"Wait."
I miss the Library Goddess.
It's been so weird not seeing her almost every other week.
We met up for supper with the new GA - another one of my fun classmates.
It's semi-depressing because by the time you finally get close to your classmates you're done with the program.
But I guess that goes with the whole half online thing and then half only meet once a month thing.
The meeting was fun.
We did more joking around than business as usual.
I've learned not to argue when the check comes. Though it was highly entertaining because we all ordered these burgers and they were MASSIVE but I'm pretty sure we all ate like 10 bites total.
But that's okay, more leftovers for me.
I told Superwoman I was going to dinner with the LG and asked if there was anything I should pass on - cause they're friends and they fight about who's boss #1 and who's boss #2 - and she said, "nah, we'll talk about you tomorrow at golf."
Not cool.
Oh, and apparently she'll always be my boss, even if she has a new GA.
We've already had that conversation.
Glad to end the night on a high note as the preceding part of the day was crazy.
Lost my datebook - but it was in the car. I seriously need to duct tape that in my pocket or get a tool belt or something.
Was on the front desk the first 2 hours and I think I got like 2 minutes of peace the entire 2 hours.
Which is good, I'd rather be busy than bored.
Chicken sandwich for lunch. Apparently they're doing specials every day now instead of Thursdays. Which is good for when I only get half an hour to eat.
More busyness in the afternoon but it did slow down the last hour so that I could update my TAB stuff and come up with a semi-plan for my weekend schedule.
The semi-part included marking down the weekends that I know I can't work and then planning to talk to my boyfriend about the rest.
Easier that way and I always feel bad when I ask to switch with people.
Though it's hard to know your schedule 5 months in advance.
Especially this fall with the whole practicum thing.
I'm thinking instead of working every Saturday from mid-August to December 1st that I could work every other Saturday and then I'll just use 8 hours of vacation every other week.
There's no way I can keep whatever sanity I have left if I work every weekend for months and months.
"She's got it made, Marian!"
Sorry, more Wipeout.
Another way to keep my sanity in place.
But now I'm zonked. Another long day tomorrow so I'm off to bed.
Oh PS - Karmin's new single has officially been released on iTunes so you should now all go and buy it.
Why yes, I am aware that this is the third time I've posted it in like 3 weeks, but that's only cause it's that good.
More sanity.
and i'm out.
I could write a blog. I have thoughts.
Life at the library, adventures with friends and other hysterics...

on the edge of seventeen.
It's handy when you're aware of how much of a morning person you are not.
Something like setting an alarm days early because you know you'll forget day-of is quite helpful.
Though a bit confusing when you wake up to your phone alarm going off at 7AM and don't remember why you set it for 7 and not the usual 8.
Oh, meeting, right.
Last coffee with the Library Goddess.
As her GA anyway.
Stoked for tomorrow's party.
Basically we go to Mizzou even though it's online. So for graduation we can either drive there and walk the stage or they can mail us our diplomas. Since it's a far drive and not everyone is going over the Library Goddess is throwing the graduates a party at her house.
And since I'm her GA I get to go even though I don't graduate until December.
I get to pour margaritas, I'm excited. The same crew I'm sure. I love our gang, they're highly entertaining.
Digital Beef Derby Girls.
Black and white uniforms with a QR code on the back. Awesomeness.
Anyway, so today work was pure crapsuck.
The morning coffee was good but it was over early so I went over to work early and basically fell back asleep downstairs - but set an alarm so I'd wake up at 9 for work.
Note to self - never do that again. You will be dead on your feet until noon.
I was literally a walking zombie until lunch.
So the work day started off crappy cause all I wanted to do was sleep - it doesn't help that I keep going to bed at 2AM, that needs to change.
And then the work day ended crappy cause I got yelled at for something that's not my fault.
And there were still like 10 patrons in the library after closing and all I wanted to do was get the heck out of there and go see my boyfriend.
Which I did. We went out for supper and then watched Collateral.
We seem to be on a Tom Cruise kick. Saw Oblivion earlier this week, Jack Reacher on our anniversary, etc.
Not bad, scale of awesome rates it at about 6/10. Jamie Foxx was fantastic. And Tom Cruise had gray hair the whole movie, totally freaked me out. But he played it well.
And the boyfriend's Mom gave me a May Day basket. I feel special.
But he fixed it all, as always. I no longer feel crapish or suckish.
Anyway, after I got back I watched, well am watching Win Win.
It's pretty good actually. Normally I'm not a fan of Paul Giamatti, not that I don't like him, I just don't search out his movies, but he's not bad in this one.
The kid is brilliant - Alex Shaffer. He was actually a wrestling champion before he became an actor.
I knew the assistant coach from something and it was driving me nuts so I had to look it up. Bobby Cannavale. Will & Grace. That's right. Okay, we're good now.
Anyway, scale of awesome says about an 8/10 for this one.
Okay, yes, it is 2AM and yes I am not sleeping.
But in my defense I am off tomorrow and don't have to be up until my dentist appointment in the afternoon.
Of which I should double check my schedule so I can figure out what time exactly I need to be up.
Alright, on to the music:
Edge of Seventeen - Stevie Nicks
whoa, classic video.
though every time i hear the song i think of this:
oh, joan cusack. you are highly entertaining.

i'm tired of proving you right by doing everything so wrong...
Holy snowstorm, Batman.
Didn't see this one coming.
Thought it'd be a couple inches, it's still freakin' snowing.
Libraries closed early today apparently - I wasn't there, but it's the second time this year.
But I'm sure we'll be open tomorrow.
The Powers That Be are stubborn like that.
So I'll have to get up like an hour earlier than normal cause I know I'm gonna get stuck.
Even with my brand new shovel and ice melt.
I did leave and go to Target at one point today. I made it there and back fine, it was parking in my parking lot that was a problem cause it was all drifted. So tomorrow's really gonna suck.
But I needed to get the damn candy bars and iTunes card for Teen Tech Week.
Went with those hershey's, mr. goodbar, etc etc mixes. krackle? Is that another one in there? I can't remember and they're in the car so I ain't going to check.
Anyway, nothing major, not sure how many teens are actually going to participate anyway, but I'm hoping more than two. I'll call that a victory if I get more than two.
Which reminds me that I need to send out a reminder email tomorrow when I go in.
What else did I do today?
Oh yeah, so there was supposed to be that practicum meeting with the Library Goddess at the grad school but she cancelled it so we're just gonna do it during our usual meet on Thursday along with our last newsletter.
Sad day, this went by far too fast.
I remember actually back when it all started, I had first entered the program and we were putting together my schedule and she's like okay "so you'll take three then and then and what? I only get your for two semesters?!" Cause you have to be a fulltime student taking 9 credits to be a graduate assistant.
And then I went to the Volunteer Appreciate Banquet and met her first graduate assistant who just happens to be one of our libraries' branch managers now and she was like, "oh yeah, I got 2-4 hours of sleep per night but you can handle it for a couple of months." "I'm actually doing it for two semesters." "oh....well good luck."
Ha, well it turned out okay. I was really expecting it to be more, like constant work and stuff but she's really good with scheduling and working around my job job, and she has another GA for the UNO program as well who's physically there. Works across from her and the Cool Aunt.
I'm gonna miss it, along with the program.
But again, don't take that as a statement about going on for a Doctorate. Our family can live with one doctor.
So anyway, the meeting got cancelled so I went back to sleep.
Woke up in the afternoon to type of the transcript of yesterday's interview and sent that in. Tomorrow I'll write the overview and comment on others' posts.
Meanwhile I finished Murder in Suburbia. Season Two.
I requested the first but they sent me the second.
Which I didn't notice until further inspection. The case says series 2 but the sticker on top season 1.
But I enjoyed it, gotta love British humor and Ash and Scribbs are an amusing duo.
"What are my rules about fun?"
"Not here, not now?"
So now I'll re-request it.
Now it's on to Lie To Me.
Carter's sitting in his chair staring at me. Usually he's konked out next to me by now but I think he's tired of me cause I was home all day. So now I just get the glare.
It is his place, I just stay here.
Alright, I'm off to bed. Early morning tomorrow cause of the snow.
More of Maroon 5's greatest hits, take 6.
Don't Know Nothing
catchy give it a chance.
Never Gonna Leave This Bed
I Can't Lie
another catchy one, one of those songs that brightens your day, quickens your steps and makes you wanna dance. gotta listen to it to get what i'm talking about.

We're just like you, only prettier.
Geez, a girl has a crappy day and doesn't post for a couple days and you guys go all crazy.
Think I got more phone calls, texts, emails and Facebook messages than I got for the "life sucks and then you die" fiasco a few months ago.
Yes Thursday was for crap but it's not the reason I've been off the radar, I actually had some semblance of a life the past couple days. Don't worry, I won't be going off the grid anytime soon. Even if I am banished up north.
Friday: Worked 9-6, Fearless Leader is on her last few days so we got together at Slim Shady's place after. Though we were all super zonked out so booze cakes with the girls turned into order pizza, drink beer and vedge out of Slim Shady's couch. We turned on Hunger Games but as it was a library DVD it skipped out a few scenes in. We saw it in theaters so were going to throw out some commentary. Didn't really matter though, by the time it started skipping we weren't watching anyway. Spent the majority of the time talking and joking around. I'll miss that. Stupid Kansas.
Quotes of the night:
-"How many library service associates does it take to find parking?"
-"How many library service associates does it take to roll up a window?"
-"Do you know what it's about?"
-"It has pretty pictures."
-"They had fancy pugs."
-"That's an oxymoron."
Since I had class the next morning and had to leave at 6:30 I figured getting back to my apartment past midnight was probably staying up late enough so I crashed figuring I would post the next day.
Didn't happen.
Saturday: First official day as a Graduate Assistant. Intro to Info Tech was supposed to start in the library at 8:30. As I'm the GA I got there at 8, which was actually good since when I showed up the doors were locked. I texted the Library Goddess and she came over like, "what?!" Yup, all doors locked even though they had just double checked on Thursday. Left us all flailing so we moved to the new building instead. However, since we moved and there was no advanced warning the Library Goddess stayed and directed people from there and I got to loiter in the hallway directing traffic in the building.
It was amusing cause one of the professors thought that I was lost cause I was like walking back and forth and I'm like, nope I'm good. Then she squints and was like, "oh you're _____ niece!" Yep, I get that a lot around there. It's rather amusing. The Cool Aunt is pretty popular.
Anyway, after the flailage was my first class of the semester. Also amusing is that my professor works for the same library system as I do so there was a lot of LCL references at which I had to smirk. It was a good class. She's a good teacher, skipped the parts that weren't necessary so we got out early.
Got to hand out some contact forms, today as well, along with library barcode numbers. And I got to erase a board and bring Library Goddess coffee....GA life is good.
Hey, it pays for my tuition. It's easy for now, there will be more in the upcoming weeks.
So early morning plus class meant I was pretty zonked by the time the boyfriend came over in the afternoon. But that's okay cause he was out as well. Basically watched part of the Hunger Games, some Wipeout, Shawshank, Silence of the Lambs - oh my god nightmare central, disgusting - and then some standup.
Did I mention we were zonked? By the time we looked at the clock it was far past midnight and since the weather was crap he slept here.
On the couch.
Though I don't know how much he actually slept since he works nights and sleeps days.
Sunday: Left around 11:30 for class today since I had to be there early again. Dressed up and all that, stopped for coffee, huzzah.
Reference 'til 4:30. Only 13 in the class so it was some good discussion. Yesterday's was 12, I'm liking these smaller class sizes but I guess that happens as you get farther into the program, similar to college.
Plus I know pretty much everybody there so that's cool. The Authentically Awesome One and Only KB is in it, along with one of our interns from this summer - she's in Info Tech with me as well - plus Sam who I've taken the last like 4 classes with. I think this is the first semester I don't have a class with David - face to face anyway, he is in my online one.
After that I came home, did some editing, watched some NCIS and jammed with Carter.
Though lately jamming with Carter has just been annoying. For this entire week straight all he does is bite. Like literally, I get home and I feed him and then he just keeps pouncing on me. I put him in the cage when it happens so it seems he spends more time in there then out here when I'm actually home. Frustrating. Will have to use my excellent reference skills to figure out what the heck his problem is.
So that was my weekend. Tomorrow is back to work, the same with the rest of this week. Will have to finish up that website, hopefully our tech guy will either approve it or tell me to change it and I can actually publish it before our first meeting.
Song of the day:
Only Prettier - Miranda Lambert
love the country music star cameos in that one.
Was totally jamming to that one on the way to the car after class and didn't hear the Authentically Awesome One and Only KB honk her car at me.
Yeah.
The headphones are loud.
Space Cadet says her hearing at 70 will be my hearing at 35. Actually I'm pretty sure that's in here somewhere.
It's okay, I caught her waving and we joked around for a while.
Was amusing, even though technically the AA1&O:KB - that's a tag for ya - left before I did she was in my rearview for most of the drive home. Only because the Cool Aunt taught me a shortcut for how to get out of there. Think I lost her around Gretna. Construction and all that.
Well, tomorrow is tomorrow so I'm going to crash.
