Apparently pepper is healthy for you whereas salt is unhealthy. So, when sprinkling something with seasoning it is better for you if you choose pepper over salt. Who knew? So she did 25 pepper shakes and 1 salt shake. Awesomeness.
Gotta love family. My aunt and uncle moved here into this like awesome house, it's seriously impressive. We all went out to dinner then came back for a tour of the house. Lots of people. But awesome house. I'm super jealous. It was funny though because they were talking about how much stuff they had and then they were like, "the only thing worse would be moving your parents." Because seriously, my parents have a lot of stuff. Model trains, old cars, beanie babies, beer mugs, who knows what else is in that basement. Madness. They're never moving. We won't let them. Seriously.
Irony is that I was just talking about my aunt and uncle today at work. They live in Iowa. I used to go over to their house and play pool then go to Adventureland and all that. Ride all the roller coasters. Fun times. My uncle used to go on all of them with me, we liked to be in the front. I would like scream at the top of the hill going down and he would just put his hands up, haha.
After dinner/house tour we went back to my sister's house where I was foosball champion yet again. Undefeated, take that! Soulja Boy and The Chad totally dominated.
Today was a good day at work, short day actually so I mostly boxed up donations instead of working more on my project. Maybe Space Cadet will be there this week to help again.

I've learned that there is no such thing as a normal day. Or a normal schedule. Every day is different, or turns out different than planned. I like it, it keeps things fresh. I'll never get bored. That's new.
So, the awesome weekend-o-relaxation is over and it's back to work for me. Today was sort of a random schedule, 9-10 as one thing 10-11 as another 11-12 back to the first thing then 3-8 as the second thing. Fun times. But the weekend was worth it, got to see the BFF and catch up - she puts up with all my crap, what more could I ask for really? Plus got to watch a lot stuff I had checked out which is good cause everything comes at once so it's been building up.
Tonight is Castle - "Richard Castle you are neither trained nor professional" - I love that Lanie is a soap opera junkie, that's fantastic. Yikes, special guest star central! Was that Jane Seymore?!
Tomorrow I'll catch up on the rest aka Harry's Law, Glee and all that - if it's new, I'm behind on life, woops. Will look it up tomorrow.

A night for mashups - blame the Ides

You know you're off to a bad start when you have to text your mom in the morning to check if someone died.

Luckily the rest of the day was better. I've started these projects at the smaller branch, I went through all the jnonfiction and opened like every book to make sure it was ours because the bulk of them don't have it written on the spine. And we have a lot. So it took more than one day. But I found 11 that weren't ours, 1 in transit since 2009. Today I started on the jfiction. Tomorrow I will finish that and start on the jP's aka picture books aka the most we have in any section. And they're tiny. Should be fun. Cause I'm crazy. But everything looks all shiny and pretty!...for like an hour... Then kids come and that's all gone. I feel like I should take pictures to document that at one point it was all pretty and shiny.
Songs of the night...hmm... I'm feeling like a mashup, maybe two.
DJ Lobsterdust is awesome at these mashups, this is my favorite because it's soooo random. UNK vs. Avril Lavigne vs. Toni Basil...seriously? But it works! and it's sweet, you gotta check it out.
I love 2:24 just because you're not expecting it after watching everything else so far... haha. even the videos are mashed, it's awesome. and yes, i do love the "girlfriend" video by avril lavigne. it's fantastic. you should check out the full version if you have time.

Okay, I'm being lazy today and just hitting you with a music rec. You've read my rambles all week I feel like I should give you time off.
Although I did go to the dentist today, no cavities, yay for a perfect record. We got to discuss my big red x in front of the desk moment when I got to fill out the forms. One of the questions was if I have ever had a reaction to novacaine. I should have put yes in big red bold letters.
Here's the Scissor Sisters' "I don't feel like dancin" which clearly he does because he dances during the entire video. But whatever. And if you like this one I strongly recommend you check out "Take your mama" which is another one of my favorites.
My second sister got me hooked on them one summer when we were camping. The video is a little bizarre at times but I actually immensely enjoy it. I think the stop action thing is kinda cool, plus his purple outfit man, that's just awesome.

Joe Studley and the Lost in Transit
So we decided to form a band today at work. I did the lost in transit list and we discussed how that would be a cool band name so the QofA is gonna play flute, my Glee-loving boss will play trumpet, my other boss is gonna play piano, I'll play guitar and Joe Studley is gonna be our lead singer. He's gonna do impressions of his favorite bands, we think it'd be exciting. Now all we need is a drummer. But we'll call ourselves "Joe Studley and the Lost in Transit" or just "Lost in Transit" I'm partial to the Joe Studley version just because that nickname is so funny. He used it to describe someone and now it's sticking to him. Am I the only one who hasn't heard that expression before?

What if the Hokey Pokey really IS what it's all about?
Like really? What would that say about life?
Hooray for a split shift! Went in twice and spent the time between writing. Which I miss immensely. But working in public service is always good for inspiration and humor.
Got to work with Space Cadet again tonight. She called me dirt. Then said I'm below dirt, mining for minerals. It's not as bad as it sounds when it's in context of what we were talking about, but out of context is what I gave her crap for. It's funny because two days ago she called me her kid - we matched with like the same color green shirts jeans and red hair as did the QofA we should have taken a group picture - then earlier tonight she called me a wizkid and then like ten minutes later I was dirt. But it's worth it cause now I get to say "She called me dirt...." in a sad voice every time I see her.
The song of the day I listened to repeatedly while writing more adventures of Sketch and Edit. It's like relaxing, I love the deep voice. It zenned me out. So I'm posting it. This one came out last year. He's probably wildly popular - like I said, I don't listen to the radio - but I do enjoy this song.

Let's do the Time Warp again....

Attitude: Tired, yes that's an attitude.
Slept in, went to work, shelved books, came home, watched NCIS on USA - hooray for the season one marathon, I love Kate - went to nephew's basketball game, got updated on who was winning the SAG awards while at the game, came home from the game and watched the rest of the SAG awards and now am sitting on the couch staring at my computer screen. I'm exhausted. My nephew is actually quite good btw, very aggressive under the hoop, he made me proud. I hope I get to go to the games at my high school, every year they do a tournament with all the grade schools. I remember playing in those, oh man, and it seemed so much more fast paced at the time. But now just watching it's like, was it really like this when we played? Maybe it was and I'm just building it up in my mind.
The SAG awards were awesome, as always. I'm kind of an awards junkie when it comes to movies and music. I keep up with the nominations and the red carpet stuff, yeah I'm a nerd. But I'm very happy that Natalie Portman won for best actress and Colin Firth for best actor and then that the King's Speech won for best ensemble. That was very exciting, Colin's speech was funny. The speeches usually take so long, some people ramble longer than I do and I secretly want the music to start playing so that they'll go away but his was great.
I'm sad that Glee didn't win tonight but I mean, it's hard to beat Betty White in any category really. So, in their honor, I'll hit you with one of my favorite songs at the moment. They did this Rocky Horror episode in the first part of the second season (now out on DVD btw) which is probably the most well-known episode of the show. It was fantastic, and the music was fantastic. And it came out right before Halloween so Grandma (25-year-old coworker) and I went to go see the real Rocky Horror in a theater for Halloween and I think it scarred her for life. Haha, but it was hilarious because they're yelling out commentary, throwing toast, spraying water guns, so basically if you haven't already seen the movie you have no idea what's going on because you can't hear what they're actually saying. Since the movie really doesn't have much of a plotline anyway that makes things even harder to follow. Luckily I had already seen it so I kind of went with the flow. And I'm thinking about going again next year. It was just too funny. So, in honor of Glee and Rocky Horror I'll hit you with my music rec of the Glee version of Rocky Horror's probably best and most popular song the "Time Warp". Enjoy.

Angry Birds, Angry Birds, What You Gonna Do? What You Gonna Do When They Come For You?

Today's Highlights:
-I killed a pig with a bird. It was very exciting and strange at the same time. Superwoman has this awesome app on her Droid called "Angry Birds" apparently it's really popular. You slingshot angry birds at pigs. They're so angry they crush the pigs under buildings and then explode. It's pretty wicked sweet. I'm just curious as to what the pigs did to piss off the birds so much that you fail if you don't kill them all. Yikes.
- I answered an instant message in Spanish. You can instant message the library with questions. This one was in Spanish. My high school Spanish teacher would be so proud. I actually have used it a lot at the library, I should work more on it so I can be better in the future.
- Went grocery shopping and bought a lot of good food that involves spending time in the kitchen. Yikes but good yikes. I will learn. and hopefully not take down my building in the process.
- Ate supper with sister and watched The A-Team. Hilarious. I forgot how much I like Liam Neeson. And Bradley Cooper was probably the best character, apart from the crazy guy anyway. Hilarious. I'd give it a 8/10 on my Scale of Awesome.
Tomorrow is half-day then cleaning apartment, doing homework, working ahead - because I don't during the week - and getting through some of these DVD seasons. I have multiple out and they're all due next week, except the one I got today Burn Notice season 1! Woohoo! Loving Michael Weston.
The weekend means possible girls night, more cleaning, more homework, more work work, and then a sister's night out for supper. Not in that order. But should be fun.

Lazy day with the Warehouse gang, Hey Monday and Stacy Clark
Hooray for a day off! I debated calling for pizza but I thought it would be mean to make them drive all the way out here on the icy roads. Plus I don't have cash. Maybe they would let me pay in fruit rollups. I have plenty of those. I would cook but while the flames that would shoot out from my kitchen would temporarily keep me warm with all this snow it probably would be bad in the long-run. Whatever, more microwave lasagne for me.
Me and my big fat cat had a lazy day. Slept in til noon - don't tell mom - mostly because I looked outside and was like whoa! k, not driving on that. There's like a foot of snow all over our parking lot at my complex.
So, I finished Warehouse 13 season one - um whoa, cliffhanger! and debated watching the other things I have out - The Runaways, Blazing Saddles, The Nanny, Murder She Wrote - yes I'm a complex woman - but nothing sounded good. So I'm just listening to music instead. And on Facebook. Which I haven't been. In forever. Good to have it updated.
So, instead of rambling about things I haven't done today I'll hit you with another music rec and get back to my laziness. Lately I've been feeling artsy - most of the recs have been pretty artsy, but I listen to a lot of top 40 stuff too. This one is a little artsy I guess as well. Itunes freebies are always fun and lead to other good stuff which is how I found Stacy Clark and also Hey Monday. Both great bands. I love the entire "Connect the Dots" CD by Stacy Clark but my favorite is probably Touch and Go or White Lies. I highly recommend you check them out.
Hey Monday is quickly rising to the top of my list of favorite underrated bands. I hope they hit it big time soon. Catchy melodies and lyrics. And a lot of angry chick stuff too, haha.

So, I finished Warehouse 13 season one - um whoa, cliffhanger! and debated watching the other things I have out - The Runaways, Blazing Saddles, The Nanny, Murder She Wrote - yes I'm a complex woman - but nothing sounded good. So I'm just listening to music instead. And on Facebook. Which I haven't been. In forever. Good to have it updated.
So, instead of rambling about things I haven't done today I'll hit you with another music rec and get back to my laziness. Lately I've been feeling artsy - most of the recs have been pretty artsy, but I listen to a lot of top 40 stuff too. This one is a little artsy I guess as well. Itunes freebies are always fun and lead to other good stuff which is how I found Stacy Clark and also Hey Monday. Both great bands. I love the entire "Connect the Dots" CD by Stacy Clark but my favorite is probably Touch and Go or White Lies. I highly recommend you check them out.
Hey Monday is quickly rising to the top of my list of favorite underrated bands. I hope they hit it big time soon. Catchy melodies and lyrics. And a lot of angry chick stuff too, haha.

1-5-11
The problem with putting your ipod on shuffle is that the worst songs start to play when your hands are full and you can't do anything about it. Like the songs that you forgot are even on there because there are like a thousand on the thing in the first place. Then, they get stuck in your head. So you drown them out with others but that doesn't work. Today I got hit with one of the worst. Hanson's Mmmbop. Yes I am from that generation. I forgot it was on there. And it hit me mid-parking lot when I was carrying food and mail and dvd's and everything else that's accumulated during the day. Ridiculous. So I tried to reach for my pocket but I couldn't without dropping something. I attempted to walk faster but there's ice everywhere and that would be just what I needed. My neighbors to see me fall like faceplant on the ice. It's happened. Just not here. At college. In the parking lot. In front of the cafeteria. Awful. People used to go to breakfast and sit by the windows just so they could count how many people fell on the ice on their way to class.
Quote of the day comes from one of my favorite coworkers. "You bring out the worst in me. I mean that in the best possible way." Made my day. Especially because ten minutes later she called me a genius. Haha. "I hate naps almost as much as I hate musicals," came in close second. Also from the same person. We talked blogs. I love blogging. It's healthy.

"A little opera goes a long way" by Sky Sailing. Their lead singer is the same guy from Owl City who I didn't really like at first but now I love. Not so much for Fireflies, mostly Vanilla Twilight. Video isn't a video but it's the song that counts. Very artsy. But catchy.

Happy , Happy New Year!
Every time I heard the words 'happy new year' I could hear Captain Raydor's voice in my head and then Tao's follow-up, "I really hate her! Did I say that out loud?" Gotta love the Closer. I'm beginning to really like Mary McDonnell. Excellent addition to the cast, even if it is only a recurring guest spot.
And Wow, 1-1-11, that's new.
Today was our family xmas, so right now I'm exhausted and it's only 9:55. Sad day. Two nights of staying up late will do that to a girl I guess. First, two nights ago, I got to watch us get our butts wooped by Washington. That was just pitiful and sucks because now I gotta put up with my coworker who said we were gonna lose. There was no motivation from us at all. It's like our whole team is depressed or something. Bo needs to turn that around.
Then, last night was filled with playstation - aka SSX Tricky, Simpson's Road Rage and Dance Dance Revolution - drinking lots of sparkling cider even though we're both of age, flipping between Carson and Ryan and their crews (um, did Dick Clark look really at retiring age to anyone else or is that just me? and c'mon MTV step it up! Jersey Shore? Seriously?!) and falling asleep watching Boy Meets World. Same thing every year, but the Boy Meets World is new. We usually watch Pirates or Jason Bourne. Also, we didn't run around the house at midnight, sad day. Usually we bring a bottle of sparkling cider with us, shake it and then pop the cork spraying it everywhere in the process of awesomeness. (I say that word a lot, Awesomeness. I've noticed that my aunt has started saying it as well. It's catchy. Say it with me: Awesomeness.) Anyway, we took this year off of running as it was freaking freezing out there. And we're old. We figured that out while playing DDR and almost dying out after the first round. But it was fun. Same thing every year. Nothing really planned - it was funny. She texted and was like "you have plans for new years" and I was like "yeah with you!" and that was as far as the planning process went. We go with the flow.
And what was up with the countdown acts this year? I really need to listen to the radio more or something because the only people I recognized were MCR and Avril (hooray for a comeback from her btw).
Interesting fact about CK #-whatever-we're-up-to: I don't listen to the radio. I listen to my ipod. Constantly. And have a hookup for my car so it plays through the speakers.
So, because of this interesting fact, I had to text my best friend - "okay, i'm lame. who is that?" But she didn't know either so that was helpful.
Good times.

Big dinner with the family, excellent food as always, then opening presents which always turns into some kind of a disaster area with all the wrapping paper everywhere. Our family splurges. After the disaster area was cleared we played - you guessed it - some Apples to Apples which is fastly becoming a family favorite. This time, Sarah and Mark got hosed, ha! And Cindy and Teina dominated. We didn't play it for four hours, but it was around 2. Times flies. And again with the good one-liners: "Okay, who put 'labor unions' as irresistable?" "Steakspeare" "Toasters? Someone got tired of looking at that one in their hand. I got discarded." "Hmmm, amputations or Sunday drivers for horrifying?"
After that was pitch - 2 tables so the losers walked a whole 2 feet to the other one. No real walk of shame like at my aunt's when you had to go all the way downstairs. Cindy and I partnered up and did pretty well. I shot the moon with a AKQJ2 and drew the 3. Awesome.
Then more good food, meanwhile kids running all over the place. But they're between the ages of 1 and 6, what else are they supposed to be doing? While Mandy and Joe hung with the adults. Some crazy grandma gave two 4-year-old-boys fake shotguns that make noise when you pull the trigger. I'm sure their parents are loving that right about now. Don't look at me. I didn't pick them out. Geez mom. And my oldest sister got them fake chainsaws. It's hilarious. One year, like years ago, my second sister Sarah gave our only nephew at the time a drum set. He loved it, his parents didn't. Ever since, it's like they've been trying to one up each other for loudness just for payback. It's become kind of a running joke.
So, I guess it's time for the official list. The dreaded one. Which I've cut down to hopefully things that might actually last for longer than this week.
1. Write more, read more, eat less.
The first two are healthy and entertaining and will keep me out of trouble. The third is basically just going to become no food after 10PM. And more eating healthy during the day instead of being lazy and picking up Arby's just because it's on my way home. The drivethru guy knows me. It's funny and pathetic all in one. We always end with , "see you around."
Which leads me to number
2. Learn how to cook. At some point this year. Doesn't have to be right away. Just more than mac-and-cheese and microwave meals. I'm putting it off because I like my apartment and don't want to watch as it goes up in flames. Read Sketch and Edit Make Grilled Cheese if you get a chance. Based on a true story.
3. I'm not putting exercise more. Because I know it won't happen. I'm on my feet all day, and I'm not going to wake up early or have any energy by the end of the day to go to the rec center. What I am putting is keeping my mind open to taking self-defense classes this summer with my favorite patron.
4. Is to work on time management. Grad school starts on the 15th. I already have homework for it I haven't started. That all starts Monday. Ordering the textbook, visiting all the websites, finding out what I need to have done by the first class. My aunt is awesome because she teaches on that campus so she's going to show me where I'm going and where to park. Gotta love family connections.
Those are all I'm ready to fully put in writing. I'm sure more will develop throughout the month.
In other news, Congrats go out to the TCU Hornfrogs! Woohoo! I routed for them in baseball in Omaha so I felt I should again today. We got to watch parts of the games between family stuff.
Also, I'm thinking Oregon as the champion over Auburn. I've always liked them. Maybe that's because we never play them but still...
Music Rec: Two musical groups I'm commending just for the heck of it are Ashlyne Huff - check out her single "Heart of Gold" and Theory of a Dead Man's "Since You've Been Gone". Both very good emotional-from-the-heart songs, one more upbeat than the other.
It's a decent video since there is actual music and dancing, that's new for MTV nowadays, sadly.
Now that's depressing.
Neither video is spectacular but you get the point. The music is good, and underrated. So I'm recommending it. Spread the word.
