I could write a blog. I have thoughts.

Happy Birthday Sketch!

Happy birthday to my bestest friend in the whole wide world. 23. Wow. You're old. That means I have 23 days left to be young, any advice?

Sketch and Edit Buy Some Plants – sequel to “Get Some Flowers” (posted back in December if you're interested, scroll back a few pages and you'll find it)

E – “Why are we buying plants? I’m just going to kill them.”
S – “I have to get something to send to my friend. What kind of plant says ‘you’re gorgeous but I hate you for being such an jerk’?”
E – “Ohhh, him. Um, Poison Ivy?”
S – “You can’t buy that.”
E – “Venus Fly Trap.”
S – “Where would I get that?”
E – “Oh, a cactus!!”
S – “Sounds good.”
E – “You still haven’t told me the whole story about how you met.”
S – “What kind of cactus should I get him? I’m thinking one that looks extremely painful. Wearing gloves indoors doesn’t sound very sexy.”
E – “Nice segue there. I don’t know, ask an employee.”
S – “K, go look for a mediocre one.”
E – “Why, you want to ditch ‘Plant Man’ for an actual Plant Man?”
S – “Nope, I’m not looking for anyone. He’ll be just for you.”
E – “Really? Not looking? Things getting serious with ‘Vegetation Boy’ already?”
S – “Vegetation Boy?”
E – “I’m still working on the nickname. Oo, how about this really ugly flower?”
S – “It’s too green.”
E – “Plants are green. Deal with it.”
S – “I’m looking for something pink... unmasculine… or ugly… or painful. I don’t know, I haven’t decided yet… but not that one.”
E – “You’ve been spending too much time with me. You’re getting rambly.”
S – “It’s contagious.”
E – *picks up plant* “What about this one?”
S – “Too pretty.”
E – “I meant for us. It’ll look nice in the living room.”
S – “Since when are you Martha Stewart?”
E – “Hey, green is supposed to represent life and energy and we both need all of that we can get!”
S – “So if we have more green in the house we will have more energy?”
E – “Green is inspirational. It will help us to think more clearly.”
S – “That’s a load of crap. Where did you hear that?”
E – “I read it online.”
S – “Well there ya go.”
E – “Hey, there is a lot of useful stuff online.”
S – “And also a lot of crap.”
E – “Well how am I supposed to differentiate between what’s real and what’s crap?”
S – “Cook your chickens well?”
E – “What?”
S – “Got me.”
E – “Can we get a cactus for our house?”
S – “I don’t think that’s a good idea.”
E – “Why not, they’re hard to kill. I’d have to actually make an effort to kill it… Pour some pop on it… drop a few books…”
S – “Yes, but they’re also painful and you, klutz, are not careful.”
E – “C’mon mom! Please mom can I get a cactus? I promise to water it and feed it and take it on walks and make it watch HGTV so it can see its friends…”
S – “And…”
E – “And?”
S – “And…”
E – *mutters* “And I’ll wear gloves. I can make them look sexy.”
S – “You call me mom again I’ll kick your butt.”
E – “Been there, done that.”

Happy Birthday to my Twisted Sister. Dance it out.

Do the Bookdrop!

Doo-doo-doo-doo-doo doo-doo-doo doo,
Doo-doo-doo-doo-doo doo-doo-doo doo.
It's catchy in the morning when you have to get the bookdrop but gets really annoying around mid-afternoon when it's stuck in your head and everyone thinks you're singing 'the hustle' then laughs when you tell them your lyrics.

Time: 7:55 PM
Location: Couch
Music: Hey Soul Sister - Glee version
Attitude: Conflicted, too many things to post, will have to condense

Yesterday was 9-5, (yes Sarah I did sing Dolly Parton just for you,) then pizza with Grandma (the 25-year-old coworker that calls me 'youngun') and watching some Burn Notice with the Wordsmith.
It was funny because I still don't know where anything in town is so I asked.
"How do you get there?"
"You go out the door. You turn right. Then turn right again. Or get in your car and drive half a block."
Thanks for the sarcastic directions Cabin Fever...And the recommendation Girlscout, the pizza there was excellent! Huge slices.
So we saw the King's Speech which totally deserves all 12 of those Oscar nominations btw, Now we're just debating what movie to see next. Black Swan looks interesting. Superwoman gave it the thumbs up. I like Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis so it's a possibility. Grandma was like, "they say it's a psychological thriller. I want to know what that means in the context of ballerinas." I guess we will have to see.
Burn Notice is getting better and better as I go along. Fiona and Sam are hysterical.

Today was 9-6. This morning was fun. There is like no room in the picture book section so Space Cadet and I went through and shifted. Oh man. Sent 56 books to bindery and there's still no room.
It's sad. At some point today I lost my quote. I carry or carried around a quote from F. Scott Fitzgerald in my back pocket for about a year now, wait, ya more than year. But I lost it somewhere between libraries. So hopefully, now somebody else is being inspired by his words. So, I wrote it out again - different paper, same words. Will it have the same effect? We will see.
Tomorrow means 9-12 then homework. I've read some of the textbook, tomorrow I gotta read a few more chapters and upload my notes. Should be interesting.

Now I'm watching Winter Wipeout. I love Wipeout, it's fantastic. My Grams and I watched it when it first came out and I've stuck with it ever since. Too funny. The commentary is excellent and the contestants, oh man. I love it when they get cocky then get smacked in the face by the big balls. I think this guy is about to cry. I'm saddened that the only girl to make it to the final showdown didn't win. But she did beat that cocky sign language interpreter so it's okay.

BTW - just so you know, thinking that the ground is pretty when it's sparkly doesn't make your immune to falling on it.

Sketch and Edit Watch a Movie

Okay, this one was inspired by a friend of mine in college. She gave a speech about Disney and some of the things she said sort of stuck with me. It seems a little like a rant but it's funny. Which, I guess, most of my rants are kind of funny - ask Sketch - so it goes right along with the rest of them.
I'm posting it now because Space Cadet and I just had a conversation tonight about Disney movies and since I really have nothing else to talk about - other than Mom visiting again and taking me and my sister out to Noodles, awesome - I'm just gonna post this, watch some more Burn Notice and then crash.
Also, people actually read this blog? Note to self: be more witty and charming in the future.

Sketch and Edit Watch a Movie

E – “Disney movies are never as magical once you’re old enough to understand what’s going on.”
S – “What do you mean?”
E – “Well, Snow White lived in the middle of the woods with seven men. What sane women would want to do that? Plus one of them was on drugs. Is that even allowed on the Disney channel?”
S – “Dopey was dumb, not on drugs.”
E – “You don’t know that. Look, he can’t even walk in a straight line.”
S – “Give me another example.”
E – “Okay, Prince Whatever kissed a dead girl.”
S – “Sleeping Beauty was not dead, she was asleep.”
E – “That’s not who I was talking about but that’s gross too. Snow White was dead and Prince What’s-his-name kissed her. But yeah, What’s-his-name kissed Sleeping Beauty after she had been asleep for like hundreds of years.”
S – “Phillip.”
E – “That’s still gross, can you imagine the morning breath? And how was she living after all those years anyway without food or water…or going to the bathroom?! That bed would be disgusting.”
S – “Disney is magic. You’re being too literal.”
E – “Another thing, why are all of the main characters an only child?”
S – “Really? I never noticed that.”
E – “Yeah, Aladdin, Belle, Snow White, Aurora, and the bulk of them have single parents.”
S – “Like who?”
E – “Cinderella, Belle, Ariel… I just don’t get her.”
S – “Ariel?”
E – “Yeah, what’s appealing about someone who has to swim around all day in algae? She’s just shells and big hair - which is another thing.”
S – “What?”
E – “Why do they all look like Barbie? And why do they wear practically nothing?”
S – “Because they all look like Barbie?”
E – “And why are they all in their teens?”
S – “Maybe they feel that the children who are watching the movies won’t identify with older characters.”
E – “Is that why they make all the older people bad guys?”
S – “Who?”
E – “Ursula, Cruella, the Queen, the evil stepmother… You know who my favorite villain was?”
S – “Who?”
E – “Maleficent.”
S – “You just like her because you played her in Briar Rose.”
E – “Because she’s fabulous, with all the black and the purple and she could turn into a dragon.”
S – “Lovely.”
E – “Uber-fabulous, you know who else was fabulous?”
S – “Your mom?”
E – “Cruella De Ville.”
S – “You only like her because she was based on Tallulah Bankhead.”
E – “What’s wrong with that? She was rich and powerful and had hired henchmen. It’s the only way to live.”
S – “She was also terrible and tried to kill a bunch of dogs just for a coat.”
E – “Yeah, dead puppies aren’t much fun. You know who I never really got?”
S – “Who’s that?”
E – “Peter Pan, he’s this weird adolescent boy who flies around in green tights. Plus his best friend is a fairy. What does that say about teen boys?”
S – “You’re being too literal, but you know what else is messed up?”
E – “What’s that?”
S – “The men in Moulin. They’re always running around without their shirts in the snow.”
E – “It shows off their masculinity. That one is your favorite, right?”
S – “Yep.”
E – “I liked the Sword and the Stone, totally underrated and hilarious, but my favorite was Robin Hood.”
S – “Yes because animals of those sorts could coexist without killing each other.”
E – “Now who’s being too literal? But you’re right, what’s with the constant usage of friendly magical creatures?”
S – “I know your least favorite Disney movie.”
E – “Oh really? Try me.”
S – “The Jungle Book…scaredy cat…”
E – “Shutup! That was one time and I was little!”
S – “You ran half a mile barefoot on gravel to get to your grandparents house because the TV was too loud and it was at the scary part.”
E – “I couldn’t find my parents! It was dark! Then grandpa brought me back and they didn’t even realize I was gone!”
S – “What about fairy godfathers? You never see any of those. And all the godmothers are fat.”
E – “Hey I resent that. I’m a godmother.”
S – “Yes but not a fairy.”
E – “Oh, right. Plus they all depend on magic to get their way in life. Not once is God mentioned in any of these movies. And all the girls portrayed are all in need of a hero. They’re all these helpless frail beings who need to be rescued by their princes just to ride off in the fake sunset.”
S – “Doesn’t say much about guys either, half the princes don’t even have lines in these movies.”
E – “Or names, half of them are just called ‘Prince.’ And there’s no punishment for those who’ve done wrong.”
S – “Meaning?”
E – “The beast killed what’s his face-”
S – “Gueston.”
E – “Right, the beast killed Gueston without consequences, and Ursula got hosed by Prince Eric. Aladdin lies for a living and ends up with the princess. The guys in these movies are messed up. The prince in Cinderella – no name - falls in love after one dance, the prince from Snow White – another no name – sees her like twice and then kisses a dead girl – gross – The only real requirement for a guy in these movies is to be tall, dark and handsome. They don’t even have to speak. Talk about a dream role. But all these little kids think these movies are real. So what are we trying to teach them?”
S – “I don’t know but I have a feeling you’re about to tell me.”
E – “Disney shows badly dressed, young, nameless, helpless people who rely on magic and fall in love with random people they find attractive and sing with animals. If you’re already over sixteen you won’t marry a hot, prince or princess and you can’t live happily ever after, instead you’ll turn into this evil ugly hag. I don’t get it.”
S – “Get what?”
E – “Disney is like crack.”
S – “Did you just call Disney ‘crack?’”
E – “These kids get addicted. They go see the movies then have to have all the merchandise that goes along with it.”
S – “It helps stimulate the economy that Bush ran into the ground. So what’s your solution?”
E – “I don’t know. Make the characters older, dress them, give them lines … and names…”
S – “Okay, to you and me this makes sense, but to little kids…these movies bring joy to their lives.”
E – “Have you not paid attention to any part of this discussion? The main character is always a girl with perfect figure or a muscular boy and each and every one of them is royal or ends up royal at the end of the movie. What is a five-year-old girl who’s not in the best shape, going to say after you tell her that her parents are not the king and queen of France and she’s not going to ride off into the fake sunset with a handsome prince in the future? How would that possibly bring joy to a child’s life?”
S – “Ignorance is bliss.”
E – “Ignorance is crap…I miss those days…”
S – “Wanna watch something else?”
E – “Yes, please.”

I'm just not hooked on your phonics.

I've been listening to too much Ke$ha. Everything is coming out in song. It's like the King's Speech all over again. If you can't say it sing it. Curse her simple but catchy melodies.

Anyway...

Time: 10:32 PM
Location: Couch - I'm sensing a pattern
Attitude: Awesome. Cause I'm jamming out to Ke$ha. Which doesn't automatically make a person awesome, but it comes close. Not really. But she's catchy.

Things I've Learned Vicariously Today:
- There's no graceful way to fall off a bike.
- Black ice causes cars to spin and scare the crap out of you.
- Babies are clever when it comes to waking up their parents in the morning.

Things I've Learned From Myself Today:
- I have no follow-thru. While I made soup for lunch - hooray for easy things on the stove - I totally caved and ate microwave lasagne for supper. But I'm tired. Does celery and peanut-butter count if I got them both from the kitchen? It's mixing ingredients, technically. It's an art really! Okay, not really. But such a random combination. deserves some kind of attention and appreciation.
- No matter how many different branches you can call to locate a DVD you still may have to send an email to all the staff at all the branches in a mass email. Nervous much?
- Even though she plays a lawyer I still wait for Kathy Bates to dress in bubblewrap and yell out TOWANDA! just randomly. Maybe she's saving it for a closing argument later in the season. Harriet's Law and Fine Shoes anyone? I love that show. Unfortunately, watching it means I can't watch Castle as they are on at the same time, so I will have to watch Castle tomorrow online. I know it was a big episode so I'm excited.

Aside from watching Castle, tomorrow means split shift and meeting with mom to go over tax stuff. I know nothing about them so I'm glad she's in charge of it all. Plus I get to tell Space Cadet about my cooking adventures. I should have taken pictures she won't believe me.

BTW - Shouldn't it be 'pair' instead of 'pear'? Maybe she has a thing for fruit. It's like 'flavor of the weak' all over again. Although I guess that one makes sense too.
BTWx2 - My cat is going psycho over that thing you pull off a milk carton before you can twist the cap. I have no idea what it's called but he loves it and carries it around the apartment before dropping it and batting it around. Simple pleasures.

If you can't say it, sing it!

Wow. Relaxation. This is new. Slept in, made food like MADE food, very exciting, went to a movie, hit up Target for more groceries, then came home to watch Burn Notice. Totally finished the first season. Love that I don't have to wait a week to see what's next.
So, woke up at 10 to the snowplows in the parking lot. Lots of beeping, lots of dragging noises, blah. Not a good way to wake up but then the thought that I could go back to sleep - even though I didn't - made things better. So, I decided to make food. I was feeling adventurous. Made some eggs on the stove plus bacon plus toast. Then did the same for lunch. Awesomeness. And I didn't even burn the eggs. I was very impressed.
After all this fun was more fun - I met up with some work friends and we hit up The Grand to see The King's Speech. Hilarious. And historic. I'd give it a 8/10 on my Scale of Awesome. But, I was really distracted through half of it because every time I saw a throne or they talked about a throne I just kept hearing Niles' voice in my head.
Niles: I once walked in on the Queen-mother.
Fran: In the shower?
Niles: On the throne.
So I wanted to laugh. But I couldn't. And then that reminded me of my incident in the lab where I was cracking up about that Just Shoot Me line - mentioned in an earlier post - and how I couldn't laugh then either which made things worse. So I got seriously lucky because Colin Firth aka George the VI swore up a storm so I had an excuse to laugh. Too funny.
Anyway, it was fun. Even though it was freezing outside and I was in a sweatshirt. Hey, I had to have something for Grandma to rag on me for. Grandma aka fun coworker who is 25 and calls me a young-un. Yeah, 22, big age difference there. So I call her Grandma. It's amusing. Think she'll cut me some slack when I turn 23?
Plus it gave me something to blog about besides work (who knew) as discussed with my other work friend. Social life in progress.
After all that was Target where I got some more make-in-the-kitchen food aka tonight's soup I had for supper. Very exciting. But don't think I'm gonna be waking up early to make stuff. I enjoy not being a morning person. It works for me.
Now it's Burn Notice, season 2, disc 1. I enjoy all of Michael Weston's accents. It's amusing. It's still a little difficult seeing him as the good guy since in like everything else he plays a jerk. Hmmm... I guess that means I watch too much tv. Maybe I should work on that.
Tomorrow I get to sleep in again, if I don't get called in in the morning, then fun times working the afternoon shift. Awesome.

Aannnd I'm out. I'd give you a music rec but I'm deep in this show. If you haven't seen it I highly recommend it. Saying a 9/10 on the S.O.A.

Right about now, the funk soul brother. Check it out now, the funk soul brother.

Time: 10:50 PM
Location: Couch
Music: "Give a little more" by Maroon 5 - I love this song
Attitude: Amused

Yesterday was work then dinner at sister's and watching Dinner with Schmucks. Not my favorite but it did have a few good lines. "Get them out of a my head!!!" I'd give it a 4/10 on my Scale of Awesome.

Today coworker was gone so I covered and stayed 'til six. I got to work with my boss which was fun. We talked a lot about food and tv. Gotta love Criminal Minds. Well, not anymore, not after that whole creative reasons crap with AJ/JJ. I was gone after that. Didn't even start the new season. Although it is enjoyable that the entire cast hopes that the spinoff (so-called "Criminal Minds Suspect Behavior") will fail. That soooo amuses me. Seriously. They're ticked. That's too funny. And I hope it does. And apparently Forest Whittaker is already out as well. I'm wondering how they're gonna pull it off. Anyway, I hope it fails. There would be much rejoicing.
But today was fun, working with my boss is fun because we have fun discussions about tv but I also got to talk to this woman about James Patterson and the Women's Murder Club series and it was awesome. I can talk about that for hours so bringing it up totally made my day. Until dinner tonight...

Me and my sisters + their husbands went to the Parthenon. It was fantastic. I had goat and all I could hear in my mind was Gibbs saying "Good goat!" (NCIS:Untouchable, Season 3) Aside from the fabulous food we had some interesting conversations. Well, interesting to them, they enjoy torturing me. I just sat there fixing my scarf and drinking heavily. Scarred for life. But the food was good. And I had some sort of cheesecake for desert, it was huge had to bring half of it home with me!

After that it was playing Just Dance on the Wii with my sister and niece and nephew. It was hilarious, the kids were commentating on what we were supposed to do and I was cracking up, I couldn't even dance. "Point! Point! Point! Point! Shovel! Shovel! Shovel! Shovel! M like McDonalds! Now Shimmy! Shimmy!! Shimmy! You're not shimmying!" And my sister yells "Shimmy, damnit, shimmy!" I died on the spot. Hilarious. And she may have beat me at everything else I totally took her down at Rockafeller Skank which is the one she bragged about to me for the past two days. I totally took her down.

Aaannnd a night with family means more fun catch phrases such as these:
- "Lean back your sleeves" Sarah, meaning pull back
- "Lincoln can only afford an old cheney, not a new one." Cindy about street names
- "Does this sunroof open?" Joe about drowning us in snow - It was like blizzarding at this point.
- "I'm not afraid to throw things!" Cindy from the backseat at her husband driving not as carefully as she would have liked.
- "I want to be the cowboy!" I showed Mandy and Joe the Indian 12 Days of Christmas, which is in the Dec 25th post on here if you're interested.
- "I don't know about you, but I heard booga, booga, booga." That was me at Joey.
- "Bend and snap!" "There's no bending! Just snapping!" Mandy commentating Just Dance and my reply. Cause yeah, there was no bending. Just snapping. Legally Blonde reference.
And my personal favorite was from Cindy. She's the oldest so I guess she can be the funniest. I offered everyone a piece of gum at the restaurant (yes I had to google that word again to make sure I didn't look like an idiot) and she didn't take one. Sarah, in the car, said "wow, this gum is enjoyable." and Cindy pipes up and says, "Give me a piece of that gum, you didn't tell me it was gonna be enjoyable!"

Tomorrow is Joey's basketball game then going to a movie with some work friends. Should be fun.

Angry Birds, Angry Birds, What You Gonna Do? What You Gonna Do When They Come For You?

Time: 10:21 PM
Location: Couch
Attitude: Loud Music Necessary
Current Work Score: 113 - down from my high 118 when my timesheet mysteriously vanished

Today's Highlights:
-I killed a pig with a bird. It was very exciting and strange at the same time. Superwoman has this awesome app on her Droid called "Angry Birds" apparently it's really popular. You slingshot angry birds at pigs. They're so angry they crush the pigs under buildings and then explode. It's pretty wicked sweet. I'm just curious as to what the pigs did to piss off the birds so much that you fail if you don't kill them all. Yikes.
- I answered an instant message in Spanish. You can instant message the library with questions. This one was in Spanish. My high school Spanish teacher would be so proud. I actually have used it a lot at the library, I should work more on it so I can be better in the future.
- Went grocery shopping and bought a lot of good food that involves spending time in the kitchen. Yikes but good yikes. I will learn. and hopefully not take down my building in the process.
- Ate supper with sister and watched The A-Team. Hilarious. I forgot how much I like Liam Neeson. And Bradley Cooper was probably the best character, apart from the crazy guy anyway. Hilarious. I'd give it a 8/10 on my Scale of Awesome.

Tomorrow is half-day then cleaning apartment, doing homework, working ahead - because I don't during the week - and getting through some of these DVD seasons. I have multiple out and they're all due next week, except the one I got today Burn Notice season 1! Woohoo! Loving Michael Weston.
The weekend means possible girls night, more cleaning, more homework, more work work, and then a sister's night out for supper. Not in that order. But should be fun.

Music Rec of the Day -
A sister specialty, meaning Maroon 5. Or Scissor Sisters. But this time it's Maroon 5. My second sister burned me their "Hands on Me" CD and I'm loving it. Some of the best are "Last Chance" "Get Back in My Life" "How" "Give a Little More" "Misery". Here's a link to their youtube if you're interested. It's definitely worth checking out. http://www.youtube.com/user/maroon5?blend=1&ob=4
This next one is djearworm. He does these remixes where he takes the greatest hits and their music videos from the entire year and blends them into a mashup. They're awesome. He has one from '08, this one in '09 and then the newest just came out for '10. Then there are some other random mashups he's made. I'm posting this one because even though '08 and '10 are pretty great they can't top this one.

Blame it on the Pop 2009
Here's Viva La Pop 2008 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLaZ-8IMtt0
And Don't Stop the Pop 2010 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LLA7JMPE_xU

gloveless in nebraska

Do you know how uncool it is to be in the middle of a snowstorm with only 1 glove? Totally not cool. I guess I should rephrase, it's so cool it's frostbite material. I'm going to go with "not pleasant". It's totally not pleasant to be walking to work in the snow and realize you lost your other glove somewhere between the place where you're standing like an idiot and the other library where you had it on to do bookdrop. But at least I have a caring enough boss to let me know it's at the other library.
I got to be Team Awesome again with Girlscout today who, when she heard about the glove, said I could have pulled a Napoleon and put one hand inside my jacket (which is what I totally did. Screw looking like an idiot, at least I still have feeling in both hands this way). And, while a member of Team Awesome, all hell broke loose when our computer software we use for like everything suddenly stopped working. The patrons loved us for that, ha! but our virtual tech people are geniuses and they had it up and running again in minutes.
Think I'm gonna watch the latest episode of NCIS online then crash. I just watched the return of Agent Borin, I love Diane Neal but she will forever be Casey Novak to me. It's funny to see her carry a service weapon. And she's a redhead, future love interest for Gibbs? Hmmm...

I got a tiger, I got a tiger, I got a tiger hey! hey! hey! hey!

Don't worry, it's stuffed. And tiny. And cute. And sat on my dashboard today but I felt guilty leaving him in the cold so I brought him in for the night. Carter stared at it for a while then got bored and laid somewhere else. Now he's playing with the strap on my bag. Yes, he's brilliant.
Anyway, it was a present from my coworker since I'm a tiger now. Missouri's mascot. I've been a lion then a knight then a bulldog - really, a bulldog? why? - and now I'm a tiger. Major progress. Or a personality disorder, depending on how you look at it.
woops, forgot.
Time: 9:15
Music: "I can't lie" - Maroon 5
Location: Couch
Attitude: Amused

Today was split shift, shelving in the morning, desk work at night. Mom came between shifts so I didn't get any chores done. Other than paying for class, and sort of cleaning my apartment. Organizing. We'll go with that. Since I had to bring back my cat and all that he entails when I came back from Christmas I didn't want to have to carry all my presents and stuff in too so Mom brought them today. Half of my stuff was kitchen stuff so I put all that away today - it's like spatula overload. I have 6 in all different sizes and colors. What exactly is the purpose of a spatula anyway? It's not like the thing you flip pancakes with it's the thing that you mix batter with. That's a spatula, right? If not I don't know what it's called. But I have 6 of them.
BTW - Do you know how much freaking work it is to carve a grapefruit?! Dude. And how do you know when you're doing it right cause it just ended up a big pile of mess anyway. There's no sophisticated way to eat a grapefruit, no matter how you slice it. Literally. So I covered it in sugar and attacked it with a fork. It was good.

Tonight was fun. Me and Space Cadet totally rocked it. We agreed she's the senior space cadet, I'm only the tag along space cadet. I have to earn my rank. She made me do the closing announcement. Apparently my voice carries. Then she changed it to it's more commanding. Then she changed that to I project well. Which I guess is true. You learn to project well when you're in charge of a kid's camp, especially in the drama department. Which reminds me, I gotta start work on forms for registration soon. Ugh, already. That flew by fast. That means coming up with a theme with the rest of the leaders, finding a bible passage to match said theme, finding graphics, re-writing all of the forms from scratch because of changes from last year, then either writing or finding 8+ skits depending on how many kids I get. Blah. Will have to text partner tomorrow afternoon to see if he knows anything about the theme.

Tomorrow means larger branch, which I haven't been to since Thursday. I have a feeling I forgot to sign my timesheet before it was collected. Which means I lose points. And I like my 118 so that would suck. I'm hoping that by some weird miracle I finished it Thursday and signed it. Like had a psychic moment that I was gonna be sick the next day and not be back until tomorrow. But that's highly doubtful. Right? Especially since I don't remember having a psychic moment. And that's something you would remember. Right?
Tomorrow also means I'm wearing my Firefly shirt just to see how many people get the reference. Yes, it's official, I've turned into one of those too. Add that to the list of geeks I already am.

And I'm out. Gonna write some more Sketch and Edit's and then crash.
Have a good night.

Peanut butter and banana sandwiches for breakfast, lunch and dinner!

Time: 10:13 PM
Location: Couch
Music: "Reflecting Light" - Sam Phillips (one of my favorites, i'll post the link later)
Attitude: Tired

Attitude seemed the appropriate word. So today was fun and relaxing. I slept in, watched How I Met Your Mother - wanted to punch Barney on multiple occasions, he says awesome more than i do btw - wrote some more Sketch and Edit's and hung out with my big fat cat.

So, the benefits of having a sister that grocery shops for you is that she knows you well enough not to dump too much health food on you without giving you some bad-for-you snacks that balance everything out. The thing is, I had to actually like assemble the food, as opposed to my usual stick-it-in-the-microwave-then-eat-it routine. Which meant spending quality time in the kitchen, which led to noticing I have stains on my ceiling from food, which made me wonder how long they've been up there. They certainly didn't come from me. And I had this flashback to this episode of Charmed - yes I am one of those people - to where Piper and Paige are in the kitchen and it goes something like this:
Paige: We are not slobs!
Piper: Oh really? How come I spent all night cleaning potion stains off of the ceiling?
Paige: That's gazpacho not potion.
Piper: You know what, blenders have lids.

Anyway, sibling grocery shopping is awesome because she knows what to get me. But the best thing of all.....string cheese. The wonder of wonders and so mysterious. Peel it apart into strings and it's fantastic, take a big bite out of it whole, it's disgusting. Yes I did put that in bold just because I can.

Mom just called, quote of the day: "I have my car full of your stuff and I'm not putting it back!" She's coming up tomorrow which means Culvers, most likely. Mmm, custard. Yay.

Anybody watch Harry's Law tonight? Also fantastic. And hilarious, I'm loving Kathy
Bates. And I've liked Brittany Snow since John Tucker Must Die - again I am one of those - so it's fun to see her as the ditzy blonde like in Hairspray.

Annnnd with that it's lights out.

Edit Gets Back From a Rock Concert

Okay, so I'll make this short and then add a Sketch and Edit. I'm posting this one in particular because it's how I'm feeling currently. Thankfully I have tomorrow off to sleep in and all that. I went to work and felt fine, until I started working, then I got all light-headed and burning up again. But I toughed it out, it was only 3hours. I keep hearing Coach Otte's voice in my head "It's all mental!" But it's not working. Sorry Coach. When I got home I crashed and burned - a familiar concept lately - and my brother-in-law brought me groceries because I'm spoiled and had no food. But hey, they offered so I took it up. Well, my sister offered anyway, I'm sure he was thrilled to bring them all over here. I love my family. Now I'm laid out on my couch in my awesome blue sun hoodie, yay for firefly, and going to start How I Met Your Mother season one.

Sketch and Edit - Get Back From a Rock Concert

E – “Ow.” *limping*
S – “Hey, how was the concert?”
E – “Ow.”
S – “Whoa, are you okay?”
E – “Ow.”
S – “What happened?”
E – “I tried to crowd surf and the tide went out.”
S – “Seriously?”
E – “The sea just parted.”
S – “You tried to crowd surf?”
E – “Yeah, so? Ow.”
S – “You?”
E – “Sometimes, people do things in crowds that they would never do on their own. We learned all about it in Social Psychology.”
S – “I think you’d need a crowd for this one. I don’t think you can do it alone.”
E – “Yeah, I figured that one out.”
S – “Haha, bright side?”
E – “Oh I dare you. Cheese it woman, I’m in pain.”

Faaaaaaaalllllll on your Kneeeees....... Ohh Heeeeeear the angel Vooooiiices...stuck in my head. Told you they stay on my ipod until July. And then it's pointless to take them off so I just leave them on. I start singing Santababy in August anyway.

The girl with the captivating eyes + sick day + first class = very tired

Okay, so flashback to three days ago. Working at both branches, feeling light-headed, but still staying on my feet. I don't think I've laughed so loud at the desk in a very long time. Long story short - too late - I wear the same jewelry everyday. 8 rings, 3 necklaces, same order, every day. And have worn the same jewelry since like May when I started working there. My favorite patron comes in, we talk everyday, and he says, "I like those rings. Are they new?" Um no. I wear them everyday. He didn't believe me so I had to ask my work friends to confirm. Yes, I do. He like freaked out, it was hysterical. "You wear those every day?!" Then something about usually being very visual so I made a crack about him being the only guy who looks into my eyes. "They must be very captivating." And my coworker, one of my favorites I shall call her "Cabin Fever" because she gets cabin fever and comes to work with us at the desk when she's tired of her office. Anyway, Cabin Fever appears out of nowhere and says, "That's what I tell everyone, you know the girl at _____ with the captivating eyes?"
Then, adding more to the already long story, Cabin Fever and I are talking again later about guys hitting on us and back to the captivating eyes thing so I shouted, "What's repulsive about me?" so that I could exaggerate the repulsiveness and they would leave me alone and my supervisor, who has perfect timing, shows up and says, "Is someone having a bad day?" So Cabin Fever says, "Just tell him you worship snakes. It always works for me." I died. on the spot. and laughed so loud all the patrons looked over. but wouldn't you?
Okay, so after work I came home to crash and burn.
Next day, aka Friday, aka yesterday, I woke up with a headache, a sore throat, nausea, and just a general deadness to me so I had to call in sick. I think whatever wiped everybody out a few weeks ago finally caught up with me. Apparently it can take 20 days for it to develop, Thank you Dr. Oz. Anyway, I tried going back to sleep but of course couldn't because when I wasn't too hot I was freezing, like freezing and I turned the heat way up so then I was burning up and I felt nauseous so I basically laid on the couch all day eating ice cream - it was the only thing that didn't make my throat wanna yell at me - and watching Warehouse 13. Again. Which reminds me I need to renew it. Call me obsessive, but it's funny. And um, cliffhanger! I gotta find season 2, They're on season 3 on tv, season two's gotta be out there somewhere, right? But I was so exhausted I didn't even have the energy to blog. And that's saying something!
Okay, then flashforward to today, wake up, drive to Omaha for class without getting lost - shocker, thanks to my cool aunt - go to bootcamp where I learn how to check email, log on to library resources and all that jazz. Head to the lounge to entertain myself for an hour (writing mostly, hooray for sketch and edit, they always keep me amused) then go to class. Everyone in there is freaking brilliant, but I was the only one who got a hug from the prof. Props to fun times meeting up for coffee, again thanks to my cool aunt and my awesome Superwoman boss. I felt special - not like stop eating the paste kind of special but actually special, that's the 3rd time today I've gotten to use that reference. But anyway, they are all brilliant and I felt like I was only there for comic relief. It was intense. I mean, the assignments look like they won't be too hard, some even look fun, but like the discussions and stuff were super above my head. I felt kind of like an idiot so I kept my mouth shut for most of the class. Even though she kept using me as an example, which was amusing on so many levels mostly because she made me sound super smart, ha! But the people are nice, it was cool getting to meet them, especially other librarians, that was fun. And I love my prof. She's fantastic. As always. And I actually did enjoy it so I look forward to next month's class. Even though it is on my birthday.
So, now I'm back. I didn't get lost - for very long anyway - I ate lunch at 6 - should have brought food but didn't cause was nauseous and light-headed. Maybe that's why people were so over my head. But, tomorrow is only 3 hours of work then Monday we're closed so I should have plenty of time to catch up on my sleep and look at least halfway normal.
In the meantime I've been immensely enjoying Lily Allen's music and Avril's latest single cracks me up. I was singing along with it this morning to help stay awake.
And now I'm out for the night. Finish Nanny season 2 so I can turn it back in and pick up How I Met Your Mother. I've always been curious about how that show began so I requested the first season. Hooray for library holds. Except when you have to do the lists in the morning and there are like 8 paperbacks. We don't organize paperbacks by alphabet, we group them by genre and throw them in a display. Totally not cool when you're a space cadet and are waiting for your caffeine rush to kick in.

Anybody get the paste reference? Hit me with it if you do.

"Trash it and do a happy dance"

Said my coworker after I finished a list. We always feel so accomplished when we finish a list, today it was the weed list. Sent a bunch of books that don't get much use downtown. But it's like pages and pages so when you're done it's like an unwritten rule to do a dance. I raised the roof which is now the official "victory dance" at the smaller branch. It's caught on, the coworkers who used to laugh when I did it have now started doing themselves as well.
Lists are fun though because you get to see a lot of titles you didn't even know existed. There are so many interesting titles that I've come across. Some of my favorites are "Drunk, Divorced and Covered in Cat Hair" "Are you there vodka, it's my Chelsea" "I was told there'd be cake" "You say tomato, I say shutup" - Can you tell it's national breakup month? We have an awesome display. Speaking of displays, I'm in charge of July's display at the other branch. Any ideas? Besides like barbecuing? I guess I could do one on the history of America with the 4th of July stuff. Or fireworks. I love fireworks. Hmm...options.
So, remember how Wednesday was going to be my day for everything school? Yeah, didn't happen. I felt all light-headed at work which meant I crashed and burned when I got home choosing to watch The Nanny seasons 1 and part of 2 instead. Which means tomorrow is now my day. It has to be. I can't put it off til Friday. Saturday is the class. And I don't want to start with procrastination again, I just got away from that in college! Plus, now they're doing this bootcamp thing before the class on Saturday so I get to go at 10:30 even though my class doesn't start until 1:00. But I'm grateful, I guess, cause they're going to show me how to do things that I'll need to know. So it's worth it. I'm still nervous, maybe this will help with the battle.

I think I'm out early. It's only 9:30, I'll be asleep by the time I usually write on here. Geez. But it will be well worth it tomorrow I guess. More work. Then homework.
Have a good night.
