I could write a blog. I have thoughts.

"I'd rather take advice from a ham sandwich."

I don't know how, but Carter just knows.

Like when I'm having a bad day and I'm all emotional he just sits with me and doesn't bite or anything.

Sleeps all curled up on my stomach facing me to make sure I'm okay or something.

Last night was ridiculous. I hate throwing up, it's gross and awkward.

But what makes it even worse was that I think it was me and my messed up headspace that was making me sick in the first place.

Because I was fine all day - I felt off, but that's not unusual - and then I start freaking out about stuff and throw up. And then it just doesn't stop and I start burning up.

Just blah.

So I was up pretty late doing that, and then I was too hot to sleep so I watched Storage Wars.

Oh the excitement, I know.

Crashed about 3 or 4, woke up at 8 and Superwoman told me to stay home.

Which means tomorrow I'm gonna have a mega workload cause of all the stuff that needed to get done yesterday.

Mostly program planning stuff, need to submit everything to my bosses to they can approve it and send it on.

So today I slept it all off.

Woke up around noon. Watched Dredd.

4/10 on the Scale of Awesome. Oh my god cheesy. Like bad cheesy. I gave it a chance cause of Karl Urban but totally not worth it.

and Alex Cross

6/10 for that one, not so great either. More cheesy acting. I just can't take Tyler Perry seriously after all the Madea stuff. It's like taking Eddie Murphy seriously. Just doesn't happen.

After that I did homework.

Started at 4:30, just finished at 10:30.

All for the same assignment.

And freakin' furby McDermott decides that he's gonna wake up and talk nonstop in the middle of it.

Yay headphones.

But now it's done.

And submitted.

So now I'm gonna watch some Winter X-Games, thanks Instacake. DVR'ing the rest of them.

We're kind of nerds for all things X-Games.

oh my god, watch this commercial.

seriously?

Alright, women's halfpipe. I'm out.

oh, and remind me to not post again when i'm all emotional and rambly cause it causes people to call and panic.

like my mother.

twice.

pre-midnight post, holy crap tag in use.

"That sounds like an 80's acronym."

It all started with a conversation about stereotypes.

I'm pretty sure I'm turning into that librarian that makes people look at pictures of her cat. Cause the percentage of pictures I've uploaded on Facebook so far in 2013 is like 75% with cat, 25% not with cat.

And it's not like 100 pictures, it's like 5 so don't give me that look.

But he's cute and fluffy and sleeps all the time all over the place and I find it amusing when he sleeps next to McDermott the furby.

That he still hates, by the way.

Though I'm not its biggest fan when it turns on at 2AM just to ramble about being hungry or wanting to dance.

Anyway, so I said I'm turning into the stereotype cause I have a cat and I drink green tea to which BossLady asked if that means librarians are supposed to be hippies and that she composts - and she's quite proud of her compost - so then we got into this whole discussion about what goes into compost and how you're supposed to water your plants at night because the water evaporates during the day.

Then I asked her if she was one of those water police people who yells at you if you leave the faucet running whilst brushing your teeth to which she said she was and apparently in grade school they had this whole seminar on SWA SWA.

Which apparently stands for Save Water And Save Water Again.

Glad I wasn't drinking any water at the time cause there would have been multiple spit takes.

But SWA SWA had a salute and everything so from now on BossLady will be greeted with one cause I find it highly amusing.

Quote of the day:

"I loved growing up in the 80's"
"I grew up in the 80's"
"You were born in the 80's"

Then somehow we got on the subject of the farmhouse - oh I said Mom used to have a garden but then Dad put a building over the top of it. And she asked if we had a quanset to which I replied yes and I was stupid enough to have climbed to the top of it when snow had drifted that high.

Mom flipped, Dad went inside and got the camera.

So then the conversation shifted to how I was a brave kid, or an idiot kid, cause a few years before that was the running over to my grandparents house incident when I was like 3 or 4, barefoot on the gravel in the dark.

But it was at the scary part of the movie and I couldn't find my parents so I ran the half a mile to the safety of Grandpa's house and he drove me home and Mom and Dad didn't even realize I was gone!

To be fair they were helping Second Sister clean out a bin.

And you have to tag team those, you don't want to get hosed by the auger.

So I could blame my earliest memory on her but I kind of like her so I'll just call myself brave and be done with it.

And really that was the highlight of today. Everything else was pretty slow. Aside from the creepers everywhere, on the phone, in person, all that.

Blah magnet.

Well, the highlight of work anyway. I did a lot of homework tonight so I'm basically done until after the library visits this week.

Oh yeah, this week is gonna kick my butt.

Comps review Monday, special library tour Wednesday with homework to follow it, special library tour Thursday with homework to follow it, and then Trivia Night on Friday and I still haven't found anything to wear for Donna. I'm gonna have to look up some pictures of her in character and see if I have anything to cover.

Unless anybody has any fun 70's clothes they'd be willing to let me borrow for a night.

Anyway, I'm hoping to see the boyfriend either tomorrow or Tuesday, or both, so the other homework assignment that's due on Saturday I'll be doing throughout the week. Tonight's took far longer than it should have.

I hate coming up with smart people questions cause I always feel dumb.

Plus I'm an English major so phrasing gets to me and I start writing one question, changing it 50 times and then an hour later I change it back to how it originally was - which was fine I just was overanalyzing.

But it's homework and apparently I'm a perfectionist.

Anyway, it's late and I need to sleep. Carter is already decked out beside me.

Don't worry, I won't drown you in pictures. I'll save it for Facebook.

Though he is pretty cute.

Alright, on to the music so I can sleep.

Runaround Sue - Dion and the Belmonts

i used to sing this to my high school roommate.

not because she ran around, but because that was her name.

"and don't forget to pay the lady."

Holy crap, McDermott just woke up.

Scared the crap out of Carter.

Freakin' Furby.

So I was up 'til about 4 last night.

Couldn't sleep - combination of factors aka sickness and restlessness but I was really productive, verified by the fact that the Library Goddess emailed me back this morning with, "what were you doing up that late?!"

Went into work anyway cause I promised Slim Shady that I wouldn't miss her last day.

She got her dream schedule today and ended it with me closing down second floor.

Walking her out for the last time I had flashbacks of walking out Fearless Leader and taking her picture in front of the library.

Took Slim's picture in the workroom taking her name off her locker - see Facebook.

Same frickin' locker that attacked us - fell over on us and they're huge and heavy so Big Brother and Fearless Leader had to come on the run to save us.

AND NOW ALL THREE OF THEM ARE GONE, so the next time it tips I'm hosed.

See, when Fearless Leader left it sucked.

It did.

But now they're both gone and it sucks even more.

Cause the three of us were pretty tight - dinners, movies, booze cakes, etc.

We were all hired within months of each other and we were around the same age so we were fast friends.

But the difference between Slim and Fearless is that Fearless had a boyfriend the whole time she was at the work branch, however Slim and I went on our fair share of bad dates and then got to vent all about them before we both got together with our respective "he's the one" guys.

So we bonded and vented and vented some more. And while I love all of my coworkers it was nice having someone my age that was going through the same stuff.

Even SuperWoman tracked me down this afternoon and went "both of your buddies are gone."

Yep.

Oh well, still got the New Guy who's my age and BossLady isn't much older.

And we always say, it's not goodbye but really it is.

The end of an era.

An interesting end to an interesting day at the library.

She did really go out with a bang - literally, Queen of the Known Universe  and I got the pleasure of calling the cops over a fist fight on first floor. There was a chunk of hair on the floor when I showed the cop where they fought, it was nasty.

We just heard thumping noises and saw people fleeing the area before we figured out what was going on.

Apparently one of the fighters was mouthing off to one of the cops outside and they had to take him down.

Joy.

What else from today?

You should never go grocery shopping when you're sad. You'll buy far more junk food than you should.

Oh well, see there's a reason I didn't label losing weight as one of my resolutions.

Mostly because I always list it and never do it so I'm thinking if maybe I don't list it and the pressure's off maybe I actually will do it.

Does that make sense at all?

Alright, aiming for earlier than 4 though it is already 2:30 though this time I don't have to wake up until like 5PM tomorrow. The boyfriend and I are taking Bubby, Squirt and Squirt's BF to a hockey game. Should be interesting.

Moving on to the music, more of 2012's greatest hits.

Back In Time - Pitbull

i used to really not like him. his miami's and havana's drove me nuts but he's growing on me. like this one a lot, along with the newest release.

Die Young - Ke$ha

but see with her i've always been a fan.

One That Got Away - Katy Perry

i'm sorry but old katy is creepy.

but anyway, after watching her Part of Me movie totally see her from a completely different perspective. even bigger fan now.

remember when i started falling asleep to storage wars? back in like july? i'm bringing it back. it's entertaining but not entertaining enough to keep me awake.

i go in spurts on who to root for. think jarrod and brandi are my favorite. barry coming in second. dave's alright but i don't remember the name of the other one, darrell? right?

"that's good because his pointy hat is between the good times."

BossLady-ism.

The woman is creative as all get out yet for all her displays I make the signs.

Not that I mind, I like making them.

And we have far too much fun in the process.

She did one on booze since New Years involves a lot of booze.

But you can't name the display "the booze starts here" or "booze it up with books from the library" or really anything with "booze" in the title as that would be inappropriate so we went with "Celebrate good times!" I put it over the top of a picture of a bunch of people celebrating with booze wearing party hats, but there was a lot of strategic maneuvering involved which brought about the title of this post.

I know you are all going to now seek this picture out.

Booze and balloons, living the dream.

It was one of those rollercoaster days.

The morning sucked.

I don't know if it was the weather or what but I was dead to the world.

Tired, depressed, stressed, all that crap.

But then after lunch and some distractions I was fine.

And now the day doesn't seem so bad.

Though that is mostly the fault of BossLady, Oldest Sister and McDermott. I'll get to the latter two in a minute.

It seems BossLady can tell when I'm having an off day cause she'll go out of her way to build my confidence.

Which is a good quality in a boss.

Especially since Slim Shady is ditching me.

I'm still crying inside about the loss of Fearless Leader now it's gonna double.

So we worked on a lot of shifting and scavenger hunt stuff today.

I pulled the notes back out as that is coming up faster than I planned. Basically I'm putting together a big library scavenger hunt for my teens - hiding clues in specific books, they'll have to solve riddles to get to the next one, etc. Anyway, throughout the hunt they'll utilize the microfilm readers, catalog, adult fiction, adult nonfiction and biographies, databases, music library and the special library up on 3rd.

I'd add more but they only have 2 hours to complete it.

Plus answer a bunch of bonus questions along the way which is where BossLady came in cause I was asking her the questions to make sure they weren't too overwhelming for the teens.

It's interesting that you can walk by a piece of artwork every single day and not even realize its existence.

Anyway, all I have left to do is find the final microfilm article, hide the clues and I'm gold. Already talked to our two special librarians who agreed to give the nickel tours to their respective areas so that's done. The rest of the stuff will be on me as I don't want to take away from staff time.

Although maybe my point person will be there to tag along.

Anyway, so there was that and shifting books on cd and sign-making so I was distracted enough to get through the day.

After work did a bunch of laundry, cleaned my kitchen, started unpacking my Xmas presents and ran into the furby.

Yes, my mother bought me a furby.

Somehow majestically just as I was debating on pulling the thing out of the box Oldest Sister called and we had a grand ole time.

She's totally jealous of my furby.

I know it, she's secretly jealous.

I told her she should get one so that McDermott can have a friend and they can play with each other.

Yes, McDermott.

Cause he likes to dance to Terry McDermott's music.

Though that is name number.....I lost count.

And I'm sure he'll be someone else tomorrow.

Originally he was Furby, then it was Fluffy, then it was New Batteries - cause everything listed in the instruction manual that can possibly go wrong with him will be fixed with new batteries.

Problem: McDermott is just standing there, why isn't he talking or moving?

Answer: He needs new batteries.

Problem: McDermott is acting weird, what's wrong?

Answer: He needs new batteries

Problem: Music is playing but McDermott won't dance, why isn't he dancing?

Answer: He can't hear the music. Or he needs new batteries.

Anyway, after New Batteries it was something hillbilly that she suggested like Randall or Ronald or Rolf or something that starts with an R and isn't any of those three options.

Then it was John Boy cause I could say goodnight to John Boy and he would say it back, but he can't be John Boy cause that's the Library Judge so I changed it to something else and after that it was something else and then something else and now it's McDermott.

For now anyway.

Tomorrow I'll get amused by something else and change it again.

See what happens when Carter goes to the farmhouse and the boyfriend works second shift?

I put batteries in a furby and watch it go nuts.

But it speaks in furbish and I can't understand any of it except when it says something about dancing and then it sings and Oldest Sister just kept laughing.

And drinking wine.

We were on the phone for like 2 hours talking about this damn furby.

It would say something or do something and I'd freak out or swear and she'd laugh.

I'm telling you, she's jealous and wants one of her own.

It finally stopped dancing and went to sleep now though I fully expect to be awakened by it in the middle of the night as that's my only furby memory from the 90's.

I was at this kid's house - friend of my parents kid's kid - who had one and a car honked or something at like 3AM and it woke up and wouldn't shut up.

But McDermott danced for like an hour straight so perhaps he will sleep through the night.

And no, there's no off button on the 2012 model.

Apparently there's a learning process from Furbish to English and it develops a personality so if I'm not nice to it it'll be not nice back.

I can only imagine what's gonna happen when Carter comes back home.

I'm gonna come home from work and there's gonna be a ball of purple fur in the corner with some batteries sticking out of it.

On to the music.

I'm sure between myself and the radio you're tired of all that holiday crap so here's some back to normal music to spare you from further pain.

Throwback Thursday

Misunderstanding - Genesis

holy crap he looks young.

yay for the 80's.

Sausalito Summernight - Diesel

underrated and awesome.

and she's off.

legitimate pre-midnight post. holy crap tag in use.
