Finally watched Man of Steel.
Scale of Awesome says 6/10.
I love comic book movies, but I'm not really a big Superman fan. Plus the fight scenes in this one seemed eternal.
I know they need to be epic, but they ended up just dragging on.
Now I'm on to Lost Girl.
SyFy series.
Reminds me of Blood Ties.
Private Eye, quirky goth sidekick, focus investigations on the supernatural...
But no vampires so far.
Oh, and they're both Canadian series.
Hm.
This one's pretty fun, but I think I liked Blood Ties a little better.
However, I'm only like a disc in so that could change.
I'm so excited for this weekend.
I'm off. And I have no homework or projects hanging over my head so I can legitimately sleep in and watch movies without feeling guilty.
Plus there's a hockey game tomorrow night.
Gonna be awesome.
That's all I got. Don't really remember anything about work.
Other than sending a guy to jail.
Oh yeah.
Dude from the incident yesterday came in and I recognized him so we called the cops who picked him up.

i can be late for a date that's fine but you better be on time.
Ah, a day off.
But I was actually quite productive.
Slept in, awesomeness.
Okay, so that wasn't very productive, but I got better.
Went out to lunch with Mom. Stopped by to see Grams on our way to lunch, she was having a good day so we jammed for a while.
Got chicken fried steak plus hashbrowns and eggs - is chicken-fried steak just a hick thing or do other cultures deep fry anything just because they can too? And I got a slice of pie as well, gotta love small local businesses.
Took half of it home, thinking about pulling it out now.
After lunch we went shopping for a bookcase - a big one.
Cause librarians accumulate books.
Even though you can get them for free every day you will buy them anyway.
But I have piles of them everywhere and it keeps expanding.
This one is massive and I'm proud to say I put it all together myself.
It may have taken me like 3 hours to figure out that whole cam-lock system but it's complete.
Even with Carter attempting to sabotage me.
I had to keep going into the kitchen so he'd follow me - cause when I go in there he thinks he's getting food - and get off my shelves.
Then I'd come back and he'd sit on it again.
You laugh but it's true.
Hostile takeover.
Reading Directions
Almost caved in.
Before this whole sabotage thing I went to watch my niece play softball. She struck a girl out, threw out another and stole a bunch of bases so I was proud.
I remember playing on that field - and what's funny is that I recognized all of their cheers.
It was in that moment that it all made sense - I was on that team like 15 years ago.
I mean, we were the Slammers, not the Heat, and we had difference coaches but it's the same small town team in the same league and we did all those cheers so they must have been passed down through generations.
Which made me feel old, but that's true for all my nieces and nephews.
Speaking of which, my nephew is now officially taller than me.
And his sister.
Who's also very tall.
He's so excited.
And that was my day in a nutshell.
Well, that and a foosball table.
Remember how I mentioned earlier about maybe having the parentals store it?
Mom came up with the suburban and we had to carry it down - awkwardly - the stairs.
Though that wasn't as bad as the bookcase which was heavier and longer so corners were awkward.
There, THAT was my day.

okay, I forgot to add that finished season one of Blood Ties.

Back to Blood Ties.
Still on season one.
Need to finish this so I can move on to season two and then return them both.
Had them for like 2 months now.
Gotta love Interlibrary Loans.
Though I may just end up buying them off Amazon.

"we don't all belong to the same book club."
It's an amusing series.
Though not inspiring enough to make me want to read the novels.
There's just something about vampire books that I can't get into.
I blame Twilight and Bella's immediate fascination after two pages of Edward.
We had to read the first book for class.
She knew him for like 2 days and was already, "i'll die for him" and all that crap.
It was repulsive.
Vomitrocious one would say.
Well, a friend of mine would anyway.
So today was fun.
Got to work at the home branch with the new supervisor and the new aide.
The one I was hired along with 3 years ago finally quit and has a new job.
Speaking of 3 years, yeah, it's officially been 3 years as of yesterday that I've worked for the library system.
And on the 24th it'll be 3 years at the work branch.
It was nice to go back to the relaxation that is the home branch and its usual patrons.
Except it wasn't relaxing for long as the computers would turn themselves off after about 15 minutes into each session.
That made for a fun morning.
But I was off at 2 so it wasn't that long of a day.
Tomorrow is gonna be a weird one as well, work the morning then camp meeting in the afternoon.
Sending out our application letters, woohoo!
We always have fun, even if it's doing the mundane task of folding letters and stuffing them in envelopes.
But we're goofballs.
And now we're excited goofballs cause application letters going out means camp season is officially upon us.
I've already gotten 2 applications in the mail - you can always tell when the pastors get them cause their kids send theirs back immediately.
We actually mail out individual application forms to everyone who went the previous year and then out to the churches as well to attract more kids.
So that's Saturday, and I'm off on Sunday and Monday so for Mother's Day I told Mom I would clean her house.
Cause that's all she wanted.
Alright, I'm zonked.
Gonna crash.

i do it quite often.
both SoundHound-ing things and looking through my history to find stuff to post.
it's quite handy when you can't remember the name of a song or want to know what year it came out.

We are not the B-Team! Fool, we are the second A-Team!
Saw this today.
Watch it and tell me you're not intrigued.
I dare you.

Aw Claudia, how I've missed you and your snarky remarks.
No, seriously you should watch the clip. It's a great show, totally underrated though it is gaining speed.
Got a bunch of library friends hooked.
But how can you resist?
Though now every time I see anything by HG Wells I picture Jaime Murray instead of an old dude with a mustache.
Which makes library life interesting.
Not that it's not already interesting.
Take today, the work branch closed early because of a water leak.
Didn't really matter to me though as I wasn't there anyway.
Today was our annual volunteer recognition banquet.
Got a panic text from Superwoman asking me to go over early and cover for her.
Spent the majority of the time setting up tables, putting out chairs, napkins, programs, silverware, and staring longingly at the food - it's catered like cheesecake and chocolate and fruit and all that. Got a whole plateful and ate it whilst listening to speeches.
Lots of good speeches, the mayor - totally shook his hand - library director - aka Boss's Boss's Boss - and then our library board director.
Who I've talked to once.
Which was today.
Superwoman played emcee.
Joke of the day being her remembering what our volunteer tokens were called.
Sweat-free double-walled tumblers.
Looks like this complete with straw.
And she's allowed to cause she and I picked them out.
They are awesome.
I use my UNO one from the Cool Aunt all the time.
After the recognition I attempted to finish the homework I couldn't last night - see yesterday's post - cause their site was down.
Turns out it's still down.
And I wasn't the only one with issues, Maegan also commented on my post, along with one more and then I got an e-mail from a 4th asking if I'd heard anything.
Which I didn't.
So I just submitted everything with a note at the bottom and screenshot of the website when it was down.
Got an e-mail back from the prof saying she couldn't access it either so just to send it in and she would consult with the other prof.
Hoping we don't get docked for something that's not our fault.
Though the irony is that the question is something like go to Complete Planet and search for something you know a lot about. Are there databases listed that you've never seen before? Is Complete Planet worth checking again in the future.
Um, the answer to that right now, is no.
This assignment was much easier than the last one with all the census crap - yep, remember that one and the professor that hates me?
Though I can't decide if she still hates me or not.
She seems to be pleased with my work as of late.
So that's exciting I guess.
Aside from homework I've started watching Blood Ties.
He has some great moisturizer.
They're Canadian.
It's.
Weird.
But oddly entertaining.
I got the first two seasons from ILL.
2 discs in, we'll see where it goes.
Alright, on to the music and then I'm out.
