"We say no to love, yes."

Another instance of "My boss is cooler than your boss" today as mine let me come in 2-4 instead of my regularly scheduled 4-6.

So, still got to sleep in, made lunch, watched a massive amount of Diners, Driveins and Dives because it's overloading my DVR, went in for two hours, then headed out to see the boyfriend.

We went to see "The Internship".

Scale of Awesome says 6/10.

Purely for the ending.

And for the real life Quidditch.

The boyfriend was like, "why do they have brooms?"

Most of the time I just wanted to smack them.

Stupid humor just irks me.

I mean, in some movies its okay, like Dodgeball or Austin Powers, but any Will Ferrell movie of any kind I cannot stand.

And of course he made an appearance in this one.

I don't know what happened, he was so great on SNL!

There were a lot of "smack them" moments, but it turned out okay in the end

Was nice though after the movie cause we just sat outside and talked for hours.

Decided to go back to Worlds of Fun in a couple weeks.

This time we'll have the whole weekend so we don't have to drive home in the middle of the night so I can work the next day.

That's all I got for today.

I know, I'm boring.

Song of the day:

Too Much - Spice Girls

ah, the 90's.

Watching The Voice.

Not all that impressed.

Which sucks as it's down to the top 5.

Two go home tomorrow leaving the top 3 for next week's finale.

Already?!

Did Usher just use the word "amazeballs"?

Came home to even more on my DVR, totally forgot Major Crimes was back this week along with King & Maxwell.

Which I guess is based off of novels by David Baldacci.

Means I'll have to start reading them.

Even more on my list.

I'll tell you once more, before I get off the floor

I love weekends off.

I get to go to church and jam with the family.

Get things done in the apartment - laundry, dishes, homework, etc.

Yesterday was nice cause I got to sleep in and do all that fun family stuff, today was similar.

Went to late service church where I was surprised to run into my college roommate Myers (even though she's married now and has a different last name and i was in the wedding she'll always be Myers) who was there because our high school friend's baby was being baptized.

We also went to high school together before rooming together in college.

Many memories were made that year.

Moving her massive futon and then dropping it because of the shock from hearing Avril Lavigne singing in a different language was one of them.

No, we had a lot of fun. Watched a lot of Gilmore Girls. Ate a lot of chips and cheese.

We weren't so social with our hall neighbors.

Mostly because our hallmates were very like, preppy?

Yeah, preppy, let's go with that.

And we clearly are not the preppy type.

Anyway, was not expecting to see her this morning so that was exciting. So she sat by us and I got to hold her cute baby.

And of course Squirt is sitting right next to me and he was making faces at her, it was super cute.

It was kind of like a high school reunion there we had Myers, Beej, Bryan, JoJo, Amos, Michael, Kelly, Ben, I'm sure there were more but I'm blanking.

After church went over to Oldest Sister's for burgers.

Which Squirt grilled.

And Bubby made the mac-n-cheese.

So proud.

He also had to show off his Soda Stream machine.

Mmmm cream soda.

Tempted to buy one, cheaper and healthier...cause I drink a lot of pop.

We watched Red and jammed out 'til about 3:30.

After which I had to head home and start on some homework for this week.

Along with putting all those books on the new shelves.

Which, may not take as much time for an average person as it took me.

But I'm a shelver at heart, so if I get a fiction book with the last name starting with an A I have to shift them all over so that it's shelved correctly.

These new ones are nice because the shelves are taller and there are more of them - I actually still have space so now I have an excuse to buy more books - but I was also able to put out my writing binders.

I took a lot of writing classes in college, so there are quite a few of them.

This is the final arrangement.

For now.

With holes for the Harry Potter that Oldest Sister stole, Revolution that Smo stole, and David Sedaris that Second Sister stole.

So now I have four bookshelves, and it's amusing because just like the library there's like a whole James Patterson section. I have 20+ of his books, though since he writes like 5 a year that's not even half of the amount published.

I can see my floor again!

Though that whole open space by the balcony thing has failed because now instead of a foosball table there's a giant empty box.

Ugh.

Will take it out tomorrow.

I was excited to find those writing binders though cause I was flipping through them and ran into this life timeline activity.

Here was mine:

Birth
Baptism
Kindergarten
Grade School
Confirmed
High School
Driving
Graduate
College
Graduate
Get a Job
Get Married
Adopt a Kid
Retire
Suffer Endlessly - there was a big space after that one
Choke on a Jawbreaker

Can't remember if that was a Juwanna or KJ reference but I found it entertaining.

So far I'm good on the list, next up is that whole marriage thing.

Though that would involve him proposing.

Which I'm starting to think really isn't going to happen for a very long time.

Mostly because his sister is getting married so he gets to hear all the wedding talk nonstop and that has frightened him off.

But we shall see.

Watching Diners, Drive-ins and Dives again.

Gotta clear it out of the DVR so it can add more.

Dang those marathons, you cause overcrowding!!

Anyway, it was a good day - jamming with Myers, eating with the family, finishing my bookshelves and watching some DDD.

Hoping tomorrow will be good.

Squirt is coming in to work on her library golf hole in the morning, which reminds me that I need to email Superwoman.

Alright, on to the music and I'm out.

Another Song You Know But Forgot You Knew It

Don't Bring Me Down - ELO

will be sad when my free trial xm is gone, but not enough to make me subscribe to it.

got my ipod i rarely listen to the radio anyway.

alright, i'm out.

"I'm being beaten up by a guy called Rupert?"

Question of the day: How many people drown when lifeguards run to them in slow motion?

Joking.

Been watching too much Wipeout.

Okay, sad fact.

It's 11:30 and I'm totally dead tired.

I'm not gonna make it 'til midnight.

Not that I'm aiming to, I'm just usually up til 1 or 2.

Cause I get distracted and then remember I have all this stuff to do - like post - and it's like midnight when I get to it.

Which explains why this morning was awful.

Fell asleep last night around 3.

I don't even know why, I just couldn't get comfortable.

My back is still messed up.

The boyfriend gave me a massage and it's still out of whack.

Should probably do something about it but don't have the time.

Cause tomorrow is the kickoff party!!

I'm gonna die.

Holy crap, I'm nervous.

Like last year, I helped, but I wasn't in charge.

This year I came up with the list of activities for the kids to choose from, I cleared everything with the bosses, shopped for all the supplies, collaborated with outside sponsors, put everything together, came up with the flyers, and now I'm freaked that I'm missing something.

Though that's what my mentor's around for, she and I went over everything in the afternoon.

Quote of the day:
"Such a random combination for a closet, you've got coats, a laptop, and buckets of sand?"

Aside from all that planning chaos the second floor still looks like a crime scene.

Here's our computer lab currently.

Photo: Crime scene

The tape is appropriate, but it's a process.

Basically what's going on is we're getting new computers with a grant so our old computers are getting moved to the back corner where the biographies used to be for a computer classes/staff training lab. The new ones are gonna go where the old ones were, except without the raised floors and fishbowl walls.

However, the new computers aren't in yet.

So in the meantime the patrons are using our staff lab over in the back corner, but still have to sign in in the regular spot.

And the staff lab has the walls up around it.

But I think they're different walls than before.

Or there are less of them or something, I don't know.

It looks a lot smaller than it did.

Like I said it's a process.

A very long and delayed process that started about 2 years ago with Fearless Leader in charge.

Aaannd now she's been gone for over a year.

So that was my workday. Along with some more training.

Tonight the boyfriend came up - yes more storms and rain, that's what like 5 days in a row now?

Or is it 6?

We watched Lockout.

Scale of Awesome says 6/10.

I do like Guy Pearce.

And it was nice seeing him as the good guy after seeing him go all psycho crazy on Iron Man 3.

It had its moments but that trailer is completely misleading.

Snow actually gets betrayed by his own team and gets forced to go on this mission or he'll be stuck in that prison.

As opposed to the trailer saying people recommended him for it.

Langral: I don't like hurting you, Snow.
Snow: Is that why you're having him do it?
Langral: I can have Rupert bludgeon you all night.
Snow: I'm being beaten up by a guy called Rupert?

Snow: Ok, see here on the map?
Emilie Warnock: Yeah.
Snow: That's where the pod is. You get in it, you fly away. The good guys will come and get you, ok?
Emilie Warnock: On my own?
Snow: You're a big girl, right? Here's an apple and a gun. Don't talk to strangers, shoot them.

And that was my night.

Now I'm gonna fall asleep watching some Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.

Cause it's taking over my DVR.

Marathons are good, except when you get behind on watching them. Then it's just an overload.

Song of the day:

Someone That You're With - Nickelback

bet that video took a long time to put together.

yeah, yeah, i know, it's a Nickelback song and they're awful.

but i like this one and used to listen to it all the time in high school.

besides, he's married to Avril Lavigne so he can't be that bad...right?

*cough* right.

out at 11:59, holy crap tag in use.

closer to heaven above and closer to you...

Gotta love librarians.

When you get a room full of them it's quite the party.

See, the stereotype is that we're all super quite and like to shush people when the truth is we're the loudest ones of the bunch.

I don't think I've ever seen a librarian shush someone.

Maybe once as a joke.

Anyway, tonight was the grad party for the lucky ones of us who are done this spring and summer.

The rest of us have to tough it out until fall. For me first completing 9 more credits along with my 90 hour practicum at the Regional Center and then comps which is the week from hell.

Basically you write 4 dissertations and you have a week to complete it.

And there's no grades just pass/fail.

So I'll be taking the week off of work for that.

Along with all the time for the practicum because the Regional Center is only open during the week 8-5.

And I work 9-6 soooo I'll basically have to take like 4 weeks of vacation - at least. But I can't do it all at once cause I don't want to lose my job.

And I don't know if I even have that much vacation.

I guess we shall see.

Maybe I can work weekends and take weekdays off for a while.

I don't know, I'll talk to Superwoman about it and come up with a plan with Tom.

He'll be my Mr. Boss Man Sir for those 90 hours.

Where was I?

Right, the party, so I got to play bartender.

Obviously she knows my family.

The boyfriend would find that hysterical because he's convinced that I don't drink.

Although my brother thinks I don't either.

The truth is, I do, just not a lot.

Like I'll have one. Like every 3 months or so.

And that's usually only because I'm out with my sisters or him or it's some sort of family party.

I just don't see the point if it's not a social situation, you know?

Hence the build-up of liquor in my fridge.

But the party was great. She had a nacho bar along with animal crackers for the kiddos. Everyone brought their significant other (except David who brought his kid), minus me cause the boyfriend was busy fixing stuff. It actually flew by pretty quickly.

Kinda like the program.

I still feel like I just started and it's already gonna be over. Same with the GA duties, can't believe it's already been 2 semesters since I took over.

But I guess it has been a while. I did start in Spring of 2011.

And now I'll end in fall of 2013.

So it's kind of backwards but that's okay.

We talked hoods today.

Annette brought hers, gonna have to figure out how to order that and robes and all that.

And figure out exactly where I'm going. But I'm guessing the Library Goddess knows all about it. She's been doing it for years.

And she is going over there in the fall.

As is my boss and the Cool Aunt.

Superwoman claims the three of them can carpool and talk about me.

Not allowed.

Anyway, the party was fun. The usual gang of course. I really like these guys. I'll be sad when it's over but I'm sure I'll see them all over. One of them works down the street and stops by the library every once in a while.

Apparently she stopped by a couple of weeks ago and asked if I was there and I wasn't.

Which is rare.

So she turned around and walked out.

"I probably should have checked out a book or something..."

Geez library student.

It's okay.

Speaking of books, so I'm still stalling on finishing Silver Linings Playbook.

I literally have 20 pages left and my coworkers laugh cause I've had 20 pages left for like 2 weeks.

BUT I DON'T WANT IT TO END!

I love it.

AND! I got the DVD today so I'm gonna watch it tonight.

Probably fall asleep in the process because it is after midnight - I really need to stop doing this - but that's okay cause I already know how it ends.

But it's been so long since we saw it in theaters that I want to compare and contrast with what's in the book and decide which one I like best.

Cause BossLady asked and I couldn't answer completely.

Even though the characters are different I still see them as the actors that played them.

Which is backwards cause if you read the book first then you get images in your mind and then the movie comes out and you're pissed cause they don't match up.

Like everyone was mad when Tom Cruise got cast at Jack Reacher cause he was nothing like what's in the book, however, Tom Cruise bought the rights to the character so he got to play him.

Apparently he does that with a lot of characters.

But I'm confused, does that effect the writer of the novels?

I don't know quite how that works.

I'll look it up tomorrow.

Alright, I need to konk out but yes today was good.

Slept in 'til 1, went to the dentist at 2, NO CAVATIES! It was a chick dentist this time. She told me my teeth looked "super" and that I was good to go.

I cheered.

You know me and my experiences at the dentist.

Go here

After that I came home, watched some SVU - gotta love TV marathons - then headed over to the party.

After which I came home, watched some DDD - which would be even better if I was a chef and could recreate the recipes - and now I'm out.

Music: Going back to a classic.

Cowboy Take Me Away - Dixie Chicks

thinking about doing a week of my favorites. in which case i'd have to repost goodbye earl. along with many others.

hmmm....

Carter is sleeping but he's all twitchy.

Wonder what he's dreaming about....

The D is silent.

Okay, I've found a new obsession.

Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.

First it was The Voice.

Then it was falling asleep to Storage Wars.

Then it was falling asleep to home remodeling shows.

Now it's DDD.

What the crap is with this reality kick?

I hate reality TV.

Which I blame on my father.

With his newfound love of Swamp People, Ax Men, Duck Dynasty, oh there's more, what are the other ones, umm Big Shrimping.... the O'Reilly Factor.

Okay so that's news.

Well, "news"

More dramatic than others.

There's more but I can't remember them.

I posted on here ages ago his DVR lineup.

See if I can find it.

Ha, here it is.

American Pickers.

Pawn Stars.

American Restoration.

He was hooked on like was it Orange Choppers or something like that?

That motorcycle show?

Anyway, something is seriously wrong.

But it's okay, I've been watching a lot of movies to make up for it.

Last night the boyfriend returned.

Picked him up at the truck place and drove him back here where we watched Django Unchained and Game Change.

I know, a rather random combination, but it worked.

Here's Django.

if you're not gonna watch the movie you should at least watch this next clip.

apparently my brother loved it.

Scale of Awesome says about 7/10.

It was entertaining.

And even though it was long it was worth it.

I really like Christoph Waltz and it was interesting to see him play a good guy.

Cause he does that like never.

And Jamie Foxx was pretty great.

After that was Game Change.

this movie totally gave me pause.

like, was this a complete dramatization or was she really that ridiculous?

If you are a fan of politics.

Okay, no one's a fan of politics, let's go with, if you like controversy.

Okay, no bad again, how about if you like political controversy?

Does that work? If they're combined?

It shouldn't, but it does.

Then this is the movie for you.

Totally makes me think about what could have happened.

Scale of Awesome says 8/10, I was totally intrigued by the whole movie.

And since that didn't get over until like 3 and he wasn't going in to work he slept in and brought me my keys.

Queen of the Known Universe missed him yet again, as did Wordie.

HOWEVER...

So we're standing by the door and I see Superwoman going to talk to the guards and I'm thinking, oh here we go...

Cause she calls him "Stude" which I think is hilarious.

He was the "York Dude" and then it just evolved, anyway, so now it's Stude. So she came over and asked if he was "Stude".

Then after I walked him out and came back in she was like, "he's good looking!"

I died.

But he is.

Total Stud.

Total Stude.

Love it.

Anyway, work was kind of slow, but that helped.

After work I had an online meeting with my professor. I have to do an online presentation and even though I have the presentation done - I know, shocking, like months in advance and it's done - I don't know anything about the software so she basically went over it with me.

Feel much better about it now.

Now it's just about signing up for times to present and all that.

Week 15.

Basically the first week of May.

Which is also when my last assignment for Internet Reference is due.

But that's fine, cause like I said, it's done.

I just have to go over my notes so I can figure out what to say.

It's pretty much self-explanatory.

Well, what's become self-explanatory for me.

My topic is Diversity in Young Adult Programming.

Of which I've had a lot of time to work with lately.

And it was really easy.

Like, I knew where to look for sources, I already had ideas for programming on my own, I was actually excited about this topic.

Which is probably why it was done months in advance.

Getting pumped for our summer reading events.

Library Golf is gonna kick my ass, but it's gonna be worth it.

Alright, back to DDD. Here's your music.
