Cause I really don't care where you are, I just wanna be there where you are

I know, I know. It's been like a month in a half. My bad.

Lots of little stuff and some big stuff. I'll attempt to go in order.

1. Mayor's Award
:: So I received the Mayor's Award last month and it was a whole production. A bunch of my family, coworkers and bosses were in attendance. It all took place during a City Council meeting. We went in, the mayor made a speech, two of my bosses made speeches and then I said a bunch of stuff. Was a nervous wreck, but I didn't pass out so I'm calling it a victory. After that we took a TON of pictures with the mayor which was pretty cool. If you want to see the pictures or the video - yes, city council meetings are recorded - it's all on Facebook. I was super nervous but it felt like it was over in a flash. Glad I did have something prepared to say in advance, otherwise I probably would have passed out.

2. Library Life
:: Things at work are good. I've been pretty busy lately with TAB stuff. We did a movie day where we watched HitchHiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Jurassic Park and Sherlock Holmes - the Robert Downey Jr. version. A bunch of teens showed up which is good. We had Jimmy John's sandwiches and basically jammed out the whole day. Was nice. We also went to Barnes and Noble and picked out a bunch of paperbacks for the library to buy which is always fun. Now I'm in like total Summer Reading mode where basically all I do during my off desk time is plan for upcoming events - submitting proposals, ordering supplies, and all that. Is stressful but usually is worth it in the end.

3. Apocalypse Now
:: Not the only stressful thing at work - I had a patron come up to the desk and she was like "there's a leak in your bathroom." I'm thinking she meant a small leak so I went and got the guard and we meandered over there, opened the door and it was freaking Apocalypse Now baby! Water coming out of the ceiling, down the walls, in the light fixtures...I've never seen the guard run so fast. There was a plumber upstairs who burst a pipe and she ran to get him to shut off the water. For a while there were huge chunks missing out of the ceiling but it's all fixed up now.



Still gross.

4. Trivia Night
:: And speaking of running we had Trivia Night and I was the runner again running our answers to the judges before the clock expired. This year our table's theme was Huskers so I wore a jersey and obnoxious Husker hat. Second Sister went all out, turning herself into a corn cob which was highly entertaining. My brother-in-law was Faux Pelini - cat included. This year we actually did pretty well. Finished in about the middle of the pack but got a higher score than anticipated. I was pretty proud cause I got a bunch of the media stuff. Two of the questions were actually about The Voice - who's the host? Carson Daly - and who won in May of 2014? Josh Kaufman. This year's costume winners were Sound of Music people which just happened to contain my RA from back in college. Though our table voted for the Red Green table. Yes, a Red Green table. Please tell me you've seen that show.

Keep your stick on the ice?

Think it was mainstream TV in Canada.

Anyway, I didn't know the people that won the actual trivia contest. We're not really there to win, just to have fun.

5. The Archaeologist 
:: Other fun stuff is I've been jamming more with the archaeologist. The one that also has season tickets for hockey. Think I mentioned something about it last post. Went out for some lunches, talked about hockey and life and all that. She's cool, it's good to have someone with similar interests here close by. Plus now I have someone to high five every time we score.

As often as that happens.

That was sarcasm, we average like 1 goal per game...But if we score goals in two consecutive periods we get free chicken from Canes and for the first time in months it actually happened so we totally went to Canes the other night too. Was fun.

6. Library Goddess
:: She's not the only one I've been having lunch with - I actually met up with the Library Goddess for lunch a few weeks ago. Was nice to catch up. So weird going from seeing her every week to like once every 6 months. We got fancy salads and soups. And I swear that woman knows everyone on earth. Knew the owner and his mother. Anywhere I go with her everyone knows her. You can only imagine what the library conferences were like, everyone was chasing her down giving her hugs. Was hilarious. I love that woman, she was so great to me and really got me through the whole library school thing.

I blame my current job completely on her.

And now....she just happens to retire from that particular part of the program? She totally waited until I was done, I'm telling you. Probably not actually, but I'm sticking with it cause it makes me feel special.

7. Birthday
:: Then of course it was my birthday and food day at work - woohoo! The birthday thing meant multiple celebrations cause no one is ever free at the same time...First was Mexican food with the boyfriend's family. They really didn't have to take me out, it was very nice. I even avoided wearing the sombrero and being pied in the face. Don't ask. After that it was Applebees with my parents and Second Sister's family. Her youngest is adorable and wouldn't let me eat. She always had to be on my lap. Made me feel special. I didn't avoid the singing there - in fact I got sang to twice there. Once by the staff and another time by my family. Then third was the Cool Aunt, Cool Cousin, and the Library Goddess - I know, twice in a month, totally weird. Was cool, we went for sushi and they send me home with all the leftovers.

Sushi is awesome at like 3AM. I don't know if you're aware of that or not, but you should try it cause it's just fabulous.

Then fourth was on my actual birthday at Lazlo's. I met up with some of my siblings. Got my awesome rainbow chicken and fries with honey mustard. It was fabulous. Except that was the boyfriend was missing. He was sick for like a week, it was madness.

8. Valentine's Day
:: And speaking of the boyfriend, look at these beautiful flowers he got me for Valentine's Day.



Such a nice guy. The beer in the background was his. I decided that was the guy equivalent of flowers.

9. Hockey
:: But since he was sick I ended up taking the Queen of the Known Universe to one of the hockey games. She loved it. There were lots of fights and we actually won this time which is new for her. In a shootout no less, to the number one team in the league.



Have I mentioned we're last in the league? Yeah, it's not pretty. But we are only losing two players next year due to age and then we have a crapton of draft picks that we traded for.

Yeah, they basically traded a bunch of our good ones once we got out of playoff contention so that we could have draft picks for next year. Which sucks for this season, but probably is smart for next season.

Anyway, it was an excellent game but my favorite player got majorly injured. Or my "infatuation" as the boyfriend likes to call him. It's not like I think he's cute or something I just think he's a really good yet underrated player. Plus he's a teenager so that would be gross. But he got smashed into the wall and got a concussion. So, poor guy. Hopefully he'll be okay to play again soon.

I still haven't emailed them about my sign.

So, I made a sign that says "I wish I only got 2 minutes for hooking"

But I'm hesitant to take it to the games because they're super picky about what stuff they let people bring in. Like horns and bells and all that.

And I don't want to get like a black mark on my record or something, so I was gonna email them. But I'm pretty sure they'll be like...um, no. So I'm putting it off. Maybe I'll just hang it on my wall. I still have to hang up that signed flag and posters anyway. I'll just make the whole wall behind my couch a hockey collage of sorts. No one will see it anyway, except the boyfriend. My sister. Mother. Eh, whatever. Guess I know what I'm doing tonight.


10. Second Sister got a new puppy.
::I'm sorry I have no transition from hockey to dogs.

But she got a new puppy and it's adorable.

The first time I saw him he sat on my lap for like an hour. Super cute. Then the next time he was climbing all over my back.





I want one, but Carter would not go for that. Or my apartment complex. Maybe later on.

11. Oh, yeah, the Voice is back. 
:: I know, you're so excited to hear that. Cause I don't ramble about it at all....For the first season ever I'm having trouble picking out 20 people that I actually like. Maybe I'm growing out of the show or something, but the artists this year are really not all that impressive. I have about 10 that I think are pretty good but that's it. Maybe I'll just do a top ten instead. I guess we do have 1 more night of Blind Auditions left. Tonight. Maybe they're saving the best for last. Let's hope so. I'll post my top whatever list after tonight's episode.

Scale of Awesome says 4/10. I know everyone loved it but I did not. The ending just confused me and I'm still frustrated about it. Is he magic or is he insane? I thought it was one way but then the end confused me.

Scale of Awesome says 6/10. Was okay. Better than Birdman but nothing special.

Scale of Awesome says 5/10. Another out of the box type, I loved the kid in this, he is crazy talented and of course there is JK Simmons who I loved from the Closer but it wasn't all that great either.

Scale of Awesome says 7/10. See, the preview makes this look like a comedy but there's a lot more serious to it. I actually liked this one a lot.

Grand Budapest Hotel


Scale of Awesome says 7/10. This movie was hilarious. Total Wes Anderson style the whole way through. Loved it.

TMNT


Scale of Awesome says 3/10. This movie was god-awful. Totally killed the whole thing. Makes me want to watch the original again just to fix it all.

Scale of Awesome says 9/10. Best movie I've seen in a long time. Super long but you didn't even notice because it was that good.

Trivia Night 2012 - Hey, I got flax!
Trivia Night 2013 - Public Transportation is Sexy

So tonight was trivia night and we dominated.

Sort of.

Okay, not really.

Last year we went as That 70's Show.



This year we went as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.


Yes, that is the King of Useless Knowledge as Snow White.

The only problem...we weren't the only ones.



King of Useless Knowledge: "I hate it when I show up to a party and someone else is wearing the same dress."

I liked our costumes better, but theirs were good too. He did have boobs, brother-in-law said he was feeling a bit inadequate when it came to that.

Around the middle of the night they do this thing for a Spirit Award where they have the tables that are dressed up do a cheer thing. Since they did the Heigh Ho song and danced in a circle we each lifted up our adult beverage and just yelled out Heigh Ho! Got more applause.

We didn't win, but we weren't really aiming for that. Actually that went to a table dressed up as nuns and priests who sang the refrain of:



Yes, we voted for them. Though our second choice was the table with the guy dressed up as the Oldest Man from Carol Burnett. It was fantastic.

Next year's is still up for debate. Some options are: washed up child celebrities or famous couples where we dress up as the opposite gender.

Anyway, I think we ended up with like 73 out of 100 which is better than last year's score - barely - but the questions this year were just weird.

The categories were:
1. And the winner is... - I'm proud to say I dominated in this one cause it was all about award shows and you know how I feel about award shows
2. Westward Ho! - was all about geography, we did okay...
3. Follow the Leader - was about important people in history
4. Prophets, Priests and Kings - what's funny is that it's the same thing every year, the paper gets handed to me and Oldest Sister. we got hosed on this one though to be fair the questions were things pastors would get right but not your average patron.
5. The Good Life - was Nebraska trivia
6. Grocery Day - was like brand trivia which was ironic because I had just talked to the professor that made us read Branded in college and she was saying how much everyone hated that book. don't read it, it'll make you over-analyze any bit of product placement possible.
7. Behold the Wonder - was about landmarks
8. Horseplay - was about horses. and we were like, okay?
9. ...and Sons - was about famous father and sons
10. Anything Else - was a miscellaneous one that ranged from the Three Stooges to more history stuff

So we had fun, but the questions could have been better. It's like my brother said, we had the right answers, they just weren't asking the questions to match them.

Usually just the slow enclosed one, but today the library was so dead that I was like, whatever. Big glass window, a-woohoo! I was jamming.

There was really no one there to notice. It snowed all day so our only crowd was in the computer lab.

Have you ever been driving on a snow covered road and went, "well, I think this is a lane"?

And then pulled into your parking lot parking basically anywhere because you can't see those lines either?

That was today since 8AM.

A lot of snow.

Which is normal for a Nebraska winter, but not this winter. It's like the third time it's snowed total.

It's all fine and dandy 'til I have to wake up tomorrow and dig myself out.

I used to like snow. You know? I could make forts, and snowmen, and slide across the ice.

Now I'm surrounded by idiot drivers on roads that don't get plowed so I hate it.

There were supposedly 70 plows out today but I didn't see a single one.

Not looking forward to driving to work tomorrow either.

Season Three.



Stoked cause a new company is re-releasing them on DVD which means they might actually get further than season three.

I've been stuck here since the early 2000's.

I loved this show. It was fantastic. That was like the best night of TV cause it went Friends then Will and Grace and then Just Shoot Me. That's how I found it in the first place, cause I was hooked on Friends.

Although so was the rest of America.

There used to be all the Must See TV. Now they're trying to replicate it and they've got nothing.

The only comedy shows I watch on a regular basis are Big Bang Theory, 2 Broke Girls, Mom, Saturday Night Live and Hollywood Game Night.

And Castle. Does that count as comedy? It's kind of comedy.

The rest are just dumb.

Some of those are dumb too, I know, but I like them.

I know, you don't care.

I'm trying to think of things you might care about.

Um.

So there's a lot of snow.

And um, I've been working a lot.

Mostly on my booktalk and this Strategic Plan powerpoint thing.

Although the Old New Guy reminded me today that I'm assigned to yet another project that we had forgot about.

The joys of having your degree.

People think you're fluent in everything libraries.

Oh well, at least I'm involved and not bored.

Gonna have to brush up on all my useless knowledge.

Thankfully there are 8 of us and we all kind of have our expertise. But that means anytime there's a book question they look at me so I should probably go over stuff I should know but don't know.

Okay so first off, just gonna throw this out there.

Never leave two little boys alone in a room with a remote and a TV they don't know how to navigate.

They will attempt to buy things that make my brother and I go "oh my god!" and run toward the TV.

We had football on in both rooms and I guess they wanted to watch wrestling instead so they attempted to change the channel and ended up at "Are you sure you want to purchase Boobalicious for $10.95?"

I don't think I've seen my brother move that fast in a long time.

So that pretty much sums up my day: Mass Hysteria.

Set my alarm for 9 but slept in until 10:30.

I was gonna be all good and like get up early and watch the parade and all that but by the time my alarm went off - I went to bed around 2 cause of New Years - I was like screw that so I went back to sleep.

But I did get up in time to watch the Husker game.

And HOLY CRAP that was also madness. Domination, I was so proud, especially that last quarter for defense. Though the endzone to endzone touchdown was pretty cool too.



Actually our favorite part of that touchdown was the guy in the raincoat at the very end.

Yeah. Stare dumbly. That's right.

Anyway, the family - boyfriend included - showed up around halftime. We watched a bit more of the game, ate lunch, and then opened our presents (while having the game on in the background).

I officially passed the passing out baton on to Squirt this year so I got to sit sidelines and get presents instead of handing them out.

Glad to be done.

It's not bad it's just you have 6 kids running at you constantly looking for presents or wanting to take presents to people and there's a system, you have to have piles so that everyone gets one at the same time instead of like 5 for one person and then on to other people, you know?

Anyway, she did good and I enjoyed sitting and being able to watch the game.

Especially cause we were winning.

Got some cool stuff too. Red 2, Burn Notice final season, some books, clothes, cash, a robot vacuum, AND THAT DAMN DANCING BABY.

I know!! I just got rid of that thing, she totally fooled me.

Now I have it for another year!

And it came in the best box too, it was one of those prank boxes that advertises it as something totally weird and then you open it and it's something totally different. Anyway, this box was for a coffee showerhead so that you could take a shower and drink coffee at the same time.

BTW you did read that right, a robot vacuum.

I'm stoked, just have to figure out how to work it. Carter's gonna hate it. Will probably squash it while I'm not around.

After the presents we jammed out for a while watching football, playing pitch and spoons, stole remotes back from tiny children, ate prime rib for supper and all that.

It was fun.

Especially the part when my brother started freaking out about the boyfriend and I getting married in Vegas.

Which was my fault, cause we were joking about it and then he got all paranoid.

See, when they're all in Vegas and we say we want to get married they're all for it. But now that they wouldn't be there with us it's totally different.

And his mother did finally give in to our destination wedding ideas.

Which I want in writing.

Not that we're having one.

But it's nice to have the option.

What else did we joke about? Oh trivia night is coming up.

We're thinking this year's theme should be Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs.

With my brother-in-law as Snow White - cause he's tall - and the rest of us as the dwarfs.

It's down to that or Ninja Turtles.

Cause wouldn't that be awesome too?

Today was awesome though.

Carrying everything up the stairs to my apartment was not so fun, but it's done now so it's worth it.

Well, the stuff I brought back with me that is. There's still that giant coffee maker at the farmhouse from Christmas along with some various other things that hopefully Mom will bring up at some point when she comes to visit Grams.

So I'm calling today a success, even though it was filled with much hysteria I am not back to relaxing with my big fat cat.

Speaking of New Years, did you do anything fun? The boyfriend and I went out to dinner then had a lazy night in watching movies and then musicians we'd never heard of but are apparently popular enough to make national TV.

But I don't listen to the radio so perhaps they are that popular.

Any new resolutions?

Mine for this year are to eat healthier, exercise more and start flossing more than just the month before I go to see the dentist.

I know, boring, but maybe as the year goes on I'll add more.

Public Transportation is Sexy.

That's really all I had from yesterday and it was Vegas rules anyway so I couldn't explain it.

Plus I was up 'til 3AM doing homework and then had to wake up at 8 to go to work all day so I did not get around to posting.

We took a tour of a law library that took way longer than I thought. But I learned a lot and it was interesting. And at least I finished the homework so I'm good for a few days at least.

Today was fun. Got to work at the home branch with Space Cadet so things were a little more relaxed. Except that the bookdrop was frozen shut so the maintenance dudes had to come over with a blowtorch.

So that was fun.

Anyway, after work was Trivia Night - the fundraiser for my nephew's school. We went as the cast from That 70's Show - I'm sure pictures will make Facebook. I was Donna, had my red hair and 70's shirt, the boyfriend was Foreman - appropriately enough.

Now I have the urge to watch the series. I have the majority of it - leaving out of course the last season after Topher ditches. Does he at least come back for the finale?

It was fun, 10 categories with 10 questions each plus the additional Dead or Alive and Heads of Tails between rounds. I got some random ones - you would have been proud. Jackson Pollock, Scott Joplin, Albany, The Hunger Games.

Yes, I'm aware those are random answers, but they were the ones I contributed as the majority of the questions were answered by the boyfriend, the brother and the brothers-in-law. Though this year they had an entire category dedicated to quilting - yes, quilting - and Oldest and Second Sisters took over that one. Even Favorite Sister-In-Law dominated this year. Setting the standard for next year pretty high.

There were some weird categories, I mean the usual ones of religion and around the town but then the first category was all about dogs, which we got like 8/10 so that was awesome but then that quilting thing was way weird. Glad the sisters knew what they were talking about.

Interestingly enough, last year we got hosed on the Around the Town thing because they hadn't lived there very long, and yes I went to college there but I didn't pay attention to what building an image of an anvil was on or how many clocks were in the courtyard. This year's was very very specific - and weird. Like what road is this fence on? who lives in this house? - it was the University's president WHICH I GOT RIGHT! so take that.

And I didn't even know it was his house. I just guessed cause it had to be some sort of celebrity so people would know it.

Take that!

Anyway, I think our final score was like 71 or 72. Not great but not last - actually we tied for 12th out of 30 teams so it wasn't that bad.

For as specialized as the categories were at least.

We're debating themes for next year. Possibly something 80's, maybe favorite 80's movie character - in which case I'm not sure who I'd choose. Have to do some research on that one. Some of the Star Wars movies came out in the 80's and I am a Carrie Fisher fan. Though I would avoid the bikini scene. That would just be awkward.

Oh, speaking of, so I love it (that was sarcasm) when people come up to me and say, "hey you look great, did you lose some weight?"

Cause I never know what to say.

I wasn't aware I needed to lose any and it's not like I'm trying to.

I mean I don't really eat but that's because of time constraints, not dieting.

Unless time constraints is a form of dieting.

In which case I would be on a diet.

But what do you say to that really?

Big day today. Slept in 'til about 11:30, which is huge at the farmhouse. Though I was up 'til like 3 so it wasn't a lot of sleep.

Got my hair chopped and dyed - this time by the new girl. She did pretty good for her first time with me. I'm liking it and now I've got my red so I can pull off the Donna look for the trivia night on Friday - though I'll have to find some good 70's clothes at some point this week. Otherwise I'll just end up with a nametag that says "Hello my name is Donna" which is effective but not festive.

After the hair thing was the notary thing, there's a big deal in the works which you'll hear much more about later but my brother and I got to sign lots and lots of stuff in front of a notary chick who, after I first signed my name looked at me and said "you've grown up!"

One of those times when you want to go, "thanks. who are you again?"

But see it's a small town and everyone knows my parents so I'm sure I've met them at some point in life.

Anyway, so I know that my signature is awful and illegible but my brother's is worse. But then he started making fun of mine so we left it up to the notary chick who couldn't choose which was worse.

Which is sad cause really, his is bad. So if mine is just as bad maybe I should work on that.

But there's a difference between signing something and then signing something when people are watching you sign it.

I don't know about you but I start to overanalyze my signature and like tried to write it slower, especially since apparently it's just as bad as my brother's, but even with more effort you still couldn't read it.

After the signing thing I packed up my stuff and met up with the boyfriend. We saw Silver Linings Playbook which I've wanted to see ever since I learned it had J-Law in it and then after the Emmy's and all of the Oscar nods you knew it had to be worth it.



I liked it, I'm giving it an 8/10 on the scale of awesome, however I'm pretty sure the boyfriend was not as into it as me.

But I think he liked Les Miserables last week and I didn't so while our taste in movies is usually similar - apparently we own all the same ones - it can differ at times.

Basically what the trailer left out is the fact that Cooper's character is dead set on getting back together with his wife and also that his father - played by Deniro - has a serious case of OCD. Or is just really superstitious.

And then Lawrence's character has mental issues, along with Cooper's best friend as he's being driven crazy by his wife. Speaking of his wife, brought back 2 of my favorite celebrities that I haven't seen in about 5 years - Julia Stiles and Chris Tucker.

Wasn't expecting them, although the only clip I'd seen before we went included her rant about the Eagles winning every time they were together

After the movie we watched part of Almost Famous - which I had also not seen. It was weird seeing Kate Hudson so young, though it was made 13 years ago. And since it was that long ago some of the actors have turned out to have big careers and there were multiple times of "i know her, what else was she in?" I'm just exhausted.

All day acting peppy and cheerful and excited about life cause when you're training new employees you have to be all peppy and cheerful and excited about life. Cause who wants to train under someone who's mean and depressed and tired all the time?

And that's basically all I did all day was train people. Cause we have three new ones in the system - and it's not like it's a pain, I like them, they're cool. It just takes it out of you. And I'm always freaking out that I'm going to teach them the wrong thing or whatever.

But it's always fun when you're training with other fun people.

After work was dinner with the sisters. Got my usual rainbow chicken and fries, half of which is in the fridge ready to be eaten at around 2AM.

If I make it that long, I'm barely hanging on for this post and it's only 11:30.

Dinner was fun and our annual trivia night - mentioned here "Hey, I got flax." - has been officially scheduled for the first Friday of February. Totally stoked. We talked about our costumes a bit, every team is supposed to have a theme. We picked That 70's Show for ours - go here: "That's not it either." I'm Donna cause I got the red, which makes the boyfriend Forman. Oldest Sister is Kitty cause she can do the laugh, her husband aka the King of Useless Information is Kelso, my brother is Red all the way, Favorite Sister-In-Law will be Jackie, Second Sister will be Hyde - she's stoked to buy a wig - brother-in-law will be Fez which I think will be hysterical.

Anyway, originally that was going to be the weekend for the annual Sketch and Edit's Excellent Adventure so we will probably end up pushing it back. But it was also the weekend of my niece's first birthday party and I felt guilty for skipping. This will be good though cause it gives us actual time to plan since that's coming up really fast. Last year when we went I got sick so we didn't do much but this year we actually semi-know the area and we can come up with a game plan about some stuff to visit and places to eat at and all that so it will be better.

Should stop by their library.

Yes they have one.

We drove by. We actually did just randomly drive all over town. It took like 20 minutes to cover the whole town.

Boondocks baby, yeah.

Oldest Sister screams as my brother drives away. He claimed that tonight proved who was smartest.

Oh my god.

Trivia night was awesome!

We walked in and people were decked out in costumes, apparently some sort of theme competition, we threw out some possibles for next year mostly retro TV related.

The team that one called themselves "Cheeses of Nazareth" you know, as opposed Jesus of Nazareth. They were all in yellow with cheese hats and certain types of cheese written on their backs. One of them was "Shredded" and her shirt was all cut up.

We voted for the "Almost Heroes" team, which included a guy wearing an ironing board on his back for Iron Man, one dressed as Batman who turned out to be an old friend of my brother's, and an old guy dress entirely in green carrying around a lantern for Green Lantern.

The night itself went smoothly, flew by pretty quickly even though it was like 3 hours, or longer.

There were 28 tables, and we didn't get last.

But we weren't aiming to win, just to have fun.

We ended with a 63, which is actually pretty impressive because those questions were about the most obscure group of information, seriously. It was our first year, we'll do better next year. Technically we were a man down compared to the other teams, next year with the Trivia King we'll dominate.

Okay, so there were ten rounds with ten questions each. We had ten sheets of paper with lines on them, we wrote in our answer them took them to the front for the judges to keep count and put the totals on the projector.

Between rounds you were encouraged to drink at the cash bar - btw it was at the fairgrounds and not my nephew's school total bummer cause that would have been funnier - vote in the silent auction or pay to play "Dead or Alive" or "Heads or Tails". This gave the judges time to go over the answers and come up with a talley.

Here were the categories:

State of the Union
-Okay, who knows which bird is the most common State Bird in the United States? Seriously?

Syndication Nation
-We rocked this category. I think we got 9 out of 10. AND! Remember how I said in Friends Trivia we would dominate? Yeah, "Which Friends character is played by actress Lisa Kudrow?" was amongst the questions. We kind of wanted to put down Regina Falange, but refrained.
Also, remember how I had the Gilligan's Island theme song stuck in my head for like an entire day? It paid off, one of the questions was "what was the name of the ship from Gilligan's Island?" "if not for the courage of the fearless crew the Minnow would be lost, the Minnow would be lost." Rocked it.

Logo Land
-This one was cool, they put pictures up on the screen - well all the questions were put on the screen as they were asked but this was an actual image - of logos that represent certain companies or websites or cars or whatever. I think we missed like 2out of that one.

Fabric of Society
-"I got flax!" Oldest Sister was pretty proud of that answer, and seriously, as the officially knitter in our family she owned this one. Along with Second Sister and Favorite Sister-In-Law. I'm not so much for fabric, as you could probably tell as today I was dragged clothes shopping.

Acting Uncivil
-Favorite Sister-In-Law told my brother that this was his category. I don't think we did so well with this one.

Red Heads
-Yeah. Not what you think. As we are Nebraskans, it was all Husker related. Which was basically all my big brother. And me. I got the volleyball question, he was all over the football and the baseball and all that. Wrestling? Did anyone get that one right?

Faithful and True
-It was sponsored by a Lutheran grade school so you knew they'd have to throw in some bible trivia. I am proud to say that I dominated this category. Correcting Oldest Sister and the boyfriend. Which patriarch had his name changed to Israel? Abram changed to Abraham but it was JACOB that was changed to Israel after he wrestled with God. I told Sister-In-Law to change the answer as she was our scribe. They were like, "if it was Abraham..." yeah they announced it as Jacob and I rocked it.

Our Hometown
-Second Sister lives there now but yeah, I think we got like 4 out of 10 on this one. It wasn't pretty. I lived in this town for four years and I still couldn't answer a single question. Aside from bank clocks, have many clock faces can you see from the Town Square? What graphic is posted on this building? The boyfriend and I teamed up for the library question, I was proud.

The Year That Was
-These were all questions about events that happened last year, we did okay.

Grab Bag
-Was the definition of random trivia. It was like, okay these questions don't really fit into any category so we'll group them together and call it a grab bag. Makes sense.


So we all had our own specialized areas.

Oldest Sister dominated the fabric one. She was also good at the bible stuff and threw out some syndication stuff. Retro sitcoms mostly.

Second Sister was proud of her answers when she answered, though one of them was actually mine. It was about a bookstore that closed it's doors, she looks at me and says "It wasn't Barnes and Noble what's the name of the other one?" "Borders." "Woohoo!" She brought the majority of the food - cause you brought your own as they just provided drinks.

My Brother-in-Law did well with geography and also the hometown category. It was interesting because I lived there for four years and he's noticed a lot more stuff for just being there three. Granted he's more visual and observant than me, plus college was not exactly a highlight of my existence.

Favorite Sister-in-Law and I teamed up for a lot of the syndication stuff. She was also our scribe.

Older Brother rocked the sports stuff and he was good with geography and history as well.

As for me, I had book and bible-related stuff, plus some random sports and I was all over the syndication stuff. I was also what they loving referred to as "The runner" where I would grab our answers and run them up to the judges table. They picked me because I got new jeans and they apparently wanted to look at my butt. I told the boyfriend he wasn't allowed to stare at my ass in front of my siblings.

Then The Boyfriend had everything else.

Literally.

They called him "Answer Boy". When he got up from the table they were scared he wouldn't be back in time for the next round.

I was super proud and very impressed. Geography, TV, car logos, husker stuff, bible stuff, Seward stuff, and history he did really well. We said that him and the Trivia King would dominate.

I was also told that if for some reason we were to break up he was still coming next year.

It was funny cause when we were introduced to Second Sister's friends he was named as my "special friend", yeah he's special alright. Joking.

And he did really well while being thrown to the vipers. Second Sister asked for his intentions right away, we told him about my ex sending her a two page letter. He joked and said he's send her a three page one, or a video.

Cause that was one of my resolutions, avoid procrastination if at all possible.

Which it usually is.

But where's the fun in that?

Today was interesting.

Remember the crazy obnoxious stalker dude from yesterday?

Yeah, ran into him again today. at lunch. shaking everybody's hand in the place. I freaked. But the employee kicked him out before he could make it to our table.

That would have been really bad.

We have another new guy at the library. First day today, I got to train him on the desk. He picked it up pretty quickly, although with the new system there's a lot of stuff to pick up all at once.

I'll have to come up with a nickname for him cause I already have The New Guy. Though he's not so new anymore. But he's newer than me. So that makes him still new.

And the New New Guy would just sound redundant. I'll work on that.

Sleeping in, awesomeness, but then of course Oldest Sister is dragging me clothes shopping cause apparently I need new jeans.

They don't like it when I drag my feet and it tears the bottoms to shreds.

But then after that is some sort of trivia night at my nephew's school. I really REALLY enjoy that there's going to be a cashbar... at his school. That really just makes me laugh.

We might need it.

The Boyfriend is braving the wild and joining our team. As in me and my siblings.

Not that any of them are bad, they're just protective and sarcastic.

For instance, Second Sister - on her wedding day, at her reception, during the dollar dance - asked my boyfriend of the time what his intentions were. And that was at her wedding. Granted he was goofy right back and wrote her a two page letter.

For serious.

I'm sensing a theme for her meeting my boyfriends. Cause then she was getting married.

Now she's pregnant.

And with either of these times she's allowed to be crazy, cause it's either Her Day or Hormones as excuses to blame it on.

No, I'm not worried.

They're protective but when it's all of us together we're just goofy. It can get pretty hysterical. I have a lot of one-liners to prove that. Set for life in that aspect.

Though I am bummed cause my oldest brother-in-law won't be able to make it, and he's like the trivia king. With him we would dominate.

But we're not aiming to dominate, just to have fun and drink lots.

Gotta support the school, you know?
