I could write a blog. I have thoughts.

Life at the library, adventures with friends and other hysterics...

Giving you all of my heart was a good start but it turns out you want my soul.

Carter killed the bug.

Remember the one from earlier this week that I whiffed when I attempted to kill it and then was horrified about when it would make a second appearance?

Was staring at the wall and suddenly pounced.

My hero.

Though it scared the crap out of me cause I had no idea what was going on.

Good cat.

For once his excess energy paid off.

So he got treats.

Today was fun.

Got to work at the home branch with two of my favorites - the Queen of Awesome and Space Cadet.

Plus a special guest appearance by Superwoman.

And my favorite volunteer who comes in every Tuesday and processes all the holds and new books.

Always gives me the glare when I find more in the tubs and put them on her cart.

"you about done?"

Was very busy the whole day, barely got to sit down all morning - which is good.

I signed up like 10 people for summer reading today alone.

Think I've signed up that many total since it started at the work branch.

But that's because we direct them to the volunteer table.

And of course they all had to sign up when I was alone on the desk trying to manage the constant phone calls and line of people.

But that's the norm.

I think they wait 'til we're alone to strike.

Like, oo, look! That one has been abandoned by the herd. Let's strike her while she's alone.

Anyway, went out for lunch with the Queen of Awesome. Freaky fast subs plus some chips and a pickle for her.

It was seriously the king of all pickles, like a gigantor mega pickle.

Gonna have to get one next time I go in.

After lunch I headed back and got to work with Space Cadet.

I love Space Cadet. We always have so much. She makes fun of me cause I can't cook, I make fun of her cause she doesn't know how to work her iPod, we debate things like who would win in a fight a sea cow or a snow leopard, you just never know what's gonna happen.

Though today I only had like 2 hours with her and like I said we were swamped so there was no debating.

A bit of making fun of, but no debates.

Came home, did some camp paperwork, watched the Swon Brothers again beat out 2 women that should have smoked them but they have all of Oklahoma behind them so they're safe.

No way they're better than Judith, Sarah and Sasha.

Now both Adam and Shakira are out.

It is cool they were all still in it up to this point. Last year Xtina was out way early with her all-pop team.

I was really pulling for Sasha to come through.

Now I'm rooting for Michelle and Danielle but guessing Danielle is gonna win it mostly because her iTunes downloads have been off the charts and they all count as part of the final tally.

After all that did homework, posted it, got on here and now I'm gonna crash cause I'm exhausted.

Song of the day:

Don't Know Nothing - Maroon 5 live version

cause it was stuck in my head all day.

like all day.

and yes i know i posted it earlier this year during Maroon 5 week, but it's still in my head.

you'll just have to deal as the obsession continues.

i'm tired of proving you right by doing everything so wrong...

Holy snowstorm, Batman.

Didn't see this one coming.

Thought it'd be a couple inches, it's still freakin' snowing.

Libraries closed early today apparently - I wasn't there, but it's the second time this year.

But I'm sure we'll be open tomorrow.

The Powers That Be are stubborn like that.

So I'll have to get up like an hour earlier than normal cause I know I'm gonna get stuck.

Even with my brand new shovel and ice melt.

I did leave and go to Target at one point today. I made it there and back fine, it was parking in my parking lot that was a problem cause it was all drifted. So tomorrow's really gonna suck.

But I needed to get the damn candy bars and iTunes card for Teen Tech Week.

Went with those hershey's, mr. goodbar, etc etc mixes. krackle? Is that another one in there? I can't remember and they're in the car so I ain't going to check.

Anyway, nothing major, not sure how many teens are actually going to participate anyway, but I'm hoping more than two. I'll call that a victory if I get more than two.

Which reminds me that I need to send out a reminder email tomorrow when I go in.

What else did I do today?

Oh yeah, so there was supposed to be that practicum meeting with the Library Goddess at the grad school but she cancelled it so we're just gonna do it during our usual meet on Thursday along with our last newsletter.

Sad day, this went by far too fast.

I remember actually back when it all started, I had first entered the program and we were putting together my schedule and she's like okay "so you'll take three then and then and what? I only get your for two semesters?!" Cause you have to be a fulltime student taking 9 credits to be a graduate assistant.

And then I went to the Volunteer Appreciate Banquet and met her first graduate assistant who just happens to be one of our libraries' branch managers now and she was like, "oh yeah, I got 2-4 hours of sleep per night but you can handle it for a couple of months." "I'm actually doing it for two semesters." "oh....well good luck."

Ha, well it turned out okay. I was really expecting it to be more, like constant work and stuff but she's really good with scheduling and working around my job job, and she has another GA for the UNO program as well who's physically there. Works across from her and the Cool Aunt.

I'm gonna miss it, along with the program.

But again, don't take that as a statement about going on for a Doctorate. Our family can live with one doctor.

So anyway, the meeting got cancelled so I went back to sleep.

Woke up in the afternoon to type of the transcript of yesterday's interview and sent that in. Tomorrow I'll write the overview and comment on others' posts.

Meanwhile I finished Murder in Suburbia. Season Two.

I requested the first but they sent me the second.

Which I didn't notice until further inspection. The case says series 2 but the sticker on top season 1.

But I enjoyed it, gotta love British humor and Ash and Scribbs are an amusing duo.

"What are my rules about fun?"
"Not here, not now?"

So now I'll re-request it.

Now it's on to Lie To Me.

Carter's sitting in his chair staring at me. Usually he's konked out next to me by now but I think he's tired of me cause I was home all day. So now I just get the glare.

It is his place, I just stay here.

Alright, I'm off to bed. Early morning tomorrow cause of the snow.

More of Maroon 5's greatest hits, take 6.

Don't Know Nothing

catchy give it a chance.

Never Gonna Leave This Bed

I Can't Lie

another catchy one, one of those songs that brightens your day, quickens your steps and makes you wanna dance. gotta listen to it to get what i'm talking about.

If I'm doing a fake movie it's gonna be a fake hit.

Went to see Argo tonight with the boyfriend.

It was...interesting.

No, I shouldn't say it like that. It was good, very educational, but we were like a couple minutes late so the beginning was a bit confusing. If you didn't know your history you'd be totally lost, but I'm guessing there was some explanation given and we just missed it.

Anyway, I'd recommend it, Scale of Awesome is gonna say 6/10, but that's only because it was good but I don't plan on watching it again. I think it's definitely worth seeing, cause it's a great portrayal of an important moment in American history that you may not know about.

Which makes me sound like a nerd, but that's all I can really put into words about it.

Go see it and you'll get it. It's worth it.

"this is the best bad idea we have sir, by far."

I liked the actors in their roles, Ben Affleck was very good as lead (and as director) then you got some comic relief with Alan Alda and John Goodman, and it drove me nuts all night trying to think of her name but Clea DuVall as one of the hostages. She's guest starred in a lot of the shows I used to watch on a regular basis - Grey's, Bones, Saving Grace, SVU, etc. plus she had minor roles in She's All That and Can't Hardly Wait which are two of my favorite high school movies so it was driving me crazy.

There really is only one quote worthy of repeating, and I can't on here as it is vulgarity and I'm attempting to censor myself since people actually read this.

So go see it and it's repeated enough to stick with you, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.

After that we started one of the Bond movies, "A View To A Kill" - he has the whole collection so it was more of a pick a box then pick a number and we'll start there kind of situation. So far it's pretty good, weird to see Christopher Walken so young. And his femme fatale sidekick is a little creepy...but we only got halfway through so more on that later.

Then I got to drive through the massive crazy fog that was super creepy, I could only see like 5 feet ahead of me, thankfully there were only a few people actually crazy enough to be on the road so it wasn't so bad traffic-wise.

But it was weird cause there would be areas with no fog at all so I'd speed up thinking it was done, then it was like doubled up on the other side of the hill so I had to slow back down.

But I made it.

Obviously.

Alright, on to The Voice, cause you knew that was coming.

Currently my top 20 is dominating as I have 17 of them left. Right now my list looks like this:

Cassadee Pope
Trevin Hunte
Nicole Nelson
Aquile
Avery Wilson
Bryan Keith

Brandon Mahone – eliminated after first battle
Michelle Brooks-Thompson
Adriana Louise
Collin Mcloughlin
Terisa Griffin
Suzanna Choffel
Nelly’s Echo – eliminated after first battle
Melanie Martinez
Gracia Harrison
Celica Westbrook
Mycle Wastman
Mackenzie Bourg
2Steel Girls – eliminated after first battle
Joe Kirkman

Tonight Adrianna Louise dominated over Disney star Jordan Pruitt and Avery Wilson knocked out Gaga background singer Chevonne who was then stolen by X-Tina so now the teams are full and moving on.

Aaannd, since more contestants have been added to the competition this year they've added in another twist, the Knockout round where the coaches pair their singers and their singers pick a song to sing for their coach.  So basically the same as the battle rounds except they'll be singing different songs at different times. So song choice is very important.

I'm interested to see how this works but the teams are at 10 each, they gotta knock it down to 5 for the live rounds.

Alright, on to the music:
Going with Maroon 5 - lesson known songs but still awesome

forgot how much i love this whole cd, but second sister is making playlists which lead me to the last cd she gave me - Hands All Over - which i listened to over and over for like 2 months straight.

Don't Know Nothing

I Can't Lie

ps - they're coming to omaha with neon trees and owl city, which would be like one of the best concerts ever. just saying. if anyone's interested let me know.

Registration tomorrow morning so I get to semi-sleep in yet not cause I'll be freaking out until everything is official. But I don't go in until 1 so I'll get some laundry and other stuff around here done, woohoo!
