I could write a blog. I have thoughts.

His Name Was GADE - Delayed...Reaction

I should write a song. I've been listening to too much music today. It's all sort of blended together. But writing one wouldn't be too difficult, I mean you tell them who you are, why you're in pain, who caused it, which window you're standing underneath while writing this ballad and then when you get stuck throw out some "hey"s or "oh"s or "yeah"s. How hard can that be? Although, if you're me, your songs usually turn out a bit like this one.

This was at camp back in....crap now I have to count backwards...just camp 2010...we didn't start camp j 2009...war of the cosmos 2008...that puts GADE in 2007.
We wrote this song for our fellow counselor who was having kind of a rough camp experience to cheer her up, and it worked, you can hear her cheer at the end. Anyway, this is the kind of stuff that happens when you have too much time on your hands at camp, well mostly teen camp. There were many encounters between this counselor and a certain camper but the breaking point took place when the camper stole her shoes without asking and the counselor found out about it in an interesting fashion. So we used that as an inspiration and decided to write a song about it.
But we loved writing it so much that we've written one every year since and recorded them. If you go to camp you'll get a lot of the inside jokes (well if you're a counselor anyway) so, since the majority of you haven't, I'm assuming, I'll post the lyrics as well.

His Name Was Gade
By Delayed...Reaction

Yes my favorite part is at the 3:01 mark. There's a reason I only play guitar once a year.

Here's the lyrics in case you missed them.

This is a song about a man named Gade
Who had shoes that were too small

His name was Gade
He had it made
His guitar he played
While he sat in the shade

Gade stole some shoes
That were way way too small
He stole them from
A woman at the mall

That woman freaked
When the shoes were gone
She didn't know what to do
So she wrote down this song

Chorus-
Oh those shoes, they were too small
too small-too small
Oh the pain of it all
of it all-of it all

The train whistle blew
Gade arose from his bed
He could not see
His glasses were not on his head

It was 5AM
He put on those shoes
He went into the bathroom
And started to sing the blues

Chorus-
Oh those shoes, they were too small
too small-too small
Oh the pain of it all
of it all-of it all

There was a party
At a fancy place
So Gade wore his shoes
With a smirk on his face

He got the attention
Of all those fancy guests
Gade always spoke loudly
And he always dressed the best

But just by chance
The old woman was there
She saw her stolen shoes
And gave Gade the glare

Gade saw her too
They came together
She told ol' Gade
That her name was Heather

At dinnertime (cher style)
He called her name
He wanted to know
Why she came

Chorus-
Oh those shoes, they were too small
too small-too small
Oh the pain of it all
of it all-of it all

She ignored Gade's call
So he tried again
He wanted to know
If her shoe size was ten

She said, "Oh No!" (cher style)
"I wear an eight!"
Gade said, "No wonder
These shoes don't fit me so great!"

The guests were appalled
They didn't know what to say
They just sat in shock
At what they saw today

The moral of this here story
When you steal someone's goods
Return them clean
Or those bears will eat you in the woods

Because that's what happened to Gade...

Chorus-
Oh those shoes, they were too small
too small-too small
Oh the pain of it all
of it all-of it all
I said those shoes, they were too small
too small-too small
Oh the pain of it all
of it all-of it all

That's right, that's the story of the ballad of Gade in my words that was given to me by that very woman

Oh Gade,
(Random ranting in Spanish - something about wearing socks...)
