I could write a blog. I have thoughts.

Life size Angry Birds anyone?

You know it's gonna be a weird day when you wake up to this conversation:

*talking about giving iPads to grandkids for Xmas*
Oldest Sister: "I just hope [CK] doesn't decide to pop one out so she gets an iPad."
Second Sister: "I hope she does."
Oldest Sister: "Me too, let's talk to [the boyfriend]."
Mom: "I'll get her one.....An iPad, not a kid."
Second Sister: "Tessa needs a cousin playmate. Whoever steps up to the plate will be my fave."
Mom: "Ain't gonna be me."
Oldest Sister: "I would love to be your fave but I'm too old to puke for 9 months."
Mom: "You are not too old though, I can tell you that for sure!"

she says cause she had me when she was older than Oldest Sister is now.

This is what you wake up to when you teach your mother how to text.

Ah, the joys of family.

I think I helped like 25 people today.

Tops.

Sundays are slow, except for the computer lab. That was hopping.

It was mostly quiet, a screaming kid every couple hours or so but that was it.

Which makes it a good day for scheduling.

Drafting a schedule for next school year's TAB.

Any ideas throw them my way.

I'm thinking...life size angry birds.

Thoughts?

Okay, maybe for Camp J.

We have the space and resources.

No, I came up with a lot of ideas, whether the teens like them or not I guess I'll find out in the fall.

I'm very democratic when it comes to the schedule - the first meeting I present them with my ideas, they give me theirs and we debate as to what we want to do for that year. If there's a tie they make a case and then we vote again.

Last year we did:
the artwork project - decorating the young adult area, made our own bookmarks, etc.
world kindness day - apple juice and crafts hosted at the home branch
the holiday party - apples to apples, pizza, ice cream
scavenger hunt - my design, trivia about the library mixed in with physical scavenger hunt
read across america - dr. seuss celebration at the mall, local celebrities reading, tv crews all over

along with the regular paperback processing party, volunteer recognition, and the kickoff.

plus the hunger games and cosplay parties that the other branches hosted. think it's our turn to host, gonna have to come up with something good.

Upcoming year I'm thinking:
Game Day - board and video
Movie Night - something teen related
Poetry Slam - theirs or something published
Open Mic Night - karaoke, stand up
Holiday Party - they liked this and want it continued
Cupcake Decorating - book themed or otherwise
Pop Culture Trivia Night - just cause it sounds fun

amongst other things.

Tomorrow I go in 4-6.

But hopefully that will change to 2-4.

And then in future weeks I'll just take a half hour lunch.

We only work 6 hours on Sundays so we have to make up the 2 hours during the week.

Originally I set it up so I would be there for the 2 hours that Squirt volunteered but since she's busy and can't come in anymore now it's just obnoxious timing.

Cause you can't really do anything or go anywhere.

Half hour lunches will be easier.

Though less Wipeout will be watched.

But it's either that or going in early.

And you know me and mornings.

Anyway, 2 hours of work tomorrow afternoon.

Hoping to do something with the boyfriend tomorrow night.

Get dinner, see a movie, whatever.

Right now I'm exhausted so I'm gonna crash.

Songs of the day:

cause it was stuck in my head after hearing it on the way to work....

I Saw Her Again - the Mamas and the Papas

grew up listening to these guys and still love them.

i've always been curious about 2:43. was that intentional or did they just not have the time to re-record it?

cause i can't believe it's been almost 3 years and I haven't already posted it...

Black Velvet - Alannah Myles

i don't know how i have not already posted this as it is one of my favorite classic songs.

love the original music video.

think the guys in her band have longer hair than she does.

And no one's getting fat except mama cass.

Which is more pathetic? 1. Realizing that you've already seen all the episodes of Swamp People that Dad has DVR'd throughout the week or 2. Watching them again anyway when he's not even around to make you watch them?
It's fantastic.

So, I had this hat. It was awesome. Titans hat - dark blue with titans in light blue and the red logo around it. Simple and comfortable and awesome and I wore it almost everyday for years before it mysteriously disappeared - conspiracy theory says mom was tired of it and hid it, i'm still convinvced it's somewhere in the house - but it was my hat. I loved it. My brother gave it to me for Christmas the same year he gave me my long sleeved Yankees shirt - which he said brought him physical pain, he's not a fan - and I seriously did wear it almost every day. Anyway, so I've been trying to not replace the hat but find one like it for years, doesn't necessarily have to be a Titans one but it has to be similar and I've had all kinds of hats. They're all great in some way, but they're not the same. The irony is, that without even trying I found one just like it. Same style and fit - yes I'm a nerd. And yeah, it was a fluke. I bought the shirt/hat combo for the shirt, put on the hat and went whooooaaa.... Yes, I'm a nerd. It's even dark blue, huzzah! This time it's a baseball one but I like it, and I'm diggin' it, and I'm gonna wear it. And this time Mom can't hide it when she gets sick of it, yay!

Okay, so I totally need a lowjack on all my stuff. I lose everything - no I didn't lose the hat - It drives me nuts. This weekend it was my license, my debit card and my ring - all were found, but in the meantime I was going bananas. Someone needs to invent like a lowjack for all things valuable that when you press a button the object will either show itself or if it's somewhere else it will be transported through space to where you are. That would be awesome.

Today was great, got to sleep in then met up and finished our post-camp stuff. I'm done for 6 months! Totally stoked! Now I can get back to the whole work and school all the time thing. Huzzah! But got to see the gang again - well most of them - and this time school was in session so we saw them out at recess. They were playing capture the flag and one of my favorites comes up and says "every time I tag one of the little ones they act like I killed them" cause he's an 8th grader and they're not. You know, small children and all that. It was amusing. Even more amusing was G-Wigger's team's come from behind victory all because of a well-timed bathroom break.

"Creeque Alley"

another song played often at camp

There are rare moments when my father - the music genius for anything from the 1940's to the early 80's - talks to me about music and I actually remember something about it the next day - this one is one of them. (Not that it's not interesting, it just happens that often and they all kind of look alike). This group has totally intrigued me with the drama and the sound and the story - if you get a chance you should look up some of their history, it's a great story. This kind of tells the basics, if you know enough of the references to be able to interpret it.

Tomorrow's split shift, think I'm gonna turn on Warehouse and crash.

"She goes for the money, boo-goosh! Sues him for it!"
"What kind of women do you date?"

"Those are gonna be some weirdass dreams..."

Camp J 2010 quote from my awesome cousin - there's more of a story to it actually but it involves port-a-potties in the dark with only a flashlight and it was awkward so we were talking and she was like "They can probably hear us talking." (about the kids) so I said "We're just commentary in their dreams" and she replied "Those are gonna be some weirdass dreams..." It made the song...which I have yet to post here, will have to work on that.
Be prepared for a massive post.

Today was excellent, we were really busy so it flew by and it was just a fun day. There were so many people because it's soooo nice outside. And everyone was in a good mood, so it made the day exciting. Even more exciting is that I'm only in the morning tomorrow, then I get to spend the rest of the day with some of my family playing TMNT/MarioKart/Just Dance and eating crab legs. I know you're all super jealous.

But, when I showed up for work today, all I could think about was this dream I had last night. Which I didn't remember - even though I put them in my phone - until I entered the building. Because it was about work. Well, sort of. Basically, myself and two male coworkers broke into song in the middle of the work day at the desk. And the song happened to be "Roll out the barrel"... Fantastic, right?! Anyway, the dream just felt like this big musical which made walking up to that desk almost comical this morning. Thankfully, the two male coworkers who were singing with me weren't there today so I wouldn't have to explain to them why I was laughing hysterically when I saw them. Just because it's not a very them kind of thing to do. Which makes it even funnier.
Anyway, so when I was on break I was reading through my dream log thing (I don't know what else to call it) that I keep in the notes section of my phone. It's basically just what the dream was about and if I can remember any of the lines or whatever, so that when I'm really bored I read them and try to remember. Some of the more recent ones are really funny - I'm not sure what's causing that. But some memorable ones are:
-"Isn't everything better with a call number?" I think that's one of my favorites but I don't remember who said it, probably Superwoman
-"Put a doily on top" yeah I don't remember that one at all
-"There are two dead bodies under the bed." "It's your bed!" yeah, don't remember that either but it sounds exciting!
-"Daniel eats worms" that one doesn't surprise me as much since he's a boy in grade school and you never know (one of my kids from the musicals, speaking of should probably start work on that soon)
-"Boys singing pirates sent to wrong place for initiation" ....hmmm....???
-"Let's say I do believe you and he did kick you in the head which he clearly didn't, where's the mark?" That's another one of my favorites
-"I'm single Abby, I'll do it." Um? Curious... some of these I really wish I could remember
Okay this one is poetic in a creepy way - "Sometimes I want to reflect myself in bed, lean against my head, split myself in two, for the aftermath of you." ???
-"Well, I'm definitely not his mother!" I'm just not gonna comment on that one
-"Ma! Turn your ringer down!" This one I remember! George from Seinfeld was yelling to his mother over her ringing phone...but that's all I remember
-"How did you meet?" "Camp J. We hated each other, then we started dating." Another one I want to remember.
-"Someone had to step in and teach these children good literature!!" that one just gives me flashbacks to my Children's Lit class in college
hahahahaha I'm scared - "Satan has a thing for redheads..."
-"Are we going to get in trouble?" "Just tell them you were the one waving the flag." I remember that one!! I don't remember what the trouble was about but I remember asking Superwoman if we were going to be in trouble and that was her answer.
here's another poetic one - "You say that you love me but you don't really care. You say that you love me but you are never there. You say that you love me you're always in my head. You say that you love me, I don't care, get out of my bed." hahaha
-"Why Wyatt Erp?" "It's a good name!" someone was naming their kid, can't remember who
-"Jimmy Fallon as santa sesame street xmas crossword writer mean." what?!
-"Go with your gut Agent Larkin" WHO IS AGENT LARKIN?!
-"I can kick some ass if you want. It's twice as funny when they're taken down by a woman." All I remember about that one was that it was Amanda Bynes who said it and we were standing in a Dollar General. I did mention these were weird dreams, right?
-"You sure you want to sit with me?" "I've been here before, we'll get out alive, I promise." I remember in that one I was totally kickass and took down some dudes
-"Have I really only been complaining about this one year?" this was when I dreamed that they had camp moved onto the top of a giant ice sculpture, I have no idea why.
-"That's not dad, I promise you I saw him earlier. I know where he is." "Is he at Elaine's?" "No he's dead." This one was like the scariest dream I've had in a while, these people came to the farmhouse, killed dad, then went to kidnap mom but I intercepted them and they played his voice over a recorder thing telling her to go with them but it was like one of the voice changer things.
-"I fight for the microfilm reel and run" hmmm...work?
-"Are you in town for the Telli convention?" "No, are you in it?" "Yes." "How is it?" "Awful but great." What's a telli convention?
-"My family has an obsession with cards and Criminal Minds" I remember really really liking that one but that's all I remember
Then there's just one that says "old family relatives singing at night" I don't exactly know what to think about that one.

YES I KNOW I DREAM A LOT, get over it.

Anyway, moving on

I grew up kind of a the Mamas and the Papas nut. I know a lot about them, mostly because I think the whole romance, cheating, then more romance thing was kind of funny. I think maybe I'm a little more interested in classic music because of the age gap in my family. I grew up on the Beatles and the Beach Boys, and Aretha and all that. But I listened to this song and "Dedicated the the one I love" every night before I went to bed for like a year. Seriously. I just love this song - and that one - and thought it was fitting for the post.

Quote of the day comes from a work-friend: "It's 2011, you can't just go getting married all willy-nilly!"

Hope you all have a great night.
