And I'm dying inside, and nobody knows it but me.

I mailed a letter this week.

Most nerve wracking document I've ever written.

Beating out COMPS, college term papers, applications to grad school, letters of recommendation for my teens, camp stuff.

Mostly because it's the most important thing I've written in a very long time. Possibly ever.

There's a reason I've been so focused on hockey and football and Disney music, and if you know me you probably already know what that reason is.

For those you who don't see me on a daily basis someone very important to me is sick and I'm not handling it very well.

I guess it's easier to focus on things like hockey and football, or spend four hours researching and posting Disney music than it is to face reality.

I've never been worried before because she's always been a fighter. No matter how many times it's come back she's fought it and won.

But it seems as though that's getting harder and harder.

I still have faith. I do. But it's a challenge. She's the best person I know. She doesn't deserve this.

I know she's not my mother, I have a wonderful mother, but outside of my immediate family I can't think of another person who's had as big of an impact on my life as her.

She's taught me everything from my ABC's to how to play guitar to how to run a camp to how to be a good person.

She's the whole reason I still do camp every year and without her there......I don't know. I don't want to think about it.

So I think about hockey. Last night's game rocked. Won it in a shootout. Ludvig Hoff is a stud. Can't believe they don't have peanuts anymore.

Or football. 5-0. Michigan State tonight. If we win we'll be top 10. If we lose I will be sad. Ameer is a stud. Hope Gregory doesn't leave us for the NFL.

Or Disney. Still can't believe my coworkers haven't seen The Little Mermaid. You can never be too old for Disney. Robin Hood and Sword in the Stone are my favorites. Unlike 99% of Americans I didn't like Frozen but I still think Idina Menzel is a stud. Can't believe they're making live action remakes. Well, I guess I can. But they better not be awful.

In summary: Living in a dream world is great, but sometimes you have to face reality and write letters to the important people in your life before it's too late. It also reminds me that I should take the time to thank the others who've had an impact on my life.

Gonna need some new stationary.

Otherwise known as my "Sketch and Edit Disney Rant" based off a friend's speech in college. 

Anyway, so I bought that on iTunes and have been singing Disney stuff nonstop ever since.

Which led to a conversation with a coworker about Poor Unfortunate Souls. And she had no idea what I was talking about.

Please tell me that you all have seen The Little Mermaid.

Because out of all the coworkers I asked today only one of them has.

And it makes me sad. Like, that's a classic!

Right?

Was it just my family that grew up watching Disney movies? Like all of the Disney movies? Even after we were kids?

Or am I just that young compared to my coworkers.

So, after listening to my Disney Pandora station (basically nonstop) I have decided to post my favorites.

For those of you cultured enough to have seen them already I hope you enjoy listening to them again.

For those of you who haven't seen them for some unknown reason WATCH THEM. They are classics.

Because there are thousands of Disney stuff out there I'm only including my favorites, meaning musicals.

Okay so they're not all musicals, but most of them are.

Since it's impossible to sort these in order of favoritism - there's too many good ones - I'm going by release date instead. I'll attempt to limit myself to one song per movie, but we both know that's not going to last.

Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs - Heigh Ho - 1937


which we got to sing at Trivia Night. well, it was more of a "Heigh Ho!" and then all lifted our adult beverages...Whistle While You Work was a close second, where are all those magical animals when I need someone to clean my apartment?


Cinderella - Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo - 1950


A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes is a close second, but I like this one better.


Peter Pan - You Can Fly - 1953


What Makes a Red Man Red came in second but it's not exactly PC. and I still don't know the answer to that question.


Lady and the Tramp - Bella Notte - 1955


i love the Glee cover of this song, it's fantastic. Siamese Cat Song came in second, but they creep me out.

okay, honestly this one and poor unfortunate souls are probably the songs i sing the most out of all these i will post. mostly when i'm doing laundry. i'm sure my neighbors love me.

Sword in the Stone - Higitus Figitus - 1963


i wish i could pack like that. i'm aware you probably don't know that one, but i love it. That's What Makes the World Go 'Round comes in a close second. (ps - if you're wondering which of these movies are my favorites, i know you're not actually, but it's a tie between this one and Robin Hood)


Mary Poppins - Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious - 1964


a old schoolmate of mine was asked once how to spell that on the radio (i mean he was asked, while on the radio) and his response was "it starts with an S and the rest is fluff." they gave him ice cream.

Spoonful of Sugar came in close second, especially after singing it over and over at camp thanks to the 3rd grade girls skit found here.


Jungle Book - I Wanna Be Like You - 1967


Bare Necessities comes in a very close second here, especially cause my sisters used it sing it all the time, but i have bad memories attached to that movie so i haven't watched it in a very long time. again, read the Sketch and Edit mentioned above.


Aristocats - Everybody Wants to be a Cat - 1970


Thomas O'Malley I love as well. how many characters did he voice, geez?


Robin Hood - The Phony King of England - 1973


a pox on the phony king of england. a tie for my favorite disney movie, but i think it just slightly edges out the Sword in the Stone. by like just a little.

yes indeed. how can you not love this song? or know it for that matter? it makes me sad.

All aboard the Babe Wagon!

You know how there are blah days and then there are really exciting days?

Today was one of the latter.

It all started with the Babe Wagon.

So the NLA - Nebraska Library Association - conference is coming up in October and Queen of the Known Universe and I have decided to carpool.

Since we need to be there by 8AM we'll have to leave at 5AM which means she's driving, cause clearly anything with me before 10 is questionable.

And, instead of driving her van 3 hours to the middle of nowhere, she has decided we should rent a pickup.

And not just any truck, a nice fancy one.

She's semi-obsessive about trucks, it's highly entertaining.

Combining this stylin' rental truck and our experiences this past week - aka getting hit on more than usual - The New Guy has dubbed it the "Babe Wagon".

Which we enjoy and have decided to chronicle our adventures with the Babe Wagon.

So look forward to that in October. I know I will.

The working title is "Adventures of the Babe Wagon" because if we were to call it "Adventures in the Babe Wagon" it might be taken as something else entirely.

We're thinking about getting t-shirts and having random men sign them with fake phone numbers.

1-800-CALL-ME!

and the like.

I'm sure Superwoman would LOVE us for that.

So most of the day - when we weren't swamped - we joked about the Babe Wagon.

Which made it quite the exciting day.

Add to that Mom - who is determined to remain the favorite staff mom - stopped by with cookies and fruit for the staff. We put them in the circ workroom and they were gone soon after.

So they were all thankful and she remains the favorite.


Plus the Library Judge and I had a conversation about the stereotypes of retired librarians.

We couldn't think of anything other than they get bored and become volunteers.

Which is true of one such retired librarian. :)


After work I came home, showered and vacuumed for reasons at work that will remain unexplained.

Then attempted to log-on to my online class for half an hour with no success.

Me, thinking it was just me having computer problems, started freaking out. Attempted calling both professors - to no avail - emailed them - to no avail - and then I thought, when in doubt, call the Library Goddess.

Cause she always knows what to do.

And yet again, she was the voice of reason saying: it's probably the site not your computer, give it time, don't freak out, you'll be fine.

And when the Library Goddess declares it to be fine then all is fine.

And she was right, it was the site not my computer, and the professor was able to email us a link that worked and we went from there.

It's so weird not having an assignment due for that class until September 22nd.

I'm too used to Summer classes when everything is due right away cause we only have a month.

Next up for me though is practicum paper #1 - we have one due at the end of each month - which is more of a progress report really. And then I think there's like a final final paper to sum it all up.

I'm sure I'll have even more to say after tomorrow.

And he came in today - which he does pretty much daily - and joked around with Superwoman.

I was helping a patron but I could hear my name and them laughing.

Which she does just cause I'm gullible.

Apparently cause I'm "sunny and happy" at the practicum I need to be "sunny and happy" at 9AM at work.

But, as previously mentioned, anything before 10AM is questionable. Which is why BossLady always schedules herself to be around if I'm scheduled to count money.

Just cause she knows about every 10 minutes she'll hear me yelling for her.

But I can't help it if it doesn't add up right.


So work was fun and class turned out okay, now Carter and I are watching Robin Hood.

The original animated movie from the 70's.

"Hiss! You're never around when I need you!"

This was always my favorite of the Disney movies.

Though I don't remember it being this depressing.

I've been watching a lot of Disney movies lately.

That clip from Little Mermaid over and over - scroll down a few posts, you'll find it - plus Sword in the Stone which is under-rated and awesome.

Though they all remind me of this particular Sketch and Edit.

See, people make fun of me for buying those gimic protection plans for headphones, but they don't realize how many pairs of earbuds I go through in a month.

Today I took in 2 broken sets after work and got them both replaced for free, huzzah!

I love Best Buy.

Though the Geek Squad's customer service is loathsome.

Like, I know you have lines of people and you're busy, but perhaps if you picked up the pace a bit or focused on your own customer instead of your coworkers 4 other customers you would get things done a little bit faster and in a more organized manner.

Was second in line, stood there for half an hour before anyone talked to me.

Makes me proud of our customer service skills at my library.

Which a lady mentioned to my supervisor today. Said I was much more patient and helpful than a different branch and that she was going to start coming to us instead.

Rock solid man.


So today...

Was good.

Flew by fast.

Did my final Library Golf preparations for tomorrow, now all that's left is to pick up the clubs, set up the holes and hope for the best.

I'm hoping that a lot of teens show up to participate.

But not like too many that will be overcrowded and overdramatic.

Or ones that think it's dumb and make fun of our arrangements.

I guess we shall see.


Other highlights include more training and special guest star visits from an old professor and the Authentically Amazing One and Only KB.

Whom I haven't seen in like months but we need a girls night.

Now we've moved on to Chuck season one.

Okay, more like moved back to Chuck season one.

Cause the boyfriend is having a bad day which means I'm having a bad day so naturally I flew back to a comedy - oh speaking of comedies, and anther thing I had forgotten about today...

BossLady and I think we should install a movie night for staff morale - ha!

It's classic.

The old intern and I were discussing our favorite animated movies, we're both fans of Robin Hood and Aladdin.

But I think Emperor's New Groove is probably the funniest just because of Kronk and David Spade.

I have no idea what his actual name is, I just call him Kronk when I see him.

Though "Kronk's New Groove" was horrible. Don't watch it.

Watched it while I did more homework.

I'm loving this whole one credit class thing. There are no due dates for the homework, it's all just "get it done by the last day of the semester" aka like the end of July.

Though I'll probably do it all on some weekend and get it over and done with.

Discussion Boards for my other class may kill me, especially this week as there are three, but I'm trying to keep up.

But that's it for tonight. I'm exhausted and calling it.
