I could write a blog. I have thoughts.

Life at the library, adventures with friends and other hysterics...

You know it's a fun-filled Halloween when you cheer cause a second cop pulled you over.

I'll get there.

So here was my Halloween.

Home branch in the morning. Wore my Nerd Herd t-shirt which the alarm guy recognized and called out.

Go Team Bartowski!

On the desk when who should make a surprise visit but the Space Cadet! After being gone a month - or more - due to injury she hobbled her way in to pick up some holds.

I got a hug, I felt special.

Apparently, due to her injury, we are no longer allowed to use the back door as that whole area is just prone for disaster.

After two hours at the home branch I went over to the work branch for another two, one of which was spent weeding our youth collection, the other was on the front desk with the Queen of the Known Universe. I had like 6 stats total. Rockstar huh? Not so much but not my fault.

Hamburger for lunch from the usual place across the street.

Off to practicum - Practicum CountUp 67:20/90 - where Mr. BossMan Tom had homemade eyeballs for treats.

Frozen grapes rolled in cherry jello powder. The strategy is to freeze the grapes so it creates condensation then roll the grapes in a pack of jello powder - you can pick the flavor - then put them in the fridge. They were awesome. He sent me home with a cup full since he had half a tupperware thing leftover.

Oh the pains of being an intern, leftover food, my life is so rough.

Practicum was good, a lot of more interest in the libraries now that we have the internet computers up and running.

After practicum I headed out to see the boyfriend which is when I checked my email and did a slightly embarrassing jump for joy. Actually it was more of a jump out of shock cause I PASSED MY COMPS!

Of course they don't give you any feedback it's just pass or fail. Which is both bad and good. Bad because I put hours and hours of work into those and I'd like to hear something, but good because if they were crap I don't want to hear, "well, they sucked but we felt bad for you so..."

One of my comrades also passed, I'm still waiting to hear back from the other. If all three of us succeed there will be drinks in our future.

Though that's probably true if the other one fails too.

All I have left is the rest of my 90 hours for Practicum and a few more assignments for Youth Services and then I'll graduate and get my Master's in Library Science at the graduation ceremony in December.

Called my mom, then the Cool Aunt since it's her fault I'm in the program in the first place, then sent out a text to the rest of the family and the Library Goddess. The consensus is good.

Second Sister called me a big stud, I wasn't sure how to respond to that.

After all that calmed down the boyfriend and I got Runza for supper - if you're not from Nebraska Google it - then watched The Skeleton Key.

That was messed up. He was shocked I'd never heard of it. I'm a fan of hers but not diehard so must have slipped by. Scale of Awesome says 5/10. I told him if it gave me nightmares it was his fault. Of course he's at work now so he's preoccupied anyway.

So I left his place and I'm almost to the interstate when suddenly this car speeds up and pulls behind me and then I see the lights turn on. I was totally confused, I had my seatbelt on, I wasn't speeding, I'm not drunk. I pulled over - on the on ramp btw not cool - and he comes up and is like, "your headlight is out."

What?

In my head I'm like "it is not, my mechanic boyfriend has been driving this car around all night he would have noticed something like that."

Apparently not so much.

I'll take it as a compliment actually he must have just been too focused on the awesomeness that was me and missed out on the whole missing line of sight deal part thing.

Or maybe it went out after he stopped driving it.

Either way he gave me a fix-it ticket and said keep it with me in case I get pulled over again.

Me, being the sarcastic person that I am, was like okay, how many cops can I get to pull me over and give me the same ticket?

Now, there are rules to this pursuit.

First rule, don't speed. You don't want to get an additional ticket.

Second rule, remember to use your turn signal. You don't want to get an additional ticket.

Third rule, continue to wear your seatbelt. You don't want to get an additional ticket.

Fourth rule, watch the road. You don't want to get into an accident because of your effort to get a replicate ticket.

I passed tons of cops and I was getting sad cause no one was pulling me over.

Slackers.

There was one a few miles from where I got pulled over initially that had its lights on when I passed him but then they turned off so I think the initial patrolman actually cleared him for me.

Bummer.

So I'm driving and I make it to town and I'm about to turn off of the highway when I see a cop in the median - or the grass thing is it still called a median when there's grass on it and cops park on it? Anyway, I see the brake lights come on and I started to cheer.

Oh come on, you would too.

He walks up, I roll down the window and hold up the ticket. He's like, "oh. so you already know." "yep. had that conversation already tonight."

He was nice enough to let me go without running all of my information again, shortest cop-pull-over ever I'm calling it.

Now I'm back with my big fat cat about to watch some more Blacklist. It's amusing to rewatch them and then count the times you yell "Run Lizzy Run" at the screen. I'm at 5.

So there, that was my Halloween. It made up for the semi-boring days that preceded it.

And now I give you the Spell Block Tango cause I think it's amusing.

Disney plus Chicago, two of my favorite things.

and yes that is Amber Riley.

i'm out!

"Who's that?" "An actress." "A real actress?" "Yes, a real actress!"

Why is it that shampoo and conditioner bottles always run out at different times?

You're using the two together at reasonably the same amount each time, so why does one empty faster than the other?

Or is that just me?

So now I've got an empty conditioner bottle with half a thing of shampoo left. How did that even happen?

I mean, I know I'm bad at math, but it just doesn't make sense.

I think it's the long hair. I need to chop it off.

No, not all of it.

I would die if I chopped off all of it. I could never pull that off.

At some point in grade school I chopped it off to like chin length and hated it so never ever again anything less than shoulder length.

I'm sorry, rambling, I'll stop.

Today was fun, flew by fairly quickly which was weird cause I was dead tired. I don't know if it was the weather or what. Apparently I slept through a massive hail storm in the morning.

Woops.

Car looks fine, didn't even notice.

It was busy on and off but I felt like I barely sat down. When I wasn't helping at the desk I was weeding the youth collection and checking in. Tomorrow is a halfday - huzzah - AND I get to start at the home branch, for a whole like 2 hours, then work branch, then practicum, then date night!

Halloween style.

Which basically means dinner and scary movie night same as last year. I don't remember what we watched last year but I know it was scary at some point but not scary enough for me to remember what it was a year later. I think it had Sandra Bullock in it. I know that really narrows things down.

Hey, I have a blog. I can rewind to things like that.

Be right back.

....
......
....
.....
....

Ah, nevermind, it was a Bond flick. Young Christopher Walken with blonde hair. Bullock must have been a different night. Though it was scary at some point yet not scary enough for me to remember a year later so I was half right.

See, this thing actually is quite handy, who knew?

What are your Halloween traditions?

We talked about this a lot today, I don't really remember trick or treating, I lived on a farm but I know I did it at some point cause I remember being a witch, Simba, Darth Vader and the dude from Scream in grade school - plus Charlie's Angels in high school which is more of a long story.

That's a really weird combination of characters, I'm aware. Sitcom in the making.

Tomorrow should be fun. Last year I wore a Hunger Games shirt, year before that I think it was Batman. This year is up for debate. I have a lot of fun shirts. Maybe I'll do something Star Wars, Warehouse 13 or Leverage...hmmm....

That's all I got for today. Class was interesting, we talked about making libraries welcoming for youth then came up with designs for our dream libraries. It was interesting seeing people attempt to make things on the online chart board. I'm bad at art so I let them do that part I just yelled out the essentials for a teen space. Computers, couches, tv's, video games, music area, possible loft, you know, the usual.

It looked pretty cool by the end there was even a highway surrounding the building but then we ran out of a time and it was lost forever. Sad day.

Okay, now that's really all I got. Finished my homework - practicum paper that took much longer than planned because as mentioned above I suck at math so it took me like 8 times to count up my hours. Ugh.

Still another assignment for Youth Services but it's not due until Sunday so I'm gonna do it Friday night. Should be fun.

Okay, now that's really really all I got.

Music and I'm out.

Knockout Matthew Schuler vs. Will Champlin

i'm sorry but that was epic.

Knockout Caroline Pennell vs George Horga Jr. but ignore the George part

"caroline makes me want to buy a cat..." she had that down perfectly.

I'm rewatching all of the episodes of The Blacklist to do a count of how many times I've screamed the phrase "Run Lizzy Run". So far I'm at 3.

The title's a long story involving Twitter and a famous follower who actually gave me a shoutout tonight after quoting my boss and tagging her. It was amusing.

Okay, now that's really really really all I got.

Look ma, no staples!

So, it's official.

I've joined Pinterest.

Not my fault, Second Sister pushed me into it.

Right after Oldest Sister forced me into joining Instagram.

They're the cool mom's on campus with all the new fancy apps.

Speaking of cool people on campus Mr. BossMan Tom is the cool kid on campus for serious.

We walked across campus today and everyone was greeting him by name - there were even people flagging him down in the parking lot!

That's the kind of librarian I want to be. Someone who is so helpful that people actually remember your name.

Though I could do without the flagging me down in the parking lot aspect, that might be creepy.

Where was I?

Oh yeah, Pinterest. We'll see how it goes. Which reminds me that I should post something to Instagram at some point soon. I always forget and then do like 5 in a row.

Hey it works...

Yes, I am a nerd, but apparently one who needs to brush up on her tech-fads.

Especially if I intend to work with teenagers, that's basically all they do.

And, speaking of teens, I now have 18 of us - 3 of which are adults - that are attending the Catching Fire party. It's so handy having them RSVP for movie tickets, makes planning the afterparty so much easier.

I should do that all the time...

Oh, have I mentioned the epic Catching Fire party upcoming in November? We're gonna go see the movie then come back to the library afterward for themed snackage and obstacles in our 4th floor "arena". It's gonna be wicked.

Did I mention I'm a nerd?

Today was good. Flew by as most half-days do. Got to work with 2 people I never get to...explains the weird weather...and then more supply stuff before heading off to practicum.

Practicum Count-Up is 64/90 December is coming up fast but I should have almost exactly 90 hours by the due date. Actually it'll be like 90:15 or something to that effect. Whatever I'll take it.

After practicum I went out to see the boyfriend. We got supper then watched a few episode of Big Bang Theory - yay TBS - and the last half of Pitch Perfect - yay Fat Amy. or Fat Patricia that is. She's the only one officially signed on to do the sequel but the others are listed as rumored and it's the same writer as the original so I'm hoping it'll all work out.

Especially since that ending was so sudden, they need to start right where they left off.

And that's all I got for today. I'm posting this before watching The Voice cause I knew I wouldn't be able to focus fully on either.

You should take that as a compliment, not a lot can do that when in comparison to the Voice.

Have I mentioned it's awesome and I'm a fan?

Yep nerd.

Alright, on to the music and then I'm out.

Song of the Day: Turn it back Tuesday - 90's

Zoot Suit Riot - Cherry Poppin' Daddies

love the retro vibe of this one, song and video very cool. i know you secretly want that suit.

oh, the staples line is because we have to take staples out of magazines before we can put them out.

something about swallowing them or stabbing something, i don't know.

but there are apparently some magazines without staples, which brings us such joy.

i know, nerd out.

you, you, you oughta knoh-oh

So weird going back to work like a normal person.

It was nice doing things on my own time last week. Now I'm back to getting up early and schedules and you know people and books and stuff.

I was expecting the day to drag but I looked up and it was 4:30 so it wasn't too bad.

Much calmer than the incident reports I came back to.

Madhouse this weekend, kinda glad I missed out on that, but feel bad for them at the same time.

Something to scrapbook for sure.

Today didn't have much to scrapbook. There was a lot of supply stockage and the Little Shelver Boy made a reappearance. Everyone wanted to know all about my exams but since I'm in limbo there's not a lot I can say about them.

Came home and watched The Voice, The Blacklist, Castle, 2 Broke Girls, and Mom in that order.

Why yes, my Monday nights are pathetic, but see this is what happens when the boyfriend is busy. I'm hoping to see him tomorrow so it's not more of the same. Wednesday is class, Thursday will be date night with no excuses and then he leaves for the weekend on Friday so that's when I'll be doing homework.

Yeah, forgot I still had to do that. Even if I do pass comps I still have a few more weeks left of homework before I officially graduate. Which will be an adventure I'm sure.

That's all I got for today. Back to the boredom. You'd think staring at a screen for hours on end would be the boring part but I broke it up with naps.

Naps rock.

So it wasn't completely awful.

Carter has decided it's time for sleep. He's sitting on the couch giving me the death stare. Mostly cause I made him get off my lap so that I could post this.

He's probably thinking, really? You woke me up for this? And why do you always read out loud when you type? Do you even hear yourself?

No. Not really.

So I'm out. Hope you all had rockstar days. It's back to the halfdays tomorrow, huzzah practicum!

Song of the Day:

You Oughta Know - Kat Robichaud/Hit the Road Jack - Monika Leigh

she's a force of nature that one. glad she's in my top five.

Mostly still intact though I did lose Holly but she went up against Nic in his remake of Genie in a Bottle. which was just cool so anyone would have been doomed.

followed that with The Blacklist which is my favorite of the new shows. after every episode i literally just sit there and say "wow that was good" which you can't say about a lot of stuff nowadays.

but i'm a nerd so what do i know?

Alright, I'm out.

"You should be getting flowers, not giving them."

I decided against posting this week as most of them would have been me rambling about my apartment, cat, or staring at a computer screen for 10 hours. So here is your mega post.

It's official. Comps are done.

Celebratory paper throw.

I can now officially leave my apartment and not freak out about it.

Unlike how I felt all week.

Comps were not fun. And a lot harder than I expected them to be. Though I wasn't really sure what to expect.

I went into it thinking the lowest grade I've got on a project is a B and the lowest grade I've got for a class is an A-  (*cough*Library Goddess*cough*...threw off my 4.0) so I can handle this it'll be fine.

Questions were posted at 8, I woke up at 9 and went oh god I'm screwed.

The Cool Aunt and I had this baking analogy where we tied the difficulty level of the question to the difficulty level of a baked good - it ranged from cupcakes to flanby - and the plan was to start with the easy cupcake one and finish with the flanby one.

I emailed her and was like...they're all flanby.

Sketch is secretly laughing right now because she knows that I can't bake so the difficulty level for both of those desserts is actually the same.

Ironically, I ended up doing it in reverse starting with flanby and ending with cupcake.

If you can call it a cupcake, it was still harder than any of my previous assignments.

There's a discussion board tied to each question where we can ask stuff. I'm pretty sure I asked about triple the amount of questions everyone else did because I was just so lost on the first 2 but then once they were explained I had an idea of what I was gonna write about and did it before I lost the motivation.

This was after meeting with my comrades over lunch. Well breakfast. But it was at lunch time.

Is that brunch? My brain has nothing left in it.

We joked about the questions giving one of us a heart attack. I believe the direct quote was "yeah, take one for the team. then they'll make them easier...would you like more butter for those pancakes?"

We were gonna meet later in the week for drinks but it didn't work out schedule-wise. Now the plan is to go out for drinks after we learn we've all passed.

If anything is worth a drink it was this week.

The longest took me 10 hours - that was 10 pages - another took me 7 and I lost count with the other two cause I spread them out over a couple of days while I made changes on my "final" drafts of the others.

I won't post the questions in case they want to re-use them at some point but one was on technology, another was on group development, another was on collaboration and then the monster 10 hour one was on continuing education.

The funny part about that one is that BossLady (to make sure they made sense) and Oldest Sister (to check for grammar and to make sure they made sense) looked them over for me and after I sent the first one BossLady tracked me down at work and said that I made more CE plans in a day than she had in the years she's been there so she will now delegate that all to me.

I went, um, no...but thanks?

The only breaks I gave myself were to do something else productive.

I've never been so caught up on laundry and my closet has never been this clean.

Amazing what you can accomplish when you're avoiding something else.

I kept second guessing myself and changing stuff so I finally just ended up posting them on Saturday a day early before I could talk myself out of it.

Now they're out of my hands.

Got the confirmation email saying they should be graded by Friday so now I wait.

In limbo.

I hate limbo.

If I pass all I have left are practicum and youth services which both end in December. If I fail even one I have to retake next semester.

No pressure.

But, being done Saturday meant I got to watch the Husker game...ugh...and then go out to the farm to help Mom.

Oh, did I mention that Mom decided we needed yet another experience with white walls and sterilized equipment so she fell out of a tractor and busted her knee?

I bought her flowers, that's where the title comes from, some random dude said it and walked away.

I spent the day cleaning and mowing. My cousin or second cousin or once removed or something like that is coming to help farm.

Kind of random and out of the blue as I haven't seen him in years, but welcome nonetheless.

After that I stopped by to see the boyfriend. We watched No Country for Old Men.

He had to explain a lot of it to me, but it was pretty good.

Same with Donnie Brasco which we watched yesterday.

I'm giving them both a 6/10 on the Scale of Awesome.

That was basically the only time I saw him all week. Except for the one night I took off, we got dinner and watched some TV. I think it was Office Space and something else, I can't remember this week was all a blur.

Oh and we saw Bad Grandpa also yesterday.

Scarred for life but he seemed to like it.

What is it with boys and Jackass humor?

Anyway, so now I'm done and it's back to work tomorrow.

Here's my music rec before I crash.

Smooth Criminal - Glee cast Santana and Sebastian

apparently i'm way behind cause i have no idea who the guy is.

out!

Friday, October 18, 2013

They're not here to fish.

So, this is my last post before I go off the radar for a week.

You may hear from me at some point but there are no guarantees.

Today was crazy, I started at the home branch where I got to work with the Queen of Awesome. We had fun as always, but it was the calm before the storm cause once I got to the work branch I was running all over the place trying to do supplies stuff, volunteer stuff, TAB stuff, and regular circ stuff just so that it was all done and set for the next week. The New Guy's got my back for supplies, Bosslady is good with the volunteers, I can check my email for TAB stuff if needed and they can handle the rest.

I'm really not looking forward to tomorrow, aka the beginning of Comprehensive Exams. I have a week to write 24 pages, if I fail I have to wait to retake them next semester.

Joy.

I think I'm psyching myself out. It's the not knowing what the questions will be that makes me nervous. I'm hoping that once I get them I'll be able to gauge how long they're going to take me.

But! I have my comrades who I'm meeting up with Sunday afternoon. We found a place with wifi and coffee and breakfast all day, huzzah! oh and pie too which is always good. So we may be camped out there for a while. That calms my nerves a bit, especially since we'll be meeting later in the week as well to make sure no one is flailing.

Here's my plan for the week:
Saturday - questions arrive in the AM, plan on coming up with outlines and finding resources
Sunday - church then meet with comrades to brainstorm
Monday - write all day
Tuesday - work/practicum/write more
Wednesday - write all day
Thursday - work/practicum/write more
Friday - write all day
Saturday - write all day
Sunday - church then final edits then submit them then family pictures

That's the rough draft schedule. I'm hoping to see my boyfriend at some point before Sunday. Girlscout says I'll need to take breaks just to keep functioning so that sounds promising. I'm thinking I'll send what I have to Bosslady and Oldest Sister by Friday - they have graciously said they would look them over just to make sure they make sense. It would be nice to be done early and then I'd have time to go back and edit them without all the deadline pressure BUT without knowing what the questions are I have no way of knowing how long they will take me.

See where the stress comes in?

But that's okay, as stressful as today was at work and as stressful as tomorrow will be tonight was really nice.

Went out to eat with the boyfriend then went to see Captain Phillips.

You get used to the accent.

While Gravity bored me - I know, you're still booing me - this one was totally opposite. Was on the edge of my seat the whole movie. Scale of Awesome says 8/10. Similar to Zero Dark Thirty it's not something I'd watch again but it was definitely worth it the first time.

The boyfriend is really sweet, tonight especially. He told me to focus on my school stuff and that if I had time we would hang out. He does have plenty of projects to work on - maybe both of us will actually finish something this week. But he has a point if I pass these, finish my practicum by December 1st and get at least a B in Youth Services I will graduate in December and be done with homework eternally.

Then we'll have all the time in the world. Unless he gets switched to second, then that's a different story.

Song of the Day: Flashback Friday

Bitter Sweet Symphony - The Verve

Alright, I'm zenned out now. Came home to a nice card and coffee giftcard from the Cool Aunt. She rocks and she knows how much coffee I'll be drinking this week.

So to sum up, I like you all, I think you are all awesome rockstar people, however if you try to get in a touch with me this week and I don't respond don't be offended, I just want to be able to turn off my phone and get this over with.

Hope you all have rockstar weeks.

Houston, I have a bad feeling about this mission.

Today's Top Stories:

-Staff meeting in the morning - we're supposed to start saying yes to things. Even if it's not how we were trained.

-One aide leaves and a prodigal one returns and may end up sticking around for a while.

-Grilled chicken sandwich for lunch from the place across the street - I should get frequent flyer miles - they all know me and the dude was so excited I'm back to wearing my awesome winter hats.

-More fun practicum in the afternoon - Practicum Count-Up 54:30/90 - where I ran into my comps comrade (of all places) and we confirmed plans for Sunday. We're thinking breakfast for lunch cause they have free wifi. Huzzah.

-Second Sister called and tried to get me to join pinterest. Maybe after comps week.

-Gravity with the boyfriend.

I may be the only one on the planet to say I was bored. I love Sandra Bullock I do, and she was great in it, very convincing, but I kept screaming at her in my head to do things and she didn't do them so it made it really hard for me to like the movie. Scale of Awesome says 5/10. I know you're all booing me. I'm sorry.

-To Walmart we go, picked up The Heat while he had keys made. I know, we're super exciting people. Oh and I got cat food too.

-Napoleon Dynamite with the boyfriend.

Yes that does reverse itself in the middle.

Sadly, there was a time when myself and my friends learned the dance - at my birthday party I feel like it was 16th maybe - and taped it.

No you cannot see it, they'd kill me.

-He went to work, I came back here, the cat likes his new food so I'm out.

-Tomorrow: Home branch in the morning, work branch after that, last day until Tuesday since it's comps week.

Listen to the Music - Doobie Brothers

classic. that's all i got.

Wednesday, October 16, 2013

She's choppin' broccoli.

So apparently I'm uncultured because I didn't know Dana Carvey enjoyed watching women chop broccoli.

Fortunately, I have siblings who teach me these things.

Here's what I learned today.

We frequently text random things back and forth and the majority of them between the sisters are lyrics.

Mostly Troll Doll ones, but others are included as well.

And then you've got my brother who is overloaded by all this randomness and says something to the effect of "stop making my phone beep."

To which Oldest Sister replied "beep" about 10 times in 2 minutes.

It was rather amusing.

It was just a really random day. Got that text. Then there's this patron who decided to throw a huge temper tantrum when she got caught breaking the rules, but then again I threw my own when my favorite aide decided today was her last day and fist bumped me on the way out the door.

We're losing all the good ones.

Then, I get home and check my email to find a message from one of my college professors checking in on me. I haven't heard from her in years.

As much as I hated that place the teachers did actually care.

They should put that on a business card.

I'm sorry, that's awful.

But anyway, she wrote me a recommendation letter along with three others there and she still cares to check in. It's nice. Speaking of, I should write a letter to the one I correspond with regularly, I'm way behind on that.

After that randomness it was time for online class where we talked about getting library jobs - which I already have so... but it was a good review and there was other stuff too - then I finished my practicum stuff and uploaded that, oh the correct Practicum Count-Up is actually 51:30/90 cause that includes the after hours stuff, looked over Comps sources and made plans with my comrades to meet up.

We're all freaked cause this is a make or break exam so we're gonna meet up and go over sources and ideas on Sunday and then again later in the week to make sure everything makes sense.

The goal is to stop the flailing.

I guess in this circumstance you can't stop all the flailing but our goal is to limit the flailage so that we're able to focus and pass these damn tests and be done with homework eternally!

You know, after we finish the semester.

We haven't picked a spot yet but we've decided that coffee is essential.

Any suggestions on the south side of town?

That's all I got for today. Tomorrow's a staff meeting so I should probably crash soon.

On to the music:

Domino - Grey vs. Nic Hawk

Grey is one of my favorites but I'm glad Nic got saved. He was number 21 on my top 20.

Legitimate pre-midnight post, holy crap tag in use.

with a little bit of luck i can find me a girl with a truck, yeah!

dangit, it's back in my head again.

Tuesday, October 15, 2013

You're some kind of wonderful.

Oh my god, so I checked out This Is The End because I wanted to see Emma Watson go nuts with an ax but her appearance left me with one question.

What the hell was she doing in that movie?

It was AWFUL!

She has better taste than that!

Scale of Awesome says 2/10. The last movie we watched that bad was Paperboy and I feel like this was even worse.

It reminded me of Your Highness which was equally as bad and that's because it's made by the same people.

I have no enthusiasm to watch Pineapple Express at all now - not that I really did before.

Sorry rant.

I should be focused on the fact that my boyfriend is back - huzzah! - and that I'm burning through Practicum Hours. Practicum Count-Up 50/90 though there's more if I count the afterhours stuff which today he said does count. It's mostly uploading data but I also get to work on more signage this week which is highly entertaining.

Today was good, slept in an hour - huzzah! - went to work for 3 then practicum for 3 more. The libraries are really picking up speed, especially in the men's building which is very exciting.

After all that the boyfriend came up. Attempted to not be a girl and all emotional about his return - it had been a week - but you know how long that lasts. Glad he's back and since next week is comps I'm hoping to see him as much as possible before I go off the radar.

And that's all I got. We watched that horrible horrible horrible movie and then attempted to scrub it from our brains by turning on some Whose Line Is It Anyway. It worked. Mostly. Until I started posting and watched the preview.

So I'm just going to logoff altogether and attempt to wipe it all out with Elementary. Which I love.

On to the music.

Yes, it's Tuesday which means it's more Voice. I know, you're so excited. Here's my favorite from tonight's Voice battles.

Some Kind of Wonderful - Monika Leigh vs Ray Boudreaux

While Monika is higher on my list Ray definitely deserved that one. I bought both versions on iTunes.

Here's my Top 20 after tonight's eliminations.

Red - Adam
Pink - Xtina
Green - Blake
Grey - CeeLo

Tessanne Chin – Defeated Donna in battles
Matthew Schuler - Defeated Jacob in battles
Holly Henry
Kat Robichaud - Defeated R. Anthony in battles
Grey – Defeated Nic in battles

Brandon Chase
Michael Lynch
Timyra Joi - ELIMINATED in battles
Briana Cuoco - Lost battle, stolen by Blake
Jacquie Lee – Defeated Briana in battle

Shelbie Z – Defeated Justin in battles
James Wolpert

Josh Logan
Caroline Pennel – Defeated Anthony in battles
Johnny Gray
Olivia Henken
Ray Bourdeaux – Defeated Monika in battles

And that's all I got. Hope you had a good one.

Might be the equivalent of you falling on your ass and landing in a pile of Christmas.

I'm sorry, but that's the best line ever.

Go Blacklist! Really loving this show, definitely my favorite of the new lineup and I'm glad the ratings agree.

The rest can die, except the Crazy Ones which has its moments, and Back in the Game cause it's entertaining. Think Trophy Wife is already on its way out, but really it had no chance.

So today was dead.

Literally, I don't know if it was the holiday or the weather but I was on the front desk by myself for two hours in a row and I think I helped maybe 5 people total. The majority of my stuff came over the phone or people running in right before we closed. Which makes the rest of the day really boring. Especially when there's nothing TAB-related to do cause I've done it all already.

But at least tonight was fun. Watched The Voice battles, some pretty good ones so far I only lost one of my top 20, then Blacklist obviously, then it was on to Castle - glad she's back, and 2 Broke Girls - "This thing hates women so much we should call it Texas!"

See what happens when my boyfriend's away?

I go back to being boring.

Which actually is okay at the moment because next week is really gonna suck so I should enjoy the laziness while I can.

It's Comps.

I'm freaked.

Everyone is all like, you'll pass don't worry about it, but see they're not your average papers. If I fail even one out of four I don't graduate, I have to retake it next semester.

So Superwoman and Oldest Sister have agreed to proofread them. I'm hoping because I'm taking basically the whole week off that I will finish early and then they'll have time to look them over and I'll have time to edit them without it feeling all crammed for time.

I get them Saturday morning and they're due the next Sunday at 6PM. I'm meeting my classmates the first Sunday to brainstorm which makes me have less anxiety knowing that they're going through the same thing and we can figure out what the questions actually mean instead of worrying about misinterpretation.

I'm going to have to figure out a schedule and stick to it.

That's my weakness, time management, but this is basically a life or death thing so I'll attempt to sort out my priorities.

That's all I got for today. Boring, I know, but it was relaxing and tomorrow I only go in from 10-1 so I even get to sleep in!

Gotta finish up some practicum stuff and then I'm off to bed.

One of the good ones from tonight and one of my favorite songs of all time.

House of the Rising Sun - Briana vs. Jacquie

yes that is who you think it is. i love that adam sides with cee-lo to the point of yelling. i'm so excited.

Cause she thinks she's the passionate one.

From a day of absolute un-normalcy to one semi-normal.

Okay, not really, but not as wacked out weird as yesterday.

Today was church, football, video games, homework, and DVR.

Bubby's last football game of the season - the championship - and halfway through he got injured.

Laid there for a while, Squirt freaked, brother-in-law joked about the medics tending to him saying that means at least 5 minutes on the bench.

He's fine now, needs to visit the dentist tomorrow though.

He was bummed cause after an undefeated season they lost 6-0 so Squirt and I distracted him with video games.

It's the same game that the boyfriend and his friends are always playing and that I got my brother for Christmas.

There's this zombie mode where you basically stay alive as long as possible and that's it.

I suck so I just stand in a corner and shoot things if they come at me.

And I die frequently so apparently not only am I sad and pathetic but I'm sad, pathetic, and have no aim.

There was one point where I was both on fire and zombies were eating my face at the same time.

After the video games came homework. Halfway done with the assignment due end of next week but can't finish it until after I do some field research first. Trying to get as much done before comps week.

Which by the way starts on Saturday.

I'm really not thrilled. But I have the week off - well most of it - to work on them so I'm hoping to finish early or at least be able to space them out so I don't lose all sanity, or whatever I have left that is.

After the homework I attempted to clear out some of my DVR. Caught up on The Crazy Ones and Iron Chef. Now I'm re-watching The Blacklist cause it's my new favorite. I'm putting off watching NCIS cause I know she leaves and I like to pretend everyone is happy and together. But tomorrow I'll get to distract myself with the battle rounds for The Voice. Interested to see how many of my top 20 get eliminated.

And that was my day. Looking forward to my boyfriend coming back tomorrow. Hoping to see him as much as possible before I go off the radar for comps week.

And that's all I got.

Hope you all had rockstar weekends.

Ballroom Blitz - Sweet

excellent jam song.

What does the fox say?

Today was just a weirdass day.

For serious.

Took my cough medicine in the morning, so that may explain some of it but not all of it.

Only scheduled to work from 1:30-4:30.

Spent those three hours creating crafty stuff out of paper mache with the one teen that showed up.

We attempted to make a tiger but it turned out all lumpy so we tossed the body, kept the head and attempted something else.

That didn't work out either.

I'm not crafty.

Decided to stay over at the farmhouse, pull up and see this out front.

Festive, until I looked closer.

Not sure what's scarier - the dude or the rusty blade he's holding.

I dumped my stuff then headed over to help Favorite Sister-In-Law with her homework.

Research stuff, I do it for a living.

Went back to the farmhouse after, turn on the lights, saw this and screamed.

Thank god he left the blades outside otherwise I would have made a run for it.

Mom didn't believe they had blades until Dad confirmed it. He calls them the "Happy Reapers".

So I post about it on Facebook and Info-man posts about them waiting for me to go to sleep.

Not cool by the way, gonna have nightmares.

And mom thinks is hilarious so she's laughing.

I'm sure dad brought them in on purpose, it's ridiculous. They're on the couch across from me and I feel like at any moment they're gonna turn their heads. Every two minutes I look up just to make sure they're still frozen in the same position.

Watch I'll wake up and they'll be in my room.

Anyway, the weirdness continues as I download song #60 for dad's iPod. Every time I come home he has lists of new songs he wants.

This week's list ranges from The Who to Connie Francis.

Yeah I don't know who she is either.

So here I sit, waiting as they download, watching some Big Bang Theory.

Episode #4. Sheldon's jealous that Stuart asked out Amy. One of my favorite scenes of all time coming up inside the movie theater.

This is after I finished both the Husker game and SNL.

Did I mention it was a big list?

On to the music.

Okay, prepare for the ridiculous. Even moreso than this post.

The Fox - Ylvis

so everyone was commenting about this damn song and i knew nothing about it until favorite sister-in-law played me the today show clip of them performing it live.

ps - in the today show live performance there is a group of old women jumping up and down screaming out the lyrics.

for serious.

and i'm out.

NLA Conference 2013 - Truck Yeah!

It is official. We survived. But now I'm zonked.

The day went a little something like this.

Woke up at 4:30. Got all dressed up.

Yes, makeup was included.

Yes, my hair was down.

No, I didn't wear the boots.

Met up with the Queen of the Known Universe and the New Guy and left around 5:10 in our awesome truck.

Photo: The Babe Wagon.

Photo courtesy of the Queen herself.

I brought my music adapter so we could plug in our playlists. It was mostly country - by the Queen and I - with some oldies thrown in by the New Guy. It was actually amusing though because she turned on the truck when the New Guy pulled in the parking lot and She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy came on the radio so we blasted it and were singing like maniacs. Pretty sure it weirded the hell out of him.

It was a fun start to an amusing ride.

So we're on our way, and we decide to stop at McDonald's for coffee. And we thought we knew where it was but again, it's dark and we're more interested in our playlists than the road so we drove right past it without noticing. We actually ended up stopping at the Starbucks in my boyfriend's town.

That was approximately 5:55 AM.

Got my chai tea latte, the New Guy got some juice and we were on our way.

Was a fairly fast drive, and we found the place on the first try...sort of. I mean, we had to make a u-turn but after that it was smooth sailing.

I mean, technically it was the second u-turn of the day, but still smooth sailing.

The place was super fancy.

Photo: Fancy

Yes, apparently I am one of those people.

Learned a lot throughout the day so that was good.

In the morning they did this demo with a 3D printer and some other cool gadgets. They actually showed us this webpage with a bunch of failed print jobs, it was highly entertaining. Superwoman and the Boss's Boss's Boss's Assistant were right in front of me and thought perhaps we could get one with a grant.

I'm gonna keep bugging them until we do, my teens would love it.

Unless of course it's me that has to submit the paperwork, then I'll have to think about it.

The next session was more fun gadgetry - Raspberry Pi and Arduino - want those, they are sweet.

After that we took a break to check out the booths. The New Guy and I went through and grabbed a bunch of free stuff - creepy cat bags included - and took pictures with the cast of the Big Bang Theory.

The cardboard version.

Last year they just had Sheldon, this year they had the whole cast, it was awesome.

Got a hug from the Library Goddess and caught up with a bunch of fun GA friends before I was forced into a picture with what seemed like half my class and two of the Mizzou professors.

Guess which newsletter that's going into. Yep. That's right. The one I used to be in charge of.

And had to scramble to find pictures for.

NLA season was easy though, there was plenty to work with. It was the off-season that makes you flail.

After the picture I escaped to learn about new online tools to use at the library. That one was packed, it should've been in a bigger room, but how can you tell really what's gonna be popular and what's not beforehand? Sat by the Queen, made colorful commentary and then we were off for lunch.

Also got lost on the way there, but that wasn't our fault. Google maps and GPS had it wrong. The Queen ended up getting out and asking the gas station attendant where it was. I was glad we decided to take the truck. We could have walked but we would have just ended up walking in circles for even longer.

Carlos O'Kellys, had fajitas. They were awesome and I couldn't finish them.

We stalled a bit before heading back but made it before the keynote speaker had started. We actually sat against the back wall, also highly enjoyable.

She was really good. I wasn't expecting her to be good, I was kind of dreading it actually. Keynotes can drag on if you don't have the right speaker. But she was funny, which I also wasn't expecting. She was in politics and from the title it sounded like it was gonna be all about government stuff, but it wasn't about the shutdown at all.

Though she did reference it once or twice for comedy. We mostly talked about advocacy and what it can do for our libraries.

She did bring up a lot of amusing stuff. Apparently they did this survey about what was more popular than congress. One of these things is not like the other, name the item you think is less popular than congress:

Cockroaches
Ebola
Lindsey Lohan
France

It's France. Strangely cockroaches, Ebola and Lindsey are all more popular than congress but for some reason we take issue with France.

Makes perfect sense, right?

We also learned a lot about rat poison and bars. Two separate stories, neither were hers.

After the keynote I listened to current and past library students talk about the program. I enjoy sitting sidelines and making colorful commentary as I'm going through it as well. It's always fun to hear what they have to say. We were missing a major element to that equation though, the Authentically Amazing One and Only KB so it could have been even better. Had to take a picture next to an empty chair to photoshop her in.

Last session of the day was about technology in special libraries.

I went for two reasons: 1 because I'm doing my practicum at a special library, but mostly 2 because I wanted to make faces at the presenters who just happened to be some of my cool classmates.

The whole event felt like some weird family reunion, I kept running into classmates and old professors. It was good to see them all again.

That was the last session of the day so after even more pictures we hit the road to head back in our cool truck.

Here are a few of my favorites quotes from the day:

Me: "She has excellent taste in music."
Queen: "I wish I knew her before the accident."
if we were in an accident the medics would see our stack of awesome CDs to choose from.

Me: "I like his pink hair, he's like the anti-president."
seriously, our nebraska library association president has pink hair. he's awesome.

Speaker: "I know I look young, but I have 25 years of experience....yesterday was my birthday. I turned 30."
cool, hey wait...

Speaker: "I got a Master's in Legislative Affairs, it's not what it sounds like."
Queen: "I bet the field research would be fun."
more colorful commentary from the back row.

"Rat poison, we hate it when kids lick it."
that's always a good thing to say when asking for funding.

"I, state your name here."
"I, state your name here."
"That's the first time that's happened."
see, librarians can have a sense of humor. shocked the politician.

"Gotta find that damn McDonald's."
and we did!

The last one is my favorite, the Queen and her daughter had a conversation earlier about birds that sit on the telephone wires and if they can listen in to conversations.
Me: Damn government birds.

And that was my day. Here are a couple of songs that made our playlists:

Truck Yeah - Tim McGraw

this was our theme song. it was both the first and last song played during our drive - sexy tractors didn't count as we were still stationary.

yes that is garrett hedlund in case you were wondering.

Pickup Man - Joe Diffie

see, I liked Joe Diffie before Jason Aldean came around and sang about him. just throwing that out there.

sorry. not a fan.

So that was NLA 2013. For previous years go here:

Single white female looking for a man like you.

Do you ever feel like people are becoming too creative with their license plates?

Like today I was driving behind a car with one that said I CRE8

That's great, congratulations, you create what exactly? And why are you putting it on your license plate?

Granted this is coming from someone who just suggested we make homemade license plates that say BABEWGN to cover the Iowa plates on our rental so feel free to ignore my thoughts on this subject.

That's right the big day is tomorrow!

NLA - the Nebraska Library Association conference also known as the GNC - Glorified Nerd Convention.

Green bags and nametags all around.

We're nerds, but it's okay, we own it. I love it.

Meeting up with the Queen of the Known Universe and the New Guy at 5AM so we can be there before 8 which means I'm waking up at 4:30.

Clearly the Queen is driving, anything before 8 for me is questionable, I'm not sure about the New Guy. And since she's driving she rented a pickup truck cause it gave her an excuse to rent one - she has a slight obsession.

Earlier this month the New Guy dubbed it the "Babe Wagon" because we kept getting hit on that week. Now he has joined our carpool crew so he is a babe as well.

We need one of those yard sticks like they have at the amusement parks.

"You must be *this* sexy to ride."

My friends all laughed when I told them I was going to bed at 9.

Mostly because they know me. For me it's almost impossible to go to bed before 10PM. Actually I rarely go to bed before 1AM.

It just doesn't work so I'm gonna have to turn on something especially boring.

The only problem is that I don't own anything especially boring.

Maybe the Addams Family.

I'm sorry, I hated the original movie but I really liked the sequel Family Values.

For most people that's backwards.

But waking up tomorrow at 4:30 is gonna be weird enough without waking up to the home page of the Addams Family DVD on my screen so I'll pass on that one.

Last time I remember waking up that early on purpose was back in college. I used to help Oldest Sister with her craft shows and she did some in the Haymarket on the weekends. We would have to be down there by like 6 and usually I stayed over with her but this one time I actually drove and met her there. I woke up at 4:30 in the dorms and walked to the bathroom and one of my hallmates was just getting back and was getting ready for bed. I was jealous.

Not of the fact that she was out that late, but of the fact that she got to go to sleep at that moment in time.

As you've noticed I'm really not a morning person.

So, that being said, it is now 9:00 I'm going to post this, charge my phone and iPod, and find something boring to watch. I've already got my clothes and breakfast laid out. Bag is packed, taking a book along just in case. Think I'm good.

Song of the Day:

I keep singing Royals - that one I posted a couple of days ago by Lorde - and humming it around the library. It's driving me nuts because originally I really didn't like it at all. Now it's grown on me. But I can't post that cause I already did so since tomorrow's drive is going to be country-filled tonight you're gonna get some retro country.

Single White Female - Chely Wright

i do have to laugh when i hear this song. ironic coming from her now.

And I'm out. Legitimate pre-midnight post, holy crap tag in use.

Here are last year's conference notes - I went both days cause I was a GA - and also one from the year before that so you'll understand when I say Glorified Nerd Convention I actually mean Glorified Nerd Convention.

2011 Green Bags and Nametags
2012 Day One - the Full Monica
2012 Day Two - Fake it 'til you make it

Tuesday, October 8, 2013

"Calm down you maniac I'm parenting!" "The good ones can do it and open the door at the same time!"

It's so nice to be able to do homework and cheer for Squirt all at the same time.

Game night, she rocked it.

Starter on JV for a Class A team and all that.

I had to laugh cause I'm pretty sure they'd kick the ass of the varsity team at my old high school. Super competitive program and I can see why from the results.

But, not only did I cheer - though not as loud and enthusiastically as her mother - but I also took notes for a homework assignment due Sunday.

It's the whole 2 birds thing.

It's for Youth Services we're doing some sort of youth analysis project where we have to go to 5 places and observe youth then write up notes about it. I have 2 down, 1 more tomorrow at the meeting and then I'm not sure about the other 2 - but they're not due until next Sunday. I'm thinking a movie theater or the mall.

Something different.

It's amusing because there's only 1 guy in our class and when explaining the assignment the professor told the guy he would probably have to explain to the parents why he was sitting in the corner staring at their children.

Cause with a woman it doesn't seem as creepy.

Even though technically it is an equal amount of creepiness.

That's all I got for today. But my Practicum Count-up is at 47/90.

I think. I'll count better later.

Holy crap, Lester is on the new Sean P. Hayes show.

But he's not the same without Jeff so they'll need him to guest star.

Maybe work in the mail room.

I like that the chick from Smashed is in it.

Or was it Smash.

Either way I didn't watch it.

But apparently noone else did either as it got cancelled.

Hey it had Debra Messing in it.

I wonder if she's ever worked with Eric McCormack or Megan Mullally...

That's all I got for today.

On to the music.

I finished my Voice Top 20.

Xtina is looking the strongest but of course Adam has my number one pick.

Tessanne Chin – Adam
Matthew Schuler - Xtina
Holly Henry – Blake
Kat Robichaud – CeeLo
Grey – Adam

Brandon Chase - Blake
Michael Lynch - Xtina
Timyra Joi - Xtina
Briana Cuoco – Xtina
Jacquie Lee – Xtina

Tamara Chauniece – CeeLo
Ashley Dubose - Adam
Monika Leigh - Blake
Shelbie Z – Blake
James Wolpert – Adam

Josh Logan – Xtina
Caroline Pennel – CeeLo
Johnny Gray – CeeLo
Olivia Henken - Xtina
Ray Bourdeaux – Blake

Here are the first three.

Tessanne Chin - Try

i picked her as my number one because she was the best in the blinds hands down. totally blew me away and i think she could pull it off this year.

plus i love her accent. and that you can't tell she has one when she sings.

Matthew Schuler - Cough Syrup

really not a fan of the song but i am of his. first time the coaches have all turned simultaneously like that.

pure madness.

Holly Henry - The Scientist

love her voice but my favorite part about this video is her brother. voice kind of reminds me of caroline glaser from last year and someone else on the show who i can't place.

plus she looks like my cousin with blonde hair and it's freaking me out.

All I got for tonight. Hope you had a rockstar solid wickedly awesome day.

"I can't speak Spanish. I can't dance the salsa." "I did a 360 for you!"

Today was fun. Spent the morning at the work branch and the afternoon at the home branch.

It made the day fly by fairly quickly.

After work I went grocery shopping for the first time in weeks, cleaned my apartment and talked to Sketch.

For like 2 hours. Whilst shopping and then unloading the car. I plugged in my headphones and put the phone in my pocket so she had to do all the talking.

She probably likes it better that way.

Watched the Voice, did some homework, now I'm exhausted and headed to bed.

Hope your day was as rockstar as mine was.

Here are two of my favorites from tonight.

Bailamos - Michael Lynch

love his shakira impression.

"i can't speak spanish. i can't dance the salsa."

really thinking xtina is gonna win it this year for real.

Catch My Breath - Grey

i'm sorry but that's hilarious. "i did a 360 for you!" poor blake.

finishing up my top 20, will post it before battles begin.

i know, i have almost nothing to post about when it's not date night. i'm boring like that. but i did get to jam with my boss for a while talking about my fear of needles and blood, and this morning i did yet another display so it was eventful even though this post suggests otherwise.

Sunday, October 6, 2013

"Is that your dad?" "No it's not my dad." "I think it's your dad." "It's not my dad." *see mom through window* "Okay, maybe it's my dad."

So I went out to see the boyfriend after work tonight and we went out to eat and pull into the parking lot and we're walking to the restaurant and we see this guy leaving the restaurant and he's like "is that your dad?"

And I'm like no.

He then spent the next thirty seconds trying to convince me that that was my dad while I spent the next thirty seconds stating it was not and then we walk into the restaurant and there's my mom.

Okay fine. It was my dad.

To be fair it was dark, he was walking in a different direction and it's not like you can just yell out "dad" to see if he'd turn around.

Cause what if he was in fact a dad, but not my dad, and then he turned around expecting his own child which I am clearly not? That would be awkward.

Though it wouldn't matter anyway because my dad is half deaf so he wouldn't have heard it.

But it was, and of course they just happened to have his iPod in hand so I got to give even more lessons on how to run it.

See, an iPod for dad seemed like such a good idea for a present. Little did I know that I would be the one stuck teaching him how to use it, and not only teaching him at home but also in the middle of an Applebee's parking lot in 50 degree weather.

My brother lives half a mile away and he knows all this stuff. He says he knows nothing but I know that's crap cause his wife owns one.

But it was fate really, we could have gone anywhere else, at any time tonight.

The boyfriend thinks they planned this somehow cause they were so casual about it. And just happened to have the iPod in the car.

Apparently my parents are more casual about things than his parents are.

And speaking of my parents the boyfriend and I watched Duck Dynasty tonight which is another one of my dad's shows. This one mom actually likes. It's not awful but I don't need another Swamp People.

Before all that was work. Lots of stats today since there were only 4 of us, but they seemed to come in groups.

Between groups I cleaned cause it was gross and cluttered and I was bored.

Did a bunch of dusting and organizing drawers and all that. Even brought out that dust buster and was able to rehang it without breaking it so I'm calling it a victory.

Tomorrow will be more of the same. Work then hopefully another date night with the boyfriend since he's going out of town next week. Plus I want to see him as much as possible before he gets switched to second.

Which we're both so thrilled about.

Can you tell that was sarcasm.

I can't really inject that into writing without some sort of special punctuation.

But there is no special punctuation for sarcasm so I had to explain that I'm not actually so thrilled about him moving to second as I will never see him.

Though it did bring up the topic of marriage again tonight at dinner.

Actually it got super serious and was all about the wedding and all that.

At some point in the past year he told his mother about the Luxor chapel in Vegas and that we almost got married there and now she thinks we're having a destination wedding which she would not approve of.

And of course that makes him bring it up even more.

I never really thought about that as an option before Vegas. So I don't know if I want that or a church service and neither does he.

But I guess we have time to decide.

He still has 3 years to ask me according to the verbal contract I agreed to 2 years ago when we got together.

Genius move there.

But it's not like I'm going somewhere so it doesn't really matter.

Alright, I should crash. More work tomorrow.

Songs of the Day:

Both played tonight at supper.

Friends in Low Places - Garth Brooks

you don't often see singers act out what they're actually singing on music award shows. it's usually all dancers and flashing lights.

okay, nevermind here come the dancers.

Put a Girl in it - Brooks and Dunn

didn't realize they attempted a comeback. really like their old stuff but this is good too.

Saturday, October 5, 2013

They want a rodeo and 2 pound steaks.

I know, I've been crappy at posting this week but I'm back with a vengeance.

FRIDAY

Slept in. It was awesome. Then went over to Oldest Sister's house to pick up Mom for the walk. We walked 2 miles for the Mental Health Awareness thing at my practicum site. Got t-shirts and granola bars and all that, it was pretty fun.

Though last week Mom was one of those 80 million people you see hobbling around with a boot so now that the boot was removed I was afraid she was gonna keel over in pain at any moment.

But she made it the whole 2 miles.

And it was her choice to do the 2 miles instead of the campus walk so she can't blame me for anything.

Aside from waiting in line for 2 hours for food that never came it was a good morning.

Long story.

After that I went back to the apartment and took a nap.

For like 10 minutes before Oldest Sister texted and asked if I could pick up Bubby from school.

Another one of those flash forward moments. Do I go inside? Am I supposed to wait in the car? Thankfully 2 minutes after I decided to stay in the car they all walked out so I chose correctly.

After school I took him to his volleyball tournament where they won both games.

It was amusing though because it was a triangular and the other two teams had all these tiny tiny kids and then our team had three 8th grade boys who just dominated.

They served underhand the first game, but it was no mercy overhand for the second game.

I knew a few of the kids from camp, and then ran into a bunch of their parents so we talked for a while.

Since Oldest Sister and my brother-in-law were present - he was the coach - I took off to go do some homework.

SATURDAY

I'm on a bagel kick so I had a french toast bagel for breakfast with some honey nut cream cheese, as mentioned bagel kick so I've got many flavors, and then headed to the home branch for the day. Was interesting because we actually had a crowd as opposed to the work branch which I'm sure was empty for the majority of the day due to our proximity to the game.

Which is why my coworkers hate Husker football. But I love it so I was stoked that we won.

After the game I headed out to see the boyfriend. We went out to eat and then went to see The Family.

Scale of Awesome says 8/10, I really liked it. A lot of humor but it ended pretty serious. Really good casting. Michelle Pfeiffer was my favorite, that supermarket thing was hilarious.

Don't piss off that family, seriously.

Song of the Day:

Wrapped up in You - Josh Wyatt cover

Put the bunny back in the box.

Define irony. Bunch of idiots dancing on a plane to a song made famous by a band that died in a plane crash.

Watched Con Air tonight with the boyfriend.

Scale of Awesome puts it at 7/10. I'd never seen it before but it was wildly entertaining. Especially the cast. Huge amount of big names in that one.

Granted at that time they probably weren't as big of stars as they are today.

Before the movie was practicum, before that was work. I think. I don't remember it which is both good and bad.

Good cause that means nothing bad happened, bad because it means nothing good happened either.

Don't remember much of yesterday either, I spent the majority of it sleeping on the couch cause I felt like crap.

But tomorrow will be fun. Have the day off and the only thing on my schedule is a Mental Health Awareness Walk at the practicum site with Mom. And hopefully I'll see my boyfriend at some point.

Yes, I'm aware I'm boring tonight but I'm distracted by Leverage. Got the final season and started it tonight. Even though I've seen them all I still don't remember everything.

Clip of the Day:

Huzzah amusingness.

Tonight was ridiculous with storms. Even after the boyfriend left for work I stuck around his place until they cleared off. Thinking about getting a garage. Would probably be helpful in snow season anyway.
