And yes I have the tablet now to keep my sanity but the laptop is still my lifeline.

Well, there was Christmas with his family and a little with mine.

But I think I covered that already.

Then there was work.

I got to be at the home branch twice this week already.

Tomorrow we're off early for the holiday.

Well, 4 isn't really early, but it's something so I'm going with it.

I rambled about that already right?

I think that's where I left off, with my apartment in shambles.

But now the furniture is back where it belongs, the apartment is clean, my computer is fixed, the nervous twitch in my stomach is gone - huzzah for that - so I'm going to bed.

I know, I'm boring, I'm sorry. I'll be more exciting next post cause it's New Years!!

We still have no plans.

For New Years Eve that is, New Years Day is our family Christmas.

Plus the Husker game at 11.

A lot of people aren't excited cause it's a rematch against Georgia and we're gonna lose.

But maybe I'm wrong. Maybe we'll pull it off in some sort of Holiday Miracle.

Let's go with that.

We always text.

Or talk in person.

So when I saw his name on the caller ID this morning I knew it was bad.

His work has once again screwed him over and he's having a personal crisis.

So, any grand plans about finishing my homework tonight flew out the window and I went out there instead to come up with a game plan.

Depending on how work goes next week we think we have a vague plan for the next few years.

Basically, our lives will be hell for nine months.

So kind of like pregnancy but without the screaming child popping out at the end.

I'm not thrilled but neither is he.

But, you know what, it's not like I'm going anywhere and he's worth waiting for.

So, I'll stick it out and we'll take it day by day.

Or quarter by quarter as it is about the combination of work and school.

Definitely not going back for a Doctorate now.

Not that I wanted to anyway, but now I have a legitimate excuse.

Gonna have to talk to Superwoman about scheduling.

Joy.

As awful as the reason was behind it tonight was actually kind of nice.

Switched it up.

Started by choosing a restaurant on the right side of the road - we always go left cause there's more - then drove out to the lake where we sat for hours just talking about everything and enjoying the scenery.



After which we went back and helped his parents move their new couch.

If someone had a camera it would have made YouTube, seriously.

Then we went back out driving around, parked and just walked for blocks.

It was good though because we actually talked about stuff instead of our usual dinner and a movie routine.

We'll figure it out as we go along I guess.

Alright, in need of some serious sleep. More work tomorrow.

Went out to see the boyfriend tonight and we went to my TRUE MOTHERSHIP.

aka the Dormmom's fireworks stand.

Got the essentials, but still haven't done inventory on last year's stuff so I have a feeling I'm going to be flailing back closer to the date.

The boyfriend was impressed that I spent like half the amount of money I spent last year. But I do have the Missouri stuff too. Though I didn't get much there, just stuff I couldn't get here.

Thinking about doing fireworks at the farmhouse like last year. Parade in the morning and all that.

Sister and her family won't be there - which sucks - but that's okay. We'll have enough to cover.

Hopefully the boyfriend will be able to make an appearance as he will be working.

Woke up to yet another family banter session by text message.

Mom is on vacation and is sending us all these pictures of her and her friends.

Oldest Sister says that must mean that what happens in Branson doesn't stay in Branson.

To which Mom claimed she was only sharing them with us, though my brother said he forwarded all the drinking pictures to Grams.

She would love those.

Actually she probably would.

Oldest Sister tried to play the favorite. She says she has to be nice since she can't pop out a kid on Mom's birthday (like my brother's wife did) or provide her with prescription meds in her old age (like Second Sister can).

Second Sister is proud that her greatest attribute is providing prescription meds, but claims she can't pop out a kid so we shouldn't bet the farm on that.

I don't know where that leaves me.

My 17 years of private school left me with no sex education classes, but I'm pretty sure you can't just pop one out at will.

Yeah, we Lutherans don't believe in that kind of education.

The only thing that came close was a really awkward conversation with a dorm mom and my freshman roommate who danced with a box on her head to cheer me up.

In other news, I went to see She & Him tonight with an old library friend.

She won tickets over the radio.

We had planned to go but they were sold out by the time we got around to it.

So it was fate she called in when she did.



It was awesome!

If you weren't aware of my obsession they are in my top five favorite bands of all time.

The other four being Maroon 5, The Wreckers, Eminem and Lily Allen.

Superwoman let me off early so I could make it in time.

Tilly and The Wall opened for them.

We were a bit confused because if you see the girl in the middle in the gray dress and pink tights, she was just up there dancing and singing without a mic.

And we were like, does she get paid to be up there and dance in the middle of their show?

I want that job.

Do you think she's "Tilly" or "The Wall"?

Then we realized that she was actually tap dancing and the box she was tap dancing on was mic'd and she was basically their percussion section.

Which was awesome.

And very creative.

And they're from Omaha, and went on tour with She & Him.

Which is awesome.

Speaking of Omaha, so both bands - them and She & Him - kept yelling out "Omaha!"

...even though we were in Council Bluffs.

So, technically, Iowa.

Which was amusing.

Apparently they had the day off yesterday and spent it in Omaha.

My library friend watched their backup band play in a bar.

Jealous.

I wonder what it's like for celebrities to have the day off.

Like, what would you do while on tour?

Sightsee in Omaha?

So like psuedo-Rosenblatt and....

Oh, maybe they went to the zoo.

That's kind of a big thing.

The drained out Platte River.

That's all I got.

They were awesome live though.

Can't believe we were that close to them onstage, it was so cool.

They did a mix of their songs from volumes 1-3.

Plus an acapella cover of Unchained Melody.

Which was incredible.

Her backup singers were pretty great in themselves.

And you can tell the songs that they really liked because they would jump and dance and clap and hula, it was amusing.

Zooey herself was awesome.

M. didn't say much, which isn't unusual.

And their whole band was just great.

As was their opening act, I'm gonna have to buy Heavy Mood, that was awesome.

So if you thought that yesterday's post was awkward and ended suddenly, it was and it did.

But that's cause of the chaos that was currently going on in the apartment at that time.

Let me give you the whole story.

Okay, so, I don't know what time it was that I wrote that but it was far after midnight and I decided that I wanted popcorn so I put some in the microwave and hit the "popcorn" button.

Or so I thought.

Then I started posting and watching baseball and got all distracted and like 10 minutes later I'm like, is that popcorn done yet? I can still hear the microwave but it's not popping.

So I look up and HOLY CRAP.

Like billows of smoke coming from the kitchen.

I ran to stop the microwave, grabbed a towel and waved it in front of the smoke detector for like 5 minutes.

Meanwhile Carter is just sitting there staring at me going, what the hell did you do now, you idiot?

I turn on like every fan in the apartment and open the doors so the smoke will filter out then go back to fanning the smoke detector cause the last thing I want to do is set that off and then all the neighbors will wake up.

So, anyway, I can barely breathe and give up like 5 minutes later and Carter and I escape to the balcony which is where that post ended.

Right after it ended I thought I heard knocking on my apartment door, so thinking it was a neighbor coming to check if everything is okay I get up to go inside and run straight into the screen door.

Cause you know, forgot that I closed that.

By the time I get to the door the person is gone.

So then I freaked out like, what if they called fire and rescue?

Crap.

I have to change.

Can't have them showing up when I'm wearing this.

Cause you know, you're never supposed to wear anything you don't want emergency personnel to see.

Or anything that panics the cat.

Sometimes those two coincide.

So I change but it still smells like smoke so I slept with the balcony door open with the screen door closed.

Came home tonight and it still smelled like smoke so I made stir fry in order to cover it up.

And it worked.

And I didn't burn it.

Which is new.

So yes, I guessing you never knew anyone who lit popcorn on fire in a microwave.

Congratulations, now you can all say that you do.

It takes a special amount of skills to do that.

And burn soup.

And slice your foot open when you're making grilled cheese.

Anyway, I had all this stuff that I wanted to say about yesterday but it got cut short like how I love snarky Walmart employees who tell you not to combine the lighter fluid and donuts that you bought.

Well, the boyfriend bought.

And how UCLA dominated and won the College World Series! So my backup backup team dominated!

Actually would have been my first backup if I would have gone with my gut.

Oh well, still owe the Cool Aunt a round of jalapeno margaritas.

Speaking of the Cool Aunt we saw a preview - also yesterday - for House of Cards and I was like, what is this? It looks awesome! and then it said what it was called and I went, "oh, i have that checked out right now."

Cause the Cool Aunt recommended it and it just came in. But I had requested it purely on her recommendation without looking into it further.

I knew Kevin Spacey was in it.

And that she said to watch it.

But that was it.

So now I'm gonna watch it.

This weekend.

When I'm not working on that takehome test.


Today was good.

I like my job again, yay!

For a teen summer reading event we're making book board games so I'm making an example one and chose Harry Potter.

For which I get to read all the book summaries so I can remember all the places and people and all that to put on the game board.

It's a lot of fun.

Though I am artistically changed so the drawing part of it will be lax.

I also had another teen pick up an application form for TAB today. She seems pretty cool and very mature for her age.

She would make five new members in the past 3 months.

Huzzah!

Next assignment is a take home test due on the 3rd but we don't get it until Thursday.

Speaking of Mondays, today was definitely one.

Go to work and it's fine until I go to get out of my car and there's a downpour.

Like literal downpour.

And me, underestimating the rain as usual, didn't bring a jacket so I was soaked for most of the morning.

The slow day was helpful though because I got a chance to upload my TAB master database and sort through my jars for the event on the 17th.

Which I shouldn't be worried about right now cause the book board game one comes first on the 3rd.

Though I'm guessing our numbers will be low because 1 it's the 3rd of July and 2 because teens don't use our branch as much as the others.

Cause we don't offer them anything.

I'm working on that though.

Seriously should stop reading now.

Night was boring aside from one massive moment of awesomeness.

Interesting day today. Got to spend it at the home branch with the Queen of Awesome herself.

And us working together is even more rare than myself and Slim Shady being paired up.

Needless to say the day flew by.

Got to catch up on a lot of stuff, though I kept getting blamed for things getting broken. Self-checks, Koha holds queue, etc. geez, think the building is still mad at me for leaving.

I miss the good old home branch but with the work branch there's so much more going on all the time. Which is good but can be bad as well.

After an extremely fast 9 hours the boyfriend picked me up and we headed over to Grams place for our annual pitch tournament Christmas party.

Every year it's a huge thing. Gag gifts, pizza, card playing, family stories - you know the usual holiday cheer. Got some interesting presents. A bath mat from my bathroom floor, candy, wine glass, dancing baby... crap. i just got rid of that thing. Its on.

Story behind the dancing baby is a bit of a mystery. It originated around 15 years ago and has been making the rounds ever sense. And its not like a nice cute doll. its ugly. and it dances. Well, its two pieces so when you shake it its upper body flails and it looks like its dancing. and its still in the package. If you get it you're stuck with it for a year before you wrap it up and give it to someone else.

Favorite sister in law and I were pitch partners as usual and dominated...the last game. The game we ended with zero points was a little questionable but to be fair it was much better than the negative score the hand before.

We made some crazy 7 and 8 bids to pull off the final victory. Got a stress ball and a bar of soap favor prizes as apparently working and taking classes is stressful and the soap was a present for those who swear, which I do occasionally.

Sketch is laughing I can tell.

But not in front of Grams. She did pretty well tonight with all the excitement. Usually she gets tired early but she lasted the whole time.

Alright on to the music. Off tomorrow so excited to sleep in. Have a good one.

Pretty coherent for someone running on only three hours of sleep.

Made a lot of progress on the booklist and summer reading stuff during the day. Plus I finished one of those repurposing crafts for the TAB kids as an example and I'm not crafty at all so that was interesting.

Though I did make myself sick twice tonight cause I'm freaking out, which means I should probably go to bed immediately.

You know when you feel something so strongly that it actually makes you want to fight for it? And the thought of it not working literally makes you sick?

That's where I'm at right now.

So, as a way of distraction I fell back to my usual as of late, Charlie's Angels. On the last disc of season one and I'm excited cause it has one of my favorite episodes, aka "Angels at Sea".

Though I like it primarily because it has some of my favorite quotes,
Sabrina: "I love you, I'll prove it, You won't like it, I don't care."

Yes some of my favorites, meaning there are more than one, meaning I probably do watch it too often.

Jill: "My guess is he's the murderer. How else would he know that Charlie called us 'Angels'?"
Sabrina: "Well it just could have been a coincidence. He was trying to come on to all three of us and needed a collective noun. Or is 'Angels' a pronoun?"
Kelly: "Any time I'm stuck I call everything an adverbial phrase. Yep it's an adverbial phrase."
Bosley: "Look first, 'Angels' is a noun, and second..."

But it's classic!

Kelly: "You move it Turkey, we were here first!" Apparently she was the jive-talking angel. But that's season two. The circus episode. Like the fourth one into the season but the first one filmed. You can tell by the tension between the actors, it was Cheryl Ladd's first episode filmed to replace Farrah Fawcett. For some reason they filmed that and then the second season premiere episode.

Okay. I'm crazy. And I need to go to bed.

I was at the desk for a couple hours but it was mostly off-desk projects that took up the majority of my time today. Did my first set of supply rounds today, super exciting.

And actually finished going through the YA section, now all that's left is the display area. It's not much of a display, Girlscout says it feels like a waiting room. I'll fix it. Eventually.

It was weird though cause I kept delegating things to Friday.

Oh I'll do that Friday.

And I can wait for that until Friday.

Then Second Sister said "okay, tomorrow" and I went, ah crap. Friday's tomorrow.

Not that I didn't know it was Thursday, I did subliminally. It says that in big bold letters on the schedule I stared at on multiple occasions today.

Can't believe it's the Thursday before Christmas.

Does it feel like Christmas to any of you?

Cause it doesn't to me.

Maybe that's cause I'm working more than ever before.

I'm used to weeks off from school and snow on the ground.

Now I'm doing nothing but work and there is not a single flake of snow on the ground.

Now wait, I'll wake up tomorrow to a blizzard and you will all blame me.

I've now realized that I have to take Carter to the farmhouse for Christmas. He will love it, he loves the farmhouse, more specifically the basement.

Seriously weird cat.

Cause no one likes that basement, it's creepy.

I cleaned out the whole thing, painted the walls lime green and blue, made a lounge out of the thing and I still don't like the basement. Though it's still got the paintjob and my awesome Harry Potter and Scooby Doo stickers all over the wall.

But he likes it. There's this giant cabinet thing that my brother covered in radio station stickers - no idea why - that he sits on top of and crawls up into the ceiling. No idea where that leads. Or if I should be worried. Or why there's a hole there in the first place.

I think he also likes it because there are window wells that the outdoor cats sit in. Ha! you're out in the cold and I get to lounge in the heat. I will now stare you down. Yes, look away, look away jealous outdoor cats. Though not as pleasing as when he struts back and forth inside the glass doors while the outdoor cats stare at him in spite. I'm so cool and you're just cold.

He's a punk.

A big fat one.

But he's my punk so I love him.

So does his grandma on occasion.

But never grandpa.

Ironically that's the only person he doesn't bite.

Big day tomorrow. Off at 4 to pick up Grams, then it's the pitch party, then gotta pack up my big fat cat and all the rest of my stuff to go jam at the farmhouse for a few days.

It's funny, work makes the day fly by so fast - who can say that and mean it, seriously I love my job - but I was hoping this week would go slower. I don't want Christmas to be over yet!

Christmas time is here, Happiness and cheer

I gave my big fat cat one of his catnip presents early. He's chasing it around the apartment as we speak. Glad he can be entertained by some fabric. Totally exciting.

So, today, was crazy surreal. I was not at the desk all day. I know, right?! I worked on my YA Project and Supplies stuff for the most of the day, and actually made progress. My problem, at the moment, is that I went through the whole YA section and changed all the statuses so they say they're in the YA area, however, some of them still say they're on display while the other half don't. And none of them were on display, I pulled them from the stacks. So, I got the joy and pleasure of going back through them all again. Dylan helped for a while, she rocks. I started at A while she worked back from Z, all I have left tomorrow is Mac-Peters. Awesome. Plus supplies stuff, now that my awesome mentor in supplies has left.

Retirement party for him was today, there was a serious amount of food in the breakroom. It could probably feed a family of 4 for about a week. I am sad that he is leaving, he was always fun to work with. Entertaining and fun to talk to. Plus he always made sure to make sure I was okay with all the supplies stuff, showing me where to find everything and how to place orders for things. I'll be missing that next week when we mysteriously run out of an item and I go flailing up to 3rd floor in an attempt to find some.

After the joy that is work I met up with the Cool Aunt for sushi. She proves yet again why she's so cool by giving me the leftovers. So I'll be eating those probably around 2AM tonight. Yes, small children sleep more than I do, get over it.
We talked about Tokyo Red as a hair color, library stuff, and the awesomeness that will be the family Christmas party on Friday. I'm picking up Grams and bringing her and we're gonna play pitch, drink margaritas, give out gag gifts - I found that freaking dancing baby and I know who I'm giving it to! - and just jam out with the family. I'm stoked.

Alright, as exhausting as today was I'm sure tomorrow will be double that. Lots of people coming in to get stuff before the weekend. We're closed 24-26, I'm stoked for that many days off in a row! Plus the 1-2 of January, and I'm not scheduled on the 31st so add those to the list as well. Awesome! But, then our next break isn't until like February for President's Day so I'm taking these days and running with them.

and there will be much rejoicing.

it's fantastic. a lot of people actually thought it was real, i would have too, but the fact that he died in 77 and she wasn't born until 66 made me think, hmm, someone really has a lot of time on their hands.
it's like when they paired her up with Dean Martin on Baby It's Cold Outside. That actually got released on itunes.

i love that it's THE Christmas Song, not just A Christmas Song. But I guess that's how people remember it.
i love their style, Zooey's voice is totally zen with this one. and yes i realize that pretty much every post so far has something from them, but that's just because their christmas album rocks, look into it!

"Christmas Time is Here" Charlie Brown

Charlie Brown has been one of my favorites ever since Junior year of high school when we did "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown" for our drama production. I was Peppermint Patty, red hair included. I think that was probably the most fun I had in high school ever. Joking around backstage, doing the Macarena to the Kite Song, stealing Mak's gum and putting it in Stuart's Valentine card, that he opened on stage and had to keep a straight face. Came backstage after that scene and whispered, "who put gum in my valentine?!" That was awesome. We always threw in a bunch of random stuff during the Sunday performance. Lot of improv on those ones.

HA! I found them. Well, some of them anyway. Though a lot of them are on Facebook.

Oh god, just found more that aren't on Facebook. Makeup central, don't get your hopes up, I'm skipping those.

Though there are plenty in the Arsenic and Old Lace album since I was the minister's daughter and she wore nothing but dresses and silver high heels. I had to sit on the windowseat box for 8 pages re-applying my makeup. That was fun. Didn't know there was a dead guy in the box at the time.

he gave Second Sister Linus' blanket as a peace offering, but that was only after she threatened his manhood on the dance floor at her wedding. but that's kind of a long story.

I got to hunt rabbits, jump rope, blow giant bubbles with my bubble gum, answer questions in a Dear Abby format, pledge allegiance with liver and onions for all - wrote that myself, playing air baseball and fake throwing it around the stage, dying our hair at Mak's house, buying velcro shoes for Linus, the fun goes on. Best play ever. Seriously.

See, this is why I loved high school and hated college. Maybe if I was more involved in college stuff that would have been different. In high school it was drama productions, One Act stuff, choir tours, basketball manager, yearbook, newspaper editor, in college I did nothing. Just homework.

That was enough really, with the mass amount of reading that comes with being an English Major and taking 4 lit classes at once, there's not a lot of time for anything else.

Alright, so it's official.

Library Fever has spread even farther in our family.

Squirt is officially a volunteer at the work branch.

It was amusing because when I asked people if they had met her they commented on the red highlights. Yes, I take full credit for those. Especially since Oldest Sister blames them on me.

I can't help it if I'm just that awesome that people want to be like me.

She has inherited a lot from me though, besides the red hair. She's got the snark, the blog, and the tom-boyishness (from time to time when she's not wearing spandex to play volleyball or screaming about snakes in the grass while playing soccer), and now she's got the library.

Could be a foot in the door kind of thing. If she likes it maybe she'd want to be an Aide. But that's far far in the future.

No one believes it when I tell them she's only 14. She's taller than me. She's also not allowed to stand next to me in pictures. Cause I feel short. Though I still call her Squirt. It's catching on, Slim Shady did as well.

But she's excited about her nametag - of all things - and she seemed to do pretty well with shelf-reading, so who knows.

I've got people watching out for her, favorite patron included. He was excited to meet her. I'm scared they will bond and swap stories. Maybe this was a bad idea.

All in all it was a fantastic day. Made a lot of progress on both ongoing projects aka YA section and supplies list. Though it took me half an hour just to list everything sitting on two shelves of one cabinet. And that's just one cabinet. This is gonna take forever. I'm making a spreadsheet, I figured that was the easiest way to figure out what we have and what we need. Plus I can send it out so others will know where to find things.

Aside from all that I hung out at Oldest Sister's house for a while, ate with them and then came back here to write. AND IT WORKED! I've been writing for almost two hours straight now. This whole apartment story is taking shape. No idea what I'll do with it when it's done, well, if it gets done. There's still a lot to do. Out of the 10 tenants all the stories have been started, but there is like one that's finished. And that's not even finished finished, it's just slightly finished. Cause it's at the end of a scene. So I could end it there, but people would kill me. They already attempted it in college when they wanted to know what happened next. Yes, I'm pilfering my college stuff. But only the good ones. It's amusing with the change of scenery to be thrown in since the apartment complex is in LA. Brings a whole new element to all of them.

Okay, so far I've got
Apartment 1: The Exotic Dancers Next Door, I blame this idea completely on a night out watching a friend's band with Superwoman, the awesomeness that is Barb and Slim Shady in which there literally were exotic dancers next door.

2: Sketch and Edit, which I have plenty of. Though I feel like I should reformat them so they'll fit in with the rest of the story. But then I can't cause they wouldn't be Sketch and Edit.
Though I really don't need to since each story is different in formatting, person, tense, and all that jazz. The only reason I'm tying them all together in the first place is because I'm making them all live in the same apartment building that gets mentioned at least once in each story and then I'll bring them together in the end when I either decide to burn down the building from the kid in apartment 7's mad science experiment, or when the tenants in 4 and 8 get married. But I'm still deciding on the end. Like I said, work in progress.

3: Kris's awkward 4th of July experience entitled "Oh What a Tangled Web We Weave", this is the one from college everyone wants me to add to. But it's hard as I like it the way it is. So did the prof, she said read the whole thing through because she was so into it, then had to go back and make comments.

4: Is a chick in love with the dude in apartment 8. They have their own balcony scene, it's a comedy go with it.

5: This is Lindsay, she breaks up a wedding, confusion ensues.

6: Jake lives here, he moved here from a rural town after, well, okay the only clue I'm giving you with this story is that it's entitled "One Headlight" turn on some Wallflowers and you'll figure it out. It's the only one of them so far that's completely emotional and not funny at all.

7: The insane teenager living with his mom. The first scene takes place at the shrink's office after he punched the lights out of the school bully.

8: The landscaper by day, waiter by night who has bad luck in love until he meets the upstairs neighbor in apartment 4. Balcony scene included.

9: Is Jax. He's an assassin. This is the sole story that's actually finished. And that's only because I can absolutely not add anything more to it's ending. If I do it will screw over the entire story. Inspiration for that one came after I got smashed by an idiot at an intersection, which is funny because the car crash scene is just a mere page compared to the rest of it. Anyway, so there was that but I also got it from a story we read in college about an office building, each person there had their own story - sound familiar? almost like an apartment complex, hmm - one of them was a serial killer. Everyone knew but he didn't kill any of them so they didn't care. Jax is a bit more discreet about it so they're not aware.

10: Thomas Family. Mom, Dad, Teenage Girl, Tween Boy. Teenage girl has a thing for a library boy. That's as far as I've gotten. But at least it's written down!

So yes, they're completely different stories about completely different people in completely different writing styles, and maybe it's a completely stupid idea but I'm up for the challenge. and it keeps me entertained.

But it's ongoing, so I'll keep you posted.

Speaking of obscure references, I quoted Caddyshack today and pretty sure no one had any idea what I was talking about.
Superwoman said I should help out with the TAB program at one of the branches in January and I said, "Oh, Das all I need! Tanks for nuthin' Danny Noonan!" and got nothing.
Not surprising, there's a lot of quotes that float around in my head throughout the day, I'm sure half of them are obscure enough to only be recognized by hard-core fans of either Friends, Charmed, or Just Shoot Me.

i cannot pimp this album any more, it's fantastic, buy it! or check it out! somewhere! this is one of the few songs in which he actually does vocals. and i'm not talking few on this album, i mean few period. it's usually just Zooey, which is fine as and she is fantastic, but it's cool to hear his voice as well.

classic movie is the best, no offense to jim carrey, who's also fantastic but not as fantastic as boris karloff. i watch it every christmas and read the book, though i have them both memorized.

I cannot convey how much I love She & Him's new Christmas CD. Buy it. Or check it out on iTunes. It's worth it. Zooey Deschanel's voice is fantastic and they don't kill any of the classics - like so many others do. I'm impressed.
Although, whenever I hear "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" I cry no matter who sings it. And if they suck it's because they suck. I have no idea why that song. So don't ask. Just like I can't keep a straight face when I hear "Baby, It's Cold Outside." But I blame that on Tallulah Bankhead. I'll explain that one later.

It's excellent. And now there is a significant hunk-o-booze-cake sitting in my fridge. Surrounded by other random leftovers that have built up this week.

But that was yesterday. Today was class, and I think I'm good. And forgiven. It seems to be good, "I'll probably do it to you twice before we're done." So life is good again. Huzzah! Excited about life! Well. Getting there.

Class this morning, went early so I could grab coffee for self and the Library Goddess on the way. Then hit up their impromptu lunch thing in the lobby with sloppy joes and the fixings. I jammed with David. I seem to be hanging out with him at class a lot. He's cool. We jam in the back corner for class. And he's in cataloging with me next semester as well. We also redesigned the same library, he's the one that set me straight on the due dates and saved my butt.

But anyway, we watched the game in the lobby and cheered and yelled at the screen. Freaked out one of my female classmates when she thought I was yelling at her to "GO!" No. Not you. Burkhead. Up the middle. Sorry. WHAT A GAME!! Oh man!! I could not be prouder of my boys. Seriously. That was a tough game with all the drama involved but they kept it together and were classy about it as well. No disrespect at all, met them on the field before the game. I was impressed. And that was drama central. I don't even want to think about that, seriously. Awful.

After that I came and watched some Scooby Doo at the apartment, finished all my discs so I can return them tomorrow. I'm loving these collections that have them grouped by genre. Scooby Doo and the Zombies or and the Pirates or and the Ghosts. It's fantastic. Cause it's classic episodes mixed in with the "What's New Scooby Doo's" and all that. I'm a fan. Our whole family is a fan. My big brother used to take a break from driving tractors when he was like 10 to come back and watch Scooby Doo for half an hour before he'd go back out to work. Left a 4-wheeler at the end of the field for him. Still makes me laugh. I'm tempted to download the original theme as my family ringtone. Not that Super Mario Bros. is getting old, but it's good to switch it up every once in a while.

Aannd after that I hit up the Parthenon with Oldest Sister. She was pretty much zonked out with tiredness so when we attempted to watch Captain America afterward she was out within minutes. "You awake" .... .... .... "Guess not." But I jammed with her fluffy cat on the couch. Although she was freaking me out. Has a thing for my jeans. Think they smell like Carter or something.

no she didn't have a baby. see, the thing about us being sketch and edit is that we talk about really random things and if they were sent to someone that wasn't us that person would be really really confused. so, to avoid that confusion, she always makes sure that my name is the first name under C in her cellphone so that she doesn't send anything by mistake to someone else. Even if their name starts with a C and goes before mine alphabetically they get filed another way.

I was actually semi-productive today. On my day off even.

Picked up Squirt's jersey, plus bought some xmas stuff - She & Him has a xmas album, I'm stoked! Now that other people can actually tell the difference between her and her sister she's all over the place. Zooey = New Girl, Emily = Bones. Both play the title role in the show.

Aside from that I'm officially done shopping for my mother. Well, big stuff anyway. I'll continue to get her little stuff as the season goes on just because she buys the most stuff for people.

After that stopped by Target to get my Diet Dr. Pepper - can't run out of that or I'll die, then did some homework. I'm almost done with the book report, really all that's left is coming up with discussion questions that meet Bloom's Taxonomy standards and meeting with the group. Then posting all that online.

Once that's done I can focus on the blueprints for the before and after a library redesign. You know it's sad when you can close your eyes and draw out the current layout by heart. But I've got a couple of weeks before that's due so I'll just the next week or so accumulating ideas.

Oh my god, I love "2 Broke Girls". Got picked up for the rest of the season on CBS, huzzah! I'm STOKED!
The character dynamics are fantastic and it's like the live audience just adds to their acting. It's like they're gonna bust out laughing at any moment because the dialogue is that funny. Lots of sarcasm. Max is my favorite, she reminds me a lot of Daria - did anyone else watch that show? She's got the whole sarcasm, doesn't care about the world approach while Caroline is the former heiress who's father just went broke so she's just starting out in the working world but still cares about what everyone thinks.

Plus they have a horse.

Well I am young but I have aged...

Oh the joys of Easter. Lots of food, lots of candy, time with family, now I'm in need of a giant nap. But it was a good day. Church, then second sister and I hid the eggs (with the easter bunny i mean) and it was like candy overload. We always get too much, but it's awesome that way. My brother enjoys it because he finds more and more candy throughout the week. After dinner the kids were running all over the place finding the candy and playing on the playground area. Dad built this playhouse thing with a slide and a sandbox and a merry-go-round with a bunch of swings...all for the grandkids of course. We didn't get any of this stuff, huh.
Anyway, there was so much food! and then we watched - well attempted to watch - Angels and Demons, but I had to keep changing the channel when the scary parts were on since kids were running in and out of the room, plus half the adults were napping. It was humorous. So, two crying children and a broken crockpot later I'm home and jamming out on my couch.

Soy un perdedor

Does anyone else have this quirk where you hear an accent and then it's almost mandatory that you talk in that accent? Or is that just me? I think it's just me. You should have went to "New In Town" with myself and Amber squared, I couldn't stop talking in a Minnesotan accent for hours. They were laughing so hard and I was going bananas. My worst fear though is that everytime a foreigner comes in and asks for something and I answer that I'm answering back in that accent. Because that would be awful and awkward. But there's always that feeling like after they walk away where I'm like, I didn't do it did I?
Anyway, it's freakin' Magwilde and her Scottish accent that's been driving me bonkers. Even though it's a British show and she's supposedly a British archaeologist. Or maybe she's a Scot who works at a British University. It only lasted 6 episodes so they didn't explain that much. But yeah, Bonekickers, despite its awful reviews and thus its cancellation, it's really not that bad. Kinda cool actually with them talking about Excalibur, Joan of Arc, WW2, Knights Templar, the True Cross, Boudica, etc. But I'm a nerd.

Okay so this is one of those headspace songs that's completely anti-HeeHaw which of course was the first thing I got sucked into watching when I walked through the door. Give the man some free time and he gets a whole list of videos I'm supposed to watch while I'm here. And today's was hysterical, like these twin brothers were singing some song and I couldn't get through the thing with a straight face. Awful. I mean the song was okay but not the brothers with their feathered hair and their dancing with tamborines and guitars. I'll have to find it and link you to it cause seriously. I'd like to see you get through it with a straight face. But he's dad, so there will be plenty more tomorrow.
Back to the headspace, it's "Loser" by Beck, and this video is almost as morbid and disturbing as yesterday's She & Him. I could make a week out of morbid and disturbing music videos but I don't think it would end well. So I'll try to leave it as these two and post some sort of annoying, Pop, stuck in your head all day, jam out song instead.


Oh right, Awesome day at work, we have this cataloguer who works upstairs a few hours a week and right before opening she yelled, "Let's take 'em down!" Jumpstart to a very fast and quite frantic day. There wasn't a lot of time to sit down but I've found that's been happening a lot lately, maybe it's cause summer is approaching or something.
Tomorrow I'll hopefully be able to sleep in, and not wake up at 12AM thinking its 12 PM then freak out and start getting ready for work just to realize its still pitch dark out so I'm not actually late. Which is another quirk as of late. So yeah, hopefully not that for tomorrow, I'm aiming more towards sleep or like naps. And watching TV. and working on my paper due Saturday cause I probably won't get a lot done during the week.

Apparently pepper is healthy for you whereas salt is unhealthy. So, when sprinkling something with seasoning it is better for you if you choose pepper over salt. Who knew? So she did 25 pepper shakes and 1 salt shake. Awesomeness.

Gotta love family. My aunt and uncle moved here into this like awesome house, it's seriously impressive. We all went out to dinner then came back for a tour of the house. Lots of people. But awesome house. I'm super jealous. It was funny though because they were talking about how much stuff they had and then they were like, "the only thing worse would be moving your parents." Because seriously, my parents have a lot of stuff. Model trains, old cars, beanie babies, beer mugs, who knows what else is in that basement. Madness. They're never moving. We won't let them. Seriously.

Irony is that I was just talking about my aunt and uncle today at work. They live in Iowa. I used to go over to their house and play pool then go to Adventureland and all that. Ride all the roller coasters. Fun times. My uncle used to go on all of them with me, we liked to be in the front. I would like scream at the top of the hill going down and he would just put his hands up, haha.

After dinner/house tour we went back to my sister's house where I was foosball champion yet again. Undefeated, take that! Soulja Boy and The Chad totally dominated.

Today was a good day at work, short day actually so I mostly boxed up donations instead of working more on my project. Maybe Space Cadet will be there this week to help again.

It took a while for our food because they were like out of whatever so we had to reorder. But it was funny because he couldn't hear what she was saying anyway because we were yelling across to the other side of the room. There were a lot of people at the table plus the game on.

My other aunt and uncle have grapes in their garden but apparently they moved them or something and they're not doing so well so my aunt was like, "Yeah, they're in shock." Grapes? Really? Sad day.

Tomorrow means work 'til 6 then head to the farmhouse to take stuff to the parentals and stay over. Catch up on my DVR. Possible relaxation. Or being forced to watch HeeHaw reruns. Which really is the opposite of relaxation. Dad and his DVR. Crimeony.

Okay, right now, gotta say I'm loving Anne Hathaway. "You are the Wolve to my Rine." Not that I didn't already love her, she's actually kind of awesome. I already rambled about Get Smart on favorites day whatever...two? yeah, day two. Plus, James Franco in a dress? That was niiiice... BTW - loved their musical version of Harry Potter totally gonna find that on youtube later.
As you've probably guessed, yes I am watching the Oscars which is another one of my favorite things. I'm kind of an Awards Junkie so it's cool for Day 7 to fall on tonight. Not like I planned it that way, I'm not that smart.

And wow, day 7. I think I've gotten more hits this week than any other so that's big. There's people overseas reading about my obsessions. Madness. Sadly I'm glad it's day 7 because I have no idea what other topics I could cover. Fashion trends? I was big into tearaways for years. lots of tearaways and backwards hats. then dyed hair, which is still around. Catchphrases? there's too many of those. I could go all "Inside the Actor's Studio" on you and talk about my favorite swear word. Which I won't. Although I have been saying "Janet" a lot as I think it has artistic integrity. Hooray for Rocky Horror. I tried "oh pigeons" Mark, really I did. But I just can't pull it off like you.

"What part of un-ass do you not understand?" stoked for her new series. yet another female ME I'm going to love. Claire WMC...Maura R&I...the ME from the Closer is kinda girly with his long hair, does he count? I do enjoy him. haha.

Foreign language total jam out song - is a tie between "Dragostea Din Tei" aka the Numa Numa song or "Boten Anna" by Basshunter. Both are frequents on my ipod. I encourage you to check them both out. Fantastic. Actually Basshunter came out with an English version of BA called "Now You're Gone" but it's not as good.
