I could write a blog. I have thoughts.

How many librarians does it take to start the wave?

Apparently more than three, cause it didn't catch on when we tried it.

Granted we were in a room filled with people double my age.

At least.

And they weren't really paying attention to us anyway.

I'll get there.

Today was incredibly dead at the library, but went surprisingly fast.

I spent most of the day working on TAB stuff and learning random facts about the Olympics.

Did you know General Patton competed in the Olympics? Apparently in ancient Olympia married women weren't allowed to watch cause they weren't pure and could be killed in caught. There's more but I'll save them for later.

I think the reason it went so fast was because we were all so excited for what came after.

I had a hot date.

With Queen of the Known Universe.

That's right, made fun of me all day, then all night. Didn't even buy me supper.

Worst first date ever.

Joking of course, we had fun. Got supper and then hit up Info-Man's play.

Barefoot in the Park.

Excellence in the making.

He stole every scene, and I'm not saying that cause I'm bias.

Okay, I am bias, but really, he did steal every scene.

The whole cast was great though, even the minor roles.

"I feel like we've died and gone to heaven - only we had to climb up."

I was very proud.

We all were. It was like library-central, we had a whole section.

I joked that we should have made signs to hold up at intermission that said "Go Info-Man!" That's when we attempted the wave but failed.

But that would be have been embarrassing and unprofessional...which we never are...at work or after it...

Anyway, it's a day for drama cause now I get to watch the SAG Awards.

Here are a few of my favorite moments:

Lupita Nyong'o: "Dad, do you know Brad Pitt? I'm going to be in a movie with him."
Dad: "I don't know him personally, but I'm glad you got a job."

Julia Louis-Dreyfus's speech.

Totally Veep.

Ty Burrell

Modern Family is sweeping it man.

Huzzah for Helen Mirren.

Sasha Alexander as a presenter. Love her.

Bryan Cranston's "I won a SAAAAAG AWAAAAARD"

Wait, Mr. Dursley died?!

Cate again. Her speeches are always so great.

Gonna have to see that movie.

American Hustle gets best cast. Awesomeness.

Alright, song of the day and I'm out.

You Hear a Song - Cassadee Pope

"Stay in the car." "My four favorite words."

See, people make fun of me for buying those gimic protection plans for headphones, but they don't realize how many pairs of earbuds I go through in a month.

Today I took in 2 broken sets after work and got them both replaced for free, huzzah!

I love Best Buy.

Though the Geek Squad's customer service is loathsome.

Like, I know you have lines of people and you're busy, but perhaps if you picked up the pace a bit or focused on your own customer instead of your coworkers 4 other customers you would get things done a little bit faster and in a more organized manner.

Was second in line, stood there for half an hour before anyone talked to me.

Makes me proud of our customer service skills at my library.

Which a lady mentioned to my supervisor today. Said I was much more patient and helpful than a different branch and that she was going to start coming to us instead.

Rock solid man.

So today...

Was good.

Flew by fast.

Did my final Library Golf preparations for tomorrow, now all that's left is to pick up the clubs, set up the holes and hope for the best.

I'm hoping that a lot of teens show up to participate.

But not like too many that will be overcrowded and overdramatic.

Or ones that think it's dumb and make fun of our arrangements.

I guess we shall see.

Other highlights include more training and special guest star visits from an old professor and the Authentically Amazing One and Only KB.

Whom I haven't seen in like months but we need a girls night.

And that's really all I remember about today. Oh, I uploaded my Summer Reading Kickoff pictures.

Yep, now that's all I remember about today.

Carter and I are jamming.

Watched Holly get eliminated on The Voice - called it, ugh Swon Brothers move on again.

Cassaddee Pope - my pick for last season's winner and actual winner - made a guest appearance unveiling her new single.

Is country.

And see, if she had any other coach things would be completely different.

Now we've moved on to Chuck season one.

Okay, more like moved back to Chuck season one.

Cause the boyfriend is having a bad day which means I'm having a bad day so naturally I flew back to a comedy - oh speaking of comedies, and anther thing I had forgotten about today...

BossLady and I think we should install a movie night for staff morale - ha!

We're thinking Emperor's New Groove.

It's classic.

The old intern and I were discussing our favorite animated movies, we're both fans of Robin Hood and Aladdin.

Then of course I had to ramble about the whole half of the Disney princes don't even have names let alone lines spiel, go here: Sketch and Edit Watch a Movie

But I think Emperor's New Groove is probably the funniest just because of Kronk and David Spade.

I have no idea what his actual name is, I just call him Kronk when I see him.

Though "Kronk's New Groove" was horrible. Don't watch it.

Where was I?

Oh right, Chuck.

Watched it while I did more homework.

I'm loving this whole one credit class thing. There are no due dates for the homework, it's all just "get it done by the last day of the semester" aka like the end of July.

Though I'll probably do it all on some weekend and get it over and done with.

Discussion Boards for my other class may kill me, especially this week as there are three, but I'm trying to keep up.

But that's it for tonight. I'm exhausted and calling it.

Carter and I are gonna crash.

Music and I'm out.

Here are some of my favorites from Chuck:

Fortunate Son - Jeffster

Jeffster rocks it.

Get Outta My Dreams - Billy Ocean

yep. that's all I got.

Oh.

I found the bug.

But it's too high.

And all of my chairs move when I stand on them.

And you know me and movable chairs.

Dressers fall over.

I pass out.

Smash my foot.

They call the Dean and then the whole world knows.

And yesterday when I tried to reach and smash it I totally missed so it's gotta be watching out for me now.

stupid bugs.

"I'll deck your halls."

Big day for a Tuesday.

Worked 9-6, got to spend the morning at the home branch jammin' with Joe Studley. We're both such goofballs so the time flies by. Drive thru for lunch and back to the work branch in the afternoon. Check-in and supplies in the afternoon.

After work was a different story. It's the boyfriend's birthday today so we went out to eat with his parents. Got a hot beef sandwich - one of my favorite meals, though it's hard to beat tacos - and then we came back and watched the last part of The Grudge.

Nightmare-worthy but I like Sarah Michelle-Gellar so it was fine. And there was Seinfeld as well - finally saw the Soup Nazi. I've seen a few episodes but I was never a die hard like some of my cousins. Perhaps I'll order a few seasons through the library.

So I was there 'til 11, got back at midnight and then watched THE VOICE FINALE which was EPIC. Lots of duets with famous artists and they brought back a lot of singers - they let the finalists sing a song with singers of their choice. Gonna Rock and Roll All Night was my favorite - Terry brought back Michaela, Amanda, Bryan, and Rudy. Nicholas brought back Amanda as well, along with Dez and Trevin. Cassadee went with country singer Liz, unique artist Melanie and vocal powerhouse De'Borah.

She also performed with her idol - and mine - Avril Lavigne. And then turned into an excited mess immediately following.

Which leads me to the winner.

Major spoiler alert - if you hadn't figured that out already - the winner is....

*dramatic pause*

*insert crazy girl celebration* my number one actually pulls it off.

lasted much longer than last year, and while jordis still does rock cassadee is my favorite of the two. mostly cause i liked hey monday before the voice and that just carried over.

But I'm so happy she won, though I would have cheered if it had been Terry too. Nicholas would have been interesting as well.

Aside from the winner being announced I think this was my favorite famous artist duet.

just cause i'm a nerdy fan for both of them.

The bring back performances were alright, as were the super group ones but nothing spectacular so I'll move on to the Christmas music and post them later.

Christmas Music That Doesn't Suck: Day Five

Oh Little Town of Bethlehem - Frank Sinatra

again with frank on a classic. last year's was Sarah McLaughlin, she's always great with christmas music.

Silent Night - SNL Choir

no words. last year was aly and aj but this is better.

What Child is This - Carrie Underwood

rockin' country chick. last year's was charlotte church.

For last year's Day Five go here

did i mention it's not only my boyfriend's birthday today but also cassadee's boyfriend's birthday? and xtina's? so sad she's skipping next season but she'll be BACK!

oh well, i will attempt to stop talking about it for a while. next season doesn't start up again until march anyway so take a well-deserved break from my rambling...on that topic.

here's the preview for next season.

my shakira, how you've changed.

and she's out.

just realized that timothy hutton is very similar to ryan o'neal. thoughts?

"Stop licking the carpet!!"

She screams helplessly at Carter after spilling food all over the floor.

Woops.

Disaster.

It was one of those days, seriously.

Two incident reports in two days. Yesterday's was weird enough. Banned dude comes in not knowing he's banned, makes a computer reservation, realizes that we're looking at him and have called the guard then walks back passed the desk wearing a ski mask thing.

Master of disguise.

Then today this chick comes up to the counter asking us to call an ambulance. Something about her hand though she was a bit unsteady on her feet. EMT's show up and go talk to her.

EMT: "How much have you had to drink today?"
Chick: "Not enough, why are you buying?"

The joys of public service.

But don't get me wrong, I wouldn't trade the library for anything.

It's just never boring.

Anyway, so there was that hysteria.

And the fact that they actually let Slim Shady and I work together. Which happens maybe once a month. And this time they were desperate cause it was in red.

Then I had my TAB meeting this afternoon, supervisor sat in, but it was a good one for her to be there. The kids actually stayed on task! No, we actually got a lot accomplished.

Planned out our holiday party for Saturday and picked out the activities they'll be leading for the Summer Reading kickoff.

After work jammed out with the boyfriend for a few hours, watching movies. But then he had to work. Which sucks.

Notice how loving I am that I didn't force him to watch The Voice?

Even though it was the semi-finals?

And Cassadee Pope's fate was in the air?

PS - stoked that she's safe but totally depressed that Trevin got the boot. He seriously could have won the whole thing. Think his song choice screwed him over. Or the bad notes at the end. Either way it's suckish that he's toast. And I like Nicholas, he's got a certain flair to him. Very actual real-life dude, but I still can't believe he beat out Trevin.

But Cassadee and Terry are still in it. Way to go Team Blake! Speaking of Team Blake, Raelynn from last year made an appearance along with Team Cee-Lo's Juliet Simms - totally rocked it!! Both with new singles, and Chris Mann as well. Tony Lucca made an appearance with Adam so that makes 3 finalists plus Jermaine who was on the show a couple weeks ago. Wonder if they'll come back next week.

Was a little random that Raelynn came back to sing and Tony did not. But I guess she has a single and he does not.

Co-written by two other Voice contestants from last year.

Anyway, Cassadee and Terry rocked it and I'm stoked they're both moving on. Hopefully Cassadee will win the whole thing as my number 1. Make up for the fact that Jordis got kicked out far too early last year.

Sorry, rambling and you don't care.

Next week is the finals. Big potatoes. That's all.

Song of the night:

Two artists that Nicholas beat out who could have easily won this competition.

Shocking we lost them in the quarter and semi-finals.

OUT!

Monday, December 3, 2012

I want to know what love is. I want you to show me.

Oh my god, it's Cyndi Lauper back as the psychic.

Haven't seen her since Harbinger's in the Fountain.

No, wait, she made an appearance on The Voice, singing with one of the final four from season one.

It was... interesting.

Avalon. That's her name. Now I feel like watching that episode.

Let's see, today.

Woke up at 8:35. I don't know what's going on with alarms, but the second one has stopped going off. I set one of them for 8:00 and hit snooze repeatedly so it goes off at 8:00, 8:05, 8:10 and then 8:15 before it stops for good. Then I have a second one that's supposed to go off at 8:20 but hasn't been. One of these days it's gonna screw me over.

Will reset everything just in case.

Work flew by fairly quickly.

Worked at the desk, updated the TAB website, stocked supplies, the usual. Oh, and had a volunteer come in, she's great. Very focused. I've got some great Go-Po's. Government and Politics students. They have to do 20 hours of community service for class, I get a lot of applications but only take 5 on at a time.

After work came The Voice, which I will attempt to keep to an abbreviated ramble. Aka it rocked and you need to watch the clip below.

After the Voice I watched Blake Shelton's Xmas program...it was alright. I bought the CD already so it was cool to see them perform the songs live, but I could have lived without the majority of the comedy stuff.

Though I did enjoy Xtina's appearance and the almost like the Voice chair skit.

I want one.

It has a bell and everything.

Then came Castle's Xmas episode, which was alright I guess.

Everything's "alright I guess." What is it about today?

Now it's on to Bones. This is what happens when I only have one assignment left and it's not due 'til the end of the week. Actual time to relax and edit stuff for my awesomely published friend, huzzah!

Gonna go over some of that tonight after Bones and crash.

So, on to the music.

For the love of God, go to iTunes and download this song.

It's worth the $1.29 and then some I promise.

oh, and while you're at it purchase some Cassadee Pope as well.

I highly recommend last week's performance of "Are You Happy Now", or the week before that's "Over You" which was written by Blake and Miranda's and topped the iTunes chart knocking off Gangnam Style for like a week. or there's "Torn" which was the blind audition.

Or really anything by Amanda Brown. "Dream On" was a big hit.

And vote.

For Cassadee.

And Terry.

And Trevin.

And Amanda.

not that I'm not a fan of Nicholas he's great and Melanie is on my top 20. They're normally awesome, but after tonight's performances, holy crap, top four was apparent.

But I guess it's up to America and all that. Anything could happen. Tomorrow tells all.

Until next week that is.

I really wouldn't be surprised if Nicholas pulls through and one of mine gets eliminated. He's got a lot of people pulling for him.

Off!

Monday, November 26, 2012

Bazinga.

The countdown continues.

Now I got the gross cough and the weird feeling in the back of my throat.

Which means if I wake up tomorrow with a fever and the weird taste in my mouth then it's official.

Which sucks cause I got a lot of stuff to do this week.

I don't know what happened.

Last year I got a letter from the Mayor cause of perfect attendance.

This year this is gotta be like the 5th time at least. Ridiculous.

But last year it was weird cause I did get sick, it was just always on my days off.

Oh well, today was nice. Got to sleep in cause I didn't have to go in until 4, but then of course woke up in the morning like every hour cause my cat got restless and decided he wanted to be up and if he had to be up then I had to be up.

Knocking stuff over, meowing constantly, jumping up on my stomach and walking all over the couch just to jump off and jump back on.

But see, he's very territorial. And thinks that this is his apartment and I just stay here. So the fact that I was taking up his couch during his alone time in his apartment totally threw him off.

Now he is blissfully sleeping next to me so apparently I'm forgiven.

Though if I get sick tomorrow and have to stay home I'll be having none of that no sleeping thing.

We'll see.

So The Voice was great. Cassadee seems to be the frontrunner - well, along with Amanda Brown. Though for a while there I really thought Trevin could pull it off. And BRYAN WENT HOME!?! I was totally sad.

Here's what my top 20 looks like at the moment, though tomorrow there will be more eliminations.

Cassadee Pope
Trevin Hunte
Nicole Nelson – knocked out by Loren
Aquile – knocked out by Sylvia
Avery Wilson – knocked out by Cody
Bryan Keith – eliminated during live rounds

Brandon Mahone – eliminated after first battle
Michelle Brooks-Thompson – knocked out by Amanda
Adriana Louise – eliminated during live rounds
Collin Mcloughlin – knocked out by Michaela
Terisa Griffin – knocked out by Trevin
Suzanna Choffel – knocked out by Cassadee
Nelly’s Echo – eliminated after first battle
Melanie Martinez
Gracia Harrison – knocked out by Liz
Celica Westbrook – knocked out by Adriana
Mycle Wastman – knocked out by Nicholas
Mackenzie Bourg – eliminated during playoffs
2Steel Girls – eliminated after first battle
Joe Kirkman – knocked out by Bryan

So basically I'm all about Cassadee, Trevin and Melanie.

But they have this new rule that anybody can be eliminated no matter the team. Which at first I didn't like cause I thought it would suck for a coach if none of their singers made it to the final, but now I kind of like because it's like the really great singers aren't limited because they're on a certain team. Now it's just who's best, not who's best on each team.

So right now Adam's down to two - Melanie and Amanda. I would be fine with Amanda winning at this point, I really love the comeback underdog story.

Blake's got my favorite Cassadee and also Terry the Scot-rocker and he's also fantastic. Like uber fantastic.

Cee-Lo's got three left, Trevin of course and then there's the surprise Nicholas who's like this awesome rugged classic artist and Cody who's anything but classic - just so out there and crazy and fabulous. He's got a lot of attitude - he was the last one picked and he didn't think anyone turned around for him so when he realized Cee-Lo did he totally went crazy.

And then poor Xtina is down to just one artist - Dez who's a real crooner.

Though you kind of saw that coming, I mean she did have great artists it's just that they were all pop singers really and you've gotta have some variety cause not everyone likes pop. You know? Not that I don't like it, I'm just saying with Cee-Lo's team you've got a whole group of characters which I think gives him the edge. Plus he's got 3 people left so even if 2 are eliminated tomorrow when they go down to the top 6 then he's still in it.

Anyway, I should stop rambling and crash before you get bored of me.

Not that you haven't already.

You gotta watch this, totally hilarious.

Flash mob on the set of Big Bang Theory

ps - during a pitch game like 2 years ago the Cool Aunt meant to yell out "bazinga!" but all she could think of was "pizazz!" it was hysterical and stuck so there will be much yelling of that in a few weeks at the annual pitch party.

so funny to hear jim parsons commenting on his life size cutout on leno cause if you've seen the pictures of NLA on facebook....

Legitimate pre-midnight post. Holy Crap tag in use.

Dream on.

I've been going to bed far too late this week even though I've been posting early so I'm going to keep this short.

Made a lot of progress on homework stuff tonight which was good cause I was freaked. Stayed up last night after posting to get started so I was all zombie mode today at work. So one big one down for this week one more to go. Get to go from adult programs on resumes and job searching to digital libraries. After that it'll be search engines, after that it'll be Koha, and in between it'll be constant discussion boards.

So yes, this is boring but hey it's an update which means I'm alive and kicking. Though soon it'll just be alive cause I'm totally gonna konk out as soon as this is posted.

Unless I kick in my sleep.

Then I guess I'll still be both alive and kicking.

Song of the night:

Yes, I did was the Voice. It was on in the background at least, though background often became foreground. Which means it was good I started last night.

Dream On - Amanda Brown

Holy crap 1:58. She's awesome. Total underdog rises, I love it.

Love Adam's air drums.

Glad to hear Cassadee is a fan favorite. Guessing that's all to do with Hey Monday but I'm fine with that. As long as she makes it to the finals.

Alright, on to tomorrow.

Back to the fake 11:50's. Don't expect another real one like ever. Total fluke though it was amusing.

Tuesday, October 30, 2012

all of my change i spent on you.

Interesting day.

I can't believe it's only Tuesday, it feels like this week is eternal.

But I know that any complaint that I could possibly come up with could never compare to what people are going through on the East coast.

Thoughts and prayers are headed your way, that is craziness.

I feel like I just kept repeating that today. Like when something bad happened and I wanted to complain I shutup cause really, my life is paradise compared to someone who lost their home in a fire after it being flooded by the storm.

I am really curious about the effect it will have on the election.

So, trying to focus on the positive of today: Mom brought my cookies.

Pretty sure my coworkers love her more than me.

And the Boyfriend came up after work. We watched The Voice.

To be fair I did give him plenty of outs.

But yes, the Voice - it was the rest of the knockout round. Yesterday Adam and Cee-Lo's teams were cut in half, tonight it was Xtina and Blake's turn.

I'm happy to say my number 1 totally dominated - aka Cassadee Pope former lead singer of Hey Monday.

Who I was a diehard fan of before they exploded.

Blog is written proof.

Anyway, here's my top 20 after tonight's knockouts.

Cassadee Pope
Trevin Hunte
Nicole Nelson – knocked out by Loren
Aquile - knocked out by Sylvia
Avery Wilson – knocked out by Cody
Bryan Keith

Brandon Mahone – eliminated after first battle
Michelle Brooks-Thompson – knocked out by Amanda
Adriana Louise
Collin Mcloughlin - knocked out by Michaela
Terisa Griffin – knocked out by Trevin
Suzanna Choffel - knocked out by Cassadee
Nelly’s Echo – eliminated after first battle
Melanie Martinez
Gracia Harrison - knocked out by Liz
Celica Westbrook - knocked out by Adriana
Mycle Wastman – knocked out by Nicholas
Mackenzie Bourg
2Steel Girls – eliminated after first battle
Joe Kirkman – knocked out by Bryan

I know that the goal is to get it down to one winner and that only one of these people will be left, but still TONIGHT HURT.

Lost Aquile, Collin, Suzanna, Gracia, and Celica. Granted Suzanna and Celica were both beaten out by other members of the top 20 higher than they were.

Here are the teams as they go into the live rounds - for 3 LIVE SHOWS this week.

Ads were hysterical. The biggest thing next week is THE ELECTION, but the next biggest thing....

ADAM:
Jocelyn
Bryan
Amanda
Loren
Melanie

CEELO:
Cody
Mackenzie
Trevin
Nicholas
Diego

X-TINA:
Devyn
Adriana
Dez
DeBorah
Sylvia

BLAKE:
Liz
Terry
Michaela
Julio
Cassadee

So only two from tonight survived, but I am starting to root for Liz Davis, Loren Allred and Amanda Brown as well.

I feel like they didn't get their fair share of coverage - especially Loren so gotta share the love.

Alright, I'm aware that really none of this matters as to what's going on in the world so I will now shut up.

Song of the night:

Cassadee's version of Maroon 5's Payphone

Suzanna is awesome as well, but totally bizarre song choice for a competition.

Cassadee rocked it.

Legitimate pre-midnight post. Holy crap tag in use.

OUT

Tuesday, October 2, 2012

it goes like this, the fourth, the fifth, the minor fall, the major lift...

Today was horribly horribly depressing as it was Big Brother's last day of work.

I totally almost cried when Info-Man came and gave him a hug at the end of the day.

I think he did too.

So, attempting not to dwell on the depressing and focus on the awesome I can't hold back anymore.

I know I said I'd cool it on the Voice until I picked my team, but now the blind auditions are done and I have my team picked.

Last year I did a top ten list, but this year they have teams of 16 instead of 12 so it's been expanded to top 20.

Which I'm sure is ridiculous but I couldn't cut it any lower. It was originally much much higher.

Okay, you will all be so proud of my holding back-ness because my number one is obviously Cassadee Pope and when I saw her I totally screamed and went all crazy fangirls.

Carter was less than enthused.

You know who that is right?

You realize how often I rambled about Hey Monday on here especially right?

I can list you at least 5 posts, literally 5 posts with them tagged. Go here: http://ckmylifeinclosedcaptions.blogspot.com/search/label/hey%20monday

And that's only the ones they're tagged in, there are more that showed up when I searched for that link. More like 20.

I literally heard one of their songs and bought all their albums. This was way before "Don't Wanna Dance" became popular, just so you know.

Anyway, so Cassadee Pope is clearly my number one cause she was their lead singer for the duration they stayed together, went on tour with Fall Out Boy and all that.

But here's the whole list, color-coded to match each coach - green is Blake, silver is Cee-Lo, red is Adam and purple is X-tina.

Yes, I'm a nerd, get used to it.

If you haven't already.

Cassadee Pope
Trevin Hunte
Nicole Nelson
Aquile
Avery Wilson
Bryan Keith
Brandon Mahone
Michelle Brooks-Thompson
Adriana Louise
Collin Mcloughlin
Terisa Griffin
Suzanna Choffel
Nelly’s Echo
Melanie Martinez
Gracia Harrison
Celica Westbrook
Mycle Wastman
Mackenzie Bourg
2Steel Girls
Joe Kirkman

This week's will probably be video heavy so I'll keep the rest of this short.

Torn - Cassadee Pope

and then bought it on itunes immediately.

i love that adam, xtina and blake all went simulaneously.

Listen - Trevin Hunte

awesome. that's all. just awesome. he's only 18.

Hallelujah - Nicole Nelson

she was great. i love it, they call her the vermont bohemian.

I'll stick with three for now.

I'm out!
