 2 seasons he was supposed to be the director, retired. That was controversy even though she was pretty kickass.
-Even with The Closer Brenda Leigh was parachuted over all their heads and they hated her. We loved her but they hated her. Now they love her too. Soon she'll be leaving and replaced by someone else as well in the spinoff. And that's gotta be a female lead as well since it's got soooo many male cast members, unless they're leaving too. There's gonna be a lot of pressure for that spinoff since the Closer is so popular. Few spinoffs are as good as the originals. Law and Order SVU is better than the original, but that's just my opinion. And Sketch's. Plus technically, NCIS was introduced through an episode of Jag so I guess you could call that a spinoff. Oh, and what was with that Finder episode of Bones? Totally and completely random. Is that going to be a spinoff as well? They've got the big actors for it so I wouldn't be surprised.


Criminal Minds - Okay, I couldn't resist. Technically this is a spoiler for next season instead of the finale as I didn't watch anything from this season. With good reason. You take away the good main characters to fund a crappy spinoff that was going to fail anyway and the fans protest. And it works!

TAKE THAT, CREATIVE REASONS! AJ/JJ and Paget/Prentiss back on CM, Awesomeness! Now I can start watching again. Totally stoked. Now all we need is a new contract for Thomas and we're golden. He's the only one who isn't officially signed on my next season.
Speculation: Gotta kill off Doyle to get Prentiss back. He's the reason they faked her death and she went underground. Only JJ and Hotch know - although, they're a group of profilers so I wouldn't be surprised if some of them don't already know as well. And if they didn't...then they're probably just going to be pissed they weren't told. Morgan especially.
yeah yeah, i didn't watch the show but i read up on it as the season went on, had to know what was going on with the characters i still liked. temporarily felt sad for the temp actress when i read her twitter but i'm past that. AJ/JJ and Paget/Prentiss returning trump any bad emotion left behind from last season.


Felt I should do this now as I haven't really posted posted in a while. Minus the cough medicine night it's mostly just been the highlights and then I'm going to bed now because I have to work and do more homework. Which will pretty much sum up my upcoming week as well. Monday is work then Saltdogs game, huzzah! Tuesday is work then homework then more work, Wednesday is work then teen program for class then WICKED! HUZZAH to that! gonna have to brush up on my wizard of oz beforehand. Thursday is work plus homework and Friday is work plus homework plus finalized posting of all homework. Then Saturday is the last class we have to show up for. Next week we're just posting stuff online by Saturday. I think. Will have to look into that.

Which is handy if something bad happens and you need someone to blame it on. But also kind of sucks when people think you're them when you're actually not. Anyway, if you think you know me from pre-2010 and you aren't from my hometown, a member of my family, classmate or campmate then you probably don't. This makes things like parking garages awkward. No I don't know you. No I didn't go to that high school. While my short-term memory is crap (ask my non-school friends) my long-term actually doesn't suck.
I'm totally serious about this, and I know I have one because my high school classmate lived in the same dorm as her in college. She rides a bike which clearly screams Not me! since I haven't ridden a bike since Dad decided to steal my tire and use it as a turn-the-wheel game at the home and garden show like 8 years ago. Actually, I think he used the tire because I wasn't riding the bike, but I like my version better. I went away to high school! And college! When was I supposed to ride a bike? Plus, bikes, on gravel? Not as fun.

And yes that NCIS clip was necessary, I could have posted the entire episode "Doppelganger" from when Kate was still around but I figured that would be too long. It's a fantastic episode but this is from season three, when Jenny was alive and had long hair.


So, I'm watching Star Wars episode 5. Last night the Wordsmith and me ordered pizza and watched episode 4 - mostly because I wanted to watch out for the anecdotes Carrie Fisher talked about in her autobiography. So I have yet to watch Country Strong - "Gwyneth" word count = 1 "Those t-shirts would be so Gwyneth!" - Also because I can't remember how Leia figures out she and Luke are siblings. I'm a nerd but not like a total crazy obsessed nerd. I remember how Luke finds out he's Vader's son - duh - but not about Leia and Luke. I just remember her kissing him in beginning episode 5. Was she like, "That was so bad, he must be my brother." Which reminds me - I was at the dentist a couple months ago and the dentist was like, "So (insert brother's name) is your husband?" I believe my exact words were, "Um, gross." "Brother. Got it." My sister-in-law goes to a different dentist so I guess since we have the same last name it would sort of make sense? Gross.

Ha! there's this episode of Ace of Cakes where they're talking about the Millennium Falcon inside the asteroid. "If you think you're in a giant worm, shoot the ground!" That's where I'm at now. And, okay, some time between episode 3 and episode 5 Yoda went bonkers.

My coworkers are cooler than your coworkers...

What brought this back is that apparently, people think I'm nuts because I would rather work than do something else. Some are joking and some are boyfriends who are upset by my priority choices. But seriously, how often can you find coworkers who will pretend to be your girlfriend to make the creepers go away, or give you their happy meal toys, or form a fake band, or make up slogans to wear on matching tshirts, or go along with your crazy nickname system, or turn super protective when something goes wrong? When you're able to go to work and actually not mind the fact that you're at work instead of at home sleeping - that's when you know that you found somewhere you belong. Anyway, if you still don't understand and think my priorities are skewed then that just proves my point. You don't have coworkers as cool as mine.

Moving on.

Okay, so I had this major update to a new ipod recently since I have too much music to fit in an 8GB one. Sad, I know. So, instead of just 1500 songs now I have over 4000 and counting. I'm feeling a bit like Abby right now when she buys ipods for everyone on NCIS and Gibbs says he only listens to 5. She's like only 5000? Here I'll find it.


Anyway, since there's an increase in songs on the ipod there's also an increase in skippage aka putting it on shuffle and skipping songs until I get to one I actually listen to frequently. I mean, I listen to all of them but there are certain like contexts for each song... If that makes sense. Like sometimes you don't want to listen to a song, not because you don't like it, you're just not in the mood for it. Anyway, my point is, I found a few songs that I not only never skip but constantly put the thing on repeat and listen to them over and over. And I know I've done favorite songs day during favorites week My Life in Closed Captions: These are a few of my favorite things - Day One: M... (yes I will overload you with links in this post) so I'm limiting these to songs that have only come out recently (or semi-recently). I'm pretty sure I've posted at least half of these before, oh well.


Song 1: Since You've Been Gone - no not Kelly Clarkson or Aretha but Theory of a Deadman.

This was my first music rec ever on here (well that and Ashlyne Huff's "Heart of Gold") way back in January...My Life in Closed Captions: Happy , Happy New Year! Hooray for Apples to Apples.


Song 2: "Something Good Can Work" Two Door Cinema Club

This is a total jam out song, I'm diggin it. Loving these guys (despite that they look like they're 12), and iTunes for giving it to me for free. iTunes' free music each week isn't actually all that bad, especially for indie stuff.


Song 3: Back at Your Door - Maroon 5

Why my new relationships never work. Kind of a theme song for me actually. Which is why it goes on repeat.


Song 4: Somebody to Love - Glee version of Queen

Loving this version, and the choreography is excellent as always.


Song 5: Lover Lover - Jerrod Neimann

Pretty sure this one has everything to do with the deep voice. It's like Josh Turner all over again.


Song 6: Forget You - Glee version of Cee-Lo Green

If you're only going to watch one of these videos make it this one. Gwyneth is amazing. She's like Cher or Ellen - she doesn't even need a last name, I'm gonna start a campaign! I'll call it the "Gwyneth needs no last name campaign" . Rhymes and everything. She's so talented and so funny that there can only be one word to describe her awesomeness: "Gwyneth". You could use it as an adjective like as in, "That outfit is so Gwyneth! Like oh my god!" She's someone who can actually pull off something like naming her child "Apple" and I'm okay with it. (Look it up I'm not making that up). I'm doing it. I'll start a trend. "Gwyneth" is going to be my word of the week. Don't question the "Gwyneth".
I don't know about you, but I'm totally making the Wordsmith watch "Country Strong" with me tonight. He's used to my chick flicks anyway.

Okay, honorable mentions that are basically great songs but I've posted them too recently and I don't want to bore you with repetition. "Misery" (Glee version) "Raise Your Glass" (also Glee version or Pink's really either is fantastic) "How" (Maroon 5) "She's Not There" (Glee version or the Zombies original classic) "Safety Dance" (okay a lot of these are Glee versions but I'm a soundtracks kind of girl) "We Used to be Friends" (Dandy Warhols) and "Blackbird" (Glee version, I love the Beatles but I'm loving the updated acapella style).


The Wordsmith is bringing food and I'm thinking movie night then crash cause early mornings (like todays) are totally exhausting.

Okay, so you know when you wake up in the middle of the night thinking it's actually past noon and then almost call your boss before you look outside and realize it's still the middle of the night? Then wake up a couple of hours later thinking that that night is actually the next night when you have to be at work early? Then when you wake up, when you're actually supposed to wake up, you see you have a voicemail from your boss and totally freak out thinking that either you actually did call your boss at 2AM or are missing the new systems training you were supposed to show up early for? You know? Show of hands? Anyone? Nope, probably just me.

But, thankfully the call was just about covering for someone who called in sick so I was very relieved. After work (I actually got off semi early) I hit up Barnes and Noble then Target. Then caught up on my shows, Harry's Law, Castle, now it's NCIS and dude! don't go down a dark alley just to take a closer look at a talking doll. Run, Run away!

Tomorrow means early training at work, but I'm off at 2! Then I can come home and nap.

Stars, golden stars!

There was this professor in college who gave us this assignment that wasn't really followed up on, it was just in the syllabus and not mentioned in class so when we showed up for class that day she was like, "did anyone write the paper?" and a few of us raised our hands and she replied, "Stars! Golden stars!" then moved on. It was hysterical. Didn't even collect the papers. I think it was like a one page essay or something so not that big of a deal but it was hilarious and that line has just kind of stuck with me.

Today was fantastic. The day actually started on a high note, my Glee-loving boss and Space Cadet said I deserved a gold star for shifting books - we had this big hole in the 613 section aka health and wellness so I moved books so there wasn't a gap, and like every freaking book fell on me cause I'm a klutz and I could just hear everyone at the desk giggling with every book that fell on me. But I got to show off my handywork today to Space Cadet since it's finished and my Glee-loving boss literally stuck a gold star on my forehead. I felt special. But I moved it to my nametag since I had this weird feeling that this would be the day when someone like my sister would come in just out of nowhere and be like, why is there a gold star on your forehead?

Then at the other branch, Boss's boss's boss told me I did good yesterday at the meeting. Almost jumped for joy but held it in as that would probably be unprofessional. Anyway, got to see my favorite patron and we talked about going to the derby in a couple of weeks then had a lot of fun with my coworkers. They're all great, I love the staff at both places really. They are a major reason I love my job. Jobs.

Think I'm gonna catch up on my missed shows from this week, I love Hulu it's fantastic. Not sure if they were new though, I did get to watch Castle which was hilarious, special guest star central seriously. So basically just going to have to see if Harry's Law or NCIS was new. I know Glee wasn't. And I think I missed Bones for a couple of weeks now so will have to look into that. Yay for a slow and relaxing night, that's new.
