Li-la-la-li-li-life is sweet.

Five heart attacks this season, seriously.

What is up with these come from behind victories?

I thought Minnesota got us passed that?!

Better pick it up for the championship cause you know Wisconsin's ticked we beat them the same way.

And I could rant and ramble about how much we should have smoked Iowa but really all anybody cares about - aside from the fact that we won - is that REX IS BACK!!

So we will dominate next week.

Calling it.

Anyway, it was good to have a distraction whilst watching the game cause I told Mom I would put up her trees.

Yes, trees.

It could just be tree but I'm stubborn like that.

So I did the tree in the north room while watching the second half - that one's all white lights with gold and red ornaments. Then the living room one after the game - that one's colored lights with a mix of random ass ornaments that have been collected over the past like 60 years.

Most of them being crafts and stuff we've made, trip souvenirs, mom's wedding dress ornaments and then the nice new green ornaments to go along with them. But I ran out of colored lights so I only did one string of those and then 2 of whites.

I'm crazy and obsessive about these trees it's pathetic really. But they're done and the stockings are up.

Plus the boyfriend I got to hang out with the boyfriend cause he came out to the farmhouse for dinner. Hamburgers from Strang. Awesomeness.

It's amusing to hear him and my father talk about cars and trains. I don't even have to say anything.

Which is good cause I know nothing.

It's so weird that tomorrow is Saturday. Since I was off for two days it feels like it should be a Monday.

Oh well, I should crash. Back to work tomorrow.

Leverage, My cat the chair thief, Crocodile vs Lawnmower, and more SYKBFYKT

I love Leverage!

Halfway through season three and I can't stop. Stoked they're on the fourth season on TV. Will have to find those online.

I was completely productive today.

So productive, in fact, that when I took the time to actually look at the clock I realized, "holy crap it's 5:30". I had to literally stop being so productive and sit at a desk, physically stop working so much. Or I would have continued another project and left it half-finished. And I can start that tomorrow. Or next week.

That's how I know I have a great job, I look at the clock and I can say "holy cow it's already" *insert number here* It doesn't drag on to the point where I would say, "Aw man, it's only" *insert number here* Big difference between that "already" and "only".

I gotta space these things out. What if I do everything now and then I won't have anything to do later? That was my fear as an Aide. If I shelve everything right away, then the rest of the day I'm screwed!

I'm kind of excited about a new display, I did one in the YA section on books to movie and tv shows. Wish there was more space, but I do what I can.

Gave Superwoman some Angry Birds. Apparently they were a big hit. I got some as Xmas presents for some of the tiny children as well. You squeeze them and they make noises. Though I'm tempted to build obstacles and throw them at it like the game, just to see if they can knock things over and kill the pigs.

But I'd need a pig.

And some wood planks.

A few glass panels.

It'd be like Ultimate Angry Birds. Sounds like a good thing to film and put up on youtube.

Which reminds me, I still need to throw out that tree and film the process.

Freakin' Christmas tree. The new one rocks. Super easy.

Time to throw out the old one and burn it.

It will bring good news of great joy which will be for all the people.

Sorry. Christmas program.

Christmas isn't over yet!! Family party 3 days and counting. Woohoo!

Though it still doesn't feel like Christmas, where is the snow? This feels like Spring or something. It was nice all day today. It's messing with my head.

Mom showed up today at the library. Scared the crap out of me. Apparently my cat likes her new furniture and steals her spot when she leaves the room.

Which, you get used to, eventually.

See, you can be sitting on the couch.

And he could be sitting right next to you.

Then you get up, leave the room, come back and he'll be sitting where you were sitting.

I don't know if it's like warmer there or something, I'm guessing he's just playing mindgames with you. See what you do next.

But beware, he will bite you if you try to move him.

But I have strategy. Cause I will just lay next to him.

And he'll get tired of it, jump off the couch and find a new spot.

HA! Victory!

Then I reclaim my old spot, he'll sit on the floor and glare at me cause I've figured him out.

Guess he gets the mindgames from me.

Alright, on to the rec's then I'm out.

Full day tomorrow then more fun at the farmhouse. Woohoo!

Remind me to pack controllers. As much fun as Road Rage was on DDR mats, it's a lot easier with actual controllers.

Songs You Know But Forget You Know Them aka SYKBFYKT continued

"A-Punk" Vampire Weekend

Every single breath you take away gives me more life than before...

Dad: "If that spills your car will smell like spiced tea forever."
Mom: "She likes spiced tea."

Return trip = success

No spilled spiced tea or pies all over my floor. Why is it that I always end up with a fridge full of leftovers even when it's not at my house? I think that they think that I can't feed myself properly. Since I can't cook.

But I can.

Sort of.

I mean, my apartment is still standing, and I haven't gotten sick, so both of those things mean I'm doing something right, right?

Got my new phone today. It's all fancy and shiny. It's giant compared to my blackberry, but I like it. Touch screen, I'll have to get used to that instead of a keyboard but it's cool so far. I didn't get a lot of time to mess with it today since we watched the Husker game - woohoo!! - and then I put up the trees. I'll mess with it more tomorrow after work.

9-6.

Plus a stop to make sure Bubby is still alive and feed him.

I miss vacation time already.

Now that I actually earn it I should start taking some. I started in May 2010 and the only vacation time I've taken is for camp. And that doesn't really count, as it's more work than work work. But I like it so that's okay.

What else?

Oh yeah.

Trees. Not as bad as the nightmare that was last year. This year it went okay. Listened to my Christmas music, set them both up, new one included. It turned out pretty good actually. Much better and easier than the one I'll be throwing in the hole. Oh! Forgot to do that. Will have to when I go home next.

And film it.

I think Mom thinks I'm joking when I say I'm going to film it. I'm not. I want to watch it fly. and die. That thing caused hours of pain and suffering. This new one took about two minutes to put together. Decorating it took a while, but seriously, two minutes and it was standing straight in the right direction. Fantastic.

So I'll do the old tree throw next time I go home. That and pick up all the stuff I forgot, aka CD's, random stuff in closet I was going to grab but forgot/didn't want to carry up stairs along with everything else I was sent home with.

But I'll make it out there soon. Maybe this weekend. I have class Saturday but I'm off Sunday.

Oh yeah, so next semester I'll have class on Sundays. That'll be different. But good cause it's in the afternoon and not 8:30 AM. Huzzah! Last one of those of this semester on Saturday. All assignments have been submitted so I'm basically done. All I have to do is show up and talk about outreach advocacy and marketing. Oh yeah, and download the plan of study form from the website, fill it out and give it to the Library Goddess. Someone remind me to do that, cause I'll forget.

Okay, enough rambling. It was an excellent day. Huskers rocked it. Seriously. Heroes Game trophy included.

Alphabet Rec's of the night. What am I up to, F? Right? Cause yesterday was "Everywhere" and something else. "Evil Woman" that's right.

So tonight, let's see....

Aww man, there's too many good ones! I'll limit myself to three.

Alright, something you haven't heard...or you probably have in the background of big movies. I'll let you figure them out.

"Feels Like Home" Chantal Kreviazuk live

She's pretty good live, amusing. Though it's funny cause she switched up some of the lines. I was like, wait, what?

"Find My Way" Gabe Dixon Band live

and a bonus one.
okay, music video slideshows kind of weird me out, especially ones with lyrics on them, cheesefest style, so you won't see a lot of them on here. I only sacrifice when I think the song is worth it, and this one is.

"Fall Into Me" Hey Monday

love it.

out for the night. long day tomorrow.

Lights will guide you home...

First day.

Spent it falling asleep on my feet. Literally. I mean, I was able to stay awake and conscious at work, but I totally passed out between shifts for an hour at my apartment.

Apparently, the two guys I worked with yesterday called in sick this morning.

But that's not exactly something you can do when it's your first day as a 40 hour professional.

I've only taken one sick day since I started in May of 2010. It's November of 2011.

Bring it.

It was a good first day, aside from the weakness and the wanting to crash.

And I have tomorrow off so I can rest up. I have a feeling I'll spend it on the couch. It's interesting having the whole day off from both places. I liked working at two different places for two different jobs but it was a lot to keep track of. Hopefully, this will be a little easier.

Other than working, and learning all about Kindle and its capabilities I also talked to my mom, who is coming to town tomorrow. She's always entertaining. And I can give her her new Christmas tree to take to the farm so I don't have to keep hauling it around in the back of my car.

Oh, did I mention I bought them a tree for Christmas? I think I might have in passing. Remember the Christmas Tree From Hell story? My Life in Closed Captions: A Christmas Tree Nightmare Mom says I get to throw the tree in the hole. I might even film the freaking event. It will be fantastic. And EPIC. I hate that freaking tree.

So yes, I bought them a new one. With no lights already attached. They just die off and don't work the next year anyway. This is easier. I will also buy them some new ornaments, if she wants them. It is her Christmas present. Well, hers and dad's. Who said I should get a giant 9 foot one, but since she and I are the ones to decorate the thing every year, I went with her decision on the 7 foot one instead.

And it's still in my car. So Mom can take it home tomorrow. No real point in taking it out of the car if I'm not going to put it up in my apartment.

Okay, other good things in life. Talked with Obi-Wan about camp today. Last weekend of July is set up. We'll get most of the rowdy crew back again, but with the exception of some major players who have scheduled conflicts. Gonna be interesting there.

Ummm... I'm watching the Kate's Sister episode of NCIS which totally makes me sad. Kate was my favorite. Think I still like her more than Ziva, which is saying something because Ziva seriously rocks. I'm glad that Sasha is back on TV. Rizzoli and Isles is rockin' it on TNT.

Oh! And Kat guest-starred on NCIS. As Chaplan Burke. I was impressed. And she's a redhead so maybe they'll keep her around since Gibbs has a thing for redheads. That'd be awesome. Kat as in Kat Gardener from Eastwick. aka Jaime Ray Newman. I loved Eastwick. But of course, it got cut short. Not a surprise there it did star Lindsay Price and Rebecca Romijn. Not exactly solid TV series records in their background. But I like them so I watched it. Found it quite funny. Although, the problem with it ending so quickly was that in the finale it made you believe that Darryl was a good person and not the devil like in the real Eastwick.

Speaking of redheads, I think my very favorite NCIS guest star redhead would probably be Casey Novak with a gun, Diane Neal aka Abigail Borin. Call the Coast Guard, She's fantastic. I just watched "Ships in the Night" yes, I'm watching season 8 on DVD again, get used to it. And I'm still laughing. She's on a horrible blind date on a boat - with nowhere to go - when someone gets shot and murdered and then Gibbs comes and she's still in a dress trying to work a crime scene, it's hysterical.

Gibbs: Well, somebody get something!
McGee computer beeps: Boss, I got something.
Borin: My guys never do that.
Gibbs: Get yourself some new guys.

Sorry. NCIS rocks. Maybe tomorrow night I'll serenade you with things about Bones or Criminal Minds or Castle or one of the movies I have checked out. But I'll stick with NCIS until I crash tonight.

Which is now. Cause yeah. Exhausted.

enjoy.

A Christmas Tree Nightmare

I put the trees up at the farmhouse today and gotta say wow. I've never wanted to burn something more in my life. The first tree, the one of awesomeness, is seriously a piece by piece thing. Every branch you have to put in individually. And even though it takes forever I love it. It's relaxing. I'm the only one who knows the order they go in. It's all red and gold and pretty.
The second tree...oh man. It's only three pieces, bottom, middle then top. It should take maybe 5 minutes to put up, right? No. Two hours and I finally had the thing standing up straight. By this time I was just plain ticked. It was bad. My secret plan is to take it out to the trash hole the day after Christmas, cover it in lighter fluid and light a match. Oh man. The problem is that the bottom thing that goes into the stand isn't like a pole. It's this triangle thing. Why would you make it a triangle? It's the base, it's supposed to be perpendicular to the floor so the thing can stand up straight. You'd think anyway. But no. Then you have to tighten the screws, there are three, and they have to be completely even or the tree is crooked. And they don't screw in easy, it takes pliers. Plus you're getting stabbed in the face by the branches because they're in the way. Then the branches all look weird because it's one of those that has the lights already on it. So the branches are all tied together and sticking in different directions. And of course none of the lights work anymore anyway. We've had the thing four years and I honestly don't remember them ever working. So I took a scissors to some of them, (sh, don't tell mom). Anyway, two hours later and it's up.
Then I have to decorate the stupid thing. And it's the cheesy tree - the one that gets all the childhood-art-class-made-ornaments, pictures of grandkids, random ornaments that make noise when plugged into the light sockets, toys and random objects with string on them but clearly not meant for a Christmas tree, silver tinsel and colored lights galore. But it works. So I distracted myself from the gag-worthiness with Rizzoli and Isles episodes I have DVR'd from earlier this year.
Now they are both up and have special things attached to the chord so all you have to do is hit a button and you can turn them on and off without even having to unplug anything. Hooray. I can sleep in peace. Or have another dream about my dad being murdered and mom and I being held hostage. So weird. It's been a banner day.
