I could write a blog. I have thoughts.

Life at the library, adventures with friends and other hysterics...

We have no tolerance for politics at the White House.

The boyfriend and I went to see The Butler.

Sorry, Lee Daniels' The Butler.

But apparently Lee Daniels doesn't like having his name in the title however they had to do it cause there was already a movie called The Butler.

Whatever.

Anyway, it was pretty good.

Scale of Awesome says 7.5/10 so good, but not something I want to watch again. Mostly cause it was wildly depressing.

I didn't realize it had that many people in it.

Robin Williams, Liev Schreiber, James Marsden, John Cusack, Alan Rickman and those were only the presidents.

Who were dead on, by the way.

Except Cusack, as much as I like him I can't see him as Nixon. Even with the nose extension.

The rest looked exactly like them.

Okay, maybe not Marsden, but Rickman, holy crap he was seriously a dead ringer.

No pun intended.

You can watch the preview for the rest of the big names but I was excited about David Oyelowo and Alex Pettyfer. Even though Alex played a complete jerk.

Speaking of him, Fall of Five came out today.

Fall of Five as in I Am Number Four, The Power of Six, The Rise of Nine...

here, watch this:

Yes, I'm a nerd, but you knew that already.

Guess I'll just have to stop at Barnes and Noble to pick up a copy.

Yes, I'm aware I work at a library and can get it for free.

But I like reading things on my own time and I already own the rest of them anyway.

Not much to say aside from that. Worked 9-1, got lunch and then headed out to the practicum.

Practicum Count-Up 11/90 so we're moving right along.

Did more stamping today. My hands are still covered in ink. Thursday will be the big move. Right now we're still in the main building but we got all the way through our collection so maintenance is gonna move it and then Thursday we get to sort and shelve.

Huzzah! Progress.

After practicum I stopped by to check in on Oldest Sister. She's living it up, sleeping and watching movies with her feet up with Mom there to cater to her every need.

They had nice bonding today watching tennis and eating salted watermelon.

Does anyone else do that?

Put salt on their watermelon?

Cause I think it's gross.

But that's how they eat it. Is this just a weird family quirk or do other people out there in the world do that?

Then I headed out to see the boyfriend. We went to the movie then spent the rest of the night talking on the porch swing before he had to head into work.

Now I'm back and ready to crash. Work plus class tomorrow so I'm out.

Song of the Day:

Tiny Dancer - Elton John

when I hear this song I think of two things.

This:

yes i do watch that show too much

and this:

yes i know i watch that show too much too.

speaking of, GUESS WHAT?!

that's right.

it's on.

"You have great hair, can I touch it?" "What?"

Wore my awesome boots again to work today.

Queen of the Known Universe says I need to get something to put in the pockets.

Something specific but it probably wouldn't fit.

So now there's a debate going on as to what would fit.

Today was Monday but I was determined to not see it as a Monday. Mostly because I worked the weekend and I didn't want another Monday.

But I came in with an optimist's attitude - just trying it on for size - saying today was going to be good and it actually turned out okay. Which was shocking for a realist like myself. Though some may say pessimist.

Okay, mostly I say pessimist but have changed it to realist because pessimist just makes me seem like I'm mad all of the time.

Which is not true.

Just most of the time.

Joking.

Anyway, everything good became "take that, Monday!" aka answering reference questions like a pro, training volunteers, and ordering a banana split for lunch with the works.

I go there basically every day but this was only the second time I've ordered one and somehow majestically Superwoman was there - like she was the first time - and super jealous.

As mentioned, I go there basically every day, so they let me pick my three flavors of icecream. I went with cherry nut, peanut butter fudge and regular chocolate. Then cause I needed toppings - or so they said - I added some chocolate sauce, nuts and whipped cream.

By the end the lid wouldn't close and I had to walk through the library with everyone staring at me.

Photo: Banana split for lunch - I go there far too often they let me pick my flavors so I got cherry nut peanut butter fudge and chocolate. Take that Monday!

Not that them staring is abnormal.

Speaking of staring, okay, so there is a reason that I don't wear my hair down at work.

Oldest Sister says that I should, I claim it's easier if it's up in a pony tail, which it is, but it's mostly because I get hit on EVEN MORE when it's down.

Like yesterday this dude was like, "did you dye your hair?" "no." "oh, well it looks nice. how's your day going?" etc. And then I'm stuck in this awkward conversation while he's signing up for a computer and no one around to make him stop talking to me. And the fact that he asked if I dyed it means that he's seen me before and knows what it usually looks like. Which creeps me out more cause I don't remember seeing him ever.

Then today this totally different guy comes up to me and says, "you know, you have great hair. can I touch it?" "what?!"

Um.

What the crap do you say to that?!

I'm gonna say no...but thanks.

Yes, that was a Friends quote. Deal with it.

But seriously? I'm like in the middle of volunteer training and I'm pretty sure my volunteer even did a double take. And I was basically like, "um, that's a weird question." and walked away talking to my volunteer.

He later came up to me claiming he was joking - good god I hoped so - but then continued talking about my hair.

Seriously?!

It needs chopped and dyed cause it hasn't been since like January. So why am I getting compliments now? In August?

When I don't want them?

Not that I want them from them ever anyway.

Though it would be nice if my boyfriend were to actually notice these things.

Anyway, so there is a reason I don't wear my hair down at work.

Even more amusing is the conversation I had with Queen of the Known Universe about it. Apparently she got hit on at lunch the other day as well so we said we should go out sometime looking hot and see what happens.

Perhaps bringing Wordie along with us to scare away the ones that aren't firemen or cowboys.

Don't ask.

It's a long story.

Alright, so that was my day. I'm off to edit some more before I crash. Tomorrow is another half and half day, work branch in the morning with practicum in the afternoon. Looking forward to it.

Song of the day:

Go For a Soda - Kim Mitchell

heard this the other day and went whaaat?

was this a legitimate song? like did it get airplay?

Clip of the day:

Ninja Cat

i'm sorry but this is hysterical.

and i'm pretty sure i had a nightmare similar to that once.

legitimate pre-midnight post, holy crap tag in use.

Sunday, August 25, 2013

this one longing to be thinner that one wants to get the girl and do i help them? yes indeed.

Yes, I took the weekend off.

No, I'm not lying somewhere in a ditch.

That's actually one of my favorite home branch memories - as horrible as it sounds, it's funnier now.

Basically my phone went nuts and my alarm didn't go off so I woke up late and missed part of work and since my phone was messed up I couldn't make or receive any calls to call in to let them know what was going on. By the time I finally got there I was like freaking out cause I thought I was gonna get fired and they started clapping cause I wasn't dead somewhere in a ditch.

Thanks for that guys.

Anyway, it was nice to have the weekend off but I'm back with a vengeance.

FRIDAY:

Slept in, it was glorious.

Then went shopping with Oldest Sister for shirts for work.

But we couldn't leave the store with just shirts.

Apparently, every female with a pulse is required to own boots.

It's some sort of contract that we sign when we're born.

And apparently cowboy boots aren't enough so I got another pair that my boyfriend calls "camo" but I call "steampunk". They're awesome.

The best part was that Oldest Sister hated them! And wanted me to get this other pair so I tried them both on and then she was like, ugh. I like your choice better.

Victory!

They have pockets.

I don't know what to put in the pockets but they're there.

And they're awesome so I wore them to work today.

And it turned out much better than that time I wore the cowboy boots to work.

Which is on here somewhere I believe. It just happened to be the busiest day that week so I was constantly running up and down the stairs with the boots, my feet were dead by the end of the day.

But today was much better and these are more comfortable. The boyfriend was stunned. Take that world.

Anyway, back to Friday, so slept in, went shopping, then headed out to see the boyfriend. He changed my oil cause he's sweet like that.

Then we watched Heat cause apparently it's the action movie to kill all action movies and neither of us had seen it.

Literally.

Scale of Awesome says about 6/10. It was alright but it wasn't all that. I did enjoy the cast though, they were good.

My problem was that I fell asleep about halfway through - we didn't start it until 9 since he didn't have to go in to work so it wasn't over 'til 12 and then I didn't get back 'til 1.

Which made Saturday even more interesting as I had to work.

SATURDAY:

So I was in zombie mode for most of the day, plus I felt like crap so it wasn't a fun day. But that's okay, worked 9-6, got to clean the bathroom after someone threw toilet paper all over the place, then came home and watched some Charlie's Angels.

Cause it's about that time again. Every few months I gotta bring it back. Starting with season one again.

I know, I know, but if I start at season one then by the time I get through season three I'll be distracted and then won't have time to watch seasons four or five where Sabrina leaves and we're stuck with crap.

Which I can only assume without verification as even though I own both seasons I've avoided them like the plague.

Also did some homework and lots of reading.

SUNDAY:

aka today.

Wore the boots, they're awesome. Will consider wearing them again tomorrow.

Spent the majority of my day working on booklists as Sundays are slow. Found some more crazy millionaires worthy of my Million Dollar Crazies booklist. Sent a copy to the Queen of Awesome, we'll see what she thinks of my list. I keep coming up with more! Tom Cruise, Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga, Howard Hughes, Howie Mandel, Justin Bieber, Leona Helmsley, Robert Klark Graham, Gatsby, Tony Stark, etc. etc. Yes, I'm including fiction too.

Talked to some teens about joining TAB and they seemed pretty interested. Been seeing them around lately and the girl seems like she would really like it so I gave them both applications. Hope to see them in September.

What else?

Oh, had the song Poor Unfortunate Souls stuck in my head all day cause I have copies of Barbarous Souls checked out for my mom and every time I look at my account I see them and for some reason Ursula and her eels pop into my head.

And they drive me nuts.

After work went out to see the boyfriend yet again, we got supper, watched part of the VMA's and then jammed at Walmart buying donuts and checking out their $5 DVD selection.

It was thoroughly exciting, just enough of a break from reality that it was perfect.

So, now I am back and off to bed. More work tomorrow cause there's no rest for the wicked.

Song of the day:

Well, the week rather cause I've been singing it ever since I checked them out for her weeks ago.

Poor Unfortunate Souls - Pat Carroll

the ultimate villain song. her voice is perfect for the role. true? yes!

i haven't seen this movie in a decade and a half, watching it now HOW COULD SHE TAKE THAT DEAL?! seriously?

kind of makes me want to go back and watch some of the other classics. now that i'm much older and a bit wiser i'll probably catch quite a bit more.

lady gaga's outfit reminded me of ariel tonight.

speaking of the VMA's dude!! NSync reunion!!

jump to 9:55 for the awesomeness.

the boyfriend wasn't an enthused about it as i was.

as i immediately texted Instacake.

cause that's how i roll.

and i'm out. hope you all had a great weekend.

Where the hell is Matt?

Okay, so this is a nightly occurrence and it still makes me laugh.

It'll be late and I'll be distracted and not realize what time it is cause I'm watching TV or reading or whatever, and suddenly Carter will come, sit on my lap and just stare at me.

Like a hostile takeover.

And I just know that he's saying Do you realize what time it is? Why aren't we sleeping? in that Garfield voice.

He did that about an hour ago, but I was enjoying Hollywood Gamenight on my DVR so I finished the episode while he fell asleep on my lap.

Then, when I actually made an effort to get up and get ready for bed he was mad cause he had already given up on me and fell asleep.

Now he's sitting on his side of the couch giving me the dirty look so I'm gonna make this quick.

Today was cool.

Am liking these half and half days.

Spent 4 hours at the work branch - nothing too exciting - took a lunch break and then headed over to see Mr. Bossman Tom for my practicum where we sorted and stamped even more books.

And uncovered bookshelves to pilfer, huzzah!

Practicum Count-up 8/90

He gave me a tour of the main building we're in - when we needed a break from all the stamping - so I got to check out the canteen and the break room and the tunnels that connect all the buildings.

There was some seriously cool artwork down there.

And on my way out he showed me this video and told me to share it with friends.

So I'm doing more than that and sharing it with the world because I like it.

Where the hell is Matt? the 2012 version

So you should all watch it because I think it's kind of awesome and unique...and c'mon it's dancing all over the world people.

I was informed that the ones where the faces were blurred out are places that dancing is not allowed.

That's right, it's like Bomont all the time.

You're welcome, people who get that reference.

If not look it up.

After the practicum I met up with the boyfriend in his favorite hardware store. He fixed his sister's car then we went out to eat.

Huzzah for greek salads! half of which is in my fridge.

Then he headed back to go to work and I watched Hollywood Gamenight and now have moved on to Wipeout.

I know, I know, but it's filling up my DVR so I have to watch it.

Besides, I love it.

"Life's a beach and then you dive."

Ah Henson, okay I'm out.

That was your music and clip of the night rec. I hope you all enjoy your weekend. Mine starts tomorrow cause I have the day off and am spending it sleeping in, shopping with Oldest Sister and then date night with the boyfriend.

Don't call me before 10AM!

out!

Wednesday, August 21, 2013

Sorry Occifer, We didn't notice the light was red, we were too distracted by cotton candy grapes. No we're not drunk, they do exist.

The sad part is I'm serious, Cotton Candy Grapes, but I don't know that I want my grapes to taste like cotton candy.

But maybe that's just me.

Aww, and see watching this makes me want to watch the show all over again.

Though it's missing the line of all lines "We solve crimes, I blog about it and he forgets his pants. I wouldn't hold out too much hope."

I don't really have much to say for today. Worked 9-6. Spent the majority of it brainstorming for my Ornery Old Men and Million Dollar Crazies booklists.

They are both highly entertaining, though I should focus on the Banned Nonfiction one first as it has a deadline in September.

Now they're trying to make me turn them into booktalks, but as I'm not a fan of public speaking I secretly cheered when all the spots were filled.

Oh, I mean, how sad. I was really rooting for me to make a fool out of myself in front of a bunch of old ladies.

Who I'm sure would be completely supportive and consoling.

Well, depending which group I'm referring to, or so I hear.

Anyway, aside from the booklists I had a polish dog for lunch....and some chips....and that's really all I remember about the workday.

Aside from the whole cotton candy grapes thing.

Which I still can't wrap my brain around.

After work I headed home and got ready for my first online class of the semester. We're only meeting online a couple times a month and doing discussion boards like five weeks out the entire semester and I think I have like 5 major assignments total.

So nice going back to one class at a time instead of that whole 3 classes with homework every night thing.

Which was fine, cause it burned through my 43 credits, but still all I have this semester for homework is Youth Services and then at the end of each month I have to write a summary paper for my practicum.

Which I should really look at the directions for before I go in tomorrow.

That's right people, day 2 tomorrow.

Whoa. Weird noises coming from my vent and now Carter is staring at it ready to pounce.

I hope there's not something in it.

Now he's staring around the ceiling like he's following it around.

Okay, calling maintenance tomorrow.

Where was I?

After being creeped out by the grapes but before being creeped about the mystery noises....

Oh right class, it was fine.

There are like 40 people in the class so an hour of it was spent on introductions - and it's all online so every time someone would speak it always started with "can you guys hear me?"

Then we went over the syllabus so it was very handy to have that interaction even though it's not in person.

Normally Carter's inquisitiveness just leads to someone getting bit but I'm kind of glad he's here in case some sort of creature jumps out of that vent.

He's the man of the house so he's in charge until maintenance gets here.

Perhaps I shall call them tonight instead.

On to the music:

Miss Baltimore Crabs - Michelle Pfeiffer

I'm not quite sure why her character was so proud to hold the title of Miss Baltimore Crabs, as it doesn't sound like something you want to spread around.

Tell people about.

Bad, bad, bad.

Tell people about.

Even sadder is that that is the sane version of Amanda Bynes.

Legitimate pre-midnight post, holy crap tag in use.

Dancing slowly in an empty room, can the lonely take the place of you?

I'm instituting a new segment to the blog.

It's called the Practicum Countdown.

Today's number is 5/90.

I guess that's more of a Count-up.

I have 85 hours left to go that must be completed by December 1st.

Hit the ground running...

Okay let's go with Count-up, I like that better.

Today was fun. 9-1 at the work branch - nothing super memorable aka bats on the ceiling, crazy stalker patrons, fire drills, etc.

Worked the desk, checked in, worked the desk some more and then ate lunch and headed over for my first official day of Practicum.

2-5 but he let me count my interview and research hours from yesterday so I'm up to 5, huzzah!

Mr. Bossman Tom gave me a tour of campus - there are three main buildings I'll be working out of. The main library and then we're setting up remote libraries in the mens' and womens' buildings for those who aren't allowed to leave those buildings.

After the tour we sorted and stamped books.

Every single stamp all I could think of was this:

Indiana Jones - the good one.

I know, I'm such a nerd.

But you knew that already and you're still here so....

Anyway, we stamped mega amounts of books. Mostly fiction but it's a work in progress. These were all from the booksale our library hosted last year and there were like 10 boxes of them. No, probably more, more like 15.

But it was good cause it gave me stuff to do for hours.

Basically we divided what was going to go in the womens' and what was going in the mens'. And then he had special stamps for each.

The maintenance staff has volunteered to deliver the boxes to the buildings - yay golf carts - and then Thursday we get to spend sorting and shelving.

Meanwhile we'll be coming up with lists for subject headings we've included and stuff we're short on.

I'm so excited, I'm such a nerd.

But again, you knew that.

It's a lot of fun, starting a library from scratch. And he mentioned going to the booksale again this year so we'll get even more to add to the collection.

Speaking of items in the collection, I discovered this one today and was super excited.

Keep the whole nerd thing in mind.

"William Shakespeare's Star Wars" by Ian Doescher go here: If Shakespeare Had Written Star Wars It might have looked a bit like this.

Yay Buzzfeed.

Totally putting that one on hold for myself. Shakespeare + Star Wars = How can you go wrong?

OH! And Mr. Bossman Tom took my side and chose Star Wars over Trek so I like him even more.

I'm feeling better about the practicum now that the first day is over. I was nervous before, but not so much anymore. Once we get the collections sorted out I get to man the desk every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon until December so I should pick up a lot of hours through the next couple months.

I was told today by two different people - Queen of the Known Universe and The Cool Aunt - that I shouldn't say "man the desk" as I am not a man. QoftKU says I should use "staff the desk" but I'm going with the Cool Aunt who said I should say "woman the desk" cause I find it amusing. And true.

After the stamping of awesomeness I met up with The Cool Aunt for some jalapeno margaritas.

I know you're all jealous. Well, the majority of you were on Facebook at least. Though Slim Shady is still not a fan of them. Missing out on life woman, missing out on life.

Dinner was good, though she wouldn't let me pay!

"You said last time I could pay this time."
"I know, I lied."

Thanks.

You should see her and Mom duke it out whenever they go out for lunch, it's highly entertaining.

I don't even try, though I was successful the one time when Mom left her wallet at the store and The Cool Aunt was too distracted by ice cream to grab the check before me.

Take that!

Both had our fajitas. We don't even look at the menu anymore, it's always just jalapeno margaritas, veggie fajita for her and steak fajita for me.

Half of which is in my fridge. I'm sure I'll pull it out around 3AM.

Was good to catch up as we haven't done that in a while.

Our next dinner will take place after comps - I'm also not allowed to say "if I pass comps" according to her and Superwoman it's "when I pass comps".

We shall see.

Am I the only one who has absolutely no desire to watch the show Deal With It? Not a Howie Mandel fan in the first place, but that's just weird.

Sorry. TV on in background. It was Wipeout but it's not anymore. Oh Conan.

I enjoy this segment.

Yay Neal Offerman.

Alright, on to the music.

Uprising - Muse

you have no idea how many times I had this blasting in my headphones today. at least 20. if you listen to it you'll understand why. it's just that awesome.

but i was the same way on my first day of work with Shinedown's Second Chance, go here.

the name is matt bellamy. not what's-her-name's boyfriend.

The Lonely - Christina Perri

super cool lyric video to a great song.

and i'm out. back to work tomorrow. along with my first online class session.

he who jumps like three-legged cricket...will fall like cross-eyed water buffalo.

Ah, a day off.

And I have Friday off too so this is just weird.

But good weird.

Slept in - but only 'til like 9 so that doesn't really count - did some research on BISAC and then went out the library in Mayberry to interview their director because they use the BISAC method.

Because apparently I'm an adult and need to do adult things like interview important people.

And I thought it might help to talk to someone who's actually went through the transition process.

We're lucky though because there's nothing to transition because we're starting from scratch.

Anyway, the interview went well. Learned a lot about the process and examples of subject headings. After the interview she showed me around the building. They're doing a lot of construction and opening up the basement to the public so there were workmen everywhere.

After the interview came back and took a nap.

It was glorious.

Attempted to watch GI Joe #2 but chose instead to fall asleep around the halfway point.

I'll finish the rest later.

Then the boyfriend came over, we watched the rest of Mr. & Mrs. Smith before he headed back to go to work.

I hate that we work different shifts. And live an hour apart. Totally kills datenight having a deadline like that.

Classes start this week so after he left I posted to the discussion board. There are 23 of us but I was the first one to post. So that's a good sign for me, I think. Tomorrow is also my first day of practicum so I'll work in the morning and then head over there in the afternoon. A little nervous. But he's completely laid back so it's more about the environment than the boss.

After that is dinner with the Cool Aunt as we haven't done that in a while. Jalapeno margaritas - it's gonna be awesome.

Alright, all I got for today.

On to the music:

Karmin posted this to their Twitter.

Acapella - Karmin cover by Rachele Lynae & Heather Cole

This chick's voice is the epitome of country.

I don't know how I got here but it's wildly entertaining.

Christian Pickup Lines

Song You Know But Forgot You Knew It

When I Think About Angels - Jamie O'Neal

remember jamming to this one in grade school.

I'm watching Wipeout, if you were wondering about the title. Henson has some good one-liners.

It's only fear after all.

Yes, I know I didn't post yesterday but I was all ranty and no one wants to read that.

Despite being all ranty the workday wasn't awful.

Spent the morning at the work branch and then the afternoon with Joe Studley at the home branch.

The other person on duty went home sick so they moved me over leaving only 4 people to cover the entire 4 floor building. And when I left 2 of those 4 were at lunch so...

That had to have been fun.

Joe and I had fun, but we always have fun.

After work I watched some Wipeout, did some more editing, and caught up with Sketch.

Today was much better, as you can tell I'm not all ranty so that's always a good sign.

Finally got to see the boyfriend after like a week. Our schedules have just not matched up. If he gets moved to second and it's like this on a regular basis I'm going to be ranty all the time.

We watched Dream House.

It was messed up, Scale of Awesome says 6/10.

I was entertained but confused about many things.

But it's okay, the movie was good for something as immediately following filming Rachel Weisz and Daniel Craig got married.

Yes, she's officially a Bond Babe now.

After that got over we watched a little of Mr. and Mrs. Smith - which I love and I'm going to force him to watch the rest tomorrow if he's able to come up here. Again, I hate scheduling.

When did dating become about scheduling? It shouldn't come down to that, you know? Part of me wants to get married just so that it's easier on us.

Though the other part of me remains a girl about the whole thing, but it's his job to ask so I'm staying out of it.

Where was I?

Oh yeah, today, so I'm a nerd.

Which you knew.

And since it was slow today I took the opportunity to work on some booklists. This round's topics are:

-Spunky Old Men (gonna have to think of a better title for that one, but it goes along with my spunky old ladies booklist, you're smart what would you name it?)
-Banned and Challenged Nonfiction Titles (to go with Banned Books Week in September, everyone does fiction list but I'm up for the challenge)
and my personal favorite as suggested by the Old New Guy
-Million Dollar Crazies (you know like Million Dollar Baby except this is about crazy millionaires aka Donald Trump, Howard Hughes, Joan Rivers, etc.)

I'm having far too much fun looking for titles.

And that was my day.

Well, days.

On to the music and then I'm off to finish up my editing.

Song of the Day:

Fear - Stop Making Friends (acoustic)

i'm sorry but i find this highly entertaining:

though it helps to know what they're saying.

okay off to edit some more.

excited to have tomorrow off.

They call me The Wanderer, yeah The Wanderer

So...I spent the day attempting to not flip people off.

Not because I was mad, but because I stabbed myself in the middle finger around 3AM last night - apparently I should stay out of the kitchen when I'm half asleep, or not asleep whatsoever - and I'm sporting so many bandaids that it won't bend properly.

Now I'm all queasy so I don't want to look at it...I'm just gonna assume it's fine.

I'm still walking and breathing so it can't be that bad.

Today was good.

Worked 9-1, took a nap, went out to dinner with the sisters, came back with a box of leftovers.

We had fun, but we always fun.

Quotes of the night:

-"Gazinta" was our family the only family subjected to this word on a regular basis? It means thing. But you can't come up with a name for the thing, so instead of just calling it a thing it's a "gazinta".

-"Why would I have a knife?"
-"Well, why would you have worms?"

-"Ferticula"
-"They probably took them down cause they got tired of explaining 'ferticula'."

Second Sister says she never gets "quote of the day" but she had some good ones tonight. Though some I can't include.

All I got for tonight. It's back to work tomorrow and then hopefully date night with the boyfriend.

Enjoying one of my last nights without homework by catching up on some Wipeout.

Classes start up again Monday. Thankfully I'm really only taking one - I mean, I'm registered for two but one of them is the practicum so the only real homework with that is just the actual hours on site and then the papers due at the end of each month.

Youth Services is my main class this semester. It's one of those "choose your path" classes where you pick a focus of either teens or youth. I will go with teens as I work with them more often and could actually apply what I learn.

I'm not going to think about October. October and comprehensive exams don't exist on my radar until October starts. And even then it's like the third week.

Plus I got my comrade who's taking them the same time. We'll meet up for coffee and go over sources. Which is allowed. As long as we don't write the papers together.

That makes me freak out about it less.

Okay, off to bed. Should enjoy this whole sleep before midnight thing while I can.

Hope you had a good one.

Hummingbirds are the vampires of the flower world.

I like that Big Bang Theory is so universal that I say one quote and everyone knows it's Sheldon.

Mahalo for nothing, Hawaii.

I remember when this show was still new. Sensory memory brings back my big silver TV and college bunk bed.

Scooby Doo sheets.

Oh yeah, I was one of those.

Speaking on behalf of all women, we had a meeting, it's not gonna happen.

Today was nice.

Don't remember really anything about the work day except flailing to the geek squad about computer stuff.

After work I came back and watched Major Crimes and Big Bang Theory.

It was in the midst of a MC marathon that BBT started playing in the background and I switched. Originally watching it on TV but then the commercials were taking too long so I put in the DVD.

But it was right before the 100th episode so they were really good.

I am so tired right now that I can't sit up straight so I'm gonna be out soon.

Apparently having a night off and spending it editing and watching TV makes me exhausted.

Yay for relaxation.

But I'm gonna sleep while I'm motivated to.

I know, I'm boring. Sorry. Usually I'm more entertaining than this.

Will be better tomorrow.

Or will attempt to be better tomorrow.

Leaving you music-less for once cause I'm too tired to turn on music shuffle and then search for video.

Carter and I are gonna crash.

After he gets off my pillow.

Legitimate pre-midnight post, holy crap tag in use.

Here, watch this.

That will fix things.

Some are reaching, Few are there, Wandering from a hero's chair.

Today was one for the record books.

I broke a door.

Not on purpose.

I'll get there.

Staff meeting in the morning. Presented on the conference I attended before camp at the boyfriend's library.

Huzzah for new teen material. I bought two of the books tonight - I'll get there too.

I learned a lot at the conference but the highlights I relayed were: "make your fiction seem like nonfiction. if it's not believable then no one will finish it," and "if your characters say 'do it my way' you do it their way or you'll have a crappy book", but I forgot "writing is the next best thing to napping". woops.

I enjoy writers. They are highly entertaining.

After the meeting I checked in magazines, trained a volunteer on how to scan media, worked the desk, got a hamburger for lunch, and all was fine and boring until I broke the door.

Okay first off, it wasn't my fault. I was going into the bathroom and the stall door just fell off.

Like literally fell off.

Dropped and bounced.

I screamed like a teenager, so loud that a coworker busted in freaking out.

We looked and there were metal shavings on the ground. Apparently the door hinge had been on its way out for a while, it just happened to officially fall when I was there to take the blame.

The best part of the whole situation was having to explain it to my supervisor cause he had to call to get it fixed.

Of course Superwoman was gone, Girlscout was in a meeting, BossLady was at lunch, so I went downstairs to Supervisor Alley and there was the Old New Guy sitting innocently at his desk...

He found it entertaining.

I did too.

After the whole shock factor wore off.

It literally just dropped and bounced.

And what would you have done in that situation other than scream and attempt to catch it?

Let it drop I guess.

It was a lot heavier than I thought it would be so I just ended up leaning it against the wall.

And then of course I had to take a picture.

Woops.

Door Killer.

Don't know my own strength.

Anyway, after that disaster things calmed down a bit 'til Mom showed up and scared the crap out of me at the desk.

But she brought zucchini bread and catfood so it's okay.

Shouldn't mix those two up, that'd be bad.

Saving the bread for breakfast tomorrow, yay for food in my fridge!

After things had calmed down I took a break to call another librarian. For my practicum we're setting up that remote library and we're going to use BISAC instead of Dewey so on Monday - my day off - I'm going to go visit a library using BISAC and talk to their librarian.

It's the one in my college town so maybe I'll swing by campus just for fun.

Not.

And Mr. Tom aka my Mr. Bossman Sir for my practicum says it will count toward my hours as it is for research purposes.

Huzzah!

Should be fun.

After work I met up with the Queen of Awesome for supper and a trip to Barnes and Noble.

Bought far too many books, but who doesn't while in Barnes and Noble?

I need to just go in there with a set list and not sway from it.

But that won't happen.

Got Second Sister's birthday present - which was the original intent - ate some good food, talked some girl talk, it was good to catch up as we haven't in a while.

And then of course ran into Oldest Sister, Squirt and Squirt's BFF in the parking lot.

They were headed where we ate supper, but as it was freezing in there we had left and were headed back to Barnes and Noble to jam in the much warmer cafe area.

"My cat weighs 23 pounds and 6 ounces."
"I have a child who weighs less than that."

Should really turn this dinner out thing into a monthly deal just for sanity purposes.

Bought another novel while we were there cause I had forgot about it until I saw something like it.

Huzzah for Richard Castle.

He is wicked awesome.

After our night out on the town I hit up Target for groceries. Cause for some weird reason I buy them there instead of an actual grocery store. Probably because I get my media, shoes, and all that there too, I'm all about one-stop shopping.

Came home, fed the cat, now I'm jamming out and watching Wipeout re-runs cause my DVR is full.

Gonna post this and crash.

Okay, I'm off to the races. Literally.

So this afternoon was kind of a blur.

There was so much going on that my head almost exploded.

But that's okay cause tonight made up for it.

And the day started off just fine...

Got the last parking spot - leaving earlier tomorrow, stupid construction taking up half the lot - checked in the new books, put out all the stuff for display, shelved DVDs, sorted carts, worked the desk, planned for my Catching Fire party - gonna be awesome, more details on that one to come - and then 5:00 rolls around and there are only 4 of us there to close, 2 for each floor which is fine until 1 of the 1st floor people leaves to count the money leaving the other person completely alone.

After she left to count I had a guy come up with over $500 in fines wanting me to waive them cause his card was stolen, then didn't understand why I wouldn't and instead told him to fill out a waiver form. But then he wouldn't leave and just stood at the desk for 10 minutes watching me help other patrons like I was going to change my mind. Sorry dude, don't have that kind of authority. Then there was the guy who wanted to get a library card but I couldn't understand what he was saying so I kept making him repeat everything. Then there was another dude who was looking for books I guess he had turned in earlier that day and he didn't understand why I wouldn't drop everything I was doing to help these two patrons ahead of him in line just to find those books, thankfully by that time InfoMan had come to save me.

By the time I got out of there there was no looking back. Made it to the races right as the warmups were starting. My first race there ever, which is weird for a southern Nebraska girl to say apparently.

I can now say, from experience, that there are all kinds that come to races, but the most prominent would definitely be the beer-drinking redneck.

I was surrounded by cowboy boots and baseball caps.

But I got to see my "mom" aka my surrogate mother from back home. I would spend a lot of my summers hanging out with her kids at their house. Though I think they spent even more at my house playing DDR and throwing crackers at the TV.

"Hey Carson!"

Was cool to jam with her. Introduced her to the boyfriend, think she met him before P Squared - the daughters - have. Woops.

The races were fun. I think the boyfriend was surprised I made it through the whole night without complaining. Like he was with the motorcar trip. Went by a lot faster than expected and after them we went over to meet his favorite driver. Got to go in the semi so he could buy a shirt and then I took his picture with him and with the car - see Facebook.

Rednecks are awesome, I grew up surrounded by them, as a farm kid there's no escaping that joy, but can someone explain the whole "take a tire home with you" thing?

Like the drivers give them tires to take home.

Not like the whole thing, just the rubber part. What are you going to do with it? It's too big to hang on the wall. Do you make it into a chair?

I'm just lost and confused as to this aspect of racing. Maybe you can shed some light.

And that's all I got for today. Music and I'm out, big day tomorrow.

Convoy - CW McCall

heard this on the way back and i had to laugh. was surrounded by trucks after coming out of the races. huzzah for CB radios.

omaha?!

You could buy a house and run away from it.

You know you're having a weird day when your dentists emails you with an eBook question.

In the middle of a Monday.

I didn't even know how to handle that, like, wait what?

Directed them to the troubleshoot email on the website.

Then stared at my phone for another 5 minutes in confusion.

Today flew by fairly quickly. Training at the Commission in the morning, crazy crowd in the lab at noon and then a slowed down afternoon doing supplies and working Youth Services.

After work went out to see the boyfriend. Finally saw We're The Millers.

Was so excited for this one even before previews came out.

Scale of Awesome says 7/10, it was pretty amusing but not something I'd watch over and over. I will rent it when it comes out at the library though.

Sat outside for a while before heading back, which reminds me I'm missing the meteor shower but I'm too tired to go look.

Smo's here sleeping as I should be as well.

Quote of the night:

Men are like oranges, you never know what you're gonna peel.

He may be sweet, he may be sour.

Sounds vaguely dirty but really isn't.

And I'm out.

Stupid SpongeRobert, get in the hole!

This weekend was huge.

I'm exhausted.

I feel old.

Though I was told this morning by my nephew that since I'm not married I'm not a grown up.

So I've got that going for me.

We asked him what about Laverna - my 96-year-old great aunt - cause she's not married and he says that she must not be a grown up either.

Okay so yesterday was Tee it up for Tuition the annual golf tournament fundraiser for my old high school. 2G dominated.

This year we were at a different course with almost double the amount of teams.

Which is both good and bad.

It's good because it means more money for the school but bad because it means we had to wait at each and every hole.

And when we get stuck waiting Pastor gets bored and hits balls into cornfields.

Which is why I brought my bag full of throwaways.

Huzzah.

I, myself, stuck with my colored balls.

I hate Spongebob with a passion so I enjoy smacking the crap out of the ones with his face on them.

And hit one into a water hazard on purpose to send him back to his stupid pineapple under the sea.

I started with a box of 8 I finished with 2.

We par-red out. We were one up at one point and then the last whole put us even.

It was a lot of fun. We're really goofy and not really in it to win it - mostly because the winning team this year golfed a 15 under par. So yeah, a bit off of that. We just want to beat Hillman.

That is literally our only goal and this year we tied him.

Since we are the loudest and goofiest ones there this is what you may have overheard if you were present.

Quotes of the Day:

"Now you know what it's like to ride in a cart with her."
"Hey, I didn't throw you out last year."

"Here's your snake cake."

"Fly by the seat of your phone."

"Blow a gasket if you have to!"
"I didn't know I had one but I will."

"Port-a-John."

"The guy with the girl name."

"Thanksgiving! Lutheran Church. We need more exclamation points at our church."

"SpongeRobert!"

This is our 4th year though year 1 was before I started the blog so I only have years 2: Our Drinking Team Has a Golfing Problem and 3: Bob of Sponge, Won't You Come? Won't You Come?

As you can see not much has changed.

The new course was nice, but not so nice was the fight that broke out over dinner - seriously? between one of the golfers on the other team and a random drunk dude - the long wait for prizes and then the 2 hour drive back.

So we're saying, move it back! Move it back!

Or closer at least.

Or start it earlier. 2 is way too late, because of all the waiting we didn't get back to the clubhouse until 7:15. Dinner didn't get over until 8, we left halfway through the prizes - mostly because there was nothing good left but also because it was 8:30 and we had a 2 hour drive left.

If they started at 9 we could just do an lunch eating thing and it would be much cooler.

I'd be in for that.

We'll see if they think it went well as it is ultimately their decision.

So that was golf.

Today was softball.

I love playing with "Who's Steve?" We're like a dysfunctional family but it works for us.

We put the fun in dysfunctional.

We've been playing together so long that we don't even worry about assigning positions cause we play the same spots every year.

Batting order we switch up though.

The batting order 5 years ago is where our name originated. In case you were wondering why someone would name their team "Who's Steve?"

Pastor was new and his wife - who also plays - wrote up the order. Since she calls him by his actual name and not "Pastor" she wrote "Steve". When Becky was reading off the list she was like "Mike, Becky, Steve - Who's Steve?" "Um, Pastor." And it stuck.

Now we're gonna have team t-shirts made. And they're gonna be awesome.

This is just a warmup for our fall season so we don't really care that we lost.

I don't know what happened, we started off really strong but came up short.

Couple of errors but really the other team was just as good. Lot of back and forth.

But that's okay, we'll get revenge on labor day as they will be on our turf.

Huzzah for the 2nd Annual WELS Softball Area Tournament.

They came last year as well, Unhook the Plow, we lost the first but smashed them down like the hand of God in the second so it evened out. Then called ourselves the Champions cause we could.

We should get a trophy for this year.

Remind me of that closer to the tournament.

Anyway, it was a lot of fun, I like playing with my brother and the rest of the crazy gang.

As is tradition I slid and broke open my leg. Not as bad as previous years - and at least this year's slide was intentional, as opposed to last year's...I don't even know what to call it - read the link above for the description of that slow motion fluke.

So I got my leg all wrapped up in my gauze pads that I have in bulk cause I know I'll need them each and every year whether intentional or not so intentional.

And my big fat cat is staring at me saying, hey, it's time for sleep so guess I should stop rambling and put the laptop down so he can fall asleep on my stomach as usual.

Songs of the Weekend:

Black Hold Sun - Soundgarden

cause I always sing "Bob of sponge, won't you come?" when I golf.

Raise Your Glass - Pink

i'm posting this version because i like watching michelle pfeiffer's character attempt to dance.

awesomeness.

it took me until this exact moment to realize that they were in hairspray together.

woops.

to be fair her character in that was the polar opposite of her character in this.

and i don't really pay attention to his credits.

though he does have some nice dance moves.
